Mankind is capable of great things. Weather these things are good or bad are all up to perceptive. However one accomplishment few could denounce was the successful press into the coldlighted frontier of space. For the last 600 years mankind has begun to colonize space, tapping into the bountiful resources lingering in the vacuum to build space colonies, large self-sustaining habitats which act like islands in the deadly black ocean known as Space. Large Bi-pedal robots known as “Mobile Suits” were developed to assist in the construction of these colonies and proved to be amazing tools…and deadly weapons.

As people began to migrate to these Space Colonies they began to feel distant from the Earth. They felt their connections to Earth tied them down, prevented them from being truly independent and free. One by one, the colonies began to demand autonomy, militarizing the mobile suits to act as tools of destruction and war. The nations of Earth refused, denying any possibility of autonomy from their control. This act of stubbornness ignited a conflict larger than any mankind had ever witnessed before.
(Continued)
>>
>>24623038
First the colonies seemed united in their urge for independence and began to force out the Earth governments influence from the colonies. Eventually they began to become more and more aggressive until they were sending down troops to Earth to attack military installations. Things began to spin violently out of control when the Colonies themselves began to quarrel with each other. The war continued to grow worse and worse, as the Colonies continued to fight both themselves and the nations of Earth who eventually banded together in one unified Federation. Millions died, both on Earth and in the Colonies. Horrible atrocities were committed, the gassing of colonies, the dropping of colonies onto Earth. The war seemed to rage and rage with no end in sight until the Savior came. A single mobile suit changed the course of history. It drove the war to a halt and brought an end to the Colony Nations Wars. This mobile suit became known as the legendary savior, Gundam.

After decades of death and sorrow, everyone yearned for peace and thanks to the Gundam the warring factions were able to sit down and negotiate. The talks culminated in the Silver Chalice Treaty, which called for the complete disarmament of the Earth Federation and Colony’s militaries and the institution of new laws and organizations to help keep the connection between the Earth and the Colonies strong, while allowing autonomy from one another.
(Continued)
>>
>>24623046
On the day the Silver Chalice Treaty was signed the calendar has moved past Anno Domini and changed to the “Advanced Generation” a tribute to the progression made with the end of the war and the construction of a beautiful lasting peace that lasted for over 101 years. However, nothing lasts forever. In the year A.G. 101 the space colony Angel was obliterated by unknown forces using strange mobile suits. This incident became known as the "The Day the Angel Fell" and ignited the remilitarization of the Earth Federation. In A.G. 108 the Orvan colony fell, signifying 8 years of defeat at the hands of the unknown forces which became widely known as the U.E, The Unknown Enemy.

Colonies have been attacked by enemies from the darkness of space. They come fast, furious and leave very little alive when they leave. No one knows who or what they are. As the Earth Federation struggles to learn more about the U.E and build weapons to stop them the Colonies are left to wonder and wait.

When will the U.E. strike next? What are their intentions? Are they aliens? Demons?

The fear of the unknown is great and all consuming. Even the people of the Nora colony feel this fear, even with the large Federation military installation in their colony working on a new weapon to fight the U.E. the danger of attack is still all too possible. The world needs a savior and a young man by the name of Flit Asuno is striving to become one. However this is not his story. This is YOUR story.

You are a 15 year old boy living in the Zarth Colony, a very old industrial colony that used to be a major center of manufacturing during the Colony Nations War. That was a 115 years ago though, now in A.G. 115 it’s just a regular colony with a penchant for attracting antique dealers and scrap collectors.

You lie in bed, blissfully unaware what your day will hold and that your actions today are about to change the course of history.

But will it be for better, or for worse?

We will see…
>>
>>24623058
But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
We don’t even know your name!
So, what is your name anyway?:
>>
Erik Heartman
>>
>>24623093
Alright, so your name is Erik Heartman
What kind of life have you had Erik?

A) Life Sucks: You don’t know your dad, he apparently left on very bad terms with your mother who is now a chain smoking, alcoholic, drug addled train wreck that can barely keep herself sober enough to work. At school you’re berated and gunned after by the teachers because they think you’re a ‘bad influence’ and your classmates aren't exactly fond of you. Your grade average sucks from so much ditching

B) Life is Fair: Your family’s pretty normal; you could probably say their pretty boring. Dad is a soldier, Mom works at the school as a teacher. Your family makes enough to get by and enjoy yourselves now and then. In school your already taking advanced math classes and have progressed so much that your parents signed you up for some trade courses in electronics and computer technology despite it costing an arm and a leg.

C) Life is Awesome!: Your family is loaded. Sure, Mom and Dad aren’t home half the time due to their many business ventures but you find ways to keep yourself entertained. You go to a top notch private school and are currently the most well liked guy there. You may not be all that strong and your pretty average in terms of book smarts, but you’re the life of the party.

D) Other

>>24623221
Let's go with B for now.
>>
>>24623221
Definitely B
>>

>>24623285
Life has been fair to you? Nice to hear that even though your normal life hasn’t offered up any drastic experiences for you to draw from you have a good head on your shoulders and a supportive family and that's worth quite a lot in the long run.

So, what do you like Erik? Give me a general idea of what your physical appearance is.
>>
>>24623356
Fit, due to keeping active but not overly so.
Boyish in looks.
Black hair, green eyes.
>>
>>24623384
This.
Also, tall and a little bit thin, with bags under our eyes from not sleeping due to studying.
Also a small, still growing stubble of a beard. And a fuckton of chesthair, because MANLY.

Your physically fit, your mother and father taught you the need to keep your body and mind in good shape. Your pretty skinny though, your Mom always says you should eat more but you always have something better you could be doing like studying or trying to build that gaming PC you’ve always wanted. Your somewhat big for your age standing around 5,9, you’ve definitely had a very early puberty as your already growing facial and chest hair. Mom says you should shave it, but it’s just so manly and awesome you can’t bare to do it.

So, anything else we should know about you Erik?

We'd like nothing more than to go on adventures and stuff, because we're petrified of what the future holds for us in a cubicle.
Think of Kamina and Indiana Jones combined - we'd love to be that, but we're lazy and afraid we'd get hurt, and that we'd hurt our parents.
>>
>>24623431
(I love you for this post)

>>24623553
We do have a passing interest in joining the military like dad, at least it might keep us out of a cubical and in an engineering lab or maybe piloting a Mobile Suit or something, anything but a desk job like mom.
>>

Are we going to throw Chuunibyou into this?
Our hero has quite the active imagination, and was a very active LARPer when he was younger.

Dear God, did I run around in that cape and that sword?

Sounds like you really don't want a desk job huh? Well that's perfectly understandable. You want to get out and see the universe, see what you can see and do. However you love your parents and you'd rather not get crippled or killed. The Black Devil sounds like a pretty bad ass nickname, but you wonder if you'd ever be brave enough to get a nickname that wasn't "The Bearded 15 Year Old"

So tell me, do these look good approximations of your skills? *Skill rolls will be made with a 1d100*

You, Erik Heartman awake to the screeching of an alarm. Sadly it’s not the siren to go into battle like in your dreams, it’s just your shitty alarm clock. You lean up and look around your room, rubbing your eyes your vision clears up. You see your room is still pretty damn messy, The gaming computer still isn't finished, hard drives, power supplys and some shitty mother boards are strewn about your desk, most are on the floor or in the trash where they belong. The walls of your room are adorned with posters, book shelves filled with comic books and adventure novels, or model mobile suits you painted in your spare time.

You look into the corner next to your bed and give an embarrassed frown seeing the box containing your old LARPing gear. "Your going to the garbage when I get back from school today." You threat sleepily as you get up and throw on a t-shirt, jeans, boxers and socks.
>>24624605
You look into your dresser mirror and see Erik Heartman staring back at you...wait a minute. You shake your head and laugh to yourself. Your name is Jake Crocker! Before you have time to ponder on your mistake and your weird ass dream you smell bacon and are drawn out of your room. Before heading down stares you give one last threatening glare to the LARP box.

The whole way down the stairs you try to think of the best way to destroy the cursed Larp box after school. Throwing it away would leave you wondering if it was still around, launching it into the vacuum would leave it forever preserved as a source of embarrassment for you. Your best option is to just burn it in your drive way, maybe make some smores or something in the flames.

You arrive downstairs to see your bother whipping up the both of you some breakfast. You ride to school with her every day since she works at the school you go to. It’s faster then the school bus and you get extra time to study before class.
“Morning Hun, I’m making some eggs and bacon, the toast is already on the table”
“Thanks Mom” you say and sit down and snag a piece of toast. The smell of the food makes your stomach roar. Before you begin to munch on your toast, you see that he TV is on the Colony News Channel…
“Authorities have not given any indictation on what could have happened to the ship. However many speculate it to be the work of the U.E, whose activity has increased in the last week. Although the possibility of local pirates is not out of the question. More news after this break”
Your mom comes in and sets the food down on the table.

What do you do now?
>>
>>24625088
Devour that food. You're so hungry, you could eat a horse.
"What was that about? Are the UE coming towards us?"
>>
>>24625136
"Hey Mom, what was that about? Are the UE coming towards us?" You ask as you scarf down the delicious food.
“No, it’s just that ships have been disappearing more often lately. Ever since the U.E. showed up it’s been pretty dangerous to travel in anything larger than a shuttle that’s not armed to the teeth. However your father said it’s nothing to worry about, the garrison here is more than enough to chase them off. Besides it was probably just local pirates anyway” Your mother smiles reassuringly, even though she doesn’t seemed pleased about the news. “Don’t worry about it. Speaking of your father, he’s actually on his way back here from Fardain. He should be arriving here in a few hours.”
That news pleases you quite a lot. Your dad has been gone more and more recently, the Federation has been moving troops from the garrisons in more peaceful locations to boost the Colonys under threat from the U.E, at least that’s how he explained it to you.
“Hurry up and finish, you’ve got that field trip to the Museum you wanted to go to. They got some new exhibits in about a week ago, they should have them up by now. You don’t want to miss that do you?”
A) Go to school, your field trip will mean you’ll be out of school anyway, it’ll be a fun Friday.
B) Fake sickness to stay home.
C) –Something Else in Mind?-
What are you going to do now?
>>
>>24625303
A). Let's get this show on the row.
>>
>>24625303
>A

Oh boy, a museum in a setting where there used to be really awesome mobile suits. This can only go good places.
>>
>>24625461
“Of course not! It’s a field trip, even I like getting out of school now and then. Besides, it’ll be nice to see something that isn’t old panels and plates from when the colony was built. Maybe it’ll be some Colony Nation War stuff, that’d be pretty awesome...” You finish off your meal and rub your hands together.

Your mother chuckles at your enthusiasm as she grabs her purse. You pick up your computer bag off the couch and head to the car with your mother. You don’t bother bringing your backpack along, you won’t be using any of the textbooks and you feel like a hunchback with the damn thing on. Climbing into a car you enjoy a nice quiet ride to school, listening to Stan Bush’s “Dare” over the car radio all the way to the parking lot.

Waving your Mom goodbye as she heads to her classroom you report to first period and take a seat. Minutes later the kids start to file in. Only half your class is present, most of them probably skipped to enjoy a three day weekend. The teacher isn’t here yet so you probably have a couple minutes before he arrives to tell you to head out.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24625514

>>

Talk to our friends. Scope out chicks. Be a bearded 15 year old.
>>
>>24625667
>>24625696
Your right, it's pretty damn boring. You chat with a couple of your friends, but there just as eager to get to the museum and go home as you are. After failing to find any nice chicks to flirt with you sit down at your desk and play on your laptop a little.

After what feels like ages someone finally arrives, but he's not your usual teacher. He's dressed in rather nice clothes and has odd dull green hair. His smile sends chills up your spine as he stands in front of the class. "Hello children, I am Mr. Manos and I will be your substitute teacher for today."

The whole class ether stays silent or forces a smile and nods. You can't take your eyes off the man, was the school hiring punk rockers or something?

Mr. Manos leads you and your class to a bus outside and you enjoy a silent, rather uncomfortable ride with him. Getting off the bus you see the large, stone-pillared museum that is the Zarth Museum. Your class files inside and Mr. Manos turns to you. "We've been given free roam of the entire museum today, so feel free to poke around and look at the displays all you want. The tour guides will probably be able to answer any questions you have. Please don't disappear students, I will be back in a minute I need to have a..." He pauses, as if he is rethinking his words. "A discussion with the head curator here. I will be back in a few minutes."

He leaves and your class disperses. You look around but practically groan in disappointment when you see the new exhibit section is closed. nothing but the boring exhibits are left. Still, there's nothing to stop you from just going in and look at them. But maybe you should check up on what your substitute is doing, he has "fucking creepy" written all over his face.

What do you do?
A) See where the hell your creepy substitute is doing
B) Go to the "Colony History" Section.
C) Ignore all the signs and sneak into the new "Colony Nations War" section.

You decide the substitute is probably just going to smoke in the bathroom or something and decide to sneak into the new exhibit section. There isn’t a lot of security, with 30 kids running around and only signs to stop you from going into areas you duck under the rope put across the doorway and walk inside.
The lights are off but you can still see pretty well. It only takes a moment for you to see what you were hoping to. Mobile suits are lined up against the large walls of the large corridor you are now in. They are definitely from the Colony Nation Wars, they don’t make them like this anymore.
You walk down, soaking in the sight of the well preserved suits and weapons. You’re amazed at their condition, where did they get the suits from? This place used to manufacture weapons during the war, so maybe they found them stashed away somewhere.

Most of the suits seem like ones that would come from the war, but you come to one that makes you stop and think. You don’t recognize the suit, it seems radically different from the other suits in the exhibit but it seems very familiar. You try to think back to what you remember in history class...

You let out a squee like a teenage girl at a pop-icon concert, wondering how the hell you didn’t realize what the suit was before. It was mentioned only about a dozen times in the Colony Nation Wars section of your history book. The war was stopped by a large intervening force lead by a single mobile suit. This one suit. They didn’t have any hard pictures of the suit as most were lost, but there was a lot of paintings and artist illustrations of the suit and they looked dead on to what you’re seeing now.
The Gundam, the Legendary Mobile Suit that halted the Colony Nation Wars is standing before you, or at least you think it is. Before you have the chance to leap up and climb the suit like a god damn jungle gym, you hear the sound off footsteps and freeze. Quickly you run up and hide behind the Gundam’s leg.

>>
>>24626365
The sound of footsteps grows louder but comes to a stop as a louder, more rapid paced set of footsteps drowns it out.

“Hello Sir, I’m glad to have caught you. You weren’t in your office so I thought thought you might be here…” the voice sounds familiar. Is it Mr. Manos?

“I know why you’re here, and the answer I no” the other voice says, gruff and stern.

Who you assume to be Mr. Manos lets out a small laugh “You obviously know what you have you’re a very smart curator, so I’m willing to pay you for it. Quite handsomely”

“No amount of money will change my mind. You’re not getting your hands on it. I heard from Marcus you were asking about what we found in between the inner and outer colony walls.”

“Yes, your friend was less than helpful. I was hoping you’d be more reasonable. Do you have any idea how important that mobile suit is to me and my …employers. They will not take no for an answer and neither will I. So take the money or we will be forced to pay you in a very different way”

“Well I’m sorry but you obviously have no idea what the suit is worth in a historical sense. This is not some cheap recreation It is the machine that stopped the Colony Nation Wars! It shook the battle at Gaia and seized the field of battle all by itself just by showing up! It is not a mere suit to be pawned off to men. I don’t know who you work for and frankly, I don’t care. That suit is a treasure and it belongs in a museum.”

“I’m sorry to hear that Mr. Jones. But maybe my friends will have better luck talking with you. I will see you later....” the sound of footsteps starts up again and grows silent. Sticking your head out you see you are alone again.

What will you do now?

You flip out your phone and take a picture of the Gundam. Your so excited your hands a shaking. After a couple tries you get a descent picture, however you realize that if you don’t get a picture with it your friends and family will just think your bullshitting them. After taking a picture by the legs you decide you’re going to take a picture of yourself piloting the suit and begin to climb up the mobile suit. It’s not easy, but thankfully you’re not as scared as heights as you are water. After making it to the torso, you begin looking around for an emergency release. It should open the cockpit unless someone locked it and died inside. After looking around you find it and twist it, giving it a sharp tug that causes the cockpit to fly open with a quiet hisssss.

Peering inside you are glad to see there is no skeleton, just a very nice if someone musty smelling cockpit. You climb inside and take a seat in the chair, laughing to yourself like you’re a kid getting ready for your first roller coaster ride. Flipping out your phone, you try to look as cool as possible and snap about half a dozen shots in different poses and with different faces.
Since you’re in the suit…why not try to see if it runs?

What will you do now Jake?

most Gundams needed small mcguffens to activate them initially, thusly we need the mcguffen to activate The Gundam, where upon the plot will provide us the required angst to amateurishly pilot The Gundam.

let us examine it's workings. We might be able to find a secret circuit layout that will exponentially improve our new computer!
>>
>>24626714
We will ogle at the beautiful engineering that went into this amazing mobile suit.
>>
>>24626808
The mobile suit is pretty damn amazing. Your not an expert, but you are a fan of mobile suits and this looks way better than any of the current suits you've seen. It might even preform better.
>>24626751
>>24626762
>>24626776
Examining the controls you find the layout is the same as most standard mobile suits. Pressing the button on the side of the pilot seat the cockpit door closes. Using your phone as a light you push the start up button for the Gundam's computer which boots up like any computer would.

The screens in the cockpit flash and remain blue for a minute before going to a boot screen. After a few seconds of waiting the screens switch to their camera view and the mobile suit starts up.
-Systems Operating at 100%-
-Generator Output Normal-
-Combat Memory Module Missing. Onboard Combat Assistance Computer offline, please install Combat Memory Module or substitution to activate it.-

You check the controls and realize the suit seems to be working fine. Whatever the "Combat Assistance Computer is" it's probably optional.

So you got the suit started up, what are going to do with it now?

>>
>>24627016

Computers tend not to work at optimum capacity if they are missing parts. It would be prudent not to 'test' the Gundam if it is missing a component. Especially since it is liable to control the safeties on the weapon systems. The last thing we want is to get expelled for accidentally destroying half of the Museum due to 'test firing' the Gundams main weapons into it...

You decide not to crash through the side of the building, even though there is a perfectly good MS sized service exit they probably used to get the suit in there in the first place. Your parents probably wouldn’t be happy if you were arrested for busting down the wall screaming “Oh yeah” or something.

Instead you take a better look at the systems of the suit and mess with the controls. You can’t really look at the electronics of the suit unless you had the time and tools to open the suit up, but you pop off some of the panels on the control dashboard and gaze around. The components are of a very high quality and it definitely beats the layout of the Genoaces controls, even though your Dad only let you look at them for a second he wasn’t fond of you trying to dismantle his Genoace in front of his superiors.

You figure out what kind of hardware the Gundam has. Its communication and sensor systems are bitchin; it’s got a long range transmitter and receiver that can pick up communications up via radio, microwave or laser transmission. It can even filter out white noise interference to a point from what the options are in the equivalent of the Gundam’s BIOS. Its visual sensors has inferred, night vision and even ultra violet sensors.

The controls come to you rather quickly, you know how to switch to secondary cameras, zoom in, work the comm systems and other basic things. You also have an idea of how to move the suit.
>>24627206

You have no goddamn idea what the combat computer does or what it could possibly be tied into. You do know it needs a storage device to some kind to be used, inferring that it collects data or needs programs to run. It’s like having a processor with no hard drive. The capability is still there, but with no hard drive you can’t do anything with it. Since it mentioned a “Substitute” if the CMM wasn't available so it’s possible all it needs is a large storage device of some kind. Despite not knowing what the CAC does, you do know the weapons going off isn’t going to be an issue. After checking the systems a few times you realize the Gundam has no weapons outside of the “Excalibur” which is probably referring to the large ass sword sitting on the suits back.

You decide to take a break and look at the photo's you took when you see the time. You just spend 6 god damn hours looking through the suits systems! At least it wasn't 12 like the time you missed your own birthday party trying to build a server in your basement.

You only have an hour before your class leaves to go back to school.

After going through the Gundam’s systems and spending another 6 hours looking over everything you finally manage to you figure out the “Combat Memory Module” is probably just a storage device, otherwise the suit wouldn’t have ‘substitute’ as an option. After discovering that the sensor and communication hardware is a lot more advanced they you thought it was, you realized that he “Combat Assistance Computer” is probably an onboard system set up to assist the pilot in combat, maybe with targeting systems or enemy detection, things like that. Why it needs the equivalent of a Mobiel Suit hard drive caused you a lot of confusion, but eventually you realize unit collects combat data for future reference or analysis. It’s not just a combat computer. It’s a learning computer. If you had the time and the hardware, you could probably just install a memory unit off a server core, a 20 TB one would work fine, but a 300 TB one would probably be the better idea. Not that you have the money to get anything like that, but it’s good to know isn’t it?
>>24627816
>>24627941
Deciding you want to complete the god damn suit you just spend 12 hours looking over, you lower yourself from the cockpit and look through the display cases and exhibits looking for anything you might be able to use.

You stop at one case with a tiny device sitting inside. The display reads "Unknown Device"
"This device was found at one of the oldest residents in the city, rumored to be once home to a family of great engineers. Sadly nothing appears to be on the device to indicate this is true, however it's design and it's unusually large data capacity suggest this may not be entirely impossible".

You look at the device, remembering a groove in the front of the cockpit dashboard that might fit it (you thought it was just a convenient place to put your phone).

Despite handling the case like a god damn ape no alarms go off, probably because the display wasn't locked. No wonder they had the area closed off, nothing was finished."This is so awesome! It's like something out of Super Mobile Wars!." You take the the 'Plot Device' since that's what it feels like and return the suit.

After getting inside and shutting the cockpit you plug the unit into the groove and wait for something to happen. But nothing does. You take the device and look it over. Opening the back you discover the insides a shot, probably from water damage. You pull out a small, crystal looking chip. "This looks like the memory card on my phone..."
You pull out your own cellphone and look at the connectors used on the 'Plot device' and your cellphone. Their very similar and so are the memory chips. If you swap out the chip in your phone it might work, or it might end up destroying your phone and the memory unit.

As much as you’ve dreamed of the moment where you could grab the controls of a mobile suit and push into combat to defeat evil doers, you’re not stupid. You barely know how to operate the mobile suit and even against a Desperado you’d probably get your ass whooped. You lock the cockpit door with the press of a button and watch as the Formatting bar moves like a god damn snail across the screen.

You decide to turn on the external audio sensors and put the comm system on ‘receive all channels’. You begin to pick up what the men are saying.

“Why the hell aren’t we grabbing more stuff?”
“Because we were told to grab the Shield, that Crossbow thing and that Bearded Mobile Suit, seriously it looks like Fu-Man-Chu”
“Who?”
“Oh, never god damn mind, just get someone to put the thing onto the trailer”

You hear a man begin to climb up to the cockpit and try to open it. You switch cameras and watch as he tugs at the emergency release.

“Boss it’s not opening!”
“Are you god damn kidding me? Fine. Tony! Lug that thing over to the trailer and set the shield and crossbow in its lap so we can get the fuck out of here."

“Can do boss!”

The Desperado walks over to your Gundam and stands in front of it. Putting the shovel across it’s back it grabs your Gundams by the waist and lifts it up. You barely have time to force the safety straps over your shoulders as the construction MS lifts the Gundam over its shoulder. You remember that If there’s one thing the Desperado isn’t lacking, it’s lifting power.
It sets you down and you’re jerked around in the seat as the Gundam is set into the trailer. Once the shield and Crossbow are set on top of your suit, the suit is strapped down onto the trailer with wires. Then the trailer begins to pull out, driving down the road...

You decide to wait where the criminals are taking you before you bust out. Not that you could if you wanted too,the loading bar is moving slower then dial up internet.

After what seems like ages the trailer and the Desperado following it come to a large set of doors. You have to mess with the camera view to get a good look due to the Gundam being on it's back but you recognize them as the space dock ports. You let out a sigh of relief as a pair of security guards come from a checkpoint nearby.

"Hello officers, can we help you?" One of the criminals say.

"It all depends on how much your willing to pay"

"200"

"Then we don't have a problem."

The guards walk off like they didn't see a damn thing. You look at the loading bar and see it's at 90%, but it'll take at least another 10 minutes for it to load.

The trailer and desperado pull forward, the massive doors opening up to a large elevator which takes them up to the space port.

"Once we have this thing on the ship we'll take it to the meeting place." One of the criminals, who appears to be the leader says.

"I don't know boss, that guy was fucking creepy. Did you see that suit that was with him? It looked like one of those-"

"I don't give a shit. He's offering a lot of money, besides we have those 5 Shaldolls we bummed off of Madorna. If he tries anything we'll blow him to fucking bits"

That does not sound good. All you can do is sit and hope the formatting doesn't take longer then you think.

FUEL LEVEL at 1%
It comes to your attention that whoever stored the suit probably trained all the fuel out of the engines. Most MS engines use plasma engines, once you fill up the tank your good for about a solid week before you have to refill it. However with 1% fuel you’ll have very limited usage of your engines before their totally trained, if the computer isn’t just picking up fumes. You watch the formatting bar crawl across the screen, listening to the criminals talk amongst themselves. From what you can understand they are pirates and have been hired to steal a certain suit and it's weapons. By the time they bring you to the loading hanger the formatting bar is at 99%.

The Trailer screeches to a hault however as a large black MS stands between them and the final door to the ship hanger.
"Hello Gentlemen, It's me your faithful customer. I see you delivered on the goods" Mr. Mano says from the suits speakers.

"W-what the hell? Why are you here?" The criminal leader shouts.

"I came to pick up early of course. You'll get paid as soon as you hand over the suit and it's weapons."

"That wasn't part of the deal!"

"Well I changed the deal. You'll still be getting paid, so what do you care?"

The criminals and Mr. Manos in the strange black suit continue to argue with one another. While they do so the loading bar hits 100%

A diagram of the suits parts flashes across the screen everything is operating perfectly.

A synthetic voice fills the cockpit.

You begin to browse through the operating system to see what has changed. However before you can get an in depth look the voice speaks up.

“I require data concerning our present situation”
At first you ignore it, lost in thought but then it speaks up again.

“Operator. I require data concerning our present situation. Gundam is restrained .”

You look around the suit and realize it’s the computer talking. You decide to explain what is going on, skipping how exactly you got into the suit in the first place.

“All targets in the general area are hostile then?”

“Yeah, I guess. But what are you?”

“I am the MADNUG: Macro Adjusting Dynamic Neural Utilizer Generalizer program for the Gundam Unit. Who are you?”

“I am Jake Crocker and I’d like to know how to pilot this suit.”

“If your piloting abilities are in question I can compensate various systems to compinsate, but here are the basic controls…” the program lists off the controls, giving you examples on how to do certain actions. (Piloting raised by 2%) (With MADNUG online, +40 Bonus to piloting skill)

"So what do you DO exactly?" You ask the computer hesitantly.

"My main function is to assist in the operation of the Gundam. I monitor systems, anaylze enemy data and can take over systems if the pilot cannot use them. My secondary unction is to collect combat data for the construction of new and improved weapons both from enemys and the pilots."

Before you can go into any detailed questions, the door behind the black suit opens up and five silver colored Shaldolls walk inside, armed with shields and spray guns.
“Your dead meat!” The criminals yell to the Black suit.
“I’m sorry, but you’re all going to have to die now” The Black Suits pulls its tail off its hind quarters and spreads its wings. Purple waves of energy spray out of them and propel the suit toward the ceiling. The Shaldolls open fire with their spray guns but the suit begins to bounce around the room, seemingly playing with its enemies.
While they are distracted you grab the sword and the crossbow in the Gundams hands and get it to its feet. It’s difficult, but you can feel MADNUG compensating certain things so the Gundam doesn’t fall on its ass. The wires snap like raw spaghetti and the Gundam is now on its feet. You move over to the elevator, still having an awkward time with the controls.
“Hey, Computer, can you call up the elevator”
“My name is Madnug. But I will attempt to Tap into the local network…elevator already on its way up. ETA, 8 minutes”
You curse to yourself, forgetting how long it took to get up to where you are now. The pirate Shaldolls battle on behind you. The only way out is through them and that's into the space docks where you'll be under Zero-G unless you want to wait for the elevator instead.

“Listen, Madnug is too long. I’m just going to call you Ma G from now on. Is that OK?” You ask the computer as you nervously watch the fight.

You decide to stick near the elevator and wait things out. The Black Suit seems to be toying with the Shaldolls, pushing them around and dancing through their fire like it wasn't even there.

You think about the fuel level but realize it's Roughly 1%, it could have less. The computer doesn't have a exact measurement of the fuel in the tank. You could have an hour and 40 minutes worth or 3 minutes worth. It wasn't programmed to go below 1% in it's measurements. Besides your not sure of your abilities in Zero-G, even with Ma G compensating for your actions.

Suddenly the Black Suit throws it’s sword across the room, crushing the trailer and killing the criminals riding before throwing up its arms. “Play time is over now, you’ve entertained me long enough” Mr. Manos says as he unleashes a rain of beam blasts from the black suits palms down on the Shaldolls. The barrage cuts through the suits who attempt to naively block the penetrating attacks of the beam weaponry which eat through their defenses in seconds.
“T-that thing has BEAM weapons that strong?” You exclaim as the suit turns towards you.
“Hmmm, you aren’t with those ruffians are you?” Mr. Manos muses as the Black Suit approaches you.
“Elevator arrival in several minutes” Madnug states.
What now Jake?
>>
>>24630354
This guy is obviously even worse news than the pirates. Time to field test the Electromagnetic Crossbow to see how strong it is, stake this green haired punk rocker wannabee.
>>
>>24630354
Talk with him. Do anything that you can to buy time.

Once that elevator is here get the hell out of here.
>>
>>24630354
fire and advance on the Shadols and such. Suppress them until such a time as the elevator arrives. if we can't suppress them, retreat towards a more defensible position, covering with fire. When the elevator gets there, make it look like we're going for it, then blow a hole in the room and get the hell into space. they won't expect that.

we'd be vulnerable in that elevator, moving so slowly. they would have a single target in a confined space.

we'll get picked up by some military guys (who would definitely notice shit like we're about to do) and dad will bail us out. or we get arrested and tried for treason or some shit. either way, they don't get the gundam.
>>
>>24630354
"Well no, I'm not associated with them. Wrong place, wrong time, you know how it works. I don't suppose you'd just let me go. I left a roast in the oven and if I don't go home now I might burn it, and I don't think any of us want that to happen."

Keep talking, we can't take him in a fight, we're too inexperienced, we might be able to delay long enough to get out.
>>
>>24630354
One would assume fuel is measured in weight, not percentages, since that's critical for in flight fuel checks. Since we're not going out into spaaaace though, let's do something he'll never expect.
Jump down the elevator shaft.
>>
>>24630354

open communications. attempt to gain insight into who he works for, why this Gundam is so important, ect, ect.

>>24630491
assuming that down is the direction of travel as opposed to up, jumping the elevator is a good contingency...

“S-stay back! I’m not with those guys!” You raise the EM Crossbow at the Black Suit, ready to fire it. The black suit stops mere feet away from its sword which sticks out of the floor still skewered through the remains of the trailer that brought you here.

“Oh? You sound young, who are you?”

“I-I’m one of your students Mr. Manos!” You say, your hands begin to start shaking.

“Oh how unfortunate.” He says with a chuckle.

“Please, just let me go. Wrong place, wrong time, you know how it works!”

“I suppose so…” He says, appearing to mull over the situation.”

“Why are you doing this? What’s so important about the Gundam?” You ask, trying not to sound like your about to shit yourself.

“Why? You obviously have no idea the power of that suit or the people who made it do you?
There is a newer Gundam, apparently the data from that one wasn’t completely lost. My comrades will probably just end up destroying it, so it’s a priority I get you back in one piece. Tell me, have you restored the systems on that Gundam young man?”

“Y-yeah! Good as new. Even got the Combat Assistance Computer up and running!” You try to sound happy and cheerful.

“Oh? Well that’s a shame. Your biometrics have probably already been locked in. It was a standard in the old suits. However even if that wasn’t the case you know who I am, and I don’t know exactly who you are. You’ve seen my suit and seen the Gundam. I can’t allow you to leave. Since your probably just stalling to get onto the elevator how about I stab your cockpit, bleed you out like a pig and get this over with?”

“How about you fuck off and die!” You fire the EM Crossbow, sending a bolt across the room at insane speeds. Mr. Manos walks forward, expecting the bolt to do nothing but it hit and penetrates the left shoulder of his suit, going straight through and hitting the wall behind him.
“YOU LITTLE SHIT.” He screams yanking the tail sword out of the ground.
Firing the suits thrusters you fly backwards, crashing through the gate and dropping downwards like a 50 metric ton rock. You fire the thrusters to slow your descent but you are going pretty damn fast the Gundam lands on the elevator pad. There is a sound of screeching metal and cables snapping. The elevator begins to drop, going faster and faster and faster as it sails downwards.
>>
>>24630706
You are now on a falling elevator with a madman in a black suit chasing said falling elevator and trying to kill you.

What now Jake?
>>
>>24630706
I WARNED YOU ABOUT ELEVATORS BRO, I TOLD YOU!

fire at the dude if he's still there. if he isn't. is our sword metal? if so, stab it through the elevator's side. if not, stab our left arm through the elevator's side to slow our descent as we approach the ground. how far up are we btw?
>>
>>24630717
Tell Mag to calculate when we're going to hit the ground and hit the thrusters at the last second. Aim the crossbow up the shaft in case Mr. Manos tries to follow us down.
>>
>>24630717
Laugh loudly. This is just a dream. Clearly we can do anything if it's a dream. Then start shooting at the man.
>>
>>24630706
Emergency comms to tell whoever's down below to gtfo.
Make with the physics and see if the sword is as good against the elevator floor as the gun is against Manos. If yes, slice a section through, we can a: Use it for cover, b: Go down faster, c: Shoot the bastard as he's going through said hole/making a new one.
>>
>>24630717
Grab the black suit's head and smash it against the elevator shaft as it's travelling at high speeds.

(Hmmm, the exact distance escapes me. I don't think the exact dimensions were ever given to a space colony before. Do any of you know? The elevator runs up long the back wall of the colony, about half way up to the center where the docks are located. I'm gonna probably give a bullshit answer for how long it's gonna take for us to drop. Also forgive me if I'm making anyone who knows proper physics want to kill themselves, I'm not trying to do it intentionally)
>>24630765
"Mag! Can you tell me how long it's going to take us to hit the ground?"

"2 minutes 14 seconds."

>>24630737
Excalibur is metal alright. A 16 meter long great sword. You could probably stab your sword into the wall to slow the elevator down, but considering your not attached to the elevator wouldn't that just cause you to stop?

>>24630888

"Mag, how faster is that black suit going?"

"It's trying to match the speed of the elevator, but will not make that velocity in time"

"OK, so If I suddenly stopped it wouldn't be able to stop in time to catch me, right?"

"It is unlike that the suit would be able to stop in time to not crash, much less catch you"
>>24630765

The black suit has been chasing you and now begins to fire down shots at you, you fire back with your cross bow, missing as he weavers back and forth, the Black suits wings coming mere feet from hitting the shaft.

Lots of options, what which one to choose? You have a minute left,

A) Wait till the last two seconds, fire your thrusters and stab your sword into the wall, hopefully that Black suit can't stop and will crash
B) Fire your thrusters and hop up to slow yourself down and let the elevator crash without you. Fire at the Black Suit to try and kill the SOB.
C: Cut a hole in the floor with the Excalibur and outrun the elevator. You had no idea if your'll be able to pull up to fly out the exit instead of smashing into the ground.
>>
>>24631014
>A) Wait till the last two seconds, fire your thrusters and stab your sword into the wall, hopefully that Black suit can't stop and will crash

This seems like a good plan.
>>
>>24631014
>A) Wait till the last two seconds, fire your thrusters and stab your sword into the wall, hopefully that Black suit can't stop and will crash

Might work.
>>
>>24631014
Well, I suggested C since we can just blast through the colony exterior and let the elevator be the emergency seal, but assuming the Gs we're pulling aren't going to kill us, I'll take A.
>>
>>24631014
A) Wait till the last two seconds, fire your thrusters and stab your sword into the wall, hopefully that Black suit can't stop and will crash

And then we stab him with our fuckhuge sword. Or shoot him if the sword is still stuck in the wall. This plan is perfect.
>>
>>24631175
problem with c.... colony getting the air sucked out. that kinda sucks.

i think if we could stop quickly though, and while he is turning to move up, we might have a clear shot, or could use the sword to strike him while he closes in.

“Hey Mr. Manos! Do you know Newton’s First law?” You yell up to the man trying to gun you down as you lock the EM Crossbow in place on the Gundam’s hip and pull out the Excalibur.
“No I can’t say that I do, but does it really matter?” He snarls at you.
“Actually it does. Here, let me give you an example…” You fire thrusters of the Gundam and fly at the Black suit, Excalibur in hand. Just as the Black suit readies its own sword, you leerch to the right and slam the Excalibur into the wall. The cockpit violently, Mag thankfully makes sure the Gundam doesn’t lose grip of the sword.
Your speed drastically drops and you come to a screeching halt, sparks flying from the wall as the Excalibur cleaves through it, the Black Suit flies past you with 2 seconds till impact.
“An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an outside force, BITCH!” You yell down as you watch the black suit sail downwards. You can only imagine the look on Mr. Mano’s face as he sees the crashed elevator rushing up at him.
The Black Suit hit the ground and is crushed like a tin can, exploding upon impact. You sit there, clinging to the sword that is stuck in the wall, listening to the thunderous beat of your own heartbeat. After a minute of waiting you let out a sigh of relief.
“Minor damage to arms, strain from stopping fall caused some internal damage. Advise repair as soon as possible” Mag states in her calm, synthetic voice.
“Sure…can do…” You mutter, looking down at the black smoldering wreck that was once your substitute teacher.
The pirates are dead, you killed your substitute teacher (well technically he killed himself) but you are no longer being chased and hunter. You are piloting a Gundam someone wants very, very dearly.

You decide to try and find a good place to hide the suit. I mean it's a Gundam for petes sake you don't want to lose it. Maybe back at the museum where it belongs. However you should really call your dad about the whole situation.

"Mag? You wouldn't be able to make phone calls would you?"

"Yes I can."

You give Mag your Dad's number as you begin to make your descent downwards as slow as possible using the Gundam's thrusters.

"Hello?" The familiar sound of your dad's voice comes over the speakers of inside the cockpit.

"Dad? Listen it's your son Jake, your not going to believe what happened to me..."

"I'm a little busy son, there was just an explosion at the loading elevator to dock number seven I'll have to call you back."

"No! Dad you don't understand, I caused the explosion!"

"Wait...WHAT DID YOU DO THIS TIME!?!"

You touch down, crushing the already annihilated remains of the Black Suit as you step out of the elevator shaft and into the streets, where a dozen Genoaces, including your Father's customized one is waiting.

"You have a lot of fucking explaining to do young man" Your father grows over the speakers.

So Jack, what do you do now?
>>

"Ifixedthegundamthensomeonetriedtostealitandthenmysubstituteteachertriedtokilleveryone."

"Dad, it's a long and complicated story, but in short some bad people, organized crime for my evil Substitute Teacher, who was probably a terrorist. He backstabbed them,. I got the Gundam online and stopped them from taking it and using it for nefarious deeds.

As for why I was in it in the first place, I was bored, it looked cool, and it wasn't working, it was missing a few important bits, so I decided to fix it.

I'm grounded aren't I?"
>>
>>24631681
Gah, messed up the first sentence.

"Dad, it's a long and complicated story, but in short some bad people, organized crime I believe, stole this Gundam from the museum for my evil Substitute Teacher, who was probably a Terrorist."
>>
>>24631680
i like this one, mostly because of how terrifying this must all be now that its over and that our dad is grilling us on it
>>
>>24631680
You then have Mag proceed to send over the engagement logs to your father who sends them to his superiors.

He lets out a sigh and speaks. “You’ll have to come with me son. My superiors want to have a word with you.

“Am I grounded?”

“If you’re not sent to prison, yes…but good job out there.”

Your Dad and the 9 other Genoaces lead you through the streets and into the Federation base where you are led into a hanger. You kneel the Gundam down and open the cockpit to get out, but not before taking your modified cellphone with you.

Armed guards are waiting for you, but your father accompanies you to a room where several men in suits are waiting. You are forced to sit down and explain the whole ordeal to them in grueling detail. A couple of times your father and the other men seem impressed.

They leave with your father and you’re left to sit and think to yourself. After an hour or so your Dad comes back looking conflicted.

“Alright I have good news and bad news Jake. Bad news is despite stopping wanted pirates and someone who was likely a terrorist of sorts, my superiors still want to press charges for a lot of the stuff you did. However…”

“Yeah?”

“They’re willing to forget everything if you do
something for them”

“What do they want me to do?”

“They want you to catch a Mutineer by the name of Grodek Ainoa. You and I will be sent on the Darwin Class vessel Armstrong to pursue them. If we catch them then all charges will be dropped and if you do a good enough job you’ll be able to become a fully-fledged pilot in the Earth Federation military once you come back, if we don’t then both of us will go to jail.”

“Why do they want me to do it?”

“Well you’re the only one who can pilot the Gundam. I offered to go in your place, but it’s locked to your biometrics, no one but you can use it. So, what do you say? Jail or Adventure? Either way mom is going to be pissed."
>>

Damn so much for going pirate/freelance. Going military is gonna be boring and tedious as hell inbetween very short periods of ' I am gonna die' despite what everyone wants you to think. Once were done we are gonna need to look into building ourselves a secure server and acquiring a ship.

"Sure, once we're on board. We have a 28 hours to get ready. So we should head home, tell Mom, Rest up and pack our things"

"I think you left out the part were Mom kills us." You say, managing a smile.

You spend a half an hour doing research on your Gundam. You find very little however, the details you know are the details everyone knows. It showed up during the massive battle at the Gaia Colonys and brought an army that kicked everyones asses. After that it showed up at several other battles, helping the Earth Federation to stop the fighting. No information is left regarding who piloted it or what happened to it after the Silver Chalice Treaty. You do know who made it through. The Asuno Family, once a large family of engineering genius who were once renown for their master craftsmanship, before the entire family was slaughtered when the U.E. attacked Ovan. Apparently one member of the family survived, but only Federation authorities know his location.

Flipping open your cellphone you scrawl through the data on it. It’s giving you a live feed of the status of your mobile suit. It’s currently being worked on. Turning off your phone you climb into bed and fall asleep almost immediately. Ready for the adventure to be had tomorrow...

Aboard the Diva, Captain Grodek stares at his computer screen with a calculating expression. The pictures of the "Old Gundam" are on it along with several federation reports on it.

"That Gundam will be our enemy? So be it. No one will stop me from my mission. Not even the savior who ended the great war. Your time has passed Gundam, a new savior has arisen and I assure you...I will not let you stop me"

Well I got to call it a night guys. Thank you so much! You have been god damn awesome! I'll be back tomorrow around 12:30-1:00 Eastern Standard Time.

I have everything saved for reference later. Do you have any suggestions on how I could put this somewhere for others to reference later on?

Any thoughts on how I did on my First Quest?

I'd say you did pretty well. The beginning was pretty slow, but once the action started things really picked up.
As to how to save this there is either the archive or a google documents file that you can use to save the story. You'll have to do your own research on the google docs thing.

You did a pretty solid job for your first quest, the only improvement I could suggest is cutting down on some of the unnecessary breaks like "teacher a little late, wat do". After we got into the actual plot, everything was solid.

We should probably get the thread archived for future reference

Thanks, I'll try to keep that in mind for next time.
Alright. How do I get the threat archived?

Head over to the suptg archive and click the button under Add Thread, and then follow the instructions. Take the other archived thread as an example of how to tag if unsure.

It is finished! Thank you so much everyone. Hope to see you tomorrow. This is only the beginning...

Might want to keep the description to just the events that occurred in the thread. In this case just keeping the second sentence would suffice.
That's it from me see you next time.
