Predator Quest: Episode 20

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to investigate breaches of forbidden knowledge by clan Weyland on the planet Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known in the human tongue.

______________________________________

The large spine-mounted weapon slowly emerges from the back of the Weyland battlecruiser.

You pull back on the throttle and launch into a defensive roll as the ship losses another burst of railgun slugs in your direction.

You suddenly detect a large energy spike emanating from the base of the large gun as it turns in your direction.

The magnitude of the buildup is immense. Even at this range, even if the shot misses you, the vented plasma wash will drown your ship.

You brace for the inevitable impact.

Then, as soon as the energy levels rose, it suddenly dropped before reaching the critical threshold to catalyze the plasma reaction. The gun dims, and becomes inactive.

Do you:

A. Suggest to Steel-Arrow to begin the boarding procedures.
B. Suggest to Steel-Arrow to launch a disruptor torpedo at the deactivated gun, just to be safe.

>>A. Suggest to Steel-Arrow to begin the boarding procedures.

"Let's get inside," you bark over the comms.

"Acknowledged! Readying boarding pod now. See you on board!"

You ask Burning-Scythe to ready the combat umbilical, and ready yourself to perform one last strafing run against remaining point defenses.

Do you:

A. Head to the bridge, and board there.
B. Attempt to breach the ship at its midsection.
C. Proceed to the rear, where the reactors and engines are.

Sounds like a plan to me.
>>
>>24986673
A.
The self-destruct and weapon controls will be located at the bridge. Once it's secure, we can go after the reactors.
>>
>>24986793
I don't think they'd actually be stupid enough to build a ship with a self destruct button...
>>
C) Compare yautja penis sizes in a dick to dick tribal honor battle with Steel-Arrow
>>
>>24986812
Well... it IS Weyland.

But honestly, "self destruct" usually means "overload reactor, cause boom" rather than something silly like a dedicated self-destruct explosive actually built in to the ship. So taking out the reactors should curtail any plans to self destruct the ship.
>>
>>24986673

C, disable engines, get the hell out and let the fleet take care of the rest. Where is our flagship anyway? Can we check where they are right before we go in?

>>24986812

Well it is WY...
>>
>>24986790
>C. Proceed to the rear, where the reactors and engines are.

You hug the ship and streak along it lengthwise, while strafing point defense turrets along the way with your gatling cannon.

You bring your nose sharply down as you reach the stern, and align yourself with the rear section.

Burning-Scythe's voice booms over the intercom. "Umbilical ready."

You steady the ship and order, "Fire!"

The ship shakes as the launch bay doors open, and the umbilical is propelled outwards. It latches solidly onto the hull and the plasma drill on the other end begins to work. You are now tethered to the rear of the battlecruiser.

Do you:

A. Board the ship with all three of you.
B. Leave Burning-Scythe in charge of the ship.
C. Ask Sharp-Strike to be in charge of the ship.
>>
>>24986845
Actually, it could also be scuttling charges as well.
>>
>>24986861
A.
And remember to lock up behind us.
>>
>>24986850
>Where is our flagship anyway?

Oh, you mean the GIANT CAPITAL SHIP leading the GIANT FLEET?

They're cowering under cloak well outside of the battlefield, because Admiral Betrayal is in charge. Apparently the giant military fleet wasn't here to, ya know, actually FIGHT anything.
>>
>>24986861

A, but check to see if our "fleet" did anything in response to our boarding.
>>
>>24986861
A
>>
>>24986861
>C. Ask Sharp-Strike to be in charge of the ship.

Sorry kid, but with the Fleet-Master seemingly determined to fuck us we need somebody on the ship to keep us updated on whats happening outside, and to keep the engines running in case we need to escape.
>>
>>24986887
You quickly check your mentor's homing beacon. The Night-Prowler capital ship is still lurking in the shadows, far from the wreckage of Weyland's fleet.

You try to raise your mentor on his private comms, but receive no answer.
>>
>>24986920
>but receive no answer
That tweest. Fuck.

A
>>
If all 3 of us were on the ship admiral faggot could blackmail us by threatening us with destruction.
>>
>>24986962

Possible they're on blackout or our mentor is busy with infiltration, let's not assume the worst just yet.
>>
>>24986872
You order your teammates to follow you to the umbilical. As you reach the rear of the ship, you see Burning-Scythe suited up and waiting for you by the airlock.

"Do it," you tell him.

He taps the controls and the airlock opens with a hiss. You place your palm on Sharp-Strike's back and shove him forward, face first. "Just like we practiced," you shout after him.

Burning-Scythe follows suit, and leaps into the umbilical. You set the airlock to auto-lock after your departure, and dive forward yourself.

A gust of pressurized air propels the three of you forward. You travel along the tube, unaided by gravity, and pile feet first around the drill on the other end.

The drill has already breached the outer hull. On the other side is some sort of storage bay.

Who do you ask to lead the breach?

A. Yourself
B. Burning-Scythe
C. Sharp-Strike
>>
>>24987033
Does Burning-Scythe have any experience with Boarding?

>>
>>24987077
>>B. Burning-Scythe

You tap Burning-Scythe on the shoulder.

He acknowledges, and deactivates the drill. The plasma conduits whine to a halt. The suction clamps slam shut, and the airlock bolts retract with a sharp crack.

He hits the release button, and the door is blown violently forward. It smashes inwards through the gaping hole made by the drill, and crashes against the ship's interior.

Burning-Scythe dives forward into the breach. You follow.

You hear the crackling of his plasma caster go off multiple times in front of you. You propel yourself off the ledge and join the fray.

You see several corpses litter the ground around you. Two are synthetic, and two are human. All are armed with combat shotguns. Four more synthetics approach from your left.

Do you:

A. Open fire at them with your plasma caster (DC: Easy)
B. Rush at them in melee combat (DC: Medium)
C. Throw your disc at them (DC: Medium)

Behind you, Burning-Scythe lifts his heavy plsama pistol from his holster and vaporizes two more synthetics on the other side.

"Three-Claw," you hear Steel-Arrow's voice over your comms. "Seeking-Eye and Quick-Shadow are onboard. I'm with my ship."

"Right," Seeking-Eye joins in. "We landed near the hangar. Resistance is minimal."

Too many preds in one place would probably just be overkill, or we'd end up getting in each others way. Attacking on both fronts means they can't focus their forces and swarm us.
>>
>>B. Ask them to fight towards the bridge.

"Take the bridge. We'll secure the reactor," you tell them.

You scan the corridors with your visor and plot out the optimal route to the reactor room.

Suddenly, nozzles extend from the ceiling above you and you find yourself sprated by a thin mist of water vapor. All around you, the ship's intercom begins to blare a warning. Your visor translates it for you.

"WARNING. WARNING. FIRE ON DECK SIX. FIRE ON DECK SIX. VAPOR EXTINGUISHERS ACTIVATED. WARNING."

Your cloaking systems flicker from the water mists.

Do you:

A. Take the short route and sprint across the corridor leading to the reactor chamber.

>>
>>B. Drop down to one of the maintenance tunnels and reach the reactor chamber through the ventilation shafts

You quickly confer with your team, and agree on the apporach. You rip open one of the maintenance covers and the three of you duck inside.

You crawl quickly through the winding shafts, guided only by your visors, until you find yourselves underneath the reactor chamber.

A gout of flame billows inwards from up ahead, fortunately dissipating before reaching your face.

You quickly crawl forward and peer into the reactor chamber.

Several crew members and synthetics are frantically attempting to put out various pockets of fire. The entire chamber must have been aflame at some point. It seems the crew has the fire under control now.

Do you:

A. Pop out and assault the chamber (DC: Medium)
B. Stay still and listen in on their comms.

A: Leap out and assault the reactor chamber (Pass)

On your signal, the three of you burst out from the shaft below. You charge the nearest synthetic with your wrist blades and shear his arms off before he could raise his gun. You hear a loud crack behind you, as Burning-Scythe looses a round from his plasma pistol. You turn to see a sythetic charge towards you from behind, wielding a fire extinguisher.

Sharp-Strike intercepts him, however, and neatly decapitates the synthetic with a well timed swing from his combi-stick.

Several engineers and crew members begin to evacuate the chamber as more armed synthetics close in. You take two down with your plasma-caster, but three more take their place.

You quickly glance around. There are two entrances to the chamber, one on each side. A number of Synthetics begin to assault from both directions. Getting flanked would prove disasterous.

Do you:

A. Cover one entrance with Sharp-Strike and have Burning-Scythe cover the other.

>>
>>24988385

Wait, if we're controlling the bridge, then why do we need to kill the reactor? Hell, the reactor is already dead and will probably stay that way, they tend not to fix themselves.
>>
>>24988349
B, Sharp-Strike can help either us or Burning-Scythe if one of us starts getting overwhelmed.
>>

>Gain control of bridge, but not reactor.
>Reactor crew goes "well, we're not regaining the ship, time to turn it into a bomb".

>>24988421
Taking down the lights would be good; we can fight well in the dark, humans not so much.
>>
>>24988448
Sharp-Strike doesn't have a mask though he won't be able to see in the dark
>>
>> B. Cover one entrance and have Burning-Scythe cover the other leaving Sharp-Strike in the middle.

You order Sharp-Strike to remain with the reactor and find some way to wrest control of it as you and Burning-Scythe get into position.

You take down several inbound synthetics with your plasma-caster and dispatch another with your disc.

Suddenly, you hear a sharp whine. You glance backwards and notice two guns drop down from the ceiling behind you, near the reactor.

One turns quickly towards you. But before it can open fire, Sharp-Strike leaps upwards and jams his combi-stick into its mounting. He hangs from it for a moment, and with a hard push, yanks the entire turret out of the ceiling.

The second turret begins to track Burning-Scythe. You bellow out a warning, but it may be too late.

Do you:

A. Snap a plasma-caster shot at the turret (DC: Medium)

>>B. Quickly throw your disc at the turret (Critical fail)

You quickly whip out your new disc, activate its power field, and throw it forward in one fluid motion. The mono-molecular blades whine as they spin up, and the disc sails forward.

Burning-Scythe quickly turns upon your warning, and attempt to dodge.

Your disc slices across its control cables and slice them in half, but not before it looses one last burst. Two slugs stich across his front and thump mutely into his armor. Another round slams into his left leg and another into his hip. He crumples to the ground, in pain.

Two synthetics rush through the door, guns raised.

Do you:

A. Order Sharp-Strike to hold that entrance
B. Order Sharp-Strike to hold your entrance and rush over to aid Burning-Scythe

Rushing to help defend him, not immediately ignore the threat to tend to his wounds.
>>

>>B. Order Sharp-Strike to hold your entrance and rush over to aid Burning-Scythe

You bellow to Sharp-Strike to hold your position as you rush over towards Burning-Scythe. You loose several plasma shots and kill the two synthetics running towards him.

You crouch beside him and immediately inject him with a disinfectant hypo.

"I've been hit worse," he coughs and mutters.

The rounds were heavy, however. His chest armor stopped two, but it doesn't look like he'll be able to use his left leg until you get him back to the medbay. Burning-Scythe raises his pistol and fires at a synthetic behind you as you work quickly to staunch the bleeding.

He waves his hand at you. "I'll be alright," he tells you, "Go help the kid."

You glance across the room. You see Sharp-Strike impaling a synthetic on his combi-stick and using his corpse a shield to protect him from a mass of shotgun fire. You peek outside the entrance nearby. It looks quiet.

Do you:

A. Remain and guard Burning-Scythe's entrance

>>A. Remain and guard Burning-Scythe's entrance

You adopt a combat stance and aim your plasma-caster's targeting beam at the entrance.

You hear a howl from the other end. You turn to see Sharp-Strike charge forward with his synthetic as a shield and bowl both the corpse and his combi-stick into a second synthetic. The remaining synthetic assualting his entrance is taken aback by the sudden charge. He raises his gun to aim, but Sharp-Strike quickly jams his wrist-blade into his throat. With a twist, he yanks the synthetic's head loose and tears it from the neck.

The room is quiet, for now.

You hear Seeking-Eye's voice over the comms.

"We're outside the bridge. Assaulting now."

A few moments of commotion later, his voice booms again. "Bridge... under control. No casualties."

"Reactor chamber under control. Burning-Scythe is wounded, but alive" you answer.

Sharp-Strike rips his combi-stick from the two corpses and joins you.

Do you:

>>B. Ask Sharp-Strike to tend to Burning-Scythe and look over the reactor yourself.

You ask Sharp-Strike to tend to Burning-Scythe as you perform a detailed scan of the reactor. The last bout of energy must have overloaded all of its conduits.

Burning-Scythe points to a panel on the side of the reactor housing, which was blown loose during the fighting. "What's that?"

You walk over and yank the plate out. You find a mess of conduits underneath, and something else. You part the tangle of wires and notice something inside.

"This is Yautja technology," you mutter.

Burning-Scythe drags himself closer and peers inside. "It's not an imitation either. This is a plasma amplifier from a Yautja ship. How did they get this?"

Do you:

A. Ignore it and try to bring the reactor online.
B. Attempt to part it from the reactor and take it out for a closer look.

I can't see how it would be. Even WY isn't that fast at reverse-engineering. Its only been like two weeks.

You reach into the mess of cables to try and expose the amplifier, but you're not sure where to begin.

"Careful," Burning-Scythe cautions you. "Better let me." He taps Sharp-Strike. "Here kid, take these tools." He unbuckles his utility belt and lays it down next to him. "Take the electrospanner... that's the one... and do exactly as I say."

You hear Seeking-Eye raise you on the comms.

"We have master control. Most of the armed guards are dead. Some crew are still scattered here and there, but we have control of the ship's security systems. They won't be able to do anything. Shall we hail Night-Star?"

"Alright, kid. Bring it here. Let's see... there should be a holo-registry printed under the stabalizer coils... There. What's that say?"

You lean over and examine the holo markings. "Duskbound Flight, " you mutter.

"Well, we found a piece of it stuck in this reactor," you tell him.

Ah. This makes more sense, a pirate fleet would require willing crew to go along with mass treason against their clan/society, isolating themselves for years, stocking and maintaining the fleet in absolute secret, and contriving scenarios where they disappear. Whereas this requires only the last part.

You turn to Sharp-Strike and inform him to head back to the ship with haste and await your instructions. He acknowledges and rushes out. You shout for him to wait, pick up the synthetic head he ripped off a moment earlier, and throw it to him. He catches it, thanks you, and continues his run.

The USMC is over 225 years of romping, stomping, hell, death and destruction. The finest fighting machine the world has ever seen. We were born in a bomb crater, our mother was an M-16 and our father was the devil.

Each moment that I live is an additional threat upon your life. I am a rough looking, roving warrior of the whole damn globe. I am cocky, self-centered, overbearing, and I do not know the meaning of fear, for I am fear itself. I am a green, amphibious monster made of blood and guts who arose from the sea, feasting on anti-Americans throughout the globe. Whenever it may arise, and when my time comes, I will die a glorious death on the battle field, giving my life to Mama, the Corps, and the American flag.

We stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we overran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers and talk like sailors and make both of them look like fucking pacifists because we are the mother fucking American samurai. We are the Spartans of the modern fucking future, and nobody can outfight, outdrink, outfuck, outman the fucking Marines, because we are PT GODS! Warrior by day, lover by night, drunkard by choice, Marine Corps by good Goddamn luck! SEMPER FI MOTHER FUCKERS!

SHEEEIT.

This is all about covering his tracks isn't it? Which means all of us are marked for death, our mentor too.
>>
>>24990203
Well, we don't mind him having the frigate, as long as we grab the Yautja plasma amplifier. The question is whether we can successfully bring that home via one of our ships, or whether Night-Star will fire on us and declare our ships lost.
>>
Easy answer is: we rig the ship to blow once he's on. Leftover humans could be blamed for the "tragic" loss of life.

We need to tell jackal to act *now* (if he's not been discovered), it seems like captain faggot is disobeying orders from the matriarch.
>>
We need to send Steel Arrow and his team back to base and our Matriarch to report of this.
>>
>>24990261
Assuming Jackal hasn't been compromised, he should still be on the bridge listening to this conversation.

However, I am not optimistic.
>>
>>24990238
Simple. We destroy the generator where we took the amplifier from. This ship should have more than one, so it'd still work, and with it destroyed it'll take them a while to figure out the piece is missing, long enough for us to be gone.
The really big question is what he intends to us once we return to our ships, and what he plans to do with our mentor on his bridge.

>Night-Star receives map of patrols from us
>Information regarding plans passed to humans (Mentor said that Night-Prowlers never had presence here, despite "knowing" make up and arrival time of enemy fleet
>Suspiciously powerful W-Y fleet with an experimental weapon rushed into battle before even being tested

We were not supposed to win this fight, and W-Y was not supposed to bring the battlecruiser to this engagement.
