What is important with air travel is being able to control the flow of people into and out of a country. A nation will not accept a foreign nation handling in-processing of travelers.
Have the International DoomPortal Network tied into international airports makes them much more palatable for national security agencies.

Imagine if China took control of the Portal to Taiwan; they could land a million Chinese troops on the island, bypassing all of the defenses that Taiwan has.

I thought that our freshman level magic classes would focus on protection, banishing, and warding. Once those are properly mastered, other magics may be attempted. One does not build a nuclear reactor without first installing proper shielding, one does not construct a castle without first building the foundation, and one does not learn to wield magic without first learning to protect oneself from it.

Before the opening ceremony, I want to try an experiment. Train our private observatory, even a normal telescope, on mars. Then have a small observation dome on Mars trained on castle Doom's observatory. Have Morgana look at MArs, then take her to mars and, after letting her look at Castle Doom from another planet, ask her to perform some minor magics, see how different the energies of Mars are to Earth.
