First thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/23729950/

The year is 2048 PS, Post Spatium. Humanity has finally pushed their differences aside and were united under one banner, SolForce. This human coalition developed technology and weaponry that boosted the human expansion into space, this included warp drives and plasma cannons that could boil a ship's hull away in a matter of seconds. They stretched through the Orion Arm, settling in over 1,000 star systems. They established space ports in some of these more "contested" star systems. These ports protect the star system from outside invasions. Coalition Port 46 is one of these ports. The port is in the the star system named SST-5275, inside of this star system are four planets: GT-031, a dust planet much like Mars only a little bigger. This is where the human colony lies. The other planets are a gas giant named TY-612, a ice planet named DE-4109, and another gas giant named TY-234, this is the planet the space port is in orbit around. You have led your colony to success, capturing and dissecting an alien ship, defeating off a fearsome pirate attack in a neighboring system, and managing to negotiate an entire star port of pirates and smugglers into your inner circle. Your efforts have helped you uncover the psionic potential latent in some of your population, including your own daughter... and a horrible secret regarding the nature of the implants that SolForce uses to unleash psionic potential: They contain a deadly killswitch, effectively a bomb that will kill any implanted. You have just completed construction of the psionic refinement facility that handles such implantation, as well as an orbital shipyard and dedicated research AIs. Your power grows, and SolForce seems none the wiser.

Can we re-name these? I suck at naming things but maybe other players are more imaginative.
>>
we should name our colony, cant believe it doesnt already have one!
>>
Goddamnit, I have work tonight, and must sleep.

Can I get one of those cybernetic doohickeys that replace my need for sleep? Or is our tech level that high yet?
>>
>>23736210

You should put how many Reasearch Projects we have available, like you did Action Points.

Also for research.

> Research project (Cerebral Implants)
>>
>>23736258

Also Upgrade and Refit our Ships.
>>
>>23736210
A)Train your troops/Colony's troops.

B)Transport some military to the Colony or ask for military assistance from them.

C) Ask Myra to steal a technology or procure information for you.

D) Contact CentComm and ask for a emergency supply delivery.

E) Construct fleet/ships

F) Upgrade your Port or Colony.

G) Advanced Research (One additional research project)

H) Other

With the facility complete, and the shipyard above complete as well, your research AIs are now working as expected. Though they are by no means truly intelligent as a smart AI might be, they are also nowhere near as dangerous. They continue to assist your research where desired, and your investigation into Cerebral Implants will now only take a single year. Your daughter's aging has slowed considerably now, remaining in her eighteen-year-old form, though her psionic powers continue to grow in spite of a lack of implants.

Something that has caused mixed reactions amongst your staff. Myra shows a rather unsettling interest in your daughter's psionic potential, whereas the likes of General Warhurst seem to view here with a mixture of fear and wariness.

Admiral Donaldson, a frequent guest with the efforts to get the shipyard running, also seems to be anxious about the fact that your daughter is now able to assemble and disassemble a land cruiser's engine block, whereas most seem to struggle with lifting something as light as a lighter.

To you, it's simply a sign that greatness breeds greatness, and that your dynasty is absolutely secure in its future.

Your daughter seems to delight in her increasing abilities, and with the facility's completion, now begs you near-incessantly to be able to get the implants in question, so she might unlock her ultimate potential.

What do you desire to do?

>>23736238
Naming is always an option and definitely available.

>>23736258
>>23736270
Current Research Projects available for research: 2. A dedicated research action doubles this number.

>>23736253
Cerebral Implants covers a wide range of brain-based implant research, including artificial endorphin glands and pituitary control mechanisms. So, in about one turn, yes.

>>23736252
A name is available to be chosen.

>>23736270
Refitting it assumed to take place whenever the fleet is not immediately active, as upgrades and refitting are a gradual process, unless otherwise specified.
>>
>>23736282
Well, explain to her we're working on implants that are EVEN BETTER. If she can hold on another year or so, then she can have those.
>>
>>23736282
I think we go with our daughters suggestion, seeing as how we seem to be playing a Grayish governor who completely dotes on her as she seems to be doing daddy's little successor quite nicely.
>>
>>23736282
She has to wait till we have cerebral implants researched no killswitch for her.

Lets build ships for the fleet, atleast enough to peplace losses.
>>
>>23736282
well first of all explain to her that she has to wait so we can be sure no one puts a bomb in her head
>>
>>23736282
I suggest the name Dawn for our colony's planet.

Commence research on the cerebral implants as soon as possible.
>>
>>23736282

Also make sure that she understands great power or not she can still be easily killed, and as such no lording the power over anyone else, makes them to scared and not usefull.

>>23736332
Agreed. So we need one more research project.
Should we research how to research research even better? For science of course? Honestly if we put the time and effort into it now it will pay of really big for us later on down the line.
>>
>>23736364
Yes. We should.
And build more places in which to do said research.
We can always trade tech, as well as food.
>>
>>23736364
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
I say we research the shit out of everything!
>>
>>23736364
As long as we continue expanding construction so we can actually DO something with said research.

I really think we should pick up terraforming and some more autofarms to get that extra action point

The way I see it we have the ability to research two things at once right now right?
Let's dedicate one of them full time to making our research faster. By that I mean research new and better ways to conduct research and all that shit. It won't have immediate pay offs of researching something like better shielding but it'll pay off in the late game. We'll be super god damn advanced. WE'LL HAVE ALL THE RESEARCH. ALL OF IT. CLOAKING CAPITAL SHIPS. HYPER BEAM FUCKERS. THEY SHALL FEAR US.

Your daughter simply smiles at you as you discuss all of this over dinner.

"Now, Annabel," You state, sipping your iced scotch in a gloved hand, "I know you've been patient up until now about getting those implants, and I do appreciate it." You begin, your daughter simply smiling for now, her long head of dark brown hair neatly tied behind her.

"But I wanted something extra special for you, my dear, something we've been working on for quite some time-- an improvement on the implants you'll be receiving." You state, smiling, "They'll be ready in a year, and they're meant to be extra-safe."

"But dad," She replies, brows furrowed, attempting to act coy about the fact that she's going to be on the receiving end of brain surgery, "Isn't safety why you had me learn how to shoot and fence and fight with my bare hands?" She asks, giving you puppy dog eyes.

"Be that as it may," You reply, "There's many men who don't care to make sure that big, beautiful brain of yours doesn't get hurt. I'm just making sure you stay safe through the process." You reply, giving her a look to indicate that was that. A look she didn't dare argue, simply looking a bit crestfallen.

"You're still human, even if you're the kind of princess that rescues the knight." You add, giving a wink, to which she chuckles.

As for research, the exact projects are up to you, though suggestions can be given. Doctor Jamison, head of your personal research division (and overseer of all others), has a number of ideas as it is.

Dawn is now a tentative planetary name.

I'm not saying we shouldn't do other things, just that we should act like we can only research one thing at a time at the moment. We can use the other one to research ways to speed research in general up. Then we'll eventually build more research labs which will give us three points. One to still dedicate and two for whatever else. I mean hell we already made research AIs. Once we've taken that to the limit we'll be able to power through everything else.
>>
>>23736509
>>23736495
That's why we should build more construction and start BUILDING SHIT right now, because waiting for the super advanced cap ships to be ready is dumb if you only have the basics to defend at the moment

Let us ask Doctor Jamison to give us a rundown on our options.

I'm definitely not saying to not do anything else. I just personally think we should continue that research path. The pay out will be huge later on, I assure you. We won't be as powerful right now as we could be but later on we'll start pulling ahead at an alarming rate.
He says we can make two buildings, I say make one of them another research lab.
I give you my word as a man that if we do this it'll pay off big.
Besides, it's always fun to gamble.
>>
>>23736569
Can we see the list? I've kinda forgot but I feel one should be expanding the shipyard to better use the tech we've got.

>>23736598
I'm not sure we should research more research and build more research at the same time. Maybe compromise and alternate?
>>

There is a reason why they are only used in facility's made to contain them completely from the outside.

The good doctor, a simple Jesuit man dressed in priestly robes, sits quietly behind his desk at he holo-conferences you after dinner with your daughter. Going over your options with him, at least as far as suggestions for research go, though any project is open.

>Desert World Terraforming
>>Grand Cruiser Schematics: A step below the flagship design, and on-par with a carrier, a Grand Cruiser is a front line warship dedicated solely to warfare, armed with reinforced armor, a honeycombed interior, and a terrifying broadside ability of both gauss cannons and torpedoes.
>>Early military-grade infantry powered armor designs: With dedicated servos, built-in radar and sonar, internal air supplies, and an advanced internal battery capable of lasting a week without recharge, these suits lack the perks of more modern suits, but are still leaps and bounds above the civilian-grade stuff your troops currently use.
>Rotary Plasma Cannons: Cannons designed to fire a continuous stream of plasma bolts by rotating the barrels, allowing the heat sinks to rotate in rapid succession, increasing rate of fire without seriously altering any systems.
>Cloaking Fields: Adapting the technology from the Stealth Corvette, you are able to develop both metamaterial alloys and field generators that can render a ship, building, or person effectively invisible.
>Personal Plasma Guns (PPG): Heavy weapons designed to eliminate enemy armor and aircraft, PPGs are bulky weapon platforms that require a backpack mounted on powered armor, containing a small plasma manufacturing and heating unit. The PPG fires these globs of plasma in a near-continuous stream of bolts, incinerating targets.
>Micro-grenade dispensers: Usable by infantry, micro-grenade dispensers enable a solider to produce three-inch-wide rounded discs from a specialized fabricator that easily attaches onto a soldier's belt. These dispensers contain a myriad of grenade types, ranging from anti-tank to fragmentation to flashbang.
>>

>>23736771
>Colossus Siege Tanks: Heavy, treaded tanks designed to be able to transform into a mobile firebase and bunker. The heavy armor plating of the tank, which is the size of a bomber, shifts when placed into 'Siege' mode. Its main cannon, a gauss accelerator, is able to target both aircraft and enemy armor.

>>
>>23737156
>>23737165
A killswitch that functions as a psi-collar or neural scrambler is certainly possible, though it'd be extremely painful as a non-lethal option. SolForce likely utilizes the bomb because it's cheaper, easier, and they've got thousands of solar systems to draw replacements from rather than wasting energy trying to recondition a renegade.

>>23737115

>>23737125
>>23737136
Understood.

>>23737144
>>23737165
>>23737135
You queue the replacements. Crews aren't a concern at the moment as the ships can function on a skeleton crew until the next supply convoy, at which point the necessary crew can be integrated into your ships. Unless you establish a cloning facility, at which point suitable crews can be produced via cloning.

1 destroyer and 2 frigates will require three of your five slips for ships, and be prepared by next year. The additional five destroyers and ten frigates will require three years-- bringing the total amount of time to four years in order to complete this expanded fleet, which will be inoperative until a supply fleet (emergency or otherwise) can bring crews.

Stealth corvettes, while able to hit hard, are also very fragile targets. Fighters and bombers could eliminate one if it was caught in the wrong position, though the weapon and power systems on the craft are capable of delivering a very powerful and tactical punch.

>>23737388

We also should improve our food production capabilities and housing.
>>
>>23737336
>>23737392
Actually, like I said earlier, couldn't we just research the stealth corvette's weapons systems? Then we could spam them and put them on bigger and more armored ships. Pack a massive punch without being fragile.
>>
>>23737388
>>23737376
And so... it is done.

Extensive research, aided by banks of servers that form rudimentary AI, has yielded two massive boons. The first, the secret to the development of a device capable of helping terraform the planet. A special class of ship: A terraformer, one part geo-engine and two parts colonizer, its myriad of custom tools designed for helping turn the desert below into an Earth-like paradise.

The second discovery is much more interesting. Having implanted all 75 psionically sensitive trainees in your system up to this point in an almost robotic surgical fashion, you've become quite familiar with the process in question. Watching from the empty medical theater, empty but for your retinue of power-armored guards, as well as your inner circle of Doctor Jamison, General Warhurst, and Admiral Donaldson, with Myra observing a few seats down (mainly because she was draped across three seats in a rather awkward fashion), each procedure was the same.

The entrance of the shaven-headed subject, dressed in a basic surgical gown, upon a gurney, unconscious, to the waiting arms of an OR filled with over a dozen bustling technicians and three specialized surgeons. The pre-marked lines upon the skulls and torsos of the patient in question, followed by the gentle buzz of bonesaw and shlick of scalpel blade. Soon enough, the person is open like a dressed deer.

Soon enough, the implants slip in. The cortical electrodes, the unique teflon tiara that rings about the front of the brain. The gentle rotation of the body as the spinal column is cut open, special pins inserted at special points. All unique, all potent, all equally draining.

However, it is not a certain art. Five died right on the table. You watched five die right before your eyes, each one of them just as likely to be Annabel.

You hear Warhurst speak up.

"I don't agree with this." He said simply, the black-as-coal face of the man locked into a look of parental concern that matched yours.

Why?

"... But god dammit if I don't want to be down there with her." The grizzled general remarks, Admiral Donaldson speaking up next.

"She's strong. She's got more sand in her pinky than some seasoned naval armsmen I know." He remarked, Jamison nodding behind him.

"God protects those that He has a plan for." The priest remarked, as you simply stare at the theater below. You can only watch as Annabel is brought out on the gurney, her beautiful hair shaven entirely off so as to leave her utterly hairless. The marines around you keep their hands on their autoguns in the event of something funny happening.

But there was no humor, only intensity, your daughter remaining utterly motionless as the surgeons performed their special breed of techno-surgery. No father should have to see his daughter's exposed brains, but there you are.

And then you hear it.

"Control implant," The lead surgeon calls out, holding his hand out as if asking for a scalpel.

You push the holographic button on the observation window's pane, "That won't be necessary, doctor."

"It's a central part of the procedure, sir." The surgeon retorted simply, "The control unit is needed to ensure that the various implants are successfully--"

"BULLSHIT!" You announce, your adjutants staring at you as you stare directly down at the surgeon below. The marines around you all have their guns in hand and leveled, but not at you-- directly at the surgeon below. A dozen massive autogun barrels pointed directly at him, his body polka dotted by the red aiming lights from the cyborg soldiers.

"That thing's meant to kill my daughter. I won't have her subjected to it." You rumble.

"Sir, please be reasonable. It's a vital--"

"Don't. Try me." You growl, "There's many surgeons who can put her back together again. Not so many that will be able to do as much for you if you try to put that implant in her head."

There was a moment of contemplation, of suicidal contemplation and intensity. An eternal moment.

"... I'm not going to let a psionic just walk arou..." He paused, the unit in question dropping out of his hands, clattering to the ground. He paused for a second, abruptly reaching a gloved hand towards his head.

"... I'm not going to let this g..." He began again, screwing his eyes shut. You simply stare at him, then to the unconscious form of Annabel, laying on the gurney with her eyes... screwed shut?

"Uuuurgh." The chief surgeon manages, "... I can't... Think." He managed, before making an abrupt choking noise. A massive bubble welled up behind his facemask, a bubble of blood that promptly exploded like a ripe grape across the inside of the mask. Contaminant alarms went off as technicians began to wheel Annabel off to a secondary emergency room.

The head surgeon in question was left alone, seemingly forgotten, as he grabbed at his head, giving out a low moan before vomiting-- blood staining the perfect tile floors.

Your men stand at full alert now, but you remain perfectly seated, even as Warhurst gets an uncomfortable look on his face.

"The fuck is going on?" He rumbles.

"We'll need a new chief of surgery." You remark calmly, as the head surgeon slowly slides back onto his haunches, arms flopping uselessly to his sides and smearing the blood across the floor. The technicians were in full flight now, seeking to seal your daughter back up in a relatively clean environment.

"I believe we had a success." You murmur quietly, reclining in your seat as you wave your bodyguards down. In the back of your mind, somehow, you can feel the steady thread of Annabel's life, growing stronger and stronger with each passing moment, even cut open as she was. The throb of her heart filling your mind with pride at her inner fortitude.

"A fantastic success."

...Annabel is the best daughter ever.
>>
>>23737843
Our daughter can now literally kill annoying suitors with her mind.

Why does this make me so happy?
>>
>>23737901
Papa bear mode, of course!
>>
>>23737843
It would be several days before she would be released from the intensive care unit... But she would walk tall and with purpose, seemingly unphased by the drugs that coursed in her veins to subdue the pain, standing tall where her fellow surgical subjects slouched and whimpered.

Training the corvette crews is simple enough to accomplish, especially with the abundance of space in your system.

Cloning is also definitely on the table for research, as it has found prominent use, if restricted, with SolForce.

Improved Research AI is possible as well, as are more advanced troop training drills, depending on what you wish to accomplish. You have seventy one psionically enhanced and surgically improved subjects. Each of which has vastly improved psionic potential. Your daughter's, in fact, to an unknown extent.

More shipyard space is also possible-- it'll take another three turns (or two if solely focused on) to build an additional 5 slips onto the existing shipyard.

The weapons systems of the stealth corvette are up for being researched, but they're highly integrated and rely on a delicate balance between the corvette's antimatter core, engines, and unique metamaterial alloys.

Give that girl a hug once she's out of surgery and on the mend. Give her a hug, pick her up, and spin our little girl around. She just killed a man with her mind for the first time.
>>
>>23737956
Let's dedicate one more point to AIs shall we?
I really wanna take that tree as far as it'll go.
>>
>>23737956
I say we don't do cloning now or in forseeable future
we're already too controversial

same goes with true AI
>>
we should terraform as soon as possible, we'll get population bonus which in turn will give us anotehr action per turn
>>
>>23738127
Agreed. Making a terraformer and getting that taken care of is a very good thing. And once we've terraformed our main planet we can start getting other planets habitable, maybe those in the system where Myra is based.
>>
>>23738077
Don't be a pansy.
Make a terraformer, research AI, what else are we doing with our last research point? Farming?
>>
>>23738163
I think we researched terraforming specifically for this planet, trying other planets would need more research... right?
>>
Terraform, make more autofarms later.

Get working on those improved research AI.

Research some better armor for our men too.
>>
>>23738193
Farming or cloning.

>>23738198
Probably, but me don't have the pop to make that necessary yet.
>>
>>23738077
>>23738033
You push to Improved Research AIs, which is as close to getting towards true AIs are you're currently willing to pursue. This project will require three years at its current level.

Terraforming will require an active action on your part-- requiring you to build the equivalent of a facility on-planet, which will then be teleported up to your star port for usage from there. On the upside, this immense structure allows you to, once it is in space, begin the rapid and permanent alteration of the planet below. A violent process, but that is why the plan is to safe the populated areas for last, so as to let the ecosystem stabilize at much as possible.

What is the other research project you wish to pursue, or do you wish to double-down on the AI improvement?
>>
>>23738229
...uhh.... how much quicker it would be if we double-down on the AI improvement?
>>
>>23738229
Cloning, myself.
>>
>>23738229
I would say improving are powered armor
>>
>>23738229
I certainly want the AIs. Even if it's a three turn deal. We can use it.
>>
>>23738229
I have a question about cloning. Will we have to train the clones or do they get the information from the thing they're set from? If so we could use cloning.
>>
>>23738265
I support this, but only if it is possible to keep our memories and shit when we transfer to a new body
>>
>>23738389
yeah as long as we can base them off a template I'm fine.
>>
>>23738229
How dangerous are true AIs? Are they dangerous if we put counter measures in place? Are there other ways to improve research?
>>
The thing with true AI and cloning is that we are going to bring a lot of attention to ourself even if we are going to go by the book and use all the policies and counter measures.

You want them to know we have a psionic daughter that could assemble and disassemble a cruiser with just her thoughts?

I say we wait with those things and focus on something else.
>>
Since Annabel is psionic, we should look into the possibility that the Lord Governor is psionic as well. It is possible that it runs in the family.

Also, begin research on isolating the genes responsible for psionics so that they can be replicated and engineered into others.
>>
>>23738565
Alright, so we don't go true AI yet. So just stop at Improve AI for now? I'm fine with that. What do you guys wish to pursue from here?
>>
>>23738687
Something that can help increase the construction time?
Better cybernetics?
New ship designs?
Increased efficiency of agriculture and industry?
Research into some ways of making population increase faster (spiking the water to increase the fertility rates, increasing the chances of getting two and more kinds at once)
>>
>>23738687
as I said before improved powered armor seeing how we are using civiy versions
>>
Some space based defences would be nice.
>>
>>23738764
Okay, power armor and combat cybernetics once we've finished with the AI?
Then ship designs. Better cloaking plus a better teleporter thing so we can jump anywhere in the system. Eventually we can make it where it doesn't drain all the power. Till then we'll have to have an extra power reserve in the ship designs to make proper use of it. Plus I'd like the ability to refit all of our ships, so we need to research those guns on the cloak ship like someone mentioned ages ago.

terraform our planet
Better weaponry for our ships
Better shields for our ships
Improved teleportation for our ship.
Refitting all ships with cloak.
Improved power armor
Combat cybernetics
Something to help with construction rate.
Better ship designs
Get bigger fleet
get Myra to steal better tech for us.
Upgrade our port or colony

Not in that order of course.
Did I miss anything?
>>
>>23738863
I forgot crew training.
>>
>>23738863
sounds good
>>
>>23738863
Industrial-standard power armour to increase shipyard and industrial productivity?
>>
>>23739016
Yep.
>>
>>23739016
I think terraforming and improving construction rate should go first.
>>
>>23739028
Deleted last list cuz I forgot something again.

Terraform our planet
Better weaponry for our ships
Better shields for our ships
Improved Hyish Translocation Drive
Improve Space-to-Ground Teleportation
Refitting all ships with cloak
Improved power armor
Combat cybernetics
Something to help with construction rate
Better ship designs
Get bigger fleet
Get Myra to steal better tech for us
Upgrade our port or colony
Crew training
Industrial-standard power armor
Space based defense systems
Better farming
Better Cerebral Implants
Better Medical Care (Should be able to increase our population.)
Research new alloys
Again, not in that order.
Seem like a complete list?
>>
Nice to see my quest getting put to good use.
>>
>>23738256
Doubling down would improve the rate to two years instead of three.

>>23738265
>>23738389
>>23738914
Research is also extended to cloning, the early basics of which you have the ability to develop and empower, your laboratories working with an estimated completion time for that specific project being about three years.

>>23738621
You do not have psionic genes as far as you are aware and have been tested, but then again, that would rely on you putting yourself in a position of vulnerability for an extended period of time. Such a thing being, of course, rather anathema to the swarm at large.

>>23738751
>>23738687
>>23738863
All of these research avenues are viable, including improved cloaking and translocation drives. Though each has a varied time, it is down to you to determine what avenues are pursued next.

>>23738836
Space defenses are extremely viable as well-- Myra's defensive satellites could be replicated as point defense platforms. In addition, torpedo platforms could also be developed, as well as long-range warp detection platforms.

And with all of this said, and with all of that outlined, I now require a bit of bed rest myself. I'll return later tonight after a nice night's rest: More than a few hours snatched in a fitful nap.

Feel free to leave input or thoughts or discuss ideas for when I return with a recharged brain!
>>
>>23739076
I'm enjoying it so far...I hope everyone else is.
>>
>>23738229
Where you at, OP?
>>
>>23739096
Goodnight Davidson.

I don't think we should double down the AI guys.

GIVE ME MORE THINGS FOR THE LIST.
>>
>>23739096
alright, thanks brah

someone should archive this just in case, /tg/ has been moving faster than before
>>
>>23739131
Well we should include building a giant fleet of super stealth warships with guns that can destroy planets and enough marines to take said planets if we feel like it.

Or is that a little ambitious at the moment?
>>
>>23739194
Just a hair ambitious at the moment.
We'll get there if it's the last thing we do.

I think we should eventually put true AI on our ships. I know you're gonna think I'm crazy...but treat em like they're human and I think we'll be okay...right?
>>
>>23739096
Thanks for running, OP!
>>
>>23739215
Well as long as we get there.

I'll support that, as long as our initial (And repeated) friendship tests with our other AI's go ok. And they still have human crew members.

Oh and we should probably find a way to make Annabel into some kind of leader/commando person (as long as she wants too) with amazing psychic powers that allow us to rape other.

Planet sized psychic dominaters from RA2 anyone?
>>
>>23739215

If it ends in anything else than the total destruction of biological life i am going to be surprised.
