Welcome, friends, to the recently renamed micro-nationbuilder. Micro-civilisation, as a title, is more apt, I feel. So, where shall I begin? You, my esteemed council members, are charged with guiding our fledgling nation. We are few in number right now, with but a single village at our disposal. Each meeting, we are currently able to perform a single action - this will be decided by general consensus, though when we develop as a nation we shall be able to accomplish much more.We are primitive - stone age almost - we have no written language, or metalworking quite yet. Now, councillors, I have a few questions for you...What is our fair race, and in what clime does our journey begin? The maps used are generated and manipulated by my own, custom program. Please use spoiler tags for OOC dicussions/questions
>>24864344We are centaur and live in something akin to the prairies.
>>24864344We are humans in the desert!
>>24864344We are insectoids, living in the forests!
>>24864344We are lobstermen, living in the sea
>>24864483>>24864419Why of course, insectoids.Within the heart of the forest a fine village has been constructed, small, but we have plenty of room to grow. Our meagre population is supported by the hunting of meat in the thick vegetation. What deed should I focus our efforts on, dear Council?
>>24864533Scouting. Figure out what is around us. Threats, resources, etc.
>>24864548I second this. Send out some warriors to the East to explore further into the forest. Mark threats, potential useful resources, ect.
>>24864344 can i have your program? im an rts junky and it looks great!
>>24864548>>24864573I gathered a few dozen citizens and send small groups in all directions. Our forest is vast, and we still do not know its edges, although a number of potentially useful peaks have been discovered, along with a small river in the South.
>>24864625http://www.mediafire.com/?w0ld1li2bab46ji You'll need the XNA redistributable to run it.
>>24864810First of all, what is the status of the Queen/Broodmother/etc and her egg laying?
>>24864810We can fish from the river to get lots of food. Are we competent in fishing?
>>24864825 youre my fucking hero man, enjoy the free bump and thank you!
>>24864810For now, we shoudl concentrate on increasing our population and food production. Organize hunting parties and and send one or two beyond the peaks.
Are you the original OP? What ended up happening with the kobold civ?
>>24864853She lays when food is plentiful, but alas this is not currently the case, and growth is little to none.>>24864873We have no specific knowledge of fishing... or even fish - though our people are adept predators, and I would forsee no problems harvesting the waters should fish lay within.>>24864908Winterbury is still around. The last few threads were pretty dead, though, aside from my few beloved regulars. I'm trying to get more people used to the playstyle etc, attract more players.
Any chance of releasing the program? I could use something to create maps/lands and such. Also, I think we should make temples and shrines for our gods to guide us.
>>24864937I think that we should get some people hunting in the forests, and some exploiting the river we've found.
Search the trees for fruits! Harvest them, and save the seeds for planting.
>>24864810DIG. Find minerals and Jewels. Our warriors need weapons and armor if we want to truly conquer this savage forest!
Are you planning to ever release your program? Is it avaliable on mac?Is there a random generator? Can you remove the hex tiles?
>>24864810Stay still, do not move. I sense something is coming.
Sisters (we are insects after all), we are getting ahead of ourselves. What shall we name our hive?
>>24865059I don't see one. Link me to it or answer the questions please.
[Fuck yeah! I was late last time! LATE! but not THIS TIME!]I agree with my esteemed collegues analisys. We must concentrate on logistics and on food production. Perhaps we should search the limits of the forest and find farmable land?
>>24865040Primary Hive Cluster.I accept nothing else.
>>24865106Read the thread in it's entirity. OP already posted the link.
>>24865106That's because you're not READING, you're looking for a link and not noticing one. Read retard.
>>24865114Utilitarian.I like it
>>24865040I'd say we should call our hive "Xtri" that obviously means "Home of Thousands" as good omens
>>24864978>>24864890Hunt we shall! Compromising, the hunting parties are sent Southwards, in the hope that their camps might bring us closer to harvesting the river's wealth - and so it does, our borders now span across the very spring from whence the river is hatched.
>>24865010>>24864825Please use spoilers when not discussing the game, I have enough work to do as is collating all the decisions and trying to stop the program crashing, nevermind filtering out OOC chatter as well. I have linked you to the post containing the download; the program will never be Mac compatible, random maps are generated, and I am unsure what you mean by remove, but you can fully modify the terrain.
>>24865241You should make it mac compatible.
>>24865206>>24865146>>24865114The messaging pheremone drones have been released into our nation, spreading news of the Councils naming. This didn't count as a round, in case you're worried.
>>24865200Keep hunting until we can get a surplus of food. After that, we should establish a settlement along the river. From there, we can explore down the river.
>>24865241How am I supposed to download it and play it if it is not compatible with mac, ugh.
>>24865261>>24865314You aren't entitled to anything. Fuck off.
>>24865314as a macfag myself, you give us a bad name.
>>24865293If we are to start a new settlement, are we to birth a new queen? Such an event is a large investment for the hive... It would certainly stifle short term growth - or worse.
>>24865200Hunters are to hunt.Have a group of worker drones to start chopping trees down and terraform the terrain to suit the Hive.If avaiable, have another group of drones devise how to exploit the river's resources. Also, ignore the obvious trolls.
>>24865269Continue hunting with the majority of our workers, explore further with a few to ensure we can see incoming dangers
>>24865293>>24865531The hunting shall, of course, continue. Given the interest in exploration down the river, I shall rally a group to scout the area. Will update shortly.
>>24865438We won't start a new hive until we can do so without endangering our situation.
Start forcing some babies inte soldiers later? Maybe have people punch them so their carapace harden or something equally enlightened
>>24865343Making something only for PC users is exclusion. It's like excluding somebody from a job for being black or coloured.
>>24865558>>24865531>>24865463>>24865293We are now building a steady surplus of meat, as our hunters develop their techniques. Snares and the like are now commonplace, and they reap many of the meaty, furry fruits that scamper around so deliciously.Unfortunately, I also bring you news most foul... our sisters returned from their trip South, having encountered a group of TROLLS! The sisters ignored these foul beasts, sneaking around them most adeptly, and ensuring to locate their fetid pit, which is found slightly to the East on a rocky crag.
>>24865645As a PC user I would tend to agree with this. It's a little ridiculous that people are making things solely for PC, when once they have the unobfuscated code it's very easy to run through and make compatible for mac.
>>24865685Aha!As I told you, start punching the newborn
>>24865645Just to be clear, you expect him to work (without being paid) for your benefit?Go away, you paracidic asshat.
>>24865685I doubt we will fix much in common with those brutes. Can we adapt our hunting tools for battle if it comes to it?
>>24865685lets research military technology
>>24865343No need to be rude, kiddo.
>>24865760"I am giving free candy to everybody, except for blacks"
>>24865864Shitty analogy is shitty.
>>24865821We can certainly try - the hunters currently use disposable wooden spears, alongside their sharp reflexes, to disable the prey. The snares, however, will probably be a little ineffective against foe of such size.>>24865864>>24865729Whatever dude, I'm physical unable to port it, so go back to /g/ or whereever and troll there please.
>>24865685Definitely make footings for defense, but we're not yet powerful enough to be the aggressors, I think.
>>24866017Where is our hive located? May I suggest we fortify by moving into the trees or underground?
>>24866017>Been wanting to play MicroCiv for some time>Finally get a playable version>These douches fag it up>Now I feel terrible. Also, CA, I'm having problems with the program. I can't select between tutorial or new game, and I can't resize the window. Nor does the cursor appear on the title page.Do the trolls look like they use technology of some sort, or are they reliant on their natural strength and durability?
If the trolls haven't discovered us yet, I don't think we need to worry too much about them. We should avoid contact and continue hunting, perhaps develop weapons and fishing too.
>>24866126Damn, fucked up my tags. That last line is meant to be IC.
>>24866126i doubt the trolls are very strong. They probably spend all day in mom's basement. Oh wait, you were talking about in game...
>>24866017Ugh.Didn't know programmers could be such dicks. Well, doesn't matter - I'll just play a different game.
>>24866203No anon you are the dick
>>24866181Yeah, I hate it when I fuck up my formatting.
>>24866126It's not playable as such, it's just a map utility right now, sorry. Use the scrollwheel, then tap enter. The trolls? Technology? Pah! Filthy mongrels, or so I'm told. Nary even a club to beat each other with, they are constricted to their primitive, bulbous hands. Can the council member sum up their position on these savages? Do we avoid them and quietly build our strength, or focus our efforts on ridding the lands of these fools? Another course, perhaps? Speak, fine sisters.
>>24866218No, you're the dick. And stop spoilering it's annoying as fuck.
>>24866274>No, you're the dick. And stop spoilering it's annoying as fuck.>What is following the DM wish you retard?
>>24866253Avoid them for now and get ourselves better organized and equipped. We can deal with them later.
>>24866253They'd smash our carapaces with their mighty fists the moment we tried to attack them. For now, we avoid them, but once we're capable of fighting and slaying these beasts, do so.I see, thanks CA. Sorry there's dickheads in the thread today, and I'll continue waiting patiently until it's playable. Looks like it'll be fun once it's ready.
>>24866274Hey shitstain, if you actually read the thread you'd get why we're doing it.Yes. I mad. Go troll elsewhere.Sorry, Grand Council Advisor... I never learned how to spoiler.
>>24866203op: hey guys. Here's a neat new game I'm going to run for you. You can run it yourself too as long as you have a skateboard.Everyone:this game is awesome and fun. Op, you're the best.Idiot: but I don't like skateboards and chose to buy rollerskates instead. This is discrimination. OP is basically a racist.

>>24866334>>24866325>>24866300>>24866313Just leave the troll to spout nonsense, no point further corrupting the thread by responding. Appreciate the fact you're reacting in defense, but I'd rather see the occasional shitpost by one douche (who'll get bored after receiving no attention anyway), than 1 shitpost and 5 sensible responses that the troll will pay no attention to anyway.
>>24866374I refuse to believe you can be that retarded and still able to use a computer
>>24866382>>24866357>>24866303So our immediate concerns don't lie with the trolls. What shall we focus upon then?
>>24866402Yeeaaaaah, good one. can't take criticism mr programmer fag.You are the cancer that is killing /tg/
>>24866402Yeah, sorry. I'm doneSo we doing our best to avoid them for now? We should probably keep scouts on the lookout to keep tabs, just in case, then.
>>24866422What are our technological capabilities? Do we know what metal is? Do we know how to make weapons?
>>24866422For now, focus on feeding the Broodmothers and keeping tabs on these southern monsters. Perhaps bequest to the Broodmothers that the next clutch of eggs contain pure-bred warriors of might and strength, or ranged combatants that spray noxious chemicals or acid.
>>24866422Lets just improve our weaponry to deal with any threats in the future/if the trolls become a threat, while continuing to build food supplies, unless spoilage is an issue? If food spoils just maintain our current supply levels while improving weapons and possibly searching out other resources
>>24866325by putting [ spoiler] [ /spoiler] tags around whatever you want hidden, without the spaces.>>24866253We avoid them and build our strength, the time for conflict is not now.
>>24866463>>24866475I'd suggest we either to the full on bio-evolution route or the technology route. Probably not both half-asses.
>>24866463We craft wooden spears when they are required, our mandibles whittle the tip most effectively.I for one (one exceptionally well educated sister, that is) have never heard of this 'metal'.
>>24866530True. I motion for bio-evolution.
>>24866530I don't think we can control our own evolution.
>>24866555Alright, keep hunting to expand our food supply. And make sure to keep tabs on the trolls, to make sure they don't make any hostile moves toward our lands.
There is noticable support for evolution of our biology. Are we to attempt this radical step immediately, councillors?>>24866609Just a note, once a resource has appeared on the map, and you've performed an action to access it, no further effort is required - it'll continue to contribute to our stockpiles
>>24866692I say yes. No other species is capable of doing so, and it will give us a great advantage against those who would oppose us.
We can control our cultural evolution.Worship the spirits of the spring! Praise to them for the life-giving waters! Create graven images of their beauteous forms, the splendour of their dragonfly wings, the sheen of their aquaescent carapaces!
>>24866692Two antennae up in support.
>>24866692I think that sounds like an excellent idea
>>24866692Lets do it.
>>24866692Didn't know that, cool. >>24866692The entomologist in me says no, even though I'm outvoted.
>>24866732>>24866723>>24866719>>24866712So it is decided. Will update shortly.
>>24866692yeah lets do this
We have birthed a new caste. These individuals are stronger than most, and their carapaces withstand much greater punishment than is typical for our species. They are few in number, and further attempts have proven unsuccessful in replicating their creation, instead producing feral sub-cects, driven with some cruel madness and numerous physical afflictions. There are enough warriors here to produce a single unit of soldiers for our nation, though I'm sure they would make excellent scouts, or even hunters, should the councillors decide so.These antics have stunted growth and consumed as much food as we caught this round, but upon resuming normal activities the stockpile will continue to grow. The hive warms with the lengthening days, Summer will soon arrive.
>>24866933This is a monumental day, not just for our people, but our nation as a whole.Until we can understand the method for birthing more of this caste, I say we shall not risk them needlessly. Let them take the place of the scouts, defending our borders from invaders from the south, while we send those previously guarding us to the north to find more resources.
>>24866933lets continue to forage food possibly see if we can farm ? also send our troops to scout
>>24866933I would say we should investigate those peaks to the NW. Maybe get some valuable stone for better weapons.
>>24866933Summer is a time of bounty and plenty and we have defenses of a kind now. Let the warriors defend the hive and watch the trolls while others scout in other directions
>>24867048Why do we need stone for war when our broodmothers make soldiers? Stone for building could be useful, though, and there might be valuables to find in the mountains.
>>24866933I'm confused what the different indicators mean. Does the bread icon in the top left indicate how much food we have, how much we produce in a round, or something else, and how does that interact with the values in the top right?
>>24867092>>24867092I agree with this. We should look for new resources, and try to upgrade our technology and our settlement.
>>24867146That's the stockpile panel, that's how much of <X> resource we have stockpiled. In this case it's meat, as you discover/harvest more, you'll get more tabs. Also, ignore the number in the coin, you haven't got wealth/currency yet, my bad. Each food resource provides for 4 citizens, though. You have 3 meat per turn, you can provide for 12 citizen before your meat stockpile starts disappearing, and once that's gone your population will begin to starve.
>>24867146I think the upper right number is how much we get per turn. How that interacts with population and food supply, that's CA's department.
>>24867170>>24867092>>24867090>>24867048>>24867007>>24866991Scouting shall take place towards the North, while the newly formed unit of soldiers guards the South. Will update shortly.
The scouts have returned! They reached what appears to be the most Northward reach of the forestland, emerging onto a wide grassland. A few areas were marking with emerging escarpments, with plenty strong stone piercing the earth.Towards the Western mountains, silvery deposits can be observed running through the cliff faces, but no usable stone. On the Southern front, all is quiet, and our warriors sit lazily on their abdomens, enjoying the warmth that Summer has brought.
Are there any options to change the size of your game when I have it open? It's causing me quite a few problems
>>24867379I much prefer the warriors to enjoy themselves versus being overrun, but I want them to remain vigilant. Perhaps encourage them to train amongst themselves, so to not let their natural aptitudes fade.Immediately begin mining stone and bringing it back down to the Primary Hive Cluster, and begin building fortifications with which to protect our lands.
>>24867423Not on that version, I'm afraid. I recently learned how to do it nicely (as you can probably tell by the wildly varying sizes of the images I'm posting) The next revision will be much more user friendly. If you keep an eye on my twitter, @counciladvisor , I'll try and release a sorted version tomorrow. (with a better tutorial)
>>24867379Lets use the strong stone from the plains to help mine the mountains of the silver material.
>>24867482>>24867440Stone first, then silver.
>>24867620Indeed. The stone will guard us, keep us safe.
>>24867379If it's iron, it's useful. If it's silver, it's not so useful.See if we can't use the stone for building materials and tools.
Getting ahead of ourselves, aren't we? Set aside some of our common people to try learning to work stone. Or wood. Wood should go first. But only wood that has already died of other causes! We are forest people. The trees shelter us.
>>24867718The esteemed councillor may have a point, try as we might, our mandibles are unable to sculpt rock as they do with wood...
>>24867733That is a good point. We need tools first. We should focus on that.
>>24867740So we're agreed that we spawn our own tools instead of researching them?
>>24867733Ouch, yeah lets focus on tools for now.>>24867754I thought our tech tree was bio-engineering, so they are the same, right?
>>24867770I think the implication is that we can do both, but for now we're focusing on making specialized workers for various roles. In that case, I say we nourish the broodmothers once more and create workers, with strong mandibles to chop down trees and cut stone.
>>24867845>>24867813>>24867770>>24867754>>24867740Shall we engage once more in brutal manipulation of our form, sisters?
>>24867966What nature cannot provide, we shall create.
>>24867966I think we should only do such things if it's absolutely necessary. I would rely on making tools. It's a lot less prone to failure and problems.
>>24867966Yes, stone crushing mandibles are a go.
>>24867813agreed and after this can we have an improved more efficient brood mother system also we should look into specialized foragers for flowers so to create honeyand maybe scouts with wings
>>24867990Creating work drones allows us to also grow our population, which we have space to do now, and is swifter than trying to piece together knowledge on our own. Later on, learning toolcrafting or knowing ways to better coax the broodmothers will be essential, but for now, we need those workers as quickly as possible, I feel.
>>24868007Wings!! How can we be insects without wings??
>>24868026>>24868007>>24868002>>24867975>>24867966So it shall be.Will update shortly.
>>24868026From what CA said, creating new broods is difficult and prone to error. I think it would be best to avoid trying it unless absolutely necessary.>>24868007Creating our own honey would be incredibly impractical. We don't have the work force that bees have.
>>24868074>>24868027>>24867990Unless you wish for more discussion on the topic?
Trolls so close to our hunting grounds is a bad thing. They are a danger to everyone and hunt in our hunting grounds.I say if they are as lacking in intelligence as we think they are, we dig deep pits and lure them into them. Then we can let them starve or devise other methods of dealing with them. Then consume them.
Kobold player here. Rabbit pit fighting was my idea. Odd how often digging a pit seems like a good idea to me. ps glad to see that the program is still being worked on.
>>24868074then lets get some bee hives going so we can collect honey
>>24868096Nah, go ahead with the evolution. Let's see what happens with that.
>>24868096It seems like public opinion is against me, so just go ahead with the evolution.
>>24868096I still motion for the forced evolution, but I do have questions. How likely is it that the Broodmothers will be able to spawn the workers we need? Are there ways to coax them to better refine their progeny, or is it all chance and luck? Once a new form is created, how difficult is it to make more of the same form?
>>24868125on the fence what is your other option for advancement what would be your alternative action
>>24868182He's about learning toolcrafting, as opposed to evolving it. I'm all "long live the new flesh."
one advantage of doing flesh crafting... it can't be stolen.
Hey, you. Procastario is calling your name. Get back to AGDG.
>>24868128Our knowledge is meagre, all things are uncertain to us. Luck certainly played a part in forging the first brood, but perhaps that same fate will be with us this time, or we'll discover new secrets of the process.
>>24868229Monstrous troll eaters would be fine too. What's our wing status, do we already have them or will that have to be another forced evolution breed?
>>24868256We of course have wings, but their functionality has long been lost.
>>24868224This counts as progress, I'm doing research into FUN.
>>24868229Go forth with creating a new brood, but gather our wisest drones to learn as much as we can about the Broodmother's birthing processes. We need to understand the methods from which they produce the swarms that nurture our nation.
>>24868309>>24868256>>24868220>>24868209We seem to have reached an accord, will update shortly.
>>24868295Carry on then
>>24868338How appropriate, using a Kamen Rider gif in a bug-Civ thread. I like it!
The most intelligent of our kind gathered, all resources they required were present, and the experimentation began. Many weeks, and thousands of larvae later, we are no closer to a new brood. However, a particularly bright individual noted that the larvae themselves have well developed mandibles, unlike those found on a pupated specimen - as you might expect on a being designed solely to devour. With this knowledge, our biomancers were able to halt the metamorphosis process before the transformation is complete, resulting in ab-creatures with voracious appetites, and incredibly strong mandibles. We can now work both forests and quarries to harvest their resources, if we choose to employ... larval-labour.In other happenings, our warriors note a welcome lack of Troll activity.Additionally, prey has been particularly abundant of late, and a bumper catch allowed our works in bioengineering to go on without disrupting our nation's growth.
>>24868527Excellent! Reward that keen-eyed biomancer in some fashion, and throw a celebration of our newfound prowess. Use these newfound larvae to begin harvesting the wood of our native forests, then the stone in the northern lands.
>>24868556agreedI think we should also think about creating another queen for possible expansion, either north near the stone deposits or south towards the silver mountain and river
>>24868598The queens are hungry, as are these newfound voracious larvae. I think once we reinforce the Primary Hive Cluster, we should increase our food production more. Much growth after this, and our people will starve.
>>24868627I find it weird that I'm doing research and planning for a bug-based monster in my game tomorrow while participating in this thread. I've got bugs on the brain tonight.
>>24868627>>24868598Expansion is our best bet, but I agree that we need to perhaps use wood and stone to learn how to farm the surrounding areas.
>>24868627We could start hunting trolls for meat.
>>24868674If we do expand, it should be to the north with the stone outcroppings. I say fortifying the Primary Hive Cluster comes first, that way the Secondary Hive Cluster can benefit from the knowledge we gained from working the stone.
>>24868665I literally just caught a yellow jacket queen a couple minutes ago.
>>24868697That would put our warriors at significant risk, and for now, we cannot make more. Taking them off of patrolling duty and making them hunt less dangerous game is an option I can support, though.
>>24868705What do you intend to do with her?
Will be calling it a day in a couple of rounds or so, chaps. Though we'll continue another time, naturally.
>>24868728breed her for harvester larvae obviously
>>24868728My brother's girlfriend is very allergic, so she's making me kill it. So I'll freeze and pin it.>>24868527We should start harvesting wood for buildings, then work our way up from there.
>>24868789Working wood will most likely be easier than working stone, and it will give us a framework from which to build upon. I second this man's motion.
>>24868527We're growing very close to growing larger than our food can support.I think we should certainly look for more food supplies.I am not opposed to using larva as stone cutters, but I'm not going to suggest it.
>>24868855Using the larvae to gather resources is the reason we put our biomancers to work in the first place. Gathering building materials and more food should definitely be our next objectives.
>>24868855agreed then our larva to cut wood
If we want to hunt Trolls and not put our warriors in danger, I put forward pit traps again. Deep pits, with spikes at the bottom. Also make sure we mark our traps so no one accidently steps on them except Trolls.
>>24868960Given that the trolls are likely bigger than us, we could perhaps even make traps that are strong enough to hold us, but break beneath the weight of a troll.
Spawn soldier ants and prepare them to hunt the trolls. The more intelligent drones are to devise strategies with the hunters on how to hunt/kill bigger and stronger prey; like trolls.
>>24868994I like the way you think.
>>24869042agree but this is not our priority. at the moment we need to focus on being sustainable and have resources coming in before we can do this
>>24869108This is a wise and salient point, and I agree with it.
So, this round you would like to harvest lumber, and setup traps for the trolls?
>>24869127I'd rather harvest and build in the same action. If we can't, then go ahead and hunt, but perhaps not trolls until we're ready for war.
>>24869127Yes, also put that brilliant biomancer to work thinking about how to restore the use of our wings.
>>24869144Addendum to this: starting hunting and out in the plains, bringing in new sources and varieties of food.
>>24869164Hunting and foraging, that is.One of these days, I'll learn to type.
>>24869164seems like a good idea
>>24869164>>24869194I am sure 2 actions would be possible this turn, given our development as a nation. So; harvesting lumber/traps, and finding new food sources to the North?Or does the council want something built aside from traps?
>>24869234If we are foraging to the north we might as well use the lumber to reinforce the hive
>>24869234My hope was to build up the Primary Hive Cluster with the materials we gathered, so it could better withstand attack. Building traps is one way to do so, I suppose, but walls and studier buildings (if we live aboveground) would also be included.
Either way sisters, it's obvious here that it's either us or the trolls. They're too close to us. I propose for our Scouts to circle the mountains getting back to the cluster from the opposite direction than the one they departed from. This will give us an idea of the trolls numbers and territory.
>>24864344You that anon from that /tg/ thread? I'm the game designer that liked your work.
>>24869283>>24869282So it shall be. Will update shortly.
>>24869314About how much left do you think you have in you, CA?
>>24869330This round and another one for good measure.
>>24869296I agree that for our nation to grow, they cannot continue to live. But I think your haste is misguided: the trolls have not made any offensive movements towards us. For now, we have the warriors defending our southern border, and soon the Primary Hive Cluster will be reinforced from their attacks. Given their raw might, we cannot endure an extended battle with them. Thus, when we begin our assaults, we must be able to win quickly and decisively; right now, we can't do that.If we unlock the secrets of making more warriors, I'll agree to war plans. For now, we expand where we can and defend what we have.
With workers design to rip trees apart, and an enormity of forest at our antenna-tips, we are capable of harvesting large quantities of lumber very quickly. The hive is reinforced promptly, using local lumber to circumvent the issue of transport. Sturdy wooden palisades now obscure and protect the entrances to our hive, formed from the largest trees we could fell nearby. Our food consumption has been outpaced by our growth, and shortly we will need to delve into our food stockpile to prevent starvation amongst our populace. In the North, our borders have expanded fluidly as small clearings in the forest are created, and we ought to have constant vision upon the plains next round, without further effort required. In the South, the Soldiers continue to report a lack of troll sightings.
>>24869412Sister i'm not proposing War yet. I'm proposing Taking a look to their premises, if at all possible not revealing ourselves. When you play the game of Drones, after all, you win or you die. I want all the possible advantages.
>>24869525Is our species solely carnivorous, or are we omnivorous?
>>24869525>>24869530scout the trolls, forage plains.
>>24869530Stealth and observation I can support. Stress the non-agressive nature of the investigations: our scouts cannot garner the attention of the trolls as they assess their numbers. I fear the trolls will not cease in their assaults once they decide to attack us.Also, I see what you did there.
>>24869525Excellent News! I suppose we can focus on food production for now then.
>>24869578We are omnivores, but truly built to hunt. None among us would CHOOSE to eat plants if we had the choice.
>>24869525Those trolls have been quite for too long. Send some scouts to determine where they are. Also, we need to get more food, I would suggest getting some dedicated fishermen at the river.
>>24869634>CHOOSE >choiceYeah, I'm tired.
[I'm: >>24869530]>>24869608Excellent then sister.
>>24869634My sisters are correct: assess the might of the trolls, while expanding our sources of good game. Fish, grazers on the northern plains, whatever sources we can use for the swarm.
>>24869679Think I'll adopt a name next quest m'self. Didn't want to with so few posts to go.
>>24869680>>24869645>>24869608Scouting seems to be a universally agreed command, as is acquiring more sustenance. One question about direction -North, or South? It seems unproductive to select both, but that, I suppose, is a third option.
>>24869634Well it seems like we'll have little choice eventually if we want to mantain a numerous population. Unless we decide we prefer eating trolls and other disgusting endoscheletrical prey, in such case we'd still better develop agriculture to feed those we'll keep as livestock.
>>24869743North, we want our workforce away from the trolls.
>>24869743To the north, definitely. More space to explore and hunt, I feel.
>>24869743South east using the forests and mountains there as "cover" and venturing outside them only occasionally. Let's see how much it takes before we get a troll Ping.
>>24869770>>24869766This seems fairly definite, and most sensible. Will update shortly.
>>24869817Wait, were you asking about directions for scouting or hunting? Because I think >>24869766 and >>24869770 were talking about hunting, while >>24869809 meant for scouting.
>>24869704
heh seemed cool
>>24869846Hunting. I understood on context.
In the North, our foraging goes well, to an extent. A delicious edible plant is discovered in small quantities, in a clearing at the very tip of our border. However, harvesting this on any scale is made very difficult by the lack of insectpower or resources on the frontier, and the slowness of transport between here and the hive. Our population continues to climb, albeit more steadily now. We dip into our stockpile in order to sate our horde's hunger. In the South, our soldiers have found a number of troll carcasses, stripped to the bone. Very shortly afterwards, they come across a band of lizardmen - the apparent slayers in this tale. They do not appear aware of our soldier's presence, and seem too well equipped for a simple band of barbarians...Image not updated, I managed to crash the program prior to saving. Will fix/recreate before next time.
>>24870098And that's me done until next time. My twitter is @counciladvisor , I try to give a small heads up on when threads will be - can't do them regularly on <X> day due to work, sorry. next time we'll have a vote on whether to continue our current tale, or revisit Winterbury/The Holy Kobold Sovereignty, and then threads will probably alternate between the two. Hope everyone's had fun, and hope I'll see you all next thread.
>>24870098Dun dun duuun! Now we know why the trolls weren't bothering with us, I suppose! Dire news for the next quest, then. That updated map will be essential, and I suppose we'll plan then.>>24870153Any clue when the next thread will be?
>>24870153I would like to continue on insectoid adventures. This is fun, thanks for running it.
>>24870172I'm afraid not. Hopefully, Tuesday or Wednesday next week, if not, possibly Thursday, else, the week after sometime. Yeah, I'll make sure I sort the map out. I managed to use an outdated version of the map utility, with all the glitches still around. Whoops. Still, no matter.>>24870217No problem, bro. Glad you enjoyed it.
>>24870217>>24870265Indeed! Thanks again to CA. Sorry things got off on a sour note, but then things turned around. Can't wait for next time.
Should we archive this first leg of the quest?
>>24870634yes we should, and it's not
.
>>24870684What were the tags used for the last ones? I'll put it up if CA's no longer around.
>>24870701Checking the suptg archive came up withCollective Game, MNB, NB, Micro-Nationbuilder, Nationbuilder, Kobolds, Rabbitsfor the Kobold quest, so something similar?Just chance Kobold to Bugs or Insectoids and Nation to Civilisation.
>>24870820Thread is archived, go vote it up.
