>Einstein was off helping Damien, but your omnitool was in radio contact with him. You knew you could check his data at any time: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

Your name is Heather, and there are two new people on the station. Theta, who is a biokinetic; and Sigma, who has a strange variation of your own technopathy, which she calls Machine Affinity.
You walk out of Anna's room where she slept, and simply walk through the hall. While you did so, Sarvesh and Omnissiah came through, walking and talking.
"Well, the other day," Sarvesh was saying. "This thing started dispersing coffee. I believe heather inadvertently integrated a coffee maker into my arm."
"That seems rather problematic. But it looks functional enough." Omnissiah responded neutrally. He still had a few dings and dents, but you'd patched up all of the bullet holes in his shell.
"Actually, it's helped. I find I enjoy coffee." Sarvesh said- and then he noticed you and stopped in the hall. "Hello, Heather." He said. "I'm sorry I couldn't help earlier today."

"everything went well in the end"

"So any plans for the day?"
>>

"It's okay, but you missed my project in action!"
>>
>>24241263
I thought I might get another check up from the doctors. See how I'm healing, and if the.. excitement didn't shake anything loose. If there's time, maybe even some Iso Chamber time. What about you guys?
>>
>>24241263

"you would have gotten your hormones messed with, so I'm actually glad for that."

"want me to build a cup holder in to your arm?"

"Omni, one of the new students, Sigma, has an extreme version of my Technopathy, it's best you avoid all physical contact."

"long story short, you may or may not get mind controlled if you do. not her fault though, she can't turn it off."
>>
>>24241263
"Have I missed class for the day or has it been cancelled?"
>>
"Everything went well in the end, though you missed my project in action." You say, and shoot him a smile. "Have I missed class for the day, or has it been cancelled?"
"Both, in a way." Sarvesh said. "All post-lunch classes were cancelled, and you missed all the ones before that."
"So, any plans for the day?"
"Well, I'm... designing something." Sarvesh said.
"Apparently it's quite secret, and he asked me not to try to figure out what it is." Omnissiah said.
"How about you?" Sarvesh added.
"I thought I might get another check up from the doctors. See how I'm healing, and if the... excitement didn't shake anything loose."
"Always a good thing to make sure." Sarvesh said.
"Omni, one of the new students, Sigma, has an extreme version of my technopathy. It's best you avoid all physical contact."
"I see." Omnissiah said. "I'll make sure to do so."

Wave goodbye. Go and find Doctor Manus to ask about a bit of a checkup and a scan to see if we're still at full strength. Such as it is.
>>
>>24241465
Yeah, this sounds good.
>>
You wave goodbye to the two, and make your way to the technopathy room, where Sigma and Keen were. Keen flipped a switch as you came in.
"Where's Dr. Manus?" You ask.
"He's uh, down in medbay." Keen said, pointing. You nodded, and left again, as Keen flipped the switch again. "Alright, you're touching it, correct? Now we just need you..."

You find Dr. Manus in medbay, looking at several bits of paper and his personacom.
"Doctor?" You ask.
"Yes, what do you need?" He asked, setting the paper aside.
>>

>>

>>24241437
>Yes, these are me.

"Just a check up, to see if anything was knocked loose and might dribble out from all the action."
"Oh, fair enough." He said, getting to his feet. "This way. We have a few computers and sensors."
First, he plugged in your wrist sensor to the computer, and then slipped on a headset on your brow.
"Well, first things first, it looks like there's been a big of hormone irregularity, but Theta already warned us and said that that should settle down." He said. "I'm not sure about your brain, I'll have to talk with Kai about that, but there's no obvious damage." He said. "You're eating fine, and you look fit enough..."

He typed a few words into his personacom, sending your data to the nurse, and soon enough she responded. "And... apparently, you don't need to take any of the pills anymore. Your brain looks fine, and there's been no abnormal stress."
"What's your PhD in, by the way, doc?"
"Theoretical physics. Specifically, my thesis was on the effect of dark particles and bubble drives on the long-term fabric of space." He said. "But the UPA only really hired polymaths for this job, since they didn't know what would be required. So we all have our own broad skillsets."
>>
>>24241718
"Cool, thanks Doctor. I'm probably going to go train now, take care!"
>>
>>24241718

>>

>>
>>24241718
Say thanks for working to the brainscannerthingy
>>
"Cool." You say. "Any thoughts about dark particles having an effect on psionics?"
"There's nothing dark particles should be able to do with psionics." He said. "The stuff is almost elegant in its simplicity. Compresses and expands space based on negative and positive charge. Psionics is... well, a whole other slew of issues. Wildly diverse effects, no detectable energy, field, wave between the source and the cause of the event, and only particular people can use it, no matter their current brain chemistry, physiology, or even genetics."
He shrugged. "We don't know enough to tell, really.
"And did you finish analyzing that strange sphere I made?"
"It's incredibly dense." He said. "Entirely inert. I expect high enough heat would melt or destabilize it, but we don't want to do that yet. Eps- Er, Isaac took a look at it and said he has a handful of them floating in space around the station, made from asteroids."
>>
I agree, lets go test how much force we can put in a single spot, as small as we can make it. Hello psionic bullets!
>>
>>24241863
>Isaac took a look at it and said he has a handful of them floating in space around the station, made from asteroids.
then what makes it different fromthe first crystal I made?
>>
>>24241863
"Hmm... I wonder how I can make more of those crystals instead of balls... I wonder if I should try black holing the current tk test machine..."
>>
>>24241863
"Thanks, Doctor!"

Okay, we should get a bunch of them, then get Sarv to teleport pieces of the spheres away to make a shape for the barrel of our gun. We can use extra-high temperatures that way.
>>
>>24241863

maybe we should get a drone to collect some of those, never know what we could use them for.

we can try shooting on with our laser to see how much heat they can handle.
>>
>>24241898
more like flying mono-molecular blades then bullets.
>>
>>24241910
Wasn't that one made out of The Devourer? I think that it's either made of Unobtainium or we used the ability differently.
>>
>>24241979
The sphere we made was when we were thinking black hole. The crystal was when we were thinking void-balls. Let's try void-balls again.
>>
I think it was the concept we were imagining at the time. When We made the crystal we were trying to dematerialize the block. When we made the inert thing we were thinking black hole.
>>
>>24241979
>transmutation spheres instead of black holes
>>
"Then what makes it different from the first crystal I made?"
"Jason says it's related to the high pressures at work. He says the crystal is a previously undiscovered superheavy element, while the spheres are simply near-singularity carbon." Manus said. "The difference could be anything- the temperature of the concrete, the amount, the pressures you exerted... the possibilities are staggering, he said."
"Thanks, Doctor." you say. "I'm probably going to go train now, take care!"
"I may as well come with." He said, slipping his hands into his pockets. "You can't always rely on the technicians, after all."

You and Dr. Manus make your way out of medbay, all the way up to the telekinetic array. Up there, Summer was concentrating, as the individual spheres started slamming back, one by one, as if something powerful was punching at it. She turned back to you. "Hey, Heather." she panted.
>>
>>24241863
"I think I'll go find him. I might try blackholing those for my next test, see if it does anything to them. Do you want to take any readings of them first? And.. uh.. look. I'm sorry we've been running around like crazy lately, going off and nearly getting ourselves killed. I figure you and Max and all the generals or whatever is behind this probably aren't thrilled with that. I understand the work here is important, but sometimes I just have to do things. Plus, hey, extra test subjects!"
>>
Hey Summer, I thought I'd work on TK as well.

"I have a small theory on what might cause the differences, Doctor. Would you mind rolling out the concrete again?"

>>
>>24242060
"Hey, Summer! You're doing much better than before! I'm just hear to try some void-balls, black-holes, whatever you want to call them. I'm not sure yet. Or go to the iso-chamber, I haven't decided yet."

Annihilation sphere practice!
>>
"Hey!" You say. "You're doing good!"
"Thanks!" She said, looking back to the array, focusing again.

"Uh... look." You say, while Summer practiced. "I'm sorry we've been running around like crazy lately, going off and nearly getting ourselves killed. I figure you and Max and all the generals or whatever is behind this probably aren't thrilled with that. I understand the work here is important, but sometimes I just have to do things. Plus, hey, extra test subjects!"
"Well, you guys literally have superhuman abilities." Manus said. "There's no chance we could stop you even if we tried."
Then he shrugged. "Not to mention, me, Max, Kailynn, and Jason all stood up to the director when he tried getting you all locked up. Never thought I'd see him running from an angry wolf."

Soon enough, Summer panted, climbing over to the bed. "You're doing much better than before!" You say.
"I know! I've been practicing." She said. Excited, coming from the technician area of the room. Kailynn came out, and started gushing at Summer.

"Well, I think this is open, now." Dr. Manus said.
"I have a small theory on what might cause the differences, Doctor. Would you mind rolling out the concrete again?" You ask.
"Sure, I'll get everything ready." He said, and made his way over to the technicians.

"How much force can you exert now, Summer?" You ask, and start scratching at her ears.
"Three times as much as I could a few days ago." She said. "They're not very... easily controlled, and I have to do it as a big burst, but I'm stronger."
"You're doing so well, Summer!" Kailynn said, giddy, as Manus's concrete came out.
"We're ready for you, Heather." Manus said. You nod, and step forward.
Alright, you think, focusing.
Destroy, not crush.

You will forward, focusing on voiding it, obliterating it, destroying it...

And a spark leapt from it. And then another. You heard beeping coming from nearby, loud, and the great glass shield came down in front of it. Still, you willed... and the block started heating up from the inside, sparks leaping from the stone to the ground and walls of the station. The beeping turned into full on klaxons, and the concrete block suddenly exploded into light. you winced, covering your eyes, and when you opened them again, there was nothing there but smouldering charred remnants on the ground.

"... That was not... that was not like those spheres from earlier." Manus said.
"... That felt like demanifestation." Summer said. "But... different. How do you feel?"
Surprisingly, you didn't feel very tired. It would've been easier to move it, of course- it feels like you lifted only three or so blocks of that size.

"Uhm. remarkably... okay. Like, not tired. Not much, anyway. Does anyone have any idea what happened? Because let me assure you, I don't."
"Um, give me a few moments, okay?" Manus asked. He slipped on his personacom- an ancient wristwatch- and started talking into it, an earbud in his ear. "There was tons of radiation coming from that thing, and a discharge of electricity and heat. Nobody was shocked or burned, right?"
The technicians all said no, and he sighed.
Kailynn got up, and ran out of the room. She came back with a tray and squeezebottles for everyone. "Everyone, drink all of this." She said. "With that much radiation, it can't be very good for us. This should help significantly."
You take yours, and Summer takes hers in her paws, sipping at it. "Blech. Tastes like chemicals."

The pumps in the back of the room started churning, and Summer started eating her own biscuits.
"Hey, how's my fur?" She asked, rolling onto her side. you look, and you can see; the three long claw marks in her fur had mostly faded, her fur regrowing in place, and you tell her. "Hooray! I'll be back to normal in a few days!" She said, grinning, immensely pleased by the idea.

"We're getting readings that you're doing something. We're not sure what, but... It doesn't look like anything you've done before."

"That's exactly what a hallucination would say, Summer. Anyway, can I get some protein shakes and energy biscuits?"
"Sure." Kailynn said, and reached for the shakes.
"No." Summer said.

She stared into your eyes. "I'm real, heather." She said. "I'm sure of it. But I need to prove to you that *you're* real too. That none of this is a hallucination."

Somewhat meekly, she looked away.
"I just need to figure out how, first." She said, quietly.

Kailynn gave you a biscuit and a shake, and you started to eat them.

"Uhm, if no one minds, I'll be in the isolationg chamber - I sort of want to unwind a bit. Feeling a little overwhelmed. Delayed response, I guess."
"Okay. Just come call me if you intend on trying something new." Manus said. "While I talk with Jason about what happened earlier."
You nod, and climb off of the bed- and summer followed you. She was pouting, she looked, as the two of you left the room.

The two of you make your way down to the isolation chambers.
"Uh, by the way, when I'm done in the isolation chamber. Want to hang out and do something? I don't know what, but... something."

You take a deep breath, swimming in the darkness, no sound, no sight, nothing to touch or feel...

And then you hear the sound of crickets. Massive, enormous trees are high in the sky, and you hear something lumbering by. For a moment, you see something strange. A giant creature, with thin legs, huge arms with which it used to walk, and it was covered in thick black feathers. A Crow, you remember from the briefing of alien creatures. The beak nose looked this way and that, and then it lumbered on... And then it grabbed the stone, took a chisel, and started working. Through its lumberous, dull mind, connections were being made, and it thought... and thought...

And finally, the wheel was done.
It promptly used it to wing the wheel at a second Crow, this one brown, who caught it upside the head and collapsed with a crunch.

Then your vision faded, and you were in the dark again.

And then Something on the ship noticed you. A crystalline creature, with four animate legs, and the mind of a computer, and eight eyes of sapphire. It reached out, and Touched you.

You focus, and vaguely, you can make out the crystalline being, the four small legs of the squat crystalline creature as it walked. Eventually, it reached a large, coloured disk... and you saw small pinpoints of light through it. It was a screen, it looked, and it showed you... the estimated trajectory of the crystalline ship.

With the milky way's speed of rotation, you estimate... that in two to three thousand years, they would enter the milky way proper, and go... straight toward UPA space.

<If I do not manage to contact you again, it has been a pleasure, Serpensal. If I do manage to do it... until that time.>
<Until that time. Love.> It said, and the chamber hissed, light entering your eyes as the isolation chamber opened.

Let's go find Manus again I suppose. Tell him some crystal plants are coming to visit in a couple of millennia.
>>

First things first, type up a quick report to Max.

>Found alien race orbiting the galaxy, coordinates here: <> Eta 2-3000 years. Reccomend that we send scouts/diplomats/first contact crew. Send a bubble drive if they're nice. Ship the size of a small moon, can't miss it. Appear to be plant based life forms, they drink water and sunlight. Their caretaker is a robot thing.

Then find summer.

Get out of the chamber, get dressed, find Max, tell him about it, see if he can use clout to get a scout ship and a large tugboat sent to visit them.

Also throughout this entire experience don't stop bouncing around like a giddy child, we just made first contact and made friends with a star eater encased within a crystalline computer, it's like our Birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and every other holiday mixed into one.
>>
<Woo!> You call, to the station, hopping up and down as you pull on your clothing<First contact!>
About a dozen people respond with a 'what?' of some kind, and you pull on your omnitool. Summer was asleep on the ground just outside the curtain, so you write a short message to Max, and send him rough coordinates for the ship and their speed.

Max padded down to you.
"Well, now we the UPA gets to have a meet about it." He said. "Or something. Now, tell me what happened. What did you see? Er, sense?"
Summer woke up, looking around.
"Hey, heather. You out? Let's go watch movies, like we planned. I made a list of what we can watch!"

"One second Summer, I'm TOO EXCITED!

A ship, about the size of a small moon with grey thin humanoids in stasis within it. It was piloted by my new friend Serpensal, an eater of stars contained within a crystalline computer robot that calmed him and brought him intellect, who piloted the ship to bring it to new stars. They have come so far, travelled for aeons, ages, more time than I can conceive, just for the opportunity to meet another, he wanted to say 'hello'. I MADE FIRST CONTACT! And I said that I'd try to send him a ride to save him a couple thousand years. They are the truest explorers, they did this for no reason other than 'Why Not?'.

It's beautiful."
>>
>>24244719
To Summer: "Summer! I just made first contact with a new intelligent species! I gotta tell people about it first so they can do things to go meet them!"

To Max: "They're just outside the galactic rim traveling near but under C. The skeleton crew consists of something like energy beings that were uplifted and placed into crystalline bodies. Their 'masters' were in suspended animation of some kind, but they're being brought out of it now, and that will take at least a month. They're about as peaceful as we are, and at their present velocity they'll reach UPA space in about two thousand years. I think a good bubble drive ship could get there in about two months though.
The individual I contacted called itself 'Serpensal'. It seems that both they and their technology are all solar powered. They prefer .06 gravity and an atmosphere of similar composition to that of Earth."
>>
>>24244808
I'm pretty sure that Serpensal is the only one there, and he's also the spaceship, that was just his avatar-body running around.
>>
"Summer! I just made first contact with a new intelligent species! I gotta tell people about it first so they can do things to go meet them!

You look to Max, and give his uplift interface a direct mental transcript, quickly summing up everything you sensed.
The wolf blinked, and started listening to it.
"... Technically, that normally wouldn't be intergalactic first contact, since it was some kind of synthetic assistant instead of the race itself." He said, and then his tail started wagging. "... But I'll make sure you get into the history books regardless! And then I'll need to find the interstellar navigational committee to find if they have any probes near it..." Max said. "Thank you, heather. I'll do all the heavy lifting, and I'll tell you if there are any updates, but they look like they're pretty far away, so things will be slow going."
Then he licked your hand, and *ran* the ramp, his tail wagging.
"Hooray!" Summer said.

But you're watching movies with cute girls, you can't be bored. It just doesn't work that way. Unless... Oh! I didn't realize you were into men I'm sorry.
>>
>>24246199
I try ed to make some alive do something once.. just once :(
>>
>>24246199
"It's pretty cool!"
>>
>>24246199
"So when you're bored you play with yourself?"
>>

He can completely change his body at will. He's probably into everything.
>>
>>24246269
Yeah, probably. But saying this might be entertaining, no?

He's Omnisexual
That includes Omnissiah

"But you're watching movies with cute girls." You say. "You can't be bored. It just doesn't work that way. Unless.... Oh! I didn't realize you were into men! I'm sorry."
"Yep." He said, and chuckled. "No need to be sorry, it's not all that unusual, as far as I know.
"So... when you're bored, you play with yourself?"
"Pretty much." He said. "It's less bored, more... boring." He said. "Yeah, that's the right way to say it."

I suppose that explains the experimental prehensile hair then
>>
>>24246335
I meant sorry for saying what I said, not sorry that you like men. I know how cute guys can be. It would be a damn shame not to be able to oogle Damien when he's walking around shirtless.

When you're boring, huh?
Can you grow extra arms? That's pretty interesting.
>>
>>24246335
"Cool cool."
>>
>>24246335
"What's the most 'out-there' change you've ever made to yourself?"
>>
"When you're boring, huh?" You ask. "Can you grow extra arms? That's pretty interesting."
"Well, I could, but I don't want to ruin Anna's shirt." He said. "Changes to myself tends to be a lot easier than changes to other people."
"What's the most 'out-there' change you've ever made to yourself?"
"Uh... don't ever, ever try to turn into anything that doesn't have a nervous system. I'll just... I'll just tell you that. It took me days to turn back." He said. "Oh, hey, how about that one!"
"But it isn't even trid!" Anna said.
"But it has pirates!" He said. "I love pirates!"
"Fine, fine. Pirates of the Caribbean it is." She said.
>>
ooo a classic.
>>
>>24246484
"Hooray pirates! Oh, Anna, my dad really was a pirate king! Lambda told me!"
<Einstein, my loyal minion, send a message to Dad and ask if he used Pirates of the Caribbean or other pirate movies and or trideos as inspiration to his shenanigans!>

>>24246484
"Yay, pirates!"
This guy knows what's up.

"Speaking of Pirates, we need to think of a colour scheme for my ship when the parts arrive!"
>>
"Yay, pirates!" You say. "Oh, Anna, my dad really was a pirate king! Lambda told me!"
"Lambda told you?" Theta asked. "When did you ever talk to lambda? Wait. You were the one he was talking to at the end, where he said.. .'by the way, your dad is a pirate king'? Huh. I did not know that."

The introduction of the movie started up, and you almost immediately got distracted by Summer's fuzziness. And then you got immediately restracted by the movie... and distracted again when you found out that Summer's belly was the fuzziest of all.

She was purring, loudly, a claw digging into your pant leg's knee, caught in the denim, and her eyes were halflidded. <I um.> She said, in a very quiet mental voice. <That's... really personal, and I'd like if you didn't do this in front of everyone please?>
>>
>>24246618
<Oh, erm, sorry about that>
>>
>>24246618

Immediately remove hand from belly. Give chin skritches instead. "I didn't know! So sorry, Summer."

You could take us somewhere private.

<Oh!> You say. <Sorry.>
<It doesn't feel bad, exactly, but...> She said.
You slowly move your pettings to her head and back, and she relaxed by degrees, watching the movie.

You watch as the Curse of the Black Pearl is lifted, and then the credits start to roll. You're out of ice cream by now, and Summer is asleep, her head on your lap, purring.
Theta yawned, his stomach gurgling. "When is dinner in this place?"
Anna checked her watch. "About now, actually."
"Awesome." He said.

Nudge Summer awake.

"What's on your menu today, then? I mean, anything is better than rations, but hopefully it isn't that cauliflower stuff again."
>>
"What's on your menu today, then?"
"Bacon!" She said. "And burgers. Burgers with bacon. I'm happy."
"You guys go ahead. I'll grab food with summer when she wakes up."
"Alright." Anna said.
"Make sure to use protection!" Theta said, and snickered evilly as the two made their way out of the room. Anna elbowed him, hard, and he kept chuckling.

You skritch Summer's ears as she slept, and then soon enough, she sat up, eyes half-lidded... So you give her a raspberry on her forehead, making her jump. You couldn't help but giggle at the yellow-and-white tiger's surprised look.
"Where'd everyone go?" She asked.
>>
>>24246895
This. Then we can talk with her without anyone overhearing.

"Went to get food." You say. "But you were asleep on my lap, so I figured I'd wait until you got up."
"Thanks for not just dumping me on the ground." She said, and giggled. You continue scratching her ears, and shoulders. "So, did you enjoy the movies?" You ask. "It's always nice to spend time with you, Summer."
"It is." she said, and grumbled. "Though Theta and Anna had to invite themselves, grumble grumble."
"Though now I have you alone, and your fuzziness is all mine!" You call, and start scratching her belly, and her softest fur. She twitched, bodily, and leapt up to her paws.
"L-let's go get some food, shall we?" She said.
"Alright." You say, and climb to your feet. You were *covered* in tiger fur. Brushing it all off, you and Summer went out to the cafeteria, to dinner.

That much cat fur doesn't come off with a simple sweep. You need at least a lint roller to get it all.
