"Alright, things might be a little bit... crazy in there, so I'm going to go in first. I'll let you know when it's safe to follow me."

".... Safe?" Sakura asks, hesitant.

"If it's not safe, why are we waiting out here when Ilya and Rider are inside?" Rin asks, crossing her arms.

"In case Assassin followed me after I escaped from the Church." I get a surprised double take from all three of them as I open the door. "I'll explain everything in a minute. Right now, I just need you to trust me."

I walk inside the house, and I see Ilya standing in the yard, watching the Dojo. "Onii-chan?"

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but whatever you're planning on doing with Rider, you should do it quickly. She was crying until a minute ago, and then it got really quiet."

I slowly open up the door of the Dojo, and take in the sight. I see what looks like my own corpse sprawled across the floor like I was trying to crawl out of the building, running from something. On his back are a half dozen puncture wounds as well as a rather disorienting puddle of blood. The blood itself paints a trail back to the center of the room where what looks like a small dent from a sharp impact marked the arrival from the wall to my left where the initial attack took place. On the far side of the room, Rider sits against the wall hugging her knees with her hair wrapped around her.

So, end of the last thread...

Guys, I'm not saying this plan will backfire, but perhaps we should think this one out more.
>>
>>24855055
Running up is a baaaad idea.
Gently call over to her. Tell her that we were abducted. Thank her for finding out and preventing us from hurting anybody. Ask if she can verify if we're actually back, or acting through another body double.
>>
>>24855000
Keep your distance. No sudden moves. Clear, concise explanation that Rider was right about the BODY being a fake, and making that excruciatingly tough call.

Deliberately trace a small knife and inflict a small cut in the hand so Rider could sniff out whether we have our true body now.

Voting for >>24855090, but keeping >>24855135 in mind, perhaps we should sit down a few feet from her, then trace and cut palm, then detrace knife. Maybe talk to her before she approaches, saying that Assassin made the fake and we bolted out of the church the moment after we were killed.

>>24855000
"You were right, and I need your help to know if this is really me right now."
Walk forward without hesitation because we have to show we trust her, maintaining eye contact every step of the way. Offer hand for taste-testing.

So, considering that there's blood everywhere and rider was having problems because of it earlier, we should go towards her slowly, and if she goes to attack, CQC hug her.

Maybe just start talking. "As soon as you stabbed me, I woke up in the church with Zouken telling Assassin about his "simulacrum". I got away surprisingly easy. Rider?"

Should we ask Sakura to come in with us? Ask her to be ready to use a Command Seal to ensure that Rider doesn't hurt herself? Keep a bit of distance between us and Sakura so Rider doesn't think we intend to use her as a hostage?

This brings up an important point. She was saying that even with the smell of old blood from our wound in the dojo, she thought she could handle a few hours before succumbing to her baser instincts.

This is a LOT more blood than that (though the fact that it's not "genuine" blood might throw the equation off a bit? We have no way to know.)

Hopefully she's able to hold it off for around a half-hour in these conditions.

>>24855227
Gotta save this line for AFTER the crisis has been averted, I think.

Definitely worth saying, though.

I step inside, slowly and softly. "Rider?" Her head perks slightly, grabbing for something I can't see. "It's me. Listen, you were right. you actually saved me." She freezes mid motion, waiting. Listening? "The body was a fake, Zouken had me trapped somehow. When you killed it the real me woke up."

"..... How do you know you're the real one?"

".... Honestly, I don't. I was hoping you could tell me."

I stay several paces away, letting her decide on her own. "What if you aren't real? What if you're Assassin again?"

"I won't let him hurt you."

"How?"

"Sheer stubborn determination." I respond levelly. I then slowly conjure a knife and slice open a finger. "I'm sorry I'm asking this while you're so freaked out, but can you check? That's the only way I know for certain."

She sits there, staring at me for a long time waiting, thinking.

Dismiss the knife almost immediately after cutting ouselves. If we can get blood by biting our lip rather than producing weapons, even better.

"You were right, you know. After the spike hit home, I woke up in a Magi's atalier under the church. Zouken was talking about what a useful the decoy was, and about how our alliance would fturn to shit because of this. I barely managed to sneak out."

Extend the bloody hand/lip/whatever.

"While I have to admit getting nailed by you wasn't how I envisioned it, that was the best thing that could have happened. I don't blame you for what you did, and I'm grateful for freeing me. Now, if I'm real, this blood will taste like at the temple. If not, then I'm probably another decoy."

Approach, gently.

"In either case, I just want you to know - thank you. Rescuing me from that church did more good than you know."
>>
>>24855763
Whatever we do, assure her that (if our existential fear are true and we are a dummy), we need to raid the Church. Shirou's body is still there, even if the remote control dickery is still at play. We need to let her know that we still believe in her and that we can be saved, and we aren't dead.

Keep the hope alive. Make her believe in happy endings.

I'm pretty much convinced that may be the case, though I'm hoping there would be less trauma for all involved.

I'm thinking the true body (not the bland flavored blood Rider initially tasted at the Temple) is currently in that forest clearing. Like Merlin said...

This, this, this.
I wouldn't place any bets that we're in our real body right now.

However, I suggest that if we are a fake, we let everyone know this time around, go off with rider and have her kill us again (or someone else if once was too much for her), destroy the bodies, and then have everyone else make a plan and raid the church without us.

If we're not there and the bodies are destroyed, Zouken can't learn whatever plan everyone else comes up with.
>>
>>24856073
>I wouldn't place any bets that we're in our real body right now.
I mean, they came down into the church's basement looking for us, and were convinced that we had escaped before we botched our attempt to stealth away.

No reason for them to freak out about our going missing if the thing they saw was missing was a backup simulacrum body.
>>
>>24856073
Our body MIGHT also be out in the forest with Avenger, which would neatly explain why Merlin thought we were out there. Rather than have Rider kill us again we could have them raid the church while we go kick over Avenger's sand castle. If this body isn't real, we know its in one of those two places.

1-Being killed hurts. Seeing people Shirou loves hurts them. Don't cause them to be hurt when they can be saved.
2-We can skill actively participate in our rescue rather than be comatose in worm-rapist's lair. He's already pissed that we escaped once - I don't wanna go back to him, again. Why not loudly declare "SURE IS A GOOD DAY TO FUCK UP A CHURCH!" and then saunter off later giving our harem enough time to plan.
3-We may be real, and people die when they are killed.

She slowly stands up and walks over to me, taking my hand and slowly giving the cut on my finger a tiny suck.

There's a tiny, surprised gasp as she throws her arms around me, mumbling something in a language I don't understand. For a few moments we just stand there. Then, some stupid reflexively snarky part of my brain tries to ruin the moment. "You know, I think maybe you misunderstood what people mean by 'getting nailed'. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to involve this much blood and emotional trauma."

"Pfft, yeah. If you do it the boring way." She returns, surprising me with a kiss before suddenly walking past me. "A-anyway, now we know that it's dead and the real you is back, right?" She hesitates. ".... It was still you, right?"

"Kinda. I mean, I was there in spirit at least until you attacked it. The body was a loaner apparently, but it was still me."

"So you're still you you who...." She trails off, relieved smile on her face. ".... Alright. That's good to know." We step out of the Dojo, and Ilya gives us both a surprised looks before letting out a relived sigh and walking in the direction of the front door.

... My inner mad scientist wants to study this simulacrum phenomenon more and use it to, I dunno, make functional bodies for Sakura and Ilya.

But my rational side is telling me not to mess with magical experiments that involve Zouken.
>>
>>24856130
My guess is that our body was out in the forest, not with Avenger, but with Zouken.

He had to be keeping our body SOMEWHERE, seeing as the Matou house got blown up.

That'd mean his attack on the church was as much about getting rid of Kirei's meddling as it was about securing an "actual" base of operations for whatever he has planned.

(Since Zouken initially met with us through Assassin in a warehouse like those down by the docks, that could've been his initial secondary base of operations. We later learned that Kirei had been snooping around by the docks, so it could be that Zouken might have attacked Kirei to try and get rid of whatever he had learned there.)

All speculation, obviously, but that's half the fun.

[x] MAD SCIENCE
>>
>>24856225
We need to dispose of the simulacrum corpse to the best of our ability, as we overheard them discussing that if the spirit returns to the main body, the remains of the simulacrum will attempt to return to its master by any means necessary in order to transmit what it had learned.

If we decide to postpone this until after explaining everything to the rest of the household (which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do), we should at least keep an eye on the thing so it doesn't melt into a puddle of magic goop and slop out the door.

Other than that, we need to let everyone know what the deal was with the whole "situation" inside.
>>
>>24856225
Find Simulacrum, destroy it. Assassin said that if it doesn't return alive he losses a bit of himself. Fairy sure it's dead, but take no chances.
Infodump everyone. Be sure to state "Rider's intuition was right and she did the right thing, no matter how confusing it was at the time."
>>24856273
Let's not burn it and let the sight and smell of a burning body invoke PTSD Shirou, we don't need that right now.
>>
So we should secure the body, or destroy it and let everyone else know what was going on. Zouken is NOT allowed to get a hold of it and it'll be grabbed the moment it leaves our sight.

Other than that, see if we're back to normal now. If we are, see if we're able to contract again, maybe have Ilya take a look at us.

1. Explain what just happened to everyone.

3. Inform everyone of what we overheard from Zouken. Particularly the bits about some as-of-yet unidentified person in our little alliance being manipulated/blackmailed/working for Zouken. Most likely he was using us as a hostage to get his claws into someone.

I disagree. We should burn it, but not NOW.

We should strike while the iron's hot. Fuck with Zouken and his plans and figure out who the third person was at the Church (we managed to ID two of them - Zouken & Assassin)

Afterwards, though. Shirou needs to relive what happened in the Fire 10 years ago. We can't really experience that until we have a trigger. Lighting outsevlves on fire is a bit dangerous, nach. However, seeing something as personal as your own doppelganger burn? Might give us some insights.

If we manage to get a hold of Archer ask him for advice on killing Zouken, he can probably give us some suggestions on putting him down for good.
>>
>>24856513
>Perhaps we should wrap it up and carry it with us when we raid the church.
The entire point in getting rid of the simulacrum is so it can't make its way back to Zouken and transmit all of its delicious intel.

And you want us to not only bring it with us to his base of operations, but put it in direct physical contact with him.

Because you think using it as an improvised bludgeoning weapon would be funny?

Man, I don't even know anymore.

To our knwoeldge, ZOuekn has at his disposal 1-Himself (and all his magical skills), 2-Assassing (Scarier than normal but still the weakest Servant) and 3-Unknown (Possibly Kotomine or Avenger).

We have Two Servants on board with us right now, plus we can call on Lancer, Caster and Arcueid for aid.

We're afraid that if we leave the corpse unattended, it will explore/reanimate/burn our house and steal the insurance.

It can't DO any of these things if we're observing it.

Furthermore, assuming AC-guy is silly enough to follow through on my joke, I doubt Zouken would be able to glean delicious intel on us from the corpse when we're raining down swords, misery, and revenge on his ass.

I thought the intel thing would take some finesse, like putting a HD into an enclosure - something easily done for a skiller person, but requiring some time and delicacy.

1) Make sure the simulacrum doesn't get up and walk away, or get snatched out from under our noses.
2) Brief the household more in depth on everything that just happened; the girls outside on what happened in the Dojo, Rider on what we overheard Zouken and Assassin talking about, clarify details of both to all parties, etc.
3) Call alliance members and inform them of what happened. Maybe slightly less detail than the people in the house, but make sure they know that Zouken/Assassin are definitely hostile, and that they've taken the Church as their base of operations.

Everyone gathers in the living room, where I sit them down to explain. "Alright, so here's the short of it: at some point fairly recently, I was replaced by a simulacrum duplicate."

"Wait, how did you do that?" Rin asks. "That's really advanced Magecraft."

"I didn't. Assassin did."

".... What?" Sakura asks, confused. "You mean you weren't here?"

"Not knowingly, and not by choice. I mean, I was still here, I was just apparently having something of an out of body experience."

".... So the real you was?"

"Being held by Zouken in the basement of the Church when I woke up. Rider realized it wasn't the real me, and shocked me out of the fake thing and back to reality."

"... I see." Rin responds. "What happened to the fake?"

"... Neutralized, in the Dojo. I'm not sure I'd recommend going in there, I haven't had a chance to clean it up yet."

"Clean what up?" Sakura asks, looking between myself and Rider confused.

"What Shirou means is that I had to kill it when it started freaking out after he lost control of it."

"... So there's a Shirou shaped corpse just sitting in the Dojo?" Saber asks while Rin and Sakura stare at me started. "That's.... rather disturbing."

"So wait, how long has the fake Shirou been running around?" Saber asks.

"I'm not sure. He wouldn't be able to do his magic like that so-" Her eyes go wide. "When Zouken tripped the wards last night. It's the only time he would've been alone in that time-frame."

"You're sure I couldn't have done the magic?"

"A simulacrum is like a weaker puppet version of a Homunculus." Ilya explains. "And even then most people can't make them properly. The one you used was either artificial or made from a corpse. You wouldn't be able to properly channel through it. It's likely you could only walk because Assassin allowed you to."

"Is there anything we could learn from it?" Saber asks, and Ilya shakes her head.

"It might give me a limited view of what he did, but I know everything else it could tell us."

We should suggest that we think it could've happened even earlier, which would explain our inability to recontract with Saber; the command spells would've been with the real Shirou body.

If we try and recontract with Saber after Caster's geas is up and it works, it'll be pretty reasonable proof that we had been replaced earlier than that.

Command Spells are, presumably, way "bigger" magic than Shirou's personal abilities as far as the academic magi are concerned, so this should make them think a little bit about it without having to outright say what we think ACTUALLY tripped the wards, nor having to bring up our sleep-visit with Assassin back when Archer was still trying to murder us.

...though at this point, the night visit by Assassin might be perfectly acceptable to let people know about. If that's actually when we were replaced, that is.
>>
...Ah dammit. Hey, did anyone else know that King Arthur owned a dog named Cavall? Because I just remembered that when I came across that reference in my copy of Once and Future King.

Forget Bedivere, this is the only thing we can name Diurmutt.

These. We don't want any nasty surprises when we go wreck his shit.

As much as I'd love to run off right now and start blowing stuff up, we need to make sure nobody is going to backstab us, or that he didn't put a magical bomb in our chest just in case we escaped.
>>
>>24857057
"Actually... Illya? Knowing me and a the 'impossible' things that I've pulled, What are the chances that I could have been in that body, for a couple days, and used magecraft like normal? I met with Zouken a few days earlier in my room, through assassin no less, and I'm wondering if Assassin might have done the switch way back then?"

>>24857190
I don't think it would have been THAT early on. Rider was with us then, and first sucked out blood after fighting Zouken. We didn't find Saber until we went back inside the house. Zouken would of had to switch the bodies after our fight, but before we met up with Saber again.
>>
>>24857190
We really should check about contracting with Saber, just in case.

Also, just out of curiosity, do we have any good Anti-Fortress Phantasms? If we're going after Zouken soon, we really need to know what our resources are.
>>
>>24857231
Oh, and Destroy the body, drop Illya and Sakura off with Caster (or if Caster is still going back and forth, they can stay here) and then have everyone else attack the church and destroy Zouken.
>>
That corpse is a puppet, right? Are we sure that it isn't, you know, walking out of the house as we speak?
>>
Also remember assassin's simulacrum was said to work very much like our projection, so might've been able to work with it because of that.
>>
When was the last time we compared notes with Archer?
>>
>>24857268
> drop Illya and Sakura off with Caster

We still don't know who the potential double agent is. After Sakura, the next suspect is probably Caster. We need to make sure we don't do something full retard in our haste to murder the wormnigger.
>>
>>24857173
While that may be true, I believe we can assume that they know the jig is up, and are probably already fortifying, considering we got away.

I am also not eager to find out just how huge Assassain really is, since we're fairly sure that he could have taken both Saber and us easily. Adding in Rider and Rin into the equation isn't really going to swing the balance too far into our favor. Caster is still I wild card, so I don't count her, and I think Bazette's still probably a bit paranoid about everything. Especially since it will turn out that a simulacrum signed that thing earlier. Not us.
>>
We may want to try contracting with Saber again to see if that works now. Also Avenger quite probably knew about this due to his "they're looking for your soul wrong" comment. If the contract with saber goes through than this means we were replaced before the wards were tripped and we need a new working theory as to when Zouken managed this.
>>
>>24857276
Well, the evidence suggests that it TRIED to walk out, right before Rider stabbed it many, many times.

We're officially suspecting Taiga.

The paranoia will break our alliance before the traitor at this rate.

Personally, I'm betting Bedivere is Zouken's familiar. (Joking. Seriously, trust the pooch.)
>>
I vote we let the actually decent magi examine the body but also have Illya examine our current body as well to see if the extreme weirdness of our body was due to it being a simulcram or not. Also the real Berserker may have been inside us all along. Zouken may have had our actual body when Berserker died and we might or might not be the grail after having made a wish to live during the fire.

"Are we completely sure there's nothing to learn from the body?"

"I can take a look at it to be sure, but I doubt it." Ilya responds, shaking her head. Rin nods.

"Ilya would know more than me on the topic." She says. "If she says there's no point then there's no point."

"I see." Saber says. "Then I suppose we should destroy it?"

"Assassin said he could learn from it, probably in the way Ilya mentioned. Also he said that if he couldn't reclaim it, he would be weakened."

"Alright, so what do we do then? Burn it?" Sakura asks, clearly uncomfortable.

"Burning's a bad way to do it, unless the fire is REALLY hot is just kinda chars and melts and doesn't dispose of much. Especially the bone." I answer, thinking about it. "I guess magical fire would work? I mean, if it got hot enough."

"Lancer said something about that, I believe." Ilya comments. "We could ask him to do it."

"What makes you so sure he'd agree?" Saber asks.

"I'd ask nicely. apparently you didn't notice, but he'll do pretty much anything for women." She replies easily as she walks towards the Dojo. She stops in the doorway. "Did you leave the door open?"

"No." I respond, looking back and seeing the door cracked.

Interestingly, if we stab it with Rule Breaker, and it's a fragment of Assassin as was implied, it might break Zouken's contract with him as it did Saber's with us.

He might just recontract immediately, but it'll mean he can't do so until he and Assassin are back in the same place, so if Assassin is breaking in he won't be able to give orders at a distance until Assassin returns to the church.

If it's not a fragment of Assassin, we get the cathartic feeling of shanking the doppelganger. Win-Win!

AC-Guy has gone on record (can't remember if it was on /tg/ or not. It could've just been us talking) and said that Cain qualifies for three classes: Caster, Assassin, and Berserker.

And that Brozerker is arguably his weakest incarnation since apparently it's formed under a false assumption of his story.

>>24858836

I don't think the same person can be summoned twice in one war, but I could be mistaken.
>>
Also we know servant Berserker is Kain. We do not know servant assassin is. And that's assuming Kain didn't pull a kill and replace followed by using assassin's body as a puppet using mimicked skills. I mean seriously at least one man crazy and famous enough to be berserker could probably pull it off.
>>
>>24858807
He can mimic anyone who was able to be summoned into the Berseker class. There are almost necessarily Berserkers that could've been viable Assassins. (Presuming that we are outside a continuity where Hassan is the "only" Assassin, which we would only "know" OOC anyway.)

This doesn't mean he has to use Mad Enhancement while mimicing them, however.

>>24858836
>Doubt it. Cain liked us, he wouldn't bitch at us out of the blue and say that we're out of our league here.
Just because Cain likes us doesn't mean he wouldn't attack us if he were contracted to someone who didn't.

>>24858815
>Cain's veil doesn't work on those who already know his identity. Shirou does and so it won't work on him.
Pretty sure this only applies if we know that the masked individual is Cain, which we obviously wouldn't in Buff!Assassin's case. Until now, maybe?
>>
>>24858890
The only limitation that I can recall is that only one of each class can be summoned each war. The same servant can be summoned multiple times if they qualify for multiple classes.

Random thought: Zouken knew we got awake. Maybe he started talking about the traitor just to seed uncertainty and everybody is loyal? Even if not, I suggest being completely honest about it with everyone. Just to show that we're honest, trusting, naive, and we wont allow Zouken to destroy our alliance.

But just in case, I'm glad we have the Rulebraker. We don't know how much control Caster has over her NP. Maybe she'll be able to severe our Geass but keep her contract with Saber. Hell, maybe she could brake just her part of the Geass, leaving us bound by it. According to UBW, she can steal contracts with it, not only break them.

Oh, and a really random thought about UBW. Can Archer Rulebreak himself out of being a Counter Guardian?

Also, I'm for shocking ourselves with burning corpse, not because DRAMA (not only at least), but also:
- If we're connected with something controlled by Avenger, this can snap us out of it.
- If we're alive because of third magic or something else connected to the fire, and if this is causing inability to contract Saber (maybe the first contract was a strange exception, not the lack of second one), we want to know everything about it. Because we want as hell to contract Altria. So Lancer's question "do you want it for yourself or for them" gets kinda good answer.
- this shit I'm the most uncertain: if Sakura will be by it (and Lancer suggested she should), she ALSO would face her nightmares, and this (along with "I need YOU to help me) can solve her problems.

Random thought #3: maybe Avenger's weird body is a projection made by Assassin?
>>
>>24862184

No don't believe that your second spoilery rulebreaker usage works. Otherwise UBW route would be composed of archer catching glimpse of rulebreaker, traing it, and then stabbing himelf with it also i'm thinking avengers weird body is actually shirou's actual original body. also we need to verify that it wasn't just that our previous fake body had some imperfection that prevented contracting.
And now for the joking part of my post presenting the ultimate conclusion to the paranoia theories:
Shirou's current body is actually Cain's body using his noble phantasm to appear as berserker incarnation of archer. (what can I say the guy was utterly insane and therefore might qualify for berserker)

- Grail needs 7 servants to appear
- ThreweThree extra servants are here - falae assassin, gilgamesh and avenger
- So we can have three servants when the grail appears
- Archer and Lancer kill each other. If Lancer survives then everyone else gangs up on him, thua granting his wish of an awesome fight
- If Archer survives he kills himself because he honestly has no reasom to be here anymore. Aplogize for not being able to help him
- Only survivors now are Caster Seiba and Rider
- All three eithwr contract with caster or Bazett, who Is prolly the only Master with an actual wish
- ???
- EVERYONE IS WINNAR
>>
>>24863288
Actually, Gil counts as much as three Servants in terms of filing the Grail.
So we only need to kill 4 more Servants, 3 if Brozerker's essence gets redirected where it should.
That means we only have to kill Avenger, Assassin, and either Archer or Lancer.
If Brozerker's soul counts for multiple Servants like Gil's, then we would only have to kill Avenger and/or Assassin to fill the grail.

"Well, step one is nobody panics." I say, more calm than I feel. "Step two is clearing the house, making sure who or what opened the door is either non-hostile or gone."

"So we split up?" Rin asks, and I shake my head.

"If it's Assassin, he can copy and replace people. Splitting up would be the worst possible thing to do at the moment." I respond calmly. "We search the house in pairs, and make sure we stay in sight of at least one other pair at all times."

I get a series of nods, and I end up watching the Dojo with Ilya while Saber and Rin go one way, and Rider and Sakura go another. Apparently everyone else was too uncomfortable with the idea of staring at my corpse.

"So, Onii-chan. How are things with the other girls?"

".... In what context?"

"In the 'why haven't you gotten laid yet' context." I blink and look at her with a measure of surprise. "What? You KNOW I'm not as young as I look."

"I know. It's still kinda weird having someone who looks like a kid say that. Also you seem too.... -classy?- to say something like that."

She smiles slightly. "Well, you are my brother. If I can't relax around you...." She sighs. "Anyway...."

"Well, Rin I think mostly just doesn't want to distract either of us. I think if I said anything she'd be willing. Saber..... she has a very fatalistic attitude. I don't think she'd be willing to even contemplate anything if I couldn't snap her out of that."

"What about Rider and Sakura?"

"Rider has some kinda trust issues in the way, and Sakura...." I sigh.

"Sakura has problems." Ilya responds. "I overheard her from her nap earlier."

"Nap?"

"Yeah, apparently she dreamed something and then asked Rider to use her dream magic to try and get rid of some weird impulse of hers."

".... Really?"

"Yeah. I tried using my magic to figure out what she was talking about, but all I could manage without revealing my interest was intense arousal and extreme mind-shattering horror directed at herself."

"...... Not a good sign." I say looking across the yard.

"I don't think it was Assassin." Ilya finally says.

"Really?"

"That smell Rider mentioned, I noticed it too. It's not quite brimstone, it's more like a burnt metal."

"You recognize it?"

"It's kinda what you smelled like, at the Church when Archer turned on us." She answers. "Did you ever tell them about him?"

"... Rin knows. I'm fairly certain Saber knows too. I'm not sure about Sakura or Rider. Or our other allies, for that matter."

"I don't think you should tell Sakura. She's a little too.... unbalanced to be trusted with that sort of knowledge." She sighs. "Since Caster's gone for the moment to parts unknown, we should contact Lancer to dispose of the body."

"If I had a number, I would."

"You can't think of another way?" She asks, disappointed as the others come back.

"Whoever it was, they're gone." Rin says with a sigh. "I'll work on the wards later to prevent this from happening again, but....."

Next, contact Lancer for the disposal of the simulacrum.

"Alright." I say. "I'm going to call Lancer."

"I thought you said you didn't know the number." Ilya asks.

"I don't, but I do have a terrible plan." I answer easily, as I begin to walk towards the house. Rin follows me, Saber apparently having taken my place at Ilya's side. I look around in the phone book for a minute, glance at the map to confirm my guess.

There's a few minutes of ringing, when suddenly "Fuyuki Gardens Hotel. How may I help you?" A polite and serious voice asks.

"Can I please be connected to the Honeymoon Suite?" I inquire, putting on a somewhat distracted air. "My new friends seem to have left something behind with me."

"Friends?" The voice returns. "I'm sorry, but they asked not to be disturbed unless it was important."

"It's something of a.... personal item. I do have the right hotel? The cute Irish couple?"

"... Yes sir you do but-" There's a hesitation on the line "-hold on, I see the Mr you're asking about in the lobby now. Sir?" The voice is directed away from the phone for a moment, and all I can hear is some distant conversation. Then-

"Hello?" Lancer's voice comes over the phone.

"Hey Lancer. I need to ask a favor, but you should probably act like Bazett left something embarrassing if you're in earshot of the Manager."

"She left her what?" He asks with a not quite faked nervous laugh. "I see. And it's at your House?"

"Yeah, that would be for the best."

"Alright then." He says. "I needed to run an errand anyway. I'll be right over." He hangs the phone up, and I turn to an exasperated Rin.

"How?" She says, merely staring at me uncomprehending.

"Spooky Magic." I respond with a slight finger waggling.

".... So wild guesswork and blind luck?"

"That's pretty much how I do everything these days." I hesitate. "Which is slightly terrifying now that I think about it."

"Right. Well, this body isn't gonna move itself (dun dun DUN), and I wouldn't want anyone else to freak out when they see this, so..."

Proceed to stuff the body in the workshop or closet and clean up the dojo.

Drop a voice message to Issei asking for Archer to make contact with Shirou later. Archer might think a letter would be a fake, and infodumping over voice mail might freak out Issei. Agree for a meet-up after Lancer disposes the simulacrum body.

Then, begin the hunt (optionally alongside Archer) because it's Worm Season.

I grab my cellphone and shoot a simple text off to Issei 'I'm not dead, I'll explain later' as we walk back out to the Dojo.

"Alright, since everyone else is kinda uncomfortable about it, I'm going to grab a spare rug out of the shed and wrap the body in it."

".... Why?" Sakura asks, clearly uncomfortable with my attitude.

"Because I wanted to clean the Dojo and it's going to be in the way for that." I answer, scratching my neck "I mean, have you SEEN that? I'd like to take a crack at it before the blood's had a chance to dry completely."

With that I move the body that's thankfully stopped leaking and placed it outside. I only get partway into the scrubbing when Lancer arrives.

"Hey kid, you say you needed a fa- sweet fuck, what happened?" He greets, violently changing gears as he gets a good look at the inside of the Dojo.

"Hey. You said you had magical fire that could destroy corpses?"

".... Yes." He answers cautiously.

"Can you do the one wrapped in the rug over there?"

"I guess. Who's the stiff?"

"Me. Kinda."

Lancer stops, giving me a confused look, before walking over to the rug and pulling it slightly open. He then gives me a stranger look and continues. "What."

"Right, that wasn't the real me. Apparently, I was swapped for a fake me by Zouken recently."

"How long?"

"At least most of the day, apparently. I've been with people this entire time." I respond.

After confirming with myself and Ilya that there's no danger or loss in destroying the corpse, he does so. He then looks at me. "Anything else you need or want while I'm here?"

"The runes have changed. Parts fading, one gone completely."

"Really? Damn. I'll need to look into that, let you know what I find." Lancer responds with a frown.

"So exactly what did you see earlier today? With Kirei?"

"I saw him get stabbed a few times, then he torn his sling and most of his sleeve off and I saw that his entire arm was covered in command seals. A couple of them started glowing like he was going to do something with them, but then Assassin just started ripping him to pieces. I didn't see the actual kill, but I did see a lot of blood and a leg come out. It didn't smell fake either, not like that one did." He says with a gesture, motioning towards the spot where he burned my double.

"So, is it just me, or did that Assassin-"

"Give off scary vibes about fifty times worse than he should've?" Lancer nods, shaking his head. "Yeah, I noticed that too. Part of the reason I broke off instead of engaging."

"So you just left Kirei to die?" Rin asks, seemingly equal parts confused and angry.

"My Master was watching what happened through my eyes. She told me to investigate and I did. She told me to get the hell out and I didn't argue." Lancer answers, arms folded. "I would've saved him if I could, but I'm pretty sure I would've died too." Suddenly, he frowns, looking at me. "How the hell did you find us, anyway?"

"I was inspired by your tracking skills demonstrated earlier, decided to give it a go."

"In all honesty, it wasn't that hard to figure out." I respond. "I know where the Pharmacy you mentioned was, and if you were walking through the mall as a shortcut there's only two hotels that direction in walking distance. Only one of them had a Honeymoon Suite."

"What made you so sure about the Honeymoon Suite?"

"Because the two of you disguising yourself as a couple would allow for a reasonable degree of privacy and anonymity? Also, you would do it just to mess with her."

"So what, you think I was planning something there?" He asks, planting one hand on his hip.

"I think you would do it even if you hated each other, just to get a rise out of her by acting all 'affectionate' in public using your disguise as an excuse."

He snickers. "It was pretty funny seeing her reaction when I carried her in like a princess." He smiles, looking at me. "In all honesty though, I'm having less luck than you on the romantic front. Then again Four's hard to top. I think there's actually a score multiplier in there somewhere."

"... I think you misunderstand something...." Rin says hesitantly off to my right while I stare disbelieving, realizing my mistake.

"Oh? Did I?" Lancer asks with a smile, grin becoming more predatory. "Then why is it that when I laid the accusation I got three blushes and one knowing grin?"

Rin does a slight double-take and blushes harder. Judging by everyone else's reactions, they're too shocked to formulate a proper response. "H-hey, It's really not what you think....."
>>
>>24877234

"Really? Why not?" Lancer frowns, looking at her more curious than anything. "I mean, not that it's my business what you might be up to in here-"

"Yes. Exactly. None of your business." Rin cuts him off.

".... That's exactly my point. The only people who's opinion matters would be yours. I mean, it's pretty obvious even to me, and I'm usually pretty terrible about this sort of thing. You just need to get over yourselves."

He leaves a shocked crowd after leaving a reliable contact number, and Ilya drags me away from the main group before the awkward questioning can arise. "Thanks for the save."

"Just the two of us? I'm not sure we could get away with it given what I just let Lancer pull."

"I was waiting for a distraction like that actually." She responds, tugging at my sleeve. "If we're quick about it, we can be there and back before they even realize."

"Alright, but what if we're attacked?"

"We're going to be in public places, sticking with decently crowded areas." She answers, slipping on her boots. "Come on."

I finally stop resisting, following her as we walk along. "So what is it you needed to talk about?"

"A couple of things." She says, looking back at me. "First of all, when was the last time you ate?"

"... I had a burger when I was out with Saber."

"Did you?" She asks, and then turns away. "There's something that you need to know, something I haven't shared with the others. I'm not sure you should either, but you need to know."

"And that is?"

"Your magic is weird."

I stop walking. "... You had us sneak out of the house so that you could tell me the blatantly obvious?"

"No. I need to tell you about why your magic is weird." She says, continuing to walk. After a few steps I resume following. "The first time I examined you doing magic, you weren't using your circuits. You were using your nerves as artificial circuits, which is terrifyingly dangerous. A tiny misstep could leave you permanently crippled. Then, you awoke your magic Circuits, and started projecting. Then you woke up different circuits, and started doing... other things."

"How is that weird?"

"Well for one, the circuits are developing much more rapidly than they should be. It's almost like scheduling puberty to happen one afternoon and be done with. There's a process there, a process you seem to be skipping over." She frowns looking at me. "Then there's the circuits themselves."

"Beyond the growth?"

"You have two sets of circuits that do different magic."

"....So?"

"That's like being born with two hearts. Magic isn't divided in a person like that. Or, it shouldn't be."
>>
>>24877691

"So what does that mean for me?"

"Are you at all hungry?"

"... No, not really. Lunch wasn't that long ago."

"You didn't eat lunch."

"... Yes I did, Saber and I-"

"You've been locked in the church all day, remember? Or are you claiming you aren't hungry because your doppelganger had a snack?"

I stop walking, and this time so does she. ".... What are you saying?"

"Honestly, I'm not entirely sure." She says, tilting her head with a frown. "I don't need to eat, at least not as much. Then again, I'm not technically human. Servants don't need food either, but they're all ghosts of some stripe." She smile as a wave of nausea washes over me. "Hey, I already told you. You're at least as human as I am." She grabs my hand and squeezes gently. "No matter what happens, you're still my brother yeah?"

".... Yeah."

"Alright then." She turns and begins walking, pulling me along at first. "Now, you've got your women troubles....."

".... After that revelation, that's what you want to talk about?"

"I was trying to distract you from the existential crisis with pretty girls, yes." She sighs. "I don't think you should push anything after Lancer's reveal. Let them sort it out."

"That was the plan we had." I answer.

".... Plan?"
>>
>>24877698

"Lancer proposed doing pretty much exactly that, although nicer, to me on the side when I talked to him the other day." I reply, looking at her. "Rider was also apparently testing the waters for something like that for her own reasons."

"... You were actually plotting to get them all this whole time?" Ilya says shocked. "I'm honestly not sure if I should be worried or giving you a high-five."

"My intention wasn't to seduce them, I just realized I had accidentally created something of a house of cards founded on sexual tension for the alliance. I wanted to defuse that time-bomb before it got someone killed, and using other people to settle the issue without making me look evil...."

Ilya smiles. "I'm glad Dad rubbed off on you."

"Why, did he have women problems?"

"I meant that you want to do the right thing, and you aren't afraid to play dirty when you have to." She laughs. "Seriously though, are all of your jokes this self depreciative?"

"Only the funny ones." I say, and she laughs. "What?"

"Just remembering what I said. You're a good man, but you're a damn sight from honest." She smiles up at me wider than I remember her ever smiling before. "That's alright though, because honest men are boring."

"Not literally." I clarify.

"Really now?" She asks with a smile. "And when exactly did you become a ladies man?"

"I have no idea. I wish I knew it was happening, because I was and remain completely unprepared."

I hope you guys remember that Merlin looked at the future and saw Ayako happy some years down the line.

Also mentioned to stop involving outsiders.

I know she's got peripheral knowledge, but there's no need to update her on how the Grail War has been going as, all things willing, her involvement in it is basically over, and dragging her back in jeopardizes her safety unnecessarily.

And for what it's worth, next time we run into Archer, trying to flesh out a way to contact him without requiring Issei as a medium seems like a reasonable idea for similar reasons.

>>24878629
>Sneak in a bit of Sakura time here.
We're gonna need a lot more than "a bit" of Sakura time to work things out, but I'd imagine we're reaching the point where it's probably going to be taken care of in the next thread, so there'll be plenty of time to work with.

First thing when we get back, I think, is to see what kind of mental process the whole group has been going through while we were out, (including potential freakout mitigation from all parties, for various reasons. Rin, at the very least, is probably going to be irritated that we ran off without telling anyone yet again), and whether Rider had dropped suggestions as were discussed.

And if so, what kind of responses were there to said suggestions.

We return home rather quickly after that, and put things away in the kitchen. after a few minutes work, Rider approaches. "Do you have a minute to talk?"

"Sure?" I respond, looking at her over the groceries.

"Privately?" Ilya grabs the hint and runs with it, all the way to her room. "Not sure the plan worked."

"What plan?"

"The Dream thing. Sakura took a brief nap earlier today, and I took the chance to put... 'happy' thought in like you suggested."

".... And?"

"She didn't resist. In fact, she took the scenario a little further than I thought." She coughs. "Actually a lot further. But then in the Hypothetical afterglow, she suddenly wakes up and starts crying. Then she finds me, apparently completely unaware of my role in things and starts begging me to 'use my dream powers' to 'brainwash the slut out of her'."

".... Huh."

"Yeah. I think maybe she's worse than we thought. Or maybe messed up in a different way." She sighs. "Honestly, we probably should've realized this. Apparently she was.... abused.... so she'd probably have a warped view on that sort of thing, remembering the painful and embarrassing side of things."

".... In retrospect, yeah, that seems kinda dumb of us."

"To be fair, I didn't expect my suggestion of 'maybe share' to turn to something so... lewd." She frowns again. "Actually, that implies an entirely different set of terrifying possibilities. I think maybe the Lancer thing happened too soon."

"... You say that like it was planned."

"After we already talked about something similar? Besides, you were just a little too composed." she smiles. "Don't worry, the others were a little too worried about the implications to notice."

"Of course." I respond. "What about you then?"

She hesitates, looking away and crossing her arms. "I'm not saying no, but.... it's asking a lot. I want to believe and accept but....." Se bites her lip. "I don't know. I guess I just need something to convince me to take that leap of faith."

"Like what?"

".... I wish I knew." She answers with a sad smile. "At the very least, I think I can help Sakura. Maybe it's not perfect, but it's something I could live with and be proud of." She turns back to me. "Baby steps, right?"

I kind of want to make sure she knows that we were still in our right mind during Doppelshirou's Day Out.

But maybe jokingly suggest that we could still owe her another day out on the town since there's probably a rule somewhere that says simulacrum dates are null and void.

No matter how she reacts to this it's a good litmus test. If she gets flustered and says that she had a good time, that's good. If she expresses interest in further Shirou outings, that's good.

...Although considering it's Raiga, we could just offer to fix a few of his bikes for free at a later date and call it even.

Caster.

We need to get our contract on with Saber, but we can't do it while she's contracted with Caster, and suddenly breaking that contract without informing Caster that its happening would be rude at best.
>>
>>24878921

Looks like Saber has it.

We can always bring her with us to find Caster after we have a quick private chat,
>>
>>24878825
So... What if we went back to the storage unit with Saber and Rider, loaded those foreign beauties down with foreign dosh, and have them go to a bank and exchange them superfluous bills into yen?

That way, it doesn't look like we had a windfall - it looks like our house guests are pitching in for the household expenses.

Also, if we did call Raiga and mention Shirou was given a second hand motorcycle, the man might just as him what he needs to get it up and running - Shirou's been fixing Raiga's bike for spare cash.
>>
>>24878931

We could ask taiga to help us ask.
>>
>>24878948

Or, we could not beg for money like a hobo.
>>
>>24878957
Or we could ask bestsister to loan us some dosh and we'll pay her back after the war has settled down
>>

"FUJIMURA-SAMA."
"I thought I said I was not to be disturbed."
"...FORGIVE ME, SIR!"
"Well, out with it. What's so important that you had to interrupt this meeting?"
"IS THE EMIYA BOY SUPPOSED TO BE ON FIRE?"
"...What."
>>
>>24878975

Does she even have access to the finances?

Her maids would probably, though. HMMMM.
>>
>>24878982
>>24878975

..are you seriously considering bumming money off of our little sister to buy horribly expensive performance bike parts so we have a slightly better shot at getting with Rider?

Well, it's 8 AM in my timezone and I'm falling asleep.
Try not to get us killed in next the post or two remaining in the thread. /tg/ dice will always find a way to off us.

No.

For improved combat performance.

Think of Saber on the bike in Fate/Zero
>>
I go find Saber, and see her sitting on the porch, petting Bedivere. She smiles when she sees me. "Shirou."

"Hey." I say sitting next to her.

"... So that was the fake I spent the day with?"

"Fake body, yeah. It was still me though." I smile "But if that doesn't count or something we could have another outing to make up for it."

She looks at me surprised, and then starts laughing gently. "Why? Like you said, it was you. It's not like it was a planned date or something, we just ended up getting sidetracked while searching for a meal." She smiles. "I appreciate the gesture though."

We sit there in silence for a few moments, when suddenly she turns to me. "So why is Lancer so convinced that you're romantically involved with the entire household? First he accused us of being on a date earlier, and then he came here....."

"I think part of it was payback for my ribbing him. Also, we went and got food, hit an arcade and then went shopping. That's pretty much an entire 'date' even if that wasn't really the original intent for either of us."

".....Oh really now?" She says, frowning at me.

"I'm not saying that's what it was. I'm saying that I could see why he thought that." I frown. "Are you really that opposed to the idea? I mean, I wouldn't want to force you into something you didn't want-"

"It's not that." She looks away. "I don't doubt that I would enjoy it, being here, staying with you but...." She sighs. "It's just not an option. It won't work. I'm not like Rider or Caster, I HAVE to go back. I couldn't even use my wish to stay here if I wanted to squander it like that." She frowns, looking back at me. "I just..... I don't want to do something like that and throw it away. If it can't be for real I'd rather not do it at all."

"..... That's rather bleak."

"Perhaps. But I don't want to do something foolish like fall in love KNOWING it can't work out." She stares at me for a long moment like she wants to say something else, before she suddenly changes the topic.
>>
>>24879064

"By the way, I overheard the most odd conversation earlier."

"Oh?"

"Souichirou asked Caster if she was a princess of some kind. She told him 'yes' rather confused, and he said 'That's probably it then' before walking away. Do you have any idea what that was about?"

>And I'm out. Later, /tg/.

...right, ebook will be updated sometime tomorrow. I knew there was a point I was going to make there.
Polite, but pointless, sage within autosage for posting again.

>Let's not get a sports bike operational for the two servants with excellent riding skills because we're stingy.
>Let's not have a non-NP mount for RIDER
Seriously man? We're in a war for all the marbles and you want to not get the bike operational because you're worried about asking the incredibly rich Einzbern bestsister to loan us some dosh until we can pay her back???

>>24879077
Any rough ballpark idea when the next thread will be?

At this rate, the city will be sucked into a singularity.

>"That's- Listen. You know the sleeping beauty story, right?"

>"Vaguely." He responds. "Something about a needle and a Prince."

>"Yeah. Well apparently Avenger can do curse stuff like I do swords or something, and he basically put that curse on you."

>"..... And I was cured."

>"YES."

>"..... So where did a prince-"

>"Not a Prince, love. Love was the key here." I hesitate. "Though I suppose Caster could also be some sort of Princess or something. I'm not entirely sure who she is."

>Souichiro stares at me, and then back to the TV contemplative. "You think Caster may have developed feelings for me?" He pauses, deep in thought as he watches the news. "Well, it would certainly explain some things. I'll need to look into it."

Does anyone get the feeling he's doing this deliberately troll us?
>>
>>24879139

Shochirouuuuuu....

I think we need to tell caster to just out and tell him herself... goddamnit.
>>
>>24879025
I'm sure Ilya would gladly help us with this. for an undisclosed price to be paid later

So, question.

How was it that Saber stuck around at the end of UBW it was UBW Good End right? The Rin's Harem end? if the prospect of her sticking around is supposedly IMPOSSIBRU, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT MAGIC WAIFU?

Is she just flat out WRONG, and we just haven't figured out IC that she's wrong? Or am I missing something?

She hasn't been overwhelmed by feels yet. If she was Rin we'd have it in the bag but she isn't and we don't.

She has to return to Camlann. So while she can stay here under a contract, she won't grow old because her body is in stasis. And then she'll STILL have to go back there eventually, to die, alone, on a hill.
>>
>>24879172
She didn't get the grail and thus was not forced back to her pwn time to die

Unless whatever plan Merlin is working on comes through, that is.

Not that Merlin is the most reliable co-conspirator, but considering the stakes, odds are pretty good he's not going to be fucking around.
>>
>>24879067
Souichiro-Sensei, you *Stupid* motherfucker.
>>
>>24879172
The whole deal then was if you got enough Sabre points, Sabre would be affected by Shirou's rejection of Archer's fatalism - which she found mirrored in their shared desire to undo their pasts.

In which case, after nuking the Shinjiblob, instead of resigning herself to disappearing and continuing her endless attempts to undo her time as king, she resolved to accept the past, move forward and find a new reason to go on - one not bound to her time as Arturia/Altria or the Grail Quest.

Basically, we need to make her realise she and Archer are doing the same dumb shit and absolutely slap Archer down UBW-affirmation-of-superheroism-style so hard she decides the future is more important than changing the past.
>>
>>24879416
This.

Also let Sakura know that she's really not that much of a slut, and that we really don't mind. Shirou is way more lewd than her.
>>
>>24879416
Ok, thats what I thought. Its not that she CAN'T stay, its that she WON'T stay because she's convinced herself that she doesn't have a choice.
