Welcome to Millicent Fauxly Quest.

Millicent Fauxly is an intelligent and good willed first year Hogwarts student. Housed in Ravenclaw and from a noble Pureblood family Millicent has a good understanding of the wizarding world, yet struggles with terms such as ‘mudblood’ and seeing house elfs as anything more than servants.

Rolled 88

"Everyone's asleep, try to be quiet"
"Will do"
"What's in the bundle?"
"My tent?"
"...why?"
"It's enchanted to be bigger on the inside, I didn't want to be in the way"

You give a huff and wander into the kitchen, take two slices of toast and press the button down.

"Tea?"
"Yes, please"
"Sugar?"
"I'm sweet enough, thanks"

You roll your eyes even more.

"JOEL" shouts Olivia's voice happily from the other room. She comes down the flight of stairs and hugs him happily.

"How are you?" she says
"Yeah, alright, you?"
"Great, how was your holiday?"
"Got a lot of reading done, went to Scotland with the family, now I'm here"

Olivia's enthusiasm for Joel is a little annoying...it's almost as if she likes him...like, like.

"Well I think we planned on going shopping" says Olivia, "Muggle shopping, not Wizard shopping"

"Sounds good" you say, handing them their teas. You catch a look in Joel's I as he surveys Olivia's home...when you had first met Olivia the first thing you noticed was her tatty, second hand robes. Her home, whilst still a muggle's, was clearly the home of a family which struggled to pay their way. The look you see in Joel's eye makes him look as if he's smelt something horrid. You feel a bit defensive.

Rolled 37

You decide to help Joel whilst Olivia goes upstairs to speak to her Dad about going shopping. In the garden you attempt to set up Joel's tent which happens to be a lot harder than you thought it would be. However, between to top-mark Ravenclaw students it isn't much of a problem.

Once you have the tent erected, which looks big enough to fit one person, you go inside and have a look. True to form the inside his much bigger than the outside, in fact, it's nicer, and bigger, than most of Olivia's house. It's a quaint living room with a green and black decor running throughout. There's a bookshelf lining one all and...an anaconda slythering about on the floor.

You all head off in Mr. Borchard's car, it's a pleasant journey, the rain looks sort of pretty as it pelts against the window. With you and Joel sat on either side of Olivia you can see she's having the time of her life, which in turn makes you happy.

When you arrive at The Mall, it's filled to the brim with people from all walks of life. You're driven into a parking lot which is several stories high and Mr. Borchard presses a button on a machine which gives him a ticket before moving on.

When you get out of the car you all go up an elevator, which you delight in pressing the buttons, and go to the ground floor.

The mall is many times bigger, and busier, than Diagon Alley, and it's only now do you really appreciate how dominant the muggle way of life is in England.

The first port of call is, where else? The bookstore!

Inside you find that Muggles have fantastic love for fiction of the magical variety, however, being a witch who'se constantly surrounded by it all the time, it doesn't quite impress you as it does her.

A couple of books catch your eye; Oliver Twist, The Count of Monte Cristo, Les Miserables, Great Expectations, Romeo and Juliet...The Star Wars Extended Universe novels.

Just for this exact cause your parents gave you one hundred pounds in muggle money, hopefully that should be enough to buy at LEAST one book of your choice.

Here's how.

_

Joel goes first. SWOOSH. Clears it like a pro. Next up is Olivia. SWOOSH. Nailed it.

Now for you. You run up, catch your foot on your robe and jerk forward as you lose control of the trolley, phasing through the wall and coming out the other end hitting some HARD.

'Ouch!' says a man who you bowl over, both of you, and a very upset Tara in her cage, sprawled on the ground. You clamber to your feet and pat yourself down, as the man you knocked down does the same.

In his mid-thirties a short man with shorted cropped black hair, a trimmed beard and a good natured face picks himself up off the ground and rubs his leg.

'Damn it!' he shouts in an American accent. Great, another one.

Yeah, Gringotts would exchange wizard money for muggle money. Hogwarts was in Scotland but Diagon Alley and Gringotts and were in London IIRC and the biggest banknote England issues is £50. Maybe they import £100 notes for some reason, I don't know.

Re: quest.

I find it interesting that despite the similarities in family background, Millie reacts with curiosity and excitement to muggle shit, while Joel seems uninterested and condecending.

I think it'd be interesting to hear about Joel's thoughts on muggles and stuff.
>>
>>24471329
Well if I remember right, general rule with purebloods is that they think muggles are silly, or less developed if that's the correct term I am looking for. since they don't have the conveniences of magic, hell Ron refers to doctors as "muggle nutters, who cut people up." I guess the best conclusion is that he might think of muggles and their technology as not as odd, possibly he is being calculating and thinks that after Hogwarts, he will never need to ever associate with the muggle world ever, so whats the point.
>>
>>24471329
No worries, you're doing awesome.

>I find it interesting that despite the similarities in family background, Millie reacts with curiosity and excitement to muggle shit, while Joel seems uninterested and condecending.

I guess that's the case because Millie is currently rather disillusioned with her parents, and by extend the wizard world. Despite being supposed to be pitied by wizards at best, Olivia's muggle parents appear to be doing an incredible job in the parenting department. They may not have a high social standing, and barely any money, but they appear to be much happier and approachable than Millicent's parents.

Probably got our young witch thinking.
>>
>>24471329
>>24471366
I think Joel just finds the Muggle world boring by comparison. He likes things to be adventurous and flashy, while Millie, on the other hand, has some scientific curiosity and loves to learn.

Joel only likes new things if they're exciting to him and Millie finds new things exciting in and of itself.

>>24471382
This is also probably true.
>>
>>24471399
You might be on to something there man. For some reason, I can't see Millie fully integrating into either muggle or wizard society by the time we graduate, which could leave us in like a perpetual learning mind set as we learn about the muggle world and such.
>>
Finally caught up.

I think Joel lacks empathy. It's seems like his own weakness.
>>
>>24471444
He's a pureblood, there's bound to be at least one problem if your family tree kinda looks like a circle.
>>
>>24471417
Yeah, I can see her doing that.

I think it really comes down to what career we consider pursuing for her in the end. I know ParanoidBro's got his heart set on Adventure Lawyer, but I see her as more an inventor or researcher as she's already proved to be good at it and the quiet and less-social lifestyle of the career suits her more right now.

>>24471469

I'm expecting Bergle's brother to show up and the Trident to be more adequately explained. I also suspect that the Trident has done more to Maud then just wipe her memories.

A plot or sub-plot related to Robert and/or the necklace he gave us seems possible too. Like I said earlier: I don't trust anything that the story goes out of the way to mention has been checked for bad stuff.

Plus it's a necklace that gives us LUCK. The single thing we need the most in this whole quest and it's very likely for us to become reliant and dependent on it. It's like the situation with Maud all over again.

My optimistic side hopes that all the trident did was take Maud's memories, but I suspect that it might be like a slow deterioration of other things perhaps like knowledge of spells, or personality, or magic ability, and can only be reversed by bringing back the old Maud and doing Salazar's bidding.

Millicient Fauxly, Special Muggle Relationship and Artifact Retrieval Liason Officer.

she works for the M.U.G.G.L.E. : Ministry underachieving group of goblin, guys and elves.
>>
>>24471399
Yeah, I mean Millie took it like an insult but from what I read Joel's just uninterested.

Well the tent was weird. Though maybe he thought her parents would object to a boy sleeping in the house, I could see some purebloods being very particular about that sort of thing.
>>
>>24471692
Her parents would explode like fucking Mega Man bosses.

It'd be great.
>>
>>24471935
It technically was an insult, but Joel definitely didn't intend it to be one. Just like when he called the shopping trip boring.

Also, he seemed to be very uncomfortable with the idea of staying in the house and practically said so himself. Since Olivia invited him and her parents agreed, thinking he wasn't allowed to sleep in the house is very very weird.
>>
Anyone else laugh at Charlie Day?
>>
>>24471686
I think that's just a nice thing Robert did. Shows he cares...or wants to get laid. One of the two.
>>
OP, if you're taking requests - I'd like to know more about our friends' families.
>>
>>24472180
I just believe something is up with the necklace. I only consider it a possible likelihood that Robert is aware of it.

A Slytherin boy suddenly treating us super nicely after being petrified and embarrassed in front of his friends is kind of weird, after all.
>>
>>24472221
Yeah, it might just be me, but I find both Joel and Robert a bit suspicious. Robert for the reason you just stated and there is something about Joel that rubs me the wrong way.
>>
>>24472246
It's not just you. Suspicions and paranoia are the way of life here.
>>
>>24472271
Well paranoia has saved lives quite a few times, just ask spies.
>>
>>24472246
I'm not sure if Robert's heritage is ever mentioned. He could be a pureblood or a half-blood. Also, what do we really know of Joel's thoughts on the blood system?

I love the idea of Indiana Robert btw. So cash. The reality of it, for the most part, would be like any other boring dig.

The only one we can trust is Sam. We saved him from a life as a cat, that's got to have earnt his loyalty. Unless he preferred being a cat? Nyo~ron~ :3

Who knows, maybe being transformed for such a long time makes it easier for him to become an animagi later on.

Robert's necklace may indeed have some far-reaching consequences. We should try investigate the enchantment on it, and ask him about the site it was found at.
>>
>>24472318
Actually, as someone with an Archeologist friends. Going on digs is actually really exciting even if the digs themselves are typically "boring". There is a lot of weird and dangerous shit that happens in foreign countries and bringing a bullwhip and pistol isn't a very weird thing to do.

The real "boring" thing about Archeology is that 70% of it is just research and paperwork.
>>
>>24472328
What about Olivia or Maud?
>>
>>24472381
I would say we can trust Olivia, she has proven herself a good friend. As for Maud, we can trust her until she gets her memories back.
>>
>>24472403
Well now the question is does she want them back?
>>
>>24472413
I think we'll have to wait and see about that. The new year is *cough* an open book.

>>24472379
50/50 library/out on the field work according to Indiana himself.
>>
>>24472381
Them, too. I was more thinking of in lines of which guys we can trust not to have ulterior motives behind their possible affections.

Though tbh anyone who misuses their cutlery is bound to be a dangerous radical.

How about the staff at Hogwarts, how trustworthy do you reckon they are? Trib probably has our back and we could perhaps wring some favours out of her should the need arise.

I mistrust Avori, Leverty and Lloyd. Seems to me they wanted to groom Millicent for some task, last year. We'll see what happens. If we're still having advanced lessons with them, it'd be a good opportunity to wrangle some intel about their past, and perhaps get some hints to their possible plan.

Did they know the Bergle Bros. and Trib at school? Hmm.

Mr. Olivier the DADA teacher seems like a bit of a doofus with his theatricals. I'm unsure as to where he fits in all this.

I wonder who the painting outside the Headmaster's office is of. He recognised us as a Fauxly. Significant, or a red herring?

Who will be our new Flying Instructor? And what's Mr. Gleesan up to, anyhow?

And most importantly, when will the quest continue?
>>
>>24472521
All this, and more tonight/tomorrow morning on HPQUEST!
Okay seriously, those are definitly good questions and hopefully we will learn about some of those, though why is Mr. Gleesan so incompetent? Letting 2 creatures (was 2 right?) almost go apeshit on us seems kinda irresponsible. That and yeah, what the hell is Professor Awesome and his two friends grooming Millie and Joel for? The Triwizard Tournament?
>>
>>24472521
I think that might have been our robe...changes color when we need it to. Just a hunch.
>>
>>24472559
Loydd strikes me as the type who collects people, like slughorn, but in a less callous way.
>>
>>24472571
Do you mean with the man in the painting? He was colour-blind, hence he didn't realise we were not in the righteous house of Salazar Slytherin.
>>
>>24472559
>>24472521
I personally think Lloyd and the guys are okay even if they do seem to be grooming Millie for something.

They acknowledged that we were going through more shit than any first year should ever have to and went out of their way to help.

Yeah, the 2 week isolation was harsh, but we DID Crucio a guy. We're lucky we're not expelled.
>>
>>24472645
We were lucky for 2 weeks. Could have been months.
>>
>>24471770
I don't know, if anything Maud seems smarter than she was before.
Which is honestly pretty suspicious.

I still suspect she was overstating how much of a jerk Salazar Slytherin was, and in reality she asked the Trident what she could do to un-fuck the situation she put herself in.

And it gave her an answer.
>>
>>24472788
The situation of irrationally hating her sister and wanting a new lease on life?
>>
>>24472991
Was it so irrational? Do you know how deep sibling rivalry can go?
>>
>>24472998
Wouldn't know since I just stayed the fuck out of my brother's life.
>>
>>24472998
Particularly when the parents basically encourage it.
>>
>>24473020
I'm basically Millie and my bro is Maud. I get it. Though he's never done anything like Maud has.
>>
>>24472991
Yeah, that.

I think that prank of hers spiraled out of control almost immediately.

Maybe she enjoyed being a good sister to us, which would double fuck her since it was built on a lie that would immediately destroy all the goodwill once it was discovered.

Like I doubt she had an endgame in mind for what would happen in the summer.
>>
>>24473065
Now I see. She wanted to be a good sister and not be based on a lie.
>>
>>24471686
>The single thing we need the most in this whole quest
Which is funny because Character Creation gave us both of the SUPER LUCKY traits available, Supernatural Luck and Lucky.
>>
>>24473090
Imagine if we didn't have that. I'm certain we'd be dead by now...though this could be counter waying the cambodia stuff.
>>
>>24469899
Some of the things I'm looking forward to in the indefinite future:

Field trip to the ruins of Camelot
Finding the Trident of Rowena Ravenclaw
Giving our mannequin to a ghost who we really shouldn't have
Hot Springs and/or Beach episode
Release of the True Fae from their interdimensional prison
>>
>>24473065
I think she may have offered ditching their parents and living with us because that's what SHE wanted. She started off hating us for taking our parent's attention, but then she realized far too late that we were just an eleven year old girl and it was the parents she really should have been angry at this whole time.
>>
>>24473077
That's my theory, and in my mind the best case scenario.

Either that or the Trident implanted subliminal programming.
>>
>>24473111
...I can't exactly disagree with her on that front.

The best thing you can say about our parents is that they don't try to be so awful.
>>
>>24473103
>Finding the Trident of Rowena Ravenclaw
You mean the Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw?
The Trident was actually a Salazar artifact, since the Chamber of Secrets was disproven.
>>
>>24473145
Yeah that, wouldn't be surprised if we need it to restore Maud's memories.
>>
>>24469604
Well, looks like Robert is still into us. Sounds like he enjoyed his break too.

>>24469736
Too bad we missed out on that fate point.

>>24469828
And here's Maud just in time.
>>
what if the necklace is a spycamera
>>
>>24473347
We will definitely have to investigate it.
>>
>>24473347
In that case I'm severely disappointed in Robert, I did not expect such lecherous activities from him.
>>
>>24473347
Okay... that's just creepy if it's true.
>>
>>24473347
It'll fry in Hogwarts. Muggle tech can't deal with the background magic. Gee, it's like you've never read Hogwarts: A History!
>>
>>24473472
I think he means the magic equivalent.

I'm sorry. But... the line is too thin. The relationship may cross the line and may make this quest all fetishy.
