Rogul denied you passage across his land, but, inspired by Flint's plea, a human with Rogul's group named Kirt offered to vouch for the party while they were in orc territory.You've spent the day recuperating, then sparring with Flint and Kirt, who is an incredibly skilled swordsman himself.You found a Shadow mana pool hidden below refuge in the upper levels of the Timorian Deep. You fought a powerful Shadow Elemental and consumed it, earning a Shard of True Darkness...though you don't yet know its purpose.In the early morning, you finally resolved Flint and Auriel's relationship. Flint has openly declared his affections for her, and, for now, has put his old pains firmly behind him. Satisfied, you took some time to reflect.You met with the Sage, Taremtis, who answered one question from each member of your party. Others trip and writhe on the ground, hurting each other and those around them. Still others shriek like mad and burrow back into the ground, or run screaming down the tunnel. Even the Vog surrounding the other sides of your party feel the effects, some turning tail, the rest freezing in place as if cut off from one another.When you leap at the confused enemy, it's almost unfair. But you already know the world isn't fair. There is only Shadow, and Justice.You eviscerate them like so many cattle. Your limbs warp and stab through the air, killing them all in an instant. I'm just waiting for one of the side characters to actually bring forth a logical and effective argument against us. We've been "in the right" so often that it's actually beginning to get boring.

So, what should we get as our first summon?I like fae, since it's fire. The only 'higher' element summon we have available there.
Magic power is fun, but I'd like to buff our physical stats up some more. A lot of our recent fights have been close calls. Specifically, diamond barrier to finish up the defense tree and work towards unlocking the darkness tree. Or perhaps Shadow Beam. I'd like to put more into our shadow "theme" before branching out into more elements.Better to be a master of one than a jack of all.

To Xella a soul is just like meat. She eats it survive. Demons are to souls as vampires are to blood. The difference is that souls are the last remnant of a things existence. We do not know where the souls go. But if Xella eats them that is the end. For those that are irredeemable we will consider it. For all we know the souls reincarnate without memory a blank slate or they reincarnate with full memories. Or drift in a different place. But such introspection should be left for another time.

Didn't Flint say that if we started summoning shit he'd call off our partnership?And I think that Cone of Destruction might work good for us. Since we're so damn fast, we can rush in with a tackle, then blast them while they're down.
There's a ton of low cost stuff in the Shadow tree that we should really be grabbing before branching out further, IMO.Twisting Gloom, Doom Aura, Fog, Soundless, Multishade, Shadow Mask, Shadow Control. They may not be as fancy as the higher stuff but they'd offer some amazing potential combos and buffs for less cost.

I just don't think that summoning is really our thing. We have our wisp, and we've steadfastly ignored it entirely. I think that trying to keep track of a bunch of summons would bog us down, both in game and in meta, as we all argue the best ways to use our minions.

We KNOW these things use magic and have a hive consciousness. Presumably they would cast spells as a group as well. We should be ready to use Nightflare to counteract whatever the group above us is preparing if it's magical. Auriel seemed to suggest that the ACTUAL scary thing about the Vog comes when they're doing magic things rather than just trying to skitter around and bite your kneecaps, so stopping them from doing magic seems like an excellent plan.If their plan is just "herp, drop down onto them and eat!", that's more easily handled by protecting allies with our Aura and beating on them with Shiva.

Having multiple casters channel a single spell is a classic way of handling this kind of thing; not sure if multiple caster rituals are an actual possible thing with respect to this setting's magic.)
The classic method of breaking a hammer-and-anvil trap is to smash through the anvil before the hammer comes down, then whirl around to fight the hammer. So we should've powered through them, but I got in here too late.

The problem with Xella is that she IS a template. I still want to keep working on Xella, just to see if it will actually work. I'd be disappointed if the quest ended and Shadow Master told us that we just needed to put in some more effort to have her as an ally. She can whisper poison in our ears if she wants, we're incorruptible by dint of being a hivemind of white knights. She's already stated that she won't hurt anyone we don't want hurt, and we can feed her bandits. Let's look at facts:Pros:She's a powerful caster, physically strong, can fly, knows a lot of shit, and has sworn herself to our service.Cons:She believes herself to be superior to humans and that they are food for her. She attempts to convince us of the same, and sees Aurelia as an enemy. Frankly, I don't think the cons outweigh the pros.
