(3 Fate Points)

House: Ravenclaw

Millicent is Anti-Social. This is the system-specific trait, not the popular definition of anti-social. She is not socially awkward, shy, or lonely; she actively hates people. But she is not a sociopath (she does feel emotions, and she does understand social expectations and rules, and does follow them, and is not manipulative; she just hates people).

However, being thrust into an environment where she MUST interact with people, no longer having the safe haven of her own room or of Dad and Mum, and with the threat of being disowned, has forced Millicent to begin accepting more people.

This does not mean that Millicent is lonely and wants friends for the sake of companionship or for the sake of friendship; she still feels hatred for people outside of the very small circle of family, familiar, doll, and acquaintance(s).

And that hatred will only subside with time, or her being forced to get to know the person better and becoming acclimated to them.

Her hatred isn't an uncontrolled thing either, unlike her fear of bodies of water or nausea regarding seafood; she can push down that hatred enough to work with people. People can do things they hate, and be unhappy with it but do it all the same.

Traits:
Near-Death
>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.
Hexer
>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.
Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.

You decide not to write the letter after all, remembering what dad said about not writing first unless they contact you. You wonder if they've had that party with your other relatives yet and how that may have changed their opinion on what to do with you. Maybe Maud knows.

The other three, whilst they're here, send letters home to their friends and families, the owls soaring into the distance away from the school.

You ask Olivia who she's sending her letter to.

Nothing worth noting it seems. You consider asking about muggle telephones, those strange devices that carry ones voice across vast distances without magic, however at the risk of sounding like an idiot you save the question for another time.

You bring Olivia close and whisper your plan out of earshot of the boys who continue to watch over the school grounds. With a nod Olivia gets the ball rolling.

"Crap! I forgot to feed Tara this morning" you chime in.

You tell the boys that you'll meet them next lesson as you and Olivia make a quick exit. You're gone before they can even get a word in edgeways.

"Because I believe this involves a plot by Slytherin to cheat Ravenclaw out of a chance to win the House Cup for the year." you say.

The Lady considers this and says "Well. That's all you had to say, can't have Ravenclaw losing for the fourth year in a row."

She leans forward in her seat, looking down the stairway to check the coast is clear.

"All I could hear was light footsteps and the light breathing of a young girl like yourself. I asked this girl a riddle and she answered correctly, I then open my door and that was the end of it...until a few hours later when the headmaster arrived with two professors after a loud voice boomed from inside the dorm, that is all I know of the matter"

We're a hottie. :D

Despite your doubts you manage to survice your first week at Hogwarts, though you can feel a sense of relief fill you as no knew events happen as the weekend arrives.

You spend the following two weeks keeping your head down and your eyes open as you study hard in your classes. You're doing well too, top of the class in fact in both Transfiguration and Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Professor Trib has kept herself from choosing you as her go to witch, instead picking on poor Nigel who seems to have filled your position.

Your trip into the forbidden forests, all four of them so far, with Joel, Gleesan and Bergle have been rather boring to say the least. Mostly the nighs consist of patrolling the outer edge without ever going in, you're asked to watch over the creatures at Gleesan's cottage whilst he and Bergle go into the woods and do their jobs.

Olivia has submitted herself to join Olivier's play, and has been working hard between studies to play the part of the Sphinx, an ancient creature who asks her prey riddles before eating them, whether they answer wrong or right.

Joel and Nigel have bonded more over the duration of the two weeks, having been given the relatively cold shoulder by you.

You haven't seen or heard from Huxley outside of lessons, even then he keeps his distance for whatever reason.

It's late on the third monday as you sit in bed with Tara and Elise. Still no word from your parents, and only the occassional nod of hello from Maud. As far as you can tell her relationship with the Hufflepuff is still on-going.

You're alone in your room. Olivia, Joel and Nigel are downstairs playing a game of wizards chess, you can hear the clinking and smashing of pieces.

You feel worse than you've ever felt in your life. You should feel happy, you're in Hogwarts after all. Since arriving a weight has been put on your shoulders and it's starting to take its toll...you feel a hole in your chest, some nights you can't breathe. You wake in a cold sweat with nightmares of being taken away in the night by a dark figure, you recount the dream or forced hallucination you had with Professor Tooledge in the medical wing.

Elise is little comfort. Tara too. Worst of all you feel your parents have created a hole in you that you can't seem to fill. You're sad but not the kind that makes tears, it's the kind that makes you feel tired and want to be alone, the kind that makes you want to curl up and hug your pillow like a prawn.

"Pretty interesting" says Nigel as he instructs a piece to move, which promptly get's beheaded by the Queen.

"It's sort of like a lesson really, Harriet's told us about the Squib rights movement taking place in London right now. About important historical figures like Agatha Knelks, who was the first reported squib the ministry filed and gave reprective wizarding rights too, as well as criminals like Henry Soaks. We're thinking about starting an awareness group or something. We'll see"

"Squibs didn't have rights?" you ask.

Joel speaks up this time, though keeping his eyes on the board.

"When the first wizarding families formed in England most considered their blood to be pure, any squib in the family was cast out. Later, around the mid-1800's, Squibs were given equal rights to Wizards and were given relative equality. There is still a class gap however as many squibs later choose to live like muggles, the 'purest' families choosing to disown any squib relatives"

That one hit a little close to home.

"Henry Soaks?"

Joel continues, looking you in the eyes this time, sizing you up.

"A criminal who gives Squibs a bad name. He's a notorious theif who steals magical artifacts, no one knows how he manages to do what he does or how he evades capture"

You think of the Trident.

As well as inquiring further about the ministry's failure at capturing Soaks, might be neat to start that game with Nigel.
>>
"Do you think he uses Muggle technology?"
"Maybe, though we've been taught that muggle stuff breaks a lot around magic"

"Does the fact he's a squib make him harder to catch?"
"No, if anything it should be easier. They have no defence against magic"

"Doesn't the ministry have spells that track people? Like the ones where you're not allowed to use magic outside school unless you're seventeen?"
"I'm not sure. But it can't be hard to track someone with magic if you know how, right?"

Almost forgot about the fat ginger kid. Since he got attacked by whoever attacked us, we should probably get in contact with him. Maybe he can help? Even though he IS a measly Hufflepuff, he could be useful. Nathaniel did make him a contestant, after all.
>>
Joel and Nigel seem to ease up around you, relaxing and having fun playing chess again. The conversation over Soaks continues between small talk.

"Do you need to be a wizard to use magical tools and artifacts?"
"I would say half and half. Some you do, some you don't. They can't use wands can they? But I bet they could put a cloak of charisma on and look the bees knees"

"Could a squib use a broomstick?"
"Broomstick? Probably not. What use would a broomstick be to a criminal against a bunch of wizards?"

The game ends. Joel wins. Your turn to play Nigel.

Roll 1d100. 55 or less wins.

>>
>>23653866
I was thinking that someone is trying to manipulate the contest so that there's only one person left to claim the Trident.
That will make it easier for them to knock out the winner and claim the Trident for themselves, since that way they would only need to keep track of 1 contestant.

As for who is behind it, Tribs is the obvious suspect, but that makes me think that she might just be framed.

ESPECIALLY if nearby medical care is able to fix anything not fatal within the next day or two)

I think the ghost is trolling us about the trident, but that it probably does exist somewhere.

I think if the Squib is involved it's only as someone who has been hired to steal the Trident over the main orchestrator. But this is mostly because I don't know of any motives he would have for stealing it beyond that indicate a greater prupose compared to possible motives and of Trib, Millies family, and the other contestants. It's possible there is a greater purpose to his crimes but for the time being he's just a piece of the puzzle, a red herring, or even a third party
