>Behind you, Einstein hovered. You could check his data at any time, you knew: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

There was a loud whistle as the capacitors charged, and when Anna nodded, you pulled the trigger. The gun jerked in your hands - but only slightly - as it fired a paint slug into the target. For a moment, you wonder why they call it 'firing', since it's all magnetically propelled.
"Now, in my experience, during a firefight with aliens, Murphy's Law is in effect." Anna was saying, as you held the small handgun in both hands. "If there's even the slightest possibility they can flank you, they will. Demiurg like to melt through walls to get around you. And when you're not firing, *keep* your hand off the trigger."
Somewhat sheepishly, you move your fingers, and she nodded again. "That should be it, for now. All you really need to do now is practice with this for a bit, and then I can move you up to something bigger. But anyway, you want to grab some dinner?" She asked.
>>
>>23682693
I'm not sure I want something bigger. Unless I can strap it to Einstein.

Let's get dinner!

Is our gun a robbit? Try to technopathise with it.

this talk to our gun
>>
You look down to the gun, and try to technopath with it.. but it's only response was that it had a duty to do, ma'am.
"I'm not sure I want something bigger." You say. "Unless I can strap it to einstein."
"Well, that's your perogative." Anna said.
"Let's get dinner! Ever had spaghetti? Or pizza?"
"I've had pizza, but not spaghetti." Anna said, and the two of you walked out of hydroponics and down the ladder, where the two marines stood.
The marines eyed Anna warily as you walked.
"Think I could catch one of the shots with telekinesis?"
"It's faster than you can see." Anna said. "I think you'd run into conceptual problems. I heard from Summer that she can't manifest guns for that same reason."
>>
>>23682739
Yes, gun drones. We will build all of the gun drones. Just like marines except they don't need air or food or gravity and they can't get mind controlled.

"Maybe if I can project a field that slows down bullets, or just a TK shield of sorts."

>>

>>23682864
Maybe I can make an area when everything gets TK'd. Some sort of speed limit, maybe, and block bullets like that.

Tell our gun that it's job is to protect us, and it would be best if it didn't let anyone else shoot it at us.
>>
>>23682864
"Hmm. Speaking of strapping guns to Einstein..."

Wander off into a haze of engineering.
>>
>>23682864
"Oh! I wonder if my black hole thingy can catch bullets?"
>>
>>23682934
"Einstein, look into self awareness upgrades."
>>
"Maybe if I can project a field that slows down bullets, or just a TK shield of sorts."
"I actually know a bit about TK." Anna said. "Mostly since my counselor gave me all the data they had on it, hoping it'd help me. There's no such thing as passive TK, that slows things, or shields.Defensive TK is all reactive. So maybe if you got really good reflexes or clairvoyance... but you wouldn't be able to do it with TK alone."
"That's a shame." You say, and the two of you made your way into the cafeteria. "I'll have to figure out how to shape the annihilation spheres into a shield, eventually."
"The what?" Anna asked, with two plates of spaghetti.
"The black hole thingy. I wonder if it can catch bullets."
"... The what?" Anna asked.
"Heather has some sort of really advanced TK thing." Summer said, her manifestation sitting down next to the two of you, her hair as fluffy and as messy as it's ever been, bangs over her eyes. "She can basically create a pocket black hole. Max wanted me to tell you that the byproduct isn't actually breaking down into radiation like they thought."
>>
>>23682988
"Oh? It's still giving off energy then? I think I might have invented a new power source!"
>>
>>23682988
"Then what does it do? Can it be used like a energy source? Fuel?"
>>
>>23682988
Unfortunately using it for however short an amount of time completely drains me dry and I basically just pass out.

It will be a nice way to get to sleep though. No more sleeping pills.

Has anyone tried prodding the crystal with their minds?
>>
>>23682988
"Just leftover heat and radiation from the compression, then? That makes sense."
>>
"Oh? It's still giving off energy, then? I think I might have invented a new power source!"
"It ran out of charge a while ago." Summer said. "If you want it, they'll give it to you. It's inert now."
Anna watched as you twirled your fork, trying to duplicate the manuvuer.
"Has anyone tried prodding the crystal with their minds?"
"... The scientists aren't psionic, Heather." Summer giggled.
"This is good!" Anna said. "Not sure I like all the tomato sauce, though."
>>
>>23683087
Oh dear. Everything has tomato sauce in it these days.

Try adding more cheese.

"Einstein, ask Dr Manus to send the crystal thing to my workshop."
>>
>>23683087

"Try adding more cheese." You say. "And there's other sauces. There's pesto, and cheese sauce, and white sauce..." You say, trailing off.
"I'll try that next time, then." She said.
"Einstein, ask Dr. Manus to send the crystal thing to my workshop."
"Message sent."
"Wanna go see the mystery object after you're done, Anna?"
"Might as well."
"And how much do you know about ships? I plan to make a small one like yours eventually, so I'm wondering if you can help."
"I know how to fly one." Anna said. "But that's pretty much it. I do have a friend who can get you parts, like a bubble drive and engines on the cheap. Maybe even free, if I count it as one of the favors he owes me."

"You would." She said, and shot you a mischevious grin.

You grab Anna and Summer by the wrists, and drag them away from the table.
"Let's go!" You say, and rush down to the workshop.
"You realize that this is just my manifestation, right?" Summer asked. You drag her regardless.

Sarvesh was in there, with his large four fingered hand attached to his cybernetic wrist, the fingers wiggling.
"Oh, hello." He said, turning. He waved with his new upper arm, and then wiggled his fingers.

"Einstein, download some ship schematics for common, and new to market, three-crew ships."
"Downloading."
"Hello, Sarvesh. I'm stealing back my workshop. You can stay, but if you get in my way I'm working over the top of you!"
Sarvesh looked at his own abdomen.
"I'm very convex, though. It might become difficult." He said. "I'm afraid I wouldn't be a very good workspace."
"I made some weird object today, and now we're going to see what it does." You say. "Did a package arrive for me?"
"Right here." He said, brandishing a thumb toward a strange canister, covered in readouts, temperature gauges, radiation gauges. Nothing seemed to be dangerous, so you twist it open, and an iris compartment in the side opened, showing you the perfectly spherical white crystal inside.
"It's glowing." Sarvesh said, and tilted his head. "In a pale ... almost bhraskh color."
"In a what color?" Summer asked.
"It's in ultraviolet." Sarvesh responded. "Almost a bit reddish."

>It's based on how the centaur visual cortex works.

You nudge it with TK, and it moves just as it should - though it seemed incredibly heavy for it's small size.
"Einstein, contact the techs and ask them for any materials data they have."
"Materials data has been found within the container." Einstein said, and chirped towards the canister itself.
You reach out toward the canister, and read the data. Apparently it was some new, superheavy material. The scientists left notes claiming that it should break down at any time, but surprisingly, it seemed stable. It was too dense for them to damage it in any way, and it looked like it was perfectly, utterly perfectly spherical at the molecular level.
You nudge it. Nothing happens. So you lick it.
And it zaps you. Just static shock, it felt, but your tongue went entirely numb.
"Anna, can you heat it up?" You ask, licking your lips
Anna nodded, and steam started raising from the sphere. The readouts claimed that the temperature was raising.
"It's heating up fine. I don't want to heat it too much, though."
You nod, and then nudge it with technopathy.
It didn't seem to respond. It responded like if you'd tried to technopath an inert piece of metal.

We need to see if we can use it in some kind of weapon. But the scientists should continue checking it out first before we do anything with it and find out more about it. We don't want to accidently destroy the world or something becasue we don't know what we're messing with.

"Because I did yesterday, and I don't want to annoy them." He said.
"I'm sure you'll see them again soon, Sarvesh! Aren't we allowed visitations or something like that?"
"I... I could pay for Pheles to come here for a day or so." Sarvesh said, thinking. Then he shook his head. "Regardless, back to the space ship."
"Do you have any tips on how to get cheap space ship parts?"
"Normally you can pay a wrecker to find an old ship somewhere." Sarvesh said. "Almost for free, actually. Just enough to cover how much they'd normally get for recycling it, and as much for the travel costs." He said. "You'd have to fix plenty of things up, but it'd certainly be much easier than making it from scratch. Really bad for atmospheres because there's no way to get a tug down to the planet, but here's the perfect place to get one."

"Hmm. Tempting. I still like the idea of making a custom ship better, than building on one, though." You say.
"Oh, alright, then." Sarvesh said. "My brother knows more about this, but... It'd cost nearly thirty thousand for the materials for a smallish hull, more for delivery, then maybe forty thousand for a small fusion engine, and based on how much thrust you want on it, it'd be anywhere from twenty to two hundred thousand for the engines... And not to mention the work."
He shrugged.
"Do you know any reputable wreckers? Or disreputable ones, for that matter?"
"I know a guy." Anna said. "At least, I have a feeling Weasel does. I can call him to make sure. He's the guy who might have a few spare bubble drives and engines. And he gives me access to weapons, too."

"Two engines..." He said, closing his eyes. "And two really big ion thrusters on the sides, with a really damn big .. uh, looks kind of like a solar panel, kind of rounded, on both the front and back?"
"Bubble drive." Anna said.
"Yeah, I see it. You really pull off that beret really well." He added. "It looks actually like you converted a really large shuttle into a ship. "... Does the beret have a snake skull on it?"
"Yeah." Damien said.

Bunk space for sleeping!
at least 4 chairs
enough storage so we don't just have to have green and brown stuff

We'll also need living quarters, food, and cargo space (those fall under hull, technically). Probably a custom helm setup, and weapons (or mounts for same, at least) are advisable as well.

Landing and reentry gear (if any), salvage gear (if any), docking gear (external).

Let's start with a basic (very fucking basic. we're going to change it later) hull map and then move on to Engines, followed by computers and Life Support.

Some kind of stasis chamber so that we can take nice food with us without it going off. Or a freezer if you're boring and want to have to reheat everything. None of that green or brown stuff is going anywhere near our ship.
Comfy beds, for sleeping in.
The hull should be extra-armored.
The bubble drive should be extra massive.
The thrusters should be fast and capable of VTOL.
Probably no weapons yet, but weapon mounts for later.

Very nice. you can see the drone bays along the back, and the grabby bit at the front.

It's even got a headlamp.
>>
"Science." You mumble, and then gently nudge Damien away from that corner of the room.
With quite a bit of work (and inadvertently awakening Summer) the two of you helped Anna and Damien to their beds, then made your ways to your own. You were asleep before you knew it.

WE ARE THE VOID QUEEN.
YOU SWIM THROUGH OUR INFINITE DEPTHS, SEEKING GOD'S THRONE.
THE THRONE IN WHICH WE SIT.
YOU AND YOUR KIND ARE MORTAL.
YOU SHALL ONE DAY DIE, EVEN IF WE MUST CAUSE IT TO BE.

You snap awake. Summer was out of her bed, and Einstein was beeping, warning you that it was breakfast time. Apparently his tip had updated, as well.

Hey Exabyte where does this crystal sit on the periodic table or is it some kinda new compound? I think it would be interesting to explore the applications this new material has.

Actually given that its half life is pretty high it's not one of the ones we already know about so it's probably above 118, probably has an atomic weight of above 300.

"Morning." Damien said, with a wave. He was trapped on the ground, with Summer sitting on his back. Her manifestation was frowning.
"I am *not* going to uplift another tiger like that." Summer was ranting, then she froze when you walked in. "Um. Morning."

"Morning summer! Morning, Damien. Has Damien been causing trouble again? Do you want me to hit him with a pillow?"
"You're implying that Summer doesn't double as a really comfortable pillow." Anna said, looking just as tired as you did, as she walked up behind you.
You shrug, and make your way to the kitchen, feeling two pairs of eyes following your legs, grabbing some cereal. Your first instinct was to grab some lobster, but then again, you'd always had lobster on Heaven's Jewel - you're not even sure why you thought that's what rich people ate.
"Summer, we're rich!" you say, cereal in hand.
"... What? Ten thousand isn't very much." Summer said, getting off of Damien.
"Maybe not to you." Damien said, brushing off the back of his shirt.

Summer giggled, and then grabbed her own food, and took a seat next to you, her manifestation tossing food behind her, where she caught it with her true body.
"... I'm not rich." Anna said, her eyes dark. "I'm still not, I mean. I'm just saying it isn't much in the big scheme of things."
Damien met her eyes - and Anna threw something at him and stormed out.

>>
>>23687974
I'm not; that last line was something someone said to me several threads ago when they though I didn't think about a post

and how else are they going to get here? is the school gonna fly in some (a) merc(s) so we can play hookie?

also unless there's really only one of them then the mission wasn't gonna happen anyway cause of wyvern being so small again...
>>
>>23688048
I would assume we are going to take the Wyvern out and meet Anna's old crew on-route, rather than waiting for them to get clearance to go through all the weapon platforms and such around the station.

I highly doubt they are going to bring a ship to the station.
>>
"So... It's going to be pretty obvious that it's us who stole it. and what, your dad has to stay in hiding for the rest of his life?"
"This is where the law is on our side." Anna said. "If we turn it on, then it's not property anymore, it's my dad. He'll be a citizen again. The reason we can't just go in there, turn it on, and leave, is because then they'll just turn it off again and pretend it never happened. So we have to take him with us."
"Wait a second, I forgot my interface." Summer said. "I'll be right back."
She loped down the hall, and Damien simply leaned back.
"How are your friends going to get here?" You ask.
"Well, actually, we'll be meeting them." Anna said. "There's a place where I can find Ox and Ferret's ship, and then we'll leave Wyvern there, take Ferret's ship, and we take that to Armatek's nexus."
"... I'm sorry, Anna, for what it's worth." Damien said, suddenly. "I didn't know that you were keeping things like this secret."
Anna shot him a glare.
"It's that you knew in the first place." Anna said. "You invaded my privacy."
Damien's expression didn't change.
"I can't control my eyes, you know." He said. "I see things without being able to control it."
Anna's eyes widened a fraction.

>>
>>23688114
I don't think it is. Technically they're keeping a powered down computer, there's no brain activity or sentience going on when the computer is off, once he's awake it's unlawful imprisonment.

At least that's what their lawyers would say.
>>
>>23688099
Has anyone thought of how we're going to bring him back? He lives in a supercomputer. We can't exactly stuff him in our gameboy.

Dictate to Einstein a transcript of our dream, send it to the doctor with a note: Maybe they're wholly psionic entities, a gestalt transition of a species into psionic space, or primarily psionic species based on a planet but mostly mucking around in psi-space? "Not the first time it's happened." Damien said. "It's fine."

Summer loped back, wearing some sort of high-tech collar.
"Okay, I'm ready." She said.

While you dictate your dream to Einstein, with those big, booming words, the group made their way up to the hub.
"This way, Damien." Anna said. Her tone had warmed considerably compared to the last time she spoke, and lead all of you into the Wyvern. "In there's the cargo bay. There should be a place to strap yourself down.
He nodded, and went into it.
"Anna, do you remember in the dream I had, I said there was that colony ship... do you think we could stop by and see if it's appeared yet?"
"Yeah, we could do that on the way back." Anna said, while she buckled herself into her chair, and Summer climbed into the bed.
"...You guys certain you want to help me with this?" Anna asked.
"I'm certain." Summer said.
"Might as well!" Damien called from the cargo bay.

Id rather check the ishelda alone so we don't get our friends wasted.
>>23688378
when did he say this? I thought it was supposed to be like the void queens mother ship.
>>
>>23688392
"Of course. You might need my technopathy to get him out."
>>
>>23688392
Of course.... well lets go.

Engage Bubble Drive!
>>
>>23688392
Don't even acknowledge the question.

"Can I drive?"
>>
>>23688411
he said he saw us on a giant ship along with people we'd chosen to come with us. I can't be bothered to search the archives but it was fairly soon after we arrived on the station.
>>
>>23688392
"If you need someone for heavy lifting, I think I might be able to handle it with TK."
>>
".. Can I drive?" You ask.
"No." She responded immediately. "No offense... but I'm the only one that flies the Wyvern."
"Well... let's go." You say, and then she slammed forward the thrusters and you all were jerked back in your seats.

Only then did you realize that you were still in your pajamas.

>End of thread!
>>
>>23688441
Doesn't mean we would be piloting it, hell we might be assaulting it.
>>
>>23688461
Pfft, who needs clothes? We'll be erasing their camera footage of the theft anyway.
>>
>>23688411
No. But the original link she put out was probably still there in dreamworld. So they vomitted out in the airlock.

We have a lot of dreams. Send another note to the doctor asking if he's ever heard of anything like dreamwalking. Ask Damien.

And so begins the fabled 'no underpants' adventure.

I do not regret causing this in the slightest
>>

As if there's any better outfit for corporate espionage than pajamas.
>>
>>23688461
"...I need clothes."
>>
>>23688499
lies. Summer can manifest us a space suit, if we need it, but we don't need shoes to raid a megacorp.
>>
>>23688530
>not using jackboots to pin the neck of the heartless asshat who made the decision to shut down the super computers in the first place

It's like you hate Anna and want her to be miserable forever or something.
>>
>>23688585
Asmodeus made the decision to shut himself down. And he doesn't have a neck.
>>
>>23688530
She can't manifest a gun, what makes you think she can do a space suit?
>>
>>23688758
I thought her problem with guns was that you can't see a bullet being fired, so she couldn't replicate a gun that actually worked.
>>
>>23688805
Which also may affect her ability to create other things, if she can't see how it works, then she won't be able to make it, at least thats what I got out of it.
>>
>>23688951
It's not just 'seeing' how it works, it's understanding on a *conceptual* level. She might be unable to do so with guns, but could understand with, say, a crossbow, or even a bubble drive if she was some sort of space/time savant. Which she isn't.
>>
>>23689023
So is the only reason she can create autonomous people because she understands who they are? Could she manifest a realistic Winter?
>>
>>23689053
>Could she manifest a realistic Winter?
She manifested a Winter realistic enough to fool their parents for years.
>>
>>23689053
Through Summer's twisted psychology, that's what her original manifestation *was*, in many ways.

Though she likely doesn't understand every process a person uses to live or move or breathe, she understands enough (That they should live, move, and breathe) that her subconscious can make the lateral leap and learn the rest of everything through clairvoyance, and bring it through into reality.
