You decide to see how Lin is doing before you do anything else. You find her upstairs in the gym, going to town on the heavy bag. She grins at you as you enter and tosses you a pair of practice mitts. You step up and start catching her punches.

"So, how's the study base?" you ask as you set her up for a nice set.

"It's really great!" she says, hammering away at your hands. She's not as strong or tough as you, but she's just about as fast. "You really need to start stopping in, Max. Or are you too busy with Pierre now?"

You snort a little bit in laughter. "Today was the first time I've spent any real time with him in weeks," you say. "I've mostly been busy augmenting my body." You toss her a wide hook to parry. She takes the opportunity to move in and start a grapple, sweeping your leg and landing on top of you while you're off balance from the hook. Her reacting that way surprised you, and it probably shows on your face.

She grins down at you, straddling your belly with her forearm across your collar bone. "I've been learning some tricks from my previous lives," she says, moving in closer until her face is barely a hair's breadth from yours. You can feel the warmth from her face on your lips. "Want to see some?"

You were ready, though, catching her palm strike at the twist and doing a quarter-turn to send her sprawling. She catches your own wrist as she goes, though, swinging around to pull your neck and shoulder into a clinch between her thighs, her warm crotch pressed uncomfortably against your armpit as she starts pulling you into an arm bar.

"See?" she asks. You can hear the grin in her voice. "Tricks."
