=====

You are Harry James Potter, and you learned three months ago that you are a magus. You've tried learning the basics from your best friend - Illyasviel von Einzbern - but that put you in a coma for most of those three months. You think you'll stick to learning from her father, Kiritsugu, to whom you are apprenticed. Outside of the von Einzberns, you don't really have that many friends. You don't really like most people, and those who do wrong by you and yours you hate with all of your hatred. You've resolved to be a better person than your relatives, and strive to act with compassion towards strangers.

At the present moment, you are busy trying to deflect the unstoppable fury of a scorned Illya. Apparently, she has taken your reaction to her choice of a particular dress - the one that you saw her die in - as a criticism of her, and is damn near ready to chomp your head off.

"Hey, prophecy is totally a legitimate thing that's real!" You protests. You throw your arms up between yourself and Illya to ward off any attacks, though she seems to have calmed down for now.

"No it's not," she grumbles, "Papa always said that prophets were hacks."

You pause for a moment. That redheaded fellow said basically the same thing.

"That redheaded fellow said basically the same thing..." you say. "Though he also talked about some ancient egyptian wizard with the same name as Professor Zelretch."

Illya tilts her head.

"That's weird..." She says, rubbing her chin. "Does that mean I can get the dress?"

You say...
>Yes
>No
>How the hell do those two things have anything to do with one another?

>How the hell do those two things have anything to do with one another?

Depending on how cutely she pouts I just might cave and give her the dress anyway. Still, dream is something to talk to Kerry about.

Also, I just realized that all of you turned down the "Knowledge" origin. MFW, you idiots. The eyes are nice, but do you realize what you turned down? We could have gotten the "Universal Language"! Remember that one guy in KnK that could "convince" people of anything by speaking it? The guy who pretty much curbstomped Shiki because he said "You will lose sight of me here" and she did? Yeah him, we could have been him. We could have been able to talk total shit and people would still believe us like it was the Word of Fucking God!

Course, that would also land us with a sealing designation at some point but hey, the eyes'll do that too if the Clock Tower gets wind of it.

The whole Origin choice was bullshit anyway.
The Eyes are a completely abstract from Origins, Nanaya had them by literally dying, and Ryougi got them through hereditary means and a fucking coma.
And if our origin were truly to "Be the death of things" we'd have turned into a crazy killer, like Lio Shirazumi was.
Remember Lio Shirazumi?
After he got his origin unlocked he turned into a drug taking serial killer?
Shit, he didn't even gain any super special powers like us, he got jump good, slight regeneration, and he could eat a ton of shit.
At a cost of his sanity, his hair color, his personality, and even his fucking personality.
I don't know where OP got the fucking clue that Origins ever got you Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, but I can tell you if someone's origin truly was "To be the death of things" and it had been unlocked.
Shit, as Harry Potter woke up from his couple-day coma, he'd have slaughtered everyone in the hospital, simply due to that Origin.

The origin influences you, it does not control you. If awakened to it it becomes something of an OCD for you. You can't not do X, because X is your origin. Indeed, it might be impossible to defy it even if you don't know it.

The reason Lio began to lose his shit is because all the previous incarnations of that origin had been predatory beasts of some kind. Thus, as time passed he became more and more like them. Strong, fast, agile, and driven by the instinctual need to feed.

The only thing Harry's origin will compel him to do, by comparison, is make use of those lines every so often. We're planning on doing that anyway so it really won't affect our behavior.
>>
>Continue Zelretch tangent, distract her.

Harry Potter, master of subterfuge
>>
>>24732744
>The reason Lio began to lose his shit is because all the previous incarnations of that origin had been predatory beasts of some kind
And what sort of previous incarnation of "To be the death of things" would be better?

Again, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception are a totally different concept to Origins.
You gain them by being immersed in death, and I highly doubt that Harry had the inheritance gift that Ryougi did.
>>
>>24732796
No, but he did, you know, get Avada Kedavra'd back when he was a toddler. Might have something to do with it.

Are we really gonna have this discussion EVERY THREAD from here on out? It's done. It happened. Does it make sense? Not really, all things considered, but it's far too late to just retcon it away now.
>>
>>24732796
Harry got hit with a spell that's effect is flat out "You die." ALL other ways of killing do so indirectly by causing things which then lead to death, like Diffindo could cut someone's throat and then they bleed out. Avada Kedavra is the only spell in existence that, like the MEoDP, simply causes the target to stop living. Being hit by that has to be the purest case of "being immersed in death" ever.

>>>24732196

>>
>>24732896
>>24732894
You gained the eyes after that had happened, it's perfectly possibly he could have got them at that stage.
However, he didn't.
Nor are you feeling the effects of an awakened origin enough.
>>
>>24732863
>>24732938

We know jack shit about the ritual, could have sealed them until Origin awakening broke it because he must be "The Death of Things" and boy do those eyes allow for that.

But when do things die? Must they not live for a time before they die? We only have to kill things "eventually", thus, the origin will not be a major constraint on behavior. Just don't go more than a few days without killing something or we might have a fit.

"Illya, how the hell do those two things have anything to do with one another?"

Illya gives you a confused look, as if the question isn't quite parsing. She looks to you, and then looks back to the dress. And then she looks up, the gears in her mind turning as she tries to figure out why she thought the existance of an Ancient Wizard Zelretch had anything to do with her dress. Madame Malkin guides here to one of the chairs, and starts taking her measurements for her Hogwarts robes.

"Please," she pouts.

You frown at her.

She throws you a look that would not have been out of place on a puppy that Dudley and his gang had been kicking around.

Your frown intensifies.

"Pretty please?" she all but begs.

Madame Malkin turns to you, clearly beguiled under whatever bizarre witchcraft Illya was employing. "It does suit her..."

"Fine..." you say. "Fine."

Illya nearly jumps out of the seat when you give in to give you a hug. Key word being nearly - she gets too caught in a tangle of cloth to actually succeed. Madame Malkin rights her back up, and continues her work.

"So what houses ddo you think you two are going to be in?"

You...

And what sort of magician would be able to conjure that up?
Aoko stole Mystic Eye Killers glasses, ones so strong even Arcueid couldn't break them.
What sort of ritual would ever be able to mimic that effect to such a degree that one of the greatest soul based spells, the awakening of the origin, would be the only thing that could break it?

Given how Lily's sacrifice could stop an unblockable death I don't think it unreasonable that it could delay the awakening of eyes of death.

ANYWAY GUYS I AM DISTRESSED
In the previous thread Illya said
>"And it's because I'm so small, isn't it," she grates. "That I'm not and will never be some -cow-."
Is this implying that she has the same growth/lifespan issues from canon FSN or does she just somehow know that she's not going to have big breasts somehow?
>>
>>24733056
>>24733079
A sacrifice is only good with direction.
The only person that could sufficiently seal off the root was Souren Araya, master of bounded fields, although he could do so without use of sacrifice of a life.
He lived over 300 years, all of it devoted to the magic of the soul.

>>24733072
>And the glasses could already kill mystic eyes, Aoko just made them literally unbreakable for lulz. She didn't really "power them up" as it were.
They were still made by Touko Aozaki, an EXPERT on Mystic eyes, and someone who could fight equally with a caster from the age of the gods.

Jesus christ what is it about the Nasuverse specifically that brings out the spergs going on about the exact details of x piece of lore and if you deviate even slightly from it then you're shitting all over the story?

It's got a very strict system of rule magic, which is cool to read about, but a BITCH to GM in because all it takes is that one guy who knows more about the setting and won't just roll with it, to make it impossible to run.
>>
>>24733345
Potterverse magic frequently conjures shit up out of nothing, though. It's in literally every book.
>>
>>24733322
It's implied that Shirou's reality marble is a deteriorated form of some higher magecraft or magic, which may be what you're referring to, but to be perfectly honest nothing from that was confirmed at all, so it could be a deteriorated form of the first magic, or simply a magecraft only heard about in legend.
>>
>>24733325
>If you noticed, he wasn't arguing about magic at all.

Magic, psychics powers, wierd setting specific powers, who gives a shit. The merger of two settings with different setting specific things inherently means that at least some rules must be different.
>>
>>24733408
Did you even read the argument?
The said "magic" he was taking about wasn't influenced at all by the HPverse.
>>
>>24733390
"out of nothing" is kind of an odd phrasing. Remeber how Hermione was a bookworm, and started spouting off this "can't create something out of nothing" spiel? I think it was in the sixth book.

Anyway, it's supposedly one of the Laws of Magic or something that you can't create out of nothing, there has to be something to start with. You can't make food from nothing, but if you have food already, you can duplicate it. Stuff like that.
>>
>>24733422
>The said "magic" he was taking about wasn't influenced at all by the HPverse.
You of course have a deep understanding of the metaphysical laws of this combined universe and what things are affected by what.

"I shall be a member of House Atreides," You declare with great pomp and circumstance. "And all Hogwarts will know: THE SPICE SHALL FLOW UNENDING!"

Illya giggles.

"Sorry," she says, "We don't know what you're talking about."

"Ah, you're muggle borns, are you," Madame Malkin says a wistfully. Her sewing doesn't even miss a beat as she carries on in the conversation - she's clearly had god knows how many years carrying on small talk with her patrons. "There are Four Houses that they'll split you up into when you arrive - Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin."

With each word, she gives a flick of her wand, and the ghostly images of four animals fly out of it. First, a golden lion prances across the room, shedding crimson sparks like loose fur. Next, a black badger trudges behind it sturdily, leaving behind yellow paw prints. A deep blue and white raven follows it, and lastly is a snake of forest green and silver scales.

"Gryffindor," she points to the lion, "is the house of the brave. Not exactly known for their wisdom, though."

"Hufflepuff," the badger waves, "is the house of the loyal and hard working. Students from it tend to be either extraordinary in all they do, or scrape along the average."

"Ravenclaw," the raven flutters around Illya's head, "is the house of wisdom. Very bookish folk, those people, but you'll rarely find anyone smarter."

"Slytherin," the snake slithers around your head, "is the house of cunning and ambition. Always wind up going into politics, those ones."

Servants are broken bastards. Some things we wouldn't even be allowed to roll for that a servant would because of that. You can't run at 50mph no matter how high your agility and athletics score are. If the servant makes a good roll, they can.

That is why an average magus is fucked when taking on a servant.

You're torn, you're very torn. On the one hand, scheming and plotting in the background while people's eyes are on other, more obvious targets is totally your joint, and you love doing that. On the other hand, a house of people loyal to their friends - and thus not assholes like Dudley and his merry band of cowards - is something that you not so secretly want to be a part of. And really, who would expect the House of Normal to have a schemer in their midst?

Really, there is only one choice.

"If we get to choose," you say, "then I shall be..."

You pause, making a grandiose gesture with your hand, as to say that your a bringing the full force of your will down upon this decision, and damn anyone who would deny you to the depths of hell. You clench your fist, and declare your favored House.

"The first of House Atreides!"

Madame Malkin bursts into a a giggling fit. Illya gives you a blank stare filled with a potent mixture of annoyance and amusement.

"Harry, Atreides isn't even an option?"

You determination intensifies.

"The spice must flow, Illya," you decree. "The spice must flow."

After a good few laughs all around, you walk out of the shop 10 galleons lighter than you were and two bags of uniform robes and one frilly white dress heavier than you had been. You asked her about the Dracovests that the cool looking redheaded Indiana Jones was talking about, but apparently they don't make any of those in children's sizes, so you'll have to go without.

It is approaching three O'clock. Your next destination is...

It's an experience based, point buy system. I'm trying to balance things at "Average Joe = 100 points"

It costs an increasing amount of points to but higher ranked Attributes, as they apply to a broad range of skills. Skills each cost 2 points per rank, with 0 points to be untrained and have an effective rank of F. You generally know a number of mysteries equal to your rank in a particular type of Magecraft.

You can designate almost any skill you want as a combat skill, though some can only be used to determine your defense score. Your defense score, is [Combat Skill Rating] - 10, to a minimum of 0. To hit someone, you first have to roll against your [Combat Skill Rating], and then find the difference. [CSR-Roll] is greater than zero, compare it to their defense score - the higher of the two wins.

Wounds are dealt based upon the weapon you use. As a MEoDP user, you always deal a number of wounds equal to [CSR-Roll] when you hit.

It's a bit crunchy, though, I'm thinking of lightening the maths, though I'm not quite sure how to go about that.

Your trip to the Magical Menagerie is about as eventful as all of the other shopping that you've been getting out of the way today so that you won't have to do it again for a looo~ong while. That is to day, you bump into a few colorful looking people - literally, mind you, as they were dressed in the technicolor fashion abortions that Wizards think muggles walk around in - and find it nestled between its top competitor, Eeylop's Owl Emporium, and Wiseacre's Wizarding Supplies.

Stepping into the store, your nose is assaulted by the various interesting smells of animals living their day to day lives mixed with the pinesol scent of rotting wood chips. It is surprising similar to a muggle store - much like any pet shop, it has aisles of cages large and small, housing animals of all shapes and sizes.

It's oddly depressing in the same way those are, now that you think about it. Especially since the cages are barred instead of glass.

Several other young witches and wizards are scurrying about the aisles, begging their parents to let them take home a familiar. Most parents seems only content to let their children gawk at the critters, though some do let them pick a bird, or cat, or dog.

Speaking of dogs...

"PUPPIES!" Illya's eyes light up when she sees the pen, strategically located right infront of the store. There are all manner of adorable little doglets, that you have no doubt she should not be allowed to bring home to Heracles.

You join Illya for a very brief moment to play with the puppies - their inherent adorability is not something that a ten year old boy is well equipped to resist. Getting one is very tempting indeed, as the cute balls of fur and fluff with their little bobbed tails and big droopy eyes will one day grow to be a large, powerful, adorable beast of wrath and protection.

You hug one. It licks your nose.

Putting it down before you do something that will inevitably cramp on Illya's position as "small person with big, badass, friendly dog," you leave to take a look at the birds.

There are rows and rows of gilded cages, containing majestic and powerful figures of the avian variety. Owls, hawks, doves, sparrows, albatrosses, all the myriad species of bird you could have thought of and more rest within this aisle. Most are asleep, letting the days of their captivity slip by them.

A few, however, catch your eye. A majestic eagle that wouldn't have been out of place on an American propaganda poster. A brown hawk with spotted wings meets your eye, showing you its nature as a hunter of prey. A dove seems to bow as you walk by it, causing you to double take to make sure you weren't halucinating. A beautiful white Owl, that seems oddly familiar for some reason.

You approach the hawk. It casts a discerning glance your way, as if trying to take your measure. You reach out to the cage, and brushes against the bar.

"Caw Caw," it screetches, though that isn't quite the right onomodopoeia.

"So, are you a smart little guy?"

It gives you an offended look. Apparently, it doesn't appreciate being called a little fellow or something along those lines.

"Alright, you're a smart big guy, then?"

It doesn't nod, which is somewhat disappointing. It doesn't really need to nod, though - its approval is conveyed through more than anything a mere gesture would have been able to tell you.

"Caw. Caw." Again with the incorrect onomodopoeia.

"You know," you tell it, "If you're the fellow I'm gonna be bringing back with me, you're going to need to correct that. Hawks don't go 'Caw caw' like that -" You flap your arms for emphasis. "That's more like a crow - and those are filthy scavengers. You wouldn't want to be compared to a scavenger now, would you?"

If it didn't have a beak, you'd imagine it would be pouting.

"I thought not."

"Caw," it squeaks, begrudgingly.

A valid point, but we won't be at hogwarts forever. Birds (or anything that can fly really) are the best familiars because of flight and recon. Also, Eagles, Hawks, and Falcons are capable of fighting other creatures and generally ruining another person's day because talons are sharp.

You decide to leave the bird section of the Menagerie behind for the time being, and take a look at the other sorts of animals they have for pets. Your meanderings lead you over to the snakes, which from what you can hear seems to be pretty popular, despite the general stigma society has for reptiles.

You are very surprised to find the aisle nearly empty, despite all the chatter.

"'Ey, cholo, come 'on!" A voice says from somewhere to your left. "Whysss you leaving me hangin man? How did old Esssmerelda get her sssweet assss adopted by one of thessse humansss?"

"It goes a bit further beyond that, actually," you tell the girly voice, "Humans, at least in Europe and the Middle East, haven't been all that fond of snakes for quite some time." You start pacing the cages, looking for where the voices are coming from. "At least as far back as the Bible - actually, no, even further than that. The first hero of the world, according to legend, slew the first snake."

You're not entirely sure why Kiritsugu drilled that little fact into your head - he never went into any of the other part's of Gilgamesh's epic, just that...

"That'sss troubling..." the refined sounding fellow hisses. "To think that sssuch animosssity hasss exisssted... perhapsss that isss why the old onesss made the ssspeakersss."

Tonks is cool. She'll be in her 6th or 7th year at Hogwarts this coming semester, so we should befriend her. For an older teen to befriend a munchkin, we need to win her interest. Thus, we tell her about our parselmouth ability.

"Ummm... ah..." You look pleadingly to the snake, wondering if he had any ideas that could bail you out.

"'Ey don't look at me, cholo," he says, shaking his head, "I'm stuck inside this cage. Can't do much outside"

"I was taught to never go with strangers," you tell her, giving her a funny look. "Yeah, I'm not supposed to walk off with random strangers, at all. So, yeah, I can't exactly go wandering off to talk with your boss."

Tonk chuckles.

"Oh don't worry, kiddo, magic's solved that problem." Tonks waves her wand in front of you. "All you've got to do is speak into the wand, and you and Mr. Gargan will be able to talk with one another, okay?"

"Alright..." you say. "Adios, Mr. Snake."

"SSSayonara, cholo."

"Hello?" you ask into the older girl's wand.

"Greetings, young child!" A jovial man's voice comes from, somewhere behind you? But no one is there - it must be an effect of the spell. "Now, Miss Tonks has told me that you've been talking with some of the snakes - you haven't been trying to stir up any trouble with them, have you?"

"No!" you say, a bit too quickly. "I just thought it was cool, being able to talk to some of the animals is all - I didn't know that it wasn't allowed." You pause for a moment. "Do any other types of animal talk? I wonder what that hawk I was looking at would have to say...."

Over the man's laughter, you continue.

"I mean, he looked kind of annoyed when I called him a little guy - it was almost like talking to Mr. Golden over here, except Mr. Golden talks back. And keeps calling me a cholo. Do you know what that means, mister?" You take a deep breath. "Also, he said that none of them had names, which was kind of weird because he was talking about 'old Esssmerelda when I walked in on them."

The man's laughter intensifies.

"What's so funny?" you ask, your voice getting touch by a hint of anger. "Was this some sort of clever ruse - some kind of joke?"

The man's coughs back his laughter. "Sorry, sorry, my boy. "What's so funny?" you demand. You are quickly losing your patience with these buffoons - could they stop laughing at you and just explain why its so damned funny? "Does it have to do with the fact that my parents were murdered and their killer decided to bounce electric green lasers off of my forehead? Because that's not funny. That's not funny at all."

Tonks straightens her composure, and tactfully shuts off the raucous guffaws of her employer. "Sorry, kiddo. It's just ironic, you have to understand."

"What's so ironic about it?"

"Well, you see," she says, "the last person who could speak Parseltongue sort of gave it a bad reputation; he was the same guy who gave you that scar on your forehead."

"So what," you begin, "is it an evil talent or something - will people start thinking I'm gonna jump off the deep end in a split second because I like chatting with snakes?"

"Some might," she said, "others might not. The older families would be less inclined to, especially if they keep the old lore." She pats you on the shoulder. "There were a few Saints who were Parseltongues, throughout the centuries - St. Patrick, for instance, was probably the most famous of them."

"So it's not inherently evil?" you ask.

"Nope!" she smiles. "No more evil than my gift, anyways."

Suddenly, her hair changes to blue, and her face shifts into that of a completely different person. It's almost uncanny...

No he hasn't. In this world Kerry decided that a happy life with his family was more important that fulfilling his ideal. HF IV went down in a rather noblebright manner instead off the Grimdark manner we saw in Fate/Zero. Thus, he chose to save Iri and Illya with his wish. Saber got to be Saber Lilly as well. He also gets to pass down what remains of the Emiya crest to Illya due to her being his daughter. Harry is his true apprentice though, as Iri wouldn't want his PARANOIA and other habits being fully imparted to her.

In other words, Kerry has lucked out hardcore in this timeline. I'm happy for him, dude went through so much, bout' time he lucked out.

It's all a matter of opinion. Gilgamesh wasn't trying to be a douche. Hell, if you owned the world, wouldn't you feel you were entitled to anything you want?

This seems like the right thing to ask.

She knows what OUR thing's deal is; it's only fair that we ask her about hers.

Regardless your opinion on how to define his behaviour in canon, his lack of that behaviour scored him Seibah
>>
>>24738849
The "different incarnations" were mostly based on limiting abilities according to class. They still had their personalities. Therefore, it was more like someone named "Gilgamesh" than Gilgamesh himself.
>>
>>24738849
Correct, untainted grail summons Gil Post-Enkidu. That guy, like I said before, *really* mellowed him out. Made him into a bro-tier kind of guy. I've heard he acts more like that version in Fate/EXTRA CC. Which is good. He is a likable character, after he met Enkidu I mean.
>>
>>24738898
Where was this stated, would you know? I can't really recall anything like that.
>>
>>24738898
But he was summoned after he met Enkidu in cannon. Gil told Broskander on the final night in the 4th war that he only needs one friend, or something along those lines.
>>
>>24738957
>>24738940
>>24738898
Perhaps he was summoned in between his bromance with Enkidu and Enkidu's subsequent smiting?
>>
>>24738983
Or Proto Gil was summoned instead of Gil.
>>
>>24738983
Really, you're trying too hard to explain it based on him being the SAME Gil as Zero and Stay Night.
When that's not necessary. considering the nature of the multiverse (it's not so much "multi" as it is "omni") that SOMEWHERE in the myriad Kaleidoscope of universes, is Prototype. Thus, there exist an infinite number of universes that have ProtoGil instead of DoucheGil. And this is one of them.
That's the thing about having an infinite number of alternate realities be canon. You can kinda mix and match from the ones you glimpse.

GM said grail is untainted and summoned the "nice" version of Gilgamesh. "Nice" version being the version of his character after he'd been with Enkidu for a good long while. That Gil was a likable guy.

>>24738983
Was about to say that. Thanks for bringing it up.

>>24738991
Proto Gil is Gil after his bromance with Enkidu. Made him a much better person. It's why Saber let him giver her the D. Douche Gil would never stand a chance because Saber hates people like that. But Bro Gil? After a bit of Tsundere shenanigans... yep, she'd give it up, because at base he's a good man. Only good men get to plow her, if you catch my meaning.

Seriously, ProtGil is just a DIFFERENT Gil.
Same as how ProtoSaber is a different King Arthur than Arturia.
>>
>>24739085
Not referencing shit, just going off of logic. The legends say Gil was once a giant douche. The people prayed to the gods to give him a distraction, something to get him out of their hair. The gods responded by creating Enkidu and arranging for him to meet Gil. Thus began their tale of adventure. It's a long story, but let's just say Gil did change over the course of the story.
>>
>>24739151
Either way, if I was leaving over some detail OP decided on that didn't make sense in the context of the base material, I probably would have chosen something more important than such a minor detail, the MEoDP or his Origin.

You stop and think for a moment. The implications of being able to shift into any body that you wish to possess are frightening.

"Your... your power doesn't have any mass murderers associated with it like mine does, does it?" you ask, more than a bit nervous.

"Not quite," she says, with a grin. "But... there are quite a few old legends in wizarding folklore, about how the metamorphmagus will steal your children away and take their place in the middle of the night."

She shifts again, now to a form with the most absurd combinations of hair color and eye color Harry had ever seen. She flashes him a big grin, as she slowly shrinks herself down to someont his age and size. It's rather uncanny, the way that her flesh seems to simply mold itself anew.

"I could see how that might make people not like you..." you say, after a moment.

"Yeah." She grins at you, melting back to her original form. "So don't worry about it. Talking to snakes is small time, on the rankings of evil powers, after all."

You nod, a little bit.

"Now, do you want to take Mr. Gold back home with you, then?"

If we have to get a snake, I'd prefer the well spoken... erm.... well-hissed one.
>>
>>24739379
Indeed, why not both? We have a good amount of dosh left to spend, we can afford both. Plus I still want to talk to bonafide 'MURRICA Eagle.

The shit we could say as he claws people to death. "Be blinded by the might of 'MURRICA!" and other such cheasy, hilarious lines. And that we have Gil Snake for even more lol worthy commentary.

Just because we in a grimdark setting, doesn't mean I can't desire a heaping helping of comic relief.
>>
>>24739452
But we're English.
>>
>>24739358
I want this>>24739379

>>24739507
So? 'MURRICA was founded by a bunch of posh well to do English gentlemen who more or less told the king to fuck off since he wouldnt listen to them

We are technically related to them like a cousin or that one bastard off spring everyone knows but ignores the scandalous origions off.

Almost to well really as I remember Bush once asking the Queen of England to a 4th of July celebration once...yeah thats not awkward or anything...
>>
>>24739507
and murrica jokes get old fast
>>
>>24739507
We can still into humor. We can still laugh our asses off because we're spouting technically inappropriate lines. Harry is spiteful, he can get this kind of shit, especially if our Eagle is clawing out the eyes of an enemy.

Let the potential for comedy take you, for later on there will be only suffering when the war against Vold really swings into gear. Get the comic relief while ye can anon, we'll be needing it to not go full PTSD mode by the end of this.

>>24739583
We use them sparingly. Not every time an eyeball is skewered by those talons, but if the opportunity presents itself we make the quip. A good comedian does not crack a certain joke any time he could, only when the situation is practically begging him to do so. That's why a certain joke stays funny. It's not overused, but it is used when appropriate.
>>
>>24739437
I mean, there's nothing keeping us from getting both of them. Gold seems personable enough, and the well-spoken one is also well-read(!?), which is a thing we probably should've been more surprised about to begin with once we got past the "we're talking to snakes" bit.
>"I've read their papersss... the lassst ssspeaker wasss a bad apple."

Third snake seems like a arrogant dick, so fuck him.

>>24739452
Yeah, there really isn't any reason for us to be terribly focused on the eagle in-character aside from eagles being fuckhuge and thus physically impressive in their own right.

Not as impressive, nor as practical as actually being able to communicate, though.
>>
>>24739604
I think we should get the well-read snake and the Hawk myself, but I just want to see the eagle.
>>

>expecting /tg/ to show any restraint
I take it you aren't a participant in Girls und Panzer Quest? We've got to deal with jackasses trying to make EVERY CHOICE into a 'MURRICA joke. We nip that shit in the bud or we'll have that here.
>>
If we can keep our Parseltonguin to ourselves, as a secret, we'll have a spy in the the snake.

There are Three Snakes you've heard speaking - Gold Snake, Moe Snake, and Pompous Snake. Anything that began with "Silly" or "Sweety" was Moe Snake.

Unless well spoken snake is Moe Snake, in which case, my bad.

Then they are either poor players or a collection of trolls. A real player knows restraint. I live in 'Murrica and I enjoy those jokes immensely, but I know not to turn everything into that type of joke. Again, a joke only stays funny if it is used only when the situation begs for it to be made.

For example, if we do get the eagle as a familiar and we end up in America and he claws out the eyes of a death eater near the Statue of Liberty? Then yes "BE BLINDED BY THE MIGHT OF 'MURRICA!" is what I will say.

Eagle does that in jolly olde England? A mere, "Oooooh, I'm gonna have a nightmare tonight." is my response. Restraint, it's one of the keys to comedy.
>>
>>24739764
Yeah, it's that one.

I was interpreting that snake as having more like a motherly/kindly authority figure tone than aiming for Moe, but if that was the intention, that's probably an even more amusing dynamic with Gold Snake than my interpretation.

So yeah, my feelings still stand at taking those two snakes with us and leaving the pompous one to get picked up by an uptight Slytherin kid that fits his temperament better.
>>
>>24739801
I believe you when you say YOU would show restraint. But I've been on /tg/ long enough to know that at times pulling out a submachine gun and firing into the ceiling Harmon Rabb Jr style would be a better option than what /tg/ decides to do in pursuit of "lulz". We can't trust /tg/ with that kind of lulbait.
>>
>>24739949
It all depends really. We must always remember that anon on /tg/, while usually quite clever, has the tendency to go full retard for no good reason every so often.

Also, this setting, or fusion of settings as it is, does not lend itself all too readily to 'Murrica jokes. This ain't MLA or Girls und Panzer, IRL politics has little to do with a world of Wizards and Magi. They are above nationality, beyond them. Something in the shadows behind the shadows of the world...

I want gold snake and eagle. Hell, he's south of the border, he'll get the symbolism we're getting at and will likely be amused by it. Plus he might have known Gil in life, I just can't pass that possibility up. Not often you get to hear of history from a man/snake that was actually there to experience it.

He's ancient, very ancient if his line about not having need of a name for eons is true. He's been around since the Age of the gods if he is to be believed. He would have picked up on these things naturally.

>>24740279
We could swing all 3 given our dosh reserves, but I still want a good flying broom by the end of the day. It's very nice, being able to fly fast and agile like. Don't want to throw that possibility away. Plus, we lifted a spear. Know what goes good with a nice spear? A great mount. A great broom=great mount.

>>24740311
We can, but we also have other priorities. I still want 'good' quality broom and a device that'll enable us to talk to our master (i.e. Kiritsugu) while attending Hogwarts. When shit hits the fan, there isn't a better man to call upon for advice and/or aid.
>>
>>24740311
I was joking about all 3, but two snakes doesn't seem ridiculous for a parseltongue.
>>
>>24740340
You know he could have been speaking for snakes in general, right? He probably meant that it's been so long since any snake has needed a name that he and the other modern snakes don't have names.

If anything, this Esmerelda is the one who might be ancient. Or he could have just been referring to her by the color of her scales. Something like "The female green-scaled one" that didn't get translated because he was using the Spanish/Portuguese variant of Parseltongue and Harry only knows the English variant.
>>
>>24740340
>line about not having need of a name for eons
He never said that. He just said it had been a long time since he'd needed a name. "Long time" does not automatically mean eons.
>>
>>24740424
True, I'm probably just hoping but still, his words were intriguing to say the least. Plus, he's explicitly described as being gold in color. Not yellow, or golden yellow, just gold. That in itself is unusual. He's interesting, that's all I'm saying. When I see an interesting character, I start wanting to ask questions. I'll probably miss the next thread if it is held tomorrow, but please, ask a few more questions of him. Need to know how right or wrong I am about his glorious golden ass.

No point in extrapolating our attribution of Gil-isms to this snake (to the extent that we literally made Nero make it by sheer force of amusement.) to him ACTUALLY being the First Snake. That's a bit more than a little over the top.

>>24740356
>two snakes doesn't seem ridiculous for a parseltongue.
And this gives us the amusing reasoning of "I got two so they have someone to talk to when they're alone." The overwhelming majority of people will go "Aw, isn't that cute.", and all the while we are doing this because we know that they are literally capable of speech, and leaving a sentient creature alone in a terrarium while we're in classes is cruel.
