ATTACK! No more holding back, no more bullshit!
>>
>>24307455
No, because I don't want to be constantly checking and fretting over it, thank you very much.
>>
>>24307388
Diplomacy please.

"It seems that I prepared your body for nothing. Treachery, from my own sister!"

"Nathaniel, you have your body now, but I was the one with the wits to make it. I suggest you make a competition of the reward; since Charles and Maud had the cunning to pilfer it. How does that sound?"
>>
>>24307388
Hex 'em till they glow then curse 'em in the dark
>>
>>24307388
As one anon said "Paralyze Charles, commence diplomacy."
>>
If we attack, there's a good chance we'll accidentally kill them.
And considering how stupid this is, either OP's a moron, or there are layers under layers.

I say we try to intimidate them, it shouldn't be hard, considering our track record.
>>
I'm changing tact.

You're going to talk to Maud and Charles, then you can decide what to do.

>Ask Maud or Charles a question
>>
Petrify Charles. Ask Maud to explain herself.

We've almost been killed over this Trident, our family has disowned us, we just got over a damn existential crisis about being evil and now one of the only people who managed to make the whole experience not completely terrible seems to have betrayed us.

This. Is. Not. Cool.
>>

>>24307388

We have very good reasons to believe Maud has our best interests in mind. She's either gone crazy or is violating the 3 moving parts rule like Kira. Zap the pusbag, talk to Maud.
>>
>>24307504
I'd rather just paralyze Charles and talk to Maud.
>>
>>24307529
No, that was my question for Maud. "What the fuck Maud?"
>>
>>24307504
to Charles "Really. Do you REALLY want to cross me right now boy?"

to Maud "How could you do something like this, something so stupidly, pointlessly cruel and vile? Was I really that much of a brat, to make you want to go so far to hurt me?"
>>
>>24307504
>Ask Maud why
We don't really care about Charles, we know why there. Maud's the wild card. She's the one we need to deal with.

>>
>>24307547

"Ok, you found me."

"Now...I don't know what you have planned for me at this juncture, I wager it's probably going to be something equally as unkind as the 1000 things I have going through my mind to do to you Maud. I just have to ask one thing...why?"
>>
>>24307570

No no no. We don't monologue.

"Why Maud?"
>>
>>24307598

Maud sneers and laughs.

“Why?” she parrots, mockingly.

“Because at first it was fun making you think Mum and Dad had forgotten all about you, making sure all their letters went straight into the garbage was highly amusing. The way you cried and begged for me to help you” she laughs “you have no idea how fulfilling that was for me”

You continue to slowly step backward as she approaches.

This isn't a bad strategy. Let's get them angry/flustered, and see what happens.
At the very least, once what she said sinks in we can seriously take a chill pill. We're only in a bind because we think we're being disowned, and Maud just gave us the best ammunition for a comeback we never had.

“So you did this whole thing out of jealousy?!” you shout, hands trembling, the sister you thought had changed to comfort you now a monster in your eyes.

But yet, your parents haven’t abandoned you, it’s been Maud all along, the home you thought you had lost isn’t.

“You don’t think I didn’t notice Dad give you his robe before we left for the train? You don’t think I haven’t noticed the years since you were born of them always caring about you over me. It was enough for me to watch you squirm for once in your closed in little life, to see that the world didn’t revolve around you. But then you let slip in the library that you were up to something, didn’t take me long to figure it out.”

She gestures to Charles who stands several inches behind her, wand raised and face no wear near as cool and reasoned as your sister.

“Charles here has been a huge help, though he is a little afraid of you now after your last little outburst”

That would matter if this story hasn't apparently been guided by chance the whole time.

Like this Maud knows too much to be an impostor.

Or this is stupid.

You know, I have to wonder if that's the point.
I mean, we're obviously unstable.
We're living in a magical world where illusion and fakery is the easiest answer to anything, especially as a third-year. There've been four explanations for these actions that are different from "this is really happening."
And we're obviously dangerous as well. I mean, with the wrong snap we're the next He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
Gotta wonder if this is some evil being's plan to screw over the Fauxly.

how poetic that turned out to be.

don't mind people bitching about how you run the quest. If you answer them as opposed to ignore them they feel they know they can derail the quest whenever they don't get their way by attacking your writing or character. Seriously, don't worry about it and just keep the narrative going. I don't get my way all the time in this quest and im still really enjoying it. and all of us wouldn't keep coming back if we didn't like it. so just keep going man.

First, how could she intercept Mail Owls, when they fly directly towards the recipient, and not a central hub?
Second, our parents still didn't see us when they met with Tooledge or when we were in hospital; more in line with parents that are about to disown us rather than try to repair the emotional rift.
Third, from Robert's letters with his father, the Fauxly's continued to be ostracized for their continued relationship with us, with no sign of them attempting to defend us.

oh quit your bellyaching, this betrayal is so appropriate it's kind of silly. Slytherin wasn't even doing Slytherin things, and now we just got TACTICAL GENIUS'd by our sister (must run in the family) It makes sense. none of us are going to get our way exactly, and props for OP for pulling a quest out of his ass every night for the last week or two for our own personal enjoyment. Let the story grow, and be a part of it. Don't start throwing shit when you don't get your way, we're all in this together.
>>
>>24310478
It makes sense?

No. No it does not make sense.

That's precisely what I'm mad about.

Our sister betraying us isn't the problem, OP was keeping that up in the air for as long as possible.

Her "plan" requires her both to be impossibly smart and unbelievably stupid, as well as involve several factors that can't possibly be within her control.

What's worse is that it seems as if the only reason Maud is Charles's accomplice is because we rolled a 95.

I'm not annoyed that the story didn't go my way, I'm annoyed that this story is a house of cards, and it's only dumb luck it maintained consistency this long.
>>
>>24310554

>this mad

if you're that invested in the story, OP must be doing a pretty good job haha

and comeon, dont you remember in the beginning when maud was our "spiteful rival"? We've been fooled this entire time because we wanted to believe want we wanted and willfully ignored what was right in front of us.

ultimately, we really are just 11 years old.
>>
>>24310635
Yeah we're eleven.
And Maud's 14.

And yet somehow she's been intercepting our mail for months now, with absolutely no one being the wiser. And our parents just happened to never send letters to any teachers or visit the school, unless Maud intercepted them as well.

And so many steps of her plot are unnecessary, like involving Charles at all, or lying about turning her back on our family and living with us.

Not to mention what the fuck her endgame is for this. Like did she plan to kill us or make us kill ourselves before the summer?

There was literally nothing to ignore, aside from Maud being initially described as a 'spiteful rival'.
>>
>>24310763

I feel so robbed that all our character development and story turned out to just be "roll a dice to see which character betrayed you"

Granted I should have seen that when we randomly rolled our house without even being weighted according to our actions.
>>
>>24310763

You've never been really vested in destroying some, have you?

>"mom, send millies mail to me so i can give it to her. she's avoiding me and i like to have a chance to talk to her."

>"no, i don't think you should see her today. She's on this "independant" streak ever since she got here, she doesn't want to be seen with me even, i doubt she'd want to see you. She's doing well though! her marks are good and she's got friends. she threw her doll away though, pretty sad. guess she's just growing up."

>"Charles, comere lad, you want to make some cash before we go into hogsmead? Figured you would, you're an enterprising lad. Here's a couple gallions, take your friends and go rattle millies cage. i want to see how she's taking this whole thing. Don't hurt her, just see if you can get her to make a move. I don't think she will but i can see it, i think she's about to crack"

It's not really that far fetched when you think about it.
>>
>>24310940
We were in the hospital after a professor tried to murder us.

And not long after, we instinctively cast an unforgivable curse.

And unless Avori and the new Headmaster are invested in fucking with our heads, our parents didn't send them any concerned letters or talk to the school board or anything.
>>
>>24310940

No. It was dumb, she had a million better ways of going about hurting us as evidenced by the fact that she wasn't even a traitor until we rolled for it.

Not to mention we had a working crystal ball that told us we would live together. And there is no reason whatsoever a failed divination would produce a totally false vision instead of just haze. Not to mention our roll was a success.
>>
>>24310998

And our parents were in contact with Toolidge to try and pull strings to get us resorted. Maud couldn't have faked that. No way in hell they wouldn't show up during the hospitalization/unforgivable unless the letters were real.
>>
>>24311006
The worst part is that OP has managed to dig himself so deep that he's still fucked if Maud -isn't- the traitor.
>>
>>24310917
>roll a dice to see which character betrayed you
This, basically. I'm fine with being caught by surprise. But the GM was caught by surprise as well by his own plot twist. And it kind of showed. Pretty disappointing. But hopefully the quest can recover.
>>
>>24311067

It would have worked if the traitor was polyjuiced, but OP shot himself in the foot when he retconned the bit about intercepting the letters.
>>
>>24311084
There's no coming back from this.
Millicent's dynamic with her family was literally one of the strongest themes in the quest so far, and now apparently it's all a lie that was able to be perfectly maintained for like six months.
>>
>>24311090
I know.
He had an out.
But he didn't fucking take it, even though Maud's betrayal is borderline impossible, at least in the way it went down.
>>
>>24311178

FauxlyQuest was at its best when it was Millicent Fauxly: The Quest for Daddy's Love and Millicent Fauxly: Witch Detective, The lowest point in the quest was when OP got frustrated with our slower pacing and had Joel DMPC to kickstart "conflict" and "drama". This is connected.
>>
>>24311178
>There's no coming back from this.

The guy running House and Dominion made a rather... strange decision after a few dozen threads.

The players told him they weren't happy with it, gave him a proper explanation why, and he understood their complaints and retconned a few posts.

He never screwed up again, and players never called for a retcon again, even when we screwed shit up.

Owning up to a mistake and fixing it doesn't make a bad DM, and neither does it turn the players into morons who think they can boss the DM whenever they want.

/tg/ can be surprisingly reasonable at times.
>>
>>24310998

maybe they're overseas or busy with work and cannot physically make it.

Maybe the HM is trying to protect us from azkaban by not reporting the curse, it IS "unforgiveable" and all that.

Death and injury come with the territory of wizarding school. They're probably at home chuckling about how they got into the same shit in their day.

>>24311006

the crystal ball, and all divination, is not 100%. Thats cannon.

What better way for a person to get back at someone they've been under the thumb of their whole life than by making them an island and then becoming the only person they can turn to for anything?

>>24311047

toolidge might have been replaced by bergle sooner than we expected. Again, who knows what they do.

>>24311084
it only showed because he posted a ":/" right after. He shouldnt have done that, but if he hadent none of you would be any the wiser.

you guys are confusing "stuff i don't want to happen" with "stuff that can't happen", and everything that's happened sofar can be explained.
>>
>>24311326
I still have no clue how he arrived at the conclusion our missing friend got transformed into a cat, to be honest.
>>
>>24311489
Because the DM told him so.
He admitted he fucked that one up.
>>
>>24311399

The plot twist has more holes in it than a slice of swiss cheese. Canonically inaccurate divination is symbols that don't actually symbolize anything and seeing only clouds in a crystal ball.

There is no canonical precedent for a high-fidelity audiovisual prophecy like the one we had to be not only inaccurate, but totally impossible given the state of events at the time.

Not to mention that we have gotten 3 visions so far out of the ball and the other 2 turned out exactly as predicted.

We succeeded in our divination check when we saw our future with Maud. It would be one thing if events afterwards changed the future, but never having been in the cards in the first place? Bullshit.
>>
>>24311399
...Are you literally retarded?

We already know that Hogwarts didn't exactly cover up our use of the Crucio curse, and really, you think our parents would laugh off a teacher murdering the headmaster, impersonating him for an undetermined amount of time, and then attempting to murder us? Is that how you want to play this game?

Yes, divination isn't 100% canon, but it was never indicated that it can show things that are completely and totally impossible. Like something that would never ever ever happen. Which, if this is the real Maud, is what that future would be, if she never had any intention of helping us.

And what we're bitching about is why help Charles steal the dummy and give it to Nathanial, why not accompany us to Nathanial and then backstab us. Like what, she's going to share the Trident with him?

And yes, yes this is "stuff that can't happen", no there is no reasonable explanation.
>>
Ok, I get what OP's going for here: We were suspicious of Maud for a reason, after all.

I'm not sure how she could logically have pulled it off. I'm not sure why she did this the way she did.

Mostly, however, I just want to know what was up with our crystal ball: We saw Millie and Maud together in the Leaky Cauldron. Even if that's only a possible future, it seems to be a likely one: After all, it accurately predicted the battle in the headmaster's office. It clearly isn't random, so...Why was it wrong this time?

On the other hand, it perfectly explains our parents' behavior: A pureblood letting both their heirs go is just not normal, not to mention Millie's father's affection for her.
>>
>>24311326

oh comeon, we had a rival instead of a million people coming at us going OH HI, YOURE HERE, LETS BE FRIENDS. And he was competant, we had someone to be better than and goals to strive for.
>>
>>24311533
It doesn't explain our parents behavior completely.
Because apparently they did nothing when we almost died and almost got expelled. Unless Maud can intercept the headmaster's mail, which is more bullshit than Joel figuring out that Sam was the cat.
>>
>>24311514
>and the other 2 turned out exactly as predicted.
Actually, the 2nd prediction was that Charles would hand the mannequin over to Nathaniel at the broom shed; he actually handed it over to him in the Forbidden Forest.
>>
>>24311590

The only plausible method of intercepting Hogwarts mail Maud could have is a house elf. But we already know Pester is on our side due to having sent Soup to help us. So there goes that theory.
>>
eh, whatever, im going to bed. I know OP will have this all sorted, up and running soon.

All im saying is that is quest is really fun to play, and i highly doubt any of you could run anything close to as good at this day in and day out with less holes. Give the poor guy a break, he's been doing pretty awesome sofar just free-form writing out a story.
>>
>>24311646
Thanks.
>>
>>24311646

If OP wasn't awesome at running a quest, we wouldn't be emotionally invested in it enough to be upset.
>>
Wait, can we really be sure that Maud's being honest here? There are two possible explanations:

1) She's been screwing with us since the beginning, successfully blocked all communication with our parents, and somehow deceived a crystal ball.

2) She's manipulating Charles to guarantee our victory. Intending to sell the Trident in order to fund our escape from our family, she hatched a plot to gain control of both contestants: Millie and Charles.

She's doing this now because she's not confident we can defeat Charles, and wants to take him down via backstab.

The first seems more obvious, but the second fits the character development we've seen up until now.
>>
>>24311533

we don't know that it's wrong, it hasn't come to pass yet.

maybe our parents die, we lose the house and we're finally brought together for real out of nessecity. Who knows? just because we see the future doesn't mean we KNOW the future

There's a reason your nickname is Mrs. Rowling. I have loved every minute of FauxlyQuest. I know you think that the people upset are trolling you, but we really are worried about the quest. GM's shouldn't be surprised by their own plot twists.
>>
>>24311646
The problem is that he WAS doing really well.

Until now.

It's just that this turn of events made me realize that apparently literally nothing we do matters, the direction of the plot is evidently completely in the hands of the Dice Gods. Like not just the success or failure of our characters actions, but also things that are completely and totally out of our control.

And the worst part is that we wouldn't have even realized it until now, if one of us had rolled better.

...He really should have allowed a fate point.
>>
>>24311669
Goddamn, man, get some sleep.
The complaints will be in the archive in the morning.
>>
>>24311690
I don't know, Charles kind of sucks.

If she is lying now, the only explanation is that she's in deep with the nefarious villains who are behind everything, Professor Trib or maybe Bergle's brother, or Bergle himself.

Like maybe she's doing the old 'try to hurt our feelings enough so that we'll run away and not get into danger' thing?

But that would still require her to be a RIDICULOUSLY talented actress.
>>
>>24311728

>not rolling dice for random outcomes

it's like you've never dm'd a game in your life. his only mistake was letting us know it was a random roll. next time just make the roll yourself OP, and keep it to yourself so metagaming tards can't challenge it.
>>
>>24311703
It will take more than dead parents to do that: Maud probably wouldn't last a weak with berserk Wild Magic Millie: We might not have Dark Magic anymore, but we can still throw fireballs.

There should have been, at least, signs of hostility in the vision.

Still, I suppose that the right conditions might make reconciliation possible.
>>
>>24311646
>All im saying is that is quest is really fun to play, and i highly doubt any of you could run anything close to as good at this day in and day out with less holes. Give the poor guy a break, he's been doing pretty awesome sofar just free-form writing out a story.

It's difficult writing out something coherent on the spot and making sure it all ties up neatly without making a grave error.
>>
>>24311733
You are completely wrong. I wouldn't change the plot at the roll of a dice.
>>
>>24311777

A major character betrayal IS NOT A RANDOM OUTCOME. That shit is planned ahead of time.
>>
>>24311777
Sure some random outcomes are rolled, but not critical plot elements.

Like if we rolled differently, would Bergle not have been the traitor?

Would it have really been Tooledge when we had our climactic showdown?

I don't know anymore, and I don't know if OP does either.
>>
>>24311798
What was the roll for, if it wasn't for who would betray us?
>>
>>24311798

don't give away what you have planned to to explain to spergs whats happening man. just go to bed, we'll work it out later.

>>24311815

>>
>>24311775
>RIDICULOUSLY talented actress.
She is implied to have a very high Charisma score, and we never found out if she's involved in any theater productions.
>>
>>24311830
Yessir, goodnight.
>>
>>24311837

Except that her plan was pants on head retarded. Literally a million better and more effective ways to betray us.
>>
>>24311775
>RIDICULOUSLY talented actress.
There's no way around that, unless we are having another hallucination (test of character by Headmaster?), she's being controlled (imperious), she's doing this for another reason altogether (Prove we won't go Dark Magic on people in order to keep us out of Azkaban?), or that's not her at all (polyjuice).

This Maud seems to know everything the real one does, but a convincing degree of knowledge could be obtained with torture and/or veritaserum.
>>
>>24311798
I should of known better then to trust Maud. How could someone flip their personality when they've been humiliated and emotionally stunted in the past. Maud was being Maud when she realized how vulnerable we were and we bite it hard like a trout tasting chunky peanut butter.

The letters she's given us were fraud. And she could have done the whole letter snatching like she did. That would explain why our parents didn't arrive to see us, since Maud probably took it her responsibility to notify them, not the teachers.

It makes sense.
>>
>>24311798
Well that's reassuring at least.
Though that means that one way or the other, our sister is apparently Deceptica, Queen of Lies, either so talented in the art of falsehood that she can obscure the very future itself with her untruths, or is trying to make us Hulk out and succeeding.
>>
>>24311851

>playing us for a year
>showing up as a midboss to steal all our hard work

what would be a better betrayal than that? that's a perfect betrayal.
>>
>>24311849
Good night! Don't take this to hard and learn from it but don't read far too much of it either.
>>
>>24311877
>with torture and/or veritaserum.
Or legilimency. Don't forget that.
>>
>>24311798

What do you call accidentally casting Crucio and suddenly becoming sadistic and developing a secret well of dark power?
>>
>>24311881
What? No.

No it fucking doesn't.

Letter snatching at Hogwarts should be impossible without government or senior staff level access, and Maud would literally have had to intercept every single letter our parents received if she was to keep our parents in the dark.

There is nothing obnoxious aristocrats like our parents and their social circle love more than a good scandal. Do you really think they wouldn't be bombarded with letters from everyone they know after their daughter cast the cruciatus curse on Charles, whose family is probably rich and influential because Slytherin?
>>
>>24311905

We cast an Unforgivable. The time to strike would have been then.
>>
>>24311905
...Not partnering up with a useless blob like Charles?

Why not cut out the middleman and keep playing the nice sister act.

Help us work on the mannequin, walk with us to the Forbidden Forest, and THEN and only then stab us in the back and crush our soul.

THAT'S how you destroy a person.

Meanwhile it doesn't seem like Maud even expected us to show up.
>>
>>24311960
Foreshadowed? I mean, we already blew up an elf in the heat of the moment. Millie's stats include a bonus for Hexes, which are considered Dark Magic, and Joel's own capabilities served as a way to introduce us to concepts that would later be applied to Millie.

The crucio was random chance, but our talents for dark magic (not to mention the cambodian incident) and wild magic are well established.
>>
>>24311963

>Letter snatching at Hogwarts should be impossible without government or senior staff level access

how do you KNOW that? whether or not that's possible is up to OP, not you.
>>
>>24312027
Because owls fly directly to the great hall when they drop letters.

Do you have any idea the kind of sharpshooting that would be necessary to destroy our letters and replace them with per-prepared forgeries when they were still in the talons of an owl?
>>
>>24311963
You're thinking way too in depth. How many times did we go to the Owlry to receive any letters?

Did we send them any letters after when we were told not to?

Who was telling us what our mother and father were doing?

She didn't had to go to the post office at an ungodly hour just to steal our letters. And if we did receive any letters from our parents, Maud could of told the Owlry keeper/letterman/owl-thing that she'll take it to her sister since they were after all family.

We made it easy for her to trick us since we didn't put any effort in communicating with our parents. She was the only contact between our parents and us.
>>
>>24312076
But we didn't receive our letters in the great hall.
>>
>>24312076

again, thats not how this hogwarts works.

>Making sure no one is about you head to the Great Hall and order a great big English breakfast; mash, beans, gravy, sausages, eggs, bacon – the lot. You help yourself and tuck in as you mull over the night ahead.

>Across the Great Hall you can see Olivia sitting with the others who solemnly eat without talking; they give occasional glances towards you but nothing more than that.

>The owls arrive, dropping packages and letters to everyone…even you this time; a letter and copy of the daily prophet.

>Great Hall

>Owls

>Dropping
>>
>>24312076

like i said before, what if maud just asked mom and dad to mail our letters with her owl so she could have an excuse to talk to us, then just ripped them up?

You guys have an extremely narrow interpretation of how things are allowed to work, and i don't that's very compatible with the format we're playing in.
>>
>>24312104
Read the fucking thread. >>24312149
>>
>>24312150
Then our parents still never sent letters to anyone but us or Maud, and our teachers never wrote any letters to them.
>>
The one thing that gets me was the whole discussion that Maud was a contestant and the late appearance of the actual contestant, Charles.

I am having a hard time following between the partnering of these two, which I am presuming that it could be a opportunistic coincidence--I'm not sure. More importantly, if she was doing this from the very beginning, what was she planning before we spilled the beans about the contest?

And that's what scares me stiff. You know, I'm pretty sure that she's still pretty pissed off after we seen her make-out with her hufflepuff boyfriend. So I'm imagining this as an additional motive on getting us even besides us being hailed as the Fauxly favorite.
>>
>>24312149
That was one letter, fucking today, we never received a letter in the great hall before that.
>>
>>24312230
Look, if it really is Maud telling the truth, then she is completely, hopelessly, criminally, insane and there's not much point in figuring out why she's done anything.
>>
>>24312184
I don't think she had to do anything else. During break she told our parents about the bullshit we're doing and the deep shit we're in. The unforgivable curse was merely the last straw that broke the camel's back.

They actually sent that letter and it was not a forgery from Maud.
>>
>>24312184

stop taking everything so fucking literally and allow the OP some wiggle room to make things fun.

Noone can write a completely bombproof story pulling it out of their ass with 20 faceless people shouting at them to do this that and the other thing, and if you're going to make that fucking big a deal out of it you're a cunt.

what the fuck is your problem? why can't you accept that "it's magic, and OP doesn't owe you an explaination.".

A letter saying that our parents were effectively disowning us, AND disowning our sister.

WHAT THE HELL IS SHE THINKING?!

I'm really starting to think this is a conspiracy/triple-agent/split personality/hallucination/etc. situation. It's the only thing that makes clear sense, unless Maud is a superhuman actress/manipulator with the ability to control the flow of information between Millie, her parents, both headmasters, the staff, and the various gossiping Slytherin families.

OP has thoroughly obfuscated the true nature of this situation, and I'm eager to find out what it is.

...wait. OP forced us to talk to Maud and/or Charles. He didn't want us to attack her immediately, almost as if suggesting that she shouldn't be attacked. Is he hinting at something, or am I just paranoid?

If she is lying, then we're all fucked. Because the only reason I can see for her to go through such lengths would be is if the mastermind is in earshot.

Exposing the holes in Maud's story would only jeopardize her and us if that was the case.
>>
>>24312406

Split personality or it all being just a dream are the only outs left that would plug all these holes.

>>24312387

>>
>>24312406
I have this tiny bit of hope that this is just a ruse to get to the trident for us since she knows we were in solitary confinement. She wasn't expecting us to be released from our detention, so she rushed the process up a bit. And now this blew up in front of her face.

What gets me is how any could enter our version of the Room of Requirement and stole our shit and mannequin. And where the hell is Tara?

It's just that if it's an impostor, she knows way WAY too much to the point where Maud seems likely to be as dead as Bergle.

>>
>>24312527

>When someone has their suspension of disbelief broken by a poorly handled plot twist it's an elaborate conspiracy to destroy the quest, but you will jump through hoops for the slimmest justifications for Maud's "plan"

yes, yes i will. because i realize OP is not infalliable, is not a published writer, and is just doing this for his and our amusement, and i am very happy to play along in his charade.

>>
>>24312490
In the books, the "room to hide something in" is consistent for both Draco and Harry. Furthermore, all members of the DA could access the training room easily enough.

The key seems to be to know what the room is, not just looking for "the room Millie is in."

Maud, being Millie's sister, would know exactly what Millie's bedroom looked like: Guessing it might not be terribly difficult for her. After all, she can probably guess where Millie would go if she was scared and lonely.

I guess we'll see.

Guys, if OP has been planning this (as he has said he has), then this isn't a guaranteed Bad End. Things might not go well here, but it's not like this is going to wreck the plot or anything: We're just panicking over something he sprang on us because we didn't see it coming: All will be revealed in the end.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that the "who's the traitor" roll was actually a perception check? As in, "realize that's not actually Maud" or "notice that Maud's eyes are oddly glazed over"?

>Read the thread
>All of my what

I fucking KNEW she was playing us, I fucking TOLD YOU she wasn't trusthworthy. I TOOOOLD YOOUUUUUU

ok, what's happening here might be this:

1) We want to believe Maud is good after all, what with our vision and everything;

In this scenario, Maud was a contestant in the previous contests. Those contests are held by nathaniel and trib. Being smart, she got near the solution but not near enough, so she kept trying in her second and third year. Trib, this year, tasked her to help the current contestant, charles, to overcome the other (namely: us). In this scenario, she still cares for us, but right now she's acting like a bitch because she's being watched remotely by trib via MAGIIC, so she doesn't want to show her cards to her. She's trying to hurt us to have us run away, to get the trident and to ultimately secure our future.

elements of support of this thesis: it's hard for a kid tointercept howls, it's double hard if the headmaster sends them writing "yo kid got all unforgivableup in this shit, yo"

2) We want to believe Maud is a truly tactical genious and a A-Tier Bitch;

In this happy scenario, Maud played us and orchestrated a great deal of what happened to us during the year. First, she keptour contact with family to a zero. Probably ma and pawere actually angry with us at the beginning, at so it was easy for her to intervene and tell "well if you don't want to write to her to avoid embarassing the family further... you can wrtie to me. She doesn't want to speak with you, I've asked her". She planted one of her cronies, Robert, early on; She had him feign simpathy after a first brush, she had him be an helpful element with his "knowledge of artifact" (STRANGELY he seemed to forget the trident? come on, rowb!), she had him cement our artificial friendship with his late-night excursion to RoR with olivia (which may have been manipulated)
>>
>>24313450

> following on 2

Her motives in this scenario have been discussed; she simply hates us and did this to fuck us over.

Elements to support this thesis: she could have our house elf AT HOME intercept our parents letter (which would explain why soup is helping us; Pester asked him because he knew shit was going on), I dunno I just awoke and this is a bit overwhelming.

>Also, am I the only one who thinks that the "who's the traitor" roll was actually a perception check? As in, "realize that's not actually Maud" or "notice that Maud's eyes are oddly glazed over"?

She said stuff that only the real maud might know (about the robe, about our home life), so she probably IS the real maud; It remains to be determined if she's a bitch or if she's trying to save us.

I, for one, Ihave faith in our narrator overlord.

It is possible that consequent nights of questing have lead to a blunder. I say we wait and see where this is going and if we're not satisfied we either shut the fuck up and man up or we discuss this like civilized Adventure Lawyers.

mmh. About the contest. What does bergle have to do with this?

Is it maybe possible that in their youth years bergle, trib, nathaniel and berglebrpothers were a tight group of students. It is also possible that Trib became ugly after nathaniel's death, which was caused by the berglebrothers. one brother movedon, but the other (prof. bergle) felt guilty (perhaps with reason) and took upon himself to have the truth not come out; he probably killed nathaniel for his own reason, and that is why he's buried in the forest and not in a graveyard.

How did Nathaniel get the trident? does such an object actually exists? or is this just a ruse to have him resurrect and exact vengeance on the bergles?
>>
Fuck, one night of sleep and I return to this shitshow. Maud and Millicent's relationship was like half the reason I read this, I guess I'll see where it goes next thread before I decide to drop this.

Also independent of my dislike for this twist and the numerous issues I have with it (how would she keep our parents from visiting us when we were hurt/post-cruciato, the divination, etc), am I the only one getting the feeling that properly defining Millicent as a character is becoming impossible? Between the numerous psyche-scarring events (the whole headmaster trip, cruciato, Maud's betrayal, not even counting our backstory) and the fact that the plot so far has caused our relationship with literally EVERY CHARACTER EXCEPT OLIVIA (and some professors) to change significantly over the course of this quest - parents, Maud, all our other friends - and I just no longer feel like I have any grasp on how we should play her at all. Like, this is so far outside anything I've ever experienced that even if I want to continue reading I'd be unable to determine what would be the natural or consistent reaction to anything. Also, between this, the paranoia from double-headmaster time and our lack of social interaction when we were younger, I don't really see how you could play Millicent as trusting anyone again for ages.

As of now, we have built a mannequin and it is stolen from us.
We know the thieves; Maud and Charles
We have witnesses, like 4 people that knows, moreover can recognize the mannequin and say that is Millie's.

Finally, we are sure.
We finally know the real Maud.

>However, at this very moment
We don't care, we don't think
We either cry and lose strength to stand straight
Or we exterminatus.
Now why exterminatus?Because we cannot hold back because hurr DARKNESS, even if we cast expelliarmus, it will turn into an inferno that eradicates all that stands before us.
That is what I believe.

Now OOC, what the fuck is Maud gonna do?
Seriously?
I can't think of anything but memory wipe.
That means we must strike, but we won't elude expulsion with a 2 bodies on our backyard.
>>
>>24314941
A fine deduction
I say there is only one reason; Not fleshed out enough.
Emotional rollercoster and high-dose of adreline, action if you say ,is how the quest is going.

Everytime we relax a bit, something else comes up, maybe that is why it is interesting. We have yet to live a single day which is normal.
>>
>>24314948
Why would she even involve Charles anyway? He has played zero role in this quest besides the cruciato incident which was unrelated, even if she used him as a minion to do all the work on the mannequin, she wouldn't need him to get ours (she's the one who knows we're making it and where we'd keep it) and there's no reason for her not to betray him and get the reward for herself. It doesn't even work if she's double-agenting this and really on our side since he's not the real bad guy behind everything, just a greedy asshole.
>>
>>24314948
As you say, there are two reactions possible to our stuation.

one: we break down ad cry. We have been continually betrayed, and not once for something we said/did. Everytime we trust a little, we get burnt. This is too much. I'm an eleven year old girl with one friend, one doll and a cat. I can't cope.

two: what the fuck did you say, you little shit? I'll have you know I was dead once, and now hell is riding with me. WITHIN me. I'm gonna hurt you so much you don't know. But not physical pain, that's too fuckin easy. I'm going to restrain you, I'm going to drag your sorry ass in the great hall, I'm going to have you proped by aurors, I'm going to have you confess your fucking plan to the whole school, possibly the whole world, certainly mom and dad. I am going to destroy your name, your face, your value as a persone. Then, I will be reborn, like a phoenix from the ashes of your persona. I will burn you down. And I won't trust anyone. Nevermore
(also known as BBEG route)

As an immediate reaction, I propose retaliation, phaser set to stun. Personally I don't buy in my own theories of plot plotting plots; Or I might say, I hope Maud is facking it for some reason unknown.

In our vision, she was sorry for having been forgetful. Here's hoping she forgot to tell us her plan.

>>24314948

This is another reason why I hate this twist. Now every reaction is either 'give up, cry, social isolation' which is the reasonable reaction but also boring and stupid as shit to play as in a quest, or edgy shit like this which is both unrealistic and totally different from how I at least wanted to play Millicent.

The answer is we don't know.
Does not matter at the slightest though. He is a thief and a target for our righteous fury.

Yes that is exactly what I want.
But I don't think so Jim, it's gone to hell already.
>Roll low
>Silent Cruciatus

If this is not a fluke, we are a volatile, adorable ball of murder and DARKNESS
That is why regardless what we think, our wand will throw curses and spread death.

WHICH one?
Seriously, which one?
Actually, it is amazing that we are really a special snowflake, but not Mary Sue.

The Maud betraying us one, of course. If it was anyone but Maud or Olivia, Millicent wouldn't be affected enough to cause that strong a reaction anyway.

Really, my issue with the twist is less the concept of Maud playing us as such (I wouldn't have been surprised at all if you told me in thread 15), but the fact that since then she became my favorite character in the quest, all the contradictions and seemingly stupid things about her plan, and just too much shit happening one after another, completely preventing me from feeling like I have a handle on Millicent's character and, more importantly, everyone else in the quest, makes me dislike it a lot. A bit of a straw that broke the camel's back for that last point.
