As Langy lunges towards you, a darkness tentacle whips out and grabs his arm. You then use your supernatural strength in it to snap his arm like a twig.

Surprisingly, Langy does not scream from this brutal assault, dropping his own knife, but thin tendrils of blood work to pass it up along to his other hand, continuing his lunge towards you with rage in amidst his eyes.

You react as well, blocking his knife with a darkness tentacle just long enough for you to break down your axe with stone shattering force, slicing clearly through his arm as a spray of blood erupts from his wound.

Langy howls in pain, collapsing to the ground on his knees in front of you. He looks up at you with a gritted expression on his face, a mixture of both disgust that he has lost and fear in front of you.

“Are you... really going to go through with this?” Langy asks you, coughing out some blood as it pains him to speak.

You don’t give him a verbal response, rather you bring your axe up above your head, your darkness forming around it, twisting itself to make your axe sharper and more menacing than before. A small gleam of light reflecting off of its blade as the tendrils twist themselves around the back of it.

“I see... I may have failed to stop you here, but know this... The Pride demons are everywhere. Their forces: invincible. You may be inheriting my rank from me, but know that from now on know that every single waking moment will be spent constantly worrying about rivals attempting to take your place, even if the Pride Demons accept you.” Langy coughs once again, blood coming down from this mouth. “...Welcome to the ranks of nobility. May you choke on it.”

You reply is bringing down your axe on his body

Again...

And again...

And again...

Your vision goes red as you continue to do this, your mind blanking out and your vision flooding with red. When you come back to, you can see the remains of Langy scattered across the snow in front of you.

You lean back and give a mighty howl at the top of your lungs. Venting out the frustration you’ve had with him sacrificing innocents, live executions of burning people at the stake, considering the townspeople expendable, and finally critically injuring Mina. Years of pent of and repressed feelings coming out in one single, bloody howl that seems to echo throughout the entire city.

Bit by bit, you can feel your pulse begin to cool down now, your sense of vision and memory restored as you stand in front of the remains of Langy.

Upon hearing a noise, you turn around and take a look to see what it is. Gazing back you can see Ada and Mina just staring at you with expressions of pure and utter shock, which are similar to those of the several Royal Guard now standing a few feet behind them, most likely the main witnesses to hearing their Lord get butchered right in front of them.

Your breathing is laboured as you begin to think what you can possibly say to them about what lies in front of you.

Hmm, that was both more quickly and more publicly than expected. Priorities: state that we have no interest in running the town, we were just here to return a favor to a friend (careful not to look at Ada), and give our opinion that Langy was an incompetent leader for initiating an attack while his own subjects were still in the crossfire. We do not approve of innocent lives being wasted for convenience. Next order of business, get Mina some medical attention, stat! Finally, find out where Blizzy's bodyguards and the paladin are. We have to off and dispose of the paladin before our adventurers make contact and, hopefully, the badyguards should provide the queens enough aether to transform Amanda (doubt we'll get enought for Leona also).

If the twins aren't here by tomorrow we should probably cut our loses before moving on. We can't keep this one quiet (way too many witnesses, and given that Langy transferred his rank to us we might be scryable through that) and we're still not on par with a mid level knight. We should see if Ada even wants to stick around, I know she wanted to rule openly, but after the hornets' nets we just kicked up I think she could be convinced to join us on our trip to (New T.O.? Wherever that Okarinan library thing is...).

Sometimes less is more man. A short comment about liberation at most, then quickly disappear. Then a little later Brooklyn shows up to find out that her house is gone along with her neighbors, and gets to listen to stories about what happened from the people that were actually there to witness it.

Modified do this. Drop our shadow form to our Miranda persona as we turn and walk to Mina. Use the remnants of our rage fueled haze to ignore our physically weakness as we pick her up and princess carry her to the doctor (maybe use some magic to cheat if necessary). Yes.

You turn around and take a step towards Mina and Ada, everyone behind you jumping as you take a step towards them. A few more steps and a simple gaze later, you send the quivering Royal Guards running for their lives, begging to be spared from the Nightmare demon.

Once the guards are out of the way, your darkness form slowly melts away bit by bit until it exposes your true body bit by bit.

“B-Brooklyn?” Mina asks you as you walk over to her.

You don’t reply in words, rather you walk over to her, giving Mina a big hug as tight as you can.

Mina is surprised by this at first, before she smiles in return, wrapping her left arm around you and giving you a hug in return, several tears strolling down her cheeks and onto your face.

“...Ada.” you call out after a few minutes, looking down at Ada. “Now’s your chance. Go and enact your plan before the inferno this ficaso has caused will turn into a hellstorm.”

Ada looks at you in a stunned expression for a few more moments, before finally reacting. “R-Right! Got it!” With that, Ada runs off back towards the Langy castle, once again leaving both you and Mina alone in the park. Sounds of panic can still be heard throughout the area of the city as you remain in place with Mina.

“...So... What are we going to do now?” Mina asks you. “Your entire house was nearly vaporized by Langy’s machine...” Mina says as you both listen to the sounds of the town in an uproar.

A few tears fall down your cheeks as you hear the sounds of battle ringing over your hometown. “I... I wanted Langley to answer for his crimes, I wanted him to answer for all those lives he had taken with his blood sacrifices to give him power, I wanted him to be judged by the people of fort hope for the many atrocity he has committed... “Ssshhh... Brooklyn... Don’t think of yourself like that. I’m sure that due to the crimes committed here today, Langy is going to go to the worst possible version of Hell. If anything your actions here today made you a hero.” Mina says using her left arm to rub your back.

“And if it wasn’t for me you’d still have your arm!” You say to Mina.

“And I’d still be stuck in the Adamant Door!” Mina quickly retorts as she uses her arm to wipe away your tears.

“...Will it grow back?” you ask Mina while you look at her stump.

“I... I’m not sure...” Mina says looking down at her charred arm remains, wincing as she does so. “It still burns like nothing I’ve ever felt before, and I never really had to test regenerating a lost body part before...”

You can only give a pained sigh as you run your hands over your eyes in pain, not exactly the response you wanted to hear. The very fact that Mina has a chance of having permanent damage because of you is something that pains you quite a bit.

“Ssshhh... Relax... I’m sure if we find some sort of healer I can get my arm fixed up in no time. I’m able to use both of my hands well, as after all, martial arts involves use of both hands.” Mina says, running a hand alongside your face.

“...The political climate is in the middle of turmoil right now. So the first thing I need for you to be is safe.” you say to Mina as you grab a clean piece of Langy’s clothes. You grab some snow and use your water control to liquify the water into a cool temperature and delicately put it on Mina’s arm. Mina winces slightly, but offers no resistance. “Dr. Gaterkin will know vastly more than I do about your injury. We should go and see him.”

“But what about the other people!?” Mina immediately replies. “My arm was burned off yes, but what of all those other people who were underneath those crushed houses? They’re probably going to be in far worse shape than me!”

Typical Mina. Seeming to always think of others before her own well being.

Do we have the Aether to pull that off at this time? I imagine we're pretty low and don't feel like going down even more so. I'm not saying we shouldn't help or get others (adventure group) to start helping but we need to be smart about this too. Plus we kinda need to save Mina from her self also. This needs to be checked out. Sooner the better.

Well, looks like we're stuck I charge of this situation for now. Send someone to round up all the medics in town to treat the wounded. Then do a montage of rescuing people while carefully watching Mina in case she's much worse off than she's letting on. We can't let the Blizzy's bodyguards slip way while we're doing this though.

I'd rather not stay here any longer than necessary. We just helped destroying the town after all.

Apparently we revealed Brooklyn's true form, so I'm not sure that would help. My concern isn't for the mortals of fort hope, it's for the pride demon nobility. Who will shortly have our name, verification that we are some kind of female demon, and a rough power level estimate. I'm thinking we don't visit the queens until we can prevent Brooklyn from being scryed, which may complicate our planned transformations.

Well, since it seems like we'll be leaving Ft. Hope soon, what are the opinions on who we should take with us and who we should leave to support Ada? I assume the plan is to take Mina, Brodin and the twins (if we successfully recruits them after this mess) and leave the rest at home, but I'm curious as to everyone else's thoughts on the matter.

“You’re right about that. We start with the critically injured, meaning we start with you!” you say as you scoop Mina up into your arms.

“N-Nani!?” Mina gasps as you pick her up.

“No buts. We’re taking you to a doctor right away. Demon or no, having a fourth degree burn is not something one should take lightly.” you tell Mina as you begin walking. “It is admirable that you want to help others, but one needs to know their limits. Your limit right now is to get some rest for you to properly heal.”

“I... Y-you’re right. As much as I hate to admit it. Both my aether and physical health are not in the best of conditions.” Mina says as she reaches over to put her hand on your shoulder. “But anyone in worse condition than me will be going ahead of me!”

“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” you reply to Mina as you continue the trek towards Gaterkin’s office.

The trip there is filled with both panicked people, chaos, and destruction. The Poseidon certainly did a number on the town during the battle. The mercenaries are doing their best to help quell some of the chaos, either by charity work or by groups of people providing them the gold needed for their support.

When you reach Dr. Gaterkin’s office, you can see people nearly lined up and out the door due to their injuries. Ranging from everything to a bloody head to crushed limbs. Both you and Mina’s hearts fall a bit upon seeing this.

“...I’m going to go back with the others to help with whatever efforts I can.” you tell Mina as you put her down.

“Be safe.” Ada says as she gives you a small peck on the lips.

“Always.” you reply giving her a small peck back before running off to assist.

The damage report amongst your group is pretty heavy in of itself. Brodin was badly injured by the plasma cannon from the Poseidon, but unlike Mina he appears to be in one piece and will recover completely in time. But in his current state he is unable to do any sort of work, drained of both aether and vitality. He decides to call up a temporary replacement Reaper to do his job, as likely the vengeful ghosts generated from this event will be a massive problem otherwise. Ironfist, the Adamant Door owner, agrees to give Brodin a room to rest in while he recovers. The least he could do for his new best customer.

Sebastien goes around helping rescue teams locate any trapped people within the rubble of houses. Using the cover of the houses, he was able to avoid nearly all of the damage from the engagement. Erika however had critically overextended herself, a literal hair away from having a migraine headache. You agree to help Erika get to Amanda’s bath house safely, where she is able to rest herself up away from any sort of loud noises that are everywhere in the city currently.

The Adventurer trio took some damage. Alex took a few bullets from the autogun turrets while Troy is suffering light burns from all over his body due to the electric shock that the Poseidon gave him. Uilodsir is absolutely fine aside from a few cuts and scrapes he had when diving for cover. Alex, despite his injuries, is able to still stand and joke around but says he’d rather not push himself unless he absolutely needs to. Troy is able to walk somewhat, but he needs to rest easy for a few days himself.

You help out as much as you can yourself. Your powers being recharged nearly as fast as you can use them with the massive influx of emotions in the air. Many of them being a fairly sour or bitter taste. Most of it is mainly covert usage, such as a piece of rubble ‘magically’ being pushed out of the way despite appearing to be too big for several mercenaries.

Eventually in the late afternoon, an announcement from Langy castle comes up. After a lengthly discussion by the ruling elite in the castle, the next Lord of the city is now none other than a Miss Marina Langy. The next successors in line stepping down for various reasons, and even to go as far as suggesting her. People who follow the Langy family even moderately well for a peasant are somewhat confused by this, but the vast majority of them don’t care as the Langy family begins to hire out mercenaries en masse to help rescue and restore order to the city, followed by long term plans to repair the city in order to restore it to its former glory. Reparations are being paid out to anyone who suffered some sort of damage as a result from the last ruler.

You sit down admist the ruins of your own house, sitting against a piece of rubble on the ground as you hold the picture of your family taken back when you were a child, the reflecting back upon more innocent times helping you to recover from the chaos of the day from earlier. Nearly everything in your house is now incinerated. A few of your old world books survived, but virtually nothing else has apart from your fireplace. Currently being put to good use as burns carefully in the night sky. You think the time is probably a little bit before six o’clock.

“Hello Sebastian.” you say as you hear familiar footsteps behind you.

“I can see the day’s events have been rather heavy on you.” Sebastien says sitting down next to you.

“How’s Brodin?” you ask.

“He’s a tough bastard, so he’ll live. The replacement Reaper will be here sometime tomorrow.” Sebastien says offering you a flask of liquid.

You take the flask and gulp down the liquid inside of it. The hard alcohol would serve to be a giant slap to the face if you weren’t already pummeled metaphorically. “I just paid the fucking rent on this thing the other day...”

“Rent should be the least of your worries.” Sebastien says as he gulps down the drink. “Anyways, I managed to sneak in a small mental conversion with Ada.”

“Busy?” you ask.

“An understatement, but I could feel as if she were content. Kid’s made for this sort of thing.” Sebastien says. “She was also thinking of making you an offer.”

“Oh?” you reply.

“Yea. She wanted to know if you wanted to be the Langy Head Magician or Teacher.” Sebastien replies. “Should provide you a place to stay if you wanted too. Even then she offered you a place in the castle until you’re able to get back on your feet.”

“A commoner living in the Langy castle? Wouldn’t that cause a commotion?” you ask.

“Compared to what has happened out here? I doubt anyone will care.” Sebastien replies.

Once both Stacy and Katlin are sitting down, eagerly paying attention to you, you hold your hands up into the air. A cloud of pure darkness envelops one of your hands while a bright shining light can be seen in the other. The sheer sight of it makes both the twins jump back, their auras radiating the smell of fear.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you.” you say quickly reassuring them. “Yes, I am able to control aether for various spells and their effects. I can control darkness and light, two different sides of the same coin in addition to some other fields as well. It would be rather silly of me to say so otherwise after the events that have transpired here today.”

“A-Are you in service to Lord Articus?” Katlin asks.

You shake your head at her reply. “No, I’m not registered at all. I realize the risk that entails, but I prefer not to live my life as a slave to the Pride Demon Empire. To start feeding succubi feed off of aether like all demons.

succubi feed off ambient emotions all the time each emotion has it's own taste. Just by being in close proximity to a group of people experiencing a strong emotion is enough to be full. This is the preferred and mostly used method of feeding.

Succubi can also feed off of any person by kissing or doing any sexual activity. Usually they only take a small bit that usually a day is enough to restore. Some times an inexperienced succubi may accidentally kill, usually during a sexual act. Reason why most young succubi need to be tutored so they don't accidentally kill someone.

Succubi don't have sudden urges to consume souls. They can however get hungry if their aether gets low an uncommon occurrence usually happening if one expended a lot of aether. Think of it as if you yourself got hungry and kept thinking about food. You would be appalled at yourself but you can control yourself.


Tamer is a term the pride demons coined to make what they actually do palatable to any moral person... What they do is break succubi. They often torture them until they are broken giving up their mind and soul to their new master. It is a sad state to for them in they are are compelled into doing whatever their master says and the master can brainwash them into likening it without ever knowing who they were before.
