Good morning, ladies and gents. Welcome back to Demi Quest! As you might recall, previous threads can all be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Alex%20Hanger

Last time on Demi Quest: We began our first official mission, being sent out into the jungle in the dead of night to hunt a rare breed of Abomination and it's summoner(s). We headed deep in, finding an enormous tree to hide ourselves in as we scanned the surroundings. Cheshire was sent down the tree and into the forest to flush out the prey, but ended up ambushed herself. After a vicious battle where the dice thirsted for Melon's blood, we defeated the beast and received new orders: Head back to base, as our partner was too heavily damaged to continue.

Currently we are travelling through the jungle back to base. You have a bad feeling crawling its way down your spine, keeping you on edge. You send a glance to Cheshire, easily looking through the massive chest wound to Melon inside.

What do you do? I would remind you you have 2XP, so consider what you spend it on. You cannot make an actual purchase until 098 has a chance to sit down with a good set of tools.

A fine day in this man's Empire!

We of course stay alert for any possible hostile activity. We should also motion for Melon to stay behind us, due to her ruptured cockpit and vulnerable state.
>>
Rolled 57

I suggest spending the XP on some sort of upgrade to our sniping rolls.
>>
>>24037547

As said at last thread, this is my intent as well. For now though, we need to actually manage to safely return to base.
>>
>>24037501
Make sure to stick close enough to shield Melon if anything attacks, and keep watch as we move.

>>24037547
Telescopic vision, or maybe improved stabilizing for steadier shots, would be my suggestions.
>>
>>24037590
sounds like a plan to me.
>>
>>24037542
But what if something attacks from behind?
>>
>>24037719
Her rear armour isn't shredded. One shot through the hole in her cockpit at the front and she's dead.
>>
>>24037719

Then her cockpit, at the least, is nor facing it.
>>
You order Cheshire a bit closer in, moving infront of her to help cover her incase anything happens. "So how are you feeling?" You ask. "I know with the connection, I can feel almost like Imperator's armor was my own skin. Pain is muted, of course, but... I figure you've got to be feeling that." You say, keeping a good pace through the jungle.

"It hurts. Thankfully not as bad as if someone ripped my ribcage out, but like someone took a knife to my chest. I'm having a hard time breathing." She admits, keeping her weapon ready as she follows. "How far our are we?" She asks.

"Little less than two miles. We'll be coming up on them soon." You explain, eyes open.

I need a Mind roll. 3 dice. +1 for Radar.

>>
>>24037887
You almost overlook a patch of white in the jungle as you look over your shoulder. You do a more in-depth search and pale slightly. You have two unknowns following you. Likely Abominations, if the white was what you think.

"Melon, we got a problem. Two likely hostiles stalking us, looks... about a hundred yards back, barely in my sight range with all these trees." You say. You hear her swearing as Cheshire kicks into a higher gear. You pick up the pace as well.

Try to outrun them? Fight? Call in backup? Any combination of these?
>>
>>24037937

Its not about "Waifus", its about duty and valued comrades.
>>
>>24037956

Melon continues to run, we call for back up, and attempt a fighting retreat to delay them.
>>
>>24037956
Outrun them while calling backup.
>>
>>24037966
Implying Melon is not going to end up as our waifu
You know it is inevitable

>>24037981
Rather, Melon runs on, we do a fighting retreat after her. What if one of them disengages and goes after her?
>>
>>24037956
Let Melon go first, we'll do a fighting retreat and radio the base.
>>
>>24038000

That was what I intended, actually, Melon should not bother to fight, she runs, we fight.
>>
Rolled 69

>>24037956

Melon is to move ahead of us, while we reduce pace, but continue moving forward to prevent arousing suspicion. We wait until the Abominations are close enough we can get a good shot even with all this foliage, and then open fire on them.
>>
>>24038028
sorry, my reading comprehension is in the shitter right now
>>
>>24037956
run if they engage we try to keep them off of her as much as possible. Call for backup.
>>
If there's going to be relations I say we go for the twins.
>>
>>24038122

Can we save this for a time where we are not possibly to be devoured by Abominations?
>>
>>24037981
Sounds like a plan to me.
>>
"Cheshire, move ahead, I'll delay. Base, this is Imperator, you still have backup on standby?" You radio in. Cheshire keeps her high speed as you slow slightly. "Confimed, Imperator. Rock and Roll are ready to deploy. You need them?" The radio operator asks. "Yeah, we got two on our tail. I'm going to delay while Cheshire moves on to base." You respond. "Copy. Sending them out now." He informs you.

You let the Abominations move closer, and manage to get glimpses of them. Thankfully it seems to only be two of the ape-like ones, but you still do not like your odds too well. You rack your shotguns, information flowing over the bottom of your screens as 098 calculates wind, distance, speed, shot spread, etcetera.

Ranged roll, 5+1 to open fire and try to force them back or take them down.

Then your partner got ripped up something fierce, and now you're getting smacked around by two... two... mooks! Well fuck this guy, fuck his buddy over there, and fuck this night. You plant your shotgun in the middle of his face and blow his head clean off.

It takes a moment to get your balance back as you peel yourself out of the trees you had your back up against. Rock and Roll help escort you back to base, where Cheshire is waiting. You both head to the temple hangar and are helped out. 511 and 098 both look upset with the damage they have to repair as you are lead off to give your report.

Retter is, thankfully, understanding. You're tired, got the hell knocked out of you, and just want rest. After a quick report, you head to your barracks and collapse into your bed, Melon doing the same.

"That sucked." The mutters, covering her head with her pillow. "Yup." You groan, kicking your boots off. You're asleep as soon as you close your eyes.

Male, and from another race which the Empire looks down on relations with. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm against Alex Hanger doing anything that could damage his career without a very good reason, and fucking his engineer is a damned good way to do it.
>>

You are Salaya Vortez, brown skinned, black haired pilot of Apex, Pilot of First Legion, Second Wing. Born to a long line of infantrymen, all the way back to your great-great-great-great-grandfather, who was a convert from one of the barbarian tribes of the west, your proudest moments include being accepted to the Imperial Pilot Training Academy, graduating, and being placed in THE First Legion. Proving yourself is your goal, and your drive. Proving you are the best of the best has been your motivation for as long as you can remember.

Yesterday you were shipped to THE capital, the Imperial Palace, where Apex was upgraded with silver trimming, and its iron armor polished to a shine you didn't think possible. You were fitted for a all-white uniform, with leather jack-boots that go to your mid-shins, trousers, and a coat that goes down to mid-shin and has a collar that covers your neck. You were paraded infront of the Emperor himself, who spared you a calm nod of respect, and given a huge apartment in the pilot's wing of the Imperial-Freaking-Palace.

Today you are in the field in the name of the Second Wing. Espionage, Counter-Intelligence, and Assassination. Apex is marked with dark grey and black paint to hide you against the cliffs and night sky. You're in the mountain range to the west of the Imperial Palace, investigating rumors of a rebel group. You've found the camp the rumors spoke of. Roughly a hundred men, six tents, horses, supplies, rebel flags (black, with a red circle), and two damn rogue Demi. Both are short, stubby legs, large arms, round bodies, with seven barrelled cannons on their left shoulders. Both marked with the red circle on their right shoulders, black paint jobs. The cockpits are open, the pilots sitting inside, laughing and talking as they watch people dance and talk around the large bonfire in the middle of the camp.

Noone has noticed you. Predator gives +1 to any actions involving stealth, including sneak attacks.

Plan of attack?
>>
>>24039909
Take out both of the pilots quickly and then mop up. Nothing like a blitzkrieg to liven up the night.
>>
>>24039909
>Espionage, Counter-Intelligence, and Assassination

>1 mind.

I seriously doubt the military is incompetent enough to put a retard in that line of work.
>>
>>24039909
Sneak up behind the traitorous pigs and stab the pilots in there exposed cockpits.
>>
>>24039952
I just realized that this is pretty unclear. The plan is to jump off a cliff in front of the first demi and kill its pilot with a strike before they can react and then attempt to kill the other before they can move.
>>
>>24039909
Do we have bombs?

If so, sneak up on em. Then jam a couple bombs in the cockpits and slam them shut.
>>
>>24039963
Actually from the perspective of an intelligence leader the best order is 41235
4s are drummer than you and can be predicted
loyal violent 1s make grate tools
2s are a little unpredictable and dumb but have a lot of use and if they get out of line can be outmaneuvered
3s are a yell of a lot of trouble
5s are potential rivals.

You slink along the cliff. Your legs are digitigrade, allowing you to drop down to all four and still move easily, your profile as low as possible. You move around towards the rear of the camp, behind the two Demi.

You slink along the cliffs and down them, using the low tents as cover. The light of the camp-fire flickers on your black and grey armor between the tents. You're behind the two Demi now, creeping closer. "So did the guys down south come through with the missles?" One asks the other. "Yeah, two of them. Samuel is up on the peak setting them up. We launch them tomorrow." He explains. "We'll finally make them see we're serious." His voice sounds vicious and triumphant.

Well, you can't have that, can you? You slink up, rising to your full height. One hand rests on the back of the Demi, the other reaching around to the cockpit. Your blade-like claws wrap around the pilot and you squeeze. He pops like a gory balloon as your twist, raising your other clawed hand high. The other pilot is desperately tearing at his controls, the Engineer sitting behind him tapping start-up protocols in.

Your blades come down and shred the pilot, the seat, the Engineer, and a good deal of internals. Arrows and spears are dinging off your armor as you turn to the panicing camp. You mop up quickly, shredding the rebels with your scything claws, and turn your attention to the mountain peak the pilot pointed out.

You will need to take out whatever is up there. Or atleast, you think so. You could call it in, or maintain radio silence and just go with your gut.

You go with your gut, heading up the mountain. You slink upwards, stone to stone towards the peak, silent and low. The night is silent, dark, perfect for your work. You eventually come towards the top, where you can spot a Demi. Taller than Apex, it has centaur like body, the legs clawed and agile looking, the upper body thin, with a lance in one hand and a many-barreled gun in the other. Two massive missles are mounted on launchers nearby, aiming in the direction of the Imperial Palace.

You slink, low to the ground, around behind a large outcropping of stone. I need 7 rolls for your STEALTH to try and get in a good pouncing location.

>>
>>24042890
Your weapons have auto-loaders built in. They are technically single-shot, but load fast enough (except for the rifle) that you can fire pretty quickly. The two most common kind of ammo are small metal balls and armor piercing flechetts, though your rifle has an oversized, bullet shaped slug. Most weapons have an attached ammo-bin that you can load easily, but your Demi has to be opened up to switch our the bins. DO you mean classes of Demi or classes of weapons?

>>24043065
The most common ones are usually modified armor, either lightening it or making it heavier. Mobility systems, like boosters on the back and legs, or modified legs for faster running or higher jumps, stuff like that. However, Engineers are like ridiculously skilled, and can manage just about anything.
>>
It might be worth looking to adding mines of some sort to our inventory at some point. Our main issue as a sniper so far seems to be all the melee abominations rushing us before we can get another shot off.

Would Anti-Demi Mines be a possibility, Doctor?
>>
>>24043183
I assume you meant mines for Demi sized enemies, not just Demi. In which case yes, totally possible. Expensive, but possible. Like 3 or 4 XP, I would need to think about it.
>>
>>24043132

I meant Demi classes there, I imagine most Demi weapons fall into over-sized versions of infantry weapons.

>>24043183

Perhaps, but mines would not actually help in most of the fights we have been in thus far, not time or opportunity for set up.

I feel we will truly shine in larger operations. When its just Alex and Melon, attention gets drawn to Imperator very quickly.
>>
>>24043132
>DO you mean classes of Demi or classes of weapons?
both
>>
>>24043233
Yup, Demi sized.

>>24043236
It won't be useful in all missions, admittedly, but any time we have to actually hold a position and snipe, it will be invaluable once we're entrenched.
>>
>>24043275

For the cost, though? We could just upgrade our shotguns for half that.
>>
>>24043292
I didn't intend it to be an acquisition soon, just something to consider for the future. I think further upgrading our radar, vision and stabilization to boost our perception and accuracy is the thing we should focus on next.

We almost died to an ambush, we really need to get better at spotting enemies first.

Indeed. I am still very much for upgrading our accuracy.

Doctor, did we get XP for trying to be a Hero while Melon got away? We did hit them a few times.

Demi have various classes and sub-classes. Command, Ranged, Melee, Support. Imperator is a Ranged, obviously. Apex is a Melee. Twist was, of course, the Support poster boy. Retter and Zagurat both had Command. Command types are basically either Melee, Ranged or Support with a lot of armor upgrades and support upgrades too.

Anti-Infantry Ranged have weapons like Melon's rifle, Anti-Macro Ranged are snipers and such like Imperator. Apex is an Anti-Macro Melee. Anti-Infantry Melee are not common, though they use weapons with long blades for low, wide sweeps. Support only has one type, which is pretty obvious.

Yes. 1XP, as it was, despite the bad rolls and difficulty, just two basic enemies.

Cool.

Is it possible to multi-class? I can see Alex eventually being in the position where a Command class would be of great use, considering how we play him.

I'd imagine getting a Command class is a matter of attaining a position of command, rather than just deciding to multi-class.
>>
>>24043420

Well, I assumed, I was wondering if, were that to occur, would we still also be a Sniper.

>>24043405
Yeah. Command is not fully it's own class so much as an upgrade to Melee, Ranged and Support. Upgrade the armor and the support abilities for directing other units safely.
>>
>>24043448
Oh, most definitely. Like I said, it's just an upgrade to what you have already, not any sort of replacement.

That is similar to what I had in mind, good.

You've done a great job tonight, Doctor, as always. Thanks for the answers. Im off to sleep, I bid all of you gentlemen a fond farewell.

Ave Imperator!

what are the common things command models have "for directing other units safely".

Better radar, jamming, communications hacking, status effects. I'd like to get another level of ranged and perception. Dice are bad enough right now.
