But whether you like it or not he does have a point. Your on the edge of known territory at the moment with your remaining troops. There are some lands not to far away that your imps have scouted out that could possibly be a good places to start anew.

>One land is filled with gold and gems but with few portals, not to forget the large outpost of heroes that are also mining the land. If the outpost discovers you, you will have to ether kill them all before they send word to the queen or flee once more. A hefty task indeed with such a low number of minions.

>The other land will force us to fight other fleeing keepers or perhaps have them join us, of course trust is a hard earned thing among keeper, even in the best of times. It's also a land with decent resources and portals, enough to share if one is not to greedy. There might even be lost minions there, that got separated from their keepers. They would join up with you if they can be located.

Here's how it goes, to give you a list.

Bile Demon Cost: Big, fat, slow, heavy hitter, can work in a workshop building traps and such.

Black Knight Cost: Brutal close combat killing machine.

Dark Angel Cost: Brutal close combat killing machine that also summons skeletons and throws around magic.

Dark Elf Cost: Ranged combatant, good for guard duty.

Dark Mistress Cost: Glass cannon with offensive magic, can run the torture chamber to convert captive enemies.

FireFly Cost: Fragile but fast scouts.

Goblin Cost: Basic (and kind of crap), cheap melee unit.

Imp Cost: Workers.

Rogue Cost: Sneaky scout and decent (but not great) combatant.

Salamander Cost: tough fighter who can move through lava and has some ranged combat abilities thanks to its spit.

Skeleton Cost: mindless combatant, immune to fear effects.

Troll Cost: not particularly great melee fighter, but the best for building things in the workshop.

Vampire Cost: melee combatant which can summon skeletons, and returns from the dead when killed, as long as it wasn't killed by something holy.

Speaking of minions, your small band consists currently of three dark elf's, triplets infact. He is at least knowledgeable of many things that you still need to learn so it pays to have him around. At the moment he's trying to get up from the river, but his heavy frame is quite a hindrance.

You stand and look around, it's time to keep moving but where?

You have the land full of riches but with danger at your door step.

There is also the land filled with other keepers, ripe for conflict and intrigue.

But you could also go further away from Hermonia to the place where few keepers have bin, migh be a rewarding choice.

It takes it's time to make it to the far land, there's much bedrock that your imps cant work, but eventually you find a piece of land that will work as a location for taking the form of a dungeon heart. Of course you could just stay in your humanoid form (how it looks is up to you guys), it has some advantages to the heart form, easier to move around and its more personal giving your minions a moral boost. But in comparison it has very little health and you can't collect that much mana. As a heart you get a steady mana flow and your “aware” of everything that happens on your land. But you can't move, defend your self and its quite impersonal to your minions.

Crunch time keeper, we will be using a turn based system to track time, during each turn you can do twothings before a new turn starts, this does not include commanding your minions to do things, build or mine, only thing that you specificity do like work at a forge or study in the library, after four turns comes the dreaded pay day. Thankfully your minions have agreed not to demand pay for the first pay day.

Also every turn there's a random even determined by a 1d100, you want to roll high keeper.

When you as a keeper do some thing the outcome will be determent by a 1d100, aiming high, for Battle, war, schema and plot i will look at the first 3 rolls, for building and mining i will look at the 5 first and for anything revolving magic the 6 first rolls.

I will also be using a map to track your dungeon, if this doesn't work then I will need to come up with something else, but for now it will do.

If you look, we basically have a 3x3 room to the east. 3x3 to the north, and 3x3-1 to the north-east.

Since lair does not need to be symmetrical it can get the 3x3-1 area to the NE, with 3x3 N being hatchery. That leave us with a workable 3x3 top the east.

Your Firefly returns rather quickly, he reports that the portal appears to be similar to the one he crawled out of, except that instead of blue crystals theres well carved stone with intricate symbols and creatures on it. He also smelled the stench of sulfur in the air. A much more pleasant stench than what Skull and Bulk makes, he points out. It lacked the bravery however to fly down in to the hole and take a closer look.

Based on what I remember from the games.

Prison, Holds enemies or our own creatures they will starve if left there without being fed manually starved creatures will occasionally turn into skeletons, as opposed to just dead bodies. Minimum size 3 each non-edge space adds 1 to the capacity.

Workshopused to build traps and doors minimum size 3 can hold 3 uninstalled mechanisms per 3*3

Torture chamber used to convert enemy creatures a mistress of pain makes it much more effective. Minimum size 3*1 with a wall or 3*3 without

Lair provides 1 bed per square

Hatchery minimum size 3*3 provides chickens each 3*3 area adds another coop speeding production and each square adds to the chicken capacity.

Library minimum size 3*3 can hold 1 artifact per 3*3 and allows spell research.

Is all this accurate?

You find that somethings you must do your self, as always but you decide that you want some initiative from your minions, even if he's only meant to act as a scout, so you force him to stay in the workshop with Bulk and Skull while your lonely skeleton guards him. The sound of terror and powerful farts echoes down your dungeon and your quite certain that Kin Kysheet has passed out with glee over the fly's gassy faith.

The portal is just like the fly told, large stone pillars emerge from the cold stone floor embedding them self in the ceiling. The decorations on the pillars are very exquisite, carved with steady hand and care, you might mistake it for dwarven work but they would never carve dragons and other monstrosity's in to their o so sacred stones, at least not while there getting eaten. As you and your mentor walk closer you pick up the faint spell of sulfur and something else.

The ground starts to quake and dust descends from the pillars and you hear a low but powerful growl emanating from the portals dept.

You walk up to the edge of the portal and with a strong and decisive voice shout.

"Wake up minion a keeper calls you!"

The growl grows increases in pitch and the ground continues to shake more violently. Kin Kysheet stands besides you trying to look intimidating, as intimidating as some one in very reviling spandex can and Saruman takes a few steps back ready to aid with magical support. Your mentor is no where to be seen, not that hes made for combat being the size of chicken.

You watch the dark hole in the portal as four pairs of blood red eyes starts rise from the darkness. The minion that emerges from the darkness is unlike anything you have seen or read about before. it's almost to large to slither up from the portal. The easiest way to describe it is as a large snake but with human head with six red eyes, no nose and no cheeks, giving you a front view of its fang filled maw.

You stand there having a staring contest with this new beast as it slowly slithers towards you.

It slowly hisses out "Keeper...."

Nice man. This looks like a great quest in the making. One thing that would be incredibly useful too is a list of fees for pay day per type of creature, and perhaps also training fees per turn.

Nice for a first thread. Using a well-known setting with a twist feels pretty much guarantees many interested readers and a lot of praise if you maintain at least mediocre quality. This is neither good nor bad but you should be aware of it. Keeping someone interested in something they already like is not that much an accomplishment. Speed was acceptable, creativity not yet noticeable enough to judge (though the core idea of having DK2 and DK1 meet in this way is decent).

It is a promising beginning but I will withhold further judgement until a few threads in.

If people here are interested in dungeon keeper stories I can recommend Dungeon Keeper Ami. It's a really well-made Dungeon Keeper - Sailor Moon crossfic.
