Rolled 3

The diplomats reach the Northern capital, and are given an audience with one who calls himself "King"... and elderly gentlemen, he seems a reasonable fellow, and is willing to open up friendly relations. Do we have any words for him at this most unsteady time?

The Kobold, who is said to have the slickest tongue, takes on the task of convincing the Gnolls to see our point of view. He takes about the mountains of fine wares that they will be able to claw from the dead hands of the Elves. The bloodshed they can commit, and the victories they can win to make true names for themselves! The Chief Shaman seems most swayed by this... some much so in fact that he himself takes up arms to lead his might warriors into battle, for all the loot his people can carry. He musters his finest warrors, and has them meet with his fleets on the South coast of his lands. Those Guys accompany him, for Gnollish boats are the swiftest transport that is known in the world, derived from years of ocean trade.

Our brave fleets launch their assault on the Elven vessels. A fairly calm day on the seas, they are able to surround their ships with ease - but the elves unleash a mighty volley of arrows, scoring many lives of Kobolds. Nevertheless, our brave sailors carry on, managing to board their ships and set them alight. Their navy falls, but one of ours will be useless unless it is repaired. The other two units of Elven watercraft sail onwards towards the carnage.

On load, we find the rabbit cavalry to be most effective against the foul creatures. Armed with copper spears, they slay the elves in droves, taking down one unit of archers single handedly. The second unit fights on, though, managing to survive the initial assault. The battle rages on, though we have sustained few casualties, and are chances look fair.
>>
>>23758199
dig in on land, wait for the gnollish support. pull the navy into cutless cove for safety
>>
>>23758199
this doesnt boad well. The ships will unload elven wariors, I know it. I knew we should have stayed at home, we should have build roads. Now the invasion will commence and we have nothing to defend ourselves.

Muster all forces we have still left in our homeland and give them to the aid of our allys. We shell make a stand until the Gnolls arrive.
>>
>>23758199
The threat is still upon us, but it is fair to say that our troops should be able to hold them off a bit longer, giving us the chance of expanding our realm to the east, giving us more food supplies for further rabbit-cavalary!
>>
>>23758290
also, engage with one of their ships in fight. Halt it from unloading its forces.
>>
>>23758199
rally a militia in Cutlass Cove, sail the two ships back to port

The crew from the derelict ship will be in charge of the defense of Cutlass Cove until reinforcements arrive, in the mean time, they should use the wreckage as a kamikaze burning ram, cover the deck with flammables and prepare to crash it into an elven warship and ignite the both of them, prepare lifeboats to rescue that brave kobold crew

also, find use for the lake boat, either trade or fishing
>>
>>23758302
In my haste of creating the great kobold empire, as it is foretold in the ancient legend of the weird smelling lettuce, that is now almost lost, i oversaw the still existing threat.

Counsillor Meatonstick is right, we have to engage the elven vessel that is closest to our borders before we can create new settlements and strengthen the old ones.
>>
>>23758199
My brothers, a task most excellent lays before us, but there are challenges we are yet to overcome.

Our sailors have fought bravely, but the hour may soon come that they are unable to fight. We should order them travel northeast, to take fellowship with the Knollish warriors and join forces in kind.

Our human allies should be directed to fall back to cutlass cove, that they can provide for its defense in the absence of our navy.

Our study of mathematics must continue, and our next generation of hunters must be trained and raised so that our food stores may increase.

These things being done, we will see ourselves in times of prosperity and glory in the Kobold nation!
>>
>>23758199
I dont know who got the bright idea to make a fleet.

They're bigger than us and can make bigger, sturdier damn ships, and they've got all the fucking advantage with their advanced arrow technology. We're best near land, blessed by the Rabbit Spirit's rabbit legions.

We should prepare a retreat.
We've got ALL disadvantages at sea.

Without big ships and sails we cant even catch BIG winds!
>>
We could be FINE right now! fine, and with a road! But no! NO! You youngsters have to leave our flanks defenseless!
>>
>>23758370
May as well second this, we're outnumbered and we have shittier ships, pull our navies back to Cutlass Cove.
>>
>>23758370
We can still use our remaining forces to delay the enemy before he touches ground, giving us the chance of fortifying the beach, or increasing our numbers on the ground.

May the oddly shaped carrot have mercy on our hats!
>>
>>23758370
Yeah, come to think about it, we cant even make decent rowboats due to our size!

We kinda fucked up on this one.
>>
My fellow council members, today is a most important day for our nation, a day that will be won with the blood and effort of kobolds. I, as do most of you, recall when our council was above this petty squabbling that has overtaken us. The sweat of a kobold's brow does not belong to some strange force of the world like these shrine worshippers are professing. It belongs to HIM! Rabbits will not bring us victory, it will be the kobolds atop them that bring us victory.

Some may think it easy to relinquish control of fate to some arcane force such as the rabbit spirit. But they neglect our most powerful quality, the KOBOLD SPIRIT! Ask not what you can do for the rabbit! Ask what you can do for YOU!

The glory of the kobold kingdom will know no bounds!
>>
>>23758386
>>23758370
Councilmen, be calm. In not two days hence our forces will stand in Yellowbank victorious, and gnollish vessels will gather on the Elven coast intent on pillage and massacre.

A time of trouble has fallen among our sailors, but the elves react in force because we have touched at their weakness. With their navies destroyed at the hands of the knoll their coastal civilization will be at our mercy, and they will quickly fall.
>>
We have massive pop. rally a militia at the port, with the human garrison troops at its head.
>>
>>23758454
Can gnolls even make ships?
Hehe, ye think too highly of them.
Dont they get like negatives to intellect?Small brains and such?
>>
>>23758444
Quiet, Heathen! This talk is what got us INTO this mess! We have to retreat from the elven land and defend our homeland, stabilize and MAKE. ROADS.
>>
>>23758444
KILL THE HERETIC!
HE BLASPHEMES AGAINTS THE RABBIT SPIRIT!
>>
>>23758458
This is a strong course of action, and plays to our strengths. Let us consider this proposal as constructive action in light of our circumstances.

Our skill of trapmaking is unmatched, let us prepared cutlass cove for defense.
>>
>>23758478
Read OP's post.

We need to advance more on land into the elfen territory.
>>
>>23758199
Also, tell the kingdom to the north that we wish for friendly relations, and that the elves in the south are dicks.
>>
>>23758458
ask for the remaining forces of our blue friends!
>>
Move the humans to cutlass cove to stave off the elf invasion.

Have our warriors finish off the other elf archers. Afterwards, send them to help defend our coastline. My instinct is to send half to assault the elf capital while they are weak, but we need to leave some elf left to fight for the gnolls, or else they may be angry with our false promises of battle...

Open friendly relations with the king. Maybe we can build a road for trade when our hands aren't so full.

>>23758290
Attacking was the best thing we could have done, now we don't have to worry about a 2 front invasion. Although if we could have moved the humans earlier like I urged, that would have been nice...
>>
>>23758487
What has the Rabbit Spirit done for us? We have seen it's strength and tried to emulate it and as such, hundred of rabbits now live for us, as food stock, entertianment, and the mounts of our warriors. The Rabbit Spirit is not to be trifled with, but this is not the Rabbit Nation! You would have us shun ourselves to be something we are not.

We are kobolds! Strong and resilient. Crafty and potent. The Rabbit Spirit is our friend, not our leader! WE LEAD OUR OWN.
>>
It seems that there is no opposition to moving the Human spearmen to Cutlass Cove, while raising a militia unit there to set traps. Is this correct? It would consume one action point this turn.
>>
>>23758526
>Attacking was the best thing we could have done, now we don't have to worry about a 2 front invasion. Although if we could have moved the humans earlier like I urged, that would have been nice..

oh yes, now we have a two front war, only that we are out of position and without our trenches and we dont have the time to wait for Gnolls.

Totally beats fighting to fronts while having close proximity to our support lines, a closed front and the ability to wait at least one more turn for Gnolls.
>>
>>23758551
do it
>>
>>23758551
That's good. Use the other to continue the attack on land.
>>
>>23758551
yeah.
>>
>>23758444
Blasphemy! Heresy! This is Fox-tongue! It is foretold that a great evil will come in a scaly one - You know nothing of the reality and nature of this world, this great world is the work of The Great Fluffy one - We are His chosen ones, and His creatures were made for us! We must honour the pact we have made with him at the beginning of time - then the Prophecy of the Oddly-shaped Carrot will be fulfilled.

May the Ground swallow you and no carrot taste sweet to you again.
>>
>>23758551
I agree with this cause of action.

I also would suggest that we fortify the beach, and IMMEDIATELY aferwards, increase our infrastructure
>>
>>23758551
That would be my urging, most certainly.
>>
Things I think we can agree on:
Research Mathmatics

Send troops back to Cutlass Cove from front once the current battle is done. We wont be able to send the gnolls home without their bloodlust sated, better the elves than us.

Open friendly relations with Northmen. Talk of trade in the future.

>>23758551
Agreed
>>
>>23758569
The elves were attacking anyway. At least now we took out one third of their navy, and the troops they were ferrying.
>>
>>23758627
yeah, we could have done this while staying where we could meet the rest they would dispatch too, all the while having fortifications at our backs against an invasion to land!
>>
>>23758569
You're a fool. Now the elves have no army to invade us with. If we had waited like you wanted, our troops would sit there paralyzed on the border, and we would have frittered away the advantage of our tunnels. Now we can retreat and mount a real defense. It is in fact only a 1 front war now, the elves are finished on land with the gnolls coming in.
>>
>>23758544
This is not the time for Theology or Carrotology, nor is it the time for questioning the Holy Symbiosis of Kobald and Rabbit.
We will discuss the possibility of a Kobold deity after this war - for now I will just like to say; look what straying from the way of the Carrot and Rabbit have brought us! We are not meant for water, nor is any rodent
>>
>>23758594
That is, only in case of a victory, on which i have absolutely no doubts
>>
>>23758651
Our fortifications yet stand, and have not sustained attack. Our traps remain set, fresh and ready should they be called upon to serve in the defense of Koboldkind from future Elf incursions.

Should the elves respond with greater numbers our forces may still withdraw to our keep and repel them with impunity, yet with the ingenuity of the rabbit we turned the very ground on which the elves stood against them.

This victory on the land was the gift of the rabbit to the kobold people, and has prepared us for further combat in the advance of our goals.
>>
>>23758606
If this course of action, combined with the above militia raising pleases the council, then I shall enact it.

You don't need to expend any action points to research once a project is started, it becomes a latent thing
>>
>>23758667
You speak like a true youngling. We still could have fallen into their backs with our tunnels. We wouldnt have sat there paralyzed, we would have crushed the invaders, all the while being able to respond to the attack from the water.

And I am also impressed by your ability to see the elven forces that we havent scouted yet, so you can judge their prowess against us and the Gnolls.

Retreat I say, retreat.

The counsil will have to excuse me now, I shell travel to Cutless Cove and see if I can come in time to aid them at the defense.

Farewell, council
>>
>>23758693
I do.
It would dumb of the elves to simply land and attempt to take the city.

They've got ships. They could effectively cut us off from a crucial food source, prevent us from making ships, and set fire to the city from a few arrow volleys from their ships as our human spearmen burn to the ground.

They dont NEED to take Cutlass Cove.

They can burn it down, safely AND win.
>>
>>23758748
Which is why I said we have all the disadvantages at sea.If they have ANY intellect, we've lost the Cove.

We can only pray to Rabbit Spirit that they're retarded.
>>
>>23758679
We are losing on the water because we tried to build ships, like the filthy elves. We do not win by painting broad targets for our enemies to hit! Nay, kobolds gain their strength through cunning and deviousness. Pray tell, what is more vicious, stealthy and cunning than boarding enemy ships unawares, and thus nullifying their archery advantage? Water rabbits would have gotten us out of this mess, and you blind fools on the council need to shut the fuck up about this made up kobold/rabbit aquaphobia.
>>
>>23758748
Our survival is not dependent on the utility of cutlass cove, its purpose is and always was to draw out the elven menace, a task it has accomplished well.

We may grow fat of our hunts and our fields, while the Elves take ships from their fisheries that they may fight.

Even in naval loss, the victory is to be ours.
>>
>>23758744
I shall join this noble kobold, and rally any who would join us in the defense of Cutlass Cove
>>
>>23758796
yeah, but just setting fire to a town while losing your whole country is very intelligent. You guys and your melodrama when it comes to strategy
>>
>>23758748
So be it.
Let us train another army.
(I am farily sure it will be sufficient if we post a according note on the pub. Those who can read are too valuable to be in the army, everybody else is in.)
And deal with the threat that lies before us.
>>
people, remember to keep something to loot for the Gnolls. They will turn on us if they dont have anything
>>
>>23758796
We still need to retreat our forces to stop them from pillaging our countryside. As it stands, there's nothing stopping them from unloading 2 armies, overwhelming the humans, and then marching up to koboldbridge university to burn it down too.
>>
>>23758817
You're implying that they arent countering our ruse with a ruse of their own.

They're elves.
They've got getter spies, better eyes, hearing, better scouts.

I expect fully a legion awaiting our attack.
>>
>>23758851
We are not feeble creatures of the waters, we are kobolds of the land! Any elves believing they may travel through our territories unmolested will find traps and tactics the likes of which will eradicate their number.

The tentative naval advantage of our enemy is not our primary concern, instead we must be sure to keep our kingdom in order that we have much food in trade with kingdoms in the north and east.
>>
Enough with the RPing. You're just going to make the thread autosage faster.
>>
I see that grat discord is among us, fellow counsilmen.
Let us soon decide our next moves.
I pledge for the building of a fortress in cutlass cove, while our Gnoll-friends engage the landing Elves on the beach.
>>
>>23758832
We are low on food already. We can't afford another army. In fact, increasing our food supply should be priority number 1 after this war, or even during if we have a spare action.

>>23758857
This seems unlikely. They can't have much land strength left. They just lost 1 army, are in the process of losing another, and may have some aboard the ships. They've also invested a lot in their navy, making a strong army less possible. Not to mention elves aren't known for their fecundity.

>>23758843
Agreed. Don't march on elf capital, let the gnolls get their and get their teeth red first.

>>23758744
There was absolutely no reason to believe the elves were going to attack us on land. Our forces would have just sat there, useless under your advice.
>>
>>23758801
ENOUGH WITH THIS TREACHERY!
There is no such thing as water-rabbits, and i will not put up with such a mischief in our very midst
>>
>>23758926
No, we do not want the gnolls to assist in the defense. Why do you want warmongering, potentially hostile raiders in our territory? They can fight the ships at sea, and raid the elves' homeland, but do not let them land on our soil.

>>23758906
Okay, sure, let them just rape and burn our civilian population. It's not like our armies are doing something else once they are done with the battle. Better safe than sorry. I agree wholeheartedly with infrastructure investment, but only once we can afford to do so.
>>
>>23758924
You're right.
It's not like we can make another, or more.
Fuck, man.
These limits.
Slowing Koboldkind down.
>>
>>23758973
not him, but I can't understand how you feel the great rabbit would be pleased with the kobalds self handicapping themselves. Water rabbits are useful, lets use them.
>>
>>23759027
you can't sit on a bayonet

We need to march WITH our allies on the elven homeland after crushing them at sea, thus securing ourselves safe farm land for our growing population
>>
>>23759080
The gnolls came for a good fight and slaughter. They'd be pissed if we take too many kills from them.
>>
>>23759080
That's fine, but we do need to concentrate on making sure our homelands are safe first. If we just go marching out to the elf capital now: 1) Our lands/university may be forfeit, if the elves have a strong enough landing force 2) The gnolls may turn on us to sate their bloodlust.

I'm saying that we defend now, let the gnolls take on the elf fleet, then join the gnolls on the attack once our territory is safe.
>>
>>23759052
Taboos exist, not to be questioned, but to be followed
>>
Also - what if there isn't a landing force?
>>
>>23759080
Although I agree with your statement of not letting our allies fight our wars for us, but i have to point out that there is a lot of "living-space" in the east unconquered already.
And there are not really forests or anything there so it's not like we would have to commit a genocide on the animals there in order to build villages and farm-land
>>
>>23759112
The stout human spearmen and trapmaking kobold militia will more than suffice in the defense of our territories until knoll forces arrive to lend further strength.

Limiting our aggression when so close to our objective could only lead us to further risk in the long term, possibly allowing a reinforced elf nation to redouble their efforts against us.
>>
Brothers, we should not be so hasty to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I am not being unreasonable when I say that the Gnolls are an untested ally in both might and loyalty. Best let them fight the elves at sea.
If the elves make to take Cutlass Cove instead of fighting, they are positioned between our majority force, and the gnolls at sea. Any fight there will surely go in our favor. After which, we will have plenty of time to march down on their capital.
>>
>>23759134
That's why I said, it could be just a ruse.

A counter force to divide our forces.

They dont HAVE to take over Cutlass Cove.
Just burn it down to the ground.
>>
>>23759114
Listen to the High Priest, for he speaks the word of the oddly shaped Carrot, the word of truth!
It is no use trying to achieve things that must not be.
>>
>>23759167
If we are successful in the attack, we have effectively invited the gnolls to invade us. If we fail, then we have thrown away our armies into a trap.

How do you know the humans and the militia will be enough? I also STRONGLY opposed letting the gnolls land on our territory. Don't let the bloodthirsty brutes on our soil, direct them at the elvish ships and capital.

It's not like the elves will be able to raise an army to stand against ours + the gnolls, even if we wait a turn or two to defend our house.

>>23759114
A taboo only 2 of you invented for no damn reason other than to kill a cool idea
>>
Okay, seriously, we all agree on raising a militia and waiting for the gnolls while our forces finish off the elven forces and retreat

any excess moves should be on supplying Cutlass Cove with roads and food
>>
>>23759271
agreed.
>>
>>23759258
However 'cool' you may find the idea, it was always a better idea to focus on building up land forces and infrastructure - thus is our ways, as have been showed in the carrot
>>
>>23759208
Keep in mind that our forces are still embroiled in battle. Once the battle finishes, we will have a better idea if they are needed at Cutlass Cove. We can move some of them to the fortifications to stop an elf land invasion, and some of them to Cutlass Cove to defend against a potential land invasion. Marching around will take time, and we can refine their orders as battlefield conditions become clearer.
>>
>>23759321
maybe you should lift your head from that phallic for a bit and realize that we are on the brink of losing a war
>>
>>23759271
agreed, but my prayers go to The Great Fluffy One, that the Gnolls and Elves will fight for control of the seas - thus exhausting themselves, giving us more room to manoeuvre
>>
>>23759271
Agreed as well

>>23759321
I never said to make naval forces instead of land forces and infrastructure, it was a long term plan.
>>
>>23759271
Efforts shall be placed in constructing roads towards the Cove, and supplying the units there.

Will update shortly.
>>
>>23759368
We will discuss this later, when the peace have been restored and the elves driven from our rightful lands
>>
>>23759345
Agreed as well. Security of the realm should be our highest priority at the moment.
>>
>>23759271
I agree with everything, except making roads to the Cove right now. Assuming they get made, aren't we just making it easier for potential elfish raiders to get from the cove to university? After the war, definitely, roads everywhere.
>>
>>23759423

Indeed. It would be folly to lay out a welcome mat for the elves to the bulk of our civilization.

The King seems open to the thought of trade. However, he is less pleased when he learns that you are currently at war... Though he wishes no ill, he would rather not play host to your diplomats whilst you are engaged in a conflict he does not know. He wishes for you to return once you are victorious. With the messengers not being heroes, they have no opportunity to change his mind.

There is a breakthrough at the university, with the study of mathematics going into overdrive - soon the research shall be complete.

Our food stockpiles are nearly empty, our people are facing starvation. This cannot be good for the war effort...

The sailors try their hardest, but unfortunately the damaged vessels are lost, along with much Kobold life. The remaining vessel routes itself back to Cutlass Cove, where it awaits further orders.

Construction starts on a road towards the cove. Our remaining food supplies, and timber is sent ahead to the Cove to expadite trap construction there, and digging in of the troops stationed there.

We raise one unit of archers in the Cove, and they begin setting traps and the like. Unfortunately, they are disturbed in this process by the Elven landing parties taking to the shore from their ships. Two units of elven archers are now set up along the beaches.

We decimate the remaining archer unit within the Elven lands, and our forces return through the tunnels, heading towards the Cove, and the Beaches. The rabbit riders lead the way with their increased mobility, but our forces are most tired. They too await your command.

Gnoll ships arrive in the bay from the East, carrying two units of strong Gnoll warriors, the might Chief Jardan, and Those Guys. They are within range of a strike on the Elven capital, or they can land on our own beaches to assist with the defence. They await your command, but Those Guys fear if they do not get a decision soon, they will make it for themselves...
>>
If we defeat the land units, then we can take the ships and re-purpose them for our own use!
>>
Gnolls should strike the capital.
We should send two of our archers to help the cove while the third and the scouts head to the capital. Our navy should harry the enemy navies
>>
>>23759476
Have the two archer units return and help defend Cutlass Cove, while the rabbit riders ride forward to the elven capital.

Gnolls are to raid the capital, but Those Guys are to capture all elven leaders and scientists and keep them alive, we can probably get some information from them.
>>
>>23759476

Flank the elves and cut off their ability to retreat.

Let everyone else rest up and have the gnolls lead the charge and Those Guys engage first. They are fresh and this will be chance to see what our allies are made of.

Once our forces have had some rest, they can join the battle from the other side.

If we have any remaining resources on the home front, food must be the priority there.
>>
>>23759476
We are facing two problems with the gnolls.
1) can we trust them to land in our own land
2) can we manage to hold the invaders of ourselves?

there are a number of possibilitis:
1) we allow them in our midst - everything is fine
2) we allow them in our midst, they go on a fucking rampage
3) they go fight the elves - we can't do it - we have a useless allied army there
3) they go fight the elves - elves are scared and send their troops back for assist

These are just a number of possibilities i can think of and i hope the high counsil takes every aspect in thought, although i understand that time is of the essence
>>
>>23759556
Oh, and have attempt to contact our human allies requesting food, and maybe have the navy on the lake do some fishing or something.
>>
Who are *Those guys* again?
>>
>>23759476
Buy some grain off the King using our huge copper stockpile.
>>
>>23759587
our strongest army
>>
>>23759593
I second this notion
>>
>>23759593
Wait shit, didn't read the whole post. Make the same offer to some other neighbor instead.

>>23759587
They're our diplomats/hero units.
>>
>>23759476
gnolls storm capital, the moment we drive these elves off we go full on farm krieg.
>>
>>23759587
Our group of heroes. "Those Guys" is short for "Those Guys Who Met Drinking".
>>
Those Guys note that the Gnoll ships, and their stores at home, bulge with hunted meat. They may be willing to trade for precious copper...
>>
>>23759609
King is open for trade, he just doesn't wish to be our ally at the moment, however, i think the realm to the east has got more food supplies, and better infrastructure to provide the food sooner
>>
>>23759593
I second this.Try to send a VERY skilled , preferably favored Trader with the King so we dont get screwed, if necessary, divert him off other tasks. We need food.

>>23759556
I second this, and Keep everyone tasked to ensure they get lots of plunder for ourselves. The gnolls arent to be trusted.

We've lost a lot in this war, make sure they recover lots of goods and cargo.

Divert bunny legions to recover goods and cargo.
>>
>>23759645

I am... wary to give means for building weapons to a kingdom which we do not fully trust. If we must trade with the gnolls, so be it, but we should exhaust other possibilities first.
>>
>>23759645
Dammit! We didn't want to give them copper in case they ever turned on us. But I guess now we are going to have to if we want to survive. We're going to have to research better weapons after this to stay a couple steps ahead of them.

OH, belay what I said here >>23759662
change it to that.

Salt it, prepare it for long term rationing.
Soup for everyone.
>>
>>23759569
I think that we are unlikely to outright lose the defense of our lands, with an even trade at worst. Inviting the gnolls in is courting disaster. Send them to smash the elvish navy, then land and sack the elf capital.

Buying some grain sounds good, but buying it from our human allies sounds likelier to work than with the Northmen. One of our action points for either this turn or next should be spent working on our food infrastructure. Making a road to west loning might be the best way, as the agriculture there never took off because of a lack of supplies.
>>
>>23759683
Sup Navy bro.

I think we should go full on WWII germany, and rush the enemy, and take their food back to our people asap.
>>
>>23759645

Those Guys better be taking stock of the Gnoll technologies. If they should turn on us, I want to know exactly what they're capable of, at the very least. Even better if we can reverse engineer some of their tech for increased sea power.
>>
I dont trust the Gnolls, to be honest.
They'll probably be looting the best Elven Iron Weapons, and since our forces are weakened, we cant leverage getting a fair share of plunder.

We're not gonna get a fair exchange here.
>>
It is clear what we must do. The archers and rabbit cavalry must return to aid in the defense of cutlass cove, and once victorious partake in food and rest.

The Knolls must be directed forward to the enemy capital to begin the siege, with Those Guys present to oversee the battle and commence taking prisoners.

When our understanding of mathematics is complete we must set our new knowledge to increasing hunting and farming yields as well as better rationing our food so that it may last us longer.

Our victory will be hollow if we are left flat-footed in the face of famine.

Onward to victory!
>>
Shall I attempt to requisition food from our Allies in the East, or from the Gnolls? Each will cost an action point.

We can defend our home soil for free with our archers, and allied spearmen, which seems to be in consensus.

However, assaulting the elven capital with our rabbit cavalry will again cost an action point.

Is this what you want done, or have you different plans in mind?
>>
>>23759783
Full out attack on capital, next turn send stolen food back.
>>
>>23759739
I agree with all this, but I think that

1) The gnolls should kill the elf navy first on their way. This might also buy us some time to let our units join in on the plunder
2) We should buy some grain from our human allies to alleviate the food situation in the meantime.
>>
>>23759783

If we can get food from our allies in the east, let us do that.

I don't want our rabbit cavalry to go in alone, especially when they've been fighting so much lately. Let us deal with the imminent elves near the cove first. When their power at sea is gone, we can turn our entire force on the homeland.
>>
>>23759783
We should barter from our human allies for food.

Our rabbit cavalry should join our archers and spearmen in defense, they have been proven and in combat and will need the rest and healing to be strong should the knolls become a threat.

We should spend a point to build updated food storage infrastructure with our knowledge of mathematics, so that traded and cultivated food can be kept, rationed, and monitored easily.
>>
>>23759783
Gnolls can be fucked over with our knowledge of mathematics to maximise our profits.

Seriously, it's time to utilize at least the beta knowledge, and send our best trader, preferably someone who already has traded with them- Gnolls seem clannish, best to use someone they're familiar with. Train him in math basics for a week.

>>23759783
Defend the homeland.Push the elves back to see, loot the weapons.Elven iron, man.

IMPORTANT:
SEND SAMPLE OF ELVEN IRON WORK TO UNIVERSITY FOR LATER IRON RESEARCH.
>>
The mercenaries shall assault the elven capital, while the rest of our forces go to defense of the cove. Is this agreed upon by the council?
>>
>>23759850

>>
>>23759942
yes.
>>
>>23759942
Make sure Those Guys capture the elven scientists and examples of elven technology, but other than that, it sounds good.

So it shall be done, alongside requesting aid from our allies.

Our allies in the East give us what they can, while taking nothing from us. They hope this gracious act illustrates the friendship they wish to build with us. The single unit of wheat saves us from going into starvation this turn, but it is quickly used up. Our ally's food stockpiles are slim, and there is next to no chance of receiving any more from them.

The University has completed it works on mathematics, and publishes a manual of numerical-science. This opens up many avenues for more advanced research, and has piqued interest in knowledge amongst our people. One particular scholar has developed a very fey mood, and has locked himself in his chambers with a mountain of parchment, and begins requesting all kinds of things... we have no idea what he might be planning, but if we spend some of our nation's action on supplying him with what he needs, we might perhaps gain some very valuable knowledge.

The defense of our coasts has thusfar gone poorly. Though we outnumber the elves, we have as yet been unable to repulse their forces. Their archers are supported by their navies, who rain arrows upon us from their positions at sea. The Eastern battle has seen our human allies fall, but the elves are being worn down, and we can expect victory soon. In the West, however, our arrows rarely find a true path, and our tired Cavalry has proven ineffective. We can only take solace in the fact that the elves have gained no ground, still stuck on the beach where they landed.

One of the elven navies assaulted our own, and look to be soundly defeating it, though at least it's keeping their navy out of the assault on Cutlass Cove, for now. Shall I order a retreat or surrender?
>>
The Gnoll forces land at the Elven capital, facing no garrison whatsoever. The Chief leads the assault, and such a blood rage terrifies the very soul of the Smartest Kobold. He slaughters all in his path, and directs his warriors to sack and pillage the Elven capital - a feat he is most successful in doing. A smouldering ruin is left behind, and his warriors load all valuables back into their Ships.
>>
>>23760248
Entice the gnolls to continue forging inland while their navy returns home. Pull our calvary back, have infantry dig in out of navies range.
>>
>>23760228
Tell the university that now that they have their precious mathematics, perhaps they could be so inclined as to using their newfound knowledge to STOP THE FAMINE WE'RE ABOUT TO GO INTO. Drop all other studies and start looking for means to increase our agricultural production or our hunting.
>>
One action NEEDS to be spent setting up food infrastructure so we don't starve.

For the war, the elves have been dealt a major infrastructure setback. If we can strike some sort of peace now, we come out far ahead. Alternatively, we can ask the gnolls to assault the elf ships, retreat our own navy, and hope for the best in the land battles.
>>
>>23760376
>One action NEEDS to be spent setting up food infrastructure so we don't starve.
This. We must ensure our people can survive this war.

>If we can strike some sort of peace now, we come out far ahead.
Agreed. Perhaps we could combine this with psychological warfare against the Elven troops on the beaches.
>>
>>23760325
I agree with this for the military aspect. No need to defend Cutlass Cove, we can sack it and be fine. It's defending our inland that's important, and we appear to be slowly losing that battle in the West.
>>
Not only have we sustained heavy casualties against enemies that are much well rested than us, the elves at the coast are still not dealt with.

In our haste to defeat the elves, we gave the bloody Gnolls all the spoils of victory while requiring none of the troubles from the battle. We should have had THEM fight the elves and moved on the capital together.

We must defend and replenish our food stores. The bloodlust of some on this council has caused far too many good kobolds to die, while allowing the spoils which we should have gained to be taken by Gnolls.
>>
>>23760376

If you think they're going to have any peace with the people who just led a group of viking gnolls to destroy their capital, you're in for a rude awakening.

As for the gnolls themselves, they were in this for plunder from the beginning, and they have it. I'd be surprised if they had any remaining interest in this war.
>>
It is now that we must be at our most cautious. Our enemy lies defeated, but the elvish armies remain. The wise rabbit knows that the dead snake's head may still bite, and we would be wise to take this lesson to heart.

We must reinforce our studies on logistics, that efficient use and cultivation of our food resources may save us from starvation.

We must ask that the gnolls set their path to cutlass cove in aid of the naval and land battles there. After the death throes of the elven kingdom are squelched, we will hold a banquet for our friends in the city.

It would be wise, I think, to intend to have a sizable force of our own in attendance then.
>>
>>23760357
Well, with mathematics, we can begin using account-keeping, accounting, records, and more importantly, it opens distribution, planning and a lot of stuff simply by having it.

Writing+Mathematics= FUCKING SORCERY for a Civilization, dude.

But you're right, it's time to develop the CALENDAR and CROP ROTATION with our new Math+Writing.
>>
>>23760475

>>
>>23760459
>>23760462
The gnolls must now be the primary focus of our interests. We must have some way to continue to influence and entice them, so that we may still benefit from their military strength and prevent them becoming a hazard to our own lands.

The possibility of trade in metals should be all the lure needed to bring them to cutlass cove for battle with the elves, and in the time of their fighting our new breakthroughs should help us recover and raise forces which will allow us mutual security against our new "friends".
>>
>>23760548
Dude, the University's purpose is to research. We were doing GREAT when we began researching Mathematics.

But SOMEguys here were all like ELVES MUST BE CRUSHED. Now were' all pool, and you're blaming the scientist kobolds.

>>23760475
The studies of the university will be our savior in these hard times. With little ability to otherwise increase our capacity to feed ourselves and armies the ability of the learned to organize and enhance our efforts will prove itself to save or doom us.

Now we must let them do their work, and focus ourselves on preparing for the future. Once the gnolls have been fully utilized and sent packing we will find them a present threat on this continent.

It will be in our interest in the future to strengthen together the three cities into a trimurvate of kingdoms for mutual security, and to build an impressive stone keep on the mountains between Winterbury, Yormire, and Highburg to serve as the seat of our alliance.

All of these things, in time. Now we must have our actions focused on the present, even with our minds focused on the future.
>>
>>23760593
Dude, they were going to attack us.
We must defend ourselves, else we be destroyed.
>>
>>23760563

There is no other alternative, then. If we convince them to destroy the elven armies we're engaged with, we promise them a trade in copper for their food stores.

And may the Grand Cosmic Sky Bunny have mercy on us for our fecklessness if they should seek to strike in our moment of weakness.

>>23760593
Oh, yes. Blame the Thumping One for spending all our time researching Mathematics. Blame He of Leaps and Bounds for all those "worthless" armies we made in preparation for the inevitable fight we had incoming with the elves, who were advancing on our borders and refusing our offers of peace and trade.

May the DevilFox tear out your organs, you heathenous whelp. We reacted as so because our enemies are not so willing to "give peace a chance" while we all go in search of loftier understandings.
>>

>>
>>23760593
It is religion that has brought us to this point of peril! The High Priest is continually sabotaging our attempts to create a stronger military with his preachings. The running of our society by shamans and the influence over our war effort must be abolished. Do you want our great civilisation to endure, elders? Because if you do you must keep religion at arms length. You must not allow your hearts to rule your heads.
I have fought at the front, and I believe we will win this war, but our rations are growing smaller by the day. You must rectify this.
>>
We need to fall back and recover. We've lost our one and only advantage by letting them stop our advance.

Unfortunately there is no more opportunity to fall back, lest those sacrifices made by our warriors be in vain as our capital city is razed. It is our foremost task to set to work our scholars in addressing our food shortage, and in equipping our diplomats to best capitalize on the gnoll forces among us.

With our best efforts, and perhaps some luck, this war will have won us the influence and power necessary to instate the first continental empire in alliance of nations, securing peace and prosperity for all Koboldkind.

>>23760940
But we must win the war first. The council must concentrate on the task at hand rather than speculate on vast empires when we can barely feed our own small holdings.

I would suggest establishing more farmland to the northeast, while concentrating on holding the enemy in the south, whittling away their forces. We are in home soil, we can replenish our losses, they are far from aid in a foreign land. We can starve them into submission, attrite them into defeat.

>>
>>23760376

>>23761085
We shall spend one action creating new farming infrastructure and lands.
>>
>>23761085
It is true that we may raise more crops, and men, but without relief at the hands of the gnolls the men currently in combat will face dire losses.

The issues as they stand, then, are how do we deal with two problems. Our first is providing for our food needs, and the second arranging for final military success.

It would seem these are our options for the first:

1) Plant more fields

2) Try to increase yields and reduce needs with learning

And for the second:

1) Motivate the gnolls to assist our military

2) Direct our military to hold and try to rush reinforcements

I am for any of these options the council can support.
>>
>>23761156
I would recommend we spend the other on some infrastructure project or in replenishing the army's losses. Maybe even use it to make two farms. Our soldiers don't need the direct oversight of the council at this point.
>>
>>23761202
I'm all for gnoll motivation. Tell them that if they assist us with defeating the elven armies we're fighting, we'd be willing to open up trade with them- our copper for their food stores.
>>
>>23761202
The issue with that, my lord, is that I do not trust our gnoll "allies". They are fighting for loot, what is to stop them making off with all the wealth of cutlass cove?
>>
>>23761296
How about the two other armies ALSO fighting for the wealth of Cutlass Cove? And if they are truly against us, well, they're just as likely to turn on us if we ignore them as they are if we extend an olive branch... with a piece of copper as bait dangling from it.

The latter at least gives us a minor chance to pacify and satiate them; the former just waits for the inevitable.
>>
>>23761296
Should we choose to petition for their aid only the promise of future trade, and our ability to raise forces of our own, may dissuade them from treachery.

By petitioning the gnolls we may rescue our forces currently in conflict, and buy ourselves more time that we may use to raise larger forces in our central cities to stave off a possible gnoll invasion.

The question we must ask ourselves is this: Do we allow Kobolds to bear the brunt of this conflict on their own shoulders every step of the way, or do we grant our soldiers some temporary relief, that their strength may be needed soon even to fend off their would-be rescuers?
>>
>>23761203
I think what >>23760325 said makes sense. The gnolls might still fight the navy for us, they are after all bloodthirsty shamanistic warriors, and might like the fight well enough. They haven't really seen any blood yet. In any event, retreating our Western forces out of ship range seems prudent.

I don't think we need to trade the gnolls for food, we already are investing in food infrastructure, so our food issue should be resolved. I would rather try the Northmen again.
>>
>>23761386
>>23761469

The Gnolls have had all the benefits with none of our hardships in this war, I agree. Our forces should fall back, and emplore the Gnolls to fight the remaining elves.

Worst comes to worst, we lose Cutlass Cove and have to rebuild. At this point, that's a sacrifice I'm more willing to take than the lives of more brave kobolds. Also, if the Gnolls are as bloodthursty as some believe, we are well to learn that at a time and place of our choosing, rather than being caught in an attack for which we are not prepared.
>>
>>23761469
>>23760831
Are people in favour of falling back and establishing new lines of defense, away from the Elven naval support, while the Gnolls forge onwards?
>>
>>23761589
Yes. Let them fall back to the mouth of the road, where they may receive aid, rations, and future reinforcements by convoy. Our veterans are a valuable resource, and it is our duty to help ensure their survival.
>>
So it shall be.

One point will be spent improving infrastructure and farms in the North, while the other spent redeploying our forces.

Do we wish to redeploy those defending Cutlass Cove itself? And do we wish to retreat with our navy?
>>
>>23761589

Implore the Gnolls to fight at Cutlass Cove. Either they raid the elven countryland and demoralize our foe while we starve them out or they come to battle, finish off the elves and we can make the best of this situation.
>>
>>23761683
We should direct our navy to pick up "Those Guys" and set sail for the eastern kingdom of men. Soon they will be needed there to solidify an even tighter bond between our peoples.

The troops defending cutlass cove should be on the cusp of victory, with the invaders having been less than half their number. If they are not soon to overcome the invaders then they must join with all forces concentrating on the mouth of the road. The loss of the port would be a setback, but is a lesser consideration than the lives of the men who would be saved.
>>
I am getting 503 errors out the ass, and it's pretty darn late now, so I'm going to call it a night. I'm off again tomorrow, so I'll run it some more then. (BONUS: I just programmed seasons in. Nothing all too functional, just a little icon to keep track of it.)
>>
>>23761683
I want the gnolls specifically to be fighting the navy, not landing. Without naval support, we should be able to defeat the landed elves. Retreat out of naval bombard range is good in the meantime. The navy should head towards the gnoll navy, the only safe spot for it right now.

We probably shouldn't abandon the defense of the Cove, as we were winning that fight.

Our forays into establish more farmlands goes well, assisted in part by the fine spring weather. There is now more wheat being grown around our capital, a new road to West Loning, and the fields there growing in both quantity and fertility. We can now just about support our population, but the stockpiles are nigh empty, and no surplus is being built up.

Our navy attempts to retreat from combat - in whatever direction is possible. They are, unfortunately, assailed by the filthy Elf menace before they can do so. The Elven vessels then turn to their accompanying fleet, rejoining them at our coastline.

Those Guys attempt to direct the Gnollish navies towards the Elven craft, but their pleading falls on deaf ears, as the Gnolls ignore them and forge forward towards more loot, more blood, and greater glory. They halt outside of the Elves second settlement, which is defended by a single unit of spearmen. They will assault next turn, unless by some miracle Those Guys convince them otherwise - if that is what the Council wishes, of course.

In our home lands, the battle of Cutlass Cove is finished, with our human allies sending reinforcement, surrounding the now tired elven archers and destroying them. There are few spoils, but who shall be given the scavenged copper weapons?

To the West, the elven archers hold fast. They seem to be regrouping... Fortunately, they seem to be the last ground units our elven foes have deployed nearby. Likewise, our own units regroup at the edge of the forest.

Now including seasons, and actual fog of war! My god that was more complex than you'd imagine.
>>
>>23768769
Also, I won't be updating all too actively until later on

Polite sage for doublepost.
>>
>>23768769
The loss of our brave navy shall be mourned, their sacrifice will be remembered for years to come.

The actions of the Gnolls seem to be beyond our control, but perhaps these events are in our best interests. As they move farther to the west we gain more time to prepare ourselves against the possibility of additional hostilities.

Our human allies fight valiantly and with skill, let them take up the Elven arms that they may reap the benefits of victory, and be rewarded in their loyalty.

Our forces must invest their efforts in restoring themselves to combat readiness. We will not be able to raise additional forces for some time, so we must field all available forces in combat against the enemy as soon as they are readied for battle.

Kobolbridge must invest all study in improving the logistics of our good system, without the ability to provide for our population we will not be able to support the additional armies we may soon need as well.
>>
>>23768769
Having gazed a long time on the oddly-shaped carrot, I have learned much of what must come next.
Let the Gnolls deal with the elves, hopefully, they will engage the navies on the way home. Then we must settle the elven lands, and expand to the east - and let the humans take the spoils of war, they have fought with much bravery.

I also agrees with this >>23769017 elders course of action.
>>
>>23769017
>>23769115
I agree.

I have a feeling the other nations are not going to look kindly upon us after this war for inviting the gnolls to raze the elf lands. Perhaps we should be somber in our victory. Something to look out for.

Additionally, we should have a ceremony to honor the human allies after the war is over to strengthen our alliance. We should give them gifts of some sort as well, perhaps some iron once that gets going?
>>
>>23769216
What is more, it is in our interest to further reinforce our alliance with the humans of the east. When the war is concluded I propose we establish the Two Nations Military Academy, where the veterans of the Elf War of the South may meet together in study and fellowship. This establishment will allow the peoples of our nations to train together in military service, and may provide for our allies a symbol of our gratitude for their loyalty and selfless contributions to our defense.
>>
>>23768769
I have returned from the bloody battle for the cove, mostly unwounded. I have seen their navy raining down storms of arrows on our men, and I do not know what we can do to stop them, although catapults are an option worth thinking about.

The heathens, the younglings, those, who oppose the teaching of the Fluffy One, He who dwells beyond and who has sent his word through the oddly shaped carrot, they are at fault here! They are the reason why our battles went less decisively than it should have!
>>

>>
>>23771844
Your faithfulness to the Kobold Council is admirable, and reflects good credit on us all.
>>
>>23768769
Tell the elves that they fought well, but the war is lost. They now face but a single choice, surrender to us and become our slaves, or flee to their ships and die at sea,

Their weapons shall be given to our human allies

We must establish more farms wherever we can, perhaps east of Iron Shard

The war is won brethren!
>>
>>23772206
It is the way of the Kobold that we shall suffer no Elf to live. We can neither offer quarter or accept surrender from such lowly creatures, as it would compromise our values at their core.
>>
>>23772235
Death is too sweet for them. let them wallow in their shortcomings lest they be reborn as something not so vile
>>
I believe our archjers should be able to take down their ships once their land units are dealt with. In the meantime however we should devote some more time developing IronShard with farms and mines. Wehs ould also see about claiming the towns that the Gnolls have razed.
>>
>>23772206
Some of your ideas are agreeable, others go against the old ways.

For example east of Iron Shard is the perfect area to expand and put down farms.

But to make slaves of filthy elves is not the way of the Kobold. You may think this more cruel, but we do not seek to be cruel, we seek to extinguish the elven desease from this world. We will not suffer one elf to live.
>>
>>23772398
This Kobold speaks rightly, Elder Rann. Well meaning as your suggestions may be, they are not in line with the philosophy of our race.

Let us raise farms near Ironshard, and grant the boon of captured weapons to our human allies. While losses may come in combat with the elves, those kobolds in arms will be forged the harder in the crucible of righteous battle.
>>
>>23772398
Think to the future council members. If we were to eradicate the elves here and now, a dozen generations from now and they would be nothing more than tales to scare our clutchlings. And they would grow up thinking some other threat to be the worst disease on our beautiful land. Then they too shall wage genocide on them and remove them from the world as we removed the elves. And so it shall repeat. Where will it end? When kobolds are the only sapient species left? When there is but one kobold left standing in the world?

We must preserve a token amount of the elves to set a standard of living history that will not be forgotten, lest we wander to madness and destruction.

As soon as our armies advance upon the cowardly Elves, they turn tail and flee onto their ships! We can pursue them no longer, and they head South on the seas away from our shores.

The Gnollish navy does list to stop them, instead sitting on the shores of the Elven territory and awaiting the return of their Chief.

Their Chief, and his company, assault the Elven village. They easily dispatch their swordsmen, who assume a most foolish circular formation, as though they expected the Gnolls to attack from all directions. We soon learn why - Dwarven troops, armed with the finest metal weapons Those Guys have ever seen, and solid metal armour, march into the city and join the assault midway through the combat. Now the city has been razed, the two armies sit opposite one another in a tense stalemate, with neither force looting the city, instead staying warily guarded. Those Guys are most worried by the situation, and await orders on what their response should be.

The farmland established by Ironshard is found to be incredibly fertile and capable of growing the finest wheat! A professor of the University believes it is due to its proximity to the Eastern Riverlands.
>>
>>23772489
How much of a military force is left on gnoll land?
>>
>>23772477
Nowhere in the carrot it says, that any species but the elves is to be eradicated (so our priests tell us) and so no other races WILL have to die!

These are the olden ways. They will not change. They are eternal

>>23772489
Expand to the east like a motherfucker. Fortify our old fortifications against the gnolls (if they attack) Those guys should convince them to sail home. Only that.
>>
>>23772489
I think for the next while, we should work on infrastructure, expansion and trade. We have iron and math technologies we haven't capitalized on yet, space to expand, and new neighbors to trade with.

For the situation in elf lands, we probably want to diffuse a conflict. I don't think we want to be forced to take sides in another war immediately. If one erupt, we should wash our hands of the affair.
>>
>>23772561
yes, we should expand to north east and north west, not building new settlements but instead putting farms and mines there
>>
Alright, send our armies to claim the elvish capital. Right now it is uncontested.

Also expand south and join our borders with the soon to be defunct elves.

Those Guys should attempt to begin negotiations with the Dwarves and the Gnolls on the remains of the Elvish Empire. We the Kobolds claim the Elvish Capital as our own. The Gnolls get their loot from the cities razed. The Dwarves are welcome to claim the city being contested at this time however the Gnolls will get to loot it.
>>
>>23772583
We will NOT claim elvish territory. We need the bottleneck right now in case the Gnolls turn against us. The dwarves gladly can have a part of the elven land
>>
>>23772583
Those Guys should be sent to hold the old capital, let the gnolls and dorfs figure it out between each other. The dorfs didn't want to help us as you'll recall.

>>23772539
You underestimate the foolishness of youth
>>
>>23772611
>>23772644
Then we gain nothing from these battles besides the dead.
>>
>>23772644
You underestimate the strength of the great fluffy one. Although it seems, like the youth desperatly wants to let elves live, so maybe I am wrong in my assumptions.

The dwarves are our friends and trusted allys. Why would we just leave them to fight the Gnolls (our mercs) thereby SHATTERING our relations! Think, man! We do not need the ruins that is the capital! That was never the goal! We dont need another enemy right now!
>>
>>23772671
elder, you misheard me, Those Guys should claim the old capital, as in the old elvish one, as in the ruins of what the gnolls sacked, leaving it a city no more, but it can be raised in the glory of koboldom
>>
>>23772671
The DEAD ELVES! This is the motivation for this war! You come into this council and ask from us to overthrow ourselves with our old friends and expose us to our enemies while denying the greatness of the killing we have done!
>>
>>23772688
The dorfs are not our allies! They treated with us and kicked our diplomats hence forth from their lands with a token of their power to remember them by. If anything, we should aid the gnolls as they have but mere copper weapons for a few of their soldiers, and the dorfs have IRON.

It is with Man that we must find our true allies. Not with the greedy dorfs, and not with the savage gnolls.
>>
>>23772692
Ah, alright then. However they should be accompanied by at least the archers. THey are only four kobolds no matter how strong and wily.
>>
>>23772581
I second this notion, increasing our food productions and taking up negotiations with our new friends should be of great importance for us right now
>>
It is in our interest that the Dwarves fortify elven territory and maintain holdings there, this will open them up for dependence on our meat and grain, and present opportunities for constructive relations while securing them as a military proxy against hostile forces moving through that territory.

The Gnolls in their bloodthirstyness are unsuitable allies, and should be dissuaded and send home as soon as is possible. We should focus Those Guys efforts on accomplishing that goal.

We must strengthen our relationships with our Human allies, founding a joint military academy with them and cultivating resources on our shared border to be given freely to both nations as need provides.

When our relationship with the eastern humans has grown to be productive and strong the northern humans will be forced to assume alliance, for want of security and protection against our unified state should they refuse.

Our sciences and learning must be used to strengthen our industry and our military, in that order. A time may come soon that Rabbit Riders clad in iron are needed to surge forth in opposition to those who may threaten our state or our allies.
>>
>>23772738
they "kicked" our diplomats, in actuallity just asked them to leave, after gifting us a new magical metal!

And we always had good relations with dwarfs! This are the good old ways, youngling!
>>
>>23772763
This is why this council should be left to the elder faction. Age brings wisdom.
>>
>>23772743
>>23772738
Another war, another expansion, more enemies! Are you out of your mind? we have to secure our position before moving on any further. We just barley survived this war, if we were to lose the cutlass cove we wouldn't have the resources to build armys to stop them from wiping us out

Not only is securing our food supply, and increasing our knowledge and infrastructure our highest priority, it should be our ONLY Priority
>>
>>23772533
We have no clue.

What is the view of each Councillor on expanding to take the Elven lands?
>>
>>23772846
The vigor of youth does not reduce the truth of this Elder's statement. Truly we must set aside war now in our victory, and favor the development of our industry and our allies in celebration.

Let it be so!
>>
>>23772873
dont do it. Expand north east and north west instead, planting wheat
>>
>>23772873
I oppose of this course of action.
Creating new fields in the south of ironshard is more important than creating new cities that we cannot hold
>>
I say do it.
>>
Kol reporting.
>>
>>23772873
A monument to our victory should be erected in the fallen capital city of the elves, depicting our glory in their destruction.

No more must be done, but no less.
>>
>>23772901
no, we should take the elven lands as farm land, where it is no longer contested. We would be pushing against the human nations if we expanded in that direction
>>
>>23772873
I say do it.
>>
now its not letting me delete, bah... it was unlinked so I was correcting my post =/
>>
>>23772946
Then only east/north east. Our allys will appreciate it if we can reinforce them more swiftly!
>>
>>23772873
I say to both expand and to start farming those lands as fast as possible. Or if the council disagrees then i say that we must support the kobold that seems to have been pretty busy in the academy.
>>
>>23772884
You are flattering me with your words, Elder. Truly I must seem young to a Kobold of your age and wisdom, despite being one of the oldest in our realm
>>
>>23772945
This is a great idea. Dont claim it, but erect a monument.
may I suggest a cathedral to our fluffy gods? A place of worship for those coming after us!

>>23772944
Kol, I am glad to see a face I can recognize in the council, albeit not an Elder, a bright mind nonetheless.
>>
>>23772873
Create the fields in the south of ironshards, expanding our realm in that direction, however, promise our neighbors a settlement of trade, peace and prosperity in that area sometimes in the future, where our merchants can set up a new market for the benefit of both of our realms.

As for the elven lands, let the monument be a great weird smelling lettuce, so his legend will not be forgotten.
>>
>>23773020
>>23772945
>>23772940
>>23772901

One action shall be spent on erecting an enormous copper temple to our Gaian Rabbit god, if this pleases the members of the council.
>>
>>23773020
Like wise. I'm glad to see the Elves no longer threaten us.
>>
>>23773061
only If there is an action to spend. And only if we can have some priests of our own located there.
>>
>>23773061
Wait...did we just spent an entire action just to erect a monument?

Can i propose a party to boost our troop's morale ?
>>
>>23773061
This must be a monument to the soldiers! Let this temple depict the holy combat of our bravest against the dirty elves, and glorify their sacrifice.
>>
>>23773061
Where would the building site for this temple be honoured Advisor?
>>
>>23773143
It should be a temple, maybe dedicated to the fallen soldiers. But to have actual Kobolds stationed there could be a great way to influence whoever comes next. A monument would not allow this.
>>
>>23773183
A temple of the weird smelling lettuce as a monument to our warriors
>>
>>23773150
Undoubtedly it must be placed in the capital city of the elves.

>>23773183
Let it be so, in honor of the soldiers let the temple be built.
>>
>>23773183
>>23773235

So it shall be.

Shall the other action go towards Northern expansion, or to building farmland on existing territory?
>>
>>23773285
eastern expansion, if at all. And i would say so
>>
>>23773285
FARM LAND

Bouncing Rabbits man! we need a surplus to survive winter!
>>
>>23773285
Farmlands in my opinion.
>>
>>23773285
We must expand east, both to provide for our own needs and offer increased support to our valuable eastern human allies.
>>
Rolled 22

>>23773285
Farmland is a GO
>>
>>23773285
Expansion to the East, Living space in that area will be necessary in the future.

>>23773235
Of course it shall be in the capital, your wisdom is limitless great Elder.
>>
>>23773329
>>23773312
>>23773296
This is to say that our eastern "expansion" should be the cultivation of farmland in the east for the good of Kobolds AND humans!
>>
>>23773312
It is spring, Citizen Kondrew, if we have the expansion to the east, we will have the rest of the year to grow wheat there.
>>
Rolled 78

>>23773368
Better safe than sorry, younger Elder, we need as much food as we can after our victory against the Elvish scum.
>>
>>23773349
I very much agree with my most wise of kinsmen. as do I with >>23773348 who is old and wise, just not AS old.

We should claim the east, plant wheat in the summer/late spring and harvest in the autum.
>>
>>23773368
>>23773349
Hmm. Considering whats been provided, I think we may want to expand easy instead of what a few of us previously said.
>>
So be it, we shall expand East.

And of the Gnoll-Dwarf situations, should Those Guys intervene?
>>
This war monument on the fallen elf capital sounds like a bad idea for foreign relations, especially if we are trying to portray ourselves as the defenders in this conflict. Certainly, a monument to our fallen is called for. It doesn't necessarily have to be jingoistic or on the elven capital's remains. Remember, other nations may blame and despise us for the gnolls' action, we might need to distance ourselves from them.

The monument should also probably wait, we have so much infrastructure to build! The sooner we start on that, the better. Let's hold off a turn or two. We need to recover from this war.

As for Those Guys, maybe they can negotiate something like this: the gnolls get all the loots they've already acquired and half the loot of this new city. The dwarves get half the loot of this new city and all the territory they've conquered. We get the Northern half of the elven territory.

As far as our expansions, those should be southward into elven territory... once the gnolls leave. We should stick behind our barricade until then.
>>
>>23773406
the one with the slickest tongue should ask the Gnolls to leave. If he isnt successful, they should keep away.
>>
If we aren't going to claim elvish lands and only care about the destruction of the eleves I think Those Guys can retreat with a few words as possible. They will probably fight however.
>>
>>23773406
I think somebody suggested a party before.
If we can suggest that to the dwarfs and gnolls, they might stop their aggression and we could benefit by partying with them, without harvesting our food supplies.
>>
>>23773424
I agree with this man here.
We get the northern Eleven Territory, Gnolls get their loot, Dwarfs leave us alone.
>>
>>23773454
I think they'd leave us alone for a short while, atleast.
>>
>>23773448
we do not have the food to throw a party of that magnitude. I think the idea has potential, but we arent in a position to do so.

>>23773424
The monument is necessary to give glory to the great fluffy one!
>>
>>23773454
we cant afford another war. The dwarves wont leave us alone. They never do. Lets not be so greedy. We should be cautious and slow, and get our living space in the east. If we are too fast, we might end up attacking a huge cold country with no winter equippment and then starving and losing a great, world spanning war!

No, living space in the east is more secure than that.
>>
RESEARCH
>>
>>23773454
>>23773424
Taking Elven territory will prove a greater burden than boon, by far! We are best to let the elves' land to the Dwarves as we can, and allow the Dwarves and Gnolls to resolve their own conflicts without our intervention.
>>
>>23773515
I understand what you mean. Maybe leave the gnolls and dwarfs to fight it out for now, and we'll see what happens later?
>>
We shall leaves the Gnolls and Dwarves to their selves, agreed?
>>
>>23773547
only if those guys that met in a bar cant stabilize the conflict. And I want to make it clear, that I am on the side of the dwarves, our OLD friends.
>>
>>23773515
>>23773482
The councilmen Meatonstick is right, we can neither afford the party, nor to spread out our realm so vast we cant defend it properly.
>>
>>23773554
It is not the perfect solution, however it is the safest.
We should also keep in mind to have an eye on the dwarfs reaction in the future
>>
whats going on here?
>>
>>23773554
It is not a perfect solution, but certainly the safest.

However we should keep in mind to have an eye on the reaction of our old friends, the dwarfs.
>>
We're the ones that convinced the gnolls to come here. If the dwarves and gnolls fight, the dwarves will probably blame us and declare war. That's why we need to defuse the situation.

And taking over the elf territory can be a long term plan. Strengthen ourselves first. We will need the expansion room at some point.

Our 2 moves this turn should definitely be infrastructure related. One move in research, one in expansion eastward. Next turn we can make a monument.
>>
Can we research improved food storage so we don't starve or accounting so we can keep track of the grain better
>>
>>23773631
You have a carrier that ends in the Elder faction of the council in front of you, young Kobold, I can sense it.

Our expansion goes less well than planned, but we still manage to aggregate a significant territory of grassland. Our Allies to the East expand towards us, meeting us at a new mutual border.

We have begun building up a modest food surplus.

Our attempts to build a monument temple in the South to celebrate our soldiers' efforts have begun, but are interrupted by a stampede of Gnolls who are moving swiftly back to their vessels. This construction will continue this turn, with no additional action required.

Those Guys have begun the journey to our homelands.

Meanwhile, our Iron ore stockpile bulges at the seams - we have become most rich with this new substance, though we have yet to utilise it.

Warmth is in the air, and we can feel Spring drawing to a close - it will soon be Summer.
>>
>>23773882
farms at iron shards.

The boat on the lake shell start to fish as well as move out farther, so we have a greater area it overseas.

With the iron, we should make plows and shields!

also, we will help the proffessor in the university
>>
>>23773882
Let the University study the capability of the ore, in order to discover a way of using it properly.
Our next action should be obvious. Create new fields in the expanded area beneath ironshard.
>>
>>23773882
>>23773947
I seem to have forgotten that we already have acquired great knowledge of this new ore.
I agree with >>23773936
to build shields with this strong material.

Also: Can those guys ask why the gnolls retreated so quickly before they leave?
>>
>>23773882
It is time, I believe, to build our first allied structure: a Two-Nations Military Academy just outside our eastern border to educate human and Kobold alike! This structure should be our promise to humanity of benevolence and mutual support, training up and educating their soldiers by our veterans as we better also our own military understanding.

Also, I propose we create a food co-op of men and kobolds in the east, that both nations may share of the abundance of food generated there mutually.

The humans have been great allies to us, it is time that our actions respond to them in kind.

When complete, this military academy can study and design new weapons of iron for humans and kobold, that both of our forces may be mightier for it.
>>
>>23773882
Priorities:
1) Research
2) Diplomacy with Northmen
3) Infrastructure. More roads, using our newfound mathematics to increase efficiency, etc
4) Establish a Joint Defense Academy with our human allies
5) Show our appreciation to our human allies with some token
6) Expansion south, once we feel ready

We should probably have those guys explore the rest of the former elf territory while they're down there.
>>
>>23773986
the acadamy is a bit too fast for my liking, but I do agree with the wise elder on the cooperation in regards to the food. This could boost our relations to even higher levels. They really are great allys.
>>
>>23774030
I seem to be unable to find "Glory to the Great Fluffy one" on that list.
>>
1) Lets aid that savant who locked himself up.
2) We also should look into expanding south. If we let the dwarves at our monument they'll most liekly melt it down.
>>
>>23773986
The Elder speaks with great wisdom, however the Academy should be a little bit further to the south, where our realm has yet to expand, so we have plenty of room for the fields, and it would be in the middle of the former circle, that separated our realms in the past.
>>
>>23774046
We are currently making a monument in honor to the Great One and to our fallen soldiers; that was the very first thing we did upon our glorious victory.
>>
>>23774054
>>23773936
I can arrange for the Professor to be given his supplies, if the Council agrees upon this action.
>>
>>23774070
It is nice to mention it once in a while. Like ourselves mention the great rabbit before we step outside of doors, a good habit to not forget who we are and what we do.
>>
>>23774063
This is agreed, that there may be plenty of territory left that our field may flourish.

>>23774054
>>23774030
Expansion to the south should be limited greatly. We stand to lose much more than gain in efforts there, and would be wise to focus our attentions where our cities lie.

Should the Dwarves choose to assault our monument, they will find themselves to have committed a most foolish atrocity, indeed!
>>
>>23774111
Yeah, sure, give the professor his supplies. Also hand over 2 things of iron to our scientists, so they can work on designing ways to make iron tools and weapons.
>>
>>23774070
>>23774120
Oh yes, the litany of the brief mentioning of the great fluffy one while exiting doors. A good tradition.

>>23774216

>>
>>23774216
The OP made that tool. Look at the image and read the thread before you post this, it has already been asked many times!
>>
>>23774111
Let him have his supplies, as long as it does not affect our efforts of raising new fields.

Also: Is there any word from the dwarfs?
>>
>>23774154
Hmm, do other people want vision on allies?
>>
>>23774180
Trading copper with the gnolls isn't the worst idea anymore. They already acquired copper weapons from the elf loot, so we can't deny them that. It might build up some goodwill with them, plus we have iron weapons incoming.
>>
>>23774289

yes, let those guys investigate the elven town that is sieged by dwarves!

I fear they conspired with the trolls against us. We have no minute of peace, oh why is there always war?
>>
>>23774309
I wouldn't mind it, I personally don't like the fog of war either.
>>
>>23774289
consider me one of other people who want this
>>
>>23774030
I think this turn we should do
1) Research via giving the professor in a fey mood tools and materials
3) Use our math knowledge to increase crop yield, transportation, distribution, and storage efficiency.

I also agree with Those Guys exploring the south of the continent.
>>
>>23774343
gnolls, I mean, of course
>>
>>23774309
>>23774377

I meant this one
>>
Okay, give me a little extra time and I'll code it in now
>>
why is noone concerned with that useless boat we have since the dawn of bloody time?
>>
>>23774479
Oh right, we have a boat. I am fairly sure that we can put it to good use.
Is there anything on it at the moment? If not, lets change that and start fishing.
>>
>>23774309
This would seem right, if they are truly declared allies.

>>23774313
We have no reason to initiate trade with the gnolls, and providing any resource may bolster them against us even while our motivations are otherwise.

>>23774343
The dwarves will find us staunch enemies if they are so unwise. I am inclined to believe the intimidated the gnolls by force of arms, and that for now the threat of war is over.

I believe we should provide the university what goods it needs to continue, and foster cooperative fields in the east with our human allies so that they will gain from our prosperity.
>>
>>23773882
Also, we should redeploy our forces now that the war is over.

1 Archer should be deployed to Winterbury, to defend our capital.

1 Archer should be deployed to Cutlass Cove, in case those elves come back.

We should have our Rabbit Riders head down south into former elven territory, and do recon and loot anything left over.

Those Guys head up north, and maybe strike a trade deal with the human empire of the north.

>>23774550
we shouldnt send up anybody to Winterbury, instead just recruit a new army there. We are a bit low on troops anyways.

Those guys really should use their position and scout for the dwarves
>>
>>23774585
Looks great.
>>
>>23774595
I agree with the need for more troops, right after we can afford them and can make sure too feed us all in the future
>>
>>23774550
I can agree with an army redeployment, but ONLY once the gnolls are actually gone. Hold on for a second.
>>
>>23774622
yes, maybe we should wait on stomping out a new army until we have a little bit of a stockpile
>>
>>23774595
I agree with sending Those Guys to scout out the dwarfs.
>>
>>23774585
That looks good

>>23774550
>>23774585
We haven't the need to position forces in Winterbury, we should allow our forces to gather in Cutlass cove to repair, rearm, and rest in comfort. When we are able to complete our military academy, then we can take the finest of our warriors and appoint them as scholars of warfare in presidence over that facility, and mount our military defenses in proper fortification around all allied territory, as is proper for us Kobalds!
>>
>>23774661
So we can agree in advance, that there will be new roads necessary from the academy to our nation, and to the nation(s) of our allie(s)
>>
>>23774725
Most certainly, yes that is in order.
>>
>>23774661
Yes, we should keep our forces where a.) the gnolls are potential enemies, b.) the dwarves ditto and c.) our great building site lies.

>>23774585
I forgot to say that I love it a lot
>>
>>23774743
I agree that we should still keep the beach secure, however our entire north is unprotected at the moment.
We should deploy at least one of our armies to the university, to rest and train, from there they can easily assist our troops in the south, and (thanks to our great infrastructure) can be quick up in the north to defend our cities against eventual attackers.
>>
>>23774585
hey, we won the war, time to ally with the northern king.
>>
>>23774797
thats why I think we should recruit an army in snarewood ore winterbury. Also, lets ally with the humans, that probably wont take an action.
>>
>>23774804
or not ally, more like make trading agreements
>>
>>23774804
If we do that, make sure to go there with clear intentions, maybe even send those guys because he will be familiar with them and give them a present, as a gesture of our good will.
>>
>>23774833
I think we all agree on more troops, but we also established that we have to wait with the recruiting until we can supply our entire realm. No one should have to suffer from hunger.
>>
I shall supply the Professor, and dispatch Those Guys to the North, if this is what the council wish.
>>
>>23774932
We should also see for the dwarves. Maybe our rabbit riders could go scout this out. And what about the farms? The new farms!
>>
>>23774932
not to mention the boat! Let the fucking boat fish! For carrots sake!
>>
>>23774932
We can build our new farms while this happens right?
If yes, I am in favour of this.
>>
>>23774932
aye
>>
>>23774963
>>23774973
You speak with the wise words of an Elder, dear Councillor
>>
>>23774963
>>23774973

I shell leave the, already emptying council now to oversee the building of our great temple! I fare ye well, Advisor, and council
>>
>>23775133

But before I leave I just want to point out, that it looks like our allies have only one army and this one is stationed outside of their realm, at the beach with us.

Summer is upon us! Many a Kobold lies basking in the now baking heat.

The farms in the Northwest are growing in number, though they have yet to be planted with wheat. We now produce a sizable surplus, thanks in part to out naval on the lake being disbanded to form fishing vessels.

Those Guys are undertaking the long journey to the North, and will shortly arrive at our storehouse to select an appropriate gift - does the council have any suggestions? The rabbiteers, as they are now know, Scout south, discovering a unit of dwarves heading tentatively Northeast. They await further instruction.

The professor is most pleased by the facilities of the University at his command, and immediately sets about his strange sciences - he has amassed all materials he requires, but he may be some time in his study.

The Easteners' forces begin the journey back to their homelands, where there has been recent Gnollish expansion. The Gnoll chief and his warriors, meanwhile, make off into the high seas, presumably back to there homelands...

Our temple is complete! The grand copper ears scrape the very heavens, and many pilgrims now travel to the site. Our soldiers in particular are roused by this staggering Kobold achievement, and engineering.

With this grand wonder, we have truly established ourselves as a great power. We now have 3 actions per turn.

this is so fucking suspicious. we really should build up more army

Expand south.
Continue to aid research
Lets replace our lost navies.

Whoops, we hit autosage a while back, I'll make a new thread.

Build a fort along the human-gnoll border. Trade relations with gnolls, and raise more rabbit riders

Once research is started, we no longer need to put action in it

As for the navies, I agree that we need to have some sort of sea power, if just a defensive one. However, our ships have proven far less effective than the elves' and the gnolls'. I say we need to do something other than just rebuild our ships. One option is to scavenge the wrecked elf ships, and ask Those Guys for any recon they got on the gnoll ships, and then try to reverse engineer those. Another option is to try to be sneaky upon the water, with catapults, shoreline ballistae, mirrors, and perhaps water rabbits.

Let's find out what the dwarves are up to, surely they have a friendly cause, and maybe we'll even want to help them.

Dwarven engineering could give us copper hull ships?

We should build some sort of exploratory fleet, there has to be more nations we can trade with across the seas.
