This is important. Sakura (along with Ayako and Issei) really get the 'muggle' perspective of Shirou Is Not Sane. And out of all of them, Sakura seems to be the one who's known Shirou the longest, as well as understanding what it's luike to be a fundamentally borken human being.

Reminding her that she keeps us on the level in a way no one else probably can is of huge value, to her sanity and our long-game plans of Everybody Lives and Everyone Is Happy.

Was at a bookstore about a month ago and found out that there was an extra chapter to The Once and Future King called "The Book of Merlyn" that was published separately. It's set the night before the Battle of Camlann, and I think Saber would understand more than a little of what Arthur's going through in it. A lot of asking what Arthur wanted to do with his life instead of being king. Heartbreaking stuff, at the end.

A single bead of sweat goes down the side of her face as she contemplates this. "I... see." She visibly calms her demeanor as she sees a waiter approach. Saber orders the Tofu, but Lancer manages to convince his Master not to share her fate. I order the least spicy thing on the menu, which unfortunately includes a rather large helping of peppers.

1. At the end of the last War, Kiritsugu used a Command Seal to order his Servant to destroy the Grail, despite showing a desire to get the Grail up until that point. He must have had a reason.
2. The Archer from the last War, whose identity is Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, is still around. We don't know how this is possible, but he was apparently close to the Grail when Kiritsugu ordered it to be destroyed. We don't know if he has a master, but he is working with Avenger at this point. He is apparently motivated by a desire to make Saber his wife. Saber, obviously, wants very much for this not to happen ever.
3. Avenger. Oh holy jesus fuck Avenger. As far as we know, he's a Servant with no Master, can create shadowy copies of other Servants, and can survive an exploding Gae Bolg to the face. We have no idea where the fuck he came from, but he's doing SOMETHING with the Grail.
4. Zouken said something's funky with the Grail; at the end of the last War he went looking for the fragments, but they were all inert. We have no idea what this means. But he helped build the damn thing so if HE'S worried about it then it must be important.
Unfortunately he decided to piss off Kirei, who is planning on murderizing him... right about now, actually. We're not sure he'll be successful considering Zouken ALSO survived a Gae Bolg to the face.
5. Ilya said something's funky with the Grail; Berserker cut his contract with her, and should have run out of prana and faded away by now, but hasn't returned to the Vessel like he should have.
6. Caster said something's funky with the Grail; she can't sense its energies at any of the possible summoning points. Or something.
7. Arcrueid was in town, said she sensed a vampire. We killed a vampire. It was pretty fucking weak, all things considered, so we're not entirely sure it was the same vampire. We have Arc's number so we can call her up if we spot another one.

To be fair, you'd have to ask either Grail-kun or Kirei. AC-Guy just took up the quest after it was abandoned because he was pissed they got us all excited and then left.

It's not like he could really up and go 'several years and continents distant' mid-plot. Besides, he's mentioned in passing having ideas for possible followup stuff that goes in new and interesting directions.

Plus, old concepts can be fun if played with in a new way and I think that between /tg/'s madness and AC-Guy's creative skill we've gone into completely unexplored waters by now.
