(3 Fate Points)

House: Ravenclaw

Millicent is Anti-Social. This is the system-specific trait, not the popular definition of anti-social. She is not socially awkward, shy, or lonely; she actively hates people. But she is not a sociopath (she does feel emotions, and she does understand social expectations and rules, and does follow them, and is not manipulative; she just hates people).
However, being thrust into an environment where she MUST interact with people, no longer having the safe haven of her own room or of Dad and Mum, and with the threat of being disowned, has forced Millicent to begin accepting more people.

This does not mean that Millicent is lonely and wants friends for the sake of companionship or for the sake of friendship; she still feels hatred for people outside of the very small circle of family, familiar, doll, and acquaintance(s).
And that hatred will only subside with time, or her being forced to get to know the person better and becoming acclimated to them.
Her hatred isn't an uncontrolled thing either, unlike her fear of bodies of water or nausea regarding seafood; she can push down that hatred enough to work with people. People can do things they hate, and be unhappy with it but do it all the same.

tl;dr
People have to work hard to be liked or even tolerated by Millicent; Average Joe's can go take a hike, Real Relationships Only.

Traits:
Near-Death
>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.
Hexer
>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.
Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.

Nathaniel stops dead in front of you. Well not dead as is in "dead!" but more like he just stops moving. Because he's a ghost. And he's dead. Undead if you will. But not a vampire. No. A ghost. Okay? kay? Good.

"Can we help you?" says Nigel after an awkward pause.

"I would like to speak with Milicent" says Nathaniel.

Also, this makes me think: we could maybe scout out the other contestants to the game if we just find out what students keep on getting interrupted on their way to damn class by Nathaniel Nosy here. If there are other contestants, his cavalier attitude to secrecy makes me doubt it... This is just some prank he pulls on some Ravenclaw every year, instead of competing with three of our peers, we're competing with past Ravenclaws...
>>
With a sigh and a backwards glance at your friends you walk with Nathaniel to your usual garden area. Thankfully it's a nice sunny day today as you find a warm bench to sit on opposite the Hufflepuff ghost who pretends to sit.

You can't help but notice the many ways in which Nathaniel tries to act like he's still alive. He sits as if he has been on a merry walk round the castle, he rests his hand upon the arm of the bench although the tips of his fingers melt right into it. Perhaps he's training himself for when he receives the 'body' you agreed to make for him.

"Any luck?" he asks with a smile.

"Mostly theoretical. I need more time for the pratical stuff" you say as Nathaniel furrows his brow and considers your progress.

"Plus it's my first week of school, don't expect miracles"

Nathaniel grins and looks at you from the corners of his eyes.

"And don't come floating by and advertise that I'm a competitor" you say, finally.

"Understood, that was careless of me" he says, voice calm and collected.

"You know" he begins "the other contestants have already made swift progess on building me the body I desire..."

"So is that the reason that the Hufflepuff boy attempted to take out the contestant from Slytherin?" you say flatly, which only seems to add venom to your accusation.

Nathaniel's ghostly face contorts in an inhuman manner, looking truly horrific and the stuff of nightmares, eyes blackening and mouth widening into a grimace.

"I do not take kindly to your accusation, miss Fauxly" he says in a hiss "to think I had anything to do with what that Hufflepuff boy did is an outrage!"

"But it is oh so convenient, isn't it? You hold a contest for a powerful artifact, the recovery of which could propel Hufflepuff back to greatness. At the same time, a boy from Hufflepuff attempts to poison Slytherin House, which would effectively knock out their contestant, making it more likely for the Hufflepuff contestant to win.
"And before you imply implications of your own, of course I don't think you had anything to do with it. You want a body; the faster the better. Having contestants knocked out is counter to your goal. If anything the poisoning was only an unintended side-effect.
"Now, are we done here?"
>>
Guys, you know!

We could demand he tell the other contestants the contest is off.

That we will finish the body.

Or else we'll tell the headmaster he was involved.
>>
>>23437428

That sounds like an idea that won't get us closer to the Trident.
>>
>>23437486

What if it is?
>>
>>23437428
Not seeing what's in it for Nathaniel, and the Headmaster seemed to approve of the contest.
We have no evidence that Sam even knows about the contest, or that his poisoning of the food is related to it.
Right now it's all suppositions, implying implications, and conjectures.
We need proof first.
>>
>>23437522

it isn't.
>>
>>23437522

Well, the headmaster already knows about the competition (if there is one grumble grumble), and so he has the same information that we do, except maybe this latest outburst.
>>
>>23437557

Always assume the headmaster knows everything. Becase he probably does.
>>
>>23437580

Oh yeah, the walls have eyes in Hogwarts...

I wonder where our headmaster lies on the Dumbledometer.
>>
"Don't you think it's just a little too convienient? A Hufflepuff student with a powerful magical artifact would be just the thing to propel the house to greatness" you say.

Nathaniel seems to regain his composure, face shifting back to normal.

"If that were my plan why would I offer the artifact to one student of each house and not for Hufflepuffs? My house is a loyal and just one and do not take kindly to minced words"

He floats into the air and spins to face you.

"I will be checking up on you later in the week to check on your progress, hopefully by that time you'll be in a better attitude than you are now, such a pity"

He phases into the ground heading to what you could only assume to be the dungeons.

The time to worry about magical Tridents and plots of arson take a back seat as Flying Practice rears its head.

You find your way to the outer grounds where the rest of the class huddles together to collect their brooms from the shed. Tara skitters off and jumps atop of it to be out of your way for the lesson, keeping Elise company.

Roll 1d100 for Flying Lesson. 65 or less wins.
>>
>>23437557
>>23437535

Well, the little ghost doesn't know that now does he?

He might be pretty afraid of being implicated in a crime and his entire contest shut down.

Thus he might be inclined to engage in a simple trade with only us.

"Up!" the broom shoots into your grip with ease this time. Another hit like before and you're sure your nose would have broke.

Professor Bergle mounts his own nimbus 2000 and leads the way for the class who follow behind at a controlled pace. You fly your broom down to the lake and back, high into the sky and around the castle, drinking in the beautiful landscape as the cold air whips through your robe and clothes. You feel a relief flood through you as your feet touch down on solid earth as the lesson draws to an end.

Before you can follow your friends to potions class Professor Bergle calls you and Joel over to him as he packs away the brooms.

"Mr. Gleesan tells me you'll be helping us this coming monday and tuesday night" he says "mighty good of you to do so, been a while since a student has volunteered of their own free will. No telling what horrible monstrosisties are waiting out there in the forbidden forest waiting to rip the skin off your bones"

Joel gives a nervous laugh and says it's no problem in his own charismatic way.

"So what interests do you have in the forests anyways?" asks Bergle "looking to take a snapshot with a unicorn?" he jokes.

"Ain't a fun place to be that forbidden forest."

The little small talk you have with Professor Bergle ends as you call over Tara who has Elise clamped softly between her teeth. She jumps into your arms as you bear hug her into place as you walk to potions.

Sitting in class next to Olivia you can't help but watch as Professor Trib instructs further on the correct method of detecting harmful potions. You try to imagine a beautiful woman underneath her leathery skin and hooked nose but it seems impossible.

Once the section on harmful potions is finished for the week she moves onto an equally dangerous potion assignment.

Dice rolls and modifiers aren't the important difference between games and stories for this purpose. The important difference is between watching someone else who you suggest choices to fail and failing yourself.

You can't scream internally enough as your eyes linger on Joel for a second too long.

"Uh-hmm" hums Trib as she waves her wand in the air, sparks shooting out the end, the room encased in a flash of white for a moment.

As the rest of the class rubs their eyes you are directed to sit back down for the rest of the lesson. You're acutely aware of the ogles you are now getting from the boys in the glass. Damn you Trib!

The lesson takes a lifetime to end but you're thankful that it does as break arrives.

But there is a reason to study: we need to start getting the necessary enchantment formula's.
>>
>>23438661
Where ever we go, make Tara tiger sized and ride her there.
>>
The instant the bell rings for the end of the lesson you're out of the class like lightning. You shoot down the hallways with Tara running by your side as you push open the heavy set doors to the library where you can be alone.

Or so you thought. Maud sits alone on a desk reading a spellbook. She turns and looks at you.

"Oh. My. God"

>Why is this happening ¬_¬!
>Run.
>Hey Maud

>>
>>23438723
Bah. People are easy to deal with: just glare at them or ignore them. But we need to study, both for the contest and because we really did not do well in DADA yesterday.

Ask Olivia to accompany us to the Library for more studying DADA and enchantments.

Oh come on, it's perfectly within character. We're an awkward teenager, we gotta fuck up some times. We gotta build up a big trauma bank to overcome while we grow older.

Aside from that, at least we're not part of the chorus wanting to lez out every chance we can get.

No, it's not within character.
We made up with Maud, she actually comforted Milly the last time. It'd have been more in-character to ask Maud for help about the potion and Trib.

Oh well, at least Blatant Fetish Quest is running. I'll be back when you're back on, cheering team olivia.
>>
>>23439047
This is my reasoning as well. Sure, we made up with Maud, but her (Maud's) exclamation just means trouble to me.
>>
>>23439051
Dude, have you read the posts that were quoted? At least those two did it because they thought it funny.
>>
Let's not bicker and argue, comrades, but speculate on what that flash of light was that Tribs did!

I personally think that the hag improved our relationship with Joel somehow.
>>
>>23439007
Its not "out of character" because you dislike it. We ran away from our friends too. Whether we made up with Maud or not, Millie prefers being alone. That's like one of the defining traits of her character.
>>
>>23439051
I disagree with >>23439047 and >>23439082
but at least they have some reasoning behind their decisions, and in a split second decision under stress making this kind of mistake is fairly probable.
But I'm referring to the posts that specifically said they wanted to run because they thought it would be funny.
>>
>>23439102
Regardless of what she did I don't want her messing with our or our friends' minds.
>>
>>23439102
No. NO. Don't be naive. We're screwed. We're always screwed when it comes to Professor Trib.
>>
>>23439102

She probably was just distracting us to steal our money.
>>
>>23439136
Some of us voted to go to the Library not because Millie wants to be alone, but because we are on a timer in regards to the contest, and while Nathaniel may have been bluffing, it's possible that another contestant is further along than us in completing their body; especially if they didn't have to bother with family problems and friends.
>>
Y-you know, guys? I get sad sometimes, because I know this quest will end someday, HPQuest will move to well-deserved greener pastures and some of us will remain here, with a Millie folder in our computers...

Despite the endless debate about what anti-social means and stuff I want you guys to know this is really, really fun.
>>
>>23438537
W-where is that from?
>>
>>23439215

Don't worry if HPQuest abandons the thread I will release my naughty drawings of Millie/Maud as a goodbye gift.

Just kidding HPQuest!
>>
>>23439144
I said to run because it was funny. The intent wasn't because its lolrandum, but because its plausible as a preteen's overreaction to embarrassment.

So, which position on the Quidditch team is Millicent going to try out for?
>>
>>23439349

Seeker. It's a prestigious position that can turn the tide of the game, and it's the position that involves the least amount of team play and interaction with others.
>>
>>23439289
Then I apologize, as your original post implied you were making a choice just for the lulz.
I do not wish to see rampant randumb idiocy take down this quest.
>>
>>23439362
either keeper or seeker, as those dont require teamplay
>>
>>23439362
I like this, but I could also see Keeper working. You don't get the spotlight as much there, less chances of being swarmed after matches.
>>
>>23439349
we are in the first year. We wont play any quidditch for some time.
>>
>>23439404
OP puts a long text on the beginning of the thread how we arent afraid of crowds or uncomfortable in the presence of others, yet all suggestions present it that way.

If we really just hated people, we would take the prestige and let those who swarm us feel their unworth. We would be arrogant and bitchy, not a hermit that tries to avoid any attention at all.

We are acting not as we are described.
>>
>>23439404
>>23439389
>>23439362
Considering Millie's exceptionally high Body score, wouldn't Keeper be best because she can take a bashing and keep on tanking?

I feel the same way, and I now have more aspirations of starting a quest of my own.

Anyway, this just hit me a while ago.

>> You're acutely aware of the ogles you are now getting from the boys in the glass.

Every boy in our class is going to have a wet-dream about us tonight. And now I feel like I have to kill Prof-Trib in her sleep due to this realization.
>>
>>23439435
its actually the decision of the team captain. We will have to fly try-outs
>>
>>23439434
Just because we aren't afraid of crowds doesn't mean we want them near us. People are assholes, they should leave us alone.
>>
>>23439449
but we are letting people keep us from things we want to do and think are propper to do! As if we fear that something more terrible than them being there would happen.
>>
>>23439441
It seems like it would be smart for a captain to put together a JV squad of 1st and 2nd years for practice and drills. Maybe our girl is promising enough for that?
>>
>>23439449
Yes, but our distaste for them shouldn't keep us from doing what we want to do, or think we should do.
We aren't afraid of them, we just hate them. And a we can tolerate something we hate if it gets us what we want; like working a job you hate because of the good benefits and high pay.
>>
>>23439506

We need to prove ourselves maneuvering on our broom in the forest first.
>>
>>23439463
Hey, the Antisocial trait specifically states it 'drives us to isolation.' It probably wouldn't keep her from playing seeker, but I imagine she'd be happier without the attention.
