>Einstein followed as usual, hovering silently. You could check his data at any time: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

The year is 2573, and you've just finished applying for your exosuit license.
You're sitting in the cockpit, next to both Alex and Ellie, who were uncomfortable with the strange squelching noise in the common room, just behind the cockpit. Looking back there, you see Devourer, as a strange, mottled brown-and-black lichen and vines covering half of the inside of your common room. They'd look like plants if they were still, but they weren't- they pulsed, with a slight reddish glow in the center of each vine. Two human-sized biopods sat there, pulsing and making the squelching noises.
"... That's not creepy at all." Ellie said. Her hair was still long, blond, and as shiny as possible. You'd tried braiding it again since you got onto the ship, but it just fell apart again.
"He's saving my parents." Alex said, his arms crossed. He looked back to Devourer again. "I don't care how creepy it is."
"You're right," Ellie nodded, looking out to the front window again, where the green light of a bubble drive shone through. "Where were we going, anyway?"
>>
>>24825094
"Well, we could always try to visit Earth. Or just head back to the station. This trip's been a lot more dangerous than I planned."
>>
>>24825094
"Considering what is going on back there, and what happened at Burer's Glyph, I'm kind of leery of going somewhere public.

Back to the institute. It's safe there and it should give Skerghal time to fix up Alex's parents."
>>
>>24825094
"Told you he was cool now.

...I dunno. Figured we'd go back to the station after almost being mugged by Armatek goons again."
>>
>>24825094

"maybe, it's best if we return to the institute, I'm not feeling all that up to explore the galaxy right now."

<Sir frigate, if you can hear me, i cannot express enough gratitude. Thank you.>
>>
>>24825094
"Are you sure you want to keep hanging with us, Ellie? We've been attacked pretty much every single day."
>>
>>24825094
"Back to the institute. It would be hard to enjoy a trip to Earth right now, and we'd probably just get attacked again."
>>
>>24825094
"I'm tempted to blow up whatever planet ArmaTek uses, to be honest."
>>
First things first- you reach out to the Frigate.
<Sir Frigate, if you can hear me, I cannot express enough gratitude. Thank you.>
<It is no problem, citizen.> The frigate said. <It is my duty. These foes shall never overcome us, of this I am certain.>

"Considering what's going on back there, and what happened at Burer's Glyph, I'm kind of leery of going somewhere public." You say.
"Heh, Leery." Ellie said. "That's your last name."
"Yes, I know." You say. "Let's go back to the institute. It's safe there, and should give Skerghaul-"
<I'm less certain of that name as time goes on.> Devourer said
"-time to fix up Alex's parents." You finish.
"Aw, alright." Ellie said.
"Are you sure you want to keep hanging with us, Ellie? We've been attacked pretty much every single day."
"Then I gotta come with doubly." She said. "No way I'm going to let you guys get hurt. I'm tenacious!"
>>
>>24825216
"Yeah. You and that bat. How about I make you one from any spare hull steel I've got left over?"
>>
>>24825216

"that you are. If it wasn't for you, things would definitely have been much worse" try not to think back at us almost melting Alex

>I think we could use a few more hugs
>>
>>24825216
"The bit where you stopped that shell mid-air was damn cool, Alex."
>>
>>24825234
>Steel
>Not 10 tons of hyper-dense carbon
She'll figure out how to use it somehow.
>>
>>24825216
<We okay to fly? I don't want to disrupt whatever you're doing back there.>
>>
"Yeah. You and that bat. How about I make you one from any spare hull polycarbon I've got left over?"
"I wouldn't even be able to lift one made of a ship hull." She said. "Maybe if you just gave it a hull core or something..."
She shrugged.
"Ooh! You could make me like... a jetpack! Or ion boots! That would be cool." Ellie said, bubbly. "Maybe some polycarbon cable, too. Then I could do my whole freerunning thing and tie things up. I could be like... batwoman!"
"Who?" Alex asked.
"Reeeeeally old cartoons, alex." Ellie said, and rolled her eyes.

"That bit where you stopped that shell mid-air was damn cool, Alex." You say.

"It would've killed me if the gun that fired it wasn't manifested." Alex said. "I think I negated the force put into it."

You pause, and pull him into a hug.
>>
>>24825305
"Boots I can do! I'll make you a pair exactly the same as mine."
>>
>>24825305
How about some kind of exosuit, but not bulky and armoured. Like, compact and mobility enhancing.
>>
>>24825305
"That doesn't change the fact it was damn cool."
>>
>>24825305

"Bob/Sker/mr. pudding, can we activate bubble drive while you do your thing? wiggle a tentacle vertically if yes."
>>
"That doesn't change the fact that it was damn cool." You say.
He nodded. "Yeah, it was, come to think of it."

You turn to Ellie. "Boots I can do! I can make you a pair exactly the same as mine."
"Awesome."
"And how about some kind of exosuit, but not bulky and armored. Like, compact and mobility-enhancing."
"That'd be cool too!" She said. "Maybe build them into the boots proper." She said. "If you can do that?"
>>
>>24825422
"I'll try my hardest! I need to work on my suit as well, though. Gotta make it more awesome now that they've stolen the design."
>>
>>24825422

"it won't be as protective as mine but the mobility would be greatly improved... I can do it, I have the technology."
>>
>>24825422
"Rustle something if it's safe to head off, Devy."
>>
>>24825458
>You're already set off.
>>
>>24825422
"Maybe if I used two-inch decabulators in the auxiliary inverters..."
>>
>>24825467
How did I miss that.

"Yeah! I'll do it! Do you have any ideas how I could make my exosuit better? Literally just spew anything you have at me, and I'll try to build it."
>>
"Yeah! I'll do it! It won't be as protective as mine, but the mobility would be greatly improved..." You say. "Do you have any ideas how I could make *my* exosuit better? Literally just spew everything you have at me, and I'll try to build it."
"... Give it a bubble drive!" Ellie said. "A real one!"
Alex went silent. "You realize that the moment she uses it planetside, it could kill her if she points it downward even a fraction."
"... Yeah, good point." Ellie said, and pouted. "Put more hull steel on it. Make it even *more* like a walking tank! Maybe even so heavy you need treads on the feet. Add a layer of ablative armor on that!"
>>
>>24825551
"All good suggestions, thank you. I might try manifesting fusion rounds when I get the grenade launcher installed, though. That'll be a surprise to anyone expecting normal explosions."
>>
>>24825551
"Maybe even so heavy that it needs TK assistance to move."
>>
>>24825551
"Maybe I could make it *even* stronger if our friend back there can teach me how to make artificial muscles."
>>
>>24825216
Ellie's the spy.
>>
>>24825551

"at this rate i would have to build an actual tank."

she sure knows how to lighten the mood.
>>
the suit did a good job at protecting us, or enough for the other one to call an orbital strike on us.

She wouldn't have bonked the guy in the alley if that was the case.
She might be an *unwitting* informant if she's futuretweeting about us or something like that.

did we ever get started on that paperwork to register our suit and gun?
>>

maybe.
>>
>>24825636
Suit? Yes. Gun? Hahaha.
>>
>>24825636
How can you register a gun that is according to law impossible to build?
>>
>>24825636
They don't have a registry for man portable ship grade weapons.
>>
>>24825677
call it an experimental prototype?
>>
>>24825677
>3d_printing_guns.avi
Gubmint forced defdist to take down their blueprints because they want time to make up laws about it.
>>
>>24825677
>The gun is a legally grey area. It could be considered a laser weapon, or considered a simple ion thruster. The former is illegal in most places, the latter perfectly fine.

"Maybe even so heavy that it needs TK assistance to move." You say.
"That's a bit much. It's not an exosuit, then, it's just a big slab of metal." She said.
"And maybe I could make it *even* stronger if our friend back there can teach me how to make artificial muscles."
"... Why not find a biomedical firm who's willing to sell you that sort of stuff?" Alex asked. "They make cybernetics like that all the time. Cloning hasn't taken over yet. But if I remember right, mechanical bits are better than artificial muscles most of the time. The artificial stuff is just a lot lighter."
>>
>>24825711
"Hmm... Why not both?"
>>
>>24825711
maybe I'll look into the muscle stuff for Ellie's suit.
>>
>>24825711
"Well, I figure if he can make a radio from biological bits, then he can probably figure out how to make muscles that are a lot better than what's on sale."
>>
>>24825711
>not having decent synth muscle
>2573
Biptch please, CryNet got that shit down in 2007
>>
It's not a gun, it's a walking stick.
>>
>>24825711
"We'll see what happens, I guess. I've already got a grenade launcher on order for it, so I don't want to overload it."
>>
>>24825764
It's not a gun, it's an extended range industrial cutting laser.
>>
"Yes, but I'm willing to bet Bob can have the best of both worlds and then some."
>>
>>24825711

"I can use the artificial muscle to enhance my suit AND incorporate it in Ellie's. I'll have to iron out the specifics."

<Einstein, relay a message to the institute: "we are on our way back, complicated things happened, leading to Devourer/Bob now doing his best to save Alex's parents. Will explain further when we get back.">
>>
>>24825780
Extended range industrial ion cutting tool.

Its primary use is slicing asteroids in half. Or exploding them. Either one really.
>>
"Well, I figure that if he can make a radio from biological bits, then he can probably figure out how to make muscles that are a lot better than what's on sale." You say, and turn to Einstein, sending a message to the institute, telling them roughly what went on.
<Not mechanically.> Devourer said. <Organic muscles are good, but require a support system. Construct one, and I can create organic muscles for you.>

You shrug. "We'll see what happens, I guess. I've already got a grenade launcher on order for it, so I don't want to overload it."
"Alright." Ellie said, and sat back, closing her eyes. "That was exhausting."
"Yeah, it was." Alex said. "At least I got all my junk."
He pulled out an old, old drone you'd made for him when you were ten - a dog with three legs, and an old personacom you had bought with your OWN MONEY for a head. He grinned at it. "Remember Gerald?"
>>
>>24825797
'On our way back, ArmaTek happened, Bob's healing Alex's parents.'
That's really all there is to say on the matter.
>>
>>24825823
"Hah! You've still got him! I'd give you the actual robo-dog I made the other day, but he's manifested."
>>

>>
"Hah! You've still got him!" You say, and grin, hugging the dog. <"Aww, hey there, little guy. Remember me?">
<Yep!> It barked, and started to pant. It was simple, and just sat there, tail wagging, panting. It was dim, really dim, almost as if Delta had made it. It squirmed out of your hands into your chest, finding it's way into your shirt, submerged entirely, until it popped its head out. It tilted its head at Alex, and yipped again.
Alex chuckled.
"Why wouldn't I have him?" Alex asked. "I don't remember what happened to his leg, though."
>>
>>24825953
"Do you want a new leg?"
>>
>>24825953

>>

Interesting.

Maybe we should work on combining technopathy, telekinesis and manifestation. If we could reach the same level as Delta, it'd be pretty neat. Perfect for a specialisation, even. More fitting than photokinesis, anyway.

I mean, just imagine. Armatek goon walking along, suddenly ship grade cannons pointed in his/her face.
>>
<"Who's been charging you? Alex has been away for a while!">
<I just took a nap because I missed him.> The dog said.

"The one drone I never finished." You say, unstrap yourself, and spring out of the chair, sending yourself sailing through the common room in zero-G. Devourer moved his loose tendrils out of the way, and you coasted right through into the cargo room. Making your way to your workbench, you pulled it open. Parts stuck to the magnetic platforms on the workbench's back wall, and you got to work with your omnitool.

Not long later, the small dogbot was yipping, walking up the magnetic wall with all four legs, head twisted back to look at you upsidedown. His tail wagged wildly, the force almost pulling him off of the wall.
<Can I show master? Can I can I?> He asked.

<Show him with all the affection you can muster!>
<Alright!> He said- and promptly struggled to get off of the magnetic plating. You pulled him off, and set him down- and he leapt into the cockpit, sailing the same way you did. You follow to find the dog clinging to Alex's shoulder, head down and tail wagging.
"You fixed him!" Alex said, and grinned, patting the dog's head. Ellie was snoring, asleep. You check the time, and it was almost five minutes from the station.

I'm really starting to become curious about how Heather's Technopathy works. It'd be interesting to find out if the affected machines were always self-aware on some level but unable to act on it or if she's essentially Awakening them from nothing but base functional instincts. What happens when Heather's no longer around?
>>
>>24826310
The Machine Spirit Endures.
>>
>>24826310
Well, the frigate is a good example, since if I'm understanding correctly it went out of its way to help Heather out and lock out the Armatek people who tried to use it against us, since it was so flattered that we thanked it.
>>
>>24826310
She's projecting personality on them. It's intentional schizophrenia.
>>
>>24826336
You missed the part where we awaken what's already there
>>
>>24826310
The beast of metal endures longer than the flesh of men. Those that tend the beasts of metal must labour long to learn its ways, for a single beast must suffer the mastership of many men until ready to shed its recabulators. Those that seek apprenticeship must attended closely to the runes of mobilisation, the rites of maintenance, and the words-of-power that describe the parts of a beast. Nor must they neglect the tutelage of the Technopathus Primaris, nor the casting of the proper decabulators.
>>
>>24826310

i think there has always been a sort of dormant 'mind' inside each machine and Heather provides the spark it needs to wake up.

some machines are an exception, like Anna's stuff and Delta's mani-tech.

nothing like an AI
>>
"I didn't fix him, I finished him! Seven years overdue!"
"Hooray!" He said, and chuckled.
You turn to look at Ellie. "It's been a hellish day. I'm not surprised she's tired."
"I'm surprisingly pretty fine." He said. "Though... I did kind of get carried away today."

You suddenly get a flashback of that monster mauling the armatek goon, easily breaking his nose and knocking out his teeth with the monster's bare hands.

"... Y-yeah." You say, and pull out of bubble drive. Your ship shakes, and carefully, you ease it into dock. Ellie opens her eyes, and Alex sat up. The moment the three of you left the ship, you see Max standing there, along with a marine.
"You have that... devourer in there?" Max asked. "And Alex's parents?"
>>
Armatek, well, murdered them. Bob thinks he can fix that. It looks like something out of an old fashioned alien horror show but I think if anyone can do it he can.

Do you think Delta would be able to be bribed to stop working for Armatek? From what I've been told he doesn't paticularily care about them.
>>
>>24826627
<Lightyears away? Man, I have some catching up to do.>

Since we're not allowed to leave until Armatek is dealt with, we might as well go ahead and train.

Good point. Jilly is obviously the traitor, because if it was anyone else she'd have noticed them. She's seducing Alex because he's immune to her powers and every time he lets his shield down for her she builds up her mind control over him and soon she'll force him to disable all the psions on the station while Armatek comes in and cleans up.
>>
>>24826763
Clearly.
>>
>>24826763
Please stop. Even if it is possible that Exabyte has included a traitor, it's pretty out of character for Heather to start accusing her friends.
>>
>>24826763
Somewhat improbable but highly possible.
>>
<Good point, but I thought I'd let you know, just in case.>
<Thank you.> He said. <I'll investigate, just in case, though.>
<Do you think Delta would be able to be bribed to stop working for Armatek? From what I've been told, he doesn't particularly care about them.>
<I don't know what we could bribe him with.> Max said. <The other armatek clones say that he doesn't have anything he wants.>

"I guess that makes sense." You say. "Any idea how long that's going to be? I'd rather not spend the next few years shut up here..."
"Almost a week." Max said. "The meet is rushing things as quickly as they can, but an intergalactic government doesn't work well in a matter of days."
Alex stretched. "I'm starving. How long until dinner?"
"I think it's only a few minutes." Ellie said. "But I want to go say hi to Lin."

let's take our suit back to the workshop, use Technopathy to see if Omni and Anna are linking again, announce our presence if they are.

>>
I have a feeling that if we're not going to ArmaTek then they'll come to us. We should set up a network of surveillance drones that can notify us of any ships exiting bubble drive near the station.
>>
>>24826800
"Next thing you know, Max, they'll be assaulting the station with a battleship."
>>
>>24826882
The station has a whole bunch of weapons platforms around it for surveillance and defence already.
>>
>>24826888
we definately should say this. I bet Delta can build one too.
>>
>>24826899
Good point. In that case, we should tell the station surveillance to inform us every time a ship comes out of bubble drive.
>>
>>24826888
"...Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they did."
What kind of sensors do [military] ships mainly use to detect other ships, besides the Transponder?
>>
we should say fuck it and secretely install a ship scale version of our ion gun. Call it a mining laser.
>>
"Of course you do~..." You tell Ellie, and give her a grin. She giggled, and made her way out of the hangar. Alex followed her, hands in his pockets, as the dog yapped, sitting on the top of his drone.

"Next thing you know, Max, they'll be assaulting the station with a battleship."
"I know." He said. "There's something interesting that happens when you gather all of the smartest polymaths in UPA space, give them near infinite resources, and tell them there's an enemy coming. Something rather interesting."

There was a beat.

"But I'm just a dog, so I don't quite understand what it is."
Then he started to pad his way away.

Screeching out of a rift in the wall, lightning fizzling from her fur, Summer came skidding. "Hey!" She said, rolling to a stop. "Welcome back!" She said, getting to her paws again. "Come on, I can take you to dinner. It's almost effortless now!"
>>
>>24826888
Assaulting this station would be, bar none, the dumbest thing they can do. It's got the highest concentration of ridiculously powerful individuals in the galaxy. They'd need an entire fleet.
>>
>>24826963
I agree. A huge version, barely liftable via exosuit. Wouldn't class as a ship mounted weapon then.

"Feeling better?"
"A lot!" Summer said.
"Has the doc given the okay to pop through walls already?"
"Yeah, she has." Summer said. "Both she *and* theta gave me the okay."
<Have you given Summer the okay to run through walls yet?>
<Yeah, all the damage has been repaired.> Kailynn responded. <It should be okay, but she has to wear a sensor from now on.>

"Alright, make the portal first. I want to dive through it dramatically!"
"Alright!" Summer said.

You reach out to the exosuit, and order it to make its way to the workshop. It came out of the cargo bay to march, and a long, golden line opened up in the wall, cracks growing and swelling until there was a hole in the wall. there was a long, long hallway, and the other end had similarly glistening cracks.
"Just dive in!" She said.

You took a step back... and dove into the rift.

There was no gravity in there. None at all.
However, as you flew... you realized that you were speeding up.
Friction was reversed. your clothes started shaking wildly, and static energy started building within you. You tore out of the other end, skidding across the floor, slowing yourself with TK.

Dust came up behind you, and there you were standing on the table, your boots having scraped scorch marks on the table behind you.

And there you stood, hands on your hips, as Sarvesh and Damien stared- Damien even looked surprised.

And suddenly a tiger landed on you, bowling you over and laying on you.
>>

"WOOSH."

>>
"Summer, you ruined my dramatic pose!" You say.
Summer just giggled, and climbed off of you.
"That was perfect!" you say, and examine your clothes- they were perfectly intact, though a little singed.
"I didn't even see that." Damien said. "Weird. It wasn't even a blurry crossroads or anything."
He chuckled, and shrugged. For a very slight moment, you felt... something strange. As if there was another place layered on this one, a very, very thin veil, just a slight border between the two...
Sarvesh shivered.
"... I'll just go ahead and make something for you two." Sarvesh said. "What would you like?"
"Meat!" Summer said. "Something with a lot of meat."
"And Heather?" He asked, turning to you.
>>
>>24827266
"Chef's special."

"Surprise me!"

<Did you feel that, Sarvesh?> You ask, and he nodded a fraction. <...What was the other place?>
He looked... very pointedly at the giggling, exuberant Summer.
"... Surprise me!"
"Alright." Sarvesh said, and grabbed a large bag of macaroni noodles.
You close your eyes, and focus...

"Ooh, can I see?" Summer asked.
"Sure." Damien said.

And then he showed off. He flicked his wrists, and you saw the painting- it was a painting of Robin hugging an enormous, truly enormous black teddy bear. This painting didn't have any colors at all- just black and white.
"Woah! How can I see this?" Summer asked. "Are you doing that?"

Technokinesis sounds like a fitting specialisation. Especially given that we were fantastically mediocre at photokinesis last time we tried it.

>>
>>24827668
Regardless, continual failure doesn't increase our skill level, and we don't know if it didn't actually reduce our overall skill level.

I just think copying what Delta does would be much more fitting, and we are already really good at two of the major skills which combine to make it up, technopathy and telekinesis. Just need to work on manifestation a bit.
>>
"Keep it simple." You say. "Projection."
"... I can't believe I didn't think of that." He said. "Projection works."
"So instead of bending light, you'll just remove yourself from what they're seeing?"
"Well, that's closer to what I'm used to." He said. "Jason said that from all evidence, we're best at things that are closest to our specializations. So like, Jilly would be better at technopathy, Sarvesh would be good at like... Well... um. I don't know. Being able to see into other dimensions or something."
"Something like that, I guess." Sarvesh said. He seemed thoughtful.
"Ooh, that's interesting. Sarvesh, can you see into my little world?" Summer asked.
"I can feel it. It's very... there."

"It felt... strange." You say.
"You could feel it too?"
"For a little bit."

Damien frowned, and soon enough, Sarvesh came out again, with tuna, cheese, and macoroni for you, a slab of cloned steak for Summer, a bowl of goop for damien, and some centaur cuisine biscuits for himself.
"Here you go." He said, giving everyone their food. He sat down, and started to eat. Anna came in, alone, and gave you a wave, sitting down at the table with the rest of you, unwrapping her rations.

"It was *shit*." You say, and clench your teeth. "The first bit was good, then Armatek had to come ruin another day out. Blasted an exosuit with my ion cannon. How about you?"
"Uh, dad said I can have rations again, the doc was pouting at me as usual." Anna said. "And talked to my therapist. That was about it."
"How did that go?" Sarvesh asked.
"It went fine." She said. "Oh! And I got a friend to get that grenade launcher for you. I wasn't sure what ammunition types you wanted, so I ordered a little bit of everything."

>>
>>24828173
>Heather is anything but subtle.
be we are stubborn and hate to lose. Invisibility is just for the bet with Damien, but if that's all you can think of with control of light then there's a problem.
>>
>>24828207
I'll be old and responsible in a month or so, so you can just hold it until then, right?
>>
<I'll be old and responsible in three months, so you can just hold it until then, right?>
<I could, yeah.> Anna said. <But I'll bring it to the station regardless, just in case.
"Alright, I'll transfer the funds to your account." You say.
"'Kay." She said, and you brought up Einstein to do it.
"So I'm going to try something after this." Summer said. "I wanna see if I can bring slivers of my world into this one. Will it work, Damien?"
Damien shrugged. "I can't see much. I'm kind of wiped out right now. Sorry. I can see that whatever happens, you won't end up in medbay, or dead."
"That's good to hear." Summer said.

"Yeah." He said. "Exhausting to do anything but my precog."
"I'm horribly behind." You say. "Seems like I get tired after only thirty minutes of training. In my defense, I was bending all the wavelengths instead of doing the smart thing and only trying the visible ones."
"So you're going from a physical perspective?" Damien asked. "I was planning on a mental one. Make people think they don't see you, and they won't."
>>
>>24828573
"Ideally if I do mine right, nothing will be capable of seeing me in the first place."
>>
>>24828573
"Yeah. It has more applications that way as well. I can expand it to fit round items if I need to."
>>
>>24828563
Well given that we're still at the "random roll for success" stage, we should try the hardest thing we can. There's no reason not to.

>>24828573
But what if someone's looking at security cameras?
>>
>>24828573
"Yeah, but they could always see you on the recordings, no? Like when Alex uses NEO, he looks normal when looking at the recordings."
>>
>>24828563
Nah, just get the visible wavelength diversion.

Then we can work on technokinesis.
>>
>>24828573
"Mine should work on cameras. And Alex."
>>
>>24828573
Hey, I have an idea for a third way to do it. We use a combination of the Devourer and Summer's tricks: Demanifest our body, but keep our mind self propagating, then when we want to reappear, remanifest ourselves.
>>
>>24828645
But that's
Basically useless.
Infrared, heat, ultraviolet etc. can see us.
And we could protect ourselves from more Gamma Rays if we accidentally Annihilate something again.
>>
>>24828673
Way above our braingrade at the moment.
>>
>>24828673
Isn't that sort of what Robin does?
>>
>>24828673
That's not invisibility. That's being a ghost.
>>
>>24828673
That has the potential to go horribly, fatally wrong.
>>
>>24828721
>>24828713
So... the best idea ever?

>>24828695
Pish.
We won't know until we try.

>>
>>24828741

Bending light is much easier.
>>
"Yeah. It has more applications that way as well. I can expand it to fit around items, if I need to." You say. "And mine should work on cameras. And Alex."
"... Yours would work on Alex, won't it?" He asked, and sighed. "Didn't even think about that."

Sigma came in, and Anna tossed her a ration block. The girl caught it, and took a seat.
"Hey." She said, with a wave, and she started to eat. "Any of you see Robin somewhere near? I want her to take me to Haegost's moon."

I actually really want to test this. Can we just go and find Robin?
>>
"We're not allowed to leave the station until Armatek shuts down." you say. "I just had my second failed kidnapping attack happen."

Sigma was quiet.
"... Any chance you could make me a... ship or something? Something small?" She asked. "Because then I want to help shut them down."

"It's not like they could stop me." Robin said, appearing in a cloud of smoke. "From teleporting around. I've been practicing. My reaction time is so high, I think I could teleport away between the time someone shoots at me, and before the bullet hits me."
>>
>>24828914
"Sigma, I can make you a ship but I don't think that's a good idea. Lets just... let the government do its thing. If they do so in an unsatisfactory manner then we can go vigilante."
>>
>>24828914
"...We could test that, with a BB gun."
>>
>>24828914

"Man, everybody's getting awesome and leaving me behind! I need to ratchet this shit up."

I still say we need to figure out how to make dark particles with manifestation. That 100 on the roll should make it a little easier. Maybe ask Summer to assist.
>>
>>24828914
Point our finger at her <BANG!>
>>
>>24828914
>"... Any chance you could make me a... ship or something? Something small?" She asked. "Because then I want to help shut them down."

"I already asked Max if I could help, but apparently the UPA doesn't want us involved."
>>
>>24828914
"They could just ask Lin to kick you if you try to leave."
"We're not allowed to help shut them down, either. I asked."
>>
>>24828945
For clarity, that's meant to be shouted.
>>
>>24828943
Or technokinesis.
>>
>>24828945
Push her with TK when we do this, so we can judge if she dodges the 'bullet' successfully

Summer? Why not Omni or Devy. Or both.

"Alright, alright." Sigma said. "We can wait. I guess."

Then you meet Robin's eyes, and raise your finger. <BA->
There was a poof, and suddenly you were sitting on a world somewhere, in a restaraunt. You knocked a glass off of a counter across the room, and it fell to the ground and shattered.
<-NG> You continue, to find Robin holding your shoulder from behind.
"Too slow!" She said, and grinned.

"What's the occasion?"

Yeah. If anything happens with Robin it'll be a fling with no real meaning. But hey, that could be fine.
>>
"Good lord, Robin. That's amazing!" You say, and hug her. "Also, oops!"
"It's all part of my transgenes." She said, and sat down in the other seat. "The officials of the station gave me like, all the data Armatek had on me. I didn't know I had superhuman reflexes or whatever until I started focusing on it."
"I really need to practice. Everyone else is racing ahead."
"Well, go on, then. Practice!"

You close your eyes, and hold out a hand, and focus.

A small, shimmering decabulator appeared. Four inches long. The light faded, and you lifted it.
"Oooh, that's almost like how Delta does it!" Robin said, and grinned.

You pay for the glass, and then turn to Robin.
"Is this your way of asking me on a date?"
"What? No!" She asked. "I um. I'm... friends! We're friends. You and I, even."
>>
>>24829136
Going and dating Robin in the meantime would be kind of dickish.

I'n happy for Heather to avoid anything like that entirely until all the Anna shit is sorted out.
>>
>>24829007
"Yo Sigma, if you ever go to Haegost again, can you send a few F-Class drives to here? I need a bunch. For a project."

I would argue that staying faithful to someone who cheated on us and then we broke up with is mentally unhealthy. It certainly isn't dickish to do anything. We're not with her anymore.

I can accept that Heather might not want _anything_ for a while, but it isn't because of loyalty to Anna.
>>
>>24829146
It seems like Robin has succumbed to the inevitable crush on Heather and any fling we have with her will end with hurt feelings on her part.
>>
>>24829161

Two friendship coffees, please!"
>>
>>24829161
"I know, I know. It's just funny seeing you get all flustered.

And I was thinking about that, actually. If I could replicate Delta's power, I mean.
>>
>>24829161
"For a teleporting pervert ninja you're remarkably easy to fluster.

Hmm, I'm going to be whipping up a lightweight exosuitish suit thing for Ellie soon, probably going to collaborate with Bob to put in organic muscle and aiming for a high power to weight ratio and lots of mobility.

Want me to make you one? You're tiny so it shouldn't even take that much material."

So we *are* pretty good at manifestation. We should honestly just go with whatever Delta's power is called, then. Manifestation/Technopathy/Telekinesis combo. Manifest the pieces and then speed assemble them into whatever is needed.

"I never get tired of seeing you get flustered." You say, and giggle. "So where are we, anyway?"
"Good old Terra, Sol system." She said. "Earth."
And she frowned to herself, crossing her arms for a moment. The waitress came by, and you ordered two 'friendship coffees'.

"And um." She said, quietly. She seemed to be struggling with something.

"Can we kidnap Delta?" You ask. "I mean, you jump in, grab him, bring him back to the station and then we knock him out. Or put Alex nearby."
"We could, I guess." She said, arms still crossed. "Wouldn't be hard. We'd just need to prepare Alex, and I'd need to know where he'll be. I don't want to accidentally teleport something inside of Alex and kill him."

And you missed 44.

"It'd take a bit of prepwork, but probably be worth it.

Him and Sigma are the only ones that can make it so I can't Technopath something, and I suppose AIs, that was rather inconvenient earlier today. An exosuit made by him just said 'NO!' to me. It wasn't very polite, it didn't have a true machine spirit."

>>24829296
"Earth? We should probably go back. I don't think this is a good place to be. ArmaTek came after me whilst I was here."

"It'd take a little bit of prepwork, but probably be worth it." You say. The coffees arrive, and Robin took a sip.
"Something on your mind, Robin?"
"I don't like you." She said. "I- I mean, I do, just... just not that way. You're pretty and all, and I know you've been, um, crushing on me, b-but I didn't want to... and theta's been giving you the wrong idea, and..."

Sip friendship coffee. "So, want to hang around here for a bit and TK grope passing hot people?"
>>
>>24829418
"Wait, I thought you were crushing on me and are absurdly easy to fluster.

We should try combining Clairvoyance with TK at some point. Using knowledge of placement of things via CV to manipulate them with TK despite them being inside of other things.

"... Wait, what?" You asked.
Then you started giggling.
"I thought you were crushing on me."
"B-but I didn't... I didn't do much of anything with TK on you. I- I thought that would've been enough to show that I didn't feel anything, but then you were making a big deal about how I wasn't, and so I thought you were *jealous*, and then the catnip thing..."
"N-no, that's not it at all." You say. "I think we can both agree that we weren't in our right minds during the whole catnip thing."
"... I..." She said. "I was in mostly a right mind. I thought that I'd try... but it doesn't matter anyway."
She sipped at her coffee again, and you checked them for sedatives. Luckily, you didn't seem to find anything.

"So, who are you interested in?" You ask.
"Nobody." She responded. "I'm not interested in anybody."
She sipped at her coffee again. "Not since Armatek killed the other Rhos, at least."

Black smoke melted away from the cup, and when she set it down, there was a blackened handprint, dug into the plastic.

Not really, Damien has pointed out the serious danger of him disappearing forever while attempting to mess with the past, and that's a lot further back and more complicated to get around than the other trips he's made.

"There must be some other Rhos still alive. They can't have killed them all. Surely someone else got some sort of power and escaped..."
"We all had implants." She said. More smoke curled from her seat, and she sunk a half inch. "To incapacitate us. It's in the data. One-use sedatives, RFID chip, small explosive if we escape. One day, after I teleported, they... used them all, I lost consciousness, woke up without the implant."

You hold her hand- and hissed when you lost a layer of your skin, as it turned into more black smoke.

Rho was staring a hole into that cup. She shook her head, and gave you a smile. "Sorry. Anyway. That was like ancient history. Let's talk about something els-"

You pull her into a tight, tight hug. This time, you didn't lose anything. She froze up, and then returned your hug. After you pull away, you sit back down. "So, want to hang around here for a bit and TK grope passing hot people?"
"Sure!" She said, still smiling.
And that's when, for a fraction of a moment, you saw Lin walk through the crowd.

Look on the bright side, thanks to that incident you can refer to it as your "death pool" when you have company over.

They'll be so jealous, I bet they don't have a death pool.
