You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. After a great deal of work, you have become a Paladin like your Father, and now take up his duties.

You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mari, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighters, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.

Your journey continues...

You headed up into the mountains with Crazy Ted hoping to get to the Bear Shrine library, and maybe get a boar or two for dinner.

What you actually got was the scent of porcelain and orange oil behind you and in front of you. You took a detour into a cave to ambush your ambushers.

You learned that Ted isn't a dragon, or some lizard-kin, but a Dragon Servant. A tribe of humans who were raised, trained, and bred to be the gentleman's gentleman for Dragons. Apparently he used to work for Whitefire, until she went on an insane rampage and your Father put her down. He's been looking for Old One, because he /needs/ a master. He's also been arranging for Dragon Hunters to disappear or have accidents when they go out looking for Old One.

You sprung the trap on your pursuers. They were the Shadow Sisters, the beautiful vampires that work for Jeremy Sandover. With help from your weapon, Beacon, and its regained power, you dispatched the pair. Upon interrogation, you got some upsetting news. There are three sisters. Two of them were sent to kill you, and the other one was going to the Bear Shrine Library to obtain a book for Sandover.

Using a One-Hasted-Boar-Open-Canvas-Sheet-Sleigh, you swiftly made your way to the shrine, which turned out to be more of a large temple, now fallen to ruin.

At the entrance to the Library, you found the Occuli guard there, wounded but alive. Apparently the Sister didn't arrive alone. She had a friend in a mask. The two of them were able to enthrall the Occuli's unit, 7 soldiers, and then went down into the library to search.

Time is short, and there's no telling what could happen in those cramped quarters, not to mention that you have to deal with two powerful enemies, and their now-aggressive hostages. But you need that book, or at the least, Sandover can't get it.
>>
Well obviously we follow them in. Try and take out the occuli nonlethally. Be sure to remind Crazy Ted about that too.
>>
alright we need to get down there pronto. Mari\Peri should split up and try and get around them. So should Lea. I really doubt theres any insects around here but Tricia should at least look.

Ssen and Mage should confront the group. Mage will try a group disable with sleep or stone to mud for the Occuli. Ssen will try to destroy the masked man's mask with an arrow shot as our opening salvo. Once everyone is distracted by us two Lea shall go after the vampire while Mari\Peri shall go after the masked man.
>>
we need to catch up to them, after that;

Mage and Lea take on the thralls, Lea is mostly nonlethal damage, and Mage can spam sleep spells. Leave Ted to help subdue the guards too, as he was recently hurt.

Peri/Mari and us take the vamp and the Mask, and hope our friends can take the guards quickly.
>>
>>24149170
forgot Tricia, she should help subdue the guards too with bugs, as they are mostly nonlethal.
>>
Think we need to know more about the situation to decide anything more than 'spam submission stuff at the guards', really.
>>
I would like to make one statement.

If it comes down to kill or be killed; I'm fine with dropping these guards.

Non-lethal is all good to try for at first but I prefer Ssen friends to live over getting killed in an attempt to do something that might not be possible.

My two cents. And yeah I can see the 'oh god no we have to save them all!' post coming after this.
>>
>>24149445
I agree, but we should definitely make sure our friends (and especially our currently allied crazy dragon worshipper) know that we don't want to kill them unless it quite literally comes down to us or them and we have no choice.
>>
>>24149445
the way I see it, a guard losing an arm could be considered nonlethal when it comes down to a choice of our friends getting killed, or harming the guards.
>>
>>24149445
Yeah, although hopefully they'll be awful at fighting.
>>
>>24149481
Which is fine. I said to give it try first time through even. However, as you said, if it comes down to them or us we need to see where that point is and actually act on it. Not keep banging our heads against a wall and screaming "NON-LETHAL! NON-LETHAL!"

>>24149564
I have my doubts. They are supposed to be guards, you know have some training in how to fight. If its true or not we'll find out soon enough.

Oh man what's this not doing on the front page, I almost missed it.

And echo, is it as stupid an idea as I think it is to bite ourselves so that our blood is corrosive to vampire fangs?
>>
>>24149611
see, we're not banging our heads on non-lethal.

we just had to yell NON LETHAL YOU JERKS when we were outnumbering the vampires 3-1

in a 7-6, we TRY nonlethal on the guards, but I am sure as fuck going to stab the guy controlling the guards. RIght in the mask..
>>
>>24150045
That sounds hilariously stupid.

Obviously we're gonna end up doing it at some point.
>>
okay, PLAN FOR ACTION:

Guard A, watch the downed guard and the door, yell if you notice anything off.

Guard B, go get your boss and re-enforcements. Come in and help us if you hear battle.

We go in to investigate.
>>
>>24149963
Apologies on the gap, was called away.

"Alright, let's try to not kill the Occuli as best we can. That goes for you too Ted. Mage, sleep spell duty, Tricia any friends that can lay people out are good. Lea, pull the punches. Peri/Mari, I want you to scout forward and find the real vamps. THOSE two we take out as quick as we can."

"Are we gonna try to keep one alive, like that vampire torso we left with the Occuli?" Peri/Mari ask.

"Not a huge priority." You say. "Also, don't risk your life if you can't go non-lethal. Got it?"

The group nods and you head down the stairs.

The Library is a spiderweb of book shelves that go from floor to ceiling. The smell of old dust and mildew is everywhere, and there's no real light sources. Normally Occuli go inside here with hooded lanterns. That's what they must be using.

You don't have one, but you can see in the dark, and Peri has excellent low-light vision. Of course, there's always lighting up Beacon, but that's a giant 'We're HERE!' sign to anyone nearby.

Also the hall you're in ends at a T-section, you can head right or left. There's no signs or labels telling you what is where. All you know is two things. 1) You occasionally see flickers of light looking through the shelves of books, 2) By general maze structure, if you stick your hand to the left wall and keep walking, you'll get to the center.
>>
>>24150144
stupid library, why is it a maze. How dare they. I bet they have way too many books on biography. That's what is going on here.

I want to light up the beacon and call them to us, but they might choose to run away instead of conflicting us. How many exits are there to the librarium? If there's only one, I say we're cleared for beacon. If we don't know the answer to that question, well, maybe ask tricia the answer to that question with bugs.
>>
>>24149611
>>24149564

Echo DID say that they were all members of the green occuli.

Desk Jockeys
>>
>>24150144
We can utilize bugs to get a feel for the maze, right? Unless Tricia has poor spatial-awareness.
>>
>>24150194
>How many exits are there to the librarium?
Just one, and you're in front of it, right now.

>And echo, is it as stupid an idea as I think it is to bite ourselves so that our blood is corrosive to vampire fangs?

Your blood is already a bad idea for vampires to snack on. Just in general toxicity, not for your venom. But no, that method wouldn't work.
>>
>>24150045
We're not immune to Lamia venom. We'd melt ourselves.
>>
>>24150225
not ONLY are they fucking librarians, they're vampire enthralled librarians. They not only suck at fighting, they have significantly lessened personal initiative.

We'll have no trouble with nonlethals as long as we keep a tactically strong position and don't let the vampire and maskman fuck up out takedowns.
>>
>>24150237
We ARE immune to our own venom. Just not others.
>>
>>24150226
wait, calling bugs. into an ancient library.
probably not our best idea.

>>24150237
we are immune to our own venom, but if a different lamia bites us its heart attack death within 2 minutes. cant bone melt a lamia.
>>
>>24150237
that's wrong for two reasons:

A. lamias, when biting each other, cause no bone melting, and instead a simple and easy stopping of the heart.

B. lamias are immune to their own personal poison.

we're in a library. We're a snake. We can see in the dark.

>>
>>24150255
You think there aren't a gazillion bugs around already? Must be plenty to use.
>>
>>24150261
Tricia shakes her head. "No dice, not enough of them around here. The Occuli caretakers did a good job of keeping this place pretty insect free."
>>
>>24150261
Is it a maze of bookshelves, or straight walls? If bookshelves, I again suggest peeking over.
>>

Would the shelves even hold us? We're not exactly light.

Still, might as well try.

Get mage to cast a tracking spell of some sort to our target (or closest living human if that's too specific).
>>

Look left, shield right.

Then look right, shield left.

Then get a good smell going on, because I aint got time for mazes. Hopefully we can get a smell or trace going on, since we'll have to beacon soon otherwise.
>>
>>24150315
Makes no difference really. If you need a direction though then first look right w/ shield left, then look left w/ shield right.
>>
>>24150358
"You have any tracking spells, Mage?" You whisper as you look around the left turn. Dead end.

"No, but I do have the stalking spell." Mage says. "But I have to focus on that, so I wont be able to drop anyone until I stop that spell."

You look right. There's a person there dressed in cold weather clothes about halfway down this hall of shelves.. They've got a hooded lantern and are slowly scanning the books. They haven't seen you yet.
>>
>>24150438
well, standard plan for if we aren't sure of hostiles.

"Hey get out of here, there's vampires around"

If they attack you, shit, you know to clobber them upside the head with your pole. If they leave, then they were a civilian.

Right? Or am I stupid here? I have really no idea how smart or good vampires and thralls are in this universe, so I am winging it.
>>
>>24150463
Or you can just sleep spell them and move on.
>>
>>24150471
see? I was being stupid here.

Mage, sleep that spell up. Duh. Sleep spells. How could I forget.
>>
>>24150438
I'd say we should approach and talk, on their own no-one down here should be much of a threat and there's a chance for information.
>>
>>24150493

You carefully slither towards the person. He's got an Occuli amulet on. You get within five feet of him and he spins to look at you pointing the lantern directly at your eyes.

He hisses.

"Mage, now!" Tricia says.

Mage nods and fires the spell

Mage's sleep spell is modified Ghoul Magic. The spell constricts the blood flow to the brain until the target passes out. In this case, there was a slight hiccup. Instead of choking off the blood, he sends a massive MASSIVE rush of blood to his brain and head.

Blood pours out from his nose, ears, and mouth. Then his eyeballs bulge and go bloodshot before they burst. He drops to the ground, screaming and howling in pain.

There's a cry from deeper within the library, you hear multiple sounds of footsteps all running. Some sound like they're going away from you, and some are coming closer to you.

Agreed. Someone needs to become an alchemist in our group to make stuff like that. Someone that isn't Mage.
>>
>>24151370
hence ted is a high ranking objective, almost as high as the book.

Keep ted alive. Learn where the hell he got healing potions. We should have really done this after the trollblood incident, but we got distracted by CITADEL.
>>
>>24151384
Yeah, maybe Ssen should take it up herself? Can't let paladin duties be an excuse for not pulling our weight, and with Tricia as a reagent-finder we'd have it covered as a duo.
>>
>>24151294
"Do it, but quickly. Hopefully he'll survive."

Tricia nods and dashes off and then comes back. "He's passed out, but breathing. The sooner we get him actual help though, the better."

Lea is using strips of her bandages to constrain the other two Occuli.

"I'm sorry!" Mage said. "Magic's fickle and libraries are notorious for causing weird things to happen."

"Don't apologize to us!" Mari says.
"Come on!"

You all run towards the center. You hear two people talking as you approach.

"But it's wrong wrong wrong, you see. We can't get the book off, if we don't have the key." A female voice says.

"We'll just have to brute force it." A male voice says. "Get the Occuli to pry it open."

"But the trap, and the pain, we'll lose our toys without much gain."

"The trap can't have that much power to it, eventually they'll pry it loose enough for you or me to collect it. No matter if we lose them in the process. We need that book now, before she gets here."

"Who?"

"The Paladin Serpent...her." The male points at you and your company as you enter the center rotunda.

>>

She'd learn.

Plus, a paladin alchemist is pretty unusual, so it'd annoy Citadel more.
>>
>>24151520
I imagine Ssen will probably pick up alchemy EVENTUALLY, but eventually is a long time. It may happen after the lifespan of this quest.

Even though I hope this quest goes on into lamia paladin quest, lamia mother quest, lamia mayor quest, and so on and so forth until we find a new protagonist, who will then have Ssen as a granny type figure.

The center of the library is a very large circular room. There's a dome overhead with a faded fresco painting of men and women in bear hooded cloaks. They're hunting, building, writing, etc. It's a record of the Mountain Tribe that lived here. There's a lit chandelier of old iron and large wax candles above you all bathing the area in flickering orange light.

There are four corridors leading out of the rotunda, you came in from the east one.

The 'walls' are the same as the rest of the library, curved bookshelves, and all of them packed tightly with old books.

There's four pedestals in the center of the room, arranged in a cross but in an opposite configuration as the exits. (The corridors are N,S,E,W. The pedestals are NW, SW, SE, NE) They're four feet high, and each of them has a large book on them. Each book is locked within a metal cage. There's a circular indentation in the center of the cage, suggesting that you need some kind of circular shaped key a little bigger than a Medallion to open the cages. There's a prybar, scribbled notes, and other signs that make it clear that this group has been trying to open one of the book display cages.

There's three Occuli standing around the book pedestal. On the ground is the fourth one, he's twitching and his hands are charred and smoking. The prybar on the ground is also smoking. Apparently there's counter-measures to prevent opening the cages without a key. It also looks like the Occuli are going to keep trying to open the cage, regardless of their own safety.

There's the third Shadow Sister. She looks like the other two. White mask with just the eyes showing, and black clothing wrapped around her tightly.

The other man standing next to her is dressed in the non-descript brown robes that you've seen the Dramatae wear in your dreams. Only this one is wearing a different mask. This is the face of a person with a wide toothy smile and their eyes gleefully looking upwards. This is Passion.

(More coming)

Yeah, I think that's what echo is writing write now. Something similar.

We might be merciful and nice as hell, but we're not above doing lethal damage to the mastermind of a plot. Whether or not we can heal up that lethal damage later, well, that's for triage to decide.
>>

To the third sister: "We already stopped your two sisters, and they regretted following him. Consider now whether you'd like to regret it before or after we defeat you."
>>
>>24151783
Let's see how much Passion enjoys a sword in his gut.
>>
>>24151783
The Shadow Sister has a scepter in one hand. It's a small wand of obsidian, clutching a red egg-shaped gem.

Passion has a mace. It's a simple looking thing, a steel shaft, wooden handle, and the head is a large metal ball with small metal bumps on it. However, it's also showing the blue wisps of magic coming off of it.

Passion holds up his hand. "A deal. You walk away, and take the Occuli with you. No one dies."

Peri goes in double slashing at Passion.

You are too busy in Paradise.

Ted swipes again at the Sister.

Passion tries to take on Peri.

The Occuli who was charred sticks the pry bar into the cage and wrenches it hard. There's a horrid sparking and snapping as there's an electrical discharge. Eventually the Occuli drops to the floor, blood dripping from his eyes. He's dead. The pry bar is there, and the cage is just slightly, slightly, open. The lock has popped, but the cage is still holding, rusted hinges and magic holding it tight.

Tricia tries to keep the other Occuli out of the fight.

Lea continues her attack on the Sister.

The Sister points her staff at the dead Occuli. The red egg stone flares.

Mage tries to drop an Occuli.

Peri's first slash gets Passion, and Passion swings back, but Peri gracefully ducks out of the way, so Passion slams his mace down on one of the other book cages, there's more sparks and the sound of a scream as Passion is slightly electrocuted.

Lea does a glancing blow against the sister.

Tricia clonks one of the Occuli right upside the head with her sickle pommel, and Mage causes the other one to drop to the ground asleep.

The last upright Occuli tries to swing at Tricia to get her to move.

Peri keeps working her magic with her blades on the masked asshole.

(No, the crit and the Dramatae power kept beacon down.)

Passion screams as Tricia gouges his back with her blade.

Lea does a beautiful spin kick right into the sister's face. Smashing the mask into pieces, and embedding parts of it into her face. She staggers back into Passion.

"Sister, sister..." She wails. "Master...it's all wrong. It's too bright, and there's no beauty...take me...take all of me Master...and let me stay beautiful."

She puts both her hands on the Lust Mace. There's a flare of magic, and the Sister falls back, dead, with a look of bliss on her face.

"Not our fault. Peri says.

Lea pats Mage on the back. "And that's why we carry our burdens as one. Come on."

"Right, hey can I take that scepter as a gift for Sophie?" Mage asks.

"Later, lover boy." Tricia says.

Peri collects the Lust Mace, the Sister's Scepter, and the Iron Book of Dragons. She opens it and lets out a low whistle. "These pages are iron plates with gold letters embedded into it. "I spent most of that fight off in lala land. I totally didn't earn this unmasking, you get to."

"Oh good," She grins. "We're going to hang this one on a wall in our trophy room back in Stone Hall. We'll need a proper collection."

She pulls the string loose and the mask falls to the ground.

"Ughh..." Passion sighs. "Hello, Ssen Patrick. I'd offer you a drink, but I don't have the usual vodka with me."

The man smirks. You can see his hair begin to grey and wrinkles appear on his face. The youthful man in his prime is shifting back to the older man that was the first friendly face you saw once your journey began in earnest. He sighs sadly and coughs.

"Really...not who I was expecting." You say, stunned.

"But...but he's the guy who..." "What have you done with my body!?" Peri and Mari say.

"Nothing. It's back in White Tree." He says. "I would not risk anything to it."

>>
>>24155204

If we're lucky, maybe Balles will go over the paperwork to fill out to request a formal inquiry for a functionary to gather the necessary signatures from requisite bureaucrats to request a form for a Jurist, and leave all of the Dawnchasers alone in the same room with a restrained Trivalon.
>>
>>24155080
"If you won't answer questions, would give a confession, at least?"
>>
>>24155126
Peri/Mari keep trying to get Trivalon to talk. He remains silent. After a bit she sees to the unconscious Occuli, making sure that they're okay.

Ted sneaks a look at the Iron Book of Dragons, but looks crestfallen when he sees the letters and closes the book and puts it back in the sack.

Trivalon, to his credit, doesn't try anything to escape or struggle against your coils, apart from the occasional adjustment.

After four hours, Paladin Balles and the Red Occuli arrive.

"Paladin Ssen..." He looks at the scene. "Please tell me..." He looks around at the injured Occuli the dead vampire. The still 'living' vampire that Lea brought in, and all the damage to the scene. Not at least the fact that you have a respected Overseer wrapped up in your coils. "Everything."
>>
>>24155249
Balles may be more of a phoenix man but that doesn't make the whole department completely clean. If he was such a problem that Sandover and the Humors couldn't swing something if they wanted he would not be allowed to remain in office.

"Honestly, Balles, I have no idea whats going on myself. We found ourselves being stalked by a pair of vampires, and when we took them down the surviving one ranted about a third sister and a raid on the Bear Shrine. So we rushed here as fast as we could on our magic-boosted boar, found the library being raided, defeated the thieves and unmasked the ringleader. I was shocked to discover that it was the Overseer."

"We apprehended Trivalon and killed the vampire. We tried our best to subdue them nonlethally, but some of your men were injured or killed in the fighting."

We tried to incapacitate as many as we could. They were trying to force open these cages, at the cost of their lives."

Balles nods. "They're well known for being trapped. Legend says that they keys are hidden within here, but it is taboo to search for them apparently." He looks at the empty cage. "Where's the missing book?"

Over his shoulder you see Ted shake his head, and, pleadingly, mouth the word 'No.'
>>
>>24155418

Personally I don't think it matters about the book.

We're going to need to take a look at it anyway, to discover what they were after. I don't think Balles will cut us out of the loop on this one, right?

We have it of course. If the forces of Darkness wish it so badly its best we know why.

"I've taken possession of it for the time being in the hopes of discovering their motivation for taking it."
>>
>>24155531
That's still lying no matter what way you spin it. It gains us nothing doing so.
>>
>>24155436
No point in lying since it will give Travilon a chance to catch us in a lie later. So we explain that we're going to keep it as evidence for the time being until we've learned everything we can about it and why they wanted it.
>>
Keep in mind that we were specifically given permission to read things in the library, just not take them out. So we should not say we've confiscated or taken the book; if it comes to it, we'll make it clear we intend to read it here. Assuming he questions further.
>>
>>24155531
There's no room for us to "creatively" lie or lie by omission. Balles is straight up asking where it went. Trivalon SAW us take it. He use can that to hurt our credibility if we lie.

You release Trivalon from your coils into the hands, and then chains, of the Red Occuli.

"They were trying to steal this book. As the arresting Paladin, I have confiscated it as evidence."

You hold up the book.

Balles nods. "Very well. Please ensure that it is properly returned to this facility. Your possession of the book will be noted."

"Also," You say. "When I questioned this vampire." You point at the legless creature. "She said that her master's name was Jeremy."

"That's because I kidnapped her and her sisters from Jeremy Sandover's pleasure house." Trivalon speaks up. "They were aging employees of his, and I was able to gain their loyalty with promises of eternal life and beauty."

"Hmm." Balles says. "Take these two away, and imprison them. Collect any further confession you can from the creature, then behead her. Overseer Trivalon, you are charged with necromancy, muder of an occuli, enthrallment of an occuli, attempted murder, attempted murder of a Paladin, attempted theft, and defilement of Citadel property."

The overseer nods and gives you a content, sad, smile as he's taken away.

Balles sighs. "This is a mess. I shudder at the paperwork, it seems I was correct that the presence of the Paladin Serpent heralds danger and destruction. I admit I am pleased that this place is not burnt to the ground."
>>
>>24155714
"Sorry about the death and destruction, balles. But we did our best to prevent the wildfires you mentioned.

I take it from your sentencing there's no cure for vampirism?"
>>
>>24155714
Smile. "On the contrary - this time, the presence of danger and destruction heralded the Paladin Serpent. Regardless, there's definitely something more to this situation. I don't buy Trivalon's story for a second."

"Please don't say things like that until after we've left, otherwise I just know someone's going to knock a lamp over on the way out."

"Sorry about the death and destruction, balles. But we did our best to prevent the wildfires you mentioned.

I take it from your sentencing there's no cure for vampirism?"

He shakes his head. "There is, but she has attacked a Paladin, her retinue, and conspired against Citadel. The only crime that I could pardon would be that if she was involuntarily changed and killed to sate her hunger. From what she has told you, and Trivalon, she did all actions of her own free will. Death is her cure."

Balles looks at the mace and frowns. "Circumstantial evidence at best." He says. "But understandable."

"Also, this one has not killed anyone as far as what she has told me, she was instructed by some, someone specifically named Jeremy, not to feed on humans unless ordered, and instead fed on goats."

Balles taps his chin. "That can easily be explained by a number of things, but I agree with your general point. Still that's theft of Citadel property, as a vampire. The law is clear."

"Can we at least find out her identity? If she has family and friends? I'd like to notify her next of kin. Nobody should die alone."

Balles snaps his finger. "I can give you three days to find that out. She is allowed to have family present before her execution as an option. I can give you that much time, and permission to look into Sandover's business. But unless you can find concrete evidence that she was unwilling made into a vampire, and that every action she took was against her will, then the only sentence is death." He looks at you. "Also, I will expect you to fill out ALL the paperwork after this is done...and you will be the one who executes her, since you are pushing for her appeal. That is the law."

Exactly. Paranoia talking: if he has even a single Occuli or other official in on this, that kind of switch wouldn't be hard.

It couldn't hurt to see if there's some way to verify someone's true form, or otherwise disprove this possibility. He seemed to have answers that were just too convenient for why Jeremy was connected but uninvolved and completely blameless, which doesn't jive with the vampire's comment about Jeremy.

>>24156141
As soon as everyone else leaves, two things:

Talk to Ted, ask him what made him so paranoid about the book and why he seemed to think that we shouldn't tell Balles about it. Was it just that the book has data about dragons, or something more?

After that, even though we only have three days, I don't think we should head straight back to town without doing a bit of research here. I'm hesitant to hang onto this book outside the library, on the off chance it'll violate our permit (which in Balles' city would be a Serious Offense), but on the other hand if we do some preliminary research and there's nothing apart from this book that we want to look into past today, we could head back for now...
>>

Unlikely he'd be a voluntary fall guy for Sandover unless either 1) he's also mind-controlled or 2) he has some way to get out of this or 3) Sandover has threatened him with some fate he considers worse than death (such as threatening a family member).
>>
>>24156883
Tricia's -our- dirty cop.

We're the nubile and irreverent shoplifter.
>>
>>24156910
or he was always working against us as a minor Dramatae, and is simply playing his part now to protect a far more powerful player.

He did have a probable Dramatae mask, which reversed his age, meaning he could have been one from the start, or even been working against some of the others at times. Remember Rage betrayed the others by helping us at Stone Hall, and was killed for it.
>>
>>24157041
oh man the dramatae are gonna be mad.

But I mean

What the fuck do they expect sending vampires at us, for us to NOT figure it out?
>>
>>24157041
I doubt he's a real dramatae, considering that we took him down with remarkably little trouble, and our last meeting with an actual dramatae involved him dropping an spell on us which we couldn't even roll to resist.
>>
>>24157158
he had TWO artifacts of what appear to be moderate power.

The exact MO described to us of dramatae.

Apparently their equipment varies based on priority to citadel.
>>
>>24157158
Remember they were going to test someone to have them turned into one of Dramatae or join them. He may just have not had his power given to him yet.
>>
>>24157189
He's also an influential Overseer. He could have gotten them through his connections.
>>
>>24157189
>>24157211
The dramatae may have discovered our dream-bug.
They may have sent multiple prospects to foul us up.
>>
>>24157158
or they just vary in power, remember Peace is considerably more powerful than the others according to what we know, I dont see a reason they couldn't be a bunch of Minor Dramatae that are dramatically weaker than Peace, Rage, Tragedy and Comedy.

the more populous the emotion the more powerful they seem to be, with Peace being the strongest, considering actual passion is strongly curtailed by Citadel, it would make sense for it to be considerably weaker

Currently in the process of re-reading all the old threads for anything about Trivalon, taking this new revelation into account.

In our first meeting with him:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/23602868/#p23639581
> Overseer Trivalon nods. "Yes, and your father as well, Ssen. In our younger days when I was just a researcher here, I was their go-to man for making sense of all of the trouble they got into. I see the apples haven't fallen far." He pours out four glasses of a red liquid. "They'd always come to me with stories and questions, and pay me with the gold and treasure that they'd find." He gestures to the opulence around him. "It was quite beneficial, exciting too, felt like I was one of the rebel sages of the library of whispers, working to help the Lightbringers." He sighed and then paused. "Nothing's happened to River's Crossing, has it? You know how those tales always start."

Also something we've forgotten: Mari has a medallion:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/23647709/#p23657470

Related to that, we might actually want to look at the other three enclosed books while we're here, and:
>>24151783
>There's a circular indentation in the center of the cage, suggesting that you need some kind of circular shaped key a little bigger than a Medallion to open the cages

And another forgotten detail:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/23858749/#p23864811
> "Also, here...this is something we retrieved from Lady Glenn's apartments, after the watch searched it." It's an old journal, it's written in code...more importantly embossed on the leather cover are the Dramatae masks.

We never decoded and read that.
>>
>>24157487
>We never decoded and read that.
I had always assumed Mari/Peri or Mage would be decoding it. Off screen as it were. If that's not the case then Echo needs to let us know.
>>
So we have the awesome Beacon, Mage has the legendary Fell Hind Staff, Tricia has that special insect druid sickle, Lea is too badass for weapons.
What do Peri/Mari have? Some cheap daggers and a generic crossbow? We need to get them something proper, they tend to do good shit in combat.
>>
>>24157878
>Fell Hind Staff
Didn't he break that?
>>
>>24157878
They're welcome to the mace after Mage finishes reverse-engineering it, but that doesn't really fit their style. And Mage wants the scepter for Sophie. So yeah, next bit of awesome weaponry (found or forged) goes to them.
>>
>>24157878
They have the power of minmaxing.

Seriously two minds which are seriously skilled in very different fields can get really scary.

That said, we should remove the brakes on their rape train and get them some badass artifacts.
>>
>>24157878
peri/meri tend to coat their shit in alchemy.

dark souls has taught me you can't use alchemy on magic weapons.
>>
>>24157924
he broke the other one, not his

>>24157878
next swords we find go to Peri, same with a crossbow etc fir Mari.

Lea might want the mace, pending on if she is more Bard or Monk.
>>
>>24157936
More like you can't use magic on alchemy-magick'd weapons.
>>
>>24157924
He broke his sister's one. They were a pair but now his is unique.

>>24157936
If that does apply to this setting, we can still get them something good that's mundane. Like quicksilver or whatever else we come across.
>>
>>24157978
no, dummy.

we get lea a new instrument.

and some kamen rider outfit.
>>
>>24157978
Considering that her idea of 'stunning' someone involves cracking their ribs with her fists, I'd assume Monk.
>>
>>24157978
Lea would probably do better with some quicksilver knuckles. Maybe. But at the moment she wields the fist of the Light, at least against vampires.
>>
>>24158045
is it sacriligeous to work emblems of the light into our weaponry?
>>
>>24156199
"I'm fine with those terms. I'm not expecting a miracle here, and I would not be surprised if she DID become a vampire out of her own free will - but there's something seriously fucked up going on around here, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it. If not, well... I guess I wouldn't want someone else to carry out the execution." You say.

Okay, so do you want to snoop around the Bear Shrine Library or just head back to Bronze Peak? Your three days start tomorrow, but the trip back will use up nearly all of the day, you'll be able to maybe visit one person or place and just briefly.

If you want to stay you can, and leave early and arrive at Bronze Peak early enough to have a full day of work.
>>
>>24158179
We're on page 10. I'm starting a new thread.
>>
>>24158179
so, if we have a night in the library, we only lose one interrogation?

I think it would be worth it, finding out what the fuck this book is about.
>>
>>24158196
yay
