Hello and Welcome to Millicent Fauxly Quest.
Current Plotline: The Trident of Rowena Ravenclaw
For Updates on the Quest: @PesterHouseElf

Previous threads can be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=millicent+faux

Familiar: Tara
Friends: Olivia, Joel, Nigel, Robert
Sort-of-Friends: Sam, Harriet.

Millicent Fauxly is a first year Ravenclaw who has a fear of large bodies of water, is good at hexes, is usually grumpy about something, has finally opened up enough to gain a close circle of friends.

Her relationship with her sister has improved whilst her family have cut-off communications with her due to her not being housed in Slytherin.
>>
Back in the common room you find that everyone has gone upstairs into their rooms to relax, everyone that is, except for Nigel who sits on the couch looking at the crackling fire. You can see the crystal ball in his hands as he turns and looks at you.

“Hey, Millicent” he says “Come sit, I thought you would want this back”

You sit with him and take the crystal ball.

>Thank you, Nigel.
>I better go upstairs and hide this.
>I know I might be putting you out Nigel but my family doesn’t want me home for the term break, I was wondering I could go back with you? (You can ask each of your friends this question, not just Nigel)

Holding the crystal ball in your hand you think back to the incident with Bergle and how seeing a few seconds into the future saved your life. Was it a fluke? There’s only one sure way for you to find out and that’s by trying to use it again, though you have the sense to do it in private without any distractions. What’s more you have to figure out how to properly trap a ghost inside the ball to use it to build the mannequin for Nathaniel.

“Thank you, Nigel” you say, watching as the flames from the fire dance across the curved glass.

Out of your three Ravenclaw friends you feel like you know Nigel the least. Time to change that.

>Ask Nigel a couple questions

“Are you going to join the Quidditch team?” you ask.

Nigel looks at you, a little disbelieving that you haven’t just upped and walked off on him.

“Well, no, I want to but first years never make the house team” he says “I’ll try out but I probably won’t make the cut until third or fourth year”

“Harriet seems to think she’ll make it” you say
“Yeah, but Harriet’s good at stuff like that I guess”

He asks you if you’re still going to try out for the team. You give an affirmative nod. You’ll try your best to make the team and, despite the fact you won’t admit it to yourself, you secretly hope it’ll go towards Dad forgiving you for becoming a Ravenclaw.

You recall Nigel’s friendship with Sam and how hard he had taken to Sam’s poisoning fiasco.

”I don’t think he did it, of course” he says “Not after everything with Bergle and the contest” says Nigel after you ask him about it, his thin face contorting at the thought of his friend sent away from Hogwarts.

“We met on the train” he says “I was sitting with Olivia and he asked to sit with us, he was really nice, we got along well up until the poisoning. I fill ashamed of myself for ever doubting him”

“There’s no way you could have known” you say as tears well up in Nigel’s eyes.

He looks to you and sniffles, his eyes red from rubbing them.

“I thought you had known him before coming to Hogwarts?”
“It would seem like it, it’s odd, we just clicked and got on really well”

You can see how much it’s affecting him; you decide to change the subject to something lighter.

“So where are you from?”
“Leytonstone, London” he says “I live with my mother on weekdays and my dad on weekends”
“Only one of your parents is a wizard right?”
“Yeah, my Dad”
“I’m sorry to hear that”
”Why?”
“Well…I thought being a muggle wasn’t a good thing”

Nigel furrows his brow in anger before relaxing again.

“I forget sometimes that families like yours don’t hang around people like my mum” he says “She’s amazing, she looks after me as best she can and I love her just as much as my dad”

“That must have been weird for her” you say “raising a wizard”
“Yeah” says Nigel, laughing a bit “When I would get angry or upset I would break a lot of glasses, my mum had to buy new bottles and stuff all the time”

You sit and talk with Nigel for a couple more minutes about life for him with his mum and how he’s adjusting to Hogwarts. You feel like you’ve become a little closer after this and that you can speak to him more freely. You bid him goodnight and make your way upstairs where Olivia and the other two Ravenclaw girls are getting ready for bed.

After everybody had washed up and changed into their night gowns you sit with Olivia on her bed and work your way into asking if you can stay with her for the break.

“That sounds awesome!” she says “My parents will be pretty happy that I’m bringing back my first real friend”

You feel inevitable excitement of living in a muggle home for a week surrounded by their funny ways of living. No magic, no servants, it’ll be like a camping trip minus all the luxury, somehow that sounds a thousand times more appealing than facing going home.

“I’ll send an owl to my parents to ask if you can stay” she says before going to sleep. You decide to do the same.

With the crystal ball in your grasp you decide to see if it will reveal anything to you like before. You sit in bed and pull the covers over your head, placing the crystal ball between your knees and keep it there. In the darkness you look down into the ball and search within in, and yourself, willing to see into the future, the past, or maybe even the present.

The crystal ball begins to glow dimly as a foggy image rises to the surface.

You see yourself. You’re older, maybe by a year. You’re wearing your Ravenclaw robes. Your sister is with you, she looks older too. You’re in a room you’ve never seen before. You’re both sitting on a bed. You have your arm round Maud and she’s hugging you close. You see two suitcases sat behind you.

“I’ll try not to be so damn forgetful” says Maud, hugging you tightly. With a loving smile on your face you kiss her on the cheek and walk out the room. You can see something on the table, a sign, it reads ‘The Leak-“

The dreamlike vision inside the ball fades as you feel your dorm room swim back to you.

“Woah”

>>
>>24226289
It's a pub at Diagon Alley. We probably got a room there when we went to live with our sister. From the looks of it we are preparing to leave for our 2nd year.
>>
Snapping out of the trance state you entered your mind reels from the sheer amount of intended information that has come from this vision.

Your relationship with Maud seems to have continued to blossom like never before, even now the way you talk to each other is miles better than it was when you lived at the manor.

There however is the issue that you’re living together, in what seemed like a single room with one bed, in the Leaky Cauldron. It would seem that your sister’s promise to you will come to pass unless…this is what you want to see, or it might be one possible future, or maybe it won’t happen at all. You have no real idea how the headmaster’s crystal ball works really. The vision you just saw feels like a fluke.

It takes you a long time to get to sleep but you finally manage it.

When you wake the following morning and go downstairs you find your friends excitedly going over what you should all do today.

I'd like to steal the components for the mannequin, but if we're the only ones to stay behind and something were to go missing, we'd be the prime suspect, making this to be a bad idea.

At least now we have Soup, and he should be able to assist us in acquiring the needed materials when there are more potential suspects around to blend in with.

Hogsmead would be a great place to stock up on some useful items. If I remember correctly there is a shop for magical instruments, sportsgoods (our very own broom) and a joke shop.

It's also probably our only option to go shopping and get a haircut. You know you want to.

Before you go Olivia takes you on a detour to the owery to send off her letter to her parents. She gives an excited squeal as her owl swoops down and out of sight.

Crap, crap, crap, crap!

Your friends hand in their permission slips and you wait for the right moment to ask Professor Avori who is looking particularly dapper this morning, dressed in a suit with a long trail down the back with super shiny shoes and a brand new pointy hat.

“Hello, Millie” he says in his Scottish accent as you approach “Got your slip?”
“No, sir” you say “Complications…you know”

Avori looks to you and the rest of the students who are busy talking amongst themselves.

“Well Millie, I’m really not supposed to let you go without permission”

You don’t know what to say, you freeze up, lip trembling a little as a very childish want to not be left out fills you.

“…go on then” he says “But you better be on your best behaviour Miss Fauxly”

You look up with a big ol’ smile on your face. You thank him, give him the quickest of hugs, and then join your friends by the gate.

Before you leave Hogwarts for the first time since arriving Professor Avori, accompanied by Leverty and Gleesan, gives a quick behavioural speech.

“I want you all to be on your best behaviour, you will be the first, first years to be given permission to leave the school for Hogsmeade in over a century, do not spoil this privilege, any messing around will be punishable by all future trips for you to be cancelled, as well as detention for a week, am I clear?”

Everyone gives a quick “Yes, sir!” before he waves his wand to open the gates.

You take a long walk down a forest path, thankful not to wind out going anywhere near the giant lake, and arrive to find the Hogwarts Express waiting for you all in the station.

You feel Olivia’s hand take yours as you and the trio hop onto the train and find a carriage.

You sit with Olivia on one side and Nigel and Joel in the opposite seats. The train kicks off as you head one stop over to Hogsmeade. On the way a complication arises…

The carriage door opens to reveal three slytherin first years who step inside.

“Move over” says one boy with short cropped hair and thick square rimmed glasses, his face his ever-so-slightly chubby, mostly in the cheeks. You’ve seen him around, it’s Charlie, a notorious Slytherin student.

“Carriage is full” you say sternly.

Charles smiles to his friends and then sits between Nigel and Joel, getting right up into their faces as the other two slytherin students, a frankly stunning silver haired beauty and another boy who looks more like a third year than a first, his meaty fist and large gut taking up a lot of room.

Joel takes Nigel by the robe and sits on the other side with you and Olivia.

“Just ignore them” he says “I wouldn’t expect anything less from Slytherin students”

“Oooh” says Charles, waving his hands and giving a nasty sneer “Protecting your girlfriend are we?”

You feel yourself blush.

“Not you blood traitor” he says “the other one”

Also, how do we deal with these Slytherin dweebs next time? I say we're over our Ravenclaw position, so their insult means nothing to us (that's how I perceive it). Love: Millicent, and many of the other characters - especially Maud, Olivia and Nigel - as well as the setting being great for adventures great and small, which you've used pretty well so far (even if the big quest started a bit quickly).

Hate: Uh...not too much I guess. While I definitely don't hate them, Joel is a bit annoying, and Robert was annoying, although I warmed up to him after we actually got to know more about him last thread. Also, as mentioned, a bit more leisurely pace on the big bad year-long adventures.

Want to happen: More lighthearted adventure/sidequest stuff in addition to the big quest (quidditch team tryouts is a good example, another could be overcoming a weakness in a certain class or spell). More bonding with friends (esp. Olivia/Nigel) and Maud, most of all.

Want to avoid: Any kind of romance, at LEAST for a couple of years. Both creepy and stupid, given how shallow our knowledge of pretty much every character is (not to mention more will no doubt be introduced), and I'd prefer avoiding it entirely ATM. Not terribly worried about this though since you shoot it down regularly.

Theories: I don't really have any, other than the common 'Bergle wasn't the big bad for this whole debacle' which is a bit generic.

> What you love about the Quest
You don't soften your blows when the /tg/-dice gods give us unfavorable results. I also like the pacing the quest, which so many other quests lack up to this point. That climatic battle was pretty badass too.

>What you hate
Not telling us up front what we're going to roll for. Sometimes we have to guess when to use our bonuses or immediately after a roll had been thrown.

>What you want to happen
Find who murdered Nathaniel, break Tribs curse, and finally give Nathaniel his peace. I also wouldn't like Millie to live above the Leaky Cauldron, but that may happen if we don't find that trident.

>What you want to avoid
Dying or any of friends to perish.

>Theories (Ironically I don't use this to change what I have in store)
I don't know for sure any more. I'm pretty sure that Trib's curse must involve with the Trident and Nathaniel somehow. I'm also worried about the other Peetree brother now. No doubt he'll blame us for his death. Although, I'm not worried that our fifteen minutes of fame has now made us the attention of every bully that wants to prove their superiority. Which sucks...

Olivia and Maud are closer as you mentioned, but really, we haven't had the time to interact with anyone other than Maud to a serious extent - most obvious with Nigel who's been in the group since it formed, but who we just hadn't taken the time to talk to until extremely recently. Being closer to us than him (because Joel is far more proactive), and Robert, a guy we met later, started off on the wrong foot with, and we haven't spent much time with due to adventures, isn't very impressive. Personally he's easily my least favorite kid so far, including Harriet.

We need to covertly research him to find out what makes his birth such a prodigy. He's a pureblood, his family is definitely in the library records.

Quest when?
>>
>>24241036
>Love
The overarching mystery, most all the original characters, our family drama and the unexpected bonding with Maud that followed
>Hate
Hate's a strong word, but I was a bit annoyed with Joel when he revealed his true power, particularly how he was able to apparently figure out the whole mystery all at once with what seemed to be zero reasoning. I've warmed up to him a bit, but still don't think he's shown himself suited for Ravenclaw.
Happen: Learn more spells (maybe include some original ones, since the books have a fairly limited selection?), continue to develop social links
Avoid: Romance for now, also any 'destiny' or 'chosen one' nonsense
Theories: The ultimate goal of the malefactors is not to find the Trident for themselves, but to prevent Nathaniel's body from ever being found, as doing so would reveal the very incriminating facts of his demise.
To that end, the recent sabotage and suchlike was for the ultimate goal of making participating in the contest forbidden to Hogwarts students.
>>
>>24242211
So maybe at some point they'll be flicking through the wizarding version of Who's Who and discover a common distant relative and Joel will get proper friendzoned when Millie concludes he's like a brother to her.

Though of course this wouldn't be happening any time soon.

Regardless, a delicious idea.

Its that possibility that makes the quest unique im my eyes, we've actually got to fight to be the MC of our own quest, much like a real life person surrounded by other talented people would be.

>What you hate

nothing really. if there's any part i don't like its Fur Elise, but i understand we're young and we have our doll. Did we cast her off a little early? i think yes, but eventually i do want her to just stay in the bedroom at all times.

Ok, i take that back, if there's something i have mild distaste for its that all the activities we do are more or less everything harry did. Id like to explore more aspects of Hogwarts school life. Like, for instance, when we nearly burned down the Forbidden Forest? i was actually incredibly excited for that to happen, because it ment our world is irrevocably, utterly different than HP's. A stage is removed, what would step in to take it's place?

>What you want to happen

a lot of things. Exploring (not so much dungeon crawling but finding nice hidey holes to sit and read away from everyone else), new magical knickknacks and items, maybe delve deeper into topics the books only broach. Also, traps. I want someone to feel like they've won until we reach up from a bloody heap on the floor, grin, and flip the BURN EVERYTHING switch. I feel that deep down in there somewhere there's a true tactical genius waiting for her moment to strike.

>What you want to avoid

being too nice, having too many friends, basically being viscous and ambitious, though tactful and ladylike. That said i realize these are traits we'd need to grow into. (finishing classes for young witches on the weekends, maybe?)

i should clarify, i WANT us to be

>viscous and ambitious, though tactful and ladylike. That said i realize these are traits we'd need to grow into. (finishing classes for young witches on the weekends, maybe?)

also, we're pretty hardy, (high body score) but nothing we do really reflects that.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I dunno if we could of stayed conscious when the roof caved in. I think it showed during that high fall when our broom was sabotaged.
