Holy gosh! Is this what it looks like?! It totally is. After my 2 month hospital stay, I'm back. After a break like that, maybe it's time for a little catch up, huh?

Q: What is Entwined Quest?
A: Entwined Quest is the brain child of some anon that, thankfully, granted it to me. It's sort of a Harry Potter/Puella Magi lovechild with a dash of 50 other things.

Q: Who are you?
A: I'm Lillian, and I'll be your not-at-all-railroady-"DM" of sorts for this adventure. If you want to message me, have question, or just want to chat you can poke me on skype. Name's: Lillyfowers.

Your name is James Thompson, and you were born Marked. Destined to be one of the Entwined, you are a Channel. Channels are powerful mages, and the counterpart to Knights, who are masters of martial combat. Alone, both Channels and Knights could best any mortal. Together, they become something far more. Entwined, Knights and Channels are granted the power to fight Shadows, and protect the people.

On your seventeenth birthday, you prepared to leave home. Bidding your parents a tearful goodbye, you set out, but not before your father gifted you Weiss. Weiss is an animate tome; a product of your father's artificery. A bit snobby for a talking book, Weiss is nonetheless filled to the brim with knowledge.
On the ride to the Academy, you met some of your fellow students. You've become good friends with a young knight named Stahl, a fellow channel named Marisa and two other knights; Anna and Marina.
Although you managed to embarrass yourself at the opening lunch, you made up for it by pulling out all the charm during first year orientation. You got situated in your dorm, (you're bunking with Stahl) and now you've got some free time!

It's still your first day at the Academy, but you've got a few hours before your first and only class of the day. Most of the students seem to be gathered on the main lawn and grounds, and the castle is relatively quiet.

>what do?~

>Most of the students seem to be gathered on the main lawn and grounds

Lets go there too. See what's up, mingle with people, etc

And I'd totally want to get Etwindled with Stahl just to go against waifu bullshit

Sure thing!

You consider staying upstairs and reading for a bit, but the kids outside seem like they're having wayyyy too much fun. Jumping up, you tie your shoes and slip on your coat. You run down the stairs, taking three or four at a time. Streaking out the door, you step out onto the lawn. The sky is a brilliant, azure blue, the grass is verdant and you can smell the sea in the distance. All around you are your fellow students, eating, drinking and chatting. In the distance, you can see Marina and Marisa chatting under a tree, and Stahl across from them, laughing it up with a few other guys.

You stroll over to Marina and Marisa at a brisk pace, and wave at the two, smiling. Marina is asleep as usual, and is resting her head on Marisa's shoulder, who's blonde curls drape over her face. Marisa beckons you to sit, and you do. She smiles prettily at you and pulls a small leather volume out of her handbag. She begins reading, and you lean back against the tree aside Marina. Unfortunately, the sleeping girl shifts, and slides towards you, coming to rest on your arm. Marisa notices this, and smirks at you. "You're in a bit of a pickle, aren't you?"
>wake her up?

Leave her alone, no point in waking somebody up for a silly reason.

>>
>>24303733

Let the girl sleep on us, she's comfy. If we have lunch in our bag pull it out and start munching away.

In a dry monotone "Oh no, a pretty girl is napping on me, what ever shall I do in this horrific predicament? Maybe I'll have to chew my arm off to escape."

>>

Just reference. No smoking!

You laugh quietly, and reach into your bag where you stashed a bit of a sandwich from before. Pulling it out, you respond. "Oh no, a pretty girl is napping on me, what ever shall I do in this horrific predicament? Maybe I'll have to chew my arm off to escape." To your suprise, Marisa laughs prettily. At the sound of her voice, Marina stirs, and stretches. Then, after a moment of poking at your leg, she realizes where she is. With a jolt, she sits up. Blushing, she scoots a bit away from you. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to--er, you know." You wave dismissively at the poor, scarlet girl. "It's no worry, not your fault." You munch your silence, but the air is filled with a bit of awkward tension. Luckily, Stahl comes to the rescue!

Walking over with a group of his friends, he calls out. "Hey James, ladies. We're heading out back to check out the training facilities and armory. Want to come along?"
>wat do

>>
>>24304098
And I wanted to enjoy my sandwich...*toss sandwich* meh lets go!
>>
>>24304098

Fuck yeah, Entwined Quest.

Time for lunchtrays and autism.

Sounds great, training should be fun.
>>
>>24304098
"Uhhh, heck yes!" You leap to your feet, and the girls seem to be eager to come along as well. Marisa brushes the grass off her grass, and Marina rubs her eyes, and smiles eagerly. Stahl leads the group, pointing at various buildings along the way, and asking countless questions of the older students.

You listen in, figuring it's best to learn everything you can. Your concentration is broken, however, when Stahl taps you on the shoulder. "What kind of gear do you think they'll have?", he asks you. You scratch your head, wondering. "I'm not too sure, to be honest. I wish I did, but I'm not a Knight myself." Stahl chuckles, "Oh, that's right. I'd forgotten. That does lead to a question, though! How are Channels supposed to train without blowing this whole place up?"

Your breath catches; here it is, your "big" secret. No way to deny it now. Drawing in a breath, prepare to answer him. "To be honest Stahl, I've never cast a single spell in my life. I have no idea what my focus is. I'm a little worried the Sign was just a mistake." From behind you, you hear a giggle. You whirl around, angry, and see Marisa laughing. "James, for someone so charming you're remarkably thick headed! None of us have! You can't cast until you've been awakened. They do that here, at the Academy."

Hearing that, you can't help but blush. How had you not read about this?! Ughh, well, better a fool than a weakling. You don't mope for too long, though, as your attention is grabbed by Marina. She's running at full tilt towards the armory, which is just a few hundred feet ahead. "Swwwoooorrrrddssssssss!", you can hear her shout as she flies off. The rest of the group looks bemused. A few follow, and others split off to the combat yard.
>you?
>>
>>24304782
Silently vow to marry that woman.

Head to the training yard. We might be able to see some magic.
>>
>>24304782

>>
>>24304782
Might as well go look in the armory too. Maybe there is gear for us Channels in there we can scope out.
>>
>>24304782

>>
Laughing at the girl's antics, you decide to follow her. Quickly, you jog after Marina, and push open the heavy wooden door to the armory. The room inside is dark, and smells strongly of oil, metal and must. Several oil lamps light up the space, and on every single visible surface lies a weapon of some sorts. From a mouldering pile of rusty daggers in the corner to the massive, gleaming greatsword that dominates the wall on your left, there's not an inch that's not covered in steel.

In the middle of the room you can see Marina, staring up at the wall, her eyes starry. "So...many...swords!", she says, ecstatically. You could swear she's almost drooling, and you can't help but laugh. Marina doesn't seem to care, and is bouncing on the balls of her feet, perusing the dueling weapons section. "Saber, foil, eppé, falchion...", she trails off. "This is brilliant!" Turning to you, she smiles. "See anything you fancy, James?"

>what to do?
>also, still hunting for concept art for Marina
>>
>>24306262

" I was always more into books than swords. What are the Channels supposed to use?"
>>
>>24306262
"Not on the racks, no."
>>
>>24306262
"I have to admit, I'm not as much of a sword person as you are, thankfully I'm a Channel so I ought to be okay. I'll probably go with something boring and practical."

Look for a nice, sharp, sturdy arming sword.
>>
"I'm not really swordsman, myself," you explain. "I'm not entirely sure how our magic works, but from what I've read, the spells we cast are based around our focus, which we lend to you, the Knights. Still...they are pretty cool. I wouldn't mind lessons sometime, maybe."

Marina smiles and claps her hands, excited by the prospect."What do you think your focus will be, James? Do you get to pick it?" Sighing, you're forced to admit that you honestly don't know. "I TRIED to read more, but everything I could find was fairy tales. Maybe Weiss would know."

Marina looks quizzically at you, cocking an eyebrow. "Weiss?" "He's my book. He talks and tells me things, and knows all sorts of stuff", you say, before realizing how crazy this sounds. The dark haired girl purses her lips, places her hands on her hips and frowns at you. "Are you have fun with me, James? That's absurd!" You splutter, and wave your hands at her, explaining. "No, really! I'll show you him! My dad made it, he's an artificer." Turning her rather attractive back to you, Marina begins to peruse the wall. "Now that, that's something I'd like to see."

Standing on her tiptoes, she reaches up to the racks and pulls down a blade: thin, long and sharp, it seems like a textbook saber. Then, to your surprise, Marina grabs another. She swishes the twin blades through the air, and grins. "Want to see what I can do with these?"
>>
"What are some of the lighter ones you'd recommend?? A pair of daggers or something?"

Wish I knew more about weapons than what RPG vidya taught me that isn't 'Daggers are for rogues and swords are for warriors'
Still hoping for stealthy battlemage with magically boosted MARTIAL ARTS.

"Yeah sure, why not? But if that sword comes close to my sword, I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore."
>>
>>24306618
"I'd love to see it."

>>
>>24306618

>>
(Sorry for responding and typing so slowly; it's been 2 months since I've used a keyboard at all and I'm all stiff from casts.)

"Mind grabbing a training dummy? I'd rather not use these on you, but it's really your decision!" Marina exclaims, jokingly. Even though she winks, you can still feel your heart jump. This girl is Scary with a capital S! Marina pushes open the door, and calls out over her shoulder. "I'll be right in the yard, grab one from the back."

"Sure thing!", you afirm, and push your way past leathers, oils and whetstones to the pile of training dummies in the back. Grabbing one of the larger ones, you wrestle it under your arm and drag it backwards towards the door. Pushing it open with your back, you lug the thing into the sunlight, and squint at the sudden brightness. Marina is already waiting for you, and it seems like a small crowd has gathered around. Rolling the stuffed man on his side, you push it into the center of one of the training areas. You right the stuffed man, and stand back, joining the crowds.

Everyone is huddled excitedly, and you can hear the whispers and exclamations of your fellow classmates. Surprisingly, Marina doesn't seem to care at all; if anything, it's getting her excited. This is a totally different girl than the one that fell asleep on your lap, it seems. Standing tall, the dark haired girl gives a few experimental swings with the sabers, and then, without warning dashes forewords. It's all you can do to keep your eye on her, as her petite frame angles forewords, a blade in each hand. Then, suddenly, she's upon the dummy and everywhere at once. The first strike is low; at the "legs" of the mannequin, and then comes the second, totally unpredictable. One second Marina is following through on the low blow, and the next you see her leap, flinging herself backwards and over the dummy. Both blades come down on either side, and stuffing and feathers fill the air.

"Wow. Just wow," is all you can muster (cont)
>>
>>24307621
and Stahl calls out, "Show off a little, why don't ya?" His tone is joking, though, and as Marina walks back the two high five. In seconds, everyone is running for the armory, eager to show off their skills. Tens more dummies are rolled out, and you and Marina sit on the grass to watch the others take their turns. Stahl seems absolutely peerless, and swings a greatsword like it's a child's toy. The others use all sorts of weapons, from mace to bow. The other Channels stand by the side, and fling insults at the "meatheads" but it seems to be all in good sport, and almost a tradition of sorts.

After a little while, the others wind down, and begin to return their gear, panting and sweating. You look up at the sun, and realize it's getting pretty late. Consulting Stahl, you realize it's only a few minutes until the Channels have their first lesson. You hesitate for a second, and speak. "Hey Stahl! Marina! Marisa and I have got our first class now, want to tag along?" Normally you wouldn't've said something like that, but you feel like you've got to do something (anything!) cool to show up Marina.

The pair of Knights eagerly nod, and trail behind you as you head back to the Academy.

Item summoning, ala Infinite Blade Works, but not just swords.

Alternatively, punamancy. Cringingly bad puns that cause debilitating effects to our enemies, and hilarious jokes that buff our allies.

>Item summoning, ala Infinite Blade Works, but not just swords.

This, but make them look like spiritual like to appear more magical
>>
>>24307795

Spiritmancy. Animate armor, summon spirits, limited necromancy, stuff like that.
>>
>>24307795
Spirit, manipulation, summoning, and control of them, going very Shinto and manipulating the spirits of our environment and mundane/magical items. Things like making a castle attack, summoning spiritual items, putting spirits of different domains under our control, animating objects.
>>
>>24308178
But would be funny
>>
>>24308229
We could cover that sort of thing with >>24308081
if you really wanted something like it.

This isn't a vote by the way.
>>
we could be boring and go with water or somethin'.
>>
>>24308211
>>24308182
We could combine this with item summoning, and make it sorta pokemon. Tame the spirit of an item, and we can summon the item.
>>
>>24308284
Could work, though for most things I think it should be less of a specific item that we control and more of a conceptual thing linked to an item. Unless it's an old sword full of magic we wouldn't be controlling the spirit of this random ass longsword, but something to do with the concept of Sword.

And for a lot of things we can just control it, we'd only have to tame/negotiate/magically subdue things if they're out of our weight class by a good margin.
>>
>>24308284

Eh, fuck it, why not. But I want a small army of possessed armor suits by the end.
>>
>>24308422
I like it. Sounds good to me.+1 vote.

>>24308425
We're going to replace our knight with a machine?
>>
I like this spectral creation thing. What do ya'll think?
>>
>>24308284
>>24308422
Not a vote, but if we do do something like this we should be able to inspire/enhance the spirits of items to let them do an awful lot more. We could make our Knight's swords the equivalent of Excalibur and their Armor capable of repelling any blow.
>>
>>24308452

We are going to supplement our Knight with an army.
>>
>>24308469
I think that's what most of these are going for in one way or another
>>
>>24308484
I like this idea lets use it!
>>
>>24308469
I've already voted for something along those lines.

It sounds good, spectral creation, manipulation, summoning, alteration, you know, verbing.

Alright then, here we go!
Walking at a brisk pace aside the others, you can't help but feel your heart pound. Preform infront of others? Ughh! Well, this isn't really a preformance...wait! No! This is worse. Far worse! What if you screw up? What if Marisa was wrong, and you've got nothing? One thousand and one thoughts race through your head, and you can feel a bead of sweat run down your brow. It's too late for second thoughts, though, as you're already at the main gates. Pushing them open, you hurry into the main hall.

The room is as opulent as ever, but the tables are long gone. in their place, massive gems stand, their surfaces covered with unintelligable runes. You oogle them for a brief moment before a voice breaks your concentration. "Ahh, it seems you've decided to join us, Mr. Thompson! Welcome. Please join the line." You jump upon hearing your name, and whirl about. Then, you realize who spoke: The Headmaster. In a split second, you turn scarlett and jump into line behind your friends.

This line...if it went any slower it'd be in reverse. It's been two hours since you got in it, and both Stahl and Marina seem to regret having accepted your invitation, and are slumped against the wall with their heads in their.hands. Marisa is gone, having been called just before. As if on queue, as you're about to give up, you hear your name called. "James. James Thompson!" Imidiately your heart starts pounding again, and you nervously step into the center of the room. Looking over your shoulder you see Marina and Stahl giving you reassuring smiles and....is that? It is! Anna, a bit behind the two, staring straight at you. Taking a breath, you step into the circle with the headmaster.

The elderly man looks at you kindly, and smiles. (cont)
>>
"I expect great things from you, James. But I will not lie; this will hurt quite a bit. Are you ready?" You gulp, but nod. The Headmaster places his hand on your forehead and suddenly your world is pain. Every single nerve, vein, muscle and bone in your body is on fire; the pain is so intense you cannot even open your mouth to scream. Silent tears run down your eyes and as quickly as it has begun, it's over. Then, the world changes again. Images flash by your eyes, first of animals, people and then far more fantastical creatures. A city made of glass, impossible geometry, dragons, and more. Finally, nothing but pure white. After what seems like an hour, you see a figure against the vanilla canvas. A woman. She walks twoards you and you cannot help but be struck by her unearthly beauty. There is no need to describe her; simply imagine the most beautiful woman in existance. Then, suddenly her serene features distorted. Her smile a snarl, her eyes pits and... and you woke up. On the floor, on your back. You kick for a moment and lash out, then open your eyes. The very first sight you're greated to is truly something. Floating in midair above the hall is an enormous, transluscent blue blade. In front of you is the most furious Headmaster you have ever seen.

When can we expect you next time? I look forward to further shenanigans.
>>
>>24309549
Ah shit, I think we just broke conceptual boundaries and saw somewhere that we shouldn't look and then summoned a sword that we weren't supposed to.

When is the next session?

How broad a thing is our Spirit Magic? Can we 'convince' a sword that it's totally Excalibur? Can we animate objects like armor, castles, mountains? Can we manipulate the Spirits of things that aren't item based?

Why does no one want to have timey wimey wibbly wobbly Homura powers?

Who is more OP, Kiritsugu or Shirou? Exactly.

Time manipulation would be cool, but we can, hopefully, summon lots of stuff and mess with the Spirits of all sorts of stuff. We got a cool oddball versatile power with lots of creative uses.

Because battlefield. Battle occurring. Then suddonly, rain of a million swords. Then all of said swords shatter into legions of armor revenants. Need I say moar?

Although, aging things to dust or timewarping terrain away may have been interesting.

That's what Marina is for, we give her a never ending flood of Legendary Swords and stand back to watch the blender go to work.

Also potentially making the armaments of any opponents into wimps, summoning hordes of ghosts and spectral warriors, animating suits of armor, all that jazz.
