You're about to hatch.

You've been warm, and sleepy, and only vaguely aware of your environment for some time now. But now, you know, it's time to get out, time to hoard, time to rule.

Choose one of the following:
>Sharper claws
Able to cut through more materials, never go dull, and various other uses.

>Strong wings
Flight earlier, able to use wings to 'punch' enemies, wings are also more durable.

>Sturdy scales
More durability in general.

>Wild mind
Psionics from birth.

>Magic mind
Magic unlocked earlier.
>>
Strong Wings!

The more possible ecological niches for us to inhabit, the more of a chance for survival. Also, I don't want to wait to fly.

Your mind runs wild, tingling in your head as you feel a surge run through your spine. Your claws may not be as sharp, your wings not as strong - but your head feels ready to burst with untold power. You crack open your egg, cawing out meekly as you stumble into the world.

The wooden floor surprises you, but not as much as the lonelyness. No parents, no brothers or sisters. Not even a nest, you were simply left on the floor, in the attic of some building! In your confusion, you look about, head spinning with unknown power.

Choose from the following Powers.
>Telekinesis
Allows you to exert your physical strength + Mind Power at a distance.
>Hypnosis
Allows you to put a sentient being into a deep sleep for a time determined by Mind Power.
>Kinetic Reduction/Redirection
Allows you to manipulate kinetic forces currently in action, with a limit of Mind Power.
>Burst
Allows you to raise the temperature in a location by your Mind Power in degrees.

A note: Mind Power is d10+1 currently. You can use powers as much as you like, but overuse will lead to painful consequences. Safe use is limited to 20 Mind Power used total each day.

You know, in the back of your mind, that you can twist a sentient mind against itself. Your current methods are brutish and simple, and lead only to a deep, deaf sleep. However, it is more than any dragon your age will ever have. You look around the room of your birth, idly gnawing on your eggshell. You will not need sustenance today, but tomorrow, you will need to find food.

A crack in the floor allows you to spy upon the owner of the home - a young human woman. After about two hours of watching, you discover no others living within this space. Pulling away from there, you move to the window in the attic, and look outside.

The look confuses you, at first, wondering what this valley pocked with holes is, until another human exits another of the holes.

Ah. These are all dwellings, you assume, picking up another piece of eggshell. You ponder upon your actions, now. The window could be pushed open, and you think you could glide to another dwelling. But how would you return here? Or you could explore this dwelling.

You get the feeling that getting caught or seen currently would be very bad.

Power use: Specify the amount of Mind Power you are willing to use, anything from d1 to d10. Bonus will be applied after your roll, do not include it. Daily limit does not include bonuses.
>>
>>24490230
Well, the power reads as "deep sleep". I don't think that would be "doesn't noticee while you gnaw their leg off sleep". But, perhaps knock them out, then go and bite their jugular.
>>
>>24490057
I THINK BURST WOULD BE A GOOD SKILL.
WE CAN LEARN OTHERS
>>
>>24490297
Lets see if we can skulk somewhere with somee victuals. We don't NEED food, but getting some grub in our hatchling bellies might be nice.
>>
>>24490297
I think we should carefully explore this dwelling for the moment. Stay hidden and avoid being seen by the human, we want her to eventually become a thrall not a meal.

Lets explore for the quickest and best hidden way into and out of the house other than the window
>>
>>24490230

Agreed actually, the classical image of a dragon soaring over a field and blazing it's way through a herd of cattle is now replaced with a fat neckbearded dragon with tiny wings slowly waddling towards the same herd and starring them all to sleep so it can eat at it's leisure.. GLORIOUS
>>
>>24490299
Or knock them out and sit on their face like a large cat until they suffocate.
>>
>>24490367
>>24490384
this is going to be the best dragon ever
>>
>>24490297
Too dangerous to go out, so explore the dwelling. Furthemore, we know that there is only one human here, easy to keep an eye on.
>>
>>24490297

Look/Sniff around for food, there is probably some mice in the attic we can try out our powers, they need to be used to improve, and get a little extra nutrition to grow with.

And I don't think we can assume from a few hours that she is alone...

You decide to explore the dwelling. You're the size of a large cat, and while somewhat ungainly now, you make your way to the stairs down, tail swatching at the air. You hear water pouring somewhere, and some soft sounds like voice. You pay little heed, and move into the area she was previously, a large room with many smaller doors. Your curiosity is great, and many options appeal to you, hopping onto a somewhat elevated area. Ah! Food, right out in the open, a great big... Round thing! It smells incredible, and it's almost as big as you, brown, smooth, warm and inviting.

However, due to its size, you can't possibly take it with you. But it smells of wonderful meat...

You tear yourself away, looking through the small doors you can reach, finding many greens and wheats. Your mind hinges - ah, what to take, what to eat! There is a veritable feast here!

What if the woman is a dragon breeder? Don't eat her, we don't know the circumstances as to how we came to be in this place.

You take some long stalks, hurrying back to your 'lair', laying them out as you eat your eggshell. The smell of the big round brown thing that smelled of meat hangs momentarily in your cravings, but you wait it out, thinking. The woman is still making those pleasant sounds along with some splashing in the other room.

Damn. You really want the big round brown thing that was in the shiny tin with the nice soft crust thing. Still, you suppose it would be suspect if it just vanished, or had a big hole in it. Mice scarper about and you need to scare them off by showing off your wings.

>>
>>24490748
No, we stay in our lair and wait for the night. Then we put the woman to very very deep sleep, and eat the turkey, or turkey remains. All woman shall suspect is that she ate something bad, and had a bad dream. She would be too busy trying to cure her headache to look for dissapeared turkey bones

>>24490783

Cooked bones are brittle and can splinter and do great damage to the digestive tract. Pick off the meat, avoid the bones. Raw bones are much safer, more pliable and easy to chomp on.

The mouse you looked upon blinks, then slumps over. The power is so simple, it's incredible. All it took was a glance, a stare, a look. And it was yours. You smile, finding it a joy to have such power over lesser beings, and enjoy your first earned meal, tearing into the neck. It awakens, but too late, as you swallow chunks of it with ease, reveling in the kill. Yes! Meat!

The taste tickles your neck, and warms your belly. You feel yourself invigorated, satisfied, but not entirely. You feel you can live up here indefinitely, simply feasting on mice, but something in the back of your mind calls to the thing in the kitchen, though the woman seems to have finished with her water activity.

Meat pie! Meat pie! You scrabble down the stairs, leaping onto the counter. half of the meat is gone, indeed, but you gorge yourself happily, growling and scarfing and rolling in crust even as you eat it. It's so good. So excellent! Feasting and feasting, you clean the tin, and then look down at it, seeing yourself inside it.

So shiny. Some unbidden instinct makes you pick up the light tin, as you look about for more food.
Ah! The flat round things in the depression on the counter have many scraps, and you happily lick and nibble them clean as well. Taking the tin with you, you return to your layer, laying it down and curling up in it. The meat feels fantastic in your belly, making you feel full and complete.

You burp, the high sound filling the rafters.

The question now - Now what?

We have a powerful mind. We can probably stick around, idly listen in on people's conversations and figure out certain phrases or noises.

We gotta start our first message with something. Maybe we can pose as an ambivalent friendly spirit?

Assuming we don't get bigger, which is what dragons are famous for doing.
>>

That depends on whether we want to be able to hide in anything.

And for this reason I suggest NOT purple.

Alright, let's do this!
>>
>>24491844
You slip into the water. It's cold! But the small round things at your feet remind you what you're after as you peer out. Two men are meeting late, standing with their backs to you. They wear heavy drab things, and speak.

"Yer late."
"I know, I know. Got held up. Smugglin's harder than it used to be, these days. Fuckin' Jimmys lef an right, yeah?"
"Do you have the product?"
"Of course I do. Money first."
"Foul bastard. Show it to me."
There's a pause, a box clicks open out of sight. "That looks excellent."
"Good. Now pay me, yeh bastahd."
Another pause as an exchange is made. The two leave.

Now then, you remember priorities. The fountain seems to be full of coins, littering the bottom. You can carry maybe three or four at once. Further, there are scrawny dogs and cats all over the area, you can hear and smell them, though you wish you couldn't on the latter.

What, like a big psionic IGNORE ME to their subconscious? I like it. That'll be fun to have around, like as long as we're on the periphery of their vision, people aren't inclined to look at us even if we're doing something somewhat noticeable like slowly walking. Probably breaks if we make noticeable noise or move too quickly because it would overpower the subconscious impulse to not care.

>>24492137
>.... what if we bring the tin and fill it up to the brim with coins?
You scarper back to your lair - though it's hard to get back in you manage by gliding from another roof and climbing the rest of the way. Pulling the tin back with you, you load it with money, feeling proud of your superior intellect over the last ten minutes. it takes time to empty the fountain into the tin, but you are quite satisfied with your new bed, difficult as it is to carry back home. You slide it into place in the attic, managing to slip under the house's door this time thanks to the motivation of there being no other way. Finally, you make it up all the stairs, push the tin into place, and clamber atop it.

Yes.

This is good. You curl up, tail around your body and wings closing around your body. Belly full of meat, laying on a bed of pennies and the like, you dream of days of gold and feasts.

Allows you to daze, confuse, and haze the mind of individuals. Number of individuals is based on Mental power, as is length.

Boku no Railcannon?

Does telepathy allow us to hear thoughts of others or only to send?

I want subconscious redirection.
That could be so much fun.

When can we expect the next thread??

I think he means the IGNORE ME sort of thing, rather than motion redirection.
>>
>>24492768
Combine it with telepathy. you'd get a practical Suggestion.
It wouldn't be a direct control, but it would be a whole lot easier to get them to do what you say,

I am a horrible person.
>>
The sleep from Hypnosis - the power - is just a sleep. They do not hear anything, or percieve anything during the sleep.

Burst cannot be used on an area you cannot see.

Telepathy is 'heard' as a voice distinct from the target's internal voice, coming from an unknown location outside their head. Subconscious expectations will even shape it. If you use it in a cave, for instance, the person will hear it echo.

You do not have the proper vocal cords yet developed to actually talk.

I'm not accepting the votes made between this post and my last, because I explicitly said voting for final tally would begin NOW.

I'm going to say that for the duration of time Telepathy is used, you can hear thoughts the other person is actually trying to send back to you. Otherwise, they will likely attempt to communicate by talking.

Final tally of power voting begins now.

And yes, this thread will likely end with the new power in place. Next thread will be next week at the same time as this one (around 10 Pacific.)

There's a character called Accelerator.

Telekinesis for sure.

The choice is hard between telepathy and telekinesis. We're rather small, so telekinesis could help us to move stuff we need to. But telepathy could open on option to make an human ally...
Well, let's go for telekinesis. We need to be able to move things.

tl;dr: telekinesis
>>
>>24492883
Telepathy.
We are in a city, communicating will be incredibly useful.
>>
>>24492965
Human ally can move things for us...
>>
I have a feeling that we are only going to increase our mental powers this whole quest.
>>

Tallying votes.
>>
>>24492983
Well, yes, but I don't think we will have an human ally anytime soon. Maybe we could make them not TOO offensive with telepathy, but no more.
IRL, if I found a little dragon that implored me not to kill him, maybe I would let him flee, but make him an ally? Not sure...
>>
>>24492883
So hypnosis is completely misnamed, got it.
>>
>>24493031
think of it like the pokemon move if it makes you feel better

Mental Cloud
or Suggestion if it comes down to a close vote.

Telepathy does us no kind of good right now.

Depends on fluff.
In Shadowrun, people would help the little dragon on grounds that they might have that favor repaid one day.
Dragons get old and powerful and have good memory.

Thanks for archiving. But I somehow doubt the final name for the quest is going to be Dragon Hatchling Quest. For one thing, he will grow up.
>>
>>24493193
Oh, yeah. Next thread will be Dragon Yearling, etc. The whole line will be Hatchling, though.
>>
>>24493193
Yeah, that thought crossed my mind too; I just didn't see an obvious better alternative. I figured that "Hatchling" wouldn't just refer to the dragon's current status, but also to why it was born from an egg alone in an attic somewhere; that's gotta matter.
