>And once again I screw up my scheduling.>Should I make a Twitter account for this, to let you guys know when I can’t run JQ?You are Jedi Council Master Plo Koon, a Kel Dor with a quick lightsaber and an even quicker sense of justice. Yesterday you took Roa Koo’lade, a spirited young Zabrak girl, as your newest apprentice, six months after Bultar Swan was Knighted. Today you received a mission from the Council to investigate reports of hyperdrive sabotage on the shipbuilding world of Fondor, a major planet in the Colonies. Several hours ago you and your Padawan went up to one of Coruscant’s many orbital docks and boarded the Estrella, a Republic diplomatic cruiser assigned to ferry you to Fondor. Not even halfway there, though, the Estrella was attacked by a pirate corvette. You neutralized one boarding party and hijacked their shuttle, using it to directly attack the pirate mothership. Roa contacted you from the Estrella’s cockpit with the grim news that the Estrella’s pilot had betrayed the crew and dropped the ship out of hyperspace for the pirates to ambush. You told her to inform the captain and stay on the bridge where she would be safest. Then you resumed your attack on the pirate vessel.>Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Jedi%20Quest>A warning: I’m a fucking slow writer.
>>23588264The shuttle is small but handles like a three-legged nerf. It doesn’t appear to have much armor or very good shielding, and its only armament consists of four medium laser cannons. Honestly, though, it’s still better than what you expected for a pirate ship.Letting the Force guide your movements, you deftly drift and slide the shuttle around the shining green bolts of turbolaser fire from the corvette’s main battery. Your own weapons unceasingly spit out scintillating red beams at the much larger ship that splash harmlessly against its heavier shields. Right now, however, you’re not actually trying to damage it, although managing to do so wouldn’t be an unwelcome result. You’re simply harassing the corvette to prevent it from firing on the defenseless Estrella. But you can’t hold out forever. The corvette is much larger and far more powerful than your puny shuttle. If its captain decides that recapturing the hijacked shuttle isn’t worth the trouble, then he may jump away, leaving you, Roa, and the Estrella stranded in deep space. On the other hand, once he realizes that you can’t damage his main ship, the captain may eventually wise up and focus on destroying the Estrella first instead of you. Disabling the corvette’s weapons will be necessary to prevent this from happening. And to do any of this, you have to first get past its shields.>Continue firing on the corvette. Rely on the Force to show you the weak spots in the shielding.>Set the shuttle on autopilot to ram the corvette. Time to SPACE JUMP.>Write-in option.>Do you still want to roll? >>23588275Green and red light stitches the utter blackness of space. Bright, searing laser bolts flicker between the pirate corvette and your rapidly closing shuttle like a fleeting mosaic of death. The shuttle weaves and jukes among the enemy salvos as easily as an insect evades the clumsy swats of an annoyed man.You gather the Force to yourself, the tranquil eye in the storm of battle, and reach across the distance to the corvette. A bubble of protective energy, the energy and kinetic shields, sheathes the warship’s hull. Supernatural senses test the invisible barrier, caressing its unyielding surface for gaps and breaches, for any weaknesses in the coverage caused by the discrepancy between the shields’ natural sphere shape and the long, boxy hull. As you expect, there are several weak spots that you may be able to breach with sustained fire. One towards the stern compromises the protection over the engine block. At the very tip of the bow, another weakness is directly over the corvette’s torpedo tubes, which would contain its most powerful anti-ship weaponry. A third is on the arched underside of the ship, where quite a distance separates the emitters and the shields. You may be able to get at several of the turbolasers, the primary threat to you, from here.

>>23589301>>23589340>>23589389You slam the throttles to full power and haul the shuttle around in a curving arc that brings it off the rear starboard of the corvette. Red beams from your laser cannons jab like searching fingers at the warship’s stern, probing for the unseen weak point you know to exist there. After a few heartbeats, you glimpse the center of that section of the shields flaring bright silver from mounting stress, slowly overwhelming the emitters. It’s working. You keep firing on that point, making only minute adjustments to evade the corvette’s own shots, which barely skim your own shields. The enemy shields’ flare gets brighter and brighter with each solid hit from your weapons, which you cycle as fast as you can without exploding them in their recesses. The corvette begins to turn its bow towards the Estrella, incidentally rotating the weak spot in its shields away from your attack vector. Cutting your forward drives, you use gentle bursts from your maneuvering thrusters to stay with the warship as it spins on its axis, aiming its torpedo tubes at the helpless diplomatic cruiser. And all the while your shuttle’s laser cannons stab at the engine block’s protection again and again, casually evading the corvette’s frantic return fire like a supremely skilled mosquito. The shielding there fails almost anticlimactically. The entire section glows silver for a moment before slowly peeling away into nothingness. Then your lasers are punching into bare armor. But as the durasteel plating begins to glow under the attentions of your guns, to melt and run, to boil off in faintly shimmering clouds of vaporized metal, you realize that you’re not breaking through fast enough. The corvette has stopped moving; it’s in position to open fire on the Estrella. Those proton torpedoes will devastate the lightly armored diplomatic vessel. Master!1/2
>>235975962/2The cry for help ripples through the Force. Your eyes widen under your goggles. Your Padawan is injured. She’s in danger. And you’re too far away to help.An incoming transmission beeps on the shuttle’s pilot’s display. [Over the years, I’ve learned that Jedi come two by two,] a cold voice says through the static-filled link. [One Master. One Apprentice. I presume that you are the Master.]“Do I have the honor of speaking to the captain of this corvette?” you ask dryly. [That you do, Master Jedi. Cease fire on my ship or your Padawan dies.]You spin the shuttle around, leveling your viewscreens at the red form of the Estrella. You see a shuttle detach from the starboard side of the diplomatic ship and accelerate towards the corvette. Roa must be on that shuttle, possibly Captain Gardann and her crew barring the pilot as well.>Keep firing. There is no passion, only serenity.>Cease fire. Try to find a way to save Roa first.

>>23597606Best idea, space jump, board the ship, and either hide in the air system or take it over.
>>23597606You cease fire and stop the shuttle. The corvette has stopped shooting at you as well.[It’s nice to know that even a Jedi can see reason,] the pirate captain says.“Give me one good one why I should stop firing,” you reply grimly. You keep the shuttle’s weapons pointed at the corvette’s engine block. “For all I know you’ll jump to hyperspace and take her with you the moment she comes aboard. You might kill her in the worst-case scenario, but I can still keep you from leaving if I disable your hyperdrive. You’ll need to give me a better offer than that.”[No, I don’t,] he points out. [I can simply shoot you down. One shuttle is no match for a full warship, and even if you do manage disable our hyperdrive, we can take your ship’s drive. You won’t win here, Jedi. Surrender yourself now and you might survive this.]“Why did you attack us?” you ask. “How did you subvert Yinter? Why would you enter the Core with a warship and risk the wrath of the Judicial Fleet? None of this makes sense.”[That’s for us to know and you to try to find out.]Oh, you certainly will. The only question now is what method you’re going to go about it. You could continue firing on the engine block, of course. You could also try to disable the pirates’ other shuttle. But if you do either, the captain may carry out his threat to kill Roa, unless after taking the second option you can convince the pirates aboard the other shuttle that it’s in their best interest not to throw away their life insurance. The other shuttle is still en route to the corvette. If you follow it, you might be able to follow it into wherever it’s going to land. The pirate warship, while large for a private vessel, is small enough that you wonder how it manages to cram two twenty-meter-long shuttles into its hull. Or, alternately, you can simply crash the shuttle into the corvette and directly board it.

Performing mouth-to-mouth rebumpitation
>>23602309>Follow the other shuttle into its hangar. With luck you can storm it and disable its crew before they kill Roa.There’s only one option that won’t get Roa killed immediately. You have to board the corvette’s shuttle hangar by following behind the other shuttle. It’s a crazy plan. Suicidal, even. You cheerfully hum an ancient Jedi battle tune as you power up the forward thrusters—probably the last time this hapless shuttle will ever be able to do so—and rocket towards the other pirate shuttle. Its pilot sees you almost immediately and accelerates as well, probably to get to the safety of its mother-ship more quickly. That was a mistake.Letting the Force guide your hands on the controls, you activate the braking thrusters, slowing you down as your and the other shuttle whip past each other. Then you violently slam the maneuvering stick to the left, spinning your shuttle around in a movement that makes the inertial compensators audibly whine in protest, the still-active forward and brake thrusters’ blazing ion streams evoking the image of a twirling saber-staff. Cutting the retros with a flick of your hand, you redline the forward drives and rocket towards the other shuttle. The hull-rattling acceleration slams your head back into the padded rest. The other shuttle practically leaps out of your main viewscreen as you swiftly cross the distance. You’re only thirty meters away from it, practically nose-to-engine-cone and close enough that the corvette can’t risk shooting at you for fear of hitting their own. More laser blasts leap out from your guns, this time slashing at the other shuttle’s engines. You want to fool the captain into thinking you’re trying to disable it instead of follow it. 1/3
>>236037182/3The other shuttle appears to be heading towards a large silo protruding sideways from the underside of the corvette. The top of the silo splits into two massive doors that yawn open to receive the fleeing shuttle, and through the opening you can see the fairly expansive interior of the hangar, filled with several fuel pallets and the tiny dots of crewmen. It looks at least large enough to accommodate both shuttles. The shield section covering the doors drops for a second to let in the other shuttle, which decelerates hard to avoid smashing headlong into the far wall of the hangar bay. Right behind it, you also slam on the brakes, but not so much that you eliminate all of your forward momentum. There is no chaos, you think to yourself, there is only serenity. The Force becomes adamantine around you, locking you down in your seat; all the power of a supernova, in that moment, could not budge you. And with one final burst of the maneuvering thrusters, you throw your hijacked shuttle into a dizzying fishtail and slam the side of the stern into the other shuttle’s rear end, like a colossal hammer striking an equally massive nail.At that moment you remember your own Master, Tyvokka. The cantankerous old Wookiee would have an aneurysm if he were alive to see this. The next thing you think is that the collision is the most horrendous sound you’ve ever heard—the banshee shriek of tearing metal, the roar of detonating power cells, the thunderous, bone-jarring CLANG of two enormous masses simultaneously dropping to the hangar floor. You momentarily black out as the impact smashes up into your skull like an uppercut from a champion boxer.

>>23604739Thanks, dude. Seriously.>>23604240The wail of emergency sirens wakes you up almost instantly. Your entire body aches and your brain feels like a wad of nerf wool and there’s an odd whistling noise in your ears, but you don’t think you’ve broken anything important. You slap the emergency release of your safety belts, all four of which are badly frayed, and stand up like this is a completely normal landing. This shuttle, on the other hand, is never going to fly again. You make doubly sure of that by shattering the forward viewscreen with a powerful Force push before leaping out onto the shuttle’s prow. The world spins around you, and you stumble a bit as you land. Alright, so maybe you’re not as uninjured as you thought, but you can get checked out by a medic after all this is over with. You jump down to the hangar floor and sprint up to the other shuttle’s prow. Leaping onto it and facing its forward viewscreen, you draw your lightsaber and plunge it into the cracked transparisteel, carving out a wide circular section. After you telekinetically lift the glowing-hot sheet of metal and toss it away, you drop down through the hole and sweep the shuttle’s trashed interior for anything hostile. The pilot, a human male, is very clearly dead. His neck is bent at a wince-worthy angle, and drool trickles out of his open mouth. You spot Roa, out cold and her hands cuffed together, tucked in the corner of the rear hold. There are two more pirates across from her—one sprawled against the back wall, the other, closer to your apprentice, groaning miserably as he comes to.Then his eyes go wide as saucers as he sees you and the blazing blue blade of your lightsaber. His blaster seems to materialize in his hand, and he levels it at your unconscious apprentice.“Not a step closer, Jedi, you hear me?” he shrieks, terrified. “I’ll shoot her! I swear I will!”You—

You stretch your hands apart as far as the magna-cuffs will go and he sets the tip of his blade on the binder, severing it with a deft flick of his wrist. Then Koon walks over to another pirate you haven’t noticed, kneels down next to him, and presses a hand into his throat. After a moment he shakes his head and goes back over to you.“Before you start apologizing, don’t,” your Master says. “I wouldn’t expect a thirteen-year-old girl to be able to hold off three armed pirates, Jedi or not.”“I’m sor—” You cut yourself off. “Where are we, Master?”“We’re on the pirates’ corvette. I boarded it by following the one you were on into the hangar.”You stare at him and then see for the first time that this shuttle is totaled. The rear wall is crumpled in as if by some tremendous impact, the roof and one wall are bent so far that they tear open, and everything inside not bolted down has been scattered willy-nilly. Alarm sirens wail outside and infrared emergency lighting shines through the holes in the shuttle’s hull. Questions dance in your head, but you decide to save them for later. You nod. “Master, I think Captain Gardann and her security officer are either dead or still stunned aboard the Estrella. When I tried to contact her, the link automatically activated the ship’s intercom.”“Which drew the pirates to the bridge,” Koon says, exhaling. “Alright, then. Speaking of bridges, we need to find this ship’s and capture the captain. We can’t let a pirate warship roam around in the Core."1/2
>>236108232/2That’s when you hear shouts and pounding footsteps from outside. “I want your trigger fingers twitchy and your eyes peeled!” a gruff, hoarse voice shouts. “There are Jedi in that wreckage! We have zero room for mistakes here, people! If anybody comes out of that wreckage you shoot to kill!”“But Tuyter, our own guys are still—”“Dipshit!” There was a slapping noise and the second speaker fell silent. “You think anybody normal could survive that crash?”“N-no…” Had it not belonged to a pirate, you may have found the quivering, intimidated voice endearing. Or maybe you’re still feeling the aftereffects of getting stunned.“They sound scared of us,” Koon says. “That gives us more options, then. Wait here for a moment, Roa.”He jumps up through the holed forward viewscreen. After several seconds, he clambers back down. “I count at least ten pirates surrounding our little accident,” he says. “All of them are carrying blaster rifles. None of them, so far, appear to have tried going into the wreckage.”Koon walks over to the man you Force-pushed and tosses his abandoned blaster to you. “I’d prefer that you had a more elegant weapon, but this is better than nothing.""Yes, Master," you say, staring at the blaster.“The trigger should be obvious. See that little switch above the handle? That’s for stun and kill modes. It’s set to kill right now. Change it back.”You do so, and a small meter on the blaster’s back end pulses blue.“That glowing thing was the power-pack reader. It tells you many rounds you have left in the current pack—this one’s full, so you have about fifty or so shots.” He wraps his hand around yours over the grip and raises the blaster level with your eye. “These attachments on the barrel are the sights. The two pirates, who both saw Master Koon Force-push three of them into a wall, instinctively flinch. You take the opportunity to level your blaster at them and open fire. Your first shot once again flies straight and true, slamming into the first pirate’s face and knocking him flat on his back. Your second clips the other man in the shoulder, spinning him around and causing his return shots to harmlessly pepper the floor. The third whistles past his arm. A fourth and final blaster bolt, one that you carefully aim with both hands on the grip, lands squarely in his chest. He crumples without a sound.Plo Koon leaps down from his vantage point. The bulk of the shuttle obstructs your view of what happens next, but you hear terrified yells from the last three pirates and the thrum of a slashing lightsaber. Several heartbeats later the hangar is silent. You run onto the roof of the other shuttle and hop down to the floor. Bodies lay sprawled across the durasteel—some stunned, some with straight lines glowing across their limbs and torsos. You choose keep your eyes on your Master as you walk up to him.“Nice shots, Roa,” Master Koon says. He glances at the now-silent alarm sirens. “We’d better get moving. Reinforcements will be here any moment.”There are two main doors leading out of the hangar, one to the left of the T-shaped crash site and the other to the right. Koon heads for the left exit, but when you glance at the other, you feel an odd presence in the Force, calling you in that direction.>Go left. Follow your Master.>Go right. Investigate.

It’s…odd.”He stares at you for a second, and then tracks your finger to the other door. “You’re right. I feel it now, too—it seems like a call for help. The pirates may be holding a Force-sensitive captive on this ship.”“What?” Your eyes widen. “We’ve got to rescue them, then.”“Of course. Let’s hurry.”You and your Master lope over to the door on the right. As you reach it, Koon presses against the wall next to the frame, motioning for you to stay behind him. Then he waves his hand over the control for the sliding door. When no blaster bolts fly out through the opening, he peeks around the corner to check for any waiting enemies before going inside. With a final, wary glance back into the hangar, you follow him through the door. The ship corridor inside is completely empty and not very well-maintained. A faint layer of grime covers the durasteel floor, and overhead fluorescent strips provide a poor amount of illumination. Several dripping pipes run along the ceiling, and at two points along the wall, the paneling is stripped away to reveal bare wires and circuits. You can see an oil stain in the joint between a bulkhead and the floor. The two of you jog down to the next intersection, where Plo Koon again checks for incoming pirate crewmen before he gives the all-clear and you continue. The call through the Force gets stronger and stronger as you forge deeper into the depths of the ship, but strangely you don’t encounter anyone.“Master, how many pirates do you think are aboard?” you ask as you run.“As an estimate, I’d say anywhere from a hundred to a hundred and fifty.”1/2

When you fling them forward, a solid wall of faintly shimmering air erupts from your palms and howls towards the two pirates. Your attack was slightly off-center. As a result, the man on the left merely goes flying five meters, bouncing once off the durasteel floor before rolling to a groaning stop. The second man, however, takes the full brunt of your Force push and practically disintegrates. You catch one brief, horrifying glimpse of the air-wall crushing him like a metal compactor before shooting him down the corridor.Plo Koon deactivates his suddenly unneeded lightsaber and clips it back on his belt. “Well. That was…quite something.”You cringe. It was an upsetting sight, and your earlier adrenaline rush is long gone.“Well, let’s keep going,” he says. “We’re getting closer. I can sense it.”After another minute, the two of you halt directly under a seemingly random section of the ceiling. Then, shouting out a war cry, you sprint and leap and crash shoulder-first into the occupied stall’s door. The hinges must have been incredibly poorly maintained, because the door instantly caves in, and you and it squash the hapless pirate onto the refresher before he can even scream. While he’s stunned, you quickly clamber to your feet and grab the edge of the now-empty frame. Then you begin stomping on the door before he can lift it off of himself. Or at least you tried to, because the thick sheet of plastic doesn’t budge when you press your foot on it. A gravelly, guttural roar from behind it makes your ears ring. You feel incredibly strong hands shove the door up and send you flying to land in the opposite corner of the refresher-room, almost colliding with the wall. Now it’s your turn to lay there, dazed. The abused door clatters to the tiled floor to reveal a massive, brown-scaled Trandoshan, its fangs bared in an enraged snarl. It’s somewhat uncertain how the reptilian managed to fit in the comparatively tiny refresher stall.…why didn’t you just keep quiet? As you scramble to your feet, the Trandoshan stomps forward and hauls you up by your throat. The crushing pressure around your neck disappears as his hand goes limp, but your respite is short-lived. The gigantic reptilian collapses right on top of you and pins you to the floor. You hear boots tapping against the tiles of the floor.“Dare I ask, my Padawan?” Plo Koon says dryly.“Can I have some help here, Master?” you groan, feeling heat rush into your cheeks. The chuckling Jedi Master grabs the unconscious Trandoshan by the shoulders and heaves him off of you. Still gasping for air, you shakily get to your feet and gently rub your sore throat. Your breath comes out as a rattling whistle.“Well, at least we have two prisoners to interrogate,” Koon says, glancing from the Trandoshan to the smaller Rodian. “Take a break, Roa. I’ll handle this part.”You nod gratefully, slumping against the tiled wall. Plo Koon yanks the Rodian up by his collar and slaps him several times on his uninjured cheek. The now probably sterile pirate jerks awake at the fifth stinging impact, opening his eyes to the intimidating visage of the Kel Dor. “Don’t hurt me,” the Rodian squeaks, and then winces.“Tell me where the nearest turbolift is, and you have my word as a Jedi Knight that you’ll come to no harm,” Plo Koon says coolly. “First right turn from here, then another right! Please don’t kill me!”“Thank you.” Then your Master waves a hand over the Rodian’s head, who immediately goes limp and starts snoring.“I learned it from the healers at the Temple,” Koon explains, to your questioning look. “It’s very useful for infiltration missions.”1/2
>>236204682/3Now much better acquainted with the ship’s layout, you and Master Koon locate a small turbolift in a corridor that you passed earlier. You go up floor by floor, simultaneously focusing on the Force presence to check how much further you need to go and keeping a wary eye for any pirates who might walk past the open doors of the lift, but you see nobody.“Shouldn’t there be more people around here?” you ask.“The captain may have pulled the majority of the crew onto the forward section of the ship,” Koon replies. “There’s probably also a force stationed in engineering. We’re not going there, of course. Yet.”At the topmost floor, you feel that the Force presence is ‘level’ with your position. The two of you step out of the lift car, constantly checking both ways for any approaching pirates, and jog through the next section of the mazelike corridors towards your goal. The presence becomes stronger and stronger as you get closer. Finally you come to a recessed blast door conveniently labeled “Brig”. Plo Koon presses the control, but the door doesn’t open. A second look reveals a numerical keypad set into the wall below the touch-control.“It looks like we need the proper authorization code to open the door,” he says. He activates his lightsaber. “Well, I don’t really have the patience to go get it.”He stabs the energy blade straight through the top of the joint between door and frame, dragging a molten-rimmed line through the durasteel all the way down to the floor. You can hear cries of dismay through the breached soundproofing. When Koon is finished severing the door, he knocks it over with a swift kick and rushes into the room, with you hot on his heels.

Two pirates, a gaunt, corpse-pale near-human and another Trandoshan, stand guard at a small computer station on the right. They have their blasters pointed at the destroyed door when you and Master Koon burst in, weapons blazing. The Force hums in concert with the adrenaline spiking through your veins.Plo Koon’s lightsaber becomes a blur of blue light as he deflects the incoming blaster bolts at extremely close range. Once again, the pirates’ focus on the lightsaber-wielding Jedi costs them—you manage to plant two stun bolts into the near-human’s chest and catch the underside of the Trandoshan’s forearm with a third. Master Koon takes advantage of the giant reptilian’s distraction to cleave his blaster in two before reversing his blade to swipe off his head—“No! The Jedi Master holds the tip of the lightsaber at the Trandoshan’s throat. “Kindly put your hands over your head. Just a precaution, nothing personal.”Grerssk quickly complies, his reptilian eyes very, very wide. “Thank you. Do you use conventional keys or this computer station?”“It’s the computer station,” Grerssk says. “There’s no password. Just tap the ‘unlock’ option.”“Roa, if you’d oblige?”You go to the terminal and follow the Trandoshan’s instructions. The door of the cell holding the dark-haired girl unlocks with a grating clang, but to your confusion, she darts back inside instead of out to freedom like you would expect. The answer comes a second later when the dark-haired girl leads an older girl out by the arm. The new girl is an elegantly beautiful Miraluka, with an embroidered headband covering her eyes and a black ribbon tying her wavy blonde hair back in a ponytail. Both girls are dressed in rags and covered in dirt and grime. Now that both girls are free, the dark-haired one sidles behind the sightless blonde, who somehow looks directly at you first and then at Master Koon. “My name is Lili Stenn,” the blonde says in a soft, lilting accent. “This shy one is Hannaca Ikerin. You’re Jedi, right? Thank you for saving us.”“You’re quite welcome, young lady,” Koon replies warmly. His blade doesn’t budge from Grerssk’s neck. “I am Jedi Master Plo Koon, and this is my apprentice, Roa Koo’lade.”“It’s a pleasure to meet you both.” Lili hesitates. “I know you only see Grerssk as a pirate, but can you please deactivate your lightsaber? I’m more inclined to stun every pirate aboard this vessel and bring them to the authorities.”“So am I, but not for Mr. Grerssk,” Lili pleads. “Grerssk snuck us food and water whenever he could. He talked with us whenever Kandurc there was out of the room. He even stopped several of the other pirates from entering our cell and…”You’re unsure of how that’s significant, but Plo Koon abruptly begins to radiate an aura of menace.“I see,” he says icily. “Well. Can I trust you to continue acting in Miss Stenn and Miss Ikerin’s further interest, Mr. Grerssk? I’ll ask for lenience on your behalf if you do.”“That sounds like a very good deal,” Grerssk says hastily. “Good. Now stay in this room and protect these two girls. If we come back and find them gone, the consequences will be dire. Is that understood?”The Trandoshan nods. The dark-haired girl—Hannaca, right?—darts out from behind Lili and scoops up the fallen near-human’s blaster. “W-we’re not helpless little girls,” Hannaca says, glaring at you and Master Koon in a game attempt to look fierce. “My father taught me how to shoot. And Lili has these powers—she can see through walls even though she’s blind, and she’s a lot stronger than she looks. We can protect ourselves.”“Whether or not that’s true, I’d prefer if Grerssk were here to help you,” Koon says. Then he looks at you. “And my Padawan here is a very good fighter despite her age. >>23632620>Acquiesce. Trust in the Jedi Master. You’re annoyed that Master Koon decided this without consulting you, but you know that you’ll probably just be a distraction to him while he battles the pirates gathered on the other end of the ship. Besides, he isn’t a Jedi Master for nothing, right?“As you wish, Master,” you sigh. You level a warning finger at him. “But come back alive, alright?”Plo Koon laughs. “As you wish, my Padawan.” Then he becomes more serious. “May the Force be with you, Roa.”“And you, Master.” You watch him walk out of the door and hear his footsteps slowly fade into the distance, before turning back to the other three occupants of the room.“So,” Grerssk says somewhat awkwardly. He rummages through the pocket of his jumpsuit, drawing out a stack of dog-eared cards. “Do any of you know how to play sabaac?”>Switch to Plo Koon’s point of view?

If you really wanted to play…”“That was a joke, sweetheart. Don’t worry about it.”“Oh…”“I’ll try it,” you say, sitting cross-legged on the floor opposite from Grerssk. “You’ll have to teach me, though. I’ve never played sabacc before. What about you, Hannaca?”Hannaca looks to Lili, but the Miraluka girl simply shrugs. “S-sure.” She sits down next to you and Grerssk to form a triangle of players. “Are we going to bet or anything?”Grerssk begins shuffling the deck. “You can if you want, but I’m just playing to pass the time.”He deals out two cards to you, Hannaca, and finally himself before setting the deck down between you.“Okay, so there are four phases in sabacc,” he begins. “Betting, which we’re not going to include; Calling, when other players can call what hand you have; Shifting, when we change the values and suites of our cards—you press the little buttons on the bottom of each one—and Drawing, when we can switch one card in our hands with one from the deck, or simply discard a card.”“There are four suites with sixty ‘regular’ cards in total: Coins, Flasks, Swords, and Staves. Each of ‘em has cards numbered one to eleven and valued the same, plus Commander for twelve, Mistress for thirteen, Master for fourteen, and Ace for fifteen. With me so far?”You and Hannaca nod.1/2
>>236352542/2“There are also two copies each of eight face cards,” Grerssk continues, “Sixteen total: Queen for negative two, Endurance for negative eight, Balance for negative eleven, Demise for negative thirteen, Moderation for negative fourteen, Evil One for negative fifteen, Star for negative seventeen, and Idiot for zero. If you get one of these cards in your initial hand, you can draw another random number card.”“Now, the objective of each round is to get a hand that’s closest to the absolute value of twenty-three. So a negative twenty-one would trump a positive twenty, but the positive number would win if, say, players had both positive and negative twenty-ones.”“And that’s pretty much it,” the Trandoshan says. “Sabacc’s a lot more sophisticated in the casinos, of course, but we don’t exactly have a card table or a dealer droid here at the moment.”“Okay,” you say, picking up your cards. You have—>Roll 2d23.>If d1-d15, then you have a numbered card of random suite.>If d16-d23, then you have a face card. Roll 1d15 and check above.

He had to be an obnoxious little cunt and pretend that nobody else EVER felt conflicted about that part of the code, that no other Jedi EVER felt the way he did. Fuckwit. >>23636300Exactly what I'm saying. Uh... minus the Anakin Skywalker rant. Bruck is shit-tier, so is Dheeval. Ergo we should watch out for Xanatos-tier, because he exists too (check char creation thread again!), and this guy is way less a bitch than Xanatos, by the sheer nature of having to give Plo Koon the finger, rather than Qui-Gon (who while awesome, has waaaay less anger issues than Plo Koon). Hannaca shrieks in terror and both of you grab your blasters, but Grerssk is unperturbed.“Those two stun bolts will have him down for the next several hours,” the Trandoshan says. “And I wouldn’t worry about Kandurc. He’s a real piece of work—Nagai are speciesist beyond belief, and the only reason the captain keeps him around is because he can make anybody talk.”Hannaca still looks agitated, but a touch from Lili seems to calm her down. “Okay then…do you have fifteen?”“No.”“Now that the calling phase is done, you can shift the values of the cards,” Grerssk cuts in. “See those little buttons I mentioned earlier? Now you have a total of twenty-five. Not good, but you keep a straight face.Hannaca doesn’t draw a card, so she probably didn’t get a face card. Grerssk’s eyes dart from you to her. He looks a bit nervous.“Should we put Kandurc in one of the empty cells?” you ask suddenly.“Maybe,” Lili says, but she sounds a bit doubtful. A bit scared, even.Grerssk shrugs, sets down his cards, and picks up the stunned Nagai. Slinging Kandurc over his shoulder, the Trandoshan strides over to the cell Lili and Hannaca previously occupied and tosses him in. He slams the barred door shut before returning to the sabacc game. “Alright, now is the drawing stage,” Grerssk says. “You can draw a card to replace one in your hand, discard a card, or do nothing.”>Draw a new card to replace one in your hand. He hasn’t drawn a card either.“Are you discarding that?” the Trandoshan asks.“Yes.” You look at Lili and Hannaca, the latter of whom is still staring at her hand. “Um…can I ask you two something?”“Of course,” Lili says, after Hannaca nods slightly. “What do you want to talk about?”“I’m just curious how you two wound up on a pirate ship.”Grerssk winces at this, but says nothing.“We were actually sitting next to each other on a small passenger liner in the Mid-Rim,” Lili recalls. Her voice grows distant. “Our ship was heading to Roche from Jeyell in the Roche Sector. Something pulled us out of hyperspace. A mass mine, I think the pilot said. The next thing I remember is something slamming into the side of the ship and then screaming and blaster shots going off in the area behind me.”She hugs herself. “I-It’s a bit chilly in here, isn’t it? Heh. Anyways, this human man walked up to me and put a gun in my face. He asked me what my name was, and I told him. I also told him that my family didn’t have any money to pay for my ransom, but he said that I wasn’t to be held for ransom.”“So I got up,” the Miraluka girl says. “But just as I did, the shy girl who had been sitting next to me jumped on the pirate and started screaming at him and punching him in the face. Well okay, I couldn’t actually see it, but I could certainly hear Hannaca trying to save me.” 1/2
>>236378772/2Hannaca’s face goes red and she hunches her shoulders, even as Lili pulls her into a warm, deep hug. “I got beaten up in the end,” the dark-haired girl admits in her quiet voice. “One little girl isn’t a match for three adult men no matter how hard she fights.”“You still tried,” you say, smiling. “That was very brave of you.”A moment of silence passes.“I hate to interrupt your story,” Grerssk says awkwardly, “But it’s time to show your cards.”>Luck check: Card Games.
