>Einstein chirped, loudly, signalling that he had a new tip of the day.: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

The year is 2573, and everything is blurry. Your vision, your skin, and your recent memories. You remember making your way back to the station, having... some kind of talk with Anna, and then taking a bite of some, apparently hallucinagenic and psychoactive fruit... And finally ending up here.

In a pile of three Robins.
Or Roses. Or Rhos.
Your head is too fuzzy to figure out which is which right now. You stumbled to your feet, and looked around.
You were in a room. One with pillows, and feathers covering the floor.
You looked in the mirror and saw... A brown-skinned, dark-haired girl standing in the mirror, wearing a skintight white jumpsuit.
You were also a Rho, it seemed. The pits of biokinetically generated space fruit sat in a nearby bowl- you can vaguely recall having more than one, but your memories of last night- and most of yesterday, after arriving at the station- were blurry.
And it was a monday, so you had class. Awesome.

Now would be a good time for Heather to take up heavy drinking.

Or just get addicted to the alien fruit.

Drug addict end.

Actually, what I think would be the funniest thing would be if we ran into Hound, told him about what had happened with Anna, ended up getting drunk and fucking him. I would laugh forever.

and then we could play as Anna for 30 threads and Exa can string us along and ruin everything again, BRILLIANT!

I've been here since the start of Near-Future Cyborg quest, always lurking. This is the biggest shitstorm that I can currently recall happening, and over what? Somebody rejecting the main character for a, what I believe to be, understandable reason? Seems extremely silly for people to be arguing this much over the issue. In any case, thanks for running today.

> Armala Technical (Otherwise known as ArmaTek) is an interplanetary, profit-seeking corporation headed by Davidson, Descartes, and Jameson. They used to sell Phaeron Gas, spacecraft components, nuclear cores, quantum entangled routers, and offered a transgenetic service, but as of this morning, they've been barred from making any sales or providing any services, and warrants have come out for both Davidson, Descartes, and Jameson for immoral cloning experiments, dozens of sapient rights violations, kidnapping an AI, and utilizing experimental transgenes. You make your way to the bathroom sink, stepping around some more pillows, and turn on the sink, filling it and splashing your face into the water. You pull your head back out, and hair dripping wet, stumble over to the other Rhos, and start to shake them awake.
First one Rho opened her eyes, and scrabbled for something, reaching into her pocket, before opening them completely.
"Huh." She said. "Theta must have fixed my eyes."
You shook the other two up, and one twitched, edging away from you- she was noticably slimmer than you and the other three rhos- and the other pulled you into a hug.
"Yesterday was weird." The Rho hugging you said.
"Wait, wait." The one who'd scrabbled for something said. "Why are there three of you?"
"... I think there are four of us." The slimmer Rho said.

"I'm T-Theta." The fourth Rho said, nervously.
Robin giggled. "Nah, I know you. You're Rose."
Rose pouted, apparently unable to pull the wool over Robin's eyes.

You find your personacom again, slipping on the glasses.
<Hey, sorry about whatever I said yesterday. Alien fruit is a hell of a drug. We can talk after class if you want.>
<... Okay.> Anna returned. <Omnissiah told me about that fruit, and Theta was chuckling about it.>

i can't think of a good way to prank anyone, all of my ideas can easily be explained with teleportation.

>>25176283
"Hmm, now how to maximize our groping potential... Well, three of us can tk grope, but only one can teleport. We need a plan, people."
>>
>>25176339
Why not all ambush the same person at once and multigrope. I mean, Isaac doesn't have tactile feedback, but he could still grope, so we could have three sets of tk groping going on and leave the unfortunate target flustered, confused, and kind of turned on.
>>
"We need a plan of attack. Who will be our target? I'm thinking someone you're not very close to, though Delta is obviously out since he'd be unlikely to notice or care."
"I know!" Robin said. "Sigma."
"What, are we going to attack someone?" Rose asked. "Why? I thought Sigma was your friend."
Robin just giggled evilly. "Maybe Jilly's mom!"
"Or Anna." Isaac said.

"And how to maximize our potential... Well, three of us can use TK, but only one can teleport. We need a plan, people."
"I can easily teleport four people, now that I'm all rested. I just need rose to hang onto my back if I want to do it right."

Rose looked utterly, completely confused.

Yes! We said we'd try and meddle with Manus and Neva before, and never did. Let's get this thing started.
>>
>>25176372
"Well we can't prank Damien since he will expect it."
>>
>>25176372
"Remember a while ago when we plotted to meddle with Manus and Neva... might this be the time?"
>>
"This isn't really an attack, Rose, think of it like a sport. the sport of surprise TK groping."
"TK what?!" Rose asked, and her cheeks went the same color as a beet.

"I have an idea." You say, and grin. "Remember a while ago when we plotted to meddle with Manus and Neva... might this be the time?"
"Eheheheheh~" Robin said.

Sometime later, you were in the vents, crawling along, peeking looks at Isaac in front of you, while Robin and Rose were in the other vent in the room. You slid closer, and peeked through the vents, looking down at the councilor's room. There Manus and Neva were, side by side, looking down at papers and tablets, tapping and pressing buttons. Max was there, chewing on a bone- and he spared a look up to you, and then to the other vent, and went back to chewing.
"Keep in mind, you're the only one with TP. You'll need to synchronize things." Isaac whispered.
>>
>>25176478

>>25176478

>>
>>25176478
>Max was there, chewing on a bone- and he spared a look up to you, and then to the other vent, and went back to chewing.

Max doesn't even care anymore, he has come to accept the inevitability of us doing silly things.

Well then, let's figure this out. We need to start slow and subtle, and not scare off Manus before it's too late.
>>
>>25176478
start things off with a subtle brushing of thighs and a slip of a hand on an arm, and slowly ramp things up

also, get max out of the room, tell him we are performing SCIENCE
>>
>>25176517

>>
>>25176504

>>
>>25176478
<This is a scientific experiment Max, please do not interfere.>
>>
>>25176478
<Everybody be ready to deploy groping on my mark>

>>
<This is a scientific experiment, Max, please do not interfere.>
Max huffed, and set down his bone.
"Someone is calling me on telepathy. One moment." He said, and picked up his bone, walking out of the room. "Make sure to save your data."
"Right." Manus said, and tapped on his tablet.

<Let's start things off subtly.> You tell everyone. <Slow and subtle. Everyone in position?>
<We're in position.> Robin said from the other vent.
Then you nod, and with TK, the three of you started doing things.
Neva got an inkling of a grin when you Manus's hand on her thigh- but the researcher himself seemed too focused to even notice someone had moved his hand. With another push, you pushed Neva closer- she eyed your vent... But turned back to Manus.
"... You'd better watch where your hand is, John." She said, in a low voice, whispering in his ear.

Manus blanched- then twitched when someone used TK on him.
"I- I um." He said. "Let's... um, get back to work, right? Okay?"
"Nope!" Neva said, and slammed off his tablet. "Too late."
And then she kissed his ear, and he bolted.
Isaac grinned, and with her first telekinesis since you'd started, she stopped Manus bodily, holding him in place. Neva grabbed him by the waist, and started dragging him off, out of the room.
"Mission success!" Robin called, after the door hissed shut.

"How do you know so much about these aliens?" Rose asked.
"Research." Robin said.
With a pamf, the four of you appeared in the cafeteria, crouching. Over the counter in the wall to the kitchen, there was Sarvesh, broad shouldered and massive as always, cooking what looked like some kind of soup.
Robin made some hand gestures, telling you all to move, and you crept closer to the counter, sitting down below it and out of Sarvesh's view. The constant clinking of silverware and rushing, boiling water came from above.
"What's the plan?" Robin asked, breathing super quietly in your ear.

Robin and Isaac looked over to Rose.
"B-b-" She said, eyes wide.
Robin gave her a pat on the cheek, and she nodded, resolute.
A pamf later, Rose was outside of the room, and came in, holding her own wrist.
"U-um." She said.
"Hey, Robin. I'm just making breakfast for everyone." Sarvesh said. He looked all patched up, it seemed.
"I'm Rose." She said. And gave him a wave.
"Oh! Sorry. You look kind of the same, to be honest."
She giggled, nervously. "W-we get that a lot."
"Want a snack?"
"Sure."

Sarvesh grabbed something, and teleported into the cafeteria proper- And you, Robin, and Isaac tackled him. Robin found herself on his torso's shoulders, you were sitting on his back, and Isaac was hugging him.
"... Oh dear." Sarvesh said.
"They made me!" Rose said, and pouted.
Sarvesh held out a small icecream sandwich, utterly covered in Rhos, and Rose opened it.

"What, you don't like being covered in women?"
"I don't mind it, of course." Sarvesh said.
"It must be your magnetic personality." You say. "When aren't you?"
"That is a rather disturbing trend." Sarvesh said. "Though it's usually Summer and... Heather."
He squinted at you- and Robin, from his shoulders, covered his eyes.
"... I'm unable to see like this." Sarvesh said.
"We know." Isaac said, and started trying to tickle the base of his lower arms and his armpits.
"No, no, go for his underside." Robin said.

And begin the TK groping.

Isaac crawled underneath, and started tickling Sarvesh's underside. The centaur started struggling not to giggle, and finally squeaked, buzzing with chuckles and trying to step out from above the telekinetic-turned-Rho.

Then you reached out, and gently ran your TK over his underside, and tickled him too.
Then you heard a barely-audible thump.
Robin pamfed around, snatching the three of you, and you ended up back in her room. Robin was giggling uncontrollably, while Rose just munched on her ice cream sandwich, thoughtfully.
Isaac chuckled, and sat back.

"I- I.." Rose said, and then paused. "I'm going to ask Theta to change me."
"Change you how?" Robin asked, sitting up.
"Older." Rose said. "Two years."
"... Alright. If you want to." Robin said, and ruffled her hair.

Or, alternatively, perhaps Anna *did* said she didn't want to keep dating Heather, but didn't say anything about her sexual preferences, and that's the retcon.

"It would!" Isaac said. "That way, I won't feel guilty."
Suddenly, three personacoms chirped.
<Change of plans for today. Our first classes will be late, because we're moving back to the primary station.> Max said. <When you have the time, please come to the Bulette if you lack any personal transportation method. I'm certain that Anna or Heather will allow you to take a ride on the Wyvern or Surya.>
"No!" Rose said. "I don't have any powers. Does that mean I have to stay here?"
"No, no, that's fine." Robin said. "You can come with us. Heather saw you with powers. Weird ones, or something."

>It also has foldout chairs and straps in the cargo bay, so if you're not carrying any cargo, you can carry around 12 people. Though Sarvesh counts as two, and he and Summer can't use the chairs.

"Is it a good thing I can't remember anything from yesterday, then?"
"Neither can I." Robin said. "It's weird. I can hardly remember you and Isaac coming in, even though we didn't eat the fruit until after that."
"I just remember her getting angry at me about making her a sandwich or taco or something. It's blurry." Isaac said.
"It was a bad idea to eat them." Rose said.
<Theta, would you mind un lolifying Isaac as soon as possible? He's abusing the privelege, among other things he's abusing. The rest of us were wondering if we could look like me instead. Or, like I normally look I mean.>
<Sure. I'll meet you at Surya.> He said. <And I'll set Isaac right.>

Down at Surta, Theta was there, leaning up against the wall. With a touch, Isaac turned into his human self, and he blinked a few times, until Theta gave him his glasses. Then, with three more touches, you, Robin, and Rose were all somebody different.
You were you again, at least. In clothing designed for someone much, much tinier than you.

"More shirts you're exploding out of?" Robin asked, and looked down at her own chest. "How do you not have back problems?"
You just smile at her. "You should teleport Isaac to the bulette."
"Alright." She said, and grabbed his arm and pamfed away.

You reached out to Summer and Sarvesh, your reach broader than normal, and ask them to come to Surya. It didn't take long before Summer arrived, and with Summer was Omnissiah, Devourer clinging to him.
"I hope you don't mind if we invite ourselves." Devourer said, merely some goop clinging onto Omni.

"Serpensal is in the Bulette." Omnissiah said.
"And does anyone else want to look like this? I'll supply some spare clothes if you don't want to go for the full effect."

"Alright, everyone on board. Anyone else coming in, or can we head out?"
"We can head out." Theta said.
"And hey, Theta, don't forget the UV."
"I didn't. I changed all your guys' genes and hair too." He said. "I have a sample in my head."
"... Let's go." Rose said, and grabbed your sleeve when everyone started to file into the ship.
"... Robin, I..." She said, and paused. Then squinted. "N-nevermind, you're not Robin. Let's... um, go."

Some time later, you were all within the Surya, almost half a dozen Heathers sitting in the ship's primary living quarters, strapped down, and Omnissiah locked into the dock. "I'll pilot. You can have fun."
You nod, and make your way into the living quarters and strap yourself down there.
Everyone, save Sarvesh and Omnissiah, was there, and even Theta was a Heather at the moment.

In any case, let's tell Sarvesh and Summer about the game. They can both guess at the end of the trip.
>>
>>25178268
Let Summer manifest a shirt, since if we do it we'll be identified. And where is Sarvesh?
>>
>>25178333
I read that as Rose being able to tell who Robin was, even when Robin wasn't Robin.

Perhaps her undiscovered power at work.
>>
>>25178357
I was referring to the "...Robin, I.."
>>
"... How does that even happen?" You ask. <Summer, could you please manifest her a shirt?>
<Alright.> Summer said, and a top appeared, which Rose pulled on, blushing as red as her hair currently was.
"Don't worry." Robin said. "Heather knew that would happen, and she's fine with it."
You turn back to Sarvesh in the cargo bay.
"Let's play a little game." You say. "At the end of this trip, find out who is who."
"That isn't even hard." Summer said. "We're psions, and you all act differently."

<Rose? This is the real heather speaking.> You tell her. <Is something the matter?>
<It's only been two days.> Rose said. She was much easier to understand, since she couldn't speak quietly through telepathy. <Since everything changed for me. And now we're going somewhere new, and it's all changing again.>
>>
>>25178341
Probably the mannerisms. She's used to picking people out of a bunch of identical clones, bro. All the identical clones were.
>>
>>25178268
<Sarvesh, you can't stay in there the whole trip. Besides, then you won't be able to play "spot the real Heather".>
>>
>>25178395
<Please try not to worry about it. It's been a busy, busy few days, and that station was only temporary. The one we're going to now is the one that we all consider home anyway.>
>>
>>25178395
<It's okay sweetie, I know it's a big change, but we're all going home. I'll show you my workshop and all the things I make there, just take your time. Adjusting isn't easy.>
>>
>>25178395
>"That isn't even hard." Summer said. "We're psions, and you all act differently."

"That's what makes it a game for us, too; we're going to try to be as unidentifiable as possible."
>>
>>25178395
"It's just another space station, Rose."
"It will be alright."
>>
>>25178395
<I know this is probably pretty confusing and frightening for you, but just remember that Robin will be there for you no matter what. Besides, this has been an unusually crazy few days, things should hopefully settle down soon.>
>>
>>25178395
<Well, the place we just left was a backup station. Normally, we just stay at the main station. We were only there because of an emergency.>
>>
>>25178395

Rose: <I'm sorry, it must be difficult. if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.>

"aww, but you wouldn't use telepathy to spoil the fun, would you?"
>>
>>25178463
><I know this is probably pretty confusing and frightening for you, but just remember that Robin will be there for you no matter what. Besides, this has been an unusually crazy few days, things should hopefully settle down soon.>

I like this; it explains things to Rose and it also reminds her that Robin is around.
>>
What are we going to do about that other AI, anyway? The one that was controlled by the VQ.
>>
>>25178496
which one, the one we blew up with a bubble drive, Omni's brother?
>>
>>25178518
Yeah. I think we had a plan to retrocog and copy him or something.
>>
>>25178518
Are we still planning to try and retrocog him back into existence somehow. I think we should. Perhaps talk to Omni about it.
>>
>>25178529
>>25178539
we should atleast try, I think we were going to try using damien to help? or could we retrocog him into existence?
>>
>>25178496
>>25178518
>>25178529

ask Omni about it first, even if we're about to copy a soon to be dead AI, it is still important to have his opinion on it.
>>
>>25178449
>"That's what makes it a game for us, too; we're going to try to be as unidentifiable as possible."

This is getting more fun by the minute.

>>25178496
We're going to do this:
>>25178529
>>25178539
>>
<I know this is probably pretty confusing and frightening for you, but just remember that Robin will be there for you no matter what.> You say. <It's okay. I know it's a big change, but we're all going home.>

"Aw, but you wouldn't use telepathy to spoil the fun, would you?"
"I meant more clairvoyance." Summer said.
You turn to Sarvesh.
<Sarvesh, you can't stay in there the whole trip.> You telepath. <Besides, then you won't be able to play 'spot the real Heather.'>

<... Alright, alright.> He said, and lumbered out of the room, pushing himself with TK. "At least I can make you all food here in the kitchenette." He said.
"Yes!" Robin said. "Make us.. waffles!"
"I don't have a waffle iron here." Sarvesh said.
"Telekinesis." Theta said, still in your form. He was the only one who didn't seem to be oogling anyone, unsurprisingly.
"I'm *starving*." Devourer said, much more girlishly than he really should. She giggled. "Please make us something good, Sarvesh~."
"... Um. Okay." He said.
>>
>>25178529
Check it, we could try to reassemble his atoms that made him right, and then use awakening on him.

Or do it the other way around.
>>
>>25178570
>"I'm *starving*." Devourer said, much more girlishly than he really should. She giggled. "Please make us something good, Sarvesh~."

Oh my god, our child is adorable
>>
>>25178570
>"I'm *starving*." Devourer said, much more girlishly than he really should. She giggled. "Please make us something good, Sarvesh~."

<You catch on fast, Devourer. Kinda disturbingly fast. I'm so proud.>
>>
>>25178570
<Oh my gods that was adorable Devvy>
>>
>>25178570
>"Telekinesis." Theta said, still in your form. He was the only one who didn't seem to be oogling anyone, unsurprisingly.

Actually, that'll make him harder to spot, won't it?
>>
>>25178570

"that's not creepy at all." giggle
>>
>>25178608
<And I don't mean that in a self-centered way at all!>

>>25178613
No giving ourselves away like that.
>>
>>25178570
<I am so proud of you, Daughter/son>
>>
>>25178570
Sarvesh x Devourer please, smutfags.
>>
>>25178599
He is literally a part of us and mentally linked and has been reading our mind his whole life.
>>
>>25178570
<You make your old mother so proud, Dev.>
>>
>>25178641
Perhaps, but not with Devourer in Heather's form. At least, not the whole time.

>>25178650
And that should make us less proud why?
>>
<Oh my gods you are adorable, Devvy.> You say. <And I don't mean that in a self-centered way at all!>
<I try, I try.> He said.
"That was so cute, Rose!" Robin said, and pulled Devourer into a hug, giving her a grope. Devourer squeaked.

Summer just plain blinked at the two, and Sarvesh watched unerringly, making waffles.
>>
>>25178696
To Robin <You missed.>
>>
>>25178696
<Psst, wrong one Robin, wrong one, that's Devy.>
>>
>>25178696
<Good try, but thats Devi.>
>>
>>25178696
<Wrong one!>
>>
>>25178673
It shouldn't make us not proud, I'm just saying it's not really disturbingly fast. I'd be surprised if he couldn't do a good impression of us by now.
>>
>>25178711
>>25178723
>>25178742
>>25178745
I think that was the point.
>>
>>25178711
>>25178723
I'm pretty sure she's just trying to throw everyone off. You know, guess who game and all?
>>
>>25178696
<How could you do that to Rose, missing her like that?>
>>
>>25178696
>"That was so cute, Rose!" Robin said, and pulled Devourer into a hug, giving her a grope. Devourer squeaked.

Oh, nicely done, the both of them! Squeaking is so in character for Rose. To Devourer: <Quick, hide behind someone like you saw Rose doing earlier.>

>>25178711
>>25178723
>>25178742
>>25178745
I think she knows. But just in case, to Rose: <Don't worry, I think she's playing along. No way could she mistake anyone else for you, in any body. Play along, try not to squeak or be shy. Besides, you're in someone else's body and everyone looks like me; you can be less inhibited and nobody will know. Cut loose a bit.>
>>
>>25178765
>Play along, try not to squeak or be shy. Besides, you're in someone else's body and everyone looks like me; you can be less inhibited and nobody will know. Cut loose a bit.>

Oooh, this could indeed be a good opportunity for Rose.
>>
>>25178752
Oh right. Derp.
>>
>>25178696
<You're doing a pretty good job, Devs.>
>>
>>25178696
"Get a room, you two!"
>>
<Psst, wrong one, Robin.> You say. <That's Devy.>
<I know.> She responded, and gave him another grope. Devourer squeaked again. <This is how you play the game.>
<I'm quite suddenly tempted to use humaniform forms more often.> Devourer said.

<How could you do that to Rose, missing her like that?>
<I'll make it up to her later.> Robin said.
Roiling in embarassment and jealousy, Rose just stared on.
<Don't worry, I think she's playing along. No way could she mistake anyone else for you, in any body.> You say. <Play along, try not to squeak or be shy. Besides, you're in someone else's body and everyone looks like me; you can be less inhibited and nobody will know. Cut loose a bit.>
<B-but I don't want to mess up.> She said. <I don't know how you act. I can't be you...>
>>
>>25178796
<You don't have to be me. You can act however you like.>
"I hope Sir Eliphant didn't get too stressed yesterday."
>>
>>25178796
<Just act like whatever you think a bubbly technophile would act like.>
>>
>>25178796
<That's the best bit! You can act however you want!>
>>
>>25178796
<Well, if you were Heather, you'd probably try and get involved in that Heather on Heather groping over there. So the answer is clear, you must grope Robin!>
>>
>>25178796
><B-but I don't want to mess up.> She said. <I don't know how you act. I can't be you...>

<I just told you. Be a bit less inhibited. Not like Robin, groping everyone and going for full-body hugs, but be casually comfortable with all this. Just be yourself, without the shyness; you've got no reason to be uncomfortable here. You're among friends.>
>>
>>25178796
<Then pretend to be Robin pretending to be me or something! It doesn't matter if you mess up, it's just meant to be a bit of fun.>
>>
>>25178796
<Relax, if you want, afterwards I'll claim it was me pretending to not be me by acting differently.>
>>
>>25178796
><I'm quite suddenly tempted to use humaniform forms more often.> Devourer said.

<We are fun, aren't we? But later on, when we're not playing this game, you should try one that isn't as easy to imitate; you know my mind inside and out. Remember that form if you ever need to pout ay anyone, though.>
>>
>>25178796
<You could always make yourself actually look like my son or daughter, you know.>
>>
>>25178876
This one.
>>
>>25178946
Yeah, Devourer could easily emulate the offspring of Heather and someone else.
>>
<That's the best bit!> You say. <You can act however you want!>
<B-but.>
<Then pretend to be Robin pretending to be me or something! It doesn't matter if you mess up, it's just meant to be a bit of fun.>
<A-Alright.> She said, and bit her lip.

"Well, um, waffles! I have them." Sarvesh said, and with TK, whipped around some waffles, smushing ice cream inbetween two of them.
In response, Rose caught one, starting to munch on it shyly. She didn't even act very differently.
"This is really good." She said, completely unconvincingly. She couldn't even put a tilde into her voice. "Teehee."
Robin started giggling, and moved back into her chair. "Here, Sarvy!" She called, and Sarvesh started whipping waffles to people. Summer started munching on hers, and giggled.

You turn to Devourer. <You could always make yourself actually look like my son or daughter, you know.>
<... With whom?> Devourer asked. <A clone would be identical.>
>>
>>25179003
<Up to you, have fun with it. But not right now, wait until the game is over.>
>>
>>25179003
<You can pick, for now though, we must confuse Sarvesh more!>
>>
>>25179003
<With whoever you like, I guess. Do you have a favorite person on the station? Do it as if I'd had an offspring with them!>
>>
>>25179003
<With yourself?> <Do you even have DNA?>

Lounge on Summer.
"I'll have the next one please Sarvesh!"
"Hey Summer, how are you holding up?"
>>
>>25179003
<I dunno, try out some people some time, Damien, Anna, Summer, Sarvesh, who knows?>

"Saaaaaarvyy! I'd like some waffles! All of the waffles."
>>
>>25179003
Manifest a crowbar, and start tossing it from hand to hand.
>>
>>25179044
>Devourer turns into half-Heather half-Sarvesh
I don't even know what the fuck that would look like but I know I'd like Sarvesh's reaction.
>>
>>25179087
It'd look like a pile of broken genes and pain.
>>
>>25179087
I would too, but later. At the moment I'm betting that Sarvesh is going to mix everyone else up, but get the real Heather pretty easily.

>>25179003
<Anyone you like, but don't do it around that person; it might be a little much for them.>
>>
>>25179087
Nobody in-universe knows either; a centaur and a human have never successfully managed it. Though a few are trying. If anyone could figure it out, Devourer could. And I'd like to see that later.
>>
>>25179117
>>25179087
Theta turned Sarvesh human, so he could use humaniform Sarvesh as the base.
>>
>>25179003
<Anyone you want. Though, it'd be interesting if you could figure out what our scientists have yet to solve; you know more about genetics than every other being in the universe combined.>
>>
>>25179141
That would take all the fun out of it.
>>
<With whoever you like, I guess.> You say. <Try out some people sometime. Damien, Anna, Summer, Sarvesh, who knows?>
<I know.> Devourer said.
<But don't do it around that person. It might be a little much for them.>

"Saaarvy~" You say. "I'd like some waffles. All of the waffles."
"Sorry, Heather wearing white." Sarvesh said. "I can't give you all of them."
He gave you some waffles, and you sat back, starting to eat.
"This is delicious." Theta said. "Thanks, Sarvy."
"Why is everyone calling me Sarvy all of a sudden?" Sarvesh asked.
"Because that's who you are. Sarvy." Rose said, and giggled, cheeks red, as she finished up her waffles.

Some time later, breakfast was done, and Omnissiah called over the intercom. "We're arriving at the station soon."
Rose sat on her hands. "Is there a window on this ship or something? I wanna show Rose what the station looks like."
"I-I think I remember one in the cockpit." Robin stammered, and Rose took her wrist, kicking off toward the cockpit.

<The ones I have in mind would take it in good humor.> Devourer said, suddenly. <I believe.>
>>
>>25179203
<Okay, I trust your judgement.>
>>
>>25179003
>"This is really good." She said, completely unconvincingly. She couldn't even put a tilde into her voice. "Teehee."

<Remember to stretch out the ends of words sometimes~.>
>>
>>25179203
<doitdoitdoit>

<Hey Siah, remind me about helping find your brother-AI when I'm sensible again.>
>>
>>25179242
Seconding. We should discuss our options with Omni, since it's his brother, and he's damned smart.
>>
>>25179203
<Excellent, you'll have to surprise me when you decide!>
>>
>>25179203
>Rose sat on her hands. "Is there a window on this ship or something? I wanna show Rose what the station looks like."
>"I-I think I remember one in the cockpit." Robin stammered, and Rose took her wrist, kicking off toward the cockpit.

Oh, nicely done Rose!

>>25179242
><Hey Siah, remind me about helping find your brother-AI when I'm sensible again.>

Yes.

>>25179203
><The ones I have in mind would take it in good humor.> Devourer said, suddenly. <I believe.>

<Well, you know people pretty well, considering how you learned; use your best judgment.>
>>
>>25179203
OK, Robin and Rose might have Sarvesh confused about which is which, but that's going to narrow down the choices of who might be Heather. We need to take a last chance to act like someone else.

We could wander off and let Theta say "Hey, no touching bits that aren't yours."

Or we could get someone else to pout. Devourer perhaps.
>>
>>25179327
>We could wander off and let Theta say "Hey, no touching bits that aren't yours."
>Or we could get someone else to pout. Devourer perhaps.

Or both!

>>25179226
><Okay, I trust your judgement.>

*judgment.
>>
>>25179327
Pretending to be Devourer seems the most likely to be successful.
>>
>>25179203
><The ones I have in mind would take it in good humor.> Devourer said, suddenly. <I believe.>

<Who'd you have in mind? No, wait, surprise me and I'll guess.>
>>
>>25179363
Sounds good, though Devourer's outfit makes them somewhat identifiable.

But how would we imitate Devourer?
>>
<Doitdoitdoit> You tell Devourer. <I trust your judgement.>
Then you turn toward the cockpit. <Hey, Siah, remind me about helping find your brother-AI when I'm sensible again.>
<... I already did.> He said, and didn't elaborate.

Then you call out to Rose. <Remember to stretch out the ends of your words sometimes~.>
<Okay~> She responded, and the ship shook as it docked.
"We have arrived at the institute." Omnissiah said. "Some time before anyone else."
"So, how are we doing this?" Summer asked.
"You both have telepathy." Theta said. "So just tell us who we are. If you're right, you get a point."
"Alright! Let's do this." Summer said.
<You!> Summer said. <Are Heather.>
You gave her a Look.
<Einstein's been following you around the entire time.>

Sarvesh looked over to you.
<... You're... Um. Theta?> He asked. <No, no, you're Heather. Or Robin.>
>>
>>25179344
>*judgment.

Not where I'm from it isn't.
>>
>>25179411
"Pick one, Sarvy."
>>
>>25179411
<No, no. It's Devourer here.>

As sullenly as we can.
>>
>>25179411
To Sarvesh: "Try some of the others first. Process of elimination."
>>
>>25179411
"You only get one choice, Sarvy."
>>
>>25179438
Thats cheating. stoppit
>>
>>25179411
><Einstein's been following you around the entire time.>

...she's good, and we're clearly forgetful.
>>
>>25179411
"You have to guess only one person Sarvy."
>>
>>25179411
<Well, one of those is right.>
>>
>>25179411
I think he's trying to taunt us into revealing ourselves.

<Pick one.>
>>
>>25179411
<Three guesses when there's only five options? I can't give you anything for that.>
>>
>>25179411
><... You're... Um. Theta?> He asked. <No, no, you're Heather. Or Robin.>

"Try some of the others; come back to me when you can decide which is which."
>>
>>25179411
Jolt, blush, squirm
>>
"You only get one choice, Sarvy." You say. "Pick one."
<... Devourer.> He said.
"Wrong!" Devourer crowed.
"Damnit."

"Summer got me right, Sarvesh thought I was Heather." Theta said.
"Summer got me as well. Sarvesh thought I was Theta." Devourer said.

Robin and Rose poked their heads back.
"You both got us mixed up, apparently." Robin said, and giggled.
"And I got Heather right as well!" Summer said.
"And Sarvesh didn't." Devourer said, and gave him a smug grin.

Sarvesh was quiet, and pouted. You weren't sure how he *could* pout, but he was.
"So, what do I win?" Summer asked.
>>
>>25179512
You get NOTHING you LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!
>>
>>25179512
You win one free group hug from half a dozen heathers!
<And your roommate will do whatever you want for an evening.>
Nonsexually.
>>
>>25179512
yup. What do you want as a prize? A belly rub? Some sort of technological marvel? A kiss?
>>
>>25179512
"I'm curious, Summer; Devourer is practically me; if not for Einstein, could you have told us apart?"
>>
>>25179512
"Hang on, I'm curious. I want to hear the reasoning, too. Oh, and nicely done, Rose and Robin."
>>
>>25179512
"A Mass Heather hug, of course!"

Poor Sarvesh is going to be so jealous.
>>
>>25179512
"What do you *want* to win?"

"Rose! I need to show you around. We'll start with the workshop!"
>>
>>25179512
"You win a group hug. I'm kind of curious though, how'd you guess everyone?"
>>
>>25179588
Until he finds out that's the prize for the runner up too.

>>25179585
>"Hang on, I'm curious. I want to hear the reasoning, too. Oh, and nicely done, Rose and Robin."

I'd like to hear them explain it as well. Summer figured us out from Einstein, but what about the others? And what clues was Sarvesh going off of?
>>
>>25179512
"Sarvesh, you didn't get a single one right? You're not very good at this game."
>>
>>25179512
"A group hug! Or even better we will make Sarvesh do something unpleasant!"
>>
>>25179607
...that's almost suspicious. I wonder if he was trying to?
>>
>>25179512
"A group hug. Of course, that's the penalty for the runner up as well."
>>
>>25179589
>"Rose! I need to show you around. We'll start with the workshop!"

Yes.

>>25179585
>"Hang on, I'm curious. I want to hear the reasoning, too. Oh, and nicely done, Rose and Robin."

This.
>>
>>25179627
Robin and Rose were easy to confuse. I can see him thinking Theta was Heather because he was the only one not ogling the other Heathers (he might not know about the gay). Devourer was doing a really good job so I can see him being hard to figure out.
I think he was just bad.
>>
"I'm curious, Summer. Devourer is practically me. If not for Einstein, could you have told us apart?"
"Yep!" She said. "I pulled a leaf from Ellie's book."
Then she grinned.
"You and Robin ... Er, Rose kept meeting eyes, like you were using telepathy. Also, you weren't wearing writhing, living clothes like Devourer was."
"I didn't notice." Sarvesh said. "I don't pay attention to clothes."
"Anyway, what do you *want* to win?" You ask Summer. "A belly rub? Some sort of technological marvel?"
"A hug!" Summer said. "From all of you!"

A moment later, within a swarm of Heathers, you let go of summer, and gave Sarvesh a grin. "You didn't even get a single one right? You're not very good at this game."
"I'm not. I... got stressed out." he said, and chuckled. "I'd decided Theta was you, and forgot entirely about you and Devourer."
"Rose!" You say. "I need to show you around."
Rose eeped.
"We'll start with the workshop!"
"Can I come?" Robin asked, and pouted.
She leaned forward, and crossed her arms with the pout.
Everyone in the room- even Theta- winced and looked away.
>>
>>25179731
Do it back do it back!

"Ohoho."
>>
>>25179731
oh god we conditioned them perfectly.

Yes do it back.
>>
>>25179731
"Of course!"
"That won't work on me, you know. I practice on the mirror."
>>
>>25179731
"Be careful where you aim that thing!" Pout right back, full strength.

>>25179731
>"I'm not. I... got stressed out." he said, and chuckled. "I'd decided Theta was you, and forgot entirely about you and Devourer."

"Stressed out, huh? Sorry, that was a bit much, wasn't it."
>>
>>25179731
"Oh ho, are you trying to pout against me?"

Pout right back at her, cross our arms, and push our cleavage up, and stare right into her eyes.
>>
>>25179731
"No need for that, Robin, of course you can come."

Then pout back, with arms crossed and leaning forward, no-one will out-pout Heather, not even Heather!

"Oho, are you trying to pout against me?" You ask.
"Yes?" robin asked, suddenly much less sure of herself.
You pout back, doing the same, and stare directly into her eyes.

It took less than a minute before she started sniffling, her composure broken.
Then you giggle. "No need for that, Robin, of course you can come."

Surya's hatched hissed open, and Rose grabbed Robin's hand. "L-let's go, alright?"
"Alright." Robin said, wiping at her- your- face.

You hug robin. "It's not just a pout, it's a power that makes people feel guilt and shame. Do not abuse the pout. I hope you've learned your lesson."
"O-okay." Robin said, as Rose hugged her as well.

The three of you made your way out of the hangar, and walked through the halls. Everything seemed more... clean, than it was before, almost every part of the station repaired, every component completed... The entire way, you started telling the two clones about the things you'd made, the weapons...

And then you made your way into your workshop.
And inside... Was all of your stuff. A drone shell had a bullet in it, and some of your tools had been plasmaed, but the rest of it was mostly intact and whole.

"It's really big!" Rose said, craning her head to look at it all. "It doesn't look like people use it much, though."
"That's because they fixed everything up." Robin said. "After the demiurg came."
>>
>>25180003
We don't, but Robin does; she's practicing not disintegrating people when "distracted" by those toys.
>>
>>25180015
Ah. Well Rose is going to see them eventually, she might as well know where they've been.
>>
>>25180013

Nooooooooooooooo!

Which ones, though?
>>
>>25180013
Our tools!!

Noooo!!!~~

Hold them, caress them, send them off to the other side in our arms.
>>
>>25180013
"Wow. The bullet holes and plasma scorching really add some character though."

<Workshop? Hello?>
>>
>>25180013
Yup, Most of my projects had been completed thankfully. My next one shall be testing out recabulators. Or maybe making a better chassis for omni.
>>
>>25180013
Collapse into tears at the plasma'd tools.
>>
"My tools! No!" You say, tearing up, and pick up your toolbox. It'd taken a massive plasma bolt to the side, and most of it dribbled out of the hole as you shook it.
"Look at this." Rose said, and pointed. On one of the work benches were a wrapped package. You looked closer.

>Hey, Heather, your toolbox took a hit, and that was kind of my fault since I didn't block it with my body, so I thought I'd get you this. - Keen.

You pulled it open, and inside... was a bright red toolbox, complete with a new, state of the art cabulating wrench. Your omnitool didn't even have that part installed yet!
"Here's where she squees loudly." Robin whispered.
"Does she actually get like that with technology?"
"You shoulda' seen her when she made her ship. I expected to find her humping it."
Rose blushed, bright red.

>>
>>25180187
This is a good idea.
>>
>>25180144
We make that noise. Oh yes we do.

Still, give the damaged tools a reverent trip to the bin.

<Keen, you're the best! Though I need your body for tests and science, so you can't ruin that either.>
<Heh, you managed to avoid smoking.>
>>
>>25180144
"You just weren't watching closely enough Robin."

Then hold all the tools close to us, whisper sweet nothing to them, Technopath to let them know that we love them and will always care for them properly.
>>
>>25180144
Squee at a pitch too high for the human ear. I want Max running in here because he mistook it for a dog whistle it's so high.
>>
>>25180203
We'll have to start making double-ended ones so Rose can join in.
>>
You squee, hugging the toolbox, loudly enough for Robin and Rose to cover their ears for a moment. "Where in the galaxy did he get this?" You ask, and pull up your personacom.
<Keen, you're the best! Though I need your body for tests and science, so you can't ruing that either. Heh, you managed to avoid smoking.>
<For once.> He responded.
"I'll be able to make you even better toys for your practice, Robin."
"Practice?" Rose asked.
"U-um." Robin said.
Then you set aside the toolbox, and take a look at the broken ones. You pout at them, and solemnly pick them up... and hum a funeral dirge, as you set it in the bin. You sniffle, and wipe at your eyes.
"Yes! So I can practice not disintegrating things."
"How does that work?"
"Um, well..." Robin said. "What I've been.. doing is.. um. Doing things so I lose my composure, and trying to... stay focused."
>>
"I did briefly consider marrying the reactor core, Sir Helios. As did my mom come to think of it."
>>
>>25180144
To Keen: <OK, I love my tools, but don't ever go thinking that I'd want someone hurt trying to protect them. I can make more tools. But I do love the cabulating wrench, and you should have been here to hear me squee about it in person.>

<Can you narrow the area we're looking for him down at all?>
<Demiurg space.> Omnissiah said. <The warlord who created him and I were eaten by the Devourer, and then that warband was whipped into control by the Enslaver. They still remember, though... But they don't know where the warlord sent the backup.>
<Just say the word; what can I do to help?>
<... You helped enough when we were being chased by him.> Omnissiah said, uncharacteristically coldly.

A moment later, he responded again. <Sorry, sorry. Um. I'll work on things, and find out who it is. We might have weapons platforms to deal with when we get there.>

<I didn't mean to get angry about it.> Omnissiah said. <It wasn't your fault. You didn't know. I'm sorry for getting upset.>
Robin and Rose suddenly pulled you to a stop.
Rose nodded, and the two of them pulled you into a hug.
"Let's move on, okay?" Robin asked. "Let's take the short way to hydroponics instead."
She grinned, and the three of you pamfed away.
Next thing you knew, you were standing in hydroponics.
"That's always so..." Rose said, and then trailed off, looking out the window at the sun.

She stared, eyes wide.
"... That's beautiful!" She said, and grinned widely for the first time since you'd met her.

You make your way out of the room, and call back to Rose as you make your way down Hydroponics' ladder. <Kiiiiiiiiissssss~>

Just as you made your way down the ladder the rest of the way, you saw Rose pull Robin close. Then you continue on back to your workshop, and sit down, crosslegged.

And then you close your eyes, and focus, trying to push everything- the feel of the life support pumping, the feel of the cold workshop floor below your feet, the sound of the space station shaking...
And you try to look outwards.

Eyes closed, you look outward, toward apocalypse-

Robin and Rose were kissing, pulling eachother close-
You shake it off, and continue to reach.
Damien was sitting back, relaxing, staring up at the ceiling, when Devourer came in. His eyes opened a fraction.
"... Why the hell do you look like-"
You shake that off as well, and go on.

Ellie was giggling, leaning on Lin's chest. The two were watching a comedy show in the rec room, lounging back-

Summer was talking with Theta, focusing on making creatures. Theta raised a hand, and did his best to change them. Kailynn, with a clipboard, looked on, and started jotting down notes-

Finally, you sighed, and let go. Your head was pounding, and it was difficult to keep focus.

"That would be stupid." He said. "If you can make things like this, then you're useful for other things."
"You should stick around."
"I plan to." He said, and wiped his nose. "I will assemble my own station, however, in the same orbit. Excuse me."
He turned his chair around.
"Would you care for a hug?" You ask.
"No." He responded.

"Tell me when you've built something really awesome, okay? I want to come and see it."

"Fair enough." You say. "If you need anything on your station, give me a yell."
"I will. And you will be reimbursed." He said, and rolled out of the room.
"Have fun!"

You look down at the recabulator, a small cylinder, only three inches long and coiled around itself.

Then you pocket it, and make your way to the cafeteria. It was empty, so you just grabbed some shakes and biscuits.

Damien walked in, and behind him, was...

You.
Cyborg you, specifically, biomechanical components augmented into her arms and limbs, a single red eye next to her single organic one.
"Hello." Her synthesized voice said, with a wave. "This is a combination of yourself and Omnissiah."

I was kind of hoping that this was the case, but that Damien is confused as to why Devourer looks like Jabberwocky. Gotta go all out when you're doing time fuckery, after all.

>>25181583
Though THAT'S not quite what I was expecting.

"Wait, so this means you can manifest technology stuff, too! I thought I was supposed to be the one doing the technology and you were supposed to do the biology! I'm feeling kind of one-upped, here."
>>
>>25181583
"Are you implying I would have offspring with my own son?"
>>
"You are the best ahahahahaha." You say, and burst out giggling. Damien chuckled, and stole one of your biscuits.
"She surprised me." Damien said, and started chuckling.
"How can you even do that?" You ask. "You're all metal!"
"My practice in using biokinesis for technology helped." Devourer said. "Quite a bit. This isn't true metal, but a biological equivalent."
You giggle some more. "But... wouldn't that be, um, wrong, what with him and you being my kids?"
"No." Devourer said. "Omnissiah is merely adopted."
Then she shrugged. You giggled and pulled her into a hug.
<Nicely done. I must say, I didn't expect that.>
<That's why I chose it.> Devourer said.

Heather is a scientist and loves to build things. She just learned of a new metal. React appropriately.
>>
>>25181822
This is true.

We should make some more hull plating for our ship if it's better than the carbon stuff.

>>
>The nature of polycarbon is that it has a few different 'weaves', in that ship hulls are made of rigid weave and cables are made of flexiweave, and any real composite with anything *but* more polycarbon makes it weaker on average.

"Biometal? That's incredible! I'd never have known it wasn't actually metal if you hadn't told me. Details, I need details!"
"... I just emulated polycarbon as best I could." Devourer said. "It's not nearly as good, however."
"I won't lie. That's really, really cool." You say.
"But functionally useless. There are better alternatives." Devourer said.
You try to technopath it, but it didn't make much sense to you- it was biological, that much you knew. The rest, it just felt like Devourer.
"Have you shown Omni yet?" You asked.
"No." She said. "He seems busy, and I'd best not bother him."

"What other biometal things can you make? Swords and claws? Plasma guns? Welding tools?"
As you asked, Devourer grew claws, a sword sprouted of one of her palms, and a welding tool bulged out of his wrist.
"Yes." He said, and faded slowly back to normal.
"Have you tested your tech limits, Devy? I'd say the organic bubble drive would mean you can make nearly anything."
"Yes, I have. Quite extensively." He said. "And... borrowed your thoughts at times. I apologize for that."
"Also, hello, Damien."

That sounds ideal, yeah. Forget the bit that drove people nuts, but keep the result the same.

>>25182304
The conversation happened too, and people argued over that.

I'm not arguing about the retcon, I'd just like it to not change the point of the conversation, even if it changes Anna's reasons.

What's with people saying 'keep the result the same'? Did you is how Anna is the most popular LI? Or was until last thread at least, I guess some Annafags quit reading. I'd only be fine with that if no romance happens at all.
>>
>>25182356
I'm perfectly happy with this retcon, Anna and Heather get together, no-one busts an artery, and the rest of the quest can run smoothly with perhaps the occasional background gripe. Hopefully.

Fuck, I just want to focus on other things already.
>>
>>25182336
The Anna twist was really stupid.
This was just pants on head retarded.
"lol it was all a random really coherent hallucination"
If you're going to take the copout and retcon it then actually retcon it.
>>
>>25182356
What's with people unable to tolerate any result that disagrees with their preferred outcome? I like Anna, but the two of them had a good run, and things don't always work out. I actually prefer that to magically fixing everything.
>>
>>25182377
Pretty much.
>>
>>25182377
Well I don't want to 'focus on other things' I want to have a goddamn romance plot, for better or worse. that was a good part of why i signed up for this quest. Character interactions AS WELL as plot.
We just went and trounced the VQ, so now we have a little bit of chatting, then more plot, then more characters.
Going full plot is stupid.
>>
Honestly, considering that Anna said from the very beginning that that was a possibility, I thought the result from last thread made perfect sense as an outcome. I honestly think people are less upset by the explanation and more upset by the answer not being what they wanted. And I'm entirely opposed to a retcon that just says "lol nevermind have what you want", given that plenty of people were fine with the outcome.

Live with the idea that the MC of a quest does not automagically succeed at everything and get everything or everyone they want. Love, lose, move on.
>>
>>25182388
Not really random, the hallucination was plausible.

I just like that this time the quest was really quiet and people weren't so damn buttfrustrated.
>>
>>25182463
It was not plausible at all.
>>
>>25182463

>>
>>25182446
I agree with this (that I'd like some romance). I disagree with us needing retcon to do it. There are at least three other romanceable characters around, and plenty of time left for a relationship with them, without derailing the plot to do so.

>>25182463
This much is true, I like that it kept people quiet about it for most of the thread modulo the beginning. Still not a good reason to do it, though.
>>
>>25182478
So what do you want to do about it?

Demanding the retcon is not void will just cause the last thread all over again, and the quest will self-destruct.

How about trying to take the high ground so we can avoid that, thanks.
>>
>>25182478
We add a fruit that altered our perception, seems plausible to me.
>>
>>25182463
It's just like the first Anna debacle. People were FUCKING ANGRY during the thread, and then there was practically no bitching at all during the next one.
>>25182478
Considering how powerful that fruit is, it's perfectly plausible. Memories are fragile and the human brain LOVES making shit up when it can't actually find what you're trying to remember/think of.
>>
>>25182496
>*now void
>>
Look, I was pro the retcon last thread, but honestly people, just, enough. The retcon has happened, it has calmed a lot of people down, and today's thread got back on track.

Let the retcon happen, let the Heather x Anna thing happen, and please can we leave all this nastiness behind us. Because saying that you dislike it now will not achieve anything beyond more endless arguments.
>>
>>25182452
That's stupid, people have already stated why it was a shitty twist. I'll sum it up: 'I'm actually straight' is the worst romance twist in history, Exa strung Annafags along for 50 threads only to literally veto her as a choice out of nowhere (a single sentence from 60 threads ago isn't a warning), people were actually invested in the storyline. As for whether to romance Anna or not, personally I find Sarvesh/Summer/whoever entirely uninteresting as romantic prospects, and looking at their characterization and Exa's comments about the romances they seem like they'd be really really shallow and easy in comparison. Plus, it would mean going through a whole new romance again and I'd prefer ending VQ quickly and get on to the next.
>>
>>25182484
Which is a great reason to stop taking such drastic actions beyond the first one. People were quiet because the Anna thing had been left in the background. The situation got resolved, some people were happy, some people went nuts. The resolution got retconned (in some unknown way), some people were happy, some people went nuts.

If people hated the explanation from last thread, fine, retcon something else. Personally, I thought that "I tried, but it didn't work out" was completely and totally plausible as an explanation for Anna, and I also like that it didn't make the cheating out to be part of that. Seemed like the best of both worlds, until now it just didn't happen. I can't think of a more satisfying way for it to have ended.

>>25182539
Funny how that works out when you get what you want by screaming about it.
>>
>>25182550
Actually, "I'm actually gay" is worse, but in any case: it isn't a twist. And it really happens, too. Where do you think the whole "experimenting in college" trope comes from? That's some of it right there.
>>
>>25182484
It *did* calm people down. There were like, 6-7 mentions of it at the start, and then people left it alone for the rest of the thread.

They're angry, but not angry enough to actually shout about it until the after-thread meta discussion.

I'm fine with the retcon because I'm an unrepentant Annafag.
>>
>>25182499
Don't be stupid. As I previously said, we didn't eat the fruit until afterwards (just had one little lick), the fruit only gave visual hallucinations, the hallucinations were obviously weird and not a really coherent and serious conversation.

>>25182507
>Memories are fragile and the human brain LOVES making shit up when it can't actually find what you're trying to remember/think of.
It was altered AT THE TIME, in the thread. Heather can't remember any of it now, apart from having "some sort of conversation".

If that was a hallucination then ANYTHING could be, and we can't even tell the difference. There's actually no point in continuing the quest at all.
>>
Fucking hell, I can't be bothered to stick around for this post thread bitchfit.

Exa, if you're still reading this (perhaps due to masochism or something?), you did fine, you salvaged a bad situation in an okay way.

Please don't change things again just because of what people are saying in this post-thread argument, or you'll end up driving everyone away.

It was a good thread today by the way, thanks, just something calm and fun to help people relax a little.
>>
>>25182589
Sense of time can be altered by anything that alters perception via the 5 senses, leaving order of things happening and the amount of time that passed susceptible to any intoxicant that would alter those senses.
>>
>>25182589
Have you ever been on drugs? They can alter your memories (and memory timeline) pretty harshly. And they don't go from nothing to full blown effect instantly. With something like that, you'll start with small, realistic hallucinations before you start seeing colors and face meldings.
At the time (In real life, that is) it was a real conversation. The retcon makes it so the hallucinogens took effect before that point.
>>
>>25182539
Retconning away the conversation just sets a precedent for letting loud enough complaining undo reality.

Exabyte made a point of saying, really early on, that that was his one "it was a dream" for the rest of his writing career. And then this, which is pretty much the same thing in different clothes. Undo buttons have no place in quests.

>>25182586
>I'm fine with the retcon because I'm an unrepentant Annafag.

That would be the problem, yes. The retcon has thrown together the people who like Anna, the people who don't care about romance, and the people who don't want drama. Doesn't make it a good idea. The conversation last time threw together the people who don't care about romance, the people who don't want drama, and all the people wanting some other love interest. Either one seems problematic, but the retcon seems worse because on top of everything else it sets a bad precedent.
>>
>>25182632
He did 'okay'.

It wasn't good. No doubt about that. It wasn't catastrophic, either. It was meh.

However, you cannot change things again. You've chosen to retcon, and you *must* resolve to stick with that now, or I'll never be able to take you seriously as a writer again. No more back and forth.
>>
>>25182653
There's a lot less rage from the retcon than there was from the anna situation.

I'd say Exabyte is well within his rights to change things, especially since he himself admitted that he made a mistake.
>>
>>25182653
He retconned that first retcon so it became an in universe retcon using a type of clairvoyance, making it not a retcon through the magic of retcons.
>Yo dawg, I heard you like retcons...
>>
>>25182674
This is it. At this stage, retconning the retcon will take away whatever shreds of believability this quest has, whatever people may think, the retconned retcon has happened, and if we retcon that again, it will just collapse in on itself.
>>
>>25182653
What do you want him to do? Retcon the retcon? Shit, I didn't really care much yesterday, but fuck, there's no way he can win, is there?
>>
>>25182580
Let's talk literature.

Story telling is about high points, low points, and a conclusion. The relationship story with Anna has had plenty of high points and low points, and now we're drawing to the conclusion of the story. To conclude a love story with "nevermind nope XD friends" makes for shitty ending. So I don't give a shit if it's "realistic" or not. If I wanted realism I wouldn't be reading a book. Also, to conclude a love story 20 threads before the background plot is finished is just pants on head. And let's face it, most of us are here for the slice of life--the sci-fi is pretty generic, but running a SoL quest takes rare fucking talent (props exa).
>>
Are the folks who despise retcons really advocating another retcon?

Can we just stop at this?
>>
>>25182715

>>25182639

>>25182705
>>25182707
>>25182717
We don't even know what the retcon *was* at this point. It wouldn't take another retcon, it would just take clearing up what "You started... acting as if I said things I didn't." was about, because that doesn't have to have meant the bit about "I'm not gay", or alternatively the part about not getting back together.
>>
>>25182741
But we all know what he meant by it, so he can't really claim now that he just wanted to change the wording of anna breaking up with heather without it being seen as another retcon.
>>
>>25182731
No u?
I mean unless you have something more than "no u" to go on I'll just say it back.
>>
>>25182561
Okay, this is my opinion of the romance: ignoring the fact that it'd be a retcon (so think of this as before last thread), how does Anna not make for by far the best LI plot-wise? Sarvesh was shallow as fuck, now you can blame that on Exa wasting 40 threads on letting people wait for Anna for all the good that did, but his only traits are being shy/self-conscious, being hilariously nice to the point of parody, and having self-esteem issues. If he was a human woman and not a centaur he'd literally be a perfect example of your typical teenage power-fantasy love interest. There would be no interesting decisions or conflicts in the plot, whether it's helping him get over his issues or some kind of family conflict or whatever, it'd all be easy generic romance stuff. Anna provided actual conflict and non-positive emotions which all the people bitching about realism claim to want, grew heaps as a character (and not just in the romance - remember sullen, sickly, introvert Anna? Yeah, she let go of a lot of that before any kind of romance), and is generally a far more rounded character. Sarvesh's only change in character was his letting go of Heather - not that it seems to have done much since he still acts like a lovesick puppy. Other than that he's the same as he was in thread 10.

I just don't see how Sarvesh is appealing at all as anything other than the most basic of wish-fulfillment. Then again, I don't really get what people see in him as a character at all, even ignoring the romance.
>>
>>25182738
No, but drugs and traumatic events can alter your perception of what event occurred first.
>>
>>25182731
Then what the fuck are they? You read them. It's a story. What the fuck do you call that if it's not literature?
>>
>>25182760
>But we all know what he meant by it, so he can't really claim now that he just wanted to change the wording of anna breaking up with heather without it being seen as another retcon.

That was actually one of the possibilities discussed last thread (the idea of "I'm fine with the breakup but that's a lame reason").

But more to the point, no, we don't "all know what he meant"; he might have meant "this'll get everyone to shut up for a while", and lo and behold it did for one thread.
>>

>At this stage, retconning the retcon will take away whatever shreds of believability this quest has
It's already gone, bro. The retcon did that. That is why I am complaining.
>>
>>25182741
>We don't even know what the retcon *was* at this point.
I'll second this. All we know is that something changed.
And I'll be steering Heather clear of finding out what until all this has calmed down.
>>
>>25182776
So quit the quest.
>>
>>25182731
I agree, but many of the same principles apply to both mediums.
>>
>>25182788
>And I'll be steering Heather clear of finding out what until all this has calmed down.

It won't. If people honestly think they can avoid Heather and Anna getting together at this stage without a shitstorm to dwarf the one last thread, they're delusional.
>>
>>25182776
And what do you want done? Do you want him to flip-flop on the issue?
>>
>>25182805
And if you think people can get Anna and Heather together and not get a shitstorm, then you're mad.
It's going to happen either way.
>>
>>25182805
It's almost like it'd be better if we had a vote about what will happen.
>>
>>25182771
Yes, what event occurred first. That's not what happened. You're saying she altered her perception of what events were occurring first. At the time they were occuring.
>>
>>25182826
Samefagging renders voting pointless.
>>
>>25182827
No, I'm saying that perhaps, Heather got high, had her conversation with Anna, went to the kitchen, passed out in Robins room, woke up the next day remembering Anna's conversation took place before getting high.
>>
>>25182823
Perhaps the quest could end with everyone dying in a catastrophic and unexpected reactor meltdown on the station, killing everyone in a firestorm of death and pain.

Then people could nod sagely and talk about what a 'realistic' outcome this was.
>>
>>25182827
Which is really what the retcon is. Changing the order of things, which invalidates the contents of the conversation due to drug interference.
>>
>>25182768
OK, I'll bite, though again I'm arguing this separately from the issue of the as-yet-unknown-effect retcon.

Relationships don't need to be based on drama. In life, having things in common is a good thing. Sarvesh is by far the one with the most in common with Heather. He's the tinkerer and engineer. He's also quite devoted, hence the whole Anna/Sarvesh battle to begin with, and his reluctant giving up on Heather afterward. I also don't see the shallow you're talking about; he's had quite a bit of character development of his own, to the extent that was possible with the focus being elsewhere. Consider his original "explore the galaxy and be immortal" plan, and then him having to moult anyway.

In any case, I think your idea that there'd be no interesting decisions or conflicts is underestimating Exa's ability to write interesting characters, decisions, and conflicts.

>>25182836
Agreed. Voting is a bad idea; asking people to explain and listening to convincing arguments is a better idea. Then the same person posting multiple arguments has no more or less weight than seemingly different people posting those arguments.
>>
>>25182852
Perhaps you could die of a brain aneurysm and we wouldn't have to listen to your bitching?
Please stick to the topic without spouting nonsense.
>>
I wonder, is everyone on both sides sticking around to argue because now that Exa has shown he can be swayed by arguments and conversations outside the threads, they now want to make their point of view look like the most popular, so Exa will do it the way they want...
>>
>>25182826
It all comes down to voting anyway. If Exa does something without input like yesterday it will obviously be a shitstorm, and any other option means vote - asking whether to retcon or not is a vote as easily samefagged by either side as a regular romance vote.

Exa should have just gone with a vote back in thread 16 or whatever it was and locked in a LI at the time. I was worried at the time that it'd just lead to constant flirting and waifufagging instead of regular interactions, and it ended up not only doing that but also streitching the shitstorms through the whole quest instead of getting it over with at the start (plus, as a bonus the lesser attatchment to characters would mean it would be smaller, AND players really invested in romancing a LI that doesn't win can just quit peacefully after a handful of quests instead of being dragged along through 90 for nothing).
>>
>>25182790
I may well do. Seems silly to quit so close to the end though, after 84 threads of build up. I kind of want to see where this train wreck ends.

>>25182821
I don't think there's anything he can do, really. Except learn and not pull this shit in future quests.
>>
>>25182873
>asking people to explain and listening to convincing arguments is a better idea.

Not really, I'd say there's at most about 4 or 5 people posting at the moment, and no-one on either side is going to be convinced by the other side's point of view.

We are effectively all just wailing into a void.
>>
>>25182873
>Agreed. Voting is a bad idea; asking people to explain and listening to convincing arguments is a better idea.

If I see a convincing argument I'll let you know.

>>25182884
Votes make less sense than discussion, since it doesn't matter if you pretend to be five different people in the latter.

I'd also agree that leaving the discussion with Anna for this long strung along the fans of other potential love interests as much as it strung fans of Anna along. I can certainly see the benefits of nailing it down early on and going with it. Quests that do that do seem to avoid pretty much all of the drama.

I'm actually surprised, for instance, that Lamia Quest had basically no drama around the choice of love interest, which happened within the first ten threads. Quick discussion, successful outcome, and then it just nicely fit into the quest from then on.
>>
>>25182849
But she didn't. It happened at the time. You were there in the fucking thread.
She did not wake up the next day thinking the order was the wrong way around, she woke up the next day not really remembering it at all.
>>
>>25182884
Or instead of calling a vote he could have had a LI prepared based on the development of the characters and story. Y'know, like what was happening with Anna before he pooped on it for no reason (which he admits was a mistake to be fair). Also I was a Damienfag for the record
>>
>>25182550
Except the 'I'm actually straight' didn't come out of buttfuck nowhere and was pretty plausible in character. Why? There was a clear amount of time between the break-up and the 'I'm not gay' conversation where Anna had time to ruminate on the entire thing.
Also?
>(a single sentence from 60 threads ago isn't a warning)
Yes, it is a solid warning and was very well at the time the two characters decided to get into the relationship. The Anna crowd really shoulda kept that in mind while opting to romance a chick who wasn't entirely sure if she liked women.

>>25182580
This guy who responded to you has it right.
The majority of these characters are still basically kids whom mostly have been seemingly established not to have any experience with romance.

Letting things happen naturally via character interaction instead of just 'locking in' a vote is way, way better and a helluva more realistic thing to happen and read about, even if this story is well beyond the bounds of reality.
>>
>>25182873
Sarvesh is fucking boring.
>>
>>25182951
I was all for summer at the beginning, tigerwaifu is best waifu.
>>
>>25182913
>If I see a convincing argument I'll let you know.

That's exactly my point.

The only convincing argument I've seen about the retcon is the one that, leaving people's reactions to the *outcome* aside, Anna's explanation last thread made perfect sense, and retconning it sets a bad precedent.

As far as love interests go, I've seen convincing arguments for Anna, Sarvesh, and a couple for Damien. And reading those and going with what makes sense for the characters seems more reasonable than taking whoever has the most dedicated posters of duplicate votes.
>>
>>25182948
Anna is NOT gay, or at least she wasn't before last thread. Remember when Theta made everyone super horny and Anna was begging Heather for sexytime? Yeah, being horny doesn't make anyone gay.
>>
Thank fuck, the thread's halfway down page 10 and soon you will all have to stop arguing pointlessly over the retcon.
>>
>>25182935
That is a reasonable argument, based on what Exabyte has said early in the quest. I change my position.
Keep the retcon.

>>25182935
I don't think you understand, the events from last thread are now as Heather remembered them, not as they happened.
>>
>>25182934
>>25182985
Missed link.
>>
>>25182768
>grew heaps as a character
Pfftahaha

>remember sullen, sickly, introvert Anna? Yeah, she let go of a lot of that before any kind of romance
Yeah, it just suddenly disappeared for no discernible reason as she morphed into a better waifu for you fucks.
>>
>>25182038
Today was calm.

Please keep the retcon.
>>
I'm fine with any retcon as long as Exa's fine with me raising hell and demanding a retcon every time we fail a roll.

Did that sound juvenile? Because it's pretty much what you annafags are saying.
>>
>>25183004
But it isn't.
>>
>>25182969
She has problems I want to solve. Also she had the best hero-scene from the VQ attack.
