They reveal themselves however, when they ambush a squad of 3 ships, destroying one before anyone can react. Your doombots quickly compensate, however, and manage to hit the shield generator with one well placed blast. Seconding these. Especially getting the head of SWORD in our office for a proper dressing down. Doom is willing to tolerate a little bit of human error. A single radar operator playing solitaire, two security guards talking about 'the big game' or whatever peasants talk about. But this is a MAJOR breach and the head of SWORD erred, grievously, when she gave her word that there were objectively zero extraterrestrial vessels in this star system. Since there are so few surviving WW2 veterans left, we want him to speak to a high school class about his experiences in the war. Once he's here, we can use the same educational time-machine trick we've talked about before to show him the end of the war, project paperclip, and any other events of historical importance he may not have learned about. America's concentration camps for the japanese, maybe? Or McCarthy's Red Scare? Or maybe the Los Angeles race riots? There are a lot of things the history books don't talk about, and I doubt Fury will give him straight answers. I say we give him access to a time window, then when he's done ask him if we are really a worse ruler than America's political families.

Also, we owe him a great debt for his service in WW2. We use our time machine to collect all the old members of the units he fought with who survived the war, and have a veteran's party before returning them to their rightful place in time. A final chance to speak to heroes of the past, before getting on with the work of the present.

Also, see if we can pull navigation and astrogation data from the ship's computer. IF it has accurate charts of other star systems, we can use that to target our DoomDoors across the galaxy. But the portals do open possibiliies to us. Think we could get Mole Man to work for us setting up geothermal power plants on Earth and Mars? Combined with the mercury-orbitting solar collection rigs we talked about, we could have a lot of spare energy to sell/trade to the rest of the world. And we can just run a cable through a portal to transmit it millions of miles.

We have the roots of an impressive empire, but we need to lay a lot more ground work. We need at least 50% of earth's civilized nations backing us, plus we'll need a sizable stable of supers, both hero and villain, to hold off those who would blindly trust the word of Richards, because if we handle them ourselves they'll paint us as the bad guy again.

We also need recognition and non-aggression pacts with at least two major interstellar powers. I'd suggest Xandar and the Nova Corps if they're still around (has annihalation wave happened yet? Thanos Imperitive?), the Shi'Ar (traditionally somewhat good relations with humans, and they tend to act as a stabilizing influence compared to other aliens in the setting), and Kymellians (known for beig fairly peaceful, powerful, and fairly generous). Maybe the Centurii. Definitely the Inhumans, especially if they're made contact with the other races of Universal Inhumans. If the Inhumans go on to conquer the Kree in this timeline too, we definitely want them as allies.

Doom is better than Reed, this is simple fact. However, Doom has come off worse on the whole than this simple fact would suggest.

Now, we aren't stupid, so the answer is obvious: It's not a problem of Doom vs. Reed. It's a question of Doom vs. The FF or Doom vs. The Avengers.

It's hard enough trying to carry the weight of the world when your peers spend their time trying to kick your legs from underneath you. So Doom is going to do something about that, which will greatly improve our long term endeavors.

We're going to tell him exactly that, word for word. Here's why:

It's important to note that this is public: it lets us show the world that even the most apparently vile men aren't beyond help/not everyone is as evil as they seem (leave the obvious comparison to ourselves unspoken), the goodwill from helping them will keep them loyal to us (publicly), it would inspire many disenfranchised to flock to us for a fresh start (boosting our PR and letting us expand our colonies) and would TERRIFY THE SHIT OUT OF REED AND HIS ALLIES.
