General theory is that the REAL headmaster isn't the BBEG and we were hallucinating. I think that's it at least.

Catching up with the story now.

The Tooledge who talked to us in the hospital ward acted very suspicious. Why would he ask us if we know where the trident is? We already talked to "him" about the terms and conditions of the contest and the location of the trident is the prize which we obviously haven't won. The last time someone was accused of attemped poisoning they were removed from the school, interrogated by the wizarding secret service and placed under house arrest (essentially). And yet this incident is quickly swept under the rug with "Tooledge" going so far as to veto truth serum. So obviously there are shenanigans going on and the entire hospital ward incident was likely an illusion.

However there is something else I noticed. Tooledge casually mentioned that Sam was at home under house arrest (basically). How many people would know about this? Considering the wizard special forces are involved you would think that Sam's location wouldn't be public knowledge. So who ever was running that illusion either knew about this beforehand or guessed when we asked about Sam.

Next time we see Tooledge ask about what happened to Sam, and who else knows about what happened to him. If Sam isn't really a home that lends evidence towards the second Tooledge being a fake. If he IS a home that it might narrow the pool of suspects who could carry off something like this. Could be a clue.

For a while I thought this was some kind of traditional Ravenclaw puzzle that Nathaniel pulls on a Ravenclaw student every year, but yeah, the plot thickens and is now simmering at a low heat until we can take it off the fire and let it cool for a moment before serving.
