This quest has been going for almost a year, dear comrade. Simply it is quite slow and because of that target group is composed only of extra patient decorated veterans.

But if you have the patience to join us and you will not be overwhelmed by our fluff(there's a TON of it) - here are some useful links:

Okay so we wanna finalise removing our forces from Kruun, last time we went for withdrawing slowly over a few weeks to allow the IG time to take control of everything. Be sure to inform the Imperial Guard that the prisoners are receiving their supply drops from unmarked dropships in the mountains.

Message Dreidor and Harmantos:
>Captains, I value both of your opinions very highly, but I have decided that it is most important to pacify Tartarus station as soon as possible, and I am willing to risk the possibility of the Kruun penal colony being overrun in order to destroy this nest of scum and heresy before it strikes harder at the Imperium it has already assaulted.

Message to Admiral Tyrel Hagen:
>Lord Admiral, I humbly request your assistance in the pacification of Tartarus station in Sub-sector Tyranus. Recently I boarded the station to retrieve and important agent of the Imperium, only to be attacked by the scum within, as they believed said agent had large quantities of money. I believe that, given they have openly assaulted men of the Imperium, we should strike at them as quickly as possible, execute their leadership, and show them hostilities towards the Imperium will not be tolerated. For now that they have openly defied the Imperium, I fear they will expand their piratical operations to include Imperial worlds and vessels. Thank you for your time. - Chapter Master of the Ghosts of Retribution.

Head to the Grand Economica and see if we can procure additional contracts for Vardan gas, along with how much money we'd have to invest in order to reach said contract amounts.

Ask Averon Birg for a list of possible investments.

Head to St. Evangelions' Cathedral and ask the Emperor for forgiveness for our past sins:
>Father, I have strayed from the path of righteousness, I have betrayed friends, I have exposed my mind to the whispers of chaos, but I have only ever wished to do what is truly best for the Imperium and my Chapter, I ask for your guidance.

Armoury[level V]: These are the gigantic hangars dedicated to the Machine God. Techmarines guard these halls with stoic suspicion of anyone who doesn't know the ways of Omnissiah. All the war machines, tanks, armour and weapons are kept here when not in use. At the current level of development Armoury provides facilities to make any repairs to all kinds of vehicles and armour, constructing new vehicles and armour from STCs, and developing new Power Armour designs and reconstructing old ones.
===
As you enter the dark vaults of the Armoury, one of your best techmarines, Simmer, approaches you with a smile:
>An honour, milord. How can I help you? Is it about that brawl with Sarkos? I thought it was settled...
You explain him that you are not exactly sure what brawl he has in mind, but you are interested in his services as a techmarine.
>Well, our fight was of... personal nature. If Sarkos hasn't told you anything, I don't I should either. We have settled our differences and now we are brothers once more. And regarding the weapons - I'd be delighted to attempt to improve your weapons, just tell me which item exactly you want to upgrade.

Armour Improvements are a priority I'd say.
Secondarily some boltgun upgrades would be nice, I'm thinking an auxiliary grenade launcher (versatile, almost always useful, not single-use like combi-weapons) and/or a scope to improve accuracy.

You receive a joint soulword from your forces on Kruun:
>As per your orders, we shall withdraw as soon as possible, estimated time - two weeks. With warp travel we can deploy our forces in Tartarus system within next 4 to 5 months, if Emperor wills it and no foul wind carries us away. However Harmantos requests to note for the record that he does not support this course of action as it will result in defeat or a pyrrhic victory for Imperial forces.

Tyrel Hagen's soulword comes almost within an hour after Astropath Nerial sent out your message to him. Nerial notes that this is a sign of good luck.
>Dear Chapter Master, I would agree to support you even just for the sake of our friendship, but this mission is indeed for the good of the Imperium and because of that I see it not only as my wish to help you, but also as my duty to the Imperium. What force do you estimate we shall need for this operation? I can come to Tartarus within next 6 months with my personal Heavy Cruiser Unbreakable, Frigate Exploring Spirit and two escorts - Drake and Wyvern. Mustering any more forces will require more time, as Imperial Navy is streched thin because of our current operations. What do you think?
===
You have an obligation to sell Vardan natural gas only to representatives of Merchant League until 430.M41. If you would expand your mining operations on Varda and would get more resource slots, it would be possible to gain additional contracts, but now output is limited.

>I may try to improve the way your power generator works, but then in order to make your armour lighter I may have to take off some armour plates. Underbarrel grenade launcher is easy, however those that we have access to are one-shot, reloading takes too much time. and unfortunately they have a tendency to misfire, sometimes with bad consequences...

>Maybe in a decade or two I will have enough skill to tinker with Tracker Occulus, it is a damn fine piece of technology that I would hate to damage through my inexperience. But regarding something to help with your psychic powers... Well, late Master Prinium was a man of golden hands, if I remember correctly, he was working on an improved psychic mantle for Anterion, may his soul rest in peace. I could try finishing it, if I'd succeed, it would be a great artifact that could help you to tame the warp. However there is a good chance that I will fail to comprehend workings of such a subtle device...

Both Vindicare and Psyk-out bullets require either having blueprints or good relations with organisations that possess them. Iron Haunt is a DAoT relic, too complex to upgrade by anyone apart from the best magos... and no matter how much you love you brother techmarines, even their skills are not enough.

>>24610954
Averon spreads out a dozen sheets of paper in front of you with various calculations and financial suggestions:
>At the moment I see only two options that are viable for us, milord. I haven't had enough time to research other options, but maybe something will come up later. I see these opportunities:

+Some noble from Barbaross Dynasty wants to build a trading station on Wladistan, he is seeking investment of up to 100W and promises 120% return in 5 years.
+Certain Viceroy from world of San Larion is attempting to alleviate famine that has been threatening his people, his financial advisors want a loan to build fishing industry. It's 50W, but they promise 200% return in 12 years.

As you approach the gates of St. Evangelions' Cathedral, a priest appears out of nowhere, climbs up onto a stand and starts shouting a litany of curses at you:
>Look at him! Look at him, heathen abomination! Look at him, oh brothers, look at him who betrayed his Father the Emperor! Thou were forged to fight for Humanity and what are you doing with power that was granted to you, you monster!? People, listen to me, listen! There are Angels in the skies who protect us and die in our stead, but it is not this Angel, oh no! This is a fallen Angel, an Angel who has renounced his Father and who does not believe in the Immortal God Emperor!
People around seem to be startled and confused, but more and more of them start throwing angry looks at you, while just minutes ago they were kneeling as you walked past. Someone with a few drops of sense shouts out from the back of the forming mob:
>How do you know!? He bears mark of the Angels!
Preacher laughs and answers with a self-righteous smile:
>I am an Iron Monk and I need no proof for his crimes apart from the fact that he has commited the worst atrocity imaginable - he does not believe in the Emperor! Or does he? Do you believe in the Emperor, you fallen Angel? If you do so - kiss my ring, a symbol of Ecclesiarchy, Mother Church who speaks in His Name. For if you do not, you are nothing but a heretic...

Renard leans to your ear and whispers:
>Milord, crowd is getting aggressive. They are not a threat, but if we spill blood here, on the steps of Cathedral, it will not end well...

It seems you earned just enough this year to pay for the book. Must have been some mining accidents that lowered income.
>>24613224
You look a lot better in the eyes of the Imperium as your sins are being slowly forgotten.
>>24613212
Varda now has 630 thousand inhabitants. A nuclear warhead or two could kill them all, but it's a lot better than an ork infested jungle that you found here twenty years ago.

Your captains and Chapter Council have gathered around a table to discuss your assault on Tartarus, if it is to happen. At current moment you feel that most of the marines don't feel the need to attack the station, however Captains Dreidor and Brethorius stronly support your opinion, while Captain Quintor and Lord Navigator Synius do not support this endeavour at all. What are your plans?
>>
>>24613451
Lets visit the Iron Warriors we made.
>>
>>24613451
Is there any new information on the station?

As you have no new spies there and none of your allies visited it during this time - no, you know nothing new.
>>24613487
As you enter the secret quarters that are reserved for your 'special' squad of new marines created from Iron Warriors geneseed, leader of the squad, thick-set man named Argus salutes you:
>Milord! Why did we deserve the honour to be in your presence? It has been nearly a year since you last visited us! We are training as ordered, isolation and lack of open field conditions is taking it's toll, but I believe that we've made significant progress. Do you have any orders for us?

Argus and his squad, another 9 marines approaching full maturity, are standing in front of you at ease, unarmed. You know that Renard and other Shadow Guards are standing behind your back, waiting for one word from you to finish off all of these unsuspecting specimen. You cannot make up your mind whether this project is a disaster waiting to happen or an unearthed goldmine, but you realise that you cannot ignore your secret project any longer. What do you do? Kill your brothers or let sons of traitors live?

Please vote now. Only votes in the thread will count.
>>
>>24613835
Let them live.
>>
>>24613835
Alright.
I ask of the team to choose their three best unarmed warriors.
We will fight.
>>
>>24613854
And by "We will fight" I mean we'll have some unarmed sparring.
>>
>>24613835
So long as they show no signs of betrayal or corruption I vote let them live and continue the project
>>
>>24613835
I wish for them to live.

I don't want them alive.
But I don't want to kill innocent men.
They never should've been made in the first place.

Is it a vote for letting them live?

Or do you want to test/humiliate them? Your elite bodyguard can easily defeat these newly born brothers, Sulix alone could probably beat up all three of them. If you wish to make it 3x3, roll d100 against 80, i'll roll d100 against 30.

The fact that they had Iron Warriors geneseed doesn't make them supermen.

And with what you're saying, It'll be CM against all 10.

Skip the fight. It really has no point. If we lose to a bunch of newbies it hurts our reputation and beating up on neophytes will not gain us anything and might bring attention to them.
>I simply came here to say that I--no, the Chapter--is proud of the progress you and your men are making. Do not let your circumstances shake your faith. Remember, as Adeptus Astartes our first duty is to the Emperor and Imperium. And only in death does our duty end.

Return to our battle planning.
>At current moment you feel that most of the marines don't feel the need to attack the station
Brothers, I remind you of the Emperor's Crusade. He did not stop to question when a new world with humans was encountered. What mattered most was to bring all of mankind under one rule. This space station has strayed from the Emperor's light and it is our duty, as a continuation of his Crusade, to bring it back under the rule of the Imperium, lest it become a haven for the xenos, the witch and the heretic.

You decide to spar them while you are making up your mind. As you call out Argus to attack you, thinking about how you'll teach them a few new moves through correct application of pain, you are suddenly zerg rushed by a squad of young marines who are damn eager to prove themselves and bear no reservations about using their force. You break nose for one of them, kick another in the knee, spin third one into the wall, but the rest of them force you to the ground and within a minute since the fight started you are on the ground, held down and unable to move. Renard looks stoic as ever, but Targos and Sulix can't help but laugh at your embarrassment. Argos helps you to stand up and smiles:
>You shouldn't have picked the kind of challenge that we are best at, there's too little space here to do anything here apart from close quarters fighting, so we have become masters at all kinds of melee fighting styles. It's not a shame to be beaten by ten of us.

What do you do?
>>
>>24614188
We enter Space Wolf mode.

>laugh
>clap hand to his shoulder
>Well met brothers. I see you are taking your training seriously! You will make worthy warriors for the Emperor.
>>
>>24614188
Your team work there was good, however you should focus on protecting your team mates, not just killing the enemy.
Imagine if [Insert the name of the one we broke the nose of] had instead of had just gotten his nose broken had taken a bolter round to the face, and [insert the name of the one we kicked] had been taken by a grenade.
I would like for you ten to begin working on close combat tactics as an inseparable team of ten, you've all done well during this time, next time I face you it will be three against you ten.

You feel that atmosphere in the room is uneasy despite your good arguments. Finally, Synius opens his mouth:
>Warp is not favourable to your plans, milord. I am not the one to disagree with your strategical wisdom, but we are about to move a medium sized fleet here through the tides that are uneasy. We could wake up something by chance.
Quintor nods:
>Synius is right. Also - what is there to gain for us from this mission? Even if we beat their navy - Tartarus itself is a fortress station, built and rebuilt over decades to withstand any attack from outside. We will have to either infiltrate it and fight a bloody way to their leadership or to destroy the station. But if we do so - what will we gain? Our Chapter is getting stronger, but Wrath has weakened us greatly, I dare not think what would happen to us if we would suffer another disaster like this. Every ship, every machine, every brother is important. And station itself is not an outright danger to the Imperium. It is true, they are heretics and they shamed us, but Imperium is not at war with them. Is it wise to waste blood on someone who isn't an enemy, even if he is a bastard?

>>24614149
Too late, sorry.
>>
>>24614257
Argus smiles again:
>Agreed, milord! But we have a question - we were wondering - what is our designation? How is our squad called? Even if we cannot openly meet our brothers and participate in the life of our Chapter - can we at least have a squad name, like others do?

+++

So, new squad lives. Please decide on their name and we'll go to sleep.

You are Void Squad.
To the enemy, you do not exist, to our Chapter, you only exist in your exploits, to the Imperium, you'll be the unsung heroes.
