You are a Magical Girl, and you're currently having coffee with one of your former clients. A client whose life you'd saved twice, in as many times as she's hired you. Well, maybe more times than that, but you don't keep really keep count. All you counted, really, was the paycheck you got afterwards.

Maybe the kills you got during the job was worth counting, sure, but even that got old. Kill tallies were all well and good, and even Kyoko herself got a bit fussy over hers, but you never did see the point of it. Who cares how many people you've killed, anyway? What was the point? Sure, it looks nice on your record. It's a conversation starter. But you've never felt it was worth bragging about. You've never thought it was a reliable standard of how good someone was. It was nothing but a running total of how many people you've murdered. The act itself wasn't worth celebrating, it was just something you had to do. It certainly isn't something worth trying to keep track of.

...A sudden surge of melancholic, introspective guilt aside, you note idly that it's been a while since you killed someone.

Unless killing a fragment of yourself counts, but that probably just counts as masturbation. Maybe. You can't verify right now.

In any case. You're having coffee right now with Minase Iori, 765 Productions idol. She's just given you the opportunity to do what you came here for - and not one to waste an opportunity when it's all but dropped onto your lap, you go for it.

You tried to be gentle about it, the first time you gave this...talk. Of course it still came out unfeeling, rough, and callous - something you'd want to blame on your cigarette-ruined voice, but there's a limit to just how much you're willing to delude yourself. One thing's for sure, though. You don't want to cause a scene, not with so many people looking on. You'd like not to cause tears, no matter how inevitable that seems to be. You'd like to be considerate, here, is what you're trying to get at. For once in yourlife, you'd like to do the right thing.

Iori is looking at you, expectantly, hanging onto your every word.

The shield clamped on your right arm is clicking faintly, so faintly, that you're not sure if it's clicking at all.

How do you let Iori down?
>>
>>25067737
Aren't you a little early, Decu? Not complaining.

> How do you let Iori down?
Calm but firm. We end it here and now, before we drag her deeper into the madhouse that is Chiaki's life but there's no need to twist the knife even deeper.

>Repost from last thread since I posted it too late last time

"No. No she won`t. I´m pretty sure I can come up with a bunch of reasons why she is interested in me and none of those have anything to do with love or lust. I won`t fall for her.

That said, Iori, I want us to be on the same page regarding that. You are my Employer and you are my friend. And I would prefer us to just stay friends, if possible."

I think this pretty clear without ourright telling her in her face that we don`t love her around all the other idols.

I also have the sneaking suspicion that the Rape-Otaku-Incident wasn`t some shitty thing that just happened. I mean, come on, how exactly would some shitty Otakus compromise Hotel Security? Why did we never investigate that? You need some sort of wealth to do that. They were paid to pull that shit. How to better ruin an Idol than fucking rape her and get the Rapevids in Television or the Internet.

The world of idols in noir truly is a terrifying one. And not so different from our live after all.
>>
>>25067737

>>Apologize for being so standoffish and not considering her feelings earlier, explain that we were not used to treating people all that well, then calmly explain that even though we think she's great, we're not really suited for each other, and make sure she understands that even though there might be some mutual attraction, we're not letting her down just because it would be too hard, or too dangerous, but because we genuinely want to just stay friends and not go any further.

Was my preferred response from last thread.

Whatever we end up going with, drag Iori aside first. Get at least a modicum of privacy and not humiliate the girl in front of her friends.

Politely, but don't leave any room for error, make sure it's very clear that we're letting her down. If possible get her somewhere a bit with more privacy.

"Iori, Ruri, no doubt a crazy bint with a strange obsession with Magical Girls, isn't going to steal me away from you.

This is for two reasons, firstly, I'm not going to get involved with her beyond my job, my life is complicated enough as it is and I am in no way looking for a relationship with her. It's simply an absurd idea.

The second reason is because I am not something that can be stolen from you as I do not belong to you. I enjoy your company, I consider you one of the few friends who I've managed to find. But we're not anything more than that.

You really don't want us to be more than that, we'd both regret it the first time you find giblets of flesh in my hair, I might want to trim it some time but it can wait, or stumble on any other number of odious habits and personality traits.

I'm not a good person by any stretch of the imagination, or in any way suited towards a relationship with you, and luckily for you you're not a good match for me, anyone who was a good match for me would have to be about as fucked in the head as I am. I'm not going to drag a nice girl like you into hell just because I like your company. It'd be vile of me to do so. The closer I am to someone the more likely they are to get emotionally, mentally, or physically scared and hurt.

So yeah, I suck, feel free to do the traditional thing of throwing coffee into my face and running away, I deserve it by this point. Sorry."

>Iori is looking at you, expectantly, hanging onto your every word.

Its not just Iori, remember where we are.

Anyway, lets just get on with it.

"I want to talk about us."

"We don't know much about each other. All I know about you is that your an idol that works with 765 studios and all you know about me is that I am a magical girl who drinks, smokes and kills for money"

"You want the kind of life where legions of fans phrase your name, where everyone talks about you as the next big idol"

"You won't get that life if you stay with me, there might be one time where I wouldn't return and I wouldn't be able to protect you from everything"

"I'm sorry, but we can't be together"

"If you want to thank me for saving you. Please go and life your life and become a great idol. Live a life worth saving"
>>
>>25067840
I actually rather like this one.

Though, we may want to suggest we talk away from the other idols first, no matter what else.

Most of these ways of letting her down seem pretty reasonable, but if she starts to try and make a case against what we're proposing, we need to make DAMN sure that she knows that we're perfectly amenable to staying in touch, but that if it ever comes to her trying to contract with an Incubator in order to bypass the "there's no way it could work; we're from two different worlds" spiel, we would never be able to forgive her for it. She has a good thing going, and throwing it all away while simultaneously going back on her promise to us never to involve herself in our line of work is where we would absolutely draw the line.

So for what it's worth, despite seeing this quest around all the time, I hadn't really given it a second look. Figured I'd check it out, and read the whole backlog between last thread and this one. Shit's pretty interesting, but it's in a brutal timeslot as far as participating goes.

You take a deep breath, before letting it out in words that...you have no prior experience of saying. Words you'd never thought you'd say to anyone, ever. Even the simple concept of it is...well, laughable at best. But you say them, anyway, and you hope that even with your horrible voice and half-murmured enunciation that Iori would hear you and believe you.

You tell her what you've told her, back then, before you left for Siberia - but you manage to do it in a way that you feel manages to carefully nudge the message home more than shove it right into her face. You tell her that you still believe she deserves better - much better - than you could ever live up to be. You're not a good person, nor do you see yourself becoming one in the future - and you're definitely not someone she wants to be with, nor be seen with.

By this time, Iori's face had gone pale, her eyes wide and staring, now glistening with unshed tears, but you forge on. There's no stopping, not when you've committed yourself to this course of action.

You go on to tell her that you wanted to talk to her, today, to make sure she understood. That something happening between the both of you, something more than friendship - is something neither of you want. Friends, nothing more and nothing less. For both your sakes.

. . .

You lower your head as you hear the first half-choked sob come from the idol. You wait a few moments, before asking if she understood everything you've told her.

[1/2]
>>
>>25068270
Yeah, that sounds right.
>>
>>25068274

Not really know.

Unless you're talking about shit like Yakuza48
>>
>>25068284

"...Iori?" You look up, and immediately regret doing so.

She's smiling, here, despite the tears trickling down her cheeks.

"I...I understood everything, Chiaki-san," She says in a quivering voice, the volume barely above a whisper. "I...I knew you were going to say that. And...and I tried to accept it as much as I could, when you told me the first time, before you left. I tried my best, Chiaki-san, I...I honestly really did. I accepted that...that Chiaki-san just wanted to be friends, and nothing else."

It's then that she hangs her head, eyes squeezing shut. The tears now flowing freely.

"...B-but it still hurts when you say it, Chiaki-san. It...it still hurts to hear you say it. Even if I know that it's the right thing to do - that all Chiaki-san wants is to just be friends..." Another choked sob, this time muffled by her own gloved hands coming up to cover her mouth. As if trying desperately to smother her cries, although the result of it makes it sound all the worse.

You feel absolutely wretched as you let Iori cry. Right there, in the coffee shop, in the full view of the idols still blatantly scoping the scene, frilled voyeurs with sharp expressions. You...you really wish you could have done this somewhere more private. Somewhere less populated. Where Iori could have cried over how much of an idiot you really are with her dignity preserved, not laid out bare to the bone like this.

What do you do, now?

[]Let her cry it out until she stops. A girl should be allowed to shed tears in peace.
[]Say your goodbyes and leave, right now. You're the last person she needs at the moment.
[]Get out of your chair and take her somewhere private. In your car, maybe. Try to salvage what little of her dignity is left.

The car has a lot of potential to send mixed messages to the other idols, as well as for Iori to leave behind hair or something that Midori will misinterpret. If we have to take her somewhere, walk there.

Maybe tell her that, in a different life, we might very well have ended up more than friends. But to do so as we are now would just be irresponsible and selfish.

>>

>[x]Get out of your chair and take her somewhere private.

Important points to cover:
A - Continue to apologize. It really isn't her, it's us. And the mutant cat we sold our soul to, maybe, but mostly us.

B - We do still want to be friends, and if there's ever a pair of kneecaps that need a magical .50 round through, we'll be ther.

C - Continue to punt all mutant talking cats on sight. If she wants something (us) bad enough, one of them might make an offer, and we should stress how incredibly bad of an idea that is.
>>

Midori is not that ridiculously insecure

The worst we would have to deal with is idol gossip

Midori won't misinterpret anything. She knows how spaghetti we are.

Misaka is the prophet and we will have to choose between her and Mami.
Ruri is a magical girl planning to kill us for the Golden Weapons.
Iori is going to contract at the concert to try and save us.
Iori will find out we're hooking up with the girl hired to help have her raped and possibly murdered.
Midori will be hijacked by Jubey and forcibly witched.

Nothing at all!

I.. I´m not really sure what is the sensible thing to do.

On one hand getting everything out of the system is good for her and fuck dignity, she is a teenage girl for gods sake. On the other hand, you would usually want to cry in peace where no one can bother you and in private.

And you usually do not want to get a hug or sympathy from someone who just dumped you, nor be around that person because that just hurts more.

>>25068563

What I'm a bit worried about is whether QB's contract override is still wholly intact when Mirai sacrificed her life so that her soulgem could be used to house Midori's soul. While Jyubey wasn't able to make Midori witch-out in Siberia, we do not know if the whole soulgem business with Mirai would allow Jyubey a greater degree of control over Midori.

Of course, this all depends on whether the soulgem factors in at all with a contract, or if it's just something that is created as a consequence. It might be important enough to ask QB about.

You stand up and make your way around the table, towards Iori. Yes, alright, you've made her cry, the same way you did when you said goodbye before taking off to Siberia. But she was somewhere safe then - inside a big mansion, surrounded with maids and someone who seemed to genuinely like her despite being a fanboy. It was alright to leave her then, safe to simply remove yourself from the premises and allow her to recover. But here...well, Iori is out in the open. Out in public. A popular idol, popular enough that someone rich enough and sick enough actually orchestrated a plan to rape her and put it out on video. This was something similar - not as sick, but just as damning. Just as damaging.

Before you could take Iori's hand, however, to pull her gently out of her chair and lead her to the car - you see most of the idols that have been watching had risen out of their seats, too. Their eyes narrowed at you as they approach as a group, heads with multicolored hair teased into hairstyles you didn't even know was possible. If you...if you hadn't killed them all personally, you'd have mistaken them for Kilgore's harem. All they needed, really, was knives in their hands and bloody tears dripping down their cheeks, inking lines on grinning faces.

"That's far enough, please," One of them, a tall idol with long golden-blonde hair, styled into a rather unruly, carefree way - speaks up. "Don't come any closer to Iori. You've done enough, thank you. We'll take it from here. Please leave before you do any more damage."

You easily return the collective glare aimed at you - well enough that some of them actually step back, or hide behind their companions - but the rest seems to be determined to stare you down. Despite, you know, you being a Magical Girl and all that. Someone who could, if she wanted, freeze time and end their careers with a point-blank Vindicare makeover.

...Or maybe that was the point, in and of itself? Either way, they've got guts, these idols.

"Matsuda-san." Another voice chimes in, imperious, cold, haughty, but more refined, more elegant. You glance at the direction where it came from, and see Takane Shijou stepping forward from the crowd. One of the idols you met in the gala, where you went undercover as Iori's maid.

"I wish we could have met again in better circumstances. Now that I see your true form, I would have liked to have spend time with you. But as Miki-san said, we'll take it from here. Not just because we wish to protect her from anything else you might do, but also to protect her from anyone else who may see this." Takane gestures towards Iori with a slow, careful hand. "Should the media catch wind of this, it would not be very pretty."

It's then that she narrows her eyes at you, ever so slightly. "Please, Matsuda-san. Couldn't you have chosen a better time to do this? Right here, right now, before the concert?" Her tone seems to be chiding, here.

How do you react?

[]Try to defend yourself. All you wanted was to clear this up before it got too bad.

Ah, sorry. had to get something to eat.

To be honest, I'd prefer to remove those bits from the Ebook and put them in a separate one. The only reason why I don't is because previous times that I've asked the only answer I got was to leave those bits in. Granted, I've only asked twice on /tg/ and I only got one answer of "leave them in" each time.

The only reason why I'm not going to make separate Ebooks is because it takes about an hour to convert the files and upload as is, and I'd rather not needlessly double that. If I do remove those bits and put them in a separate Ebook, then I won't upload the version that has them all in one.

If everyone else wants the Decu and non-Decu bits separated in different Ebooks, I'llv start doing that from now on.

Why the fuck did we do this here and now again? We should've grilled her for info and let her down gently later, away from the prying eyes of media and idols.

Murderface's spaghetti only excuses so much.

You nod at Takane, acknowledging your mistake. It's...well, she's right. You could have done this some other time, after this whole business with Kirishima Ruri's over and done with. But at the same time...you needed to clear the air. You needed to make sure she understood. Because it would've turned out badly for the both of you. Like...well, like how it's going, now.

...You should have waited. Maybe. But what's done is done. At least Iori's safe now, in hands of people she can trust. You step away as two idols break off from the main group and approach Iori, staring daggers at you the entire way. Short brown hair, with those cute short ponytails. Twins, from the look of them. One of them kneels down beside Iori, taking her hand and murmuring something you can't hear. The other places both hands on Iori's shoulders, leaning in close to whisper as well.

"...Your being silent doesn't really help with our opinion of you, Matsuda-san, but at least we know you understand, now." Takane says, seemingly speaking for the whole group. "If that is all, then please leave. The paparazzi may be coming along any moment, and we really don't want them complicating matters more than they already are, now."

You have no reply as you take your your cap from the table and put it back on, doing so unhurriedly, carefully. You turn back to Iori, who seems to be responding to whatever the twins are telling her, having stopped crying for the time being - and then tell Takane to take care of her. She nods gravely at this.

"I will, Matsuda-san. I promise you this."

You nod at her one last time, before making to stalk back to your car. It's not that far of a walk, but it felt that way, what with the rest of the assembled idols still trying to hate you to death.

Your hand is on the door when Iori's voice suddenly cuts through the thick silence.

"CHIAKI-SAN!"

[1/2]

She doesn't as much say your name as she does shout it, the tinge of desperation in her voice. Not just that, but loneliness. A loneliness that spoke of many nights alone, many days spent trying to work up a smile when you felt empty inside - a loneliness that burned your insides slowly, consuming you inside out, leaving you completely hollow.

"I want to be your friend! Friends... just being friends with Chiaki-san is okay!" You turn to see Iori standing up from her seat, fists clenched, eyes determined even through tears. "B-but...I have to know, please. Did...did Chiaki-san ever feel the same way, even a little bit? Or...is it simply that I never had a chance...?"

Guys. For all those of you going the whole "Yes but no because Magical Girl life is pain" route; keep in mind, this might make her think "If I become a Magical Girl, I can be more than just friends with Chiaki-san! Then everything will be fine!"

My vote is to lie, and tell her she never had a chance. Unrequited love is ultimately less painful than knowing you had a chance and blew it. We need to make this unequivocally about US, not about what might or could have been.

"I'm sorry, Iori. But no."

With some strain, remove glasses to wipe our face. It's just dust or rain in our eyes, surely. We definitely knew we had SOME strong reaction to her before. We thought we were dead to all feeling, and yet she brought some out in us. She deserves to have her question answered honestly, and we'll do so with a nod. "Y.. Yes. To the, first thing."

Turn, and leave, trying to look cool instead of awkward as we walk away.

But unrequited love is dangerous love, especially if we expect Dickbutt or Golden Weapon shenanigans. If we stomp on her heart in front of 765, our mission is going to get a lot harder. You turn away just as Iori sobs again. You're already getting into the car as you see her friends stepping forward, crowding around her. Takane wrapping her arms around the brown-haired idol and leading her deeper into the coffee shop, away from you. She turns to meet your gaze, giving you an impassive nod before going back to the matter at hand. You shut the door on that scene, blocking your view and theirs with bulletproof tinted glass.

To her credit, Kumatora doesn't say anything for a while, instead quietly starting the car up and driving off. Seemingly getting the hint that you just needed to get away from there as quickly as possible.

The coffee shop disappears behind you in no time, and it's only after a while that Kumatora speaks again.

"There's tissue in the dispenser, sempai," She says, in a voice much more sedate than her usual cheerful one. "The one in the back seat armrest."

Ah. Yeah. That thing that folds up into the back seat itself. You locate it, and tear off a few sheets.

"Where to now, sempai?" Kumatora asks after you've finished wiping your eyes and blowing your nose. Your shield is clicking a bit more audibly now, loud enough for you to hear it clearly, but seemingly unnoticed by the Eversor driving you around. "I can drive around a bit more for you if you just want to cool off for a bit..."

Then your reading comprehension is shit-tier, given all of the times that Chiaki's internal monologue has said that she cares for Iori.

You are absolute shit at predicting consequences, and that kind of cavalier give-no-fucks attitude is what gets people killed in a neo-noir.

"Sabpyon." Perfect. She was waiting for me in my room when I got back, just sitting on my bed.

"Sabpyon, what did you do with my tablet." The vox whatever in her helmet makes it pretty hard to figure out what Mal's thinking most of the time, but this was...even, I guess. Little more even than usual.

What tablet?

"Don't screw with me, Sabpyon."

I told her I fed it to Lily, because I totally thought about it for like...probably longer than it took to make me the biggest asshole. I couldn't keep the shit-eating grin off my face, though - but hell, that's half of why I wear a helmet.

"Bullshit. If you're going to be like this, I'm going to go find it." She stood and made for the door, like she was gonna squeeze past me. I slammed my arm into the frame at about her chest-height, and when she tried to duck under, blocked even lower than that with my pipe, then shoved her back with it. I pulsed a little rust her way, but it fizzled against her. It was just to make sure she knew I wasn't fuckin' around - I could take off my suit and shove my tongue down her throat and I couldn't do shit against her.

She seemed to get the hint, anyway. Stopped trying to get through, just glared up at me with her hands on her hips.

I gave it to someone, see, to hide for me. So she couldn't mindread it out of me or whatever until she'd actually taken a fucking day off for a change.

"Oh. So Nakajima has it."

Fuck! N...no.

She slipped under my pipe, awkwardly squeezing through the door while I stood there like a retard trying to figure out a better plan. I didn’t really come up with one, but I had to do somethin’. So I jumped her and put her in a headlock.

Mal ain’t a pussy. She can get out of a headlock, usually with the careful administration of a couple of kidney shots. So I expected that, kinda. But all she did was start laughin’. Which was great. I could work with that.

“This really means a lot to you, huh?” I explained that I’d set things up so that nobody’d explode if she wasn’t babysitting for a day. I talked Miss Mami and Dorothy into accompanying the big shots for the day, and between those two there was no way anyone out there was gonna have any kind of fun. Unless they had fun by quietly sipping coffee at a café somewhere and talkin’ about…sweaters, or someshit.

C’mon, Mal. Don’t be a dick. Be a dude.

“You can let me go, Sabpyon. Just make sure I get it back when we’re done.” Yessss. This was gonna be awesome. Fuckin’, we never got to do this stuff, what with Mal pretty much fucking running the Ninth. I didn’t let her go until I’d dragged her all the way back into my room and shut the door behind me.

>>25069953
I didn’t keep a whole lot of shit in my room. Bass guitar that I probably needed to practice more. Bed. High-end PC I mostly used to zone out when I was tired. And the centerpiece, a big-ass motherfucking TV surrounded by piles of…fucking, media, I guess. VHS. DVD. Blu-ray. Even had a coupla laserdiscs but those were mostly, y’know, collector’s items. The TV was my baby, though – had Dorothy help me pick out something made for pretty much a home theater, since she’s into that shit, too. Made it easy to spend days just…sitting and watching movies.

And that’s what Mal liked to do, when we got the time. No fuss. No runnin’ around. No cleanin’ up. She was part of the reason I got this big motherfucker, but I wouldn’t tell her that. She’d pro’lly never believe how much I fucking love this TV again.

We were on our third movie. …’The Last Song’, after ‘The Notebook’ and ‘Nights in Rodanthe’. …Shut up. Shut the fuck up. Okay? Mal was…she liked that kind of shit. We were gonna marathon all of Sparks’s movies. Have a big fuckin’ crygasm.

Her visor was flipped up by the end of ‘The Notebook’, and her eyes were all pink and puffy. …Uh, more pink than usual. At this point her nose was turnin’ red from all the tissues she was burning on it, and…well, I guess mine wasn’t much better. Neither of us said anything, though. Bro code. I wasn’t allowed to be a girl about this shit, and nobody got to pretend Mal was anything but an immovable, sarcastic rock.

(3/6)
>>
>>25069961
…When we finished ‘The Last Song’, something that was nagging at me a little bit finally…I guess I finally had the chance to say it, without fucking up the atmosphere. This wasn’t the first time we’d sat and watched sappy movies together, but we didn’t usually get enough time to think about it. I guess I wanted to know why she liked ‘em so much. I was surprised when she seemed to take the question so seriously, but it’s not like that was weird for her.

“I watch movies like this to remind myself that love makes people do stupid things.” She only thought about it for a second, and there was no hesitation in her voice at all once she spoke. Creaked a little bit because she’d been cryin’, though. Then she offered that smile that…I guess felt like it only belonged to me. I don’t think anyone else ever got to see it. A smile that kinda pushed my worries way to the back of my mind. Mal really had a way of making everything seem okay, even when they were already pretty good.

“What about you?”

…Me? Never really thought about it. It was different from everything, I guess. It was stuff that I never thought’d happen to me when I was in the hospital, and it’s all shit that’s…a hell of a lot fluffier than life now. Not that I’d trade what I got for some cheesy romance novel. …I had a girlfriend that got up early to bake apple pie whenever she was gonna be busy working all day.

I’d give up a lot of shit for that pie.

So you're saying we left Iori marinating in her tears for like a whole 80 threads? Still the same shit?
>>
>>25069958
It can always get worse. Always.
>>
>>25069964
We were up to ‘A Walk to Remember’ when the door cracked open. We moved in unison – two visors snapped down at once, and in about a second and a half, a couple of tissue boxes and a huge mound of wadded-up tissues were swept off the bed, and instead of some sappy movie neither of us’d ever be caught dead with, Die Hard was on.

…Then it was just Lily, and I think both of us felt a little retarded. I sure did. Lily didn’t care, and she wouldn’t say anything. Looked like she’d been crying, too, and she sniffed loudly as she poked her head in.

“Lieutenant Hartford. What brings you to this very super-important Culexus strategy meeting?” Malal straightened up immediately and assumed a faux-military tone. Man, she really knew how to deal with kids – I could never pull that off with a straight face. I wondered how much she did this kind of thing back at the Ninth. Lily sniffed again and let herself in the room, closing the door quietly behind her and snapping a half-hearted salute.

“Miss Marigold’s leaving, and I don’t know what to do.” She settled in between us on the bed and Mal took her hand and squeezed it. I ruffled her hair a little, myself, and she smiled a little. Malal gave me a look over the top of her head, and over our helmets’ private comm channel, she urged me on.

After a second, I reached over and dug out a half-used box of tissues for her. I wasn’t sure what to say right away, but under Mal’s visor, I could almost see that smile.

…Sometimes love makes people do…weird things. I said it, but it sounded half-assed coming out of my mouth, so I was pretty quick to try and follow it up. The Warmaster…Miss Marigold found someone really special to her. Special enough to jump ship.

“But I’m not special enough for her to stay…?”

Shit. Damn it Mal why are you just sitting there. Her voice crackled through the comm channel again.

-Step it up, senpai.-

(5/6)
>>
>>25069957
Break-up being messy was a given, we're still a social fuck-up.

And friend part is hardly our fault
>>
>>25069970
So I did. I told Lily exactly what I thought about the whole thing. Warmaster Marigold was batshit crazy and she was probably leaving so she and the Spiritual Liege of the Seventh could bloodfuck every goddamn day without anyone being able to stop them. …Lily stared up at me with the eyes of a kid that didn’t know what the hell she was just told. Which was…probably pretty accurate. It seemed to dawn on her after a couple of seconds, though, and she nodded.

“The Spiritual Liege is strong, so Miss Marigold wants to eat her.” Mal snorted in her mask, and I had to fight back a laugh, too.

Yeah, Shortcakes. That’s exactly right. Kid didn’t seem all that happy about it, but at least she wasn’t crying, now.

With the grace and timing of someone used to cleaning up other people’s shit every day of her life, Mal whipped out a jawbreaker a minute later, after Lily’d calmed down some. Made a cute comment about it being bonus pay, since she was being such a good soldier about all this, then tossed it into the air a bit. A second later, it was in Lily’s mouth, wrapper and all, and after an earsplitting crunch, she spit out the wrapper, with just a little bit of candy-colored saliva in it.

Man, Lily sucks at jawbreakers.

It seems to me that Iori knew what this conversation would be about and chose this place despite that. It may be that she was trying to pressure us into not doing it socially, which is pretty underhanded.

Either way, I'm still glad we did it instead of just using her for information on the mission.
>>
>>25070230

Mostly somewhat open to guarded. It's like UFO rumors and sightings. Some people are convinced they're there and they're real, some people aren't. Of course, you also have to factor in that some of the Incubators have their claws in the media.
>>
>>25070283

I don't think so.

In the previous thread, a good number of us offered that we should do it privately and it was the option that alot of folks voted for. To pull Iori away privately to do this.
>>
>>25070257
Let me remind you that after the very post describing the cafe our only choice was
>hat on
>hat off

And then we only tried to handle the situation, so fuck off.
Chiaki was already thinking only about Iori
>>
>>25070283
>How's this for an answer
I'd give it a 9/10
>>
>>25070313
If the option's chosen after decu goes to bed and after the thread archive is done, he's not going to see it. There's a point after which the votes stop counting.
>>
>>25070308
If our shield isn't making funny noises, that means Pinky's not in a hurry to see us, right?
>>
>>25070313
Yes, I supported that because it meant it would be done with faster

Instead the result we got and another goddamned argument which is little better than an Internet slap fight
>>
>>25070330
I'd like to think that Decu is capable of checking the archive.
>>
>>25070339
He is capable but he isn't going to since when he says thread is over it generally means nothing beyond that point counts
>>
>>25070339
Read the whole post, man. It's like two sentences. The archive doesn't constantly update on its own. And he already waits for quite a while in most cases before calling chikuwa, giving people plenty of time to vote.

In this case? A bunch of people changed their minds after it mattered. That sucks, and I'm sorry, guys. But it is what it is.
>>
>>25070339
But counting the opinions after the game is done is stupid.
Session done means that session is done.

Also
Most of the people abandon the thread right after archive is up and the can vote on It
>>
>>25070318
Then how about you back and read how Chiaki was aware of her surroundings.
She was aware of the gossipping of the idols and well aware of the situation she was in.

Having the hat on or off doesn't mean jack shit to whether we deal with Iori publically or privately.

Yes that is post game answers time

Not "quickly decide that this plan that was too late is now what you want and I will count it" time

All the drama now implies that something of value was lost.

Which is wrong. Suck it up and move on, we have other things to look forward to.

>>
>>25070400
Not that something of value was lost, but that unnecessary complications were created.

We have to make sure that the paparazzi are dealt with so that this doesn't get out, who knows what the idols not affiliated with 765 Productions will do with this information, and this could complicate the security detail when the fans hear of this.
>>
>>25070366
I did.

But. Are you going to argue with the presented choices?
Can you seriously say that
"customers you notice are also idols, some of them wearing the same costume as Iori is. A few of them eye you critically with narrowed eyes, while some hunker down with their friends, resuming their conversation in hushed whispers, turning to look at you after every sentence or two."
Is very noteworthy? Maybe in retrespect but then?
Did you, or anyone else went Shadowrun on that situation?

We did good. We went with the flow. Made choices from presented options and got a decent outcome.
Deal with It
>>
>>25070400
We did lose something of value. And it was the only possible outcome
>>
>>25070400
>All the drama now implies that something of value was lost.
We were breaking up with teenage girl in a crowded cafe.

Of fucking course there was drama

There is nothing to imply with facts.
>>
>>25070447
There is a wonderful thing called delegation
We have a lot of power so we use it to our advantage
>>
>>25070451
Of course we can argue with presented choices.
And yes, people were bringing up that we were in the center of a group of eavesdropping idols and that we needed to keep quiet on several subjects and that we needed to be careful.

>The chattering starts up again, more furtively and insiduous this time
>but you could tell by the stares that there's plotting and scheming going on.

This was pretty noteworthy since the character already picked up on it and knew it for what it was.
>>
>>25070550
And? In the end we decided to forge on regardless. Whining doesn't change that you were outvoted.
>>
>>25070569
Then admit that you ignored all of the warning signs, that you intentionally took the stupid route, and that you're going to get us killed because of your idiocy.
>>
>move Iori somewhere more private
The rest of 765 would've moved against it.
>>
>>25070602
Not if it was before we made her cry.
>>
We should have worn the hat guys

the hat would have saved us
>>
>>25070600
Holy shit, you're stubborn.

No, guy.
We ignored what any sane person would take as a normal girl-talk, staring at the jerkass who makes their friend cry. Then we took the polite talk ending with a pretty fucking standard break-up scene and there is nothing that will give us anything more than butthurt and cold shoulders.

Deculture agrees, don't bother him about It
>>
>>25070639
Now that is the best "we should have done this" post this thread.

The hat had fair chance of making us too cool to be hated
>>
>>25070655
>Deculture agrees
It was better than expected and a "very kind" answer, but that doesn't quite equal "good". Don't get ahead of yourself.
>>
>>25070600
>get us killed
Okay we joke about going shadowrun level of paranoia but chill the fuck out

We are not going to get horribly murdered because we made a fucking idol cry

We have a goddamn insane goddess who has once before torn our heart out, who has shown little hesitation to do so again and if we hadn't bugged out of the situation would probably have turned up and made the cafe a bloodbath

You are blowing this so far out of proportion it isn't funny all because you think that someone is out to sabotage everything
>>
>>25070655

couldn't get any worse is not good by any measure.
>>
>>25070655
The scene may have been standard, but the subjects weren't. We ignored this, and barreled on anyway.
This failure to take another option was what sparked the First Iori War, and now we lost her for good.
>>
>>25070690
You're pretty hard to please aren't you?

Normal girl-talk?
This was in the middle of a group of idols, before Iori even began to sniffle. We did consider that a public rejection would not only negatively affect Iori's career but that it would be bad for our upcoming mission as well.

>>25070700
Just because a person doesn't intentionally mean to screw up, doesn't mean that they won't screw up out of incompetence.
The ignoring of obvious warning signs now will lead to ignoring warnings in the future.

>>
>>25070700
I assume this guy is more referring to the whole "Lol doesn't matter if we ignore warning signs, all's well that ends well" thing potentially happening again in worse circumstances.

Technically we already got Midori killed once with "lol charge ahead" answers.
>>
>>25070748
I have been letting them wail for half the fucking run of this

I am not going to keep sitting there any more
>>

The scene has a hopeful tone that she'll get better and stay friends with Chiaki.

Hopefully by the time the concert starts.

I swear you guys are THE most butthurt people I have seen this year

Goddamn
>>
>>25070711
>lost her for good
Yes, and? That was the point of this meeting.
The problem is the half-retarded way that some players went about it, which will lead to future problems when they continue with the same sort of reckless abandon.
>>
>>25070797
Well, you need bear with It.

The concert thing is ahead. Imagine the drama
>>
>>25070790
Thank you for getting it.
Getting Midori killed blocked off getting Mirai back, since Midori no longer had an intact Soul Gem and there was only enough material between Midori's and Mirai's for one complete Gem.
>>
>>25070831
RIP, potential producer of expendable mook allies and emergency food supplies.
>>
>>25070831
Big difference there. Midori-decision was just stupid. Nobody thought about what to do.

Iori-decision was thought over and then it was decided that we'd damn the consequences.

If you can't see this difference then you are lost to the W/a/ifu. Good day.
>>
>>25070878
>W/a/ifu
Oooooh.
So you're THAT kinda person.

Explains quite a few things
>>
>>25070878
Plenty of people thought what to do with Midori
Just too many more went "lolrandumb"
This was a case of "fuck this shit let's finally end this" I agree
>>
>>25069980
that was beautiful
>>
>>25070878
You refuse to acknowledge that there was no difference, and that you're only retroactively convincing yourself that there was more thought there than there actually was.

>>25070959
And how are the two different? Both ignore long-term consequences for short-term gains.
>>
>>25070987
Because the Midori decision was a case of direct retardation and all around being assholes

The Iori decision was because people like you bitched and moaned until a significant portion of the participants wanted to take the first option to get rid of her
>>
>>25070987
>Having Iori off our back magical backs
>short-term gain

The whole fucking thing with Ruri started because she thought that Iori and Chiaki were a couple. Since all signs point to her either having a golden weapon or just an insane magical girl telling Iori to stop clinging her NOW will help us in the long run.

Hell the Iori situation is the complete opposite of what you said: short term consequences for long-term gains.
>>
>>25070987
Because some people just want to MOVE THE FUCK ON and see the short term benefit of MOVING THE FUCK ON is well worth whatever the long term consequences are.
I am okay with Iori turning into a mg and witching out if it means ending this now. Totally worth it.
>>
>>25071066
100% agreed there
>>
>>25071034
>>25071066
>>25071085
Taking an option because you don't care about the long-term consequences just so you can get the short-term benefit is exactly what led to Midori getting killed.
Both choices were to deal with the current situation in the most expedient manner, regardless of effectiveness or how it might turn out.

>>25071046
And letting Iori down before tomorrow's meeting with Ruri is perfectly fine. But my argument is that it should have been done by getting Iori somewhere private, and not done in front of all her friends and some rivals, in a public area.
THAT shows a lack of concern for the long-term.
