Welcome ladies and gentleman to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest! Last time on Succubus Lord Quest we had Brooklyn visit all of her friends to let them know she’s still alright. After that we had a short discussion between Miyu and Amanda before we retired to bed. After having a strange nightmare against a figure with nearly all of Brooklyn’s abilities, we woke up and had some words of encouragement from Amanda and Erika before heading to bed.

We now continue from where we left off!

Oh and if you have any more pictures of this character here, then by all means share! As I'm running out of worksafe one rapidly

“No... Amanda please...” you wince.

“Oh quite you big baby! You’ve been needing this for quite some time!” Amanda says as she continues without mercy.

“No please!” you beg. “I’m going to... Going to...!”

CRACK

“There! So much for that knot in your back!” Amanda says.

“Aaahhh... That’s much better...” you say giving a small sigh of relief. Despite the loud cracking sound in your back, it feels as if a large rod has been removed from your spine.

“I’ve been learning how to take over my family’s company as soon as I was able to learn.” Amanda says as her hands run over your shoulder blades, surprisingly having a stronger grip than you expected. “It’s one of the main reasons why I work at the front desk down below.”

“And the other?” you ask.

“Free child labour.” Amanda replies, her voice sounding tense but her hands still remaining strong and firm.

“So Lady Sara, what time do you wish to meet up with my sister?” Erika asks you, still in her freckled redheaded form.

“Hm... Lunch time seems about right.” you reply to Erika. “I have one more other important errand to attend to before that. Assuming you do not mind.”

“No. Of course not. This gives me a bit of time to prepare as well.” Erika replies.

“Are you sure you do not need any breakfast Lady Sara?” Amanda asks as she gets off of you.

“Thank you for the offer, but I assure you that I’ll be fine.” you say putting back on your bra. “You just giving me a place to stay for the night was the best thing I could’ve possibly done before my errands of the day would be started.”

“Oh please, the least I could do after your house was demolished. Are you sure you won’t be staying any longer?” Amanda asks you.
>>
[2/3]

“I may or may not. It depends whenever my other contact has managed to put things through on her end.” you say as you squeeze into your leather armour pants. “Either way, I should be able to let you know by lunchtime.”

“Alright Lady Sara. Please do take care of yourself.” Amanda says to you.

“Good luck Lady Sara.” Erika replies, still seeming to be half lost in thought.

“Luck is something that you’ll need more than I will Erika.” you tell her as you leave Amanda’s room.

******

Heading over to the Langy castle, you can see that there are a few differences. For one there appears to be a small mob out protesting at the front of the gate, calling for the Langy family to be overthrown and let the reign of the town go back to the people who some other demonic lord. Knowing these people, they probably have some other equally stupid ‘god’ of theirs lined up for the leadership of Fort Hope, but are not speaking it for fear of being executed.

The Royal guards let you into the castle once you mention your name, apparently they have been expecting you. As you walk through the castle, you can see that the signs of a small struggle in the castle that the servants are cleaning up. Suits of armour tipped over, some blood stained weapons on the ground, and not nearly as many people out wandering the castle grounds as you would normally expect.

The guards lead you up to a large door with two other guards currently standing guard next to them. One of them give a loud knock on the door before opening the door, “Lady Langy, your guest is here.”
>>
[3/3]

“Come in!” Ada’s voice can be heard through the door.

The guards push open the door for you both, entering in what appears to be a rather large study chamber. Rows of book seem to align the halls while the crisp scent of pine can be smelled in the air. Sitting behind the desk appears to be Ada in her Marina disguise, currently working on trying to make a dent in a rather sizable stack of papers in front of her.

“You may leave us be.” Ada says to the guards standing on both sides of you.

The guards give a small salute, turning around to walk outside of the study and closing the door behind you.

“I apologize but we won’t be having time for tea in this meeting.” Ada tells you without looking up from her papers. “The transition has worked, but when Langy retreated to his bunker he neglected all of his paperwork, which now I need to figure out. It appears even in death he still mocks.”
>>
Apologize that we don't have time to help and get to the point. She'll probably appreciate it if we don't bog her down.
>>
>>24560803
"That sounds remarkably unpleasant. I probably wouldn't be much help, though you might want to delegate some of this out. I know a guy who is good with bureaucratic matters.

On a side note would you mind quickly giving the Doctor permission to use the Alchemy equipment we picked up, it would both make dealing with all the injuries here easier, and Mina needs it for her arm."
>>
>>24560803
"No tea? Sad.

"Sorry to hear about all the paper work. I would offer some help but I have my doubts I would be in this situation.

"So... lets just cut to the chase, what's up?"
>>
[1/2]

"That sounds remarkably unpleasant. I probably wouldn't be much help, though you might want to delegate some of this out. I know a guy who is good with bureaucratic matters.” you tell Ada.

“Perfect. Tell me his name then I’ll see if I can put him to work.” Ada says as she signs a paper.

“Roger Everblight, he works at the local library in town. On a side note would you mind quickly giving the Doctor permission to use the Alchemy equipment we picked up, it would both make dealing with all the injuries here easier, and Mina needs it for her arm. His name is Dr. Gaterkin." you tell Ada.

“I’ll do it as soon as I’m able to Brooklyn. I should be able to get the papers all signed by the end of the night.” Ada tells you before giving a sigh. “I used up nearly all my aether with Langy and now I’m at the point where I’m seeing the guards as cups of Aeth Royale.”

“Aeth Royale?” you ask.

“A highly concentrated form of liquid aether often served as a fancy drink for Succubi or other creatures who can consume direct Aether.” Ada bluntly replies. “Now I’m sure you know why I summoned you here right?”

“About the Royal Magician and Royal Teacher jobs correct?” you ask.

“Well that and involving your little friend Leona.” Ada tells you.

“...She’s still alive right?” you immediately ask.

“Oh but of course. The Royal Guard killed the assassin that was sent after her shortly after Langy’s death. But it involves our little Paladin friend down below.” Ada says. “I’ve only learned just recently that she has apparently been talking to the Paladin as of recently.”
>>
[2/2]

“Oh lord...” you say sighing as you facepalm.

“I apologize Brooklyn, but I only found out recently myself.” Ada says. “I’m not privy to any more information than that.”

“And the demonic bodyguards?” you ask.

“One of the reason I’m so short handed. Apparently some of the nobles here were loyal to demon lords other than Articus, so they got loyal Royal Guard and set off on a task to kill them. Most died, I was going to present the rest of them as a present for Articus’s diplomats.” Ada says.
>>
>>24561358
"Oh dear. When it rains, it pours. Could I perhaps lend you a little aether? I am a little peckish, myself, but you will have fewer chances to get out, it sounds like."

We do have a little gas left, right?
>>
>>24561358
"It sounds like you're having a rough time, if you need my help I'm here for you.

As for Leona, me and Erika are planning on talking to her around noon, hopefully it'll go alright. I'll let you know how that goes.

And for the position, I would be happy with either, whichever one carries the least public responsibilities so I can go on trips and do my own thing. And I do need somewhere longterm to live. It's a good cover, keeps me close to the library, the delicious library that if it were a person I would ravish, and it's useful to have some authority to fall back on that people here recognize."

And I agree with >>24561427 give Ada a kiss, let her have some Aether, use tongue for the hell of it.

The sheet says we have 35% left, we can give her 10-15% and we'll get it back as we spend time in crowds and the like.
>>
>>24561358
hrm, any way we could make the paladin fall in a way that would make Leona question her beliefs
>>
>>24561522
hrm another idea, maybe we could use him, brainwash him to be loyal, but reveal a little false/not whole truth about how he worked with some demons us to do good

idunno, im outa idea, just seems like a slap in the face after the events of the past few threads and the fact that the erika/leona issue was always going to be hard, this kinda just threw all our plans out the window and pissed on them
>>
>>24561578
>brainwash him to be loyal
If we were going to do that we should have done that from the start. Plus I have my doubts we can do that to someone that's already brainwashed Read the guys faith. Personally, I just want this guy dead and be done with it.
>>
>>24561522
The dude's a rock as far as I can tell. It'd take far more time than we have to make him fall.
>>
>>24561621
>Personally, I just want this guy dead and be done with it.
me to, he used to be a nuisance, now he is just pissing on everything we touch, but we can't openly kill him, after leona has talked to him she may think things, and all that poisonous religion inside her pretty little brain might take things the wrong way and run with them
>>
>>24561656
It will all depend on how things go with Erika and Leona. If we can't talk one girl out of thinking that "All demons are evil! SMITE! SMITE!" We got bigger problems and our hands.
>>
"Oh dear. When it rains, it pours. Could I perhaps lend you a little aether?” you ask Ada.

“I thank you for the offer, but I’ll be fine for the time being.” Ada replies.

“As for the position, I would be happy with either, whichever one carries the least public responsibilities so I can go on trips and do my own thing. And I do need somewhere longterm to live. It's a good cover, keeps me close to the library, the delicious library that if it were a person I would ravish, and it's useful to have some authority to fall back on that people here recognize." you tell Ada.

“In terms of responsibilities, the Royal Mage is obviously the greater of the two. You’d be expected to be the defacto head for magic in the castle. In addition you’d be able to requisition any sort of ritual or alchemical reagent that you desire. The Head Professor of the castle will be expected to know a fair wealth of information in a wide array of fields, teach anyone in the castle who requests your services, and lastly be in charge of all the educational facilities of the young in the castle.” Ada says.

“I’d be able to access the family library either way right?” you ask.

“But of course, that and a place to stay in the castle. Just that each position has their own set of responsibilities.” Ada tells you. “You’d have a very wide berth of how to conduct your operations within the castle. So long as you make some attempt to accomplish your duties at the castle, then no one often cares what you do in your off time... Unless you care about going into the snake pit known as courtly intrigue.” Ada says as she sighs another piece of paper.
>>
>>24561694
The Royal Mage sounds like the better choice for me, magic in and of itself would very easily explain any strange goings on, and I can use to requirements of the position as an excuse for my travel.
>>
>>24561656
Maybe it's for the best that we've decided to talk to her now.
Erika said it would get much worse if we waited too long.
Perhaps that means that the paladin hasn't had enough time yet to indoctrinate her beyond reasoning.
>>
>>24561694
I say head Mage provided we can still have reign to live for a little while if need be. Ask her if its possible if we can start after we visit Old TO
>>
>>24561694
Start chuckling, then laughing, and almost start rolling on the floor.

"I am never getting into courtly intrigue, ever, I'll avoid that bullshit like the plague.

I think I'll go with Royal Mage, it means I can focus my studies on magic and any interjections in my life are under my control. Won't have to drop stuff to teach people. Also doesn't get in the way of travel.

Though if someone asks for a love potion I demand the right to smack them upside the head."
>>
>>24561694
Those both sound like way too much responsibility.
This is meant to be a short-term thing just to give us a house and a little income while we prepare to conquer the world.
>>
>>24561781
We can find someone to replace us I'm sure such as our party Mage from earlier if need be
>>
>>24561781
uh, when we're actually ready to take over the world, the position we're in are rather irrelevant, as we'll be promoting ourselves to a new job, until then, either of them are perfect.
>>
>>24561694
Why does the Royal Mage job sound so much better for what we need it for. The Head Professor job really only plus is the control of the schools. Where we could curve the knowledge in regards to Succubus to be more ... favorable. But free (I'm assuming free) reagents for both rituals and alchemical. Fuck. I take the Mage job just for that.

"I'll pass on the 'courtly intrigue' for time being, thanks. Honestly, how often does the Royal Mage get called upon here? I would assume not often. If so I'll be taking that one."

>>24561781
The Royal Mage might not have nearly as much responsibility as one might think. Just be the crazy mage locked in a tower for weeks on end. With sounds of weird experiments going on, nobody would want to talk to us.
>>
>>24561814
But we won't get to that position if we're spending all our time teaching little Langy kids instead of going preparing and taking over other towns.
>>
>>24561694
>In terms of responsibilities, the Royal Mage is obviously the greater of the two. You’d be expected to be the defacto head for magic in the castle.

You know, that doesn't sound nearly as onerous as the Head Professor job. What's the catch?
>>
>>24561865
Those aren't necessarily two separate things.
>>
>>24561694
royal mage gets my vote, moar majiks!
>>
>>24561865
Which is why we don't take the teacher position, and instead stick with the royal mage one, where our duties will be "practice magic, direct the other practitioners, and be the crazy coot who makes things explode in their tower" which translates to "it's our job to become powerful enough to take over the world."
>>
>>24561901
Yes they are. We need to actually leave the castle for long periods of time to take over other towns. We cannot teach whoever asks if we're not there for a month and therefore that would be a failing of our responsibility as Head Professor.
>>
Hmm, an issue if we take the Royal Mage job, is that if we take it as our Sara persona, we'd have to come up with lies about what we've been doing for money and why no one sees us often to our scholarly friends. And if we take it as Brooklyn, we'd have to explain to them why Lady Langy suddenly considers us an expert on magic.
>>
>>24561837
Upon thinking about this for a little bit more. If we do take the Royal Mage job. What do we do about Brooklyn's friends? They be wondering where he's staying at and what's his new job ... I guess we could say we're doing more private tutoring or something. Eh.

>>24561880
That's a good point. What is the catch. What does the Royal Mage do? I mean, yes, head of all magic sure. But what does that imply beyond that.
>>
>>24561941
When we're actually ready to take over other towns, our job will be irrelevant, when we're taking over other towns we do this thing called "quitting" and viola, no more duties. and it'll be just fine, because we'll be able to live off the income of ruling a town.
>>
>>24561977
We need to start taking over other towns NOW. Subtly. While having a job.
>>
>>24561998
Time is our friend for time being. We don't need to rush head long into these things. It will take time to start of the this little world take over. More than likely years. Not months or weeks.
>>
>>24561998
No, we don't, doing it now is just about the stupidest idea I've seen on this board.

We need to consolidate our power in this town, and gain more personal power so that when the demon lords take notice we'll actually have a chance to fight them.

As we are now we can barely fight a knight by ourselves.
>>
>>24562036
>to start of
>to start off
>>
>>24561998
Dude, we need to wait for things to stabilize at home before we go infiltrating other towns.
>>
>>24562036
I don't mean this second now. I mean the next thing on conquest checklist now.

>>24562037
Ada will consolidate power in this town while we go training in TO. Which is another thing that will take us away from our job for quite a while.
>>
>>24562093
Well when you caps 'now' it tends to imply this very second type of 'now'.

Yes, starting to expand our influence into other towns is indeed on our checklist and probably has been for some time.
>>
You begin to burst out laughing upon hearing the last bit of information that Ada gave you.

“...Is... Something funny?” Ada asks, apparently confused.

“Oh... Oh yes...” you say wiping your eyes. “No... No I’m never, ever getting involved with courtly intrigue. But still, the Head Mage doesn’t sound nearly as oppressive as the Head Professor. What’s the catch?”

“Well the catch is that you’d still be a magician of the court, meaning that at times you’d be required to perform minor magician services in interest of the Langy Family.” Ada says.

“Such as?” you ask.

“Well obviously the higher the noble the more they can request from you. Often times they may request information about how magic works, various minor magical favors, and other things.” Ada says.

“...If any of them ask for a love potion I reserve the right to smack them up the side of the head.” you reply to Ada after a few seconds.

“If the noble has rank on par with Leona, then they may be able to request such things.” Ada says. “If you get any requests to make or perform powerful magical actions, such as summoning a moderately powerful demon or things that would blatantly affect the mind and body of another person, then you are free to ask me whenever or not you should be able to continue or not.” Ada says.

“Would I be able to take some time off to head to Old TO?” you ask. “I’ve been meaning to go there for some time.”

“So long as you provide a two weeks notice, but of course.” Ada says. “I’ve been meaning to head there myself for a few things. So long as you're not away for longer than a year without you or someone to stand in for you, than it should not be an issue.”
>>
>>24562122
sounds like a good deal, Head Mage time HO!
>>
>>24562122
"Those terms are acceptable. If I start salivating looking at books in the library don't worry about it.

Hmm, should I take this job as Brooklyn, Sara, or someone new. Brooklyn would be nice, makes it so I don't have to go around convincing my friends I'm still alive, explaining why I suddenly know magic should be doable."
>>
>>24562122
"Can't I just be the crazed Mage in a tower that no one /wants/ to talk to?" Sigh.

"<insert wizards name here> should be able to handle some of duties when I leave and I doubt I'll be leaving until Mina's arm has been fixed at any rate. How long though ... I'm not sure of. I seemed to have a rapidly growing list of things I need to check on when at Old TO."
>>
>>24562237
Do you mean Uilodsir? I suppose he might fill for us occasionally in exchange for access to the library.
>>
>>24562357
Yeah, that or just hey you're getting fairly safe paying job.
>>
>>24562357
he could be our 'aide' or underling that we delegate to
>>
Who's the current head mage? Or was the last head mage if they're dead.
>>
"Those terms are acceptable. If I start salivating looking at books in the library don't worry about it.” you tell Ada.

“Very well then, congradulations on your promotion Ms. Head Wizard.” Ada says reaching across the table to shake your hand.

“Thank you! Though... should I take this job as Brooklyn, Sara, or someone new? Brooklyn would be nice, makes it so I don't have to go around convincing my friends I'm still alive, explaining why I suddenly know magic should be doable." you ask Ada.

“That will be your own call Brooklyn.” Ada says. “There is an advantage to using your Brooklyn identity for this, the same goes for a brand new one. However I’d suggest against the one you used when fighting the Poseidon or when you attacked Langy during this ritual. Too many witnesses saw you doing such things. Many of the former family are still loyal Articus, and when the Aritcus Diplomat comes over, they may tip off the diplomats that the person who attacked Langy herself has suddenly got a new job as the head magician.”

“...Oh wait a second, I’d be in service to Lord Articus too, won’t I?” you ask.

“...Technically yes you will be. If Articus wanted to call upon your services, he could do so easily, but why would he want the services of a backwater colony when he could call superior ones in Old or New TO?” Ada says. “At most, your name will be in a register of licensed mages within Articus’s records. Which will probably be buried in paperwork and quickly forgotton so long as people think you are mortal.”
>>
>>24562473
"Eh, it's not like the name Brooklyn means anything to anyone else. Makes life simpler to stay as Brooklyn.

Well, I'll let you get back to your mountain of paperwork, I'm going to get fresh air, sunshine, and not be stuck inside. Have fun dear."
>>
>>24562562
Isn't Brooklyn's father leading some kind of Magic Academy for the Church? Articus might, /might/, know of him which links to us. I find this to be unlikely but it's still a chance.
>>
>>24562629
He's probably so far underground that it isn't even funny, and worst happens we can say that he dropped out of our life X years ago and we have no idea what he's been up to since then.

It'll match up.
>>
>>24562672
Thought I just point that out is all. Even I think it's a small chance but it's still there.
>>
It kinda bums me out how you have co-opted Astaroth the way you have. Now I cant post her without people thinking it has something to do with this quest.

Saged for pointless whining.
>>
getting registered may be a deathtrap. Whats the process for becoming enlightened again? Thought for a moment it needed to involve the demons but remembered that adventures mostly are. I'd expect the registration process to be heavily monitored though since it may allow Arcticus to keep tabs on the more powerful entities behind those mages.

Have I entirely remembered something?

"Eh, it's not like the name Brooklyn means anything to anyone else. Makes life simpler to stay as Brooklyn.” you say as you get back up. “Well, I'll let you get back to your mountain of paperwork, I'm going to get fresh air, sunshine, and not be stuck inside. Have fun dear."

Ada gives a small, but oddly content sigh. “I’m far more comfortable being buried under a mountain of paperwork that I have rightfully earned than being chased down by a giant robotic demon killer.” Ada says to you. “You room shall be prepare at the end by the end of this evening. Oh yes, your lessons with Brothen will resume as normal come Friday.”

“...Really?” you ask Ada.

“Well you do serve the Langy family and he did ask for you by name.” Ada tells you.

You chuckle to yourself as you tip your hat as you walk out. “I’ll make an exception for him this once.”

******

You head on back to Amanda’s place after meeting with Ada, heading up to Amanda’s room only to see Erika nervously pacing back and forth while biting her nails.

“Has... She been doing this the entire time?” you ask Amanda.

“Pretty much.” Amanda replies.

“Yes! I’m nervous alright! I’m about to talk to my sister, probably woman so pure that she defecates sunlight, into that her sister is now the very thing her religion teaches her to not only hate, but to smite!” Erika says as she then grabs her tail and starts fidgeting with it. “I-I-I’m just so nervous... I-I-I don’t know how to bring it up! W-Will she disown me?! That very thought makes me sick... S-Should I go against Master Sebastien’s orders and take this stupid bandana off my eyes just for this one meeting!?”

Leona does love you so I'm sure it'll turn out alright in the end. We go in and give her a hug and sit her down then we start from the beginning, and tell her the whole story, not just the parts she already knows.

"Well I don't think he would really mind for just this meeting, you should both be able to look each other in the eye for this, it's important.

I don't have much in the way of advice, start with a hug, remember that you love her and she loves you, the rest is just details to be worked out. Other than that be honest, we'll start from the beginning, explain what happened, why it happened, answer any questions she has, and stay calm. She might get a bit mad, but you can work through it."

Give Erika a hug and a kiss on the forehead, try to get her to calm down.

Also, we are taking over making the tea at the meeting place, we are going to make use of the fact that we have Tea at Awesome!

so whats the bet that suddenly Leona has some magic and the paladin taught her to detect demons or something equally bad

"All I can say is do what you feel you must, what you feel is right for this. She is your sister you know her best out of everyone here. If looking into your eyes can convince her that you're still yourself then perhaps you should."

Next part is kinda debatable to me if we should.

"There is one thing I feel I should tell you that my contact found out . She has been talking to the paladin that had... aided us in rescuing you. About what I do not know. It seems my contact had only found about this recently also."

Who knows. Her faith was strong enough within her room to make us ill. I wouldn't be surprised by it in the least.

I'm slightly concerned about how Erika will react once she has taken her Bandana off as she has learnt how to see without her eyes, and switching back to normal sight may disorientate her.
Also, glowy eyes may or may not be involved...

otherwise, I second this >>24563301

Gods no! that would be terrible! It would require a hell of a lot more aether to turn an Enlightened being! and that is a delay that we cannot truly afford!

Who knows how faith powers work. Or just how much Aether one needs to cast some of the lower basic spells.

"First I don't think Sebastien would really mind for just this meeting, you should both be able to look each other in the eye for this, it's important.” you tell Erika.

“That’s... That’s a good point. This is an emergency, so I do not think Master Sebastien would mind all that much.” Erika says taking off her bandana once again. Her eyes squint at first before they widen up seemingly in shock.

“Is everything alright Erika?” Amanda asks.

“It’s just that everything is so... dull at the moment.” Erika says as her eyes blink. “A bit... disorienting but I’ll manage.”

“I don't have much in the way of advice, start with a hug, remember that you love her and she loves you, the rest is just details to be worked out. Other than that be honest, we'll start from the beginning, explain what happened, why it happened, answer any questions she has, and stay calm. She might get a bit mad, but you can work through it." you say walking over to Erika, giving her a small hug and a small kiss on the forehead.

“Remember that all you need to do Erika is just convince Leona that you’re still yourself.” Amanda says sipping her tea. “It should be self-evident with the way you guzzle down tea as if it were water.”

“I’ll take that as a vote of encouragement.” Erika replies in a dry voice.

“Now... Are you ready?” you ask Erika, pulling away from the hug.

“No, but let’s go anyways.” Erika says as she throws her bandana aside and begins to head out of the building with all of you.

[2/2]

You head to the Europa cafe directly after, with Erika going in as her irish redhead disguise before shapeshifting back into Erika once more. Amanda gets you a private booth all the way at the end of the hallway in order to be as isolated as possible. The next bit of time only consists of some awkward silence while the wood crackles in the potbelly fireplace nearby.

Suddenly the door seems to swing wide open, followed by what appears to be a panting and sweating Leona with her winter coat still on. Her eyes seem to dart around the room at lightning speed before suddenly getting a lock onto Erika. Leona’s eyes seem to go wide with amazement.

“H-Hey...” Erika says as she gives a tiny, nervous wave.

“ERIKA!” Leona says running over to Erika and giving her a large hug. Tears run down her cheeks as she embraces Erika tightly. “ERIKA! I WAS SO WORRIED! S-So much has happened since you left a-and I...”

“Ssshhh... Ssshhh... It’s alright...” Erika says giving her a gentle embrace, rocking her crying half sister back and forth.

“M-Miss! Your c-” The cafe maid waitress stops herself as she sees Erika hugging a sobbing Leona. You make a small head motion towards the waitress, to which she only nods and gently closes the door.

“I-I-I mean ever since the ritual I was so worried! A-And now Uncle Langy is dead!” Leona says as she hugs Erika closer to her.

“Yes I know my sister. Part of the reason I wished to meet with you again was because of the recent times have been so dramatic as of late.” Erika says.

“L-Lady Sara! I-I’ve been doing some reading myself! Is my sister free of her fated death!? Will she be able to live a normal life once again!?” Leona asks in a desperate tone of voice.
>>
>>24563906
"Thats for her to say"
>>
>>24563906
"She has been... but I would suggest listening to your sister for the time being."
>>
>>24563906
"Yes and no, respectively. She is free of any death fated to befall her.

But getting Fate to back off and leave people alone is not a simple thing, it is unlikely that she will live a normal life. It will not necessarily be any better or worse than a normal life, it will be different, more eventful at the very least."
>>
"She has been... but I would suggest listening to your sister for the time being." you simply say.

“Oh yes! But of course!” Leona seems to say as she sits in front of Leona, her face eager with expectation. “I’m dying to know what my dear sister has been up to since she has departed from the castle!”

Erika seems to being sweating at this question. “Well I... I’ve certainly done a few things.”

“Then let’s start at the beginning! We certainly have the time!” Leona says as she takes off her coat.

“L-Lady Sara’s assistance actually begin a bit before that. I-I wasn’t able to tell you anything about it, in case Uncle Langy would suspect anything and try to force the information out of you. I-I mean no offense to you of course!” Erika quickly replies.

Leona only gently smiles and clasps her sisters hands gently, looking up into her face with a pure and gentle smile on her face. “Erika I can never be mad for something such as that. While I pity my Father and what has happened to him, your caution about not informing me about it was a good call.”

Erika seems to stare into Leona’s eyes for a few seconds, her eyes waiting up before she begins to hic and sob herself.

“E-Erika? What’s wrong?” Leona asks her as she pulls Erika into her shoulder left shoulder, her hand patting her back.

(“Brooklyn! Brooklyn I’m so scared!”) you can hear Erika weeping into your mind. (“I fear that by telling her this information her worldview will be shattered! I-I’m more scared now than I was of you telling me of my death! I’m terrified of even using my precognition to see what would happen! I... I...”)

Think at Erika "there's only one thing you need to think of, trust, do you trust Leona, do you believe in the love you and your sister share> Then think of how much it would hurt to have something as important as this kept from you any longer than absolutely necessary, and remember, I'll always be there for you.
>>
>>24564252
("Erika, she's your sister, she loves you, and you can not hide this from her forever. If you do not tell her you will forever be holding her at arm's length. She isn't an idiot, she'll notice, she'll wonder why you have closed yourself to her. She'll wonder what happened to you.

It is far kinder to be honest with the ones you love. Start small, say that I had to change what you are to save you from your fate but not who you are. Tell her that you're still Erika and that you love her. Then tell her you're a Succubus.

I can't promise that it'll go over well, but you have to try.")

>>24564252

"She is your Sister. If there is anyone in the world who will accept you unconditionally, it's her. You cannot hide this forever...so tell her now, on your terms."
>>
Your sister is free from her old fate. I had a lengthy discussion with the reaper you saw, his name is brodin by the way on how to save Erika so he would not be forced to kill as part of his duty.

The only way both of us concluded to save her was to give her the ability to use aether, as someone who can use atheric is not bound by fate as strictly. She is still Erika and her mind and soul are her own.

As for living a normal life? That is mostly up to you. Erika values both you and David the most in her life. Erika has been worried sick about both of you.
>>
>>24564252
(Life scares us Erika, All we can do to fight the fear is to focus on what is more important. She loves you doesn't she? She will still love you, even if the world falls apart.)
>>
[1/2]

Erika, she's your sister, she loves you, and you can not hide this from her forever. I can't promise that it'll go over well, but you have to try.

Erika sniffles a few times, before reaching around Leona and giving her a mighty hug. “Leona... I love you so much... I always want you to know that no matter what, I will always love you.”

Leona smiles and hugs back, a small tear of happiness rolling down her eyes. “And I too will always love you too my sister.”

After about a minute of silent hugging for Erika to gather her wits about her, Erika gives Leona a pat on the back once more before pulling away.

“Better?” Leona asks with a gentle smile.

Erika simply nods before continuing her story. “A-As I said some time ago. I was supposed to be sacrificed at Uncle Langy’s ritual. But it went deeper than that as you know, because if I didn’t die when I was fated to, a Reaper would be dispatched to kill me.”

“Y-Yes, a rather gruesome fate. But if you’re here now, than Lady Sara certainly found a way correct?” Leona asks.

“I-I-In a way yes... Lady Sara told us that people who have their aether enlightened control their own destiny in a way.” Erika says.

“Oh! So you actually have enlightened Aether now!?” Leona says in a happy tone of voice with an angelic smile. “I’m so happy for you now! If anyone could put the powers of an enlightened to good use, then it is you!”

Erika once again looks into Leona’s eyes, tears falling down her cheeks as she tries in vain to hold them back.
>>
[2/3]

Erika. If you don’t do it now it’ll be all the more painful for you both later on.

“It... Goes a bit beyond that. I-In order for it to be assured, Lady Sara had to p-perform a far more elaborate ritual to me i-in order t-to save m-my life...” Erika says, hanging her head to avoid eye contact with Leona as she lets her wings, tail, and horns come out. The wings and horns are small, but definitely big enough to be seen.

Upon seeing the demonic traits of Erika come out, Leona’s face turns from that of an angel of serenity to one one pure and utter shock. All of the colour seems to evaporate from her face as she seems to stare at Erika’s form plain and simple.

“I-In o-order to save my life... Lady Sara had to turn me into a Succubus...” Erika comes out saying.

“No... No...” Leona says as he slowly begins to back away from Erika.
>>
[3/3]

“B-But I’m still the same person! I haven’t changed at all!” Erika says pleading with Leona, reaching out for her.

“DON’T TOUCH ME!” Leona screams as she slaps away Erika’s hand before standing back up. Her gaze then turns back down to you. The gaze she gives you isn’t one of divine assurance or peace, but rather one of righteous anger and hate. “I TRUSTED YOU! I TRUSTED YOU TO HELP MY SISTER, THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, AND LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO HER!”

Erika simply gazes up at her sister, half leaned over the couch while still looking up at Leona, her entire body frozen in fear as tears begin to stream down her face.
>>
>>24564611
>AND LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO HER!

"Look at what your father forced upon her, look at what your faith has forced upon you, from a tearful reunion to unbidden rage, yet she is still Erika, still your sister"
>>
>>24564611
It was the only way I knew to be sure Leona, She's still the same Erika you've always known and loved, and she made this choice just to stay with you. Hate me if you must, but do not throw your sister away after what she's chosen so she can stay with you.
>>
>>24564611
"I saved her life. Broke her away from her fated death.

"Your sister was more afraid of facing you now than being turned. She did this so she could still be by your side. She did this because she was afraid of what would happen if she were to die, to leave you alone.

"And know the one thing she feared the most is happening before her. You rejecting her."
>>
>>24564690
>and know
>and now

>>
is there a way we could telepathically send Leona the memories of Erika freaking out about this from earlier?
>>
>>24564611
Be calm, be cool. "She made the choice. All I did was provide a means. She made a choice to stay here, alive, for you. Despite knowing you would not like what that meant her becoming."
>>
>>24564741
Eh. I wouldn't she would think it was trick, a lie. We'll have to get through to Leona on words alone here, I believe. Anything else... will just fall flat.
>>
>>24564611
Keep our voice level and calm, don't stand up, remain seated for now.

"What would you have had me do Leona? Not save her life? I knew her death was coming, should I have stood by and done nothing? Should I have let a monster like the late Lord Langy sacrifice her upon an altar?

This was the only option I had to save her life and when I offered it to her, giving her every single bit of information I could, giving her every chance to back out, she took it. Because she did not want to die, because she wanted to stay with you, to be able to protect you, so you would not suffer at her loss.

She is more afraid of not being able to be by your side, more afraid of you hating her than she was of death. Do you have any idea how precious and beautiful it is for someone to value someone else's happiness, to value their love of someone over their own life? Do you? She is more terrified now thinking that you hate her than she has ever been. She is scared more of you rejecting her than she was when Lord Langy was standing over her with a blood soaked knife with intent to plunge it into her heart. More afraid now than she was fighting horrendous monsters to save a village.

She is still Leona, nothing has changed that. She still loves you just as much as she did before, she still has the same hobbies, joys, dislikes, quirks, habits, and so on. Aside from the obvious physical bits, the horns, wings, and tails, can you point out a single thing about her that has changed? Can you see any change in her care for you, any change in her demeanor aside from grief over how you're acting? Have you learned nothing from what I have taught you? Have you paid no attention to what you have learned under my tutelage?"

[1/4]

You maintain your calm as you look right into Leona’s angry eyes before talking to her. "What would you have had me do Leona? Not save her life? I knew her death was coming, should I have stood by and done nothing? Should I have let a monster like the late Lord Langy sacrifice her upon an altar? This was the *only* option I had to save her life and when I offered it to her, giving her every single bit of information I could, giving her every chance to back out, she took it. Because she did not want to die, because she wanted to stay with you, to be able to protect you, so you would not suffer at her loss. At absolutely no point during this process did I use any mind altering powers on her. More afraid now than she was fighting horrendous monsters to save a village.”

Leona’s expression softens a little before looking back down at Erika’s demonic form, before looking back at you, then down at herself. Her face shows that of a woman in anger still, but also one with regret and confusion.
>>
[2/4]

“She is still Erika, nothing has changed that. Have you paid no attention to what you have learned under my tutelage?" you ask her.

“E-excuse me!” Leona says as she grabs her coat and races out of the room.

“LEONA! NO PLEASE!” Erika says as she uses an outstretched hand as Leona leaves the room, only to collapse face first down into the couch and erupt into tears.

“Ssshhh... There there Erika... Let it all out...” Amanda says as she puts down her tea cup and goes over towards Erika, stroking her back.

“LADY SARA!” Erika says looking up at you with bloodshot eyes. “I BEG OF YOU! PLEASE! TALK TO MY SISTER! CONVINCE HER TO STAY BACK AT MY SIDE!”

“I agree with Erika. If we let her go now then all of this will be for naught I fear.” Amanda says as she passes Erika a handkerchief. “Go after her. I’ll stay here with Erika.”

You give Amanda a nod. “I promise you that I’ll get her back.”

You race out of the room and barrel down the hallway. It is a bit tricky as Leona has a fair head start over you. You nearly lose track of her in the lunchtime busy streets, but her dress makes it somewhat easy for her to follow.
>>
[3/4]

You’re unable to stop her before she manages to get back into the castle, but it is nothing that a quick transformation back into Brooklyn cannot solve. As you race back into the main hall, you look around confuse to where Leona could’ve gone too.

“Excuse me!” you call out to a person picking up pieces of armour from the floor. “Do you happen to see which way Lady Leona went!?”

“Who are you to be here let alone ask such questions!?” the clean up crewman replies.

“I’m the Head Magician you idiot! I have every right to be here! Now are you going to answer my question or will I get Lady Marina Langy down here to fillet your ass in front of the town for failing to address me properly!” you say pulling rank while in a heated moment. The Royal guards not even moving in to assist the man only lends to your credentials.

“S-S-Sorry ma’am! I beg forgiveness!” the man says quickly putting down his armour piece and getting on his knees. “L-Lady Leona appeared to be distraught, and she headed down the Northwest corridor!”

...Northwest corridor? Her room isn’t ther-

...Oh... She’s going to see him. This is worse than you thought. You quickly begin to bolt down towards the Northwestern hall, heading down towards the dungeon area.
>>
[4/4]

The guards easily let you pass into the dungeon unassisted. The dungeon area is what you expect from a dungeon area. Damp, stale air, and the small pitter patter of rats. Several stoves are usually kept burning in order to avoid the place to plunging down to freezing temperatures, but it is still rather cold.

As you walk down the hallway, you begin to slow your movements down a bit so that you can hear a conversation around the corner of where you are at.

“B-But she has to be her! The way she talked! The way she acted! The way she moved! There is not doubt that it must be her!” Leona states.

“The demon can take many forms my dear Leona, but I’m sorry, the sister that you know of is dead.” you can hear Pollock, the Paladin say.

“No... No...” You can hear Leona say in between her sobs.

“What you witnessed was not your sister, but rather a demon in disguise of your sister. It may possess all of the memories and mannerisms of your sister, but it has long since devoured her soul completely if such traits have manifested on her.” Pollock states. “At this point there is nothing left of your sister by the cherish memories you have of her within your heart...”

...Why that son of a bitch...

You gents better not fuck this up.

totally called the paladin being all palpatine on her poor little brain
>>
>>24565077
Should have really dealt with the paladin before the reveal. Especially when explicitly told she was talking to him.
>>
>>24565077
Switch back to Sara. "He has absolutely no idea what he's talking about by the way.

His knowledge of demons, well actually his knowledge of pretty much any subject, consists either of unquestioned dogma, how to kill it, nearly total ignorance, or some combination of the three.

If you want to talk to someone about souls, death, and exactly how he's wrong I can explain it or I can ask a certain Angel that you have already met to clear things up."
>>
>>24565077

We need brodin asap. To counter the paladin's bs. she will believe an angle over a paladin. quick we need to get in contact with brodin.
>>
>>24565077

We have a way to prove him a Liar?

Perhaps have an angel tell her otherwise? The issue is that well...the Sole Angel we are on good terms with is a less than divine looking one.
>>
>>24565191
I think we have a fate ritual that we can use as a backup if Brodin isn't available.
>>
>>24565077
"And what you witness before you is the sad excuse of what was once a noble man, deluded into believing his cause was just, herding the innocent to the slaughter, blind to their pleas, blind to the truth of his actions, blind to how far he has fallen, all at the behest of his most 'noble & righteous' masters, for once in your life Leona, for just once, let your passionate heart and intelligent mind decide things for yourself, do not let yourself become deluded and corrupted by blindly allowing the influence of others to shape you and your path, see it for yourself, see her for yourself"
>>
ok so here are some ways I can think of to hammer it home:
1. It is the cusp of arrogance to think we would even bother trying to convince her of anything if that was truth.
2. She asked a paladin, now try asking an angel.
3. Demonstration of powers on some others, now lets ask her, why are we not doing that to her?
>>
>>24565077
Well shit. We know these are blatant lies from our own experience, but how do we convince her of that?

UGH, 2AM is a horrible time to have to deal with such a critical issue!

>>24565176
>>24565190
Yess, Brodin! I'm sure he has some indisputable way of proving his angelic nature if he has to. It may have come up for him before.
>>
>>24565243
>but how do we convince her of that?
show her, we have majiks, do majiks, make put the evidence in her head

we can totally do that right?
>>
>>24565243
I think we already covered the Brodin is an Angel thing when we 'summoned' him and Mina in Amanda's basement.
>>
>>24565214

The issue is that well...will she believe a witches Fate Ritual?

Do we know enough to summon an angel? Preferably an Angel of Knowledge or one who has the honor and sense of justice to tell the truth if asked.

How much do we know of types of angels?
>>
>>24565263
We could us Suggestion for this, but I'd rather not. It sets a bad precedent and could backfire so much in our face if she suspects we're messing with her mind.
>>
>>24565278
yea... on second thought, lets not

>>24565274
do we know any angels of justice? they tend to be more reasonable and the things put into Leonas little brain is a great injustice
>>
>>24565263
Let's not do that. Like I said before if we cannot convince a young lady to believe her sister is still her sister we have larger issues at hand. Magic or powers isn't always the answer.
>>
>>24565278

Between her faith and what is likely a strong will (I don't see this crisis showing a lack of will so much as a lack of knowledge) it would likely end badly.

>>24565296

We'll have to ask Sandact6. I'm hoping we know enough to at least chop together a ritual for it. Maybe one of the queens knows. I mean, they know plenty about the Angels. And this is kinda an emergency. A 'This could end our plans' one, not just a 'This could break a friend of ours' one.
>>
>>24565077
can we eat her life force now?
>>
>>24565274

Enough to know their basic hierarchy. Information on Celestia is typically banned information. With Brooklyn's new Head Magician rank he is allowed access to most of the information, but he hasn't had any time to study it yet.
>>
mmm... actually, "why would we lie", of course it isn't going to work. But he will argue himself into a corner by coming up with so many reasons why it is all lies. Why there is no way this demon is still her loving sister.

At which point where he has solidified his position about it comes the proof... If it is really just a demon trying to trick her, then try to smite it... we would surely turn on her then would we not? This "what have I done" when she realizes she has tormented her sister would be the strike that breaks her conviction.
>>
>>24565077
Dead, huh? was she dead when we rescued her from Langly's ritual? Was she dead the entire time she and Leona spent together before she had to flee? because if she was dead, then I spent a hell of a lot of effort saving a "dead" person. and working to re-unite her with her sister.

You are a fool churchman and a spiteful one at that, working to tear two loving sisters apart for nothing other than the dogma of the church, I don't know why I keep working to save your ass.

Leona, think back to meeting Mina, and Brodin, Brodin, scary yet an angel, Mina fun yet a demon, and both very much people underneath their status.

In fact, maybe you should ask Brodin himself, He should be able to prove his angelic credentials, and will certainly be able to verify the truth or falsehood of Erikas death, would you not agree Mr. paladin, that an angel of death would be the defining authority on such matters?
>>
>>24565348

"You say she is dead? Let us ask the Reaper."
>>
>>24565296

A few angels of Justice who have lost to Pride Demons yes. But the stories didn't go in detail of the angels other than their defeat.
>>
Fuck, I hope Brodin is not piss drunk right now...
>>
My ideas so far:

1) Get her to agree to ask an angel. Because who would know better.
2) Have her talk to Brodin (If the Reaper says she is not dead...he's probably right.)
3) Talk to the Queens (Probably Okaria) about summoning an angel of Truth or Justice.
4) If we manage to get a ritual for it? Call them and ask them to speak the truth, unabashed of favoritism. With luck, an angel of Justice cannot show Bias...even towards the angels.

I assume that Brooklyn has been informed of the battle with the Priest? If so, then that might lead to discredit Pollocks moral stance...
Though we Must refrain from speaking about what happened with Erika...

"Lady Leona!? Begging my pardon, but I overheard part of your conversation. You were talking about Transformative Magics? I would be honored to render my knowledge and assistance in the matter..."

It is best we move her away from Pollock, as being a member of the Church, she is liable to believe him over us during her crisis of faith...

also, it is best we tell her about who Pollock was working for away from him as he is likely to start screaming bloody-mary about it...
>>
>>24565494
yes, this can work, first things first, we need to get her away from him
>>
If we're getting Brodin involved we really should have a messenger run for him. As in tell the guards to get him here now.
>>
>>24565444
we'd better be brooklyn for that yeah
>>
>>24565493
We can say that we know there's a reaper who's been hanging around town lately, and that if she wants to know for sure, she could ask him.
>>
>>24565515
We could just send a messenger imp for him, it'd be faster and guaranteed to reach him.
>>
Well this anon must slumber now, but you guys had better create and implement a solution before I leave town tomorrow, I would rather not have all these scheming thoughts and angry ideas swimming around in my head when I'm suppose to be refereeing a whole bunch of people shooting
>>
>>24565542
I don't think we have the mats for that on hand.
>>
>>24565515
I'm against going in as Brooklyn. It will just make this whole mess come up again when she finds out we're the same person.
>>
>>24565542
That would be great, but we'd need to find materials and someplace private for the summoning.
>>
>>24565562
That depends on what we say as Brooklyn, if we just direct her to Brodin, it probably would not be a big issue.
>>
>>24565562

I suppose that we could go in as Sara and straight away out his employer as a Necromancer who was planning to attack Fort Hope, then move towards Celestia... That should also discredit him... though She Would be likely to not believe us, seeing as though she just found out we turned her sister into a succubus...
Though, I'd rather have us stay as Brooklyn for it, as i doubt that being Sara would help remove her from Pollock...
>>
IF WE GO AS BROOKLYN DON'T FORGET TO SOLIOGRAM A DIFFERENT DRESS.

Sorry for all caps, but it's kinda important.
>>
>>24565632
>>24565636
This, we go in as brooklyn
>>
>>24565636

This is true. Thank you for stating it, as it May have repercussions if she noticed.

[1/2]

You quickly shift back into your Sara form, quickly performing a small messenger imp ritual before heading around. The small red circle you draw with your chalk glows red for a moment before a small insect like creature with four wings pops out the circle.

“What have you su-”

“There is a Reaper named Brodin in a place called the Adamant Door. Tell him that Brooklyn needs him in the Langy castle dungeon and guide him here. It’s an emergency.” you order it.

“As for payment, I’d like one of those keys over there.” the imp says using its tail to point to one of the keys on the key ring.

You use your darkness control to quickly take a metal key from off the key ring to the demon, happily flying through the wall and towards Brodin once it receives instructions.

"He has absolutely no idea what he's talking about by the way.” you say as you walk around the corner.

“L-Lady Sara!” Leona gasps as she sees you coming around the corner.

“That voice! Our wizard from the tower when we tried to save Lady Erika!” Pollock spits through the bars. “You rescued a fair maiden, one which my comrade died in order to try and save her, and you only condemn a noble soul to a fate worse than death!”

“His knowledge of demons, well actually his knowledge of pretty much any subject, consists either of unquestioned dogma, how to kill it, nearly total ignorance, or some combination of the three.” you say standing away from Pollock while giving a small gesture towards him.

“I will admit that my knowledge of demons may be lacking to by departed companion Bass, but I certainly do know my basics!” Pollock says pointing through the bars of his jails cell. “You didn’t save Erika’s soul! You merely fed it to a foul demon! One who is a perversity of everything that Erika stands for!”
>>
[2/2]

Leona seems to look between both you and Pollock, somewhat bewildered by the dual talks going on between them.

“If you want to talk to someone about souls, death, and exactly how he's wrong I can explain it or I can ask a certain angel that you have already met to clear things up. One who has a specialty on the afterlife.” you say.

“You’re joking! A demon, being on good terms with an angel!?” Pollock spits

“An Angel... You mean the Reaper?” Leona asks.

“Reapers!? You mean those sell-outs!? The Angels who were cast out of heaven for their conspiring with the demons!?” Pollock spits out. “Reapers conspire with demons all the time! They’re hardly any more trustworthy than demons!”

Leona then looks at you for a response.

...Shit... You’re not that familiar with Celestia lore. Langy has always had that sort of information forbidden for common scholars. While you are no longer a common scholar, you haven’t used your new rank to research forbidden lore yet. Brodin would probably know far more than you, but it’d take him a few minutes to get here in his condition.
>>
>>24565750
Man pollock is a real dick waffle
>>
>>24565750
Yes, Cast out, that would be why he has property there.

That is neither here nor there however, are you in fact attempting to deny that an angel of death would not be the defining authority on these matters? is there some better choice on a question such as this? I would love to hear it, because Leona deserves an answer from the best most accurate source.
>>
>>24565791
damn double negatives

*are you in fact attempting to claim that an Angel of Death would not be the defining authority on these matters?
>>
>>24565750

Son of a BITCH.

Ask this paladin. Ask if he knows how to summon an angel who can back him up. Because we can ask an angel, who has the greatest knowledge of death if this is true.

Bring up her Sister. Tell her how afraid she was to tell her, that she feared she would be hated forever for her choice. Does that sound like the worries of a demon? Or a scared sister who is afraid of losing the person who means the most to her in the world?
>>
>>24565750
"You describe Angels that maintain the balance of life and death as sell outs? The ones who were charged into doing so? Do truly deny that they are foremost experts in matters of death and souls? Something not even Heaven and Hell can accurately claim what it is."
>>
>>24565750
"Why do you believe that? Their job is to ferry souls to the afterlife, Heaven *or* Hell. Without them no one would even get into heaven, and the world would be filled with ghosts!"
>>
>>24565750
"Reapers conspire with whoever they choose to as long as they keep the natural order in place therefore preventing unmitigated chaos, destruction, and the deaths of entire worlds. Unless you're saying that the death of worlds is a good thing, in which case you're more of an idiot than I had previously thought which is a strange and difficult thing. Or you might be saying that a psychopomp knows less about souls than you do with your complete lack of an education on the subject and complete reliance on dogma over actual study and research.

And I would hardly say they were cast out of heaven, their primary offices are in the Underworld for obvious reasons. But they head wherever they please, from Celestia, to the Underworld, to any version of Hell they so choose, to every world in between. Though Celestia apparently has overpriced bars, so honestly it doesn't sound like a great place.

Souls though, interesting that you use that word, as no scholar of Heaven or Hell, at least not any who have made their research known, has any clue exactly what the 'soul' is, if it is to be considered one's Aether than it has not been consumed, merely altered, enhanced, and enlightened. If it is separate from her Aether and is its own thing there is no reason to believe it gone, if the soul is the root of the mind, emotions, feelings, and so on than that has not changed one iota from what it was.

If she truly was a demon, one who consumed Erika's soul why would she even bother doing this? What benefit would a evil demon have to do this? I can not think of a single reason for her telling you aside from love. You saw the look in her eyes, you know that those emotions weren't faked."
>>
>>24565750
"sell outs? huh, sure whatever. But even so they are still angels of death, it's them who bring the souls of the dead to the concerned after life, as such when it comes to death and such they are the experts not you or me.
but is you can ask someone with that knowledge by all mean do so; otherwise it would be best to ask the expert I think"
>>
>>24565750

"... So one of the few beings whose area of expertise is exactly what we need... And you're denying their testimony. Because it would be inconvenient for him to gainsay you?"
>>
>>24565915
Addendum to this.

No matter what we say be sure to say it in our authoritative scholar voice, the type professors use when speaking about a subject they know well.
>>
Oh god, this is horrible. I couldn't possibly go to bed now, but I can't bear to watch!

Or you might be saying that a psychopomp knows less about souls than you do with your complete lack of an education on the subject and complete reliance on dogma over actual study and research.” you say to Pollock.

“My so callled, ‘dogma’ comes from the Church of Illysia itself. Lessons taught by the highest authority possible: God. A being who is perfect and infallible by his very nature. Lessons reinforced by centuries of evidence backing up the cause!” Pollock spits out. “And one of those lessons are that while Reapers may often serve the natural order of things they are not to be trusted when it comes to consorting with demons! Lest you forget the incident that happened here on this realm where a high ranking Reaper willingly worked for and did unspeakable things for a Vampire Lord!”

HA! That you do know thanks to Brodin’s talks. “Which led to EXTREMELY harsh punishments on the Reaper for breaking the code of the Underworld! And I would hardly say they were cast out of heaven, their primary offices are in the Underworld for obvious reasons. But they head wherever they please, from Celestia, to the Underworld, to any version of Hell they so choose, to every world in between. Though Celestia apparently has overpriced bars, so honestly it doesn't sound like a great place.”

“You dare mock the holy city of Celestia!?” Pollock says, sounding as if he cannot believe what he’s hearing.
>>
[2/3]

“I’m only making judgement based on information that came from a Reaper himself.” You quickly defend yourself. “Souls though, interesting that you use that word, as no scholar of Heaven or Hell, at least not any who have made their research known, has any clue exactly what the 'soul' is, if it is to be considered one's Aether than it has not been consumed, merely altered, enhanced, and enlightened. If it is separate from her Aether and is its own thing there is no reason to believe it gone, if the soul is the root of the mind, emotions, feelings, and so on than that has not changed one iota from what it was.”

“The definition of a soul has be clarified since the beginning of time you ignorant barbarian! Body and Soul, in nearly every kind of interpretation of the Illysian texts, are defined as two separate but virtually infinite substances, of which the subjects aether resides in the area between them. One cannot survive without either one of them and the aether within one’s body is the bridge between this! But demons lack a pure and noble soul! Their own aether completely overpowering and corrupting their own souls to make them vile mockeries of divine beings!” Pollock retorts.

“If she truly was a demon, one who consumed Erika's soul why would she even bother doing this? What benefit would a evil demon have to do this? I can not think of a single reason for her telling Leona aside from love. She saw the look in her eyes, she knows that those emotions weren't faked." you say.

“Yet they were! The emotions generated by the foul creature masquerading as Erika was nothing but an elaborate ruse! It possesses all of her memories, so it’d know how to act exactly in that sort of situation and how to best act in order to manipulate poor Leona!” Pollock states. “If anything you’re making it harder for the poor girl to let go!”
>>
[3/3]

God damnit... This simply doesn’t end... Pollock seems to have an excuse for nearly everything you can possibly throw at him!
>>
>>24566197
Can we just kill him
it would make everything far easier
>>
>>24566224
No because Leona would freak out and we would fail at what we set out to do.
>>
Keep focusing on the why. Why exactly is "it' tormenting leona like that? What is it actually trying to achieve? Why not just summon a demon into her to devour her soul the same way you claim Erika's was?
What makes leona so important as to bother deceiving at all? why not keep it a secret from her?

Get him to be as specific as possible and then declare that Leona should go "prove/disprove" them. That would justify her getting away from him but also would work in our favor because we are actually right.

>>24566224
Should have done it before, now its too late and it will make things worse.
>>
>>24566224

Short term. About half a second short term.

>>24566191

If she was trying to manipulate her, why tell her? Why not simply pretend to be unchanged? It would let her manipulate her much more effectively. This is easily the worst option for that.
>>
>>24566224
that's the worse idea ever
>>
>>24566279
And after we do leave get ada to post guards on his prison that don't allow any more visitors without express approval from ada.
>>
>>24566288
>>24566288
but it would make me feel better
>>
>>24566224

We would lose Leona if we did.

If the soul is indestructible and eternal in doctrine it would be a big hole in his logic. as Erika's soul can't be destroyed or consumed.
>>
>>24566314
>>24566314
then lets bring that up
while planning his murder
>>
>>24566314
Nice catch

>>24566344
We already planned that days ago, we just totally forgot to do it.
>>
>>24566314
the idea is get the paladin to contradict his logic so much that Leona no longer believes him.
>>
>>24566351
then our next course of action is writing a reminder for ourself to kill the bastard
>>
>>24566197
So you're now saying that you have studied this information extensively that the church has passed on to you all its knowledge of souls and the afterlife? or are you making things up as you go along? because the latter appears more likely, so we get to add lies to your spouting of dogma and ignorance.

To clarify, you are yet again saying that the beings responsible for the borders between life and death are not the go to authority as to whether one is alive or dead?

I ask you one last time, who better to provide that information? Because I will do all in my power to call them up to give Leona the answer as to whether or not Erika is alive, spare me your dogmatic drivel and provide an actual answer, or be done with it and let Leona find the answer best she can.
>>
>>24566314

Damn good point.
>>
>>24566197
"Pollock, every single bit of your reasoning is based not on research, study, or actually seeking the truth.

You base it on a holy book of which there is no proof that it came from anything other than one who claimed to be prophet holding words from some Divine that has never been proven. It may have been an Angel from Celestia who wished to create blind men like yourself to throw at their foes, a bored Demon who wished to mess with you, a malicious trickster of some other mythology, or any number of other possibilities. Using your sort of logic I can say that a piece of paper I found said that Erika is an Angel testing Leona's faith and that you can't say I'm wrong because the piece of paper I found in the street came from God and you can't prove it didn't. Or I could say the piece of paper said you were a Demon who is trying to keep people away from reason, logic, and goodness using his name to mask your vile deeds.

The Aether of Demons, Angels, Spirits, and innumerable other beings is at its route the same, this is a known fact by anyone who studies such things and while your text may say otherwise it is wrong, it directly contradicts known findings that are repeatable, reproducible, and have been found to be the truth.

And yet you never answered my question earlier. Why? Why bother to tell her? Why not continue to manipulate her while keeping the transformation hidden? Why not use magic to alter her mind? If we had done either of these things she would not be here talking to you and listening to the drivel pouring from your mouth.

Also, didn't what you just said about souls completely contradict what you said earlier about her soul being consumed? I don't even really need to argue, just let you talk and let the holes in your own logic reveal themselves as you try to argue that one plus one equals three."
>>
>>24566369
Sure thing, we just have to provide Ada with a cursed weapon (using the curse/luck ritual) and ask her to prioritize executing the plan we already came up with for him.
>>
>>24566440
then lets do that after this debate thing
>>
>>24566440
You know we probably could get away with just having Ada execute him. I mean with all the shit that's happen here at Fort Hope. Just claim we had no one to trust to send him off to the Big Guy so better to kill him than risk him running. Just a thought.
>>
>>24566314

could also state that the document written were only written down long after they originally were spoken by mortal hands. Mortals are incapable of truly recording god's word. In addition the write texts you refer to where compiled by people verbally passing it on and then heavily edited by mortals into a book 40% of it was scraped and destroyed for one reason or another. The angles also killed the pope the one mortal who speaks with god's authority. it's that blasphemous by your own teachings as they most definitely defied god by doing so?

The problem is that articus explicitly asked for him to be brought in for interrogation. We cannot allow it lest articus find the shredded memories about the queens so we concocted an assassination plan.
Technically she could order his execusion but doing so would be delcaring open revolt against articus, at the moment we are pretending to have had a human led coup and that the new human lord is still loyal to articus.

I really think that rather then focusing on a theological debate, we should get him to concoct reasons and justifications for why would a demon masquerading as erika would lie.
Furthermore, we should most importantly get his predictions on how erika's pretender would respond to certain things. For example, if the demon really has a nefarious plot, what would it do if Leona tries to destroy it by attacking it with a holy symbol... or other such things. Leona going out to TRY will get her away from him and more importantly, he is going to be proven wrong when none of his predictions about 'the demon pretending to be erika' turn out to be correct

“Then why would the demon actually be focusing on torturing Leona of all things? What would it be trying to achieve? Why not just summon a demon to devour Leona’s soul in the same way that what would’ve supposedly happened with Erika?” you ask.

“It is exactly because the demon used to be Erika that Leona is a tempting target. The fact that she is a faithful member of our belief is that she’s more tempting than ever!” Pollock replies. “It is trying to weaken Leona’s faith, by doing it in the most sickening way imaginable, so that when her faith finally falters the demon can move in and devour her soul as well!”

Good thing you know a thing or two about demons. “Hollower demons are a specific sort of incorporeal demon in devouring a mortal soul to replace them, in which they belong to the Envy demon subsection! Your actions of describing a Hollower demon are horribly out of place as Hollower demons typically go for people who are in high stations of power and are typically stuck in a body for ten years once devoured! It have literally no reason whatsoever to eat Erika’s soul, a low ranking noble, no offense Leona, who was recently excommunicated from her court! Even then, what reason would it have to reveal itself to Leona?!”

“How should I know of the machinations of demons!? For all I know that demon had a plot in where unveiling its nature would’ve actually benefitted its station! Maybe it was ordered to do so by another demon! We do not know unless the demon was forced to do a lie detection test under Illysian magic, which I assure you that it will fail!” Pollock spits out.

“Because your damn magic registers anything that goes against your beliefs as a lie!” Brodin spits down the hallway, his own voice filled with anger as well.
>>
[2/3]

“Sir Reaper/Brodin!” Both Leona and you reply looking down the hall. You can see that Brodin is... not looking that good. Bandages are all around his chest area while his face still has some second degree burns around it.

“How long have you been listening?” you ask Brodin.

“The Imp told me what I missed.” Brodin replies as he continues to walk towards you, using a scythe for a crutch.

“A Reaper!? What a Reaper know about the divine magic of the church!?” Pollock spits out.

“More than you. I know a Dominion who explicitly told me that such magic worked in order for you not to question your faith.” Brodin replies as he walks up next to you. “Second, the part where you said the soul is devoured? That is utter horseshit. I know exactly what philosophy on metaphysics you are talking about here, and one of the very AXIOMS that was stated before that was that the soul could not be created or destroyed! You rip the power out of a soul, but you cannot and will not deny the existence of it! Even if you say that, it doesn’t stop that method from being completely and utterly wrong!”

“You dare mention that one of the most holy principles of my faith is nothing but lies!?” Pollock spits out.
>>
[3/3]

“That’s exactly what I’m saying! You can even ask Reapers IN TRAINING and that will be the first thing they tell you! I may not be a Sage in the area of souls, but I SURE as hell know with absolute clarity that they do not work like that! This philosophy of yours also neglects to mention that ‘higher beings’ lack souls completely, which is completely and utterly false! A simple spirit scan you can learn from nearly medium or wizard will tell you if a creature has a soul with extreme accuracy! Meanwhile your philosophy has bent over to the point of their back nearly breaking in order to explain EXACTLY why every single new spirit test that comes out is wrong for showing that angels have a ‘soul’!” Brodin spits out. “If you’re so confident, then I dare you to say these exact words to my boss which is coming tomorrow. A Principality, which if you know your angelic ranks means he’s the highest possible rank in third quality! He does NOT entertain thoughts such as these and if you say ANYTHING wrong about how the afterlife works in his face and are wrong, then he will execute you on the spot and your faith will not do a single damn THING about his actions towards you!”

Pollock seems to be taken back a little by this show of fiery force from the Reaper. To be honest, you are too. You’ve never seen Brodin fired up like this.

(I'm gonna go to bed now, but I'll certainly continue tomorrow when I wake up)

Night man.

It might be a good idea (not right now, but later) to tell Leona that we went through almost the same situation as Erika, 'death or demonification.' And that we are teaching her to be responsible with her new powers and not hurt herself or others by accident.

I feel bad for the poor girl really. She's either going to lose her sister, or her faith.
>>
>>24566771
>>24566771
WHY NOT BOTH
>>
>>24566672
Brodin, greatest bro ever.

First, put Brodin's other arm over our shoulder, give him something more to lean on. He can't be happy walking around in his state.

"Thank you for coming Brodin, I appreciate it. I would not have asked this of you if it wasn't important. I'm sorry for dragging you out of bed in your current state. I owe you a couple favors, and as much beer or tea as you can drink, I'd suggest the tea, I make spectacular tea.

While Pollock is ignorant as can be and his arguments have no rational basis to them, this subject is not my expertise and logical arguments were doing little against his brick wall of dogma and ignorance. I do not have your authority or experience with this subject.

Leona, does this clear a few things up for you? It really is Erika, your sister, not some impostor or fake. She truly does love you. I think you owe her an apology, you hurt her quite a bit, more than any knife could have. She'll forgive you of course, but she feels like she just lost the most important thing in the world to her."

We got bitten by forgetting to deal with paladin.
So, lets get a comprehensive quest log:
1. Get paladin dead (ada's plan with cursed sword, OR get him to talk with boss reaper, ... OR maybe we could get him to commit suicide to protect his homeland by informing him that he is being taken to articus for a mindrip? OR we could use suggestion to get the the mercs escorting the demon guards and him out of town on our side so that we gang bang the guards and him; we might even take them alive for shrine sacrifice)
2. Convert merchant twins to gemili (must be done before they leave)
3. Heal mina's arm (got the doc alchemy license, maybe could be done via healing magic too)
4. Read secret library (got job which allows that)
5. Visit clan archives in new TO (too many other pressing issues).
6. Get enough energy to convert amanda and maybe leona (its hard finding ever more sacrifices... but we could have some succubi on a rota where they bring energy to shrine and then go back out to harvest more... could mana batteries help here?).
7. Make sure

Did I miss anything?

Aha! Thats the ticket. We need to learn how to make it and spend time harvesting emotions around town to make as much of it as we can. Which we could then bring to queens

>A Principality is coming to town.

If it is at all possible for Leona to meet it, she should. Not in a 'look how angels aren't as kind as you thought' way, but more of a 'Illysia has their hearts in the right place, they really do, but they are wrong about some things' way.

I'm of two minds about Leona's faith. Breaking it entirely just seems so stereotypical-evil-demon. I prefer testing and tempering it, hammering it from iron into steel. If instead of losing her faith, she re-directs it, that would be the better outcome I feel.
>>
>>24566995
I agree and Leona would made a good paladin, of course not a stereotypical one.
>>
>>24566995
the problem is that her faith isn't in GOOD, its in DOGMA. Her faith is in the church, her faith is that demons are evil, etc.

This has to be broken... and only then can be rebuilt as a form of agnosticism that is not servility to a specific dogma but belief in moral code... it can very well be based on the church's proclaimed tenets as long as the hypocrisy and lies are stripped out. What results is basically Mina.

>>24566931
Kindness is a bit cheesy... and maybe even out of character, but sure i would love to aim that high
>>
>>24567084
So far she is exactly a stereotypical one. the only reason we have a shred of a chance of converting her is because of the personal connection (her sister)
>>
>>24566995
I prefer the outlook that we are not trying to break her faith, we are merely educating her, and challenging her beliefs where they are objectually wrong. What path she will take is up to her, as long as it does not threaten our or our friends security.

>>24567091
Basically. We can't have her hanging around if she continues that we and her sister is the personification of evil.
>>
We should stress that we somewhat regret doing it, because honestly it wasn't a fair choice for Erika. It wasn't our fault, but it still wasn't fair.

>I prefer the outlook that we are not trying to break her faith, we are merely educating her, and challenging her beliefs where they are objectually wrong. What path she will take is up to her, as long as it does not threaten our or our friends security.
That is the very definition of breaking faith when someone's faith is in bigotted nonsense... just replace her chuch's name with the KKK and demon with n-----
>>
>>24567343
I guess this is more a discussion about semantics than anything else. I feel the word disproving is more fitting than breaking, as we are only challenging wrongfull belief, not forcing our conclusions on her. But I can see your side of the argument.
>>
Pardon the potentially spiteful tone of this idea, but I believe that as a last resort, it could sort things out to some extent.

Get Leona and Erika in a room together again, and tell Leona that if she truly despises what has been done, she should Kill her sister herself. That if she believes Pollock over her sister, that killing her should be nothing but 'good'. That Simply rejecting Erika is as good as condemning her to death. For what is the point in life, if the only reason you had feels it better that you had died?

Leona's emotions for her sister and her nature should prevent her from attacking her sister, though it is highly probable that both of them may suffer from mild breakdowns over the matter as Leona seriously considers whether or not she is willing to kill her sister.

Once more, this is an extreme solution which, while solving the problem, may do more harm than good in the long run...
>>
>>24567468
That's a horrible, horrible idea. Far better just to lock them inside the same room for a few hours, to force them to talk it out. Not that this either would be an ideal solutions, but at least it won't alienate everyone we know.
>>
>>24567468
I suggested something close to this THREE TIMES already. (minus the locking together part)

Also I insisted that we get pollock to first predict what "the demon impersonating her sister" would do in such a situation so we could prove him wrong at the same time.
And suggested exploiting her "what have I done!' moment as the final push against blind faith in dogma.
>>
>>24567503
The "what would the demon do" argument would not really work against religious fanatics. They would just claim that the way demons are unknowable, and that all actions they take would ultimately serve some kind of greater evil.

And again, straining Leona emotionally that way until either her or her faith snaps would lead to horrible, horrible emotional trauma for everyone involved. It would also be the best way for us to alienate both Erika and Amanda to.

We have won the argument on souls and demons rather convincingly thanks to Brodin. Let's try to capatilise on that instead of hamfistingly try to brute force a solution.
>>
>>24567615

we could tell Leona that rather than doing something to change her fate for her, all we did was give her the power over her own fate.

Now that Brodin is here It may be worth mentioning that Erika Defeated the Lich that Pollock was working for...

I do support the less aggressive stance on the matter.
>>
>>24567662
The first suggestion sounds more reasonable. I guess we could frame the paladin as fallible, with him unvitingly working with and gathering souls for a necromancer, but it might be smart to keep Erika out of that one for now. It would be contrived to prove, and I'm not all that sure it's such a good argument for Erika being essentially the same person.
>>
Oh boy. What a thing to wake up too.

>>24566805
I'll throw some support on this just so we have something to move on with

>>24567468
Yeah as said >>24567493 that's horrible idea. It's even a stupid fun idea just horrible. Trying to push Leona to emotional extremes will just end badly for us.

>>24567615
Agreed. We've got argument damn near won. I would have loved to won this without Brodin and just had him come in and confirm what we said but not everything can be perfect. Right now we just need to keep trying put Mr. Paladin in a corner with Brodin bitch slapping him every now again.

Also need to find a way to discredit how his dogma has a convenient excuse for everything. I've always been of mind the old "No excuses. No excuses at all. Once you have a good excuse, you open the door to bad excuses." Style of thinking... A thought is all.
>>
Alright, I'm now up.

Gimme a few minutes and we'll continue this drama train.

oooo, i wanna meet Brodin's boss before i have to leave, good thing i have an hour or 2

>if you say ANYTHING wrong about how the afterlife works in his face and are wrong, then he will execute you on the spot
Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand we do want him gone, but I'm not sure Acticus would accept "angel killed him, shit happens" as a good reason.
>>
>>24571421
I think he would have to at that point. Though he would question why an Angel of Death was talking to him in the first place.
>>
>>24571421
He probably would. How is a mortal meant to stand up to a Principality? The danger is he might then think this town needs some extra protection against angels in the form of more nice strong Pride Demon guards.

And the other problem is that it seems like 99% of people on the planet don't actually know how the afterlife works and we don't want this to turn into a full on genocide.
>>
>>24571483
There's a difference between not knowing about something and spouting retarded things about them.
>>
>>24571457
That's the real problem, ideally we want him to die in the most boring way possible. Any chance we can just trip him up at the top of a flight of stairs?
>>
>>24571597
im sure brodin's boss could do that

[1/2]

"Thank you for coming Brodin, I appreciate it.” you say offering your shoulder to Brodin, which he readily accepts. “I would not have asked this of you if it wasn't important. I'm sorry for dragging you out of bed in your current state.”

“Wanted to stretch my legs a bit anyways.” Brodin replies.

“ I owe you a couple favors, and as much beer or tea as you can drink, I'd suggest the tea, I make spectacular tea.” you say.

“Why not have both?” Brodin asks.

“While Pollock is ignorant as can be and his arguments have no rational basis to them, this subject is not my expertise and logical arguments were doing little against his brick wall of dogma and ignorance. I do not have your authority or experience with this subject.” you tell Brodin.

“My experience is that the church has their own little view on death and the soul. It is not surprising that most cultures of people have different ways of saying whenever their views are right are wrong. There are ways different ways how to intercept how an afterlife is supposed to work and how the soul works, such as the Chinese Divine Bureaucracy, but even they have other proofs and an actual case other than God telling them that that’s how things work.” Brodin replies.

“The word of God is the word of perfection you ignorant Reaper! The only reason your so called evidence works the way it does is because you’re misinterpreting it! No being can define an absolute truth of God absolutely, so we have his Angels, beings who are part of the supremely Good of God, define the matters for us!” Pollock says.
>>
[2/2]

“Doesn’t change the fact that I’m right.” Brodin says. “I’m done talking here. Talk to me again when you’ve a real understanding of the Underworld and Death and not one spoon fed to you by angels, and one thing we know for a fact is that in virtually every single belief and metaphyiscal test says that a person higher soul is absolutely immutable in any way and it is only the aether of the subject that changes.”

“And my own belief says that the souls of the innocent can be devoured by demons, who stand for nothing but the forces of evil themselves!” Pollock states.

“Leona, does this clear a few things up for you? It really is Erika, your sister, not some impostor or fake. She truly does love you. I think you owe her an apology, you hurt her quite a bit, more than any knife could have. She'll forgive you of course, but she feels like she just lost the most important thing in the world to her." you say to Leona.

“Don’t listen to them Leona! Do not fall into the tricks, lies, and machinations of the demons!” Pollock pleads with her. “Remember your sister for what she was, and not the mockery that she is now!”

Leona looks more confused and bewildered beyond all belief, looking back and forth between you, Brodin, and Pollock while her hand rests under the holy symbol of Illysia in her cleavage.
>>
>>24571934

"If needs be, take this decision, and sleep on it. Better to think things through than to live regretting a spur of the moment choice."

"Though I do have something you might find interesting Pollock. The Priest that sent you this way, Were you aware that he was a Necromancer planning on Assaulting this town?"

not sure if we want to say the second bit now, or save it for later...
>>
>>24571934

"She is still your sister. If you still have worries...Brodin, you mentioned a principality is coming? Can she ask them? If this was the lies and tricks of the demons...would they be willing to have you ask so many angels?"

A hand on her shoulder "Come on, your sister is distraught and beside herself with fear she's lost you.."

I'm pretty sure if we get her to agree to trust her sister after this, we should stick a tongue that would make Gene Simmons jealous out at the paladin on the way out.
>>
>>24571934
"Why don't you at least give your sister a chance to explain herself, Leona?"
>>
>>24571934
Sigh. "For what it is worth, Leona. I am sorry for dragging you through this. When I told you your faith was beautiful thing, I was not lying. It truly is. But I ask you this, are you sure they worthy of such devotion? One's who will come up with any excuse to prove themselves in the right, no matter the cost to those around them."

"Come on Brodin. Lets get back into your bed so you can rest."
>>
>>24571934
"Leona, nothing we say will change his mind, no matter how much evidence is brought against him he will cling to his ignorance.

If I learn something that challenges my worldview I change my opinion. What is true is already so, there is no harm in owning up to it."

Give Leona a hug.

"Let's get out of this cold dungeon dear. Shall we go back to your sister and let her talk to you and explain what happened?"
>>
"Leona, nothing we say will change his mind, no matter how much evidence is brought against him he will cling to his ignorance.” you tell her.

“I only cling to the truth directly from the word of God! Nothing more or nothing less!” Pollock states.

You ignore Pollock’s rantings and continue with Leona, putting a hand on her shoulders. “If I learn something that challenges my worldview I change my opinion. What is true is already so, there is no harm in owning up to it." Once you determine that Leona hasn’t swatted you away.

“Paladin, answer me a question. For one who selflessly think of others over themselves, to the point where they are afraid of death only because they’d leave loved ones behind unprepared. Is that not one of the highest acts of virtue one could have?” Brodin asks Pollock.

“Demons are co-”

“Yes. Or. No.” Paladin quickly replies.

Pollock hesitates for a second before replying to Brodin. “Yes, but demons are incapable o-”

“There you go Leona.” Brodin says cutting off Pollock once again.

"Let's get out of this cold dungeon dear. Shall we go back to your sister and let her talk to you and explain what happened?" you ask Leona.

“...L-Lady Sara... Can I have some time to think for myself? I... Need some time to reflect on these events... By myself.” Leona asks, her voice and body both trembling.
>>
>>24572299

Take all the time you need. For now, I must see to Erikas well-being. Both of you have taken some serious blows over this matter.
Speak with Amanda if, When you wish to talk to your sister. All I ask is that you follow your heart. For that is where true 'Goodness' lies.
>>
>>24572299

Take a long as you need. Just remember, your Sister loves you and I care too.

"You should probably come and see your sister whilst you can. There's no telling how long it'll be before you next get the opportunity."
>>
>>24572564
We more or less control the town and Erika can Shapeshift, she can visit whenever she wants.
>>
>>24572626
Yeah, I believe we promised that Erika could move back into the castle once Langy was dealt with.
>>
>>24572660
That we did.

“Take all the time you need. For now, I must see to Erikas well-being. Both of you have taken some serious blows over this matter. Head to Amanda’s if, when you wish to talk to your sister. All I ask is that you follow your heart. For that is where true 'Goodness' lies.” You say giving Leona one last hug before turning around to leave.

“I owe you one for this.” you say to Brodin.

“If anything I was more worried if I’d drop the ball while I’m like this.” Brodin says listing to the side a bit.

“...You’re drunk?” you ask him.

“Na... Only slightly buzzed at the moment.” Brodin replies. “Now drop me back off at the Adamant Door. I’ve still got that drinking contest with Ironfist.”

“But you’re covered in burns all over!” you retort.

“Yea I figured it was a good handicap on his end.” Brodin replies.

You can only give a small sigh as you walk out of the dungeon.

******

After depositing Brodin back into the Adamant Door you head back over to Amanda’s place. You find both her and Erika inside of her room, several used hankerchiefs next to Erika with Amanda still being next to her.

“LADY SARA!” Erika says lifting her head up piping up in happiness, before noticing that Leona isn’t with you, a small bit of panic spreading across her face. “Leona! Where’s Leona!? What happened!? Did you talk to her!?”
>>
>>24572767

>>
>>24572767
"I talked to her. I did my best and I hope I got through to her. She said she needed some time alone to think."

"Hush now, Leona is in a strange place at the moment. Her Faith has been tested, and now we can do naught but wait to see whether she chooses to open her mind to new ideas, or if she chooses the same path of blind religious Zeal as Pollock..."

"Though on a different matter, Brodin's Boss will be arriving in Fort Hope tommorow... so there is that to look forward to..."
>>
>>24572912
Basically this. We should also mention that she's apparently been talking to the paladin for awhile now, since it explains why her adherence to church dogma was stronger than expected. We're just going to have to have faith in your sister, Erika.

It's to be expected, I suppose. Let's be honest Leona would make a FANTASTIC cleric.

One must wonder, If mortals can be turned into demons, then by the same logic, they can be turned into Angels also...

You are now thinking of Succubus Erika and Angel Leona having a pillow fight.
>>
>>24572767
"I spoke to her and tried my best to make her understand it was still you and not some body snatching demon like pollock was telling her you were.
she asked me for time to reflect and I can only hope that Pollock always contradicting himself and simply refusing to try to back his arguments with anything other than 'god said so', while me and brodin used facts to back ours will be helpfull.
on another note if you have no true understanding of the afterlife and only repeat what you've been told by a 'higher being' don't say it to a reaper's face because Brodin's boss would apparently kill you for it and he's coming to town soon, so yeah fun times ahead."
>>
>>24573070
Hmm, remind me, the rough idea was to turn her into an aide assuming she's willing, right?
>>
>>24573149
Wasn't Brodin human once upon a time?
>>
>>24573149
I don't know if I should curse you or thank you
>>
>>24573169
Yes. Brooklyn needs a meat-shield
>>
>>24573149
We know they can. Brodin used to be mortal. The problem is we don't have any friendly powerful angels to do said conversion.
Actually I think all Reapers are recruited from mortals. Maybe they can't get it up.
>>
>>24573070

Her issue is really that she's never seen her faith in action. She's had to hide it so long, she's never seen that members of her faith can be wrong or...human.

This is worse than just going against a devout person...this is going against someones dreams and what they IMAGINE their faith to be like. Dreams are much more powerful than reality a lot of the time...and much more painful when they break.

>>24573191

He was. We don't know the Angelic recruitment process though.

We should learn more about angels. But succubus Leona is fun to think about.
>>
>>24573169
That was the one she was interested in. Though I don't think she's aware of the... attachment thing...
>>
>>24573169

then again, we kind of assumed that when one turned, the other would follow...

Then we learnt that Leona was a follower of the Church.... so we decided to try and 'open' her world view to accept the possibilities that our offer would provide...

A mad idea in regards to Leona and Erika... Could they 'break' themselves to each other? or is that too much of a Succubus Paradox to work?
>>
>>24573271
Maybe, or you could have a closed loop of breaking. Still prefer to have her break to us, as I think it would provide some interesting role play opportunities.

I think we can pretty much file the idea of turning Leona into a succubus under 'medium to never term projects'.
>>

If we've got to the point where we can turn her into an Aide she'll probably break voluntarily and we won't need to change her or abuse our power over her once she's done it.

Pretty much how I feel about that topic.

Just never do that.
>>

Yes, but they might not get much done. That said, I oppose breaking any succubi. Period. If Leona does go the aide route we should let her bond to Erika.

it does with aides

>>
>>24573455
That's exactly how it works. The succubus gives themselves to you completely, body and soul and stuff. It's just the pride demons have to torture them like hell to get them to do that because most of them would prefer death than being broken to a pride demon.
>>
>>24573482
it's effectively the same
>>
>>24573482
...Who they are broken to.

>>24573450
Who knows maybe she'll want to bound with Brooklyn at the end of all of this for being open and honest to her about a many things. Not all but most. Plus she might not like the idea of being under her sister even if Erika wouldn't abuse any sort power that would give her.

Note I'm not against Leona bounding with Erika.
>>
>>24573493
And now I notice I spelled bond with bound twice. Fuck me.

"Hush now, Leona is in a strange place at the moment. Her Faith has been tested, and now we can do naught but wait to see whether she chooses to open her mind to new ideas, or if she chooses the same path of blind religious Zeal as Pollock..." you say to Erika.

“That Paladin asshole!? Oh GOD!” Erika says as she breaks down sobbing into Amanda’s blankets yet again. “My sister is gone! I’m never going to see or hear from her ever again!”

“Yes... Apparently she has been talking to the Paladin for some time, which explains why her beliefs were a bit stronger than normal.” you say to Erika. “But the conversation I had with her did seem to shake her faith. The only thing we can do not, is just wait.”

“There... You hear that Erika?” Amanda asks while rubbing Erika’s back. “You hear that? She still has a chance to come around.”

“She’s so circular at these times! Usually I’d be the one advising her, but now I have no idea what she’ll do!” Erika bawls out.

“Ssshhh... She’ll come to the right choice. I believe in your sister. For one she won’t have the spine to go against her own sister.” Amanda says.

“The only thing we can do now is that we need to wait and see.” you say as you sit back down in the chair.

Time begins to advance as you all begin to play the waiting game. Five minutes pass, Erika stops crying and begins to fidget with her handkerchiefs, her eyes constantly watching the clock. Five minutes become ten minutes. Ten Minutes become 20 minutes, yet the time still continues to tick on.
>>
[2/2]

Suddenly the door opens up, sounding deafening compared to the silent sounds of the clock. All of you look over, seeing Leona now standing in the doorway.

“H-H-Hi...” Leona stays stuttering to herself as she stands in the doorway.

Erika’s eyes simply begin to tear up before she darts towards Leona with her arms outstretched. “LEONA!”

“Erika!” Leona says as she runs towards her sister, giving her a large hug alongside her.

“LEONA!” Erika simply says against as tears roll down her cheeks. “I-I was so scared that you’d excommunicate me!”

“No Erika... I am so sorry for treating my dear sister as someone less than human!” Leona cries out, her own tears running down her face being ones of shame. “You’re my dear beloved sister, and nothing will ever change that! My actions were beyond shameful and no words can ever explain how sorry I am for causing the pain that I inflicted upon you!”

Both Erika and Leona begin crying and speaking to each other while sobbing uncontrollably while still embracing one another.

“See? I told you that she’d lack the drive to actually abandon her sister.” Amanda says to you as you both watch the sisters tearful reunion.
>>
>>24573596
"I'm so glad it worked out. Maybe we should give them some time together."

>>24573778
everything that needs to be done at the moment has been done i think. sooooo hang out with Brodin?

>>
You give out a small sigh of relief. “I’m glad that turned out the way it did. Shall we give them some time to themselves then?” you ask Amanda.

“Yes, it is probably for the best.”Amanda says as she brings you both out of the room.

As you leave the room, you begin to think about Amanda. What you’re mostly worried about is whenever she’d relapse or whenever or not you handled that matter with Pollock well or not. The only other planned meeting you have later on today is meeting up with the twins. Maybe asking one of the Queen’s about what has just transpired would be a good idea, or should you save your aether for the time being?
>>
>>24573596
I think it was a closer call than that, but hopefully now they can spend some time NOT watching their worlds collapse around them.

I'm hoping to do a better job with you than I did with Erika. I can take time to prepare you and not have to rush to avoid fate.

“Amanda, I’m going leave this in your capable hands.” you say as you give her a small pat on the back. “I think these girls need the better part of a day in terms of time alone.”

“Certainly, but where will you be heading Lady Sara?” Amanda asks you.

“The Langy Family library. I’ve gained a contact that allows me access to it.” you say to Amanda. “If the girls need to contact me, then they can find me in there.”

Amanda opens her eyes open a bit wide. “I’m impressed you’re allowed within such a place Lady Sara, but for a woman of your talents I shouldn’t be surprised. Very well, I’ll tell them. I need to get back to work before uncle gets on my case once more.”
With that, you head off to the Langy family library.

******

You arrive at the Langy family library, spending your time casually flipping through the aisles upon aisles of books, full of knowledge which is often restricted to the general populace. The several large tables with overly opulent leather chairs remain in the center of the room. As you scan through the isles, you do notice that some of the books within this area are now missing, mainly those related to minor rituals according to the book ledger. However you cannot tell who checked them out, as apparently it appears some people illegally took them during the chaos that happened amidst Langy’s rampage.

Still the books taken seem to hardly amount of a dent overall. Not only are there entertainment and fiction novels of all sorts here, but also books containing lore that is often forbidden to the general populace. Details on Angels and their structure, detailed battle records of various Pride demons, including their losses. And the ritual books, oh the ritual books! There is a small problem that all of the ritual books in the area are only of minor rituals that mortals can use, but the sheer amount of them are rather baffling.
>>
[2/2]

Of course, you have your Space control book given to you by the merchant twins Father last night too.

You feel almost giddy with the sheer amount of selection now at your fingertips, wondering what to begin reading first.

(In game terms, the library contains at least basic knowledge of nearly any sort of magic, details about all sorts of Pride Demon lore (mostly only Articus and his men), and other bits of forbidden lore such as Angelic structures or information on the underworld.)

For now we should probably quickly look through rituals for anything that might be job related (likely to be requested by a noble). Not exactly the sexiest place to start, but we need to make sure we fit in our new position.
>>
here is a question, Can we Shapeshift our Wings to look like Angel ones?
>>
>>24574494
You mean self enlightened right? Because I think we need spirit control to enlighten others.
>>
>>24574528

If you wanted to, yes.
>>
>>24574531
Yes, that's what I meant.
>>
>>24574535

So, If Leona were to take up our offer, she 'could' make herself look like an angel?

That is an interesting point which could be explored at a later date...
>>
>>24574505
True. We should at least be able to play the part at the bare minimum.
>>
>>24574580

so, we now have a legitimate reason for getting all the controls to basic then? WOOT WOOT!!!

we shall specialize in Darkness and Light, but have a few tricks for everything else...
>>
>>24574573
I think we could also use it to show that she should trust her OWN judgement. We might not be evil, but plenty of demons are. And if they can look like angels...
>>
>>24574653
yeah, no. Far better to get our non magical skills higher. Particularly the combat and politics ones.
>>
>>24574659
This s actually a damn good point since her sister just took out a necromancer masquerading as a priest. That had fooled both a paladin and a cleric of her church I might add.
>>
>>24574653
No. This is about ritual magics not basic controls.
>>
>>24574653
Ritual magic is different from control magic.
>>
>>24574669
Politic skills sure. If you mean willpower for combat, I'm on board with that. If you're talking about that useless axe skill, pass.
>>
[1/2]

Since you have a new position, you figure that you should be able to actually perform the role that you have now acquired. You begin to do some research on what nobles would actually like to have. Naturally that is power, but you figure that another major part would be information. One thing which it seems you are already fairly well on your way about.

There are rituals for scrying available, but apparently your space control can probably teach you much better details about scrying if you felt like it. Another thing that’d seem to be popular seems to be wards or seals. Which, again, something like space control seems to handle. Wards in the simplest effect for space control spot someone from scrying a certain place, but if you combined space control with other things you can do such things like stopping fire from burning within an area, stopping a ghost within an area, or even stopping anything capable of thinking! But given your current controls, you could only stop light or darkness. Water could be a possibility, but you’d need more experience in that field before you could alter the ward like that.

Naturally another part of the job involves being knowledgeable about magic and aether, something which you can be well on your way about once you begin studying magic in more detail.
>>
[2/2]

There are a few areas that you do seem to lack in though. Mainly the fields of Artificer and Alchemist. While both are considered fields of magic, you barely know anything about these fields. Artificers involve themselves of making magic items of great power. Not only things such as Blizzarios’s armour, but also things such as great castles which are magically reinforced with many dozens of permanent defensive spells. Alchemist involves imbuing and manipulating various chemicals and aether in order to achieve desired effects. Things such as love potions, healing elixirs, or bombs of great power. You’re not expected to be an ace in ALL of these fields of Wizardry, but the ability to identify what effect comes from what field would be a boon.

One cute thing you do discover and you think you can pull off is that there seems to be a small ritual for combining magic within drinks. Maybe you could do such things as applying your suggestion power to drinks themselves? An amusing thought to say the least.
>>
>>24574764
Our tea just got that much better.
>>
>>24574724
Axe buffs soligrams. Soligrams are useless because we can't hit anything with them, while if we increase our axe skill to good we will be much more effective.
>>
>>24574764
>Blizzarios’s armour
Speaking of that, whatever happened to it? Did it get vaporized with all our possessions as well?
>>
>>24574830

Oh no, the armour was glowing red hot but is still perfectly fine. It takes a lot more than that to destroy it.

For now, I assume Brooklyn threw it in the back of the wagon with all of the Necromancer stuff for the time being.
>>
>>24574830
I assumed so. What happened to the necro armor by the way? We should probably hand that off as evidence to Brodin's boss (clear that with Bripodin first though).
>>
>>24574803
They don't need to hit anything when they explode on the target they're after. Really no point in using them as 'soldiers.'

>>24574764
So if we got time before going to meet with the twins lets get to reading that space control book as it seems to have the most use for us at this time.

>>24574830
I kinda want to id that Necromancer armor too before we do anything with either of them.
>>
>>24574860
Well, that answers that.
>>
>>24574862

The Necromancer's armour is within the wagon along with Blizzarios's armour. the Necromancer's armour is badly damaged and needs to be repaired before it can be of any use.
>>
>>24574883
Didn't we also need to appraise that armor or something? Beyond just getting it fixed.
>>
>>24574883
Was aware of the damage but forgot where it was. Thanks OP.
>>
>>24574860
In that case it's yet another thing to add to our ever growing "Things we really need to do something about" list, since the longer it's not acclimated to our aether instead of Blizzarios' the higher the chance of it fucking us over becomes.
Well, unless I'm forgetting some point where we dealt with that issue, but I don't think I am.
>>
>>24574913

That too yes.
>>
>>24574933
What would we need for that? Just Brooklyn to look it over or some mats and magic.
>>
>>24574871
>no point in using them as 'soldiers.'
But aren't skilled soldiers so much more effective than cannon fodder kamikazes?
I mean what if we could just summon an army of veteran soldiers at any time?
>>
>>24574978
No not really. Laying waste to your enemy through explosive means is always the right answer.
>>
>>24574978
The point (I think) was to get them effective enough at soldiers that they can take a few mercenary level opponents out of a fight before kamikazeing. Make it more efficient to use them in a big fight. Or run non-lethal crowd control on mortals since we don't want to kill Ada's subjects unnecessarily if they riot or something.
>>
>>24574978
I agree. Plus, making them better at actual combat makes them better tarpits anyway.
>>
>>24574978
An army of veteran soldiers who explode as soon as they get hit once.
>>
>>24575084
>non-lethal crowd control
Turn them into flash bangs then. Still have no use for axe skill.
>>
>>24575084
Also would be useful if we need to fight while pretending to be a mortal for some reason.
>>
>>24575118
And blind our allies simultaneously?
>>
>>24575135
We probably can use our darkness control on our allies to prevent that.

>>24575135
I'm sure they'll be able to deal with it.
>>
>>24574764
Wait, so if we learn basic healing magic we could make admittedly weak healing potions?
>>
>>24575210
That's what it sounds like and if true might be something to look into.
>>
>>24575194
Doesn't light control give us immunity to flash bangs? I thought the best darkness control could do is temporarily blindfold us when blinding flash occurred. This is important because the soligrams generally explode when injured, not by remote triggering. If we don't control the timing of the flash how can we effectively prevent our allies from being blinded without imparting their fission for the entire fight?
>>
>>24575264
I couldn't recall which one had the light-deeming effects so I took a shot in the dark. But I imagine we could make some type of temp items that would prevent the allies we carry about from going blind when those things go off.
>>
>>24575287
>carry
>care
Fuck me.

You decide to begin with the more difficult subject first, that of space control. Deciding that you should get to the basics of it first.

What you discover is that this is a rather meaty tomb. The terminology is a bit difficult, but certainly not as difficult as the book from Langy’s library on rituals. Little more than the first half of the book involves itself explaining the concept of space and spatial relations. Of how the ‘vulgar’ see space, and how it actually works when it is applied to the realm of Aether. The first thing that the book lays clear for you is that in the magical world, the concept of “here” or “there” is useless and inadequate. Space can be more clearly defined in a way as a large loom of sorts, in where each string represents something. Now whenever someone sees, touches, or experiences something directly with his senses, his string is literally touching the object of the other. At that point you cannot literally get any closer to that object in question metaphysically. However it is when one moves away from an object that things begin to get more muddled. From then on, it all depends on how well the caster is able to visualize the target in his mind. If you do not possess an image or information on your target, than absolutely no space magic will work, period. But if you know someone you’ve known your entire life, than you are able to use space magic on them rather easily. This is called a metaspacial relationship.
>>
[2/2]

End result is the more familiar you are with a target (Be it a person, place, or thing), then the greater your success in space magic will be and the more effective it is. It isn’t based on how well you LIKE a person, but rather how well you know them. So even a deep seated fury on a subject works just as well as the more enamoured love.

Seeing as how you want to see the merchant twins later on tonight, you skip ahead a bit in order to find out sort of starter spells you can expect from Space Control. As it seems from water control, you are able to do a few useful tricks at the very least. At the beginner level of space control you’d be able to such things as detect exactly how well one person knows another in terms of a metaspacial relationship, see 360 degrees, see around corners, detect spatial relationships (such as when object is overlapping another in realspace), make accurate mental maps of your entire surroundings (including where people are, where an arrow came from, etc... Sharing a lot in common with Old World ‘Radar’), and the ability to track objects in your immediate area flawlessly. The next bit seems quite a big jump, as if you read it right, it allows you to use literally any of your spells against someone even on the other side of the continent!

Putting the book down for a second, you begin to wonder how you should prepare for meeting the merchant twins.
>>
I think that'll be it for now.

For reference, Brooklyn hasn't learned Space Control basic yet. He only just read the introduction and the metaphysical concept behind how space control worked.

I'll be here if you have any questions as well.
>>
>>24575398
See
>>24574941
>>
>>24574941

To appraise it you just need someone to look over it. Amanda or the Merchant Twin's father would have a better shot at ID'ing it than Brooklyn would. Those would Death Control or knowledge of Necromancy would get a bonus to ID'ing it.

Brodin doesn't know, as he's already tried and has no clue of what it does other than very high defense, which was incredibly obvious.
>>
>>24575451
Alright. Sounds good.
>>
Any idea when the next thread is?
>>
>>24575398
Did we ever determine whether there were any sizable groups of bandits left in the area?
>>
>>24575552

Probably when I get back to my home after my vacation, so Tuesday or Monday I reckon.

>>24575561

There are still two more major groups of bandits in the area left. Both of them now know Brooklyn as the Black Flame Huntress.
>>
>>24575451
We need to modify the family crests on it.

Also, succubi are all female, succubi + human = succubi.
Are pride demons all males?
Can a pride demon + succubus have a child?

Also, if things go well with the twins we should ask them about aeth royal. it would be a great way to gather energy for the queens without lots of sacrifices.
>>
>>24575788
>family crests
He's talking about the necromancer priests armor, not Blizzarios's.

>aeth royale
I'm fairly certain that a substance that is only used by those that can consume direct aether would be *highly* regulated. Not to mention expensive as fuck.
It would also send a huge red flag up, saying 'Person of extreme interest here!' about anyone who even asked about it.
>>
>>24575788

Pride demons are both male and female.

And yes, Pride Demons and Succubi can have children. The chances are 50/50 whenever it'd be a Pride demon or a Succubi. The odds are more slanted if one partner has more aether power than the other.
>>
>>24575571
Thanks for running this Sand. Hope you have a great vacation.
>>
>>24575997
I don't remember if we've been told this before, but what exactly does the different associated 'sins' mean for demons, aside from how they generally behave?
>>
>>24576051
Angelic classification scheme that stuck?
>>
>>24576051
Their aether is generally gathered in a fashion related to their sin. Such as Succubi gaining aether from sex while the pride demons gain aether from asskissing.
>>
>>24576140
>Sloth Demon gain aether by doing nothing and being lazy in geral
10/10 best aether gathering ability ever
>>
>>24576233
That might actually be worse than it looks. I mean you may want to actually get stuff done but instead you have to do nothing so you can get enough Aether to do stuff.

Everyone else can get energy while doing stuff, if they fall behind on a project they can work extra hard to catch back up, but you can't if you fall behind you'll have to laze around more to get more Aether which means you'll be even further behind.
>>
>>24576233
Or do the gather energy from the laziness of others? Would a demon of Sloth have to run around taking care of others needs to lull them into an aether releasing stupor? Probably not, but it is an amussing image.
>>
>>24576233
They get it from resting. They have to sleep most of their lives away. Seems like it would suck.
>>
>>24576286
We're talking about the "race" of demon that fought off the pride demons and summoned the lord of despair anon, I'm sure they have their own way to do stuff.
>>
>Be greed demon
>Really want aether
>Have aether

>Be envy demon
>Hey, it's totally not fair that the guy I'm fighting against still has aether while I've run out!
>Oh hey, I'm full again
>>
>>24576353
>be lust demon
>wow, that guy/girl's hot
>still hungry
why am I still on empty guys?
>>
>>24576051

>>24576140 is basically it.
>>
>>24576353
Oh, other types of demons can generate aether? Thanks, I missed that,
>>
>>24576296
Now I'm imagining a Sloth Demon who lives in a house in perpetual twilight with a pile of other people who live there. Nobody gets anything done, they just laze around bed, don't bother wearing anything more than pajamas, and watch old cartoon reruns all day while drinking hot cocoa and eating snacks.

That sounds really good.
>>
>>24576353
>implying greed demons aren't dragons sustained by their shinies.

I know this is not the case but one way i can see of justifying an angel's hypocrisy is that they have a high aether regeneration rate but take a hit if a near by mortal acts bad.
>>
>>24576479
Sufficient justification for genocide right there.
>>
>>24576470
So, the queen prison just far less sexy?

>>24576479
Or they get it from mortal worshiping them
>>
Or, like there are demons for every sin, there are angels for each virtue.
>>
>>24576479
What? I thought angels are like demons, but hide their 'sins' better. And have better PR.
>>
>>24576660
That would work if angels were actually virtuous.

>Angel of chastity
>Gets aether from cockblocking people
>>
Sandact, any chance of clarifying how each type of demon actually gets aether? Or how angels do?
>>
>>24576683
I think it's that they gain aether from things like Gratitude, Innocence and Patience. But just like there can be positives to 'sins' (eg. rage can be a righteous fury, one can take pride in a job well done), there can be negatives to 'virtues' (eg. innocence being ignorance, too much patience leads to complacency).
