“Well, you could say we have a lot in common.” You answer carefully, uncertain if you want to reveal such a trump card to John when you may betray him.

“Going to need something a little more solid than that. You see, I’m beginning to think I might have been sold out. So far, Nicolas has yet to truly deliver on any of his promises. Makes people a mite bit nervous, you know?” John says as he begins walking in a semicircle to make sure he keeps his Servant between you and himself.

“We’re truly beginning to doubt your dedication to our...cause. We think its likely that Nicolas sold us and Assassin’s Master out to your Masters. It would be so simple for him to eliminate two enemies that way. And with Caster, he’s always aiming for the late game. Doing the least amount of work himself. So you’d best start spilling soon, if you don’t want this to break out into a fight.” Monster growled, crouching low to the ground. Everything in your body feels tightly wound, and you feel almost uncomfortably hot as you watch Monster carefully.

I would err on the side of caution here. Tell them about Candeloro. If Rook hasn't learned the lesson about never completely trusting his servant now is the time to teach him. We dispense with the magus wisdom. Also, ask him if he's a magus himself. He sure as fuck ain't acting much like one.

They don't need to know about the probability of Nicolas's lich antics.

>[ ] Tell them about Candeloro capturing Archer and you just happened to steal her.
The basic gist of the explaination we should give:
Caster was able to empower one of his summoned allies such that she was able to overpower and temporarily seal away Archer rather than destroying her outright. Since there is nothing other than lack of prana to maintain them keeping a master from contracting multiple servants, it was deemed more effective, both in terms of manpower and likely in terms of combat resources, to take control of Archer than to keep her restrained until she naturally ran out of energy to keep her manifested. Since our servant is Caster a potential prana deficiency is unlikely to come into play due to his magical aptitude.

Should also mention that Caster's empowerment led to the change of his summoned Servant's Class to Monster from Archer, which is what we were alluding to with the "a lot in common" remark.

This tells them most of it without letting on that we are capable of taking bodily control of a servant.

I think we should probably claim that Caster's empowerment was only temporary, but the class change was permanent.

We don't know whether this is actually the case, but telling him that we can just upgrade a summoned ally permanently such that they are capable of 1v1ing a servant seems like a bad plan.

We don't want them to see us as the primary threat, even if it is technically true that we have almost 3 full Servants worth of combat ability on our side.

Yeah, how about a big no on that front. We in the nasuverse, PARANOIA is the operative word if you want to survive there very long.

Also, you guys trusted Caster... Again. This whole lich thing is going to come back to bite us big somehow. You'd think you all would have learned from the Candeloro episode. Also, biggest threat isn't the church like I previously stated, it's the Counter Force.

Ergo, we should be sure to inform Candeloro about what happens when you piss off Alaya by attempting omnicide (i.e. give in to her urges and truly witch out). She doesn't want to be alone again, but she will be if she doesn't keep her shit together and stay on the reservation. Counter Guardians hit harder than executors.

>>24889006
He's not too worried yet. We fit into his plans and worse comes to worse he's got what amounts a Superpowered Assassin class. Number of servants means shit if the Master gets iced, and hell, his servant can pull that shit easy.

"I was captured by Nicolas Ignatiavich in a conflict with his Archer class Servant. In the midst of the fight she changed classes, to Monster, and temporarily sealed me. From there, with Caster's assistance, he contracted me. The remark about similarities was regarding the fact that our team now has a Monster as well, thanks to Caster not exactly being forthcoming on exactly how his ability works. My suggestion is not to trust your servant entirely." You tell him, deciding to try planting a seed of doubt into his mind.

"Well, I'll take my chances with her for now. Still, rather impressive that you were defeated, let alone captured, considering all the trouble you gave us prior," John remarked.

"Yes, well the surprise of a Servant changing classes caught me a little off guard. If I had known, I wouldn't have hesitated at a critical moment. So, anything new?" You reiterate.

"Well, there's been some people calling in sick an awful lot in a few of my classes, and the Silver Cloud Inn was recently shut down due to a nasty insect infestation. They're thinking they might have to evacuate nearby buildings as well." John informs you.

"I see. Well, my Master and I shall keep you informed." You tell him. He nods, and Monster grabs him and they both disappear from sight. You wait several tense moments before letting yourself relax. You swear your bones practically creak as you do so.

I'm almost sure there is some extreme drawback or another. At the very least we should learn how to prepare our own bodies and learn where the container for our soul is.
Worst case scenario I can think of is that we need grief seeds to maintain this and therefore are dependent on caster and have to constantly cycle out our puellas to kill the previous ones and then make them witch out. Also I face palmed when anons jumped on a permanent soul altering Kyubey-procedure without demanding all details and potential drawbacks from him quite possibly with a command seal backing it. As it is we should show the witch kiss mark if there as evidence of magical fuckery applied to this body. Probably present it as some sort of mind control or some such.

We should probably test out the abilities of body first though. We may have lost pretty much all of Archer's actual power due to it being a reality marble. Also if nothing else our origin is mind not sword due to that being part of the soul.

You've already gone to the archives, but since I've already typed this out...

In short: It's the Holy Grail War, a fight between 7 magi. Each magi summons a Servant to fight for them, winner gets the Holy Grail, and it will grant the winner one wish.

We summoned Caster, the class best known for hacking the grail and causing things to go horribly wrong. Caster is Kyubey, so we're going full Urobutcher/Suffering route here.

Other classes we know are:
Assassin: Loli Jack the Ripper
Archer: Archerko, a genderflipped version of Fate/Stay Night's Archer
Monster: an irregular class that shouldn't be Summonable. "official" Monster servant summoned in this war is a spider girl we have yet to learn the name of.
Saber: Musashi

The remaining classes have not met yet, and one has (probably) been replaced by Monster this war:
Lancer: ???
Berserker: ???
Rider: ???
>>
>>24889419
Or *shudder* there's more than 7 masters involved. Grail already summoned a Monster class and an Alien straight out of Animeland, and this isn't Fuyuki. Assume nothing!

You decide to head out to the hotel and see if you can find out what's going on over there. It takes a you a while on foot, even with Archer's supernatural fitness, but you stop several blocks away. The whole area looks a little foreboding and dark, a small building on the edge of the bay. There are warning signs and tape on most of the entrances and windows. Parked out front are a few extermination vans, but they seemed to be abandoned with doors left open.

Does that mean we still have a chance at Ruler?

>>24889615
Can't Archer see shit from miles away? GET THE FUCK BACK and look around.
>>
>>24889542
In a grail war, EVERYONE is *always* a potential stab in the back because getting a wish granted is one HELL of a motivator. Hell, a lot of people would waste their own mothers if it meant grasping their deepest desire with their own hands. We do need to learn Murder McBitchtits and Her own wishes though. Would tell us a lot about the kind of people they are. That always helps.

Seriously, ask a person what they're one wish would be. If they're telling the truth you've learned something very important about them.

You hesitate for a bit, silently cursing your weakness with reinforcing your own flesh such as your eyes. But, it's probably best if your retreat for now and send in someone else. You carefully leave and retreat back to your base, calling Tomoko up.

"Tomoko. Feeling up to another lesson tonight?" You ask her.

"Uh, sure. Give me a bit, Nee-chan and I will meet you at your base?" She asks.

"Sure. I'll see you in a bit." You reply, hanging up.

Half an hour later Tomoko and Assassin come into your partially abandoned warehouse. "So, what do I get to learn today?" Tomoko asked eagerly.

"Tonight, we're going to play it safe. Do some meditation exercises and see if we can get you into the right mindset for magic before we start experimenting anymore. And, if Assassin wouldn't mind scouting out the Silver Cloud Inn?" You ask.

"So long as you promise not to really practice magic tonight, I can do that." Assassin says, disappearing from view. Tomoko let's out a suffering sigh.

"I have got to work on her manners." She mumbles. You spend several hours working with Tomoko trying to get her to center herself. While she seems to be able to get it down when she wants to, she keeps pestering you to teach her real magic instead, interrupting most progress you do make. When Assassin reappears suddenly you just give up for the night.

"So, how was it?" You asked.

"Weird. There were bugs everywhere, crawling across the floor and everything. Several times I got caught in spider webs and the bugs would converge in my area. Whoever is in there is incredibly well hidden, and incredibly good awareness of their surroundings. At one point, I thought I glimpsed someone in dark green, but the bugs got in my way. I wasn't certain I could get through them without getting detected. Tried waiting them out, but there were no changes in several hours." Assassin answered. Forgot to say, he "ate" a person in merely a few hours. Normally an impossible feat, for an average human body is 180 pounds of biomass. No stomach can digest that fast unless its backed up somehow. His origin was doing that without an awakening because it still affects you even if you are unawakened. Once awakened however, it goes to its logical extreme on its influence on you. You get OCD over it, and it works for you because you ARE your origin.

If awakened to "mind" we do all things a "mind" could ever hope to do as a matter of course, and we can't not. After merely figuring it out, we'd just be one clever, paranoid fucker. With it awakened, we get A.I. level superpowers at the cost of our emotions and general "humanity". Though not all of it, as a mind can be human. It CAN feel, just isn't always inclined to act on those feelings.

It's a good origin, insofar as we don't have to go full on evil mode because of it like Lio had to and still have a good amount of freedom over our actions as "mind" is very unrestrictive as it also involves "choices" over our course of action. Good job OP, you haven't really restricted us even with nasuverse rules that really could if ya knew how to play it.

Nubum, you are awesome. So many high rolls for this choice... She might just get a true handle on her shit tonight. Fuck yeah FemShirou Spaghetti-tan! Good thing I already saw Nic as Rin. Given the rolls he's doing an even better job that she did. Which is good, because Shirou was more broken because of his future Reality Marble. I doubt She could beat Gil, give him a run for his money, but would still lose because Gil's Ea would likely get a chance to go off if he fought her. Shirou knew what to do, her? I ain't so sure...

"Alright. Now that Assassin's back, I can maybe teach you a little something with your own magic under her supervision." You say, giving Assassin a questioning look. She gives you a small nod. "Right. Now, just like before but this time use your meditation practice to center yourself. Feel out to Assassin next to you. See if you can grab hold of her." You tell her. Tomoko nods and lets out a deep breath. Her breathing slows as she slips into a decent meditative state. As she does so, you can see Assassin's shadow actually twisting and warping slightly.

"I...I think I've got something!" She says excitedly.

"Excellent. Try and reach for something small first. See if you can push just a tiny bit of your mana into it." You advise her. She nods slightly, and Assassin tenses up slightly. There's a sudden leaking of fog from the gaps in Tomoko's clothing.

"I'm doing something!" She exclaims excitedly, waving her arms and spreading the fog further. You accidentally inhale a little, and it makes you cough, violently, as it rasps on your throat and lungs. "Oops. Sorry." She mumbles. The fog stops dissipating and she seems to disappear for a moment and she's suddenly right next to you. "You okay?" She asks.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." You say slightly hoarse.

"This is so cool!" Tomoko practically squeals. Even Assassin is smiling slightly. For about an hour, Tomoko spends some time mimicking several abilities. Eventually, though, the sun is dawning. She and Assassin are preparing to leave when she takes one long look at Archer's body sleeping on your bed.

We must investigate the sick students. Information is king, we will decide our next course of action based on what they say. Above all else, info decides the grail war. We must get as much as possible balanced with time before we pull shit.

Also, we still have to teach Candeloro and Tomoko of the Counter Force. All true magi know of it. We know of it. Our allies must be made to know of it. If we trigger it, all is lost.

You walk with Tomoko back to the school, deciding that you'll begin investigating those sick students. Tomoko immediately heads for her dorm room upon arriving while you go to check out some of the classrooms. You spend most of the day moving from building to building and trying to isolate down which classes have the most missing students. Most of them seem to be isolated to an advanced level English course, some advanced Physics, a single Programming class and a Psychology course. You're standing outside of the Psychology room when it ends, and the flow of students impedes your progress for a bit. At one point, you notice an attractive young woman who seems to look at you knowingly for a moment before seemingly giving up and continuing with a few of her friends. You vaguely remember hearing something about her. Some rich girl, supposedly pretty snooty but really smart.

You carefully memorize her face and leave the school for the day. Best not to risk tipping your hand too early, and you need to practice your magic a bit with the Archer body. As well, you would like to have Caster explain how to prepare the bodies for your, ah, takeover.

------

~Preparing bodies?~ Caster muses as you sit up as Archer.

"Yeah. For when the war is over, or if I'm ever in a pinch." You reply.

~Well, I don't think I could teach you the trick to stealing Servants. It was difficult enough to get the spiritual shell to stick around long enough to anchor it to your own soul without losing any of its unique attributes. But for normal human bodies, you could easily learn it.~ Caster answers.

"Excellent. So, what would I need to do?"

~Well, the first thing to remember is you must take the intended receptacle alive. It doesn't have to be human, but the closer it is to human the easier it is for you to acclimate to it. As well, the more willing the subject is, the better, as is any level of preference towards you. People who trust you or similar will be far easier to use than those who don't know you, or worse hate you. The next step can be done in a myriad of ways, but you must remove the existing soul from the receptacle. This can be done by turning a normal wraith binding circle inside out, if you wish, though it will be rather mana intensive. Afterwards, you need to set up a familiar making circle and lay a wraith binding circle over its top with you as the wraith you wish to summon. This will reconnect you to said body. The difficult part is making sure to keep the body alive during the interim without a soul, or to make the swap near instaneous. With some refinement, you could probably turn it into a singular spell, but I have had little need to do so, and little chance to experiment with it.~ Caster explains.
[1/2]
>>
You think you get it, and it seems as straightforward as it could possibly be. It sounds clunky, at best, but workable. You'll have to refine it with some practice, but the problem will be in finding people to practice on if you want to do such a thing. You set those thoughts aside, and instead practice with Archer's body somewhat. You have passable muscle memory of her skills when you attempt to emulate them, though you feel they are merely in the human level instead of being Servant class. As well, when you attempt to activate her Noble Phantasm it's like trying to grab fire. Every attempt to use it causes you pain, and you can eventually get a non magical sword projected. You find it easier if you try mumbling those lines Assassin had mentioned. Obviously, there's a key there. Still, this body is exhausted and its night fall.

You decide to head out and find that rich girl. Something about her seems suspicious. You make your way back to the college campus and knock on Tomoko's door. Assassin answers the door in a frilly maid outift, reminding you of some character or another from a video game. Behind her Tomoko perks up. "Nick!" She exclaims, joining Assassin in the doorway. She gives you a quick once over. "Aw, the way Assassin described you I thought you would be, ah, bigger. Not that you aren't good sized, but she led me to believe...Anyways, how can I help you?" She asked.

"You have a student registry still?" You ask her.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Come in." She says, stepping back into her room and rummaging through scattered books and games. She eventually finds it.

"Thank you." You flip through it quickly, finally finding the page you wanted. Marianne Hyde. She lives on the bay, apparently. You quickly take note of her address and give Tomoko back her book. "Stay safe." You tell her. Assassin gives you a grim nod from behind her back.

"Nice try, Archer. Now, we can either do this the easy way or the hard way. You can either help me out in a little mission, or I can just steal you or your Master, kay?" Interesting. We're not even worth mentioning. Good.

Right, we're relaying all of this to Caster and tell him to send a message to Rook and Tomoko saying that Marianne Hyde, a Master, is going to lead Rook into a trap tonight, and that "Archer" is going to help us trap Marianne Hyde in turn. Tell them we'll also need Assassin to kill Marianne.

"Well then, we can certainly help you out. What do we need to do, exactly?" You reply, hoping Caster is keeping in mental contact with you right now.

"Oh, nothing much yet. But tomorrow night, meet me on the college campus, by the main fountain. For being so agreeable, I can even promise you anything you want. I know you don't like killing people if you don't have to, so we can spare the Masters. I'd prefer John to die to be certain we have defeated Monster. Heck, I can even let you keep them. Help you bind them to you or something of the sort. Or, I can help you take out one of your enemies, or even back stab your ally, Saber, for you?" She suggests.

I just remembered puella assassin is dead we should probably get a new one sometime. As is deploy Candeloro to bring the master into her magical wonderland of fun times and witch kisses. >>
>>24895551
really tempting to reply "If you promise anything... would you mind dieing for me?" but for right now, we should find out why she needs Rook/Monster dead so much, getting more information on her motives and the unseen actions of our allies.
>>
>>24895551
Okay new post. Still inquire as to why she wants Monster dead so much. The binding is probably not blowing our cover and is just some ability she or our master has. The main thing of interest is that this is not Saber's master.
>>
>>24895551
"For a start, any information you have on Caster would be supremely helpful. I've not managed to turn up much of anything on them yet."

"And why so particular about Monster? You seem to be worried about it in particular."
>>
>>24895551
Alright. This is much better.
Copying most of my last post, but the moment we're done we relay everything to Caster, and then send a message to Rook and Tomoko saying that Marianne Hyde, the Master of Lancer, Rider, or Berserker, is going to lead Rook into a trap tomorrow night, and that "Archer" is going to help us trap Marianne Hyde in turn. Tell them we'll also need Assassin to kill Marianne.

We tell Caster we're going to need both Saber and Candeloro for this one, as we have no idea what to expect. Emphasize that "enhancing" Saber is not allowed.
>>
>>24895644
Unless she IS Saber's master and is trying to get us to agree to betraying Saber to confirm that something strange happened to Archer.

She did claim to be familiar with binding people, what with the threats of "stealing you or your master", and offers to bind enemy masters to avoid having them killed unnecessarily. Would make the odd look she gave us before make slightly more sense as well if she could see some sort of anomaly caused by our changing between bodies. If said anomaly is reflected in us now as well, it'd be kind of a giveaway. (An alliance with Archer beforehand might explain why she wouldn't just murder us if she sensed the same anomaly again, in case she was wrong.)

And mentioned that her servant is capable of "turning your own abilities against you in particular."

Considering how part of Archer's deal is projecting swords, a Saber having skills that could counteract that ability in particular would make sense.

Getting more information on why she wants Monster gone so bad is a good plan, as is trying to see if she has anything on Caster. Maybe leave the betrayal offers alone for now, though.

This may very well be too paranoid, but hey, it pays to be careful.

there is another servant that could fuck Archer's day, and i really hope we aren't meeting him.
>>
"Why all the Monster hate?" You ask her. She simply shrugs.

"Most of it is fear. Another part is something about her rubs me the wrong way. I mean, she's a Berserker class Servant that retains her sanity and has the flexibility and adaptability of an Assassin. She is, probably, the single most dangerous Servant to face in a fight." Marianne replied with a slight shrug, "I've also got my suspicions that she may have a touch of magical abilities. Our best bet might, actually, be to ally with Caster. I've heard that Caster's been summoning some shades to fight with, and some disposable troops would be nice."

"Speaking of Caster, what do you know about him?" You ask. Marianne shrugs slightly.

"Not much confirmed beyond what I just mentioned. I have, however, heard that he isn't human, which is incredibly unusual for the Grail." She replies, "But, that's enough for tonight. We can share more info tomorrow after we wrap up."

"Indeed. Tomorrow, then." You answer. With that, she closes the door, leaving you standing in the cold. With a shrug, you turn and leave, though you feel like someone is watching you until you're several blocks away.

Well well well. Aren't we popular.

She doesn't seem to be aware that Team Caster is allied with Rook or Tomoko. Poor girl is in for a rude awakening when she springs her little trap and finds herself surrounded by enemies. But such is life in the Grail War.

Shame we didn't get a look at her Servant, although I would put money on a Berserker simply because he traditionally counters Archer.
>>
>>24895983
We know that servants can detect another servant's presence, but do we know how this works on A) Places with multiple servants, B) Servants in Spirit form, or C) Ourselves in Archerko's body?

We should ask either Caster or Assassin to confirm whether the presence of multiple servants is easily distinguishable from the presence of one servant, whether this changes when a servant is in spirit form, and whether we read as being a servant while in Archerko's body.

We know for a fact that Archerko doesn't have presence concealment, so it should be trivial for a master to determine whether we are a legitimate servant if they were to know that, unless other servants still interpret us as being a servant on account of the composition of a servant body being different than a human one. Presumably this is the case, or Monster would've noticed something odd when we visited Rook in Archerko's body.

Similarly, we should determine whether a servant is easily detected in spirit form, and how easy it is to distinguish between one servant and two servants, one of whom is in spirit form.

If it is hard to tell the two signatures apart, we should probably attend the "ambush" in Archerko's body along with Saber in her typical combat dress under the guise of having secured Caster's master's cooperation in this matter, and Candeloro following us in spirit form. This way we can get her close enough to either Marianne or her Servant for her to surprise attack them, hopefully sealing them off or otherwise disabling them before they can properly react.

If there's an obvious difference between one servant and two, one of whom is in spirit form, but it's impossible to see data on a spirit formed servant, we can still execute said ambush by claiming that the spirit formed servant is Caster, come to collect information on the conflict as part of the terms of obtaining his master's cooperation.

Any of this that sounds unreasonable/unverifiable in the timeframe we have to work in?

So is there a particular reason we haven't been flirting with Tomoko while in Archerko's body?

Between Assassin in a maid outfit and her curiosity about our, erm, "assets" she's clearly in to that, and if Assassin bitches we can just handwave it off with some mumbo jumbo about bio-emotional feedback or some other equally made-up term vaguely related to our body-hopping powers.
