(3 Fate Points)

House: Ravenclaw

Millicent is Anti-Social. This is the system-specific trait, not the popular definition of anti-social. She is not socially awkward, shy, or lonely; she actively hates people. But she is not a sociopath (she does feel emotions, and she does understand social expectations and rules, and does follow them, and is not manipulative; she just hates people).

However, being thrust into an environment where she MUST interact with people, no longer having the safe haven of her own room or of Dad and Mum, and with the threat of being disowned, has forced Millicent to begin accepting more people.

This does not mean that Millicent is lonely and wants friends for the sake of companionship or for the sake of friendship; she still feels hatred for people outside of the very small circle of family, familiar, doll, and acquaintance(s).

And that hatred will only subside with time, or her being forced to get to know the person better and becoming acclimated to them.

Her hatred isn't an uncontrolled thing either, unlike her fear of bodies of water or nausea regarding seafood; she can push down that hatred enough to work with people. People can do things they hate, and be unhappy with it but do it all the same.

Traits:
Near-Death
>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.
Hexer
>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.
Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.

You stand out from your hiding place and shout "Petrificus Totalus!"

Before Harriet can make her move your spell binds her arms and legs together as her wands falls from her grip and she falls onto her back with a thud.

"Millie!" shouts Olivia as she and the others run up behind you.

In the chaos of the moment you lost track of the cat which has disappeared.

Walking up to Harriet who lies blank faced as she looks up at the forbidden forest canopy, her eyes are white as it is clear some spell has been cast upon her.

"We have about thirty seconds before Gleesan arrives" says Joel "we've got to take her away from here now!"

Despite Joel and the worried Olivia and Nigel you decide it's best to wait for Mr. Gleesan. After a moment of waiting Joel retrieves his wand and whispers "Wingardium Leviosa!"

Harriet's rigid body soars into the air and strikes through the canopy where she floats like a log on water above, casting only the faintist shadow.

"Millie don't say anything" says Joel "trust me on this"

Mr. Gleesan stomps into view, wand drawn and axe in the other hand, he somewhat relaxes at the sight of you.

"What're you doing here?" he says, breathing hard.

"My cat, sir" you say, balling your hands into a fist as you stand with the others "ran away again, like last time"

Mr. Gleesan pockets his wand and scratches his head as he walks over.

"I'm going to have to tell the headmaster about this" he says "you're going to be in a lot of trouble for coming this far into the forbidden forest this time of night, it's forbidden for a reason, y'know? You're going to have to find your cat in the morning"

He clicks his fingers as he tells you to follow him out of the forest back into the school. As he turns away to walk back Joel points up at the canopy where Harriet slowly drifts across the sky in sync with Gleesan.

The mass of holes in the ground grow fewer and less common as you return to the edge of the forest and back to Gleesan's cottage. He steps onto his porch and opens his door, bathing you four in a square block of light emitting from inside.

"You best be off to the castle now" he says "If i have to come get you again I'll personally make sure you're expelled"

He closes the door behind him as he turns off the light inside. Joel, who has been concentrating on keeping Harriet in the air for the past five minutes, sweats profusely as she slowly descends to the ground.

The spell you cast seems to be wearing off as she twitches her head and flexes her fingers to be free. Her wand was left behind in the forest.

Her cold white eyes continue to look up at you without flinching.

Joel takes her by the legs and with a nod to Nigel he grabs her by the shoulders.

"We'll go to the Quidditch practice gardens" says Joel "we can interrigate her there"

Under the cover of darkness you head down to the Quidditch Gardens where you have your lessons with Professor Bergle. Joel takes the lead and bring you all round to the broom shed which offers a good cover from at least one direction, the other would need someone to be coming from the forest to see you.

Harriet shakes her head, her mouth forming ready to shout, her mud covered body ready to lunge at you the moment the spell wears off.

"What do we do?" asks Olivia, lip trembling.
"It's a spell right?" says Nigel, puffing his chest out "That means we need to break it"
"Does anyone know the spell?" says Joel, kneeling over Harriet.

You don't know any spell that could reverse this.

Harriet furrows her brow and and swallows as she thinks it over.

"This isn't the first time it's happened" she says "I've been waking up some nights covered in mud..." she laughs a little "I thought I was a werewolf"

"What about the cat?" says Nigel, stepping forward.

"Joel?" Harriet whispers as you make your way back to the forbidden forest.
"Yeah?"
"Do you know the Tergeo spell?"
"Yeah, my mother taught me it"
"Could you use it on me?"
"Sure"

Joel points his wand at Harriet and uses the "Tergeo" charm. Her bloodsplattered nose and mud covered robes become nice and clean in an instant.

"Thanks"
"No problem"

Olivia hums indecisively. Everyone looks at her. She draws her wand and points to Gleesan's cottage.

"Muffliato" she whispers "There, that should give us some room to talk"

With a thankful nod you carry on past the cottage and into the forest.

You tug on Harriet's robe and bring her to your side as you talk.

"What prize were you offered?"
"The Trident of Rowena Ravenclaw, you?"

"You think so?" she says, thinking back "I told him about the contest because I was worried I might get kicked off the cheering team if I was breaking any rules, he told me it was fine and all in good fun. Anyway when I said I wasn't going to do it anyway he insisted that I should"

Response:
Ask him if he told her that the contest should take precedent over her studies, or not.

Reasoning:
The real Tooledge asked us not to neglect our studies for the contest. The one who tried to fool us said the contest should become our top priority.
Ergo, depending on what he told her, we should be able to deduct if it was the real Tooledge, or not.

Some sort of robes, definitely. They should be in house colors, and maybe shorter so that it resembles a cheerleading skirt.
>>
"When was this?"
"The fourth day on the week we arrived"

"No, he made it clear that I should win the contest"

Events become even more serious in this moment as you miss a crucial blast sent hurtling for Olivia. You are almost unable to stop it before something inside of you snaps with rage.

"No!" you shout as you blast a car sized ball of flames straight for the elf, causing it's energy blast to spittle into nothing before the elf itself is crushed beneath the inferno, the tree behind it collasping from the impact as the forest catches a light.

"Millie?!" shouts Joel as he grabs you and runs with the others to Harriet's side. The tree collapses nearby as a forest fire starts.

"We need to get Harriet out of here!" shouts Joel of the roar of the flames. The other elf seems to have disappeared in the chaos, taking the other one with him.

With the wand within your grasp you don't waste a second as you run back to the others, the figure giving you chills down your spine. Harriet has woken up but she has a nasty gash on the back of her neck where blood trickles down her back.

"We need to get her medical attention as soon as possible" Joel says as he holds her up "I have a plan" he says, drawing his wand.

"Accio broom!"

Nothing seems to happen as Joel and the others quickly make for the otherside of the school before any students or teachers arrive. Then, from the air a busted old broom falls down by Joel's feet. He sits on it and puts Harriet infront of him as she tiredly holds onto it too.

"I'm going to take her to Professor Trib's potion's supplies" he says "I should be able to find the correct healing potion"

JOEL IS THE HEADMASTER IN DISGUISE
>>
>>23676315
Joel is actually being controlled, but with much more finesse; his spell list is far too advanced for a First Year.
Could he be a transfigured Auror or maybe he took a Potion of Youth?
>>
>>23676315
Nathaniel was buried somewhere in the Forbidden Forest, hence why why Harriet was being mind-controlled to dig holes out there.

The true target of Sam's poisoning was actually the house elves all along, as they are partnered with a third party(perhaps the Squib thief) that is after the Trident.
>>
>>23676354

>>
>>23676354
I believe this one.
>>
>>23676397
Of course Joel probably isn't a bad guy, but his behavior indicates that he's likely involved in some way and knows more then he's letting on. However, we aren't exactly aware of how he is involved; it could be cooperatively, it could be in opposition; it could be voluntary, or it could be involuntary. So it's alright to be a little paranoid until we figure things out. Of course, it's likely that he's actually going to end up as an informed ally.

Furthermore, it seems that whatever is behind all this is using/manipulating ALL of the contestants to get what they want, who "wins" doesn't matter. What reason, then, would there be to fuck us over? Especially when he's only figured out tonight that we suspect something is up?
>>
>>23676525
One thing we know - we have to be careful around both versions of the headmaster. And the ghost.

What if we subtly hint at Robert that we are looking for a crystal ball or a way to make a doll? Watch his reaction?

Or tell him stories about waking up covered in mud?
>>
>>23676525

>Mud
>Shaving foam smell

Depending on how things go, you're probably going to have to make her realize some things and then have us click the rest into place.

The problem with investigation heavy games is you kind of have to throw the players a revelation here and there if things start stalling or getting too slow. We're still only in the third week though, so I guess it's cool.

I don't think Trib is the one, she's too Snapey and "obvious". In the HP universe, it's always the teacher you least expect. Trib is probably a good guy agent, probably the most active one, because she was at the Sam crime scene.
>>
>>23677404
I'm considering that, but as the potions teacher she a little TOO Snapey for it to be that simple.

Regardless, she's someone who is very likely involved, and while investigating her might not lead to discovering she's the culprit, it will likely still give us new information and put us on the right track.
>>
The villain is using Harriet, and maybe used us, to look for the grave of the ghost.
The most likely suspect would be the slytherin contestant. Has any slytherin chracters other than Robert been introduced?
