You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. You have decided to see the world, and possibly become a Paladin like your Father.

You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mary, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighter, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.

Your journey continues...

You were successful in repelling the ghouls attacking the lizards that live below Stone Hall. Isen the Audacious and Tara are their usual energetic, unapologetic, selves.

Convincing the lizard people to come fight for the humans above, in exchange for some promises of equality went easier than you expected. Mostly because it turned out that the leader of the lizard people was a naga, your 'cousin' race. A very very old naga, who told you some interesting things, as she beat the scales off of you, in a painful 'initiation' rite. You vowed to return one day, to learn from the only other intelligent member of snake-woman that you've met...and to return the gifts of the busted nose and tail that 'Granny' gave you. With interest.

Back at the Paladin camp, your news of a way to flank the Ghouls, and extra forces was very welcome. However, Paladin Bobbi Odette tried to convince your 'uncle,' Paladin Julian Graves, to backslide on his promises. Her tongue was as slick and slimy as her greasy black hair. You appealed to Uncle Julian's honor, and the man rose to it. That, along with an interruption by perennial pain-in-the-ass Isen the Audacious, made sure that Paladin Odette's schemes were uprooted before they could flower.

You have hugged your friends, your dear ones, and gave your best of luck to Isen and Tara. You've made your plans on how to get through the city, to the Conclave building. That's where the ghoul's leader the 'Fell King' is based.

The only Light in Stone Hall right now are the fires coming from the corpse piles.

The Dawnbreakers are about to enter The Shit.

Okay, going to wait a little for everyone to show up, cause this one's gonna come fast and furious.

If anyone has played a 'chase sequence' in Pathfinder, then this will be familiar to you.

Also, that's my email there. Please feel free to send me any questions, story compilations, art, and other stuff you want to know about or add to Ssen's story and the world of Citadel.

I'll reciprocate as best I can, and I'll take requests.

DOH! DawnCHASERS...right, Derp. This is what I get for not double checking.

Also, since we have Ssen there in 2nd post and Tricia is in this one, here's some descriptions of the other three. These trump anything I've said before.

Mage: The tallest member of the group. (Not counting Ssen at her full length.) White, ears that stick out, messy dark brown hair, brown eyes, his robes are the green of Ssen's tail with a hem that's the red of her hair. He has a snakeskin shackle on one arm, an iron chain connects the shackle to his staff. The Horn of the Fell Hind is almost as tall as he his, it looks like a pruned tree branch made of iron. At the top, set within the 'branches,' there's a metal ball made of bronze. He most likely has a vegetable with him for a snack.

Peri/Mari: She's black, with black hair in a paige boy cut. She's a quarter-elf, and that shows in her elegant fingers. She dresses in leather armor that's a mix of dark green and dark red. She keeps two blades on her back in an X sheathe, and she has a small crossbow on her hip for Mari to use. When Peri's there, her eyes are hazel, when Mari's there, her eyes are blue, also Mari makes Peri's face look slightly softer, less angular and harsh.

Lea: Middle eastern. Purple eyes. She has light brown hair in a ponytail. From her mouth down she's wrapped in bandages. She wears a white martial arts gi with the stitching along the hem in red and green. She wears leather sandals.
>>
Tara: Pick a minotaur girl fetish picture. (Preferably with clothes on) Any will do. Give her red eyes, and small surgical scars along her mouth, nose, and eyes. Dyed purple hair, and a big ass iron club.

Isen: There's a saying, 'It's fine to be 50, unless you act like your twenty.' For Isen it should be 'It's fine to be an average looking blonde knight...unless you act like you've got the looks of Johnny Depp and the charm of John Barrowman, and can jump into the pants of any girl you see.' Chain mail, sword and shield. His colors are royal blue and gold. A face that launched a thousand slaps...and came back for more.

Julian: Think of the word Paladin, what image comes to mind when you think of that in terms of a male human? Make his hair grey in a tight, small, ponytail, and give him an eyepatch on his right eye. That's Julian. Lots of silver.

Soon the Ghouls will taste the fury of the Dawnlickers

>>23736425
Okay, this is how the Dawnchaser's mad run to the park is going to work.

There are six obstacles between you and the park. You have to clear all of them. For each obstacle I'll give you two obvious options to take to clear it, each will take a check. You pass it, you move to the next one, you fail it and the Ghouls get a point, and you have to try again. You want the Ghouls to have as FEW points as possible, or you're going to be VERY unhappy when you reach the park.

Here's the extra bits though that might make it easier:
1) Ssen MUST do one option every turn, some options are better suited for her than others and will grant bonuses to your roll.

2)You can assign one of your party members to do the other option. This is totally optional.

3)If you both pass you skip one obstacle. (You'd go from 1 to 3)

4) If there's one success and one fail, you move to the next obstacle, but the ghouls get a point.

5) If you both fail, the ghouls get a point, you have to try again, and someone in the party takes a wound going into the park.

6)Some of your party members are better suited to some tasks than others. For example, if you had to deal with a huge cloud of flies, using Tricia would grant a +5 bonus, using Mage a +1, Mari would get no bonus.

6)You can't use the same companion twice in a row. You can keep using them for the same obstacle though, if you fail.

Any questions?
>>
>>23736567
Oh one last thing, if you come up with your own original solution that I like and would work, you move on automatically, no check needed.
>>
>>23736584
Let's do this and probably roll lots of 1s.

>>

>>23736609
>>23736637
Okay! That's what I like to hear!

1: Fallen Arches

The Ghouls have caused a lot of property damage, the road you're running down used to be an elegant row of columns and arches, some with Second Age tiles, now one of those huge marble columns lies directly across your path. There's no way around it. It fills the entire width of the street, and it's wedged into the walls and is as big as a full grown tree.

1) Climb over it.

2) There's enough clearance below to try and get under it.
>>
>>23736352
>Derp. This is what I get for not double checking.

While we're on that topic.
>Lamia Child Quest 7
OP, this is thread 8. There are already 7 archived.

Please keep in mind on archival.
>>
>>23736761
Yeah, I'm a dumbass. I think my irish dna is punishing me and my brain for not being drunk yet.
>>
>>23736736
We're probably the best shot at getting under.
Maybe have Peri try to climb over? She's probably decent at that.
>>
>>23736736
Ssen's snakiness probably makes her well suited for wriggling underneath.

As for climbing over, Lea's very acrobatic, so she could probably clamber over without too much trouble.
>>
>>23736736
Okay, attempting lateral thinking: Marble contains calcium. Maybe we can bite it and make the pillar really weak so we can just smash through. Or maybe that will just hurt our teeth.
>>
>>23736794
We'd want to go over as well, if its a trap it might be rigged to drop on anyone trying to go under.
>>
>>23736809
I don't think we've got enough for a massive marble column.
>>
>>23736819
No traps, honest. Both options are valid ways across, just some are easier than others for some people.
>>
>>23736809
You could try that...and then you'd be visiting the Cups Healers for some extremely severe dental work.
>>
>>23736837
Under it is then, we're probably the best climber. how big is a fully grown tree? how much space is under it?
>>
>>23736837
crawl under it for us.
>>
>>23736809

Don't bite, spit/drip it over it.
>>
>>23736832
We don't need to dissolve the whole thing. Just weaken a section enough to break easily.

>>23736866
We could stretch a bit of leather over the top of a jar and bite into that to fill the jar with poison, and then pour it on the marble. No teeth breakage.
Okay, poisoning the rock is not my best idea ever, I admit.
>>
>>23736890
Okay, so you guys are crawling under. I heard a vote for Peri to jump it and one for Lea to jump it. More for that option, or play it safe?
>>
>>23736936
play it safe, but we can use our tail to help pull others through under it.
>>
>>23736936
We all have to get past it, right? The others seem like they'd have an easier time over than under.
>>
>>23736897
>>23736931
Because our venom is totes gonna work on a inorganic structure.

It won't
>>
>>23736990
It's just one check. Presume that you wiggle through and they all follow after you. Don't worry about getting everyone through every obstacle. You pass and EVERYONE moves on.
>>
>>23736936
I second Lea going over.
>>
>>23737061
Go under. Play it safe.
>>
>>23737020
It dissolves calcium and cartilage and turns your skeleton to mush while completely ignoring flesh and organs and stuff. It's not exactly a normal poison. I don't see why it wouldn't dissolve inorganic calcium just the same. Calcium is calcium.
>>
>>23737154
Even if it does, it's unlikely we have enough venom in our body to melt a significant amount of this pillar. We might pit the surface slightly, I suppose.
>>
>>23737095
Okay, so you're committed to option 2. I'm getting a three-way tie between Peri, Lea, and playing it safe.

Oh yeah, play this on a loop. This is the Battle of Stone Hall chase theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjhCGnoikWc
>>
>>23737154
because there is nothing to spread it around the column, it would be like trying to melt through an engine block with an acid drip, you CAN do it, but it would take fucking forever and would take gallons of acid.
>>
>>23737222
This is the best reason for why the poison idea is not going to be a viable option. Yes, it would work...but it'd take a day or two at least. You don't have that time.

Nice idea though. I wont deny that.
>>
Ssen under, Lea over.

I assume you'll want dice?
>>
burn hand/foot holds into the pillar with the venom?
>>

>>
>>23737318
Fuck yeah!
>>
>>23737363
Didn't say it was a GOOD option, just an option.
>>
Sound suppression spell? Or even better, Rock to Mud.
>>
>>23737185
We've done this bit of the argument already. If we can dissolve a whole skeleton then that's more than just pitting the surface.

>>23737222
Marble is very porous. The venom would soak in and take out one of the main minerals making it up along the way, weakening the structure a lot. Then we smash it. It would still take an awful lot longer than just sliding under it, sure.

Anyway, we appear to be through now. Yay for awesome rolls.
>>
>>23737318
You and Tricia both dive under the pillar, not breaking stride at all. Lea and Peri leap up onto the top, spin around and pull Mage up. They hit the ground and you keep running.

3. Why did the Lamia cross the road?

You run into a little trouble. You have to cross one of the main roads to get to the next side street path. Unfortunately there's a heated battle between the lizard people and the ghouls right in your way.

1) Push your way carefully though the lizards

2) Fight through the ghouls

Otherwise, let's push through the lizards.
>>

>>
>>23737484

Mage gets pissed at seeing Tricia hurt. He does his Stone to Mud trick on the road. Half of the ghouls sink into the ground and the other half slip and fall.

You bid the lizard folk a cheery wave as they start into the hapless ghouls and you take off. You've certainly made up for the lost time.

5. FIRE IN THE HOLE!

- - GCS Leviathan, lead ship of the Grand Citadel Armada.- -

"Paladin Odette," Admiral Baker salutes the Paladin coming aboard. "Your orders?"

"We need to start to shell the city." She says.

"What?"

"Just a little, we have found a way inside, but we need to break up the larger groups of the Ghouls, help our forces by breaking their lines." She says.

"Of course, READY THE CANNONS!" He yells.

Odette takes a spy glass from a sailor and looks, she smiles when she sees her target. "14 degrees west, 26 north." She says.

"14 west, 26 north!" The Admiral shouts.

"Fire." She says.

"FIRE!"

- - Back with the Dawnchasers. - -

"Oh shit!" Tricia points. You all see the red hot spheres that are arcing through the air...towards your location.

"Hide There! There! And There! NOW!" Mari yells pointing as she takes her own position.

You snatch Lea out of harms way and flatten the both of you against a wall. Tricia grabs mage and they dive under a fruit stand. The smell of rotting oranges is horrific, but better than death.

The world turns into loud thuds and a lot of smoke, but you and Lea don't even get a pebble tossed at you. You can feel Lea's heartbeat as she holds onto your coil.

"Everyone good?" You hear Mari ask when the dust clears a little and the ringing in your ears stops.

"We're fine." Lea says.

"We're good." Mage says.

"Okay," Peri says. "Let's book!" You all take off.

- - CMS Leviathan - -

"Damn." Paladin Odette says softly. "That's enough Admiral. We've done what we can for now."

Congratulations, you've reached the Park. You can clearly see the Conclave building. Even better is that you got there ver quickly. Only a few ghouls saw you all long enough to figure out where you were headed and get reinforcements to meet you here.

There's two alpha ghouls, they look human-ish, but their leg muscles are grossly over developed, and their faces keep twitching. They have swords. There's also a fleshshaper mage, with a morning star supporting them. Along with a bone bow archer.

Also there are three Converted ghouls. They look like regular citadel citizens, shirt, pants, the woman wears a dress. Their eyes are glazed over and there's bloodstains around their mouths and on their clothes. They've been eating well. They carry kitchen knives and cleavers. Tricia tries to send a fly swarm at the other two Converted.

Mage shoots at the Fleshshaper mage who is using a morningstar.

The swordsman goes for Peri.

The archer shoots at you.
>>
>>23738998
Wow that's... not good.
>>
>>23738998
The converted misses, but your dodge get you stuck with an arrow.

Peri gets slashed by the twitchy sword man.

Tricia has her cloud of flies descend upon the Converted. They're going to be busy swatting the little darlings out of their eyes, or trying to eat them.

Mage nails the fleshshaper with a lightning bolt.

The converted is busy with Tricia's flies.

You miss the archer, and the alpha ghoul...twitches...and where you were certain that he was, now he's just to the side.

Peri double slashes at her alpha ghoul.

Your alpha ghoul attacks you.

The fleshshaper swings his morning star. The archer's hands start to tremble and bulge with boils.

Lea goes for the Alpha attacking Peri.

The Converted are still under Tricia's fly swarm.

Tricia tries to keep her swarms focused, and now biting.

Mage keeps assaulting the Flesh shaper.

Peri's alpha keeps attacking her.

The boils on the archer erupt, and this red goo starts to drip from his hands, and all over his arrows. He shoots one at you.

Also, Tricia's still got her flies behaving. The Converted are still overwhelmed, and they suffer wounds from biting flies.

The Converted are busy experiencing an Egyptian facial.

The alpha bothering you is still trying to kill you.

The fleshshaper gestures, and his body starts to grow fur and his teeth shift. You've seen that transformation before. Mage's uncle. The fleshshaper's eaten troll and is bringing him out.

Lea sees this and goes for him.

The Converted still have Tricia's swarm ruining their picnic.

Tricia tries to keep the shoe-flies bothering them.

Mage shoots a fire bolt at the fleshshaper. He knows what's going to happen too.

The archer shoots another goop arrow at you.
>>
>>23739576

I remember a couple threads back when he went from rolling all of them himself to letting us roll for Ssen/other stuff he said he would take the first linked roll.

That said I don't want to be a stickler because he has been quite flexible (to our benefit) thus far, so if it was actually a mistake I won't make a big deal about it.
>>
Rolled 14, 5, 3, 11, 6 = 39

Okay, good news first.

If you consider the Converted to be the ghouls' 'First Born Children' then the final plague is made incarnate in Tricia. They drop to the ground, flies feasting on them. They twitch and spasm, but they aren't getting up.

You also don't have to worry about the fleshshaper. Lea knocked him back so that his head impacted with Mage's fireball. He's gone.

Bad news, really really bad news.

You're on the ground. You're bleeding heavily. You can't move.

Peri screams and charges at the bowman. Something weird happens too. Peri's left handed. Her right hand pulls out the crossbow and fires at the alpha. Mari's right handed.

The alpha drops his sword and puts his hands around one of your arms, he licks his lips and you see his filed teeth look very sharp.

Lea tackles him, full on berzerk.

Tricia also screams and goes for the alpha. Mage loses it too. He doesn't even cast a spell, he's trying to beat the fucker to death with his staff.

The bowman tries to shoot Peri/Mari, without the Fleshshaper, he's lost his poison.

The alpha tries to get Lea to stop bothering him via sword.

Lea's rebuttal in that debate is to try and punch him in the throat.

Tricia goes to you. "No, no no no nonono." She holds you up. "Okay...okay...I can do this...this is druid 101, and you're...not human...so maybe this will work." She holds you and starts to hum.

Mage is still trying to get his first melee kill.

You fell something though. A surge of energy, and you can move again, also you can see some of your wounds clotting.

"Ah!" Tricia gasps. She looks at you, ears in her eyes. "I did it...I did it! Whoo...dizzy...but I did it!" She kisses you on the lips. Yeah, remember way back when she kissed you and it was nothing? Not this time. But time for that later, trying to not die now.

"Guys!" You yell. "I think you got him."

They stop. "He hurt you!" Tricia yells.

Mage is still pounding away, Lea grabs his arm, and he blinks. "Oh...wow...that was...something." He says. "We get 'em?"

She nods.

"Okay..." Mage winces, he pulled somehting during his rage, and everyone else looks pretty banged up too. "This is gonna be really really gross...but hold on." He goes to the fleshshaper and searches him. "I didn't take this from the others, because they're disgusting...but desparate times. Ah...got em." He turns around. He's got some small vials. They're filled with a black substance.

"It's troll blood. A quick fix...healing potions for ghouls. I know how to activate it, too." He looks at you. "There's enough to get everyone in fighting shape again...and it isn't human...and it's just a little blood. "You guys okay with this?" You ask.
They all look at each other. Lea shakes her head. "I can't. I'm fine anyway...but I could never use Ghoul magic." She nods. "But I understand that you need it." She turns her head so she doesn't watch. "I pray to you in His Light, forgive us our actions in our struggle against the Darkness. They know what they do, and they accept the consequences."

"Okay. Do it, Mage." You say.

Mage passes out the vials, you and the others, save Lea, drink. It's not horrific, but you wouldn't want to drink it regularly.

Mage waves his staff and suddenly...oh in His Light...that's one of the best feeling rushes you ever had. You can feel your body put itself back together. Though...well, while this feels really incredible, and your whole body tingles, Tricia's healing aura felt 'better' somehow.

"Okay," Peri says. "Lets never have to do that again."

"Come on...that was just the opening act." Mari says. She points at the Conclave building. "We've got the big show now."

- -GCS Leviathan- -
Paladin Odette closes her spyglass. "Interesting."

You all cautiously approach the Conclave building...the front steps are covered with Ghouls, Savages, converted, alphas, and a few Leaders. They're...waiting for you. They stand on the steps, looking at you, and they form an aisle, leading up to the front doors.

An alpha who keep running his tongue across his lips steps up. "The Fell King will take audience with you." He says, and gestures for you to go on inside.

"Ssen, you know that's probably the stupidest thing we could do, right?" Mage says.

Then again, all we know is that we had a mission, we had just nearly gotten killed by a friendly artillery barrage, and we ourselves nearly got killed. So I'm kind of hoping she tries something, because our explanation would end up implicating her in an attempt to murder us.

You all start to walk up the steps to enter the Conclave. The Ghouls are kind enough to open the doors for you.

"I dont know if I could stomach sucking up to the Ghoul King."

"Well, focus on the idea of sticking a sword into his stomach." Mage says.

It's a horror show inside the Conclave. The alphas and leaders are cooking using long spits that they turn very carefully and slowly.

The fires they use are made from them burning the books from the library. Lea's hand clenches. "These are not people." She mutters. "His Light guide us through the Darkness, and show us the strength to brave the things that dwell within."

"I'm never going to be able to sleep again." Tricia says. "Even the roaches here are frightened of what's going on."

The Fell King's court is in the grand lecture hall, now refitted into a throne room. He sits upon a chair that looks like the same one Overseer Trivalon had, only this one is brown. Desks and chairs are piled up behind him haphazardly. A huge fire has been built out of the center of the room. Books, desks, and you can even see bones crackling and burning within the fire. The walls are covered with red sigils, none of which you recognize.

"Always considered yourself the artist, didn't you Father?" Mage sighs. "He always thought that the Ghouls needed a logo."

The Fell King himself isn't as imposing as you thought he would be. Oh, he's a big guy, make no mistake, but just 6' 11''. He's muscular, but not overly or disformed like his followers. He's wearing light brown trousers, and a stag's skull on his head.

He's cradling a baby in his arms. The little one is sucking on a thumb...not her own.

He looks up. "Joshua." He says in a calm and level voice. "Welcome to your new home."
>>
Ignore the name, it isn't his anymore. He is Mage.

Alright we need to get closer. So approach. How many people are close to him.
>>
>>23741380
"Say hello to your big brother, Abel." The Fell King says. Then he hands the baby to a woman who disappears as quick as she had appeared. He motions for you all to come closer. "Let me see you, boy. The progress of the prodigal."

Mage gawks and shakes his head. "What? No...how?" He looks at the rest of you. "This can NOT be my Father."

"That is an unkind thing to say." The Fell King takes off his skull crown. There's no doubting it, the nose, the eyes, and the ears that stick out. Family resemblance is an absolute. "I am your father, Joshua."

"That's not my name." Mage says through clenched teeth.

"Yes. It is." The Fell King says.

"How?" Mage says as you slowly approach. You can see two people standing in the darkness. They're both Leaders, and one of them is wearing the robes of a flesh shaper. "You...you can't be the same person."

"Why not?" He asks.

"Because you were nine feet tall covered in calluses, and conversed by way of violence or rape!" Mage says.

He nods. "Yes, I know...that was before I was given a second chance. My body and my mind were renewed and I saw the great Fell Hind before me." He nods. "He spoke to me, told me to gather our people, and take this city. Behold! Look at what I have done." He gestures. "Mighty Grand Citadel has lost."

No matter how you play it death and combat is ugly. Honor is needed yes but when you fight you fight with everything you have. If you have your coils you use them. Poison is no different.

As long as we don't eat him afterwords its just one more weapon.
>>
>>23742344
actually, we're just worried it's not worth using them in combat at all.

We should check with the naga or a biology book to see if our fangs regrow. If they do, then poison would suddenly be viable.

this, by the "no using venom" arguement, we wouldnt be allowed to constrict.

That is just as bad of a fate to have the life literally crushed out of you, snapping all of your bones in the process, hell just look what we did to the archer, or our first kill.

There is nothing evil about using our completely NATURAL venom bite in a combat situation.

Coating our sword/arrowheads in the stuff, eating our intelligent enemies afterward, or using it out of combat, I would however probably consider to be an evil action.

Just because we are a paladin does not mean we need to are a Nice Guy(Girl). Combat is always ugly, holding back because the kill is 'nasty' is something that gets people killed.
>>
>>23742582
>Combat is always ugly, holding back because the kill is 'nasty' is something that gets people killed.

So is attacking with your face vs someone with a weapon.
>>
we're literally snake-quick when it comes to biting someone. MOst people won't have time to react.
>>
>>23742678
Most of the things we're fighting aren't normal people. Sticking our head out to bite someone when we have no idea of their capabilities is a good way to get decapitated.
>>
By that reasoning we shouldn't be wrapping things in coils either... but it works regardless.
>>

Even on marble columns? (though that was silly)
Or making it into antivenin? (though that might not work if every lamia's is different)
Well, there has to be some sort of nice use for the stuff.

Weighing in on as a lurker/lamia image poster since thread 1, I would rather we didn't bite the fucker. Not out of moral superiority, but we have no idea what foul shit they used to change him, and I'd rather not have it affect us. I'm not saying we should never bite anyone, but on the other hand, we are trying to make a good impression, and reducing our enemies to lumps of jello is exactly the sort of ammunition people like Bobbi who want to see us fail need.

Bite when absolutely necessary to our survival.

I think the crux of the issue is the warning that our lovely naga said about others who tried to devour the world. Its more of a warning against falling to our natural instincts. The wrapping is an adaptation of a natural instinct in that we use it for combat as opposed to simply hunting prey. I think we should... civilize it? Perhaps it is the wrong word but nonetheless, I would refrain from using it now lest we give off the impression we are a barely civil beast. Something akin to the blade mentioned before, or a more refined method of delivery would be better.
>>
>>23743013
it sounds like the warning was more giving in to our baser instincts, ie we enjoyed the sounds of bones going crack when we constricted, and i think we had urges to eat them afterwards.

as long as we dont give in to the hunger and actually eat our prey we should be fine.

You know, make her hair more grey and give her some eye lines and laugh lines and that's pretty close to Granny.

Mage shakes his head. "You...spoke to the Fell Hind?" He says.

Then the King's head twitches...but it isn't the kind of spasms that the alpha ghouls do. It's...it's hard for you to understand what you saw, but if we could use modern terms it was as if there was a jump cut with his face.

"-seek a home of our own! We are barbaric, because Grand Citadel has made us barbaric, you cannot tell me that with your own eyes how they simply do not care about the smaller ones? When your Jubilee was attacked..."

He pauses.

"That was not my people. I executed them." He says suddenly. "But when it burned, where was Citadel? Nowhere."

His face jump cuts again. "Hello Noah, do you like your new home?" He asks.

"What. Just. Happened?" Tricia asks.

"You bicker and squabble against yourself, what hope to you have against me and my people! We are one! We are whole!"

"Hello Joseph, Noah, Cain, Abel, Joshua, welcome to your new home."

He sits back down in his throne and puts his elk mask back on. The woman from the shadows walks forward again and puts the baby in his arms again.

The others all take a step back. This is officially freaking everyone out.

Lea pauses and then licks her lips. "The Teachings." She says.

"-you believe in that foolishness!" The Fell King yells. He's still gently playing with the baby. "Dusty words written in dusty tomes by old men who came up with a way to shackle the world. My land has no need for those things, ours is a healthier culture, a living culture. Our wisdom moves through us..."

Tricia looks at Lea and then to the King and then to you. She says "Cannibalism."

"There are countless species that eat their own." A pause. He laughs. "Eat We What Say Are Can..."

The woman comes and takes the child away again.

"Father," Mage says. "Oh by the Light, and even your Fell Hind, oh Father what has happened to you?" He's horrified.

There the world looks purple for a moment and you taste what green sounds like.

"Hello, 'Lightbringers'..." The Fell King says from his throne. "Welcome to my home."

"This is a new one." Peri says.

Tricia sighs and turns around to stretch. "Great, so we can't even ki-OH CRAP!"

You all spin around. At the entrance to the lecture hall there's a woman standing there. She's dressed in black robes, has long wild brown hair, and her mouth is smeared with blood. She has a magic staff chained to her arm with a shackle. It looks like a bronze tree branch that supports a silver sphere. She's holding her staff up in the air and there's a large glow coming from the sphere. She slams it down onto the ground, and the room fills with light...you can't move again, but this isn't like the poison where your body's muscles just were over taxed and stunned...this is as if a million hands were gently holding you in place.

"Hopefully I can now force this nonsense back into just this room. The Ghouls on the steps are far too hungry and useful to just leave there, waiting to let people inside." She chuckles. "You know, I think I saw the ones that Father keeps pretending to talk to, once. They were barely any good, all I had to do was to poison the healing supplies they brought with them, basic ghoul spell." She shakes her head. "Don't worry brother. >>
>>23744984
nah, letting her go with the staffs leaves a bad taste in my mouth
>>
>>23744984
Bitch is going down.
>>
>>23744900
She's hot, but fetishes aside: likeable? No.

Smite

We should at least give her the offer to walk away. Her brother was able to. She's clearly more rational and self-controlled than the other ghouls. She always has the option to walk away from this.
>>
>>23745582
Mage never grew to enjoy eating people though.
>>
>>23745607
True, but just because you enjoy it doesn't mean you can't stop. Hell even the cannibalism doesn't bother me as much as the burning and killing.
>>
>>23744539
If you'd like to confess your sins, I'll listen.

New thread somewhere? Or is Echo gone?
>>
>>23745821
He got eaten.
>>
we are almost on page 9, we will need a new thread to continue much longer.

Im assuming Echo is afk or done for now, an hour since last post. Archive is updated to this point.
>>
I am saddened by the lack of Echo...
>>
>>23745975
hopefully, it's a minor problem.

Hopefully, he didn't get struck by lightning

I am betting he fell asleep, he ran the last thread till 7am est this morning before he called it to sleep, and this one started at ~1:45 est, so at most he got 6 1/2 hours.

So, while he's gone, who's actually played a naga/lamia in a game? How'd it go? Do you enjoy seeing lamias/nagas elsewhere?

I've played a Shinomen Naga in the past, and it was fun. I rather fondly remember using Coiling Oracle when it was still in Standard, and I must admit, if there was a minor race of snake-people in 40K I'd run whatever army had them for no other reason.
>>
>>23746109
I'll be honest /tg/, I have no idea what the difference is between them.

forgive me...
>>
>>23746166
There isn't a meaningful, cross-setting difference.

Its mostly interchangeable given how varied the lore is, however naga are usually used to denote the more... snakelike ones, like pic related, or the ones with hoods, while lamia are generally women with lower bodies of snakes. At least in most recent uses of it.
>>
>>23746177
oh ok, thanks.

To answer you original question, I do like seeing them in this kind of setting where it raises questions about societal views on "personhood." And snake people are more interesting than just elves and dorfs.
>>
>>23746209
Though that's not always the case. Lo5R's nagas aren't particularly reptilian, though some subspecies are more reptilian than others.
>>
>>23746109
I've only played nagas in roguelikes and such. In tabletop, they always have level penalties or something, and you're meant to play one of the races without any powers.

That's why I said usually. Lamias are also a clusterfuck of different things as well.
>>

In my case, it was a dm houserule that basically amounted non-casters picking up "race levels", so we could match the spellcasting classes.

My snakegirl factotum/iaijutsu master actually ended up being the most universally useful character in the party.
>>
>>23746721
well, it'd be fun to play out, if it actually mattered. There's tons of advantages and disadvantages there for something like a naga, that really isn't expressed in a +2 or -2 so well.

Hope you stop being passed out or mauled by dogs or whatever soon, OP.
>>
>>23746789
Yeah, and the major disadvantage is that people scream at you about it being "fetishy".

Then again, I could play a completely average, normal human and someone would STILL think it was some kind of fetish.

Also, my challenge image was "encircling howeak".

Yes, Captcha, the lack of encircling going on here is weak.
>>
>>23746897
eh, I like advantages/disadvantages more similar to:
weighs a fucking ton, can throw their weight around
Weighs a fucking ton, cannot ride a horse
Large constrictor body, can crush people
large constrictor body, always getting hit by stray arrows due to sheer size

etc
