If he's good with it, we give our blessing; if he's against we deny. Don't want to annoy the Lord Sector Govenor needlessly either way; and one battle brother acting as a lifeguard with even greater fervor and dedication is an acceptable price for improved relations (and an agent in his court)

You feel the strange ebb in the warp, then suddenly you see Ashkenor, standing in front of an altar, drawing strange sigils and preparing for a ritual. Nearby is a massive mutated Red Giant, holding someone whom you think you remember from before, a very familiar soul, however the figure is shrouded by the mists of immaterium and you cannot see who it is... In the warp-verse it is so close that you think you can reach them with your hand, but... There is a small cog, holding the machine of reality between you. You understand that if you would break it, you could understand the situation before you to the smallest details, however breaking the cog here, can create a disaster worlds away...

Fate turns as suddenly your brain is filled with clear visions of what is happening.

Ashkenor the Wrathbringer and part of his warband are currently in Auctumnus, a ruined city-state on the surface of Prothera. They are controllling Auctumnian 'democratic' government through their cultist puppets and are preparing to take over the whole planet in time. Ashkenor and his bodyguard Borborygmos are at the moment preparing for a ritual of connection, to create a portal leading into the Corozia Secundus, a daemon world in the Grave, from where they expect to receive reinforcements. However such ritual would normally require tens of thousands of humans to sacrifice, so instead Ashkenor is using his most prized captive - Eldar Farseer known as Adriel, because her soul burns brighter than sun and will make a suitable sacrifice for this purpose.

Using your cog to alter the fate in different paths would bring following outcomes:
a) Adriel is sacrificed, but ritual fails and Red Giants try to kill Ashkenor for his lies, then leave Prothera
b) Ashkenor decides not to sacrifice Adriel, but instead he will use imperial citizens, it will take him a lot longer, she remains his prisoner, but Red Giants succeed to overtake another city-state
c) Ashkenor manages to open the portal without a sacrifice, but Red Giants then decide that their numbers are too few and Ghosts of Retribution are too close and leave through the portal to Corozia Secundus. Adriel remains in their hands

Destroying the cog would cause Chaos gods to abandon Ashkenor, taking away all of his warp powers until he proves himself again and would protect Adriel indefinitely, but would cause much pain for your Chapter... It would break a cog in one of your chapter's machines.
