I pull her into a hug, and she lets out a small surprised squeak. "Onii-chan?"

"Sorry. I just... I felt I needed to do that." I answer, letting her go. She smiles back a little sadly. "Is there anyway to change that? Make someone or something else the vessel?"

"With me being the dedicated target for the Spirits?" She answers. "Maybe if they did something like tear out my heart and implant it elsewhere." She sees my eyes widen. "Or, I guess someone could try and use an older Grail that was still intact. You would need to either find and repair the original artifact, or somehow...." She hesitates. "Actually, I'm not even sure of any other option, given how the last war ended."

There's a long moment of uncomfortable silence. "There's no other way?"

"No. Well, Maybe I could survive the process if it was done quickly and cleanly especially since I took precautions. Having that much raw magical energy might have other consequences to my health though."

"... Huh." I say, for lack of anything else to say. "Well, maybe someone found a way around it. Gilgamesh and Avenger seemed surprised to find out he was missing, since he apparently sent them running."

"But then who's left to-" She hesitates, eyes wide. "Zouken. He claimed to be involved in the original forging of the Grail system. He would know how, if there was a way."

"He said he didn't though."

"And you believed him?"

".... Good point....."

File away "track down Zouken" under our list of shit to do, and go help make breakfast.

On a completely unrelated note: I finally tracked down a decent chinese restaurant to satisfy my burning curiosity about mapo tofu. It was tasty as fuck, but the level of spice didn't even register on the REJOICE scale, despite it being marked as a "spicy" item on their menu. Come to find out that in MURRIKA, they pussify mapo tofu so they don't offend our delicate murrikan taste buds. Fucking 'Murrika, all I wanted to do was rejoice over some extra-angry tofu, and you can't even give me that.

Consider that Archer has met up with Zouken and assassin, perhaps we should call Issei.

Ask him to tell Archer that we want to meet with Zouken and that he can send assassin.

We can mack on that servant when he comes to disturb our sleep again.
>>
>>24391002

Mapo Tofu is amazing but you either find any store in asia or have to find a good one deep in the bowels of a chinatown. Look for the ones which are filled almost entirely with asians.

Caster gained control of Saber and signed the Geass on day 7, this is currently the 11th day. Unless we talk to caster and formally take Saber back, Caster keeps her for a few more days.
...Unless we let Caster keep Saber for a day so she won't be defenseless while she sets up elsewhere in the city.

Its been explained a few times, but I guess I have to do it again: WE AREN'T SWITCHING PLACES WITH AVENGER IN OUR SLEEP.

Merlin was just scrying on him, but thought he was scrying on us, and was too much of a derp to double-check his work. How he made that mistake? Who the fuck knows. Either Avenger is a master of mystical deception or we're the same person metaphysically. In either case we aren't body-swapping in our sleep. Or maybe Merlin was just intentionally being a derp as a roundabout way to give us a hint, because he's a dick like that.
>>
>>24391193
>>24391228
Didn't he specifically say not to tell anyone? But if we do decide to confide in someone in the most secretive way we know it should be Rin.

Wait! I know how we do it. We just have to be in the box. No way Avenger could eaves drop on us if we're in the box.

I wander to the kitchen and see Sakura cooking happily away. "Good Morning Sempai." She greets me with a smile.

"Morning. Mind a little extra help?" I ask, leaning on the counter.

"If you want. There's not much else to do though." She answers, looking around at the Kitchen. "All I'm really doing is waiting for the rice to cook."

"Alright then." I respond, forcing myself to shrug like it doesn't matter; with the weight of a thousand mountains on my soul. I hear the doorbell ring and wander off before Sakura can notice my discomfort.

I'm not terribly surprised to see who it is. "Arcueid." I smile. "Good Morning."

"Mawnin'." She says with a wide enthusiastic grin. "Did I miss breakfast?"

"No, you're actually a little early."

"Yay~" She smiles and walks inside. "Homecooked meals always taste better. I was afraid I'd have to eat on the train or something."

"....Train?"

"I need to leave." She responds, notably less cheerful but still smiling as she turns to me. "As much as I'd like to keep mooching off of you and staying among friends you guys have a Thing happening. I'm not allowed to get involved in strictly human affairs."

".... What do you mean? There's weird stuff like Vampires too."

"-A- Vampire." She sighs. "Mages still fall under the broad category of 'human' along with all the stuff they make. So wizard feuds, political disputes and such I'm not allowed to involve myself in. No matter how bad it could get without my intervention."

".... Really?"
>>
>>24391537

"Yeah. sometimes it bugs me too, but I'm way to powerful and connected to the world to just do as I please all the time. I mean, just hanging is fine, but I can't get involved unless someone directly threatens me or something." She frowns. "Sadly, just hanging in this situation is a little too close to infringing on my neutrality just by being here."

"So you have to leave?"

"Until this is over, yes. I mostly came to say my goodbyes." She smiles. "Maybe we can visit again when this is over though? I think Shiki would like you."

"The same Shiki who apparently stabbed me in the imagination over a chair?"

She hesitates and smiles a little more nervously. "I'm sure that was a fluke. He's really sweet. He'll be nice if I tell him to."

After a long moment of hesitation, I tell her that I wouldn't mind her visiting in the future, boyfriend or no and she gives me a hug that threatens to crack my ribs before letting go.

"Yeah, alright. Shiki would probably like it if I went to see how his Sister was doing while I'm relatively local anyway."

"... Hey, if things here get out of control...."

"As uninvolved as possible."

"I'm only asking because of the apparent possibility of the Grail turning into some form of malevolent God."

"As unfortunate as that would be, it's still a case of humanity harming itself. If humanity harmed some aspect of nature outside their domain I could get involved. If things outside the purview of humanity starts to prey on your kind, I get involved. If more than one sphere of the world get mixed together I can get involved. As long as it's all the work of man though, I have to maintain a strict hands-off policy if it has any scale of impact greater than a simple schoolyard scuffle." She smiles apologetically. We head inside together, and Arcueid regretfully informs everyone that she has to leave, and that she and Satsuki would be catching a series of trains and buses home.

The news is greeted with a mixture of sadness and relief, and everyone says their goodbyes before moving on to more important topics.

Caster informs me that she's going to be spending most of the morning getting her new base ready, but will be able to start investigating the runes by early afternoon. Rider mentions in passing that she switched back to Sakura the night before, and Saber is informed by Caster when she asks that she would be able to pass her back to my ownership by dinner at the latest.

Satsuki seems concerned about knowing all this is going on, until Arcueid tells her that if anybody questions it to tell them that she's considered to be under her personal protection. Effective forever.

Sakura contributes little directly, but nods and listens attentively to what everyone else has to say.

Currently the discussion is veering towards finding out what Zouken's up to since he's been quiet for too long, and trying to decipher the runes.

And would it be confusing enough to get him to call us so he can ask for an explanation of what the fuck he just heard?
>>
"I think I'm going to try contacting Zouken today." I add in, which gets me a handful of confused and worried glances.

"How? And why?" Rin asks.

"Well, the 'Why' is fairly obvious. He's a rather major player in events and I haven't seen or heard from him since Archer kidnapped you. Given the fact that he's a powerful and intelligent Wizard in charge of a super-powerful stealth based murderer I figured it would be a good idea to know what he's up to."

"Makes sense." Souichiro comments idly "How exactly would you even contact him though? I was under the impression that him house burnt down."

"I figured I could place a personals ad under 'missed connections'. There can't be many cases in town of an evil wizard getting hit in the face with an exploding sword and then not dieing like he should." I take a small mouthful of rice and notice the concerned look Sakura's giving me. "That will be the real trick though: Not devolving into irrational hate-speak the moment I actually get a hold of him. Or on him."

I get a few concerned looks, and eventually everyone agrees that doing something about Zouken is wise.

After breakfast, I leave a message with Issei who promises to pass it along the grapevine as soon as he can.

Breakfast is over, and Caster has left with her Master. rider and Rin prepare to leave together to start investigating the runes, and Sakura opts to go with so she can do some shopping while they're out and about. I manage to put together a quick bento for Arcueid and Satsuki as they leave, which gets me a startled thanks from the brunette and a peck on the cheek from Arc that shocks everyone that isn't her.

...Maybe. Saber showed up to help us WAY faster than should have been possible even for a Servant, so we flipped out and were like WARNING WARNING, IMPOSTER ALERT, and low and behold it was an imposter.

>>
There's a mounting sense of frustration from all of us at every site we visit, as we all get the feeling we're overlooking something relatively obvious that's going to come back to bite us.

I sigh, shaking my head after the fifth rune. "Let's do something else. Get some shopping in and come at this from a fresh perspective."

I get some nods, and I once again find myself outside of a reasonably upscale fashion outfit as a paranoid sounding board for Tosaka's sense of fashion. And then Sakura eventually joins in after getting teased into doing it by her sister.

I'm interested to learn that Sakura's normal clothes do no form of justice whatsoever to her figure. I mean, she was always pretty but good lord she has at least three times what I thought she had under that loose-fitting blouse of hers.

Between my intent to remain civil and composed in public, rider's teasing, and the constant parade from the sisters the mounting desire for anything in the universe to distract from what's happening is broken when I notice Kirei a fair distance away while the girls are back inside the changing rooms.

The main reason he catches my attention is the relative lack of priestly garb and the fact that one arm appears to be in a sling.

We are now suddenly aware that since Gil never went away after the 4th Grail War the Grail system probably still considers Kirei a Master. This means that if Berserker did recontract with someone to stick around, it's possible that it could have been Kirei.

And that his sling could be a ruse to hide his command spells.

"Rider?" I mumble, feeling her presence next to me.

"Yes?"

"I just saw Kirei. I'm going to go speak with him. Mind telling the other girls?"

"The 'other' girls now is it?" She responds with a certain smugness in her voice as I walk away. I catch up to Kirei outside a store selling what looks like cooking supplies.

He gives me a curious look as I approach. "Shirou. What brings you to the mall?"

"Taking a breather while investigating. What happened to your arm? you look like you've been in a war or two."

He smirks very slightly. "Something like that. Had an unexpected visitor last night."

"Oh?"

"Zouken's made a move of some sort. I'm not sure why, but he attacked the church apparently under the belief that I was secretly Lancers Master and abusing my position as overseer to plot an easy win."

"... and you survived?"

"An evil spirit and a Vampire attack a fully trained executor Magus in his sanctum and you're surprised I survived?" He hesitates, sighing wistfully. "I'm honestly slightly ashamed that they wounded my arm and forced me to retreat."

"That's why you ditched the normal Priestly garb?"

"I believe he set a magical tracker in it somehow, yes. That's also why I chose a mall: Nice and public while I plot his painful demise." He looks at the bags he exited the store with. "Figured I might as well grab ingredients for that bake-sale I'm supposed to host next week while I'm here." He then gives me a questioning look, like he's both debating asking me a question while waiting to see if I had anything else to add.

Perhaps even daring me to question his plans for a bakesale after the War.

Under Nasuverse definitions Zouken isn't a vampire, and I think we can trust a church Executor to know better than to mix up Vampires and non-vampire bloodsuckers, even when talking about them in a conversational manner.

Unless he's just saying this because he assumes Shirou doesn't know any better and thinks it'll get the point across.

>>24395275
Pretty sure he KNOWS the grail may be a hate machine since Merlin let us know he was trying to make a wish with it while Saber was blowing it all to hell.

According to his notes, communing with the grail was what tipped Kiritsugu off to the fact that something was wrong with it, so it seems like a safe bet that Kirei got the same kind of message and decided it was still a good plan to start Grailin' it up.
>>

>>
"Wait. Wait, back up. Vampire?" I give him a critical look. "I thought I killed the Vampire."

"Hmm?" He blinks suddenly and shakes his head. "The church technically classifies Zouken as a Vampire due to his parasitic nature and method for prolonging his own life."

"So he's not actually a Vampire?"

"He's not a Dead Apostle type vampire, if that's what you're asking."

"Ah." I look at the bag he's carrying. "So what're you making for the Bake sale? Brownies? Good cost to output."

"Actually, I saw a recipe for spice cake I was interested in." He begins walking and we find ourselves at a nearby bench a moment later. We sit at for a long moment before he turns to me. "So. Have you found any answers yet?"

"... About what?"

"The last time the two of us spoke privately, you had some questions and concerns about yourself you were asking. Since you came to me in my professional capacity as a Priest and a Counselor, I figured the responsible thing to do was to ask if it helped."

".... Not really, no. Well.... actually maybe a little since the fear of me being some kind of soul devouring monster made me want to dig into myself to make sure I wasn't endangering my friends by existing."

"Ah." He smiles slightly, in a way that feels like he's trying to comfort me but isn't entirely sure how and he pats me on the shoulder. "I suppose I could have phrased that better. If it helps, being a demon that's hell bent on subsisting on everyone's happiness is pretty much the best possible outcome for being a monster that shouldn't exist."

"Not helping."

"You are remarkably difficult to console." He responds, looking across the mall.

>Actions?
>>
>>24395283
Don't think Gil/Avenger wouldn't want to dispose of Kirei since according to Merlin Exposition Time (tm) Avenger has something over Kirei such that he's able to blackmail him into providing the energy to sustain Gil. (Via orphan souls. Good guy, that Kirei.)

(This is a thing we probably WANT to bring up to Kirei, what with our ideals probably lining up with "don't feed the souls of orphans to an ancient spirit under duress by a half-cocked incarnation of evil", but not sure if there's any delicate way to bring it up, let alone how we'd explain where the knowledge came from to our people so long as we're keeping Merlin a secret.

>>24395357
IIRC Zouken has changed himself to the extent that he is not human anymore. He's just blood worms taking human shape. This means he's not a Human that prays on other Humans, so he's off the list as far as the church is concerned.

I'm pretty sure the only non-Vampire bloodsuckers that get grandfathered into being considered Vampires are those that kill a Dead Apostle Ancestor and take their place.

>>
>>24395459
Take a quick look at what he's looking at then ask him if he knows a way to contact Zouken. If there's like a Zouken signal we can use on the clouds tonight. We neeeeeed someone experienced with grailshit to sort this out.

>>24395462
I know Kirei knows but the less vamp action mentioned the less "happy" kirei can get
>>
>>24395495
Not sure on this. On the one hand, Kirei is apparently in deep shit with Avenger or something. Asking about what their deal is might be a good idea if we want to help him out. On the other hand, we'd be revealing what we know to him, which might not be too clever since we don't quite know where he stands on matters.

At any rate, don't ask about contacting Zouken - I doubt he'd be willing to share those methods with us since Zouken just attacked him. What we SHOULD ask Kirei is how we might put Zouken down permanently, since he's a vampire killer and might know how this shit works.
>>

Guys, why do any one of you, let alone more than one, want to reinforce our eyes (a thing we have never done, is outside our realm of expertise, and if fucked up will probably BLIND US) for no reason other than "maybe it will let us look better at the thing he's looking at."

Reinforcement just makes shit stronger. In physical structure. We would just be giving ourselves an artificial glass eye. Made out of a perfectly functional ACTUAL eye.

And you think pretending to have a cyborg eye is going to disconcert Kirei, who literally just explained to us that he was attacked by a 500+ year old parasite and (probably) Assassin and WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT HE DIDN'T 1v2 THEM.

I don't even fucking know anymore.
>>
I gaze across the mall in the direction he is. There's a couple of things that grab my eye: a parent trying to discipline her unruly child, an irritatingly sweet couple feeding each other ice-cream, and an older gentlemen demonstrating an array of cooking knives.

Finally I ask him. "Are you looking at anything in particular?"

"Not really. Keeping an eye out for anything suspicious, but mostly just people watching."

"Really?"

"I find it interesting. There's a lot of inconsistencies in human behavior. People always say lieing is bad, but actually telling your wife that the dress indeed makes her look fat is considered frowned upon. What's most interesting is when they're under stress."

"Really?"

"Most people walk around wearing a mask of some kind. Look at Rin. She's nothing but poise and class around most people, but if you know what buttons to push it's not hard to make her emotionally upset. She also plays at being a serious magus without regard for the lives of others, but at her core she's just a little too soft to actually manage it." He frowns. "People have many varied layers, some of which they don't even know about themselves. The more stress, anger, pain, and fear that's applied the more layers get stripped away until they're nothing more than their basic primal instincts. What's even more interesting is how when recovering things change from how they were before, meaning the same person could have several life-changing tragedies and change drastically as a person every time."

"What about happy things?"

"Happy things like that don't tend to be as life changing. Generally when something good happens you want to go for the good to make it keep happening, and when something bad happen you want to change so the bad stops happening."

"... Not going to lie, that kinda makes you sound like a Serial Killer."
>>
>>24395939

"I can see why. I'm not saying I kidnap people and torture them for my personal amusement, I just find people interesting. People suffering are just more dynamic and therefore more interesting. It's one thing to feel that way and quite another to actively wish for massive horrifying devastation because it gets you off."

"Any plans for taking down Zouken?"

"I believe he's still at the Church because he doesn't like the sun. I plan on stopping in at around noon and crushing the spiritual form keeping him alive and sending him into the afterlife. Once he's dead I can banish Assassin like any other wandering spirit."

"You've thought about this."

"Since the last war, actually. Zouken and I disliked each other even then, and I wanted to be prepared for when it came to a head"

"... So how's Avenger doing?"

"Gleefully condescending the last time he stopped in to taunt me on his way to the next evil scheme. I do believe you've spoke to him more recently though."

>Actions?
>>
>>24395946

We still need Zouken to answer a few questions.

>>

This, then head back to where the girls are.

If Rin and Sakura are still changing, we can bounce the "Rider suggests sharing" idea off of Rider, since our bringing it up is likely to be received poorly.

... Although, on reflection, we probably don't need to do that. At this point, Rider seems quite likely to take action of her own accord.
>>

>"That's also why I chose a mall: Nice and public while I plot his painful demise." He looks at the bags he exited the store with. "Figured I might as well grab ingredients for that bake-sale I'm supposed to host next week while I'm here."

There's something very funny about how he casually says the words "plot his painful demise" with complete sincerity.

>>24395946

We should ask what Kirei banishing Assassin would do to the Servant's soul.

I mean, would it go to the Grand Grail? Or would it evaporate uselessly?

Actually, as he's the supervisor... do we maybe want to mention that something weird happens when Servants die and pass on, in this Grail War? That Berserker didn't go to the Grail?
>>

Or he'll try to backstab anyway and get SAVESAVESAVE'd for his trouble.
>>
>>24396079
Dude. Bigger problems at hand than worm that walks. Essentially all we know about grailshit is the stuff Ilya picked up which amounts to fuckall compared to what we need. Know what that means?

Chance of figuring out a non-excalibur solution to the grail <5%
Chance of figuring out how to remove Ilya's validity as a lesser grail by jerryrigging what Zouken can figure out with his parasite wizardry <5%
Oh and it accelerates Ilya's transformation into the grail, which mind you she is even less resistant than Iris and once Berserker finally runs out of juice and returns it's very likely that his massive energy may severely degrade her condition if not push her over.

>>
>>24395939

Also I wanted to mention -- what makes actions "under duress" or pressure more "true" than the way a person acts when he ISN'T pressed to the bone?

I mean, let's say that people get piles and piles of shit piled on top of them, until they act horribly.

But let's take those same people, and instead have them be only in advantageous -- or just non-stressful -- situations. Make it easy to be good, or harder or unnecessary to be bad.

They'll probably follow along, won't they?

So if they would be horrible if in horrible circumstances, but might be good in good circumstances... doesn't that sorta imply that human beings adapt to (or snap because of) their situation and stimuli? Like water poured into a bowl, or a glass of water cracked and made to spill all that water?

((Its a bit different from the "bad things change people more" topic, however. I don't deny that tragedy or misfortune can mark people forever... but then it's always been easier to break than to build, hasn't it?))

>>
"Any way I could offer my assistance to make you postpone that kill?"

"I'm going to say no, but I'm curious as to your reasoning."

"There's a lot wrong with the war in terms of what's going on around it and within it. There's at least Nine servants running around, Zouken suggested that the Grail might be turning into something really bad, which all evidence thus far has pointed towards."

"There's also that thing with Ilya if Kiritsugu's wife is anything to go by." He answers, looking at me. "While certain factors are suspicious, Zouken is too large of a wildcard to permit running around. I know where he is, I know he can't leave, and I know I can probably kill him. Especially since I've already disabled his only real back-up plan." He sighs as he stands up. "Your desire to help others is indeed commendable, but in this case misguided. If you found other ways of looking into a verifying the information, then somewhere is clearly the tools to solve whatever problem there may be, if it indeed exists."

"That's your final answer?"

"There's no potential reward that justifies allowing Zouken to do as he pleases, even taking your emotionally skewed viewpoint into consideration." He begins to walk away. "I'll let you know when he's been dealt with. If you haven't heard from me by tonight, assume he got the better of me."

I could probably get one more thing in if I wanted, or I could return to what I was doing with the girls.

I'm actually a better person when shit goes down.
But then again, I don't really give a fuck about myself. I consider the world around me to be interesting and think that most people have more drive in their life than me. So I can't say no when someone needs help, especially when it's really important.
During times where my behaviour is not of importance I tend to procrastinate and disappoint everyone. Personally I hate the artificial way our society is structured - It started in school, when you were praised for even the shittiest work and it hasn't changed yet. Success is entirely unrelated to effort. Except when it's something that no human controls. Then you actually need to utilize your skills.
...I should really find a job where my mentality would motivate me.

Then again, I would probably go insane from torture. But that's kind of the point.

I say we take this opportunity to go and talk with Zouken before Kirei arrives in the afternoon to finish him off.

>>24396170

How's this for a plan?

We let Kirei kill Zouken, but not Assassin. Instead, we make him form a Servant contract with Shirou. Once that's done, we make Assassin spill everything he knows of what Zouken knows about the Grail.

This way, we also don't need to cause whatever Grail vessel unnecessary burden, at least for the moment.

>>
>>24396302

>>
>>24396275
WAIT

THATS ACTUALLY A REALLY GOOD IDEA, AND MIGHT WORK.

After all, Kirei is the overseer of the war. He shouldn't just up and kill a Servant unless in extreme circumstances. Its not ASSASSIN'S fault Zouken forced him to attack Kirei, and we happen to be a Master without a Servant...

If we got him we'd damn near have a Servant monopoly, and nobody gives a single fuck about True Assassin so we'd finally have an expendable minion to throw at people.

Now, Kirei will probably make up some excuse, but his reply might be very telling as to his true motivations.
>>
Going to meet Zouken before Kirei kills him seems like a very good way to either piss Kirei off or get Kirei killed.

I'm against it, personally. We only want to talk to him because of Ilya and Merlin already said he's looking into a way to save her.

In any case, I expect him to die first in the fight and its not like Kirei will spare him after he attacked that priest. We'd also need to be on the spot to be able to try something like that and we already have a previous lunch appointment.

I wander back down the wide Mall corridor and reach the store when the I left the girls, and see them waiting for me with purchases. Rin's bag is rather small, no doubt because of our earlier shopping trip. Sakura's is only slightly larger though, and she seems oddly unwilling to talk about the whats and whys of her clothing purchases.

We exit the mall and return across the bridge, with me ending up holding both bags by the time we reach the market and having informed them of my conversation with Kirei along the way.

"If he says it's under control, I don't see a reason to doubt him." Rin comments. "Whatever else he may be, he's not arrogant."

Sakura looks between us. "But Assassin. A Heroic spirit, and the one best suited for deception and surprise....."

"He knows that. Remember, he's already survived a Grail War. A Grail War filled with people considerably more ruthless and powerful than we are, collectively." Rin adds as we continue along.

"I'm more worried about the knowledge. If he had some idea of how to fix the Grail or whatever, we're losing that as soon as Kirei finishes him." I interject. Sakura looks away, and Rin sighs.

"I guess that's true. It's not like we can poke around his library or something hoping he left notes since Archer burned everything down."

Sakura shakes her head. "I'm not sure he'd tell us. Unless there was some clear and direct way for him to profit off of it, he'd probably send us away or lie."

I note how uncomfortable Sakura is with the topic, and decide to drop it for now. Instead, we get back to investigating the runes.

This is a rare chance where we know exactly where he is and we also know that he cannot regenerate. We could always threaten to kill him if he doesn't talk. Shirou showed himself capable of soloing the two before. If we add rider to the mix, that would be a death sentence.

Zouken isn't giving us shit without us saving him from Kirei, which is not something we want to do in the first place. Besides, I wouldn't trust anything the guy tells us even if we DO save him. He has literally no reason to give in to our threats because he's a dead man anyway (either Kirei kills him or we do). Nothing useful can possibly come out of us going to meet him now.

My main worry is Zouken tricking/overpowering Kirei somehow and taking control of his body.

Kirei killing Assassin should be felt by Ilya. If something weird is happening with killed servants not going to the Grail as they should, this'll give us some nice confirmation of that. If Assassin DOES go through Ilya, it probably means Berserker is still alive somehow.

One thing that works to our favour is that he doesn't know that Kirei is coming in the afternoon so we might be able to wring some info out of him.

If we want to make sure hes safe, we could perhaps get Rider to watch from a distance to make sure.

While I'd easily trust Rider with our life at this point, I don't trust her to just sit there and not do anything while Zouken is right next to her. She'd rush in and try to kill the bastard in painful and exotic ways, which would not be helpful.

Guy who initiated the "Acquire Assassin plan" here. Thought I'd share the reasons why I thought out that plan.

>To figure out if Shirou's inability to form Servant contracts is limited to Saber or applies to all Servants.
>To figure out if Kirei's neutrality in the war is for real and deny him a Servant if said neutrality is merely a farce.
>To find out what Zouken knows about the Grail that may have been relayed to Assassin.
>To find out how much info they got from scouting those runes.
>To unlock those mental blocks caused by the fire on Shirou via shared Master/Servant dreams without needlessly burdening the other Servants.
>To prevent/delay the next Grail vessel from taking the strain of a Heroic Spirit dying.

I'm well aware of the possible consequences this choice will have on the rest of the team and especially Saber.
If this still feels like a retarded plan after reading said reasons, then by all means stuff this into the bin of plans that will never be used and give some alternative solutions.

Apologies to AC-Guy for having to put up with unnecessary planning derails caused by said post.

Someone might want to archive this, BTW.

Arg... Why must Kirei suck so many dicks??? We don't kill him and he may get hassan which will end in much REJOICING!. We kill him and zouken is back in the game to fuck everyone over at the worst time imaginable not to mention we'll probably lose all Sakura points now and forever. We try and fail to kill him/he escapes and it's all kinds of bad juju ending up with all of us dead by the next morning covered in black keys the second anyone slips at any point. From earlier threads we know the previous war was kosher and either way Kirei is still the obs for the war which means he's still packing a variable bag of command spells.Which leaves betting Kirei is maybe on the level after gorging on orphan tears....

It's archiving atm. I think I got it.

And now it's archived by the tag "Fate/Stay Again," (sic!) instead of "Fate/Stay Again". Please pay attention next time.

Or Archer?

Maybe we can get a message to him if we call issei like right now.

He can observe and confirm no shenanigans.

Isn't there a re-archive thing to fix mistags?
At least it still comes up anyway
>>
>>24397349
There isn't, barring suptg admin's intervention. And that's exactly why I ask you to pay attention next time.

>>24397324
Eh, first thread wasn't included under that tag anyway. Grail-kun is the only tag that catches all of them.

no actually, i just played through the fate route last night, they specifically say reinforcing enhances properties. Lamps get brighter is the example they use.

>People have many varied layers, some of which they don't even know about themselves. The more stress, anger, pain, and fear that's applied the more layers get stripped away until they're nothing more than their basic primal instincts.
Got half of our body burned.
"Shit, Saber's gonna be sad or upset!"
We have some weird primal instincts.

Actually, telling Archer about the changed situation is a good idea.

Also, guys, could we stop treating Sakura like a dumb AI? We're all sympathetic 1on1, but if only Rin is nearby we suggest a confrontation with Zouken. Seriously? She'll break down like that and we were supposed to SAVE ALL just like a true Shirou saves. And I hope to save not only her body, but also her mind.

Ya, Red Archer should probably be made aware asap so he doesn't accidentally walk into the middle of a fire fight.

Or doesn't "accidentally" kill the cleric.
