(3 Fate Points)

House: Ravenclaw

Millicent is Anti-Social. This is the system-specific trait, not the popular definition of anti-social. She is not socially awkward, shy, or lonely; she actively hates people. But she is not a sociopath (she does feel emotions, and she does understand social expectations and rules, and does follow them, and is not manipulative; she just hates people).
However, being thrust into an environment where she MUST interact with people, no longer having the safe haven of her own room or of Dad and Mum, and with the threat of being disowned, has forced Millicent to begin accepting more people.

This does not mean that Millicent is lonely and wants friends for the sake of companionship or for the sake of friendship; she still feels hatred for people outside of the very small circle of family, familiar, doll, and acquaintance(s).
And that hatred will only subside with time, or her being forced to get to know the person better and becoming acclimated to them.
Her hatred isn't an uncontrolled thing either, unlike her fear of bodies of water or nausea regarding seafood; she can push down that hatred enough to work with people. People can do things they hate, and be unhappy with it but do it all the same.

tl;dr
People have to work hard to be liked or even tolerated by Millicent; Average Joe's can go take a hike, Real Relationships Only.

Traits:
Near-Death
>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.
Hexer
>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.
Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.

The instant the bell rings for the end of the lesson you're out of the class like lightning. You shoot down the hallways with Tara running by your side as you push open the heavy set doors to the library where you can be alone.

Or so you thought. Maud sits alone on a desk reading a spellbook. She turns and looks at you.

"Oh. My. God"

You run like the wind and turn on your heels to make a break for it...

You don't get far as magical rope wraps around your waist. You fall back onto your butt as Maud tugs you back into the library as you try to wrangle yourself free. With another flourish of her wand the ropes tighten to the extent you can't move your arms from your sides.

Pulling you down a deserted isle Maud can't help but keep the fascination from her face.

"This has to be some kind of potion" she says "looking good"

"It was Professor Trib" you say "and it doesn't 'have' to be a potion, not that I want anyone staring at me. Does she do this to all her students?"

Maud laughs and sits on the floor beside you against the bookshelf.

"Ah" she says, putting the pieces of the puzzle together "you're 'that' student"

Maud goes onto explain that Professor Trib is notorious for picking on the same student in each class to test out her potions.

"As far as anyone can tell she doesn't realise she does it" Maud says "however I have found her method does give students the proper common-sense needed when approaching dangerous potions"

This

>Why?We should be using this one-time-occasion for proving our superiority and else.

AFAICT Millicent doesn't have a compulsion to be superior.

Though I'd like that to be triggered as an anti-Slytherin mechanism when all this sorting business comes to a climax. "I will show you, pitiful and weak Slytherins, WHY it is that I am in Ravenclaw! I will raise this house to greatness, and it starts with grinding down your hopes of ever winning the House Cup ever again!"
>>
>>23470032
>Does it bother you people?

No, it doesn't bother me at all. Someone should edit it with the quest relevant character. That would be great
>>
>>23470115
It's not true superiority if we're having to use a potion as a crutch. At least our robe we have a right to, as it's a symbol of our rich heritage as pure blooded wizards. This we stumbled upon be being too weak to avoid sneezing in class.
>>
"How do I not get to be 'that' student?" you say in a huff "I don't want a horde of boys chasing after me"

Silence. You look to Maud as she doesn't reply, her hands cover her face as she fights to hold back a smile.

"What?" you say.

After a little more silence Maud pokes you gently in the cheek with her finger.

"You're just so damn cute" she says "Trib sure does know how to make a beauty potion"

You fight back a blush as you fight against your ropes some more. Maud snaps out of her stupor and apologizes as you waves her wand, cancelling the rope tying spell as they dissappear.

"I don't know" says Maud in response to your question "maybe you could try and make her pick someone else. It's still you're first week after all"

>>
>>23470329
Good point. Some snarky comment might not go amiss, though.
>>
>>23470171

I'll continue a bit on this superiority thing...

Millicent comes from a pureblood family, but she doesn't know what a "mudblood" actually is - just that it's bad. She seems actually rather innocent (and super cute), just aping the mannerisms and words of her family and the Slytherin "caste". She's ended up in Ravenclaw, she's going to turn out all right, but in the meantime she's going to a bit of a cute contradiction. Antisociality or misanthropy isn't necessarily tied to superiority.
>>
>>23470354
I'd consider it if the potion was something we'd done, instead of bumbled into. We should earn our hordes of slavering worshipers, damn it!
>>
>>23470274
That's like teasing someone about an extramarital affair or some other thing that could get a person humiliated in public.
>>
>>23470389

>>
"What were you doing here?" you ask, noticing the library is extra empty "I don't see that Hufflepuff boy..." you tease.

Maud gives you a hard nudge on the shoulder.

After already succeeding with the rolls it doesn't really matter anymore, but I'd like to point out that Astrology specifically uses stars to tell the future: even in the one book where Trelawny plays a role Astrology doesn't make use of any scrying or divination devices. For a crystal ball, we'd want Divinations.

For a board that plays a lot of RPGs, I'm surprised more people haven't pointed this out.

"Yes." says Maud flatly "they've tried to get you out of Ravenclaw, Tooledge said it was up to you. You decided Ravenclaw was the right choice, Mum and Dad were furious and then I got a letter last night saying they're going to stop fighting the decision. Our other-family our visiting them in a few days..."

The other family referred to your not-so-nice cousins, aunts and uncles that seem to crawl out of the woodwork every couple of months. Every last one of them a pureblood and proud of it.

You idly pull a book away and are greeted by a pig pair of eyes. It's Tara with Elise in her mouth, you had completely forgotten you had left them behind!

Whatever magic worked from within that beauty potion seems to be fading, you can sort-of feel it on your cheeks and in your gut.

Millie and Maud making up, followed by Olivia telling Millie that the House will be there for her.
Oh, and petrifying Robert.
>>
>>23471374
I personally enjoyed the bit at Care of Magical Creatures where Rob ended up saving and talking to us. It was a nice surprise, considering we hexed him earlier.
>>
>>23471515
I spent a long time creating characters, their backgrounds, magical items etc etc

>>

Well, I'm looking forward to it.
>>
>>23471426
This is hard... Millie opening up to Olivia or perhaps the conversation with the headmaster in his office. The hug with Maud works only if you've been following this quest and you know why it's so important. I believe the two scenes I chose serve as a much better summary of who Millie is, how she views the world and what's truly important to her.
>>
>>23471279
>Would you like to study with us?

Well, by that criteria, Millie's reaction to bullying with a Total Petrification spell and the threat of even more pain in the future is a pretty good one.

Seeing as you are in a library you bury yourself in study next to that mermaid window pane again. You scour the shelves for anything that might prove useful.

You discover the "Clockwork Assembly Charm" or "Velox Coetus" when used properly. According to the book the casting of this spell is no easy matter and can take many attempts to get right.

Sadly there is little else in the way of information as you do not have a need to look for other than a vague idea of what to do.

You don't feel like being around any of your friends and/or aquaintances right now, instead you opt for following Tara as she slinks out of the library with Elise between her teeth. She leads you on a stroll down the changing stairs and down towards the Great Hall, then even further as you come to an adrupt stop outside a short descending flight out stairs leading to the Elf kitchen.

>>
>>23473813
Not exactly an exciting place, but we aren't looking for anything in particular right now. Also, Samn was caught here trying to poison those Slytherin students. Perhaps we can find some clues!
>Go inside and look around
>>
>>23473813
Look if she expresses interest in entering, if yes, do so, if not, follow her.
>>
>>23473813

Time to ask for some fish for Tara and some info on what the deuce happened with the poisoning attempt alledgedly done by Sam. Remember, a few elves died, so I'm pretty sure they want to get whoever was behind the poisoning.
>>
>>23473874
Well, that is... if they didn't do the poisoning under some spell.
>>
Being the size of a dog it doesn't take much for Tara to nudge the bulky door to the kitchens open with her head. As you step inside you can feel the mixed smells of dinner being cooked by what you can see as at least sixty elves.

There is an order to the chaos as husky looking elf with a snub nose and big white chef's had patrols up and down a counter. The other elves chop away at onions, their round crying as they chop. Others dangle from pots and pans on the ceiling as they toss them to one another, the sound of fish and eggs sizzling filling the air as they hum in unison.

>>23473980
>Introduce yourself to the head chef
We're anti-social, not impolite.
>>
>>23474049
Of course.

Considering Tara's size compared to the house elves and the fact that she's, well, a cat, I imagine she'd help herself to some fish. Since when do cats ask for anything they can fully well get themselves?
>>
Taran does a U-turn and snuggles up to your leg as you approach the head chef who has taken to holding a roller in his hand like a cricket bat.

"Excuse me" you say.
"Wot?" he says, accent gruff, nose shrivelling and face displeased to see you.
"I was wondering if you had any fish for my cat to eat. I'm Millicent Fauxly, this is Elise and this is Tara"

The chef scratches his snub nose before snapping his fingers, a half-eaten fish floats atop a small cloud and into a bowl before Tara who happily munches away.

You find yourself unable to concentrate as your near-death experience comes to play on your mind again. The fat elf chef huffs dismissively and gets back to bossing the others about.

You decide it's best to leave before you throw up everywhere.

And shake off that feeling of nausea while we're at it. It'll be easier when there's no people around to make her feel uncomfortable.

"That didn't turn out as well as hoped, did it, Elise? But at least we were able to get something for Tara, so I suppose it wasn't a total loss."

This is a great plan.

Let's just bring all our friends. Joel and Olivia to tag-team everything in our way with their charm scores, and Nigel so he can do something for his friend Sam.

Imagine waking up hugging a slimy dead fish instead of your favourite doll.

It's 2am, OP. Your mind playing tricks on you.

What is life without risk? A pretty boring existence, I say and besides we're 11...

Ok, second chance to find out something about the poisoning. Let's try not to screw this up, people. Quick, everybody grab their favourite lucky charms and cross their fingers!
