Hey look! It's VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!

Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Valkyrian%20Mercs%20Quest
Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/y5vehknA

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You've arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, which you repaired and rechristened the Vergeltung.

After rooting out more Imperial spies, you were sent out with the Vergeltung to investigate a possible staging point for Imperial infiltrators, only to find that it was a staging point for the entire Imperial invasion fleet. Thinking quickly, you came up with a daring (and crazy) plan to sink the Imperial flagship, the Lion of the Empire, which you somehow managed to pull off.

However, despite their loss, the Imperials have pressed ahead with the invasion anyways. While defending the beaches, you've inflicted massive losses on the attacking Imps. You then drew the attention of their Commander, Sir Fleisher the Red Swallow. Playing to his pride and honor, you convinced him engage in a duel, which you managed to barely win. Defeated, Sir Fleisher agreed to pull back his forces, essentially ending the Empire's plans to invade Albion. After a pretty raucous victory party, you've been summoned by Lynch.

You sigh as you read the note. You were sort of expecting this to happen ever since you blew him off the other day, but that still doesn't mean you're looking forward to it.

For once, you actually wake up rather late in the morning, so you assume that the rest of your squad is awake, in some form or another. Maybe you'd like to take a couple of them along? Just in case?

You got something against Ramirez? Haven't you ever wanted to hear "Ramirez handle the situation diplomatically!"?
>>
>>24794626
Five minutes later, half of Albion is on fire. Ramirez starts writing apology letters.
>>
>>24794626
Sure, when I wanted a brawl....
>>
>>24794234
You suppose you can stay consistent and roll with Sam and Tarin again. You're pretty sure between all three of you, you'd be able to deal with any curveballs Lynch might try to throw at you.

You find Sam where she usually is, in her "office" managing unit rosters and paperwork. It seems like the more assets you've been adding to the Demons, the more work she seems to get. However, she doesn't really seem to mind.

"Oh, hey Cap." Sam looks up from her desk. "Whatcha up to? Just gotta forge your signature on a few more papers..."

"Nothing incriminating, I hope." You grin.

"Nah, just clearing up some red tape." Sam shrugs. "What do you need?"

"Well, you see, I've got a meeting with Lynch..."

"...and you want me there to back you up in case things go south... again." Sam finishes for you. "Yeah sure I could help out."

You don't even need to go find Tarin to ask her. She's already waiting outside the door. Honestly you're not even surprised at this anymore.

"It's that time again, huh?" She asks.

"Yep. Hopefully this is the last time I've got to deal with him in person."

"We can only hope."

By this point, you can find Lynch's headquarters pretty much by heart. You let yourself in, with nobody paying you any attention. As far as the AIS was concerned, the war was still on, so they still had plenty of work ahead of them.

The same guard as last time is standing guard in front of Lynch's office. He gives you and Tarin a rather scary glare, but you respond with your own deathglare, almost daring him to start something. Deciding this wasn't a fight he could win, the guard steps aside and lets you pass, his scowl still evident on his face.

Lynch's office is still the same as before, barebones and spartan. Lynch still looks mostly the same, though you can tell he's a bit less than pleased.

"You disappoint me, Captain Sturmfuhrer." Lynch says simply. "I was under the impression you would do anything to win this war."

>What say?
>>
>>24794626
But, this Ramirez is a career soldier. His "diplomatic solution" probably involves "not" killing the other guy.
>>
>>24794662
The letters explode upon opening. It would appear that his fingers have remnants of explosives.
>>
>>24794680
"I'm pretty sure I did. With minimal bloodshed, might I remind you."
>>
>>24794680
"Winning this war coincides with my interests. It would appear you assumed otherwise."

This is all about that vengeance.
>>
>>24794680

" Why the hell should I care if you are vaguely disappointed? My job is to keep Albion safe from the Imps, last I checked, the only reasons Sir Fleisher isn't picking his teeth with your bones are my men and I.
>>
>>24794680
"Disapointed? That's odd. Doesn't having a round of fisticuffs between men not count as 'anything'?

Besides, didn't my way save many others lives? Hrrmm?"
>>
>>24794680
"My goal at the time was to prevent the invasion of Albion. I believe I accomplished that quite handily. I know this because Albion doesn't have Imperials marching through its cities right now.

Now I could have kept Fleisher as a prisoner for you, and that would have had its advantages.

However without the Red Swallow with them I believed many Imperials would have stood and fought instead of retreating. This would have led to us losing many more troops and quite possibly with them breaking through our lines in the places that I wasn't and doing serious damage to Albion in one way or another whether it be Albion's manufacturing, morale, or the number of men available to fight.

You were horrendously unprepared for the invasion, I just gave you time to build up and actually attack."
>>
>>24794820
Damn is that one thorough telling off.
>>
>>24794680
>"I was under the impression you would do anything to win this war."
"Lynch, exactly how much do you know about the Belkan knights? Not about their victories or their names. I mean how they're selected, how they're raised. The training that every soldier who wants to someday become a knight volunteers for--that's all of them by the way--and the vetting that each prospect undergoes before their name is even put forward for a position in the lowest tank crew. Add that to their delightfully old-fashioned notions of honor and duty and you get a corps of soldiers who would bite off their own tongue before talking under any form of duress you could devise.

"So yes, I would do anything to end this war, but my information was better than yours."
>>
>>24794820
I like this it tells him off thoroughly while still being somewhat polite to the guy signing our checks.
>>
>>24794680

>>24794820
This one.
>>
>>24794680
"And I have."
"Perhaps you were expecting me to keep the knight prisoner and let you have that feather in your cap, but I am a tactician, a leader of men, not a career bureaucrat. It is plain to see from the results of battle that the soldiers of the Empire had utter faith in the leadership of Fleischer and many would have ignored the results of the duel to rescue him. We would not have held that beach if that happened."
>>
>>24794820
>>24794888

I think you guys have forgotten how the Imps ran with the tails between their legs the second Fleischer fell down.
>>
>>24794820
This
>>
>>24794905
That was the deal we had with him. Our troops would have had to do the same if we had lost.
>>
>>24794905

>>
>>24794950
Shhhhh. No one must know that you were joking. Ever.
>>
>>24794905
The ones on our front left after we beat up Fleisher, but we had no way of knowing if the ones on the other two fronts would just retreat happily without the Red Swallow telling them to retreat.
>>
I wonder how much imperial weapons, gear and ammo we salvaged...
>>
>>24795087
Probably whatever the dead had on them.
Personally, I think we should arrange for the bodies to be returned to the Empire for proper funerals. If that's not feasible, make sure they receive proper military funerals here in Albion. If we wanna subvert the entire nation of Belka, we gotta be honorable as fuck, and proper due to the dead is both honorable and easy.
>>
>>24795087
It was a retreat not a rout. They probably left destroyed or compromised equipment and picked up the wounded and those of the dead they could identify. I wouldn't bet that there's a massive amount of equipment to be had.

>>24794935
>>24794911
...Aren't you referring to the same post?
>>
>>24795194
What?
>>
>>24795169
oh ya send the body's back with personal belongs
>>
Fairly easy to just mention that letting him go will have in the long term effects on both Imperial morale. It sends a message back after the destruction of the lion that Albion has its shit together far better then it actually does if they can afford to just let him go. Makes imps more willing to surrender to him if they think they will be treated well. It was a battle field judgement call for the long term.
>>
>>24795194
Spiral and Spectral are 2 different namefags.
>>
>>24795194
They're different people, they just both have names that start with S and are two words.
>>
>>24795211
Probably misread the names.
>>
>>24794680
"My goal at the time was to prevent the invasion of Albion. I believe I accomplished that quite handily. I know this because Albion doesn't have Imperials marching through its cities right now.

You finally stop to take a breath after that long winded speech. Sam and Tarin seem to be shocked that you've gone on such a long winded speech which was basically a fancy way of telling Lynch to sod off.

To his credit, Lynch seems to take it pretty well. He just sits there silently as you talk.

"You realize, Captain, that under the Federation Unified Military Code, which you are subject to under the terms of your contract, the unauthorized release of a prisoner of war can be considered treason." Lynch says calmly.

You turn to Sam to check if he's just bullshitting you. However, the nervous look on her face suggest it is most definitely not.

"But, after that little show you put up there, I can't very well have you sent off to the firing squad." Lynch shakes his head. "I'm afraid this is the end of our arrangement. Albion is safe and we no longer require your services. I do hope you'll have more success in your future ventures."

---

"Well, I guess that could've gone better." Sam says as you walk out of the office.

"Not really. He was actually fighting the urge to throttle the Captain during that whole meeting." Tarin points out.

"Fifty fifty." Tarin responds.

"Good to know."

"I guess we'd better get ready to go, huh?" Sam says. "We got a lot to pack."

"Wait..." You stop. "What'll happen to the Vergeltung?"

"Technically, even though Vergeltung's lease was handled by the AIS, the actual leaseholder is the Navy. I don't think they'll have any problems keeping that arrangement in place." Sam reassures you.

"Okay...."

"There's still Lieutenant Parker." Tarin points out.

"We need to talk to Elizabeth, find out where she stands on this." You say. Both Sam and Tarin nod in agreement.

It's not hard to find her. She's back in the hotel lobby, reading the exact same book she was last time you visited her there.

"So... guess you're not in Lynch's good graces anymore, huh?" She says, not looking up from the book. "Now's going to be that awkward part where you question my loyalty and all, except there's going to be that whole fallacy in play where you'll assume I'm lying no matter what I say because that's what I'm supposed to do. So I'm just going to simplify this whole ordeal. Do you want me to stay or not?"

"Miss Parker, I would like you to stay, if you're willing to. But I understand that won't be easy for you, seeing how you're sworn to defend Queen and Country. So I want you to ask yourself, can you put the good of the company ahead of the good of Albion? If we're lucky, it'll never come to that, but I'm not going to get my people killed unless we're getting paid for it."
Turn that around on her.

If she's going to report back to Lynch it doesn't matter if we ask her not to, she can do it under our nose if need be, and if she isn't going to do it then there is no point in asking.

It doesn't really accomplish anything.

>>
>>24795972
Having all your fingers in a fixed position isn't going to make using a gun very easy.
>>
>>24795898
She's turned this into a yes or no decision. Either we admit we find her a valuable asset that we want to keep and to a certain extent even trust her or we admit the opposite. Either way she gets an idea of what we think of her and we don't get any idea of what she thinks of us.

If we turn it around and make it her decision that changes that.
>>
Hell personally I would just say she can send anything but stuff about us back. No real reason to withhold info on the Imperial movements we see because we hate the Imps anyway. We really just don't want private info sent back.
>>
>>24795821
"I'd like you to stay, I really do." You say. "You bring some useful skills to the Demons. But I need you guarantee that you won't stab us in the back just because Lynch tells you to. I don't care if you have to ignore his orders, or just quit AIS entirely. If you feel you have to turn on us, I want it to be over your own conscience, not somebody else's."

Elizabeth stays quite for a second.

She knows we know about her. We can only feed her false info if she doesn't know she's been compromised, she's only going to send information she can independently verify.

Honestly, for a merc commander? Safest thing for us to do is claim we trust her and then arrange for her to die in combat immediately, even if we have to do it ourselves.
>>

So you're saying that if she betrays us we should force her to walk the...plank?

"Okay, I guess we can work with that." Elizabeth sighs. "Look, just to put this forward, I can't just 'cut ties' with Lynch or the AIS. Spy goes rogue, and joins up with some random mercs. You realize how bad that makes everybody look? The best I can do is give Lynch just enough intel to keep him satisfied. As long as he gets something out of it, he won't complain."

You nod. It makes sense from what you've seen of the man.

"Okay, but understand this. If I have ANY reason to suspect you're going to go against us, you're out of the Demons, one way or another."

"Roger that."

Well, that was a lot easier than you thought. Still, you make it a point to keep a little closer eye on her in the future.

"I guess that's one knife in the back dodged." Sam whistles.

"Tarin?, your opinion?"

"She's being truthful as far as I can tell." She shrugs.

He is a sneaky bastard sometimes as shown by him liking to sneak attack, Thinking to insult someones honor to take them off their game. Willing to do insane risks like the lion battle. >>
>>24796552
We can't do that. If that was what we we were going to do then we should have not brought her at all.

She agreed to come with us and to keep Lynch out of the loop as best she can. We start giving her scraps and mistrust her and she's going to reassess her decision.

We've convinced her partially. Now we treat her like the family we treat the rest of the team is and convince her the whole way.
>>
>>24796570

>>

This. To do otherwise is suicide without a nation defending you. You don't just cut ties unless you have a death wish because spy networks betraying get hunted down. Even today.

>>24796517
She lacks the reason to do this to begin with. The demons isn't her foe the imperials are. Doing that would be stupid especially with us giving her easier movement.

>>24796552
Agreed here actually no need to push our luck. We really don't have any info though that is important at all. Because we are mercs we don't have any state secrets or anything.
>>
>>24796609

As long as she is reporting on us, and she is, this is wise.

>>24796609
That's sorta dumb. If we do that, we shouldn't have brought her with us in the first place. Having a spy with you is always a risk, both for the enemy and for us. Besides, Lynch wouldn't gain anything if he antagonizes us. What's in it for him? Unless we suddenly start going imp, we're fine.

MISSION 4 COMPLETE

REWARD: 3000 credits

"You know..." you frown, looking at the payment receipt, "for saving an entire country, this is a pretty paltry payment."

"Ah, Lynch's vengeance strikes." Sam shakes her head.

"All the more reason for us to get out of here." You sigh.

When you approach Qyburn's warehouse, you notice something is a bit different. It seems a bit... quieter. Wondering what's changed, you enter the warehouse to see everything has been packed in crates, ready to be shipped out.

"Ah! Captain Sturmfuhrer, I thought you would be stopping in today!" Qyburn waddles out form behind a particularly large crate. "I tried to catch you during the celebrations last night, but it seems it wasn't meant to be."

"Qyburn, what the hell happened to this place?" You ask, motioning to all the crates. "I've never seen the place so... tidy.

"Oh yes, quite tragic." Qyburn says, not looking sad at all. "With the immediate threat to their shores over, the Albion government has seen fit to let my contract expire. It seems they want to divert funds to more 'conventional' projects."

"That's terrible!" Sam gasps."What are you gonna do?"

"Oh, it's a regular thing for Darcsens like us." Qyburn laughs lightly, giving Tarin a sly wink. "Always on the move when our usefulness is done."

"So where are you going from here?" You ask.

"Oh, I suppose I'll just follow you wherever you go. You certainly don't have any shortage of excitement." Qyburn laughs. "Either way, your unit is the perfect testing ground for my new inventions!"

"I'm glad to be of service." You laugh awkwardly.

"Now come, come!" Qyburn waves you over. "I managed to finish a few things before we got the order to pack!"

"We also got some new requisition forms." Sam adds in. "You can take a look at those as well."

Kirei, i just feel that your paranioa over Parker is a little, hamfisted. Your reactions the the development that we did during a side quest, via player action, was, We cant trust her, Shoot her in the head asap.
She was effected hard by the kill, who wouldnt, she was trained, and prepared to kill, but it's still rough. She's Human, and it showed. I'd rather we work with someone who could cry after fooling someone with a honey pot.

Not to mention, if Jager ever learned about the tale from he, he'd very likely understand Completely.
Karla aside, he was a very influencial noble in a powerful house. If his family didnt warn him of sly woman using their charms on him for gain they didnt do a good job raising him. That in turn is the inverse, a noble is also taught to strive towards that gain through their own seduction and persuasion. Its underhanded, but, Understandable.

Regardless, she hasnt given us much to trust her, But, her background can only benefit us. Why would Jager want to tell her about Karla? So, he can learn more about what happened. She could possibly find some of his family if any made their escape, or, find Imperials who took part in the attack, who we could track down and ambush.

And Parker knows just how to interrogate. Afraid of the spy? Maybe be a little Afraid of Tarin, the woman who kills without batting an eyelash. We do seem to be slowly seducing her by accident, so less cause for concern there.

GEAR:

Gallian-A Rifle - 1000
Modified with a water cooling jacket, the Gallian-A is quite a bit heavier than the standard Gallian-1, but allows for a much faster firing rate.

Gallian-S - 1000
A rifle with an extended barrel, increasing accuracy and range.

Theimer Anti-tank Lance - 1000
A lance specialized to take down armor. Improved accuracy and armor penetration, but incompatible with frag rounds.

Mags M10 - 1000
The addition of a water cooled barrel to this SMG vastly improves fire rate and stopping power.

Antipersonnel Mine - 1000
A simple mine that can be planted anywhere to act as a booby trap.

Mortar Team - UPKEEP: 300
Mercenaries armed with a trio of 60mm mortars that can provide long range fire support.

Howitzer Team - UPKEEP: 600
Mercenaries armed with a 105mm howitzer that can provide long range fire support.

R&D

Spiderweave Armor (PROTOTYPE) - 1200
Constructed out artificial fibers several times stronger than steel, this cloth armor provides superior protection to standard Scout armor with no additional weight.

Starlight Scope (PROTOTYPE) - 1000
An experimental scope that can be fitted on any sniper rifle. Has an alternate setting that can be used to improve night vision, though picture quality is still rather poor.

Trauma Plates - 1500
Lightweight ceramic armor that can be added on to existing body armor, increasing protection with minimal change in weight.

88mm Cannon - 2000
Reverse engineered from the Red Swallow's personal tank, the 88mm cannon can destroy any medium or light tank, and make even heavy tanks fear its firepower.

Have at it, guys. You have 2640 credits in the bank.

>>
>>24797744
I'll go with this.
We already have a pretty decent medium tank, an already special prototype thats also been touched up by Q. Upgrading it's cannon can wait a bit, best protect the entire team with trama plates. and a Mortar team of what, Six new Mercs? Considering two mercs per mortar setup that is.
>>
>88mm Cannon - 2000
POP POP POP WATCHING IMPERIALS DROP
>Mortar Team - UPKEEP: 300

Getting that cannon will also upgrade our sub with one helluva deck gun! And for the remainder we could definitely use a mortar team. All of the other upgrades are super nice but they can wait. The howitzer is a bit overkill (for now) considering the usual size of our operations.
>>
>>24797698

>>
Question, Commander! Does the armor upgrade only apply to Scouts or is it teamwide? I ask because I just started playing VC2 again (sue me I have a commute) and I recall that armors are shared across certain unit branches.
>>
ACHT ACHT UND MORSER TEAM

Between Sam and Julia our AT capabilities are quite thin.
We don't need a howie since we're quite a mobile team, mortars are far more suited to our needs since we're closer to mech infantry, role wise than straight infantry which howitzers can expect to provide good support for. Besides High Angle fire = lob over cover = good for clearing out baddies

Unless ofc those howitzers are fucking 25 pounders.
>>
>>24797853
Range, power, and portability
>>
>>24797858
OP has stated all upgrades are teamwide unless otherwise stated.

Also, pretty sure he mentioned that we are having no VC2.
>>
We also already bought the advanced steel alloy for our tank. So durability wise we are decent right now on durability.

Next pay day we should try and get Trauma Plates, Howtzer team, Mags, and scope I'm thinking.

>>
Keeping our mobility up might be a bit harder with the mortars, but I suppose we could add a bustle rack to our tank that could carry the mortars around (but not the ammo).

Also we should ask Q about possible torpedo upgrades. Floating torpedoes for shallow water would allow us to hit anything in water 3 feet deep.
>>
>>24797929
No smokes for mortars... yet. Smoke rounds are a relatively new development in VC. They just have the standard explodey ammo right now.

Depends on the size of the mortars I guess. Back in WW2 they used to have tiny light mortar tubes the size of a tall water bottle. They were so small that the user had to judge the angle by eye. Super portable though!

They just get bigger and bigger from there, but if you split the weight among 3 soldiers the selection of man-portable sizes is pretty big.

CODEX ENTRY UNLOCKED

Gallian Tank Destroyer: Originally designed to counter Imperial heavy armor, the Gallian Tank Destroyer was intended to be a small, fast mobile gun that could quickly flank Imperial armor formations, as well as ambush from areas typically unsuitable for heavy anti-tank guns. However, the end of EWI meant it never managed to reach full production. A few hundred are believed to still exist.

>Theoretically possible, though since the GDT never went into full production they never really put any resources into its gun development. It's currently stuck with the 75mm it currently has.

So if we put some R&D on it... sometime down the line we can? Because I really like the idea of having an assault gun when we need it.

"So, where are we headed to next?" You ask Sam as you exit Qyburn's soon-to-be former warehourse.

"Actually, Qyburn got it right. Honestly that guy's way too smart for his own good." Sam frowns. "Ustio's defense lines are on the verge of breaking and the Federation isn't really committing any reinforcements there. They're paying out the nose for experienced troops."

"Well then what are we waiting for?" You say, grinning. "Ustio, here we come."

---

"How's Detlef doing?"

"Physically, Sir Fleisher is fine, but... I can't quite describe it, but something about him has changed. He's just not quite the same man he used to be."

"Unacceptable. Find out what is wrong with him and fix it."

"And what of this Jager Sturmfuhrer he spoke of?"

"I'm not sure why you've taken such a personal interest in him, Milady, but reports suggest he's heading for Ustio next."

"Send Dmitri there, then. We'll test this Jager's determination."

"It will be done, Milady."

>And that's it for the story part tonight! We'll be back Wednesday 6-7pm for another side chapter!

>>
>>24799177
No experience or anything for that last mission with which to level characters up?
>>
>>24799259
Do we really need a Lancer right now? We have the Fenrir with the new 88. Between it, Sam, and the new TD, we're expecting many burning imp tanks everywhere. And I don't think the imps will commit that many tanks to stop a merc company in the first place. Unless Karlaaaaaa starts getting impatient. I say we get another shocktrooper. Or a sniper. Or probably another engi, since we added another vehicle to our forces.
>>
>>24799322
With the invention of Ragnaids, combat medics are pretty much a thing of the past. Medics have mostly been relegated to casualty evacuation rather than treatment.
>>
>>24799339
I actually forgot about that. I'll take care of it next thread. Character voting is probably going to continue on into the next thread, too, to make it fair for those who went to sleep already.

1. Berry Sunshine

2. Female

3. >SOLDIER: You fight for your men. Complete the mission with minimal casualties on your side.

4: >WAR VETERAN: You've fought in both Europan Wars.

5. >CAREER: You don't know how to do anything else.

6. >ENGINEER: A support class with a wide array of skills.

There are people that can kill, and then there are people like Berry. Capable of disarming a bomb and using the same wires to patch a wounded comrade, she was always sent in ahead of main forces to prepare the way. While she is a capable shot, she relied on others to help her complete the missions, many of which helped save the lives of countless soldiers.

Bringing her back up since I liked the idea, not mine.

>BRIEF BACKGROUND
Kellam, born in northern Gallia, spent most a lot of his earlier years tinkering around with anything he can get his hands on, slowly working his way up to bigger things till he was working on military vehicles and supplies.

Due to his nature, it was often forgotten he even worked at the base, even though it was him almost everyday in and out that kept everything in line. There was even a rumor while he was there some ghost that was restocking the reserves or seemingly making scrapes and dents disappear from vehicles every night (it was all Kellam though). It wasn't long after the rumors came up that he was fired for 'not pulling his weight', as his commanding officer had put it.

Deciding it wasn't worth arguing with the officer again, he sought out new employment elsewhere.

BRIEF BACKGROUND
Ymir's father was a survivor of a Belkan House annihilated during the Empire's conquest of the country. Taking refuge in Galia, he grew to adulthood and married a minor noble's daughter. Ymir was born, and was raised in a Belkan fashion, taught to value honor and bravery. Though he tried to enlist in the Galian/Empire war, he was deemed to young to be allowed into the Regulars, and his father refused to send him to the Militia, who were treated oft as little more then fodder.
Ymir continued to train diligently, opting to take the lance as his preferred weapon, with the image of the knights of old. He modifies his lances, affixing a blade along its side to allow it to better serve in melee.

Do you know much about fanfiction? A quick rule for telling good stuff from shit that you get one crossover if it's a small crossover and if the two franchises share thematic elements. This quest's cross is Ace Combat, and no actual characters from AC have shown up. This is good, and it works because AC's setting is similar enough to VC's that the elements we're referencing (Belka) fit into Europa without much rewriting.

Nanoha in this would be a great example of a bad crossover. She is from a setting with completely different philosophy behind its creation, and the themes her franchise represents--magical girls and lesbianism--are nothing like those in Valkyria Chronicles unless VC4 goes horribly wrong. Nor would her presence be a small reference either, she's either the magical girl herself in which case she's going to be horribly out of place, or she's a completely different character from this setting, in which case what is she doing out of the Japan equivalent?

See >>24800060 for doing a reference right; a new character with an image that instantly brings to mind character tropes associated with the source character.

Speaking of which, well done 24800060. You've got my vote.

Okay yeah, you're right, there are three. My mistake. However, Subaru's gayness more than makes up for Caro's lack thereof.

Using Nanoha's image for a character is is one thing. Not terribly creative (completely different setting, and Nanoha is anything but mercenary/tanker), but ok I guess.

Using her exact name and not even TRYING to change it or scramble it is another. That's just bad.

I'd recommend changing the name, doing away with the Nanoha image reference, and just make a nice original-ish character, like several others have.

Yeah, I can tolerate ripoffs/ports of existing characters, but 1:1 copypastes really push it.

>Name: Alessio De Luca
>Gender: Male
>Class: Engineer
>Personality: Soldier. Pyromaniac, wants to shoot fire at everything. Enough enthusiasm to generate its' own gravity well. Suffers from tunnel vision when confronted with an engineering problem, to the detriment of his ability to not get shot.
>Brief background: Darcsen Osean reservist who was denied reenlistment and incentivized to do industrial work. Concluded 'fuck that noise' and emigrated to Ustio, currently seeking employment as mercenary.

Alright, I'm done arguing, if people don't like it, people don't like it. And I could see your point.

So I'll try again.

>>NAME
Isolde Reinhardt
>>GENDER
Female
>>CLASS
Lancer of Tanker
>>PERSONALITY
Stoic and devoted to her knightly code of honour, Isolde nevertheless is deeply loyal to her comrades. She is also extremely embittered over her current situation, especially against the noble responsible for her charges of treason.
>>BRIEF BACKGROUND
Born into a long line of Belkan knights and a highly decorated veteran of the first Europan War (though many have commented that she doesn't look it), Isolde's rise to the top was meteoric, and it was rumored that she would soon earn the title of Grandmaster of the Order, something few females have ever achieved.

Her promising career was abruptly cut short when she slew the son of a prominent Imperial noble in a duel over a serious disagreement on prisoner treatment. The erstwhile noble's father, a confidant of the king, enraged over his son's death had her charged with treason, forcing her to flee to Gallia. Bitter and set on revenge, she took up arms against the nation she would've once given her life to serve.

Fuck, make that Lancer OR Tanker.
>>
>>24802015
Much improved, except for the part where we've already got an EW1 vet who doesn't look her age driving the tank we've already got. Still. HUGE improvement.

>Lancer of Tanker
...D rank luck?

decent enough, but I think it comes too close to the backstories/roles of two well established characters
