Welcome ladies and gentlemen to another edition of Succubi Lord Quest! Continuing the marathon as I literally have nothing better to do! Huzzah!

Last time we left off, we discovered that Erika was fated to die. Brooklyn didn’t want this to happen, so he immediately hatched a plan in where would make her into a Succubus in order to avoid this fate. After reassuring Amanda and helping her with her teen crisis of sounding like she cannot do anything in the world, Brooklyn went home. After avoiding the temptations of Mina, Brooklyn told her of his plan, then set off to the Adamant Door to find Sebastien in order to enlist his help in this endeavor.

(Brooklyn gained: Magic-Fight! With each additional rank, the range, accuracy, and damage of all of your magic attacks increase slightly. This ability will naturally increase with time. Current rank: 3)

“...I think at this point I can hit targets at the same ranges you probably can with that sniper rifle of yours.” you reply to him.

“Yes. Being at range is perhaps the best way to avoid knife to the gut.” Sebastien says. “So why do you need someone like me for your little operation?”

“You know the layout of that city better than anyone else in the city, and your skills at tracking things in the wilderness is without peer. I was hoping that I’d get three things from you. First, telling me where we could find some Snow Pirate Bases. Two, exactly what kind of resistance we can expect. Finally, acting as a lookout to make sure no one else gets the drop on us.” you tell him.

(“I assume the hidden one is funneling them into that shrine?”) Sebastien mentally asks you while taking a large drink of his ale.

Well duh.

“Well I have some good news for you in that regard. The Blood Bars recently suffered a small internal spat, so we have some of their members now taking residence in that abandoned snow pirate base.” Sebastien says after wiping his mouth. (“Judging from the tracks, you and your friend most likely had a hand it in. I could tell from the exploded guard towers.”)
>>
>>23270393

[2/2]

Yea... Mina put a lot of power into those didn’t she?

(“Pity. Those ones were fun to scare.”) “But yea, this means that the closest snow pirate bases are the Blood Bars, and you’ll need to attack two seperate bases in order to get all of their members. I’d place an estimate at around 42. Most of the snow pirates there are only small time when you compare them to people such as the Viks.” Sebastien says putting down his mug. “They’re also a very superstitious lot. To the point where they regard me as a deadly spirit moreso than an actual man.”

Hm... Being superstitious... That could prove to be a big help.

(“Believe me it is.”) Sebastien replies.

You mentally call up other details of the plan. Such as where he can meet Mina, at what time, when you plan on arriving, and other various details.

“Got it. Anything else you need kid?” Sebastien asks.

(Anything else you wish to bring up with him or Brodin?)
>>
>>23270407

Well, after looking at his stat sheet, I think we could use some willpower training from him, but other then that we're good. I think it's time to talk to the queens.
>>
>>23270407
Okay, hammer out the actual plan, there's two bases and we need to be sure we get enough, how are we getting them all there in a hurry? Is it going to be us and Mina splitting up and convincing them separately that they need to go there because of treasure/spat/honor?

Does he have a way to herd them into the shrine once they get near? If the shrine is the only piece of cover he might take a few pot shots and go all scary legend and scare them into the place.

Ask what the Viks are.
>>
>>23270407

could we ask him about the possibility of him teaching Ericka about Mental powers? Mina and ourselves can teach her about being a succubus, but the only people we know who could teach her about the Psycic aspect of her powers are either Janine or Sebastian. Sebastian would be better to introduce her to her powers and help her develop them.

on an unrelated note; what would Sebastian think of us if when he read our mind, he could see the hiveminds decision making process?
>>
>>23270518

Oh, and we might be able to use his help training our newest succubus when this is all over. After all, he knows a lot more about psionics then we do.

worry about training after we convert her.
>>
[1/2]

“Have any idea how we’re going to funnel them into the building?” you ask.

“Well there are a few ways. First is to make them willingly go in there. The second one is a little more tricky, as it involves them thinking that building is the only safe place in the area. Now this is hard as basically you are then herding terrified animals more than anything. The further they are from the place you want to gather ‘em to, the more likely you’re going to have splinter people or groups.” Sebastien says.

“Any reason why they split up? Honour? Treasure?” you ask.

“Well the main reason is that Brikk, one of the higher ups in the Blood Bars, thought he’d make a better chieftain than the current one. Issue is that he never had a good base. He couldn’t make one either, as they all know each other well enough so they’d notice the drop of manpower, in addition to scouting patrols spotting it. But when he found a ripe and shiny base... well he gladly moved his men in.” Sebastien says.

“Can you tell me a bit of their beliefs?” you ask.
>>
>>23271174

[2/2]

“I’ll assume you only want relevant intelligence for this rather than an anthropology report on them. They are a very fierce, but spiritualistic people. They have a strong tradition to their family and ancestors. Many of them tend to be a bit nervous when moving into a new land their have taken, assuming they haven’t lived on it before. The new base probably worries him a fair bit. They *knew* people used to be there, but all they see are signs of a struggle any everyone just having up and vanished? Without a word from them? That’s bad luck for them.” Sebastien says. “Oh, and they often have a central totem in their base as a homage to their most influential and powerful ancestors. If it just... suddenly disappears or is damaged, then that is considered an very ill omen, and believe their ancestors will give them bad luck for disrespect befalling them.”

“And the Viks? I thought they were Northeast of here.” you reply.

“They’re expanding. As such they send occasional scouting parties to the city. Kind of a funny site as the Viks are superior in nearly every way compared to the Snow Pirates.” Sebastien says. “They’re very... opinionated, but unlike the snow pirates they are rather friendly to outsiders so long as you treat them with respect.”

“Yea, I heard they closely follow the Norse mythology.” you reply. “But are the rumors of them being so stubborn true?”

“They believe they are in Fimbulwinter, and anyone saying anything else to the contrary is mad. They also believe that the Norse Pantheons are the only gods that exist or the only gods that actually matter in the world. So long as you don’t mind that, they’re fairly good people. Did a few jobs for them back in the day.” Sebastien replies.
>>
Interesting. I wonder if we'll be able to scare them into heading that way. Maybe the ghosts of their ancestors are angry?
>>
>>23271187
Ask him if he is going to stick around this area in the future. As we and our friend could use some training with mental defenses/general psionic stuff.
>>
>>23271187
"Good things to know. I'll probably make them willingly want to go in there, I'd like to get both groups of Blood Bars if possible, but one at a time, I'm not sure exactly how much I need.

Ought to be able to convince them that something descended upon the last inhabitants of the base and that I can show them to a place where they can find something to protect them. Do they have any shamans, medicine men, spiritual leaders or wanderers? I figure I could imitate one of those easily enough.

They think you're a deadly spirit. What names do they give you?"
>>
>>23271187

one idea for a plan, could be to steal their totem and leave a lovely little path near the shrine. Then, we can use darkness control & solidograms to scare them into the shrine itself.
if we lure the larger group first, then it means that we can splinter a couple from the smaller group to be taken alive as Erikas first meal...
>>
>>23271187
So, the Viks are OK? I would prefer to only whack scum.
>>
Rolled 97

>>23271187
ok, lets leave the vikings alone for now, and focus on the blood bars. we could steal one groups totem and leave a trail to the shrine. after that group is daed we can "tell" the other group that the first on found a tech stash and is getting ready for a coup
>>
>>23271376

They sound ok so far, but the Norse people aren't exactly known for their peaceful ways. We'll keep an eye on them in case they suddenly decide that they want what we have, but until then, it's the pirates.
>>
>>23271187
We have enough info to plan our attack I think.
>>
>>23271501
Well, do remember that not all Norse men decided to go viking. It was an easy way to become wealthy, but not everyone went.
>>
>>23271501

how about we don't attack their bases, only raiding parties? this way, it is not direct aggression towards them, only defense...
>>
>>23271622

Dude, I love the norse, don't get me wrong. I'm just very aware that there's a big difference in their mind between friend and prey... and you don't even want to think about what they'd do to their enemies! As long as they look as us as friends and not prey I can't think of a better bunch of fellows.

[1/2]
From what you remember from the Queen’s, they’re probably going to need as many as possible. It’ll be best to empty out both bases. Do they have any shamens, Spiritual Leaders, or Wanders? You should be able to imperso-

“They’re misogynistic.” Sebastien says cutting your train of thought off. “They do have women, but their duty is to clearly stay at base and tend to the men.”

Fuck.

“The women buy into that crap as well, so you’d have a hard time convincing them. You may be able to impersonate one if you’re really careful. Of course that also has to do with somehow making the original one doesn’t find you point you out as a hoax.” Sebastien says.

“They think you’re a deadly spirit. What do they call you?” you ask.

“Lots. I keep forgetting them as each tribe calls me a different thing. The One Who Shoots Fire and Lightning, The Vengeful Spirit of the Old World, God of Old World Firearms, amongst other things. Pretty sure the Blood Bars call me the first one.” Sebastien says.

“Hm... I have an idea. We could use that totem against them. If we somehow move it to the collection area, we could then trick the pirates into going to collect it. They’re certainly all go because otherwise they’ll fear the wrath of their ancestors. After that, spring the trap, lure them into the area, bam.” you say.
>>
>>23271756

[2/2]

“The second?” Sebastien asks.

“Same as Mina and I did last time. Tell the others that their rivals found an Old World Tech cache, and they have to move ASAP if they want to stop them.” you reply.

“Hm... That could work. It would only force their military out though.” Sebastien says. “Mind you if their military is gone, then pretty much their entire defense against other tribes will disappear as well. Anyone left over is a prime target for other tribes and the various wild creatures that exist in this frozen wasteland and... Well quite frankly both are equally gruesome ways to go.” Sebastien says taking a long swig of his ale. “No skin off my back though.”

(Anything else you wish to mention or will that be it?)

Can you also teach Erika, who is going to be become an Ayarian Succubus soon? I mean you know far more about psionics than I do.

(“...The noble girl ain’t it?”) Sebastien asks.

Yup.

“Aw shit...” Sebastien sighs rubbing his eyes. (“I hate teaching kids...”)

Believe me, she’ll be very eager to learn.

“Hhhmmm... Been a while since I last had to teach someone...” Sebastien says.

Come on Sebastien. You’re the only one I know of. Queen Janine is the other, but contact with her is very limited.

“Fine fine I’ll do it... Just a warning, I won’t care if she bitches. I only teach the school of hard knocks.” Sebastien says.

“Taking a firm hand is needed with Teenagers at times.” you reply.

“...You know seeing you do this is throwing me off of exactly what the hell you guys are talking about.” Brodin says.

“Just mainly what he agreed to help me do for my... task tomorrow is all.” you say giving Sebastien a pat on the back in addition to handing him three silver for a drink. “Thanks Sabby. Here’s a thank you gift, don’t blow it all in one place.”

“Heh...” Sebastien says handing the silver to Brodin. “Have yourself a real drink.”

“...Maybe when my head stops pounding.” Brodin says as he drinks his orange juice.

[2/3]

“So how’d go!?” Mina asks as soon as she enters the room. You’re kind of transfixed for a moment by the sheer surrealism of a woman looking AND sounding *exactly* like Leona performing martial arts katas in front of you.

“...He agreed. He also gave me some intelligence, which is most certainly going to prove invaluable for tomorrow. All I need to do not is summon Janine and give her a warning before we actually do the plan.” you tell Mina as you head over to take the candles out.

“Oh yay! She’s such a nice woman!” Mina says.

“...Yea like reading my mind all the time without permission...” you mutter as you begin to set up the ritual.

You set up the ritual and perform it as per usual. What you notice is that when Janine comes out, her eye colour seems to be a dark green. You wonder if each Queen has their own summoning colour in a way.

“...Oh! Hello Brooklyn!” Janine says looking around your house. “Huh... Oksana said your place was cozy, but I expected it to be bigger.”

“Yea well it’s all I could af- OH SHIT MY RENT!” you cry out in horror upon realizing it.

“...Rent?” Mina and Janine ask.

“Yea. 30 gold every month! Usually I’m able to make it fairly easily with my teaching job in addition to other odd jobs, but with all the new stuff I’ve been doing... Oh shit...” you say sweating to yourself.

“He won’t accept a late rent?” Mina asks.

“Five days. After which he charges like a gold coin every day past due. It took some time to find this place!” you exclaim to Mina. “Worse yet rent is exactly one week from today and... Oh shit...”

“Well Brooklyn, you’re in luck as I know all about economics!” Janine says happily.

“Economics isn’t what I called you here for!” you say to Janine. “I came to give a warning. Remember those nobles girls? The ones you know about because you violated my mind in all likelihood?”
>>
>>23272735

[3/4]

“Oh but of course~.” Janine replies happily. “Though I can’t use any of my powers through this ritual sadly.”

“Yea well I have a problem. Erika is going to die soon, and in order to bump her off of that destiny, I need to turn her into a Succubus far sooner than I had originally planned.” you tell Janine. “Out of all the choices, she wished to be an Ayarian, and it must be done tomorrow.”

“Oh! That’s splendid! I’m so happy that I get to make new daughter! ...Well of sorts.” Janine says. “I assume you have a way to get the aether required for me to do that?”

“Yea. I’m going to empty one of the bandit bases nearby. Thirty or so men should be enough for you to transform her right?” you ask.

Janine gives an uneasy laugh, her face still smiling even though you can tell she’s disgusted. “Ha ha ha... Oh my those men taste horrible... Well I... Beggers can’t be choosers, and I’m strong enough to swallow my own Pride to say that at the current moment I’m a beggar.”

“Well, I want to run the plan by you, just to make sure everything’s in order.” you say as you begin to tell Janine of the plan you hatched out.

“Hm... Yes everything seems in order. Really Mina alone could beat them all, but capturing them all alive is going to be a far trickier thing to do. But your current plan sounds like it should work.” Janine says. “I’d suggest summoning an imp to serve as a communicator between the two parties. Have the imp follow Mina or Sebastien around, and if anything major happens, they can sent the imp back to you so and relay the message.”

“An imp to serve as a communicator?” you ask.
>>
>>23272743

[4/4]

“Oh yes, I used them all the time back when I was able to use magic. Communicator imps have the special power in that if you want them to deliver the message, they can deliver the message. They are incredibly fast, have a unique ability that lets them find their recipient almost no matter where they are, and can even speak in the exact voice the messenger used in the first place.” Janine says.

“Wow... That’s... pretty handy.” you say.

“They’re not much good at anything else, but they’re certainly good at their jobs.” Janine says. “Messenger imps also build a reputation for themselves, so they don’t talk about their jobs. Oh, and if you’re new to summoning, don’t ask the imp what he wants to do with whatever you give them.”

“Why?” Mina asks.

“Summoner custom. Really part of it is so that the summoned demon can keep privacy about his job. It’d only know it’s task and anything related to it, rather than the entire picture. In return, demons often don’t expect the summoner to ask what they’re going to do with whatever you give them.” Janine explains.

(Anything else?)

“Apologies for the rush job. I’ll try to get something you’d like later on. Speaking of summons, what does a messenger demon usually ask for?” you ask.

“Anything I should tell a rookie Ayarian specifically?” you ask Janine.

“Yes. If you get a nosebleed, then either stop what you’re doing or be very cautious. An Ayarian’s mind is like a woman, a very sensitive and delicate thing. Things such as Headaches for us is often enough to make us want to sit down. If we get a Migraine... Well let’s just say I find childbirth less painful.” Janine says in a completely serious tone.

“So be careful with her powers?” you ask.

“In essence, don’t try to push your psionic powers to the limit unless it is absolutely critical. In all likihood, she’ll ignore this and attempt to do later in the future. But once she suffers the first Migraine then she’ll remember it as well as her first kiss.” Janine says. “Sounds like tough love, but there is really no way to describe such a thing other than the worst pain you can possibly imagine. Many don’t realize how bad that is until they’ve actually felt it.”

“How do new demons tend to act?” you reply.

“That’s like asking if someone won a million dollars. It’s probably easier to say what wouldn’t they do.” Janine replies.
>>
>>23273822
>he was gentlemanly, polite, and overall a good date
That was it though. He had no depth. Or at least we didn't interact with him enough to reveal any. It was just "You meet a guy, he's perfect, you fall in love with him, the end. No you don't get any say in who your character likes."
>>
>>23273927

[2/2]

“Well can you give advice for how to handle a new Succubus?” you ask.

“Hm... Well seeing as she’s a teenager, you’ll want to explain to her the basics of her powers and give her some space. She’ll need some time to adjust, as you probably did. After she’s adjusted, you let Sebastien begin to train her. ...Of course she wants to start training right away, then all the better.” Janine says. “As for feeding... Well all those people is going to be the bare minimum required for me to change her. Similar to the way when we transformed you into a Lord, she’s going to be very hungry when she first transforms. When a Succubus first transforms, they’re probably going to be halfway delusional from hunger, and will basically follow their instincts to feed on something.”

You mind recalls those snow pirates that you drained when you first transformed, and how your hunger basically drove you to do it. You were so hungry back then that it felt like as if you’d starve. “...Wait, does that happen *every* time a Succubus is extremely hungry?”

“No. Just as each individual human acts differently, so would each Succubus.” Janine replies. “It just that back then, your confusion of your new state and your hunger probably let you to do it.”

(Anything else?)

>>
>>23273935
Look... Lets just all agree never to bring him up again okay?
>>
>>23273822
>>23273899
No, I meant that if we do feed from a man in should be in a situation we have no other choice and on an enemy if possible so we can get everything out as fast as possible. There's no reason to actively look up for men to sleep with when emotional feeding is currently enough to sustain us or when we could use suggestion to date rape some cute woman/feed from our cute students while they are still humans..
>>23273977
Sleeping with Brodin would kill us
>>
>>23273938
"So we're either going to have to have some snacks lying around for her or just let her drain some from us. It'd probably be less traumatizing to have her feed from us.

Thank you for your time Janine, I have a long day tomorrow and would like to get started on it."

>>23273977
I like Brodin, but he's a drunk and more of a bro than anything romantic. Also, his Aether poisons us so no draining, that kinda defeats the purpose.
>>
>>23273977
If you mean as a boyfriend? We frequently feed on aether during sex and his is apparently poisonous to us. You could also just make your own OC and have us run into him/her eventually.
>>
>>23273998
Feeding from women is inefficient and nowhere near as good as feeding from men. Emotional feeding is good, but sex with men gets it for us faster and is a good time all around.

We're a fucking succubus, restricting ourself to one gender is silly.
>>
>>23273983
Good plan.

>>23273977
I would be down with fucking Brodin. If it didn't make us violently ill. Which it would do.
>>
>>23273938
NOPE, Not a thing.
>>
>>23273938
So in addition to getting the men Janine needs for the transformation, we'll also need to make sure we're as full as can be to feed Erika when she awakens.

Tell her we have nothing else to ask, then relax for the night with Mina/Leona.
>>
>>23274029
Where the heck does it say that feeding from women is better than feeding from men. Either way, Still not a direction I want to take Brooklyn in. Can we shelve this argument until a halfway decent male show up?
>>
>>23274029
>we can feed from kissing
>we don't want to take enough to kill them to begin with
There's no difference other than we get our feeding from kissing rather than fucking. Unless you're saying that the speed at which we drain them factor into it during actual intercourse.
>>
>>23273938
"We'll need to leave so bandits alive then for her. Thank you for the info. Hopefully, if things go as planned, we'll see you tomorrow night."
>>
>>23274029
We can actually drain from women with sex and kissing as well, we just need to use our tail for the sex instead.
>>
>>23274094
Agreed. Time to take Mina's innocences. All of them
>>
just as a reminder, Mina has been teaching us how to copulate Without draining.
also, she has two of our innocences, though we still have at least one more... though cant remember which one... i think it might be that of our tail... or was that our second one...

but back to business, just thank Janine for her time and help. we need to rest up for the fun we're going to have tommorow.

with a total of 40ish targets, i'm sure that a couple could be put aside for Erikas first meal...
>>
>>23274124
I don't think Mina has any innocence left in her, she worked in brothel after all.

Personally, I rather have her drain a bandit. Yes, being turned is going to dramatic for her but having her drain a bandit it seals the deal that, yes, you are no longer human. Welcome to your new world. It's not like she'll be doing it by herself and any support she needs will be there. Hell of a lot better than what Brooklyn had.
>>
>>23274381
draining from another succubutt is a very drawn out process, remember when we drained mina? took a long time to get barely anything.
>>
>>23274407

true, it only strenghened our resolve to not let it happen again... and to be more careful... and to meet Mina... who then stole two of our inocences...
>>
>>23274381
depends on how much aether she needs after the transformation, and how much we have in reserve. Brooklyn at 100% aether has about 4 humans worth or aether, but there is next to no way we'll be at a full tank.
>>
>>23274351
I don't want any man, because I think that he's relentless insistence that he does not like guys is a positive trait, and one of his defining ones, which he has expressed frequently. I was simply saying that we should suspend the argument since we are not going to solve anything and only resume if we ever find a halfway decent guy.
>>
>>23274407

No you are wrong.
We can feed just as well from women via use of our tail and is just as good (if not better in Brooklyn's mind).
>>23274472
and I am with ^ anon. As we saw so far, all the succubi we met insisted that it's ok to be with both genders. So having Brooklyn restrict herself to preferring only females is a nice and interesting character trait. (then we meet another lesbian succubi and get drunk together while ranting how we are a minority, or something)
>>
another option is TELLING Erika before she transforms that she is going to be starving for aether, would she mind if we left some bandits alive for her?

if she seems unsure about killing them, it's good to know that they would probably be put to death if captured. Death by succubutt vs death by the noose.

“That’s probably about it for now. Thanks for the help Janine.” you say as you give a curtsy in front of Janine.

Janine does the same with her trenchcoat. “I hope your little quest goes well.”

With that, Janine simply vanishes.

You look up at your clock, realizing it is nearly 1:55 AM already, way past your bedtime. You probably spent more time in the hot spring than you originally expected.

You yawn loudly as you take off your clothing. “Man I’m beat...”

“Yea... I’m tired too... I’m going to need a long rest in order to prepare myself for tomorrow...” Mina says taking off her dress.

You then walk behind her, putting your hand under her arms and groping her Leona sized breasts through her bandage bra. “Then after this is all over...”

Mina simply smiles, turning her head and giving you a kiss on the cheek. “Can’t wait. Perfect copy isn’t it?”

“Well... Leona’s tits were a bit softer...” you say to Mina as you shift your hands around her bra a bit.

Suddenly you can feel the breasts giving off less resistance, until your hands themselves are sinking into their cloud like softness. “Better?” Mina asks.

“Perfect.” you say nuzzling her as you give her one more firm grope before letting go.

“...Wow... No wonder the girl said she doesn’t like them... I’m taking one step and they already feel jelly...” Mina says walking to the bed.

“I don’t think she got over them really.” you reply to Mina as you put out the fire.

“...Yea I think I’m going to keep them for a few days as well.” Mina says as she begins to shapeshift back into her form.

“Ah ha ha! Who said you could change back!” you say to Mina.

Mina only laughs as she shakes her head, turning back into Leona. “Oh you...”

With that, both you and Mina climb into bed and fall asleep blissfully together, you being all the more giddy for having a new toy to snuggle up to during the night.
>>
>>23274853
/tg/ almost always when they have a female character decides to go full lesbian, it's not really an interesting character trait, it's common here.

I find that rather restrictive and it lessens our food pool by a fair bit.

Brooklyn hasn't even tried it yet.
>>
>>23275012

******

You yawn waking up the next morning, your eyes adjusting on your clock to see that it’s about 10:25 PM right now. Brodin is on the floor next to the fireplace, but Mina is gone as well.

You’re confused for a moment, looking around the apartment before you find a note on the desk.

“I went aheado to the sight. No worry! I won’to hunta any piratee until Sebastien-(?) arrives. Signed, Mina.”

You can only sigh at the letter, it being written in a form of bad Engrish. Mina can speak english well, but she probably has some issues writing it compared to her native language. You’re a bit annoyed she went ahead, but you trust that she won’t do anything stupid.

You go ahead and begin to prepare for the imp summoning ritual. Compared to the Queen ritual, this ritual is fairly simple. Just a small magic circle and a few seconds of chanting some words in Latin. Normally mortals would need to drop some blood here, but since you can channel aether you can skip that step and just use your own aether instead.

Once you finish the spell, the spell circle glows a deep violet colour. The floor in the circle seems to warp into liquid before a tiny hand reaches out from the floor, the liquid wood dripping off of him, planting his hand on a hard part of the circle and dragging itself out. Looking down, you can see that the creature is only just a little bigger than your actual hand itself. It is currently wearing light purple leather armour and has short blue hair. It has four, rather large wings for a creature its size. It appears to look like a man in his early twenties, dressed as a scout.
>>
>>23275017

[3/3]

“I have answered your summons mistress.” The imp says getting on one knee, putting it on the now solid floor. “What task do you ask of me?”

“I wish for you to be a relay messenger for an ongoing task I am planning for later today. There is a demon named Mina Kazanari in the city northwest of here. Your task is to find her and listen to her. Tell her that Brooklyn Browning sent you and you are to relay any messages she has for me. I assume that you won’t have any problems finding me?” you ask him.

“None whatsoever mistress.” The messenger demon replies, then points over to your dress that is hung up. “In return, I want three buttons from that dress.”

...Well that is certainly random. It isn’t your teaching dress, so you don’t need to worry about looking indecent in front of Brothen.
>>
>>23275021
Give him the buttons, Janine said not to ask. We'll replace them later.

"Very well. Should I be in public view of some kind, unless you have some way of relaying the messages to me without drawing any attention, you ought to wait until I am in private to give me the message.

Thank you."

So we've got a busy day ahead of us, teaching job, bandit hunting from two different sites, and so on.
>>
>>23275021
Weird imps. Give him the buttons I guess. We can get the dress repaired later.
>>
>>23275021
You know I feel like making some sort of snarky comment about how the imp just wants to look at Brooklyn tits.

>You can just ask to see my tits you know?

Nah. Give the little dude the buttons and start readying the lesson plan for Brooklyns job, if it's not done already.

How are we on Aether? And would we have time to drop by of small snack of sorts?
>>
>>23275021

accept. we can always buy replacement buttons from a shop later.

prepare our combat attire for later, change into our teaching attire and spend the last bit of time cramming the rest of the book that we have to return to Ada today.
>>
>>23275021
Give him the buttons.
Also make sure to say not to reveal himself to other mortals (if he is going to relay message back to us).
>>
>>23275071
Seconding.
>>
>>23275021
Done, and thank you.

Give it a kiss on the cheek as well, might as well give it a tip, right?

Then transform into our warrior form and head to the snow pirate base after Mina.
>>
>>23275134
It didn't ask for a kiss, and we've got a teaching job first, we didn't set up a substitute and we've had enough absences to be suspicious already.

Also it'll give us a chance to check up on Erika/Leona and say hi to Ada since we'll already be there.
>>
>>23275158
It didn't say no kisses either.
>>
>>23275112
>your dress that is hung up
We're not wearing it, he doesn't even get to see tits.
>>
>>23275179

it didn't say it doesn't want us to break ourselves to it, but that does not mean that we will.
let us keep this strictly business. flirting will only complicate things, especially since the imp has been portrayed to be male.
>>
>>23275226
It's also been portrayed as the size of our palm with huge wings, which I find adorable.
>>
>>23275210
I missed that. Shame on me and the imp.
>>
>>23275240
And that is out of character for Brooklyn to do.
>>
>>23275253
I'm not saying we should kiss the imp, but Brooklyn is remarkably touchy-feely, look at out interactions with the Noble girls earlier, we spent most of the night hugging, kissing and holding at least one of them.
>>
>>23275242
Yeah. Wanting tits I could understand but putting in a couple of hours work for three plain buttons is just weird. I guess there's no minimum wage in hell.
>>
>>23275274
>girls
I think this is the key word in that case
>>
>>23275279
the imp could have a bottom collection
>>
>>23275279

Or they have a very different concept of value. They may get some metaphysical effect from those buttons your puny human mind cannot even conceptualize!

Or they like buttons.
>>
>>23275274
ture. But that doesn't equal finding small things cute and wanting to kiss them. Mina maybe would, but not Brooklyn.
>>
>>23275330
A button collection and a bottom collection are two very different things.

>>23275319
No reason to restrict that to girls. Also this thing is the size of our hand, hardly threatening, very potentially cuddleable. Brooklyn is a total hug-slut. We need more Brodin Bro-Hugs.
>>
>>23275274
>put a man into a bath with 4 beautiful woman
>expect him to not be touchy feely
>>
>>23275366
Not even that interaction alone, we spend a lot of time hugging people, look at the Twins, look at several of our interactions with the Noble Girls, not just the pool one.

Do not restrict the cuddles to but one gender, that's like keeping the Tea to ourself and ourself alone. It's just not right.
>>
>>23275330
Then he could ask for one button from each of our dresses, to get lots of exiting different types of buttons, rather than just getting a couple of identical ones.

>>23275339
Maybe they use them as shields or something. Tiny armaments for tiny people.
>>
>>23275364
>A button collection and a bottom collection are two very different things.

>No reason to restrict that to girls. Also this thing is the size of our hand, hardly threatening, very potentially cuddleable. Brooklyn is a total hug-slut. We need more Brodin Bro-Hugs.
the imp is like 6 inches it's too small for effective hugs, plus we don't know him
>>
>>23275394
I have no problem with restricting cuddles or any other activities by gender and/or relation (or lack of it).
>>
>>23275415
>the imp is like 6 inches it's too small for effective hugs, plus we don't know him
And he sees this as a business deal. Acting all cutesy would probably insult him.
>>23275394
Cuddles are means to feel up and comfort the girls. It's not tea, you cant compare the two.
>>
[1/2]

You decide not to ask, as per Janine’s instructions. You simply make a darkness tentacle slither over to collect the buttons. “Also, it is imperative that when you deliver messages to either of us that you are not seen by any mortals. Is that clear? Would that increase the price?”

“Crystal mistresses, and no. The price shalt not change.” the Imp says.

With that you make the darkness tentacle hand him over the buttons. The looks over each of the buttons carefully, before putting them into a pouch in his side.

“That is it from me. You may begin your work immediately.” you say to the demon. As soon as you say that, the glowing runes on the circle fade away into just plain chalk.

“I have experience in being a distrect messenger in many wars mistress, I shall not let you down.” the Imp says before its wings start to flutter. Then the next time you blink it appears as if he’s vanished completely. No noise, no sound.

“Hm... These guys are probably going to be a lot more handy than I originally expected.” you say to yourself as you sit down in your chair and begin to study. You want to burn through the luck ritual before you hand the book back to Ada.

...And as luck would have it? You think you actually nailed it JUST before you need to head out the door for your teaching lesson.

(NEW RITUAL! Craft Good Luck charm/Jynx charm. By making a small trinket and carefully designing it so it is auspicious for fate, you can make a small trinket into a good luck charm! This makes it so that what is normally a critical failure is treated as a normal failure instead! This magic only works once, which after the trinket contains no special power from then on out [Though you may reapply the ritual to it once more if you please]. Another version of it allows you to make a bad luck charm instead, where any failure is instead treated as a critical failure. The magic within the trinket can be held up to one month)
>>
I don't want to do anything sexual with a guy, but I don't have a problem with this. Brooklyn is really touchy feely, and it seems more of a friendly, cutesy thing then anything else. I say let Brooklyn do it and make the more... expressive people that are following this adventure happy.
>>
>>23275613

[2/3]

After that, you head out the door for your lesson with Brothen.

******

“...Now you see here, since 1 doesn’t go into 2, we need to move onto the next step.” to point to Brothen’s paper.

“...But there’s still a zero!” Brothen exclaims.

“Then all we do is simply bring down the zero here, put a zero up top and... viola. We are done with the long division.” you tell him.

“Hm...” Brothen says looking at the paper scratching his head.

You don’t blame him. You’ve been having Erika and Mina on your mind all day, so your usual teaching caliber isn’t the best it can possibly be.

“Well, remember that long division is just division, and that division is the reverse of multiplication.” you say.

“Mistress, I bring urgent news to you from the bubbly one.” you can hear the imp whispering in your ear.

You look around carefully, but you cannot see the imp at all. In fact Brothen doesn’t seem to notice either.
>>
>>23275622

[3/3]

“Fear not mistress, the child cannot see or hear me. But the bubbly one and the Ranger have run into complications. They have successfully captured the first bandit base. A few casualties on the snow pirate side, but ultimately enough according to the bubbly one. However there is a grave issue with the second camp. Apparently an Adventurer group from the Church of Illysia have beat the bandit base. Casualties from that Snow Pirate base are also light, but the Adventurers seem to plan on bringing all of the base captive to a nearby town at sundown. The Adventuring group consists of a Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard, and Paladin. Both the Cleric and Paladin follow the Church of Illysia. They appear to be new adventurers, but still rather powerful. The Bubbly one doubts she’d be able to take them all on, even with the Ranger’s support. The Bubbly one and the Ranger are currently holding their position, keeping an eye on the group, but they are inquiring about possible orders.” The Imp says.
>>
>>23275634

Dammit Adventurers. We must start a campaign to destroy them by sending out progressively more powerful minions!
>>
>>23275634

Whisper, "have them wait for me. I will be done here soon and I will join you right away" Then go on with the lesson.
>>
>>23275671

lol. With carefully controlled rest periods between each wave I'm sure.
>>
>>23275634
They said they wouldn't start without us. Idiots. Well, now they have to wait.
>>
>>23275634
Fucking Adventurers. I wonder if we can bluff them into giving us custody of the bandits if we tell them they (the bandits) will see justice at end of rope or something.

Goddammit.
>>
>>23275708

Well...yes. That's important. We are a succubus, not a monster.
>>
>>23275634
Continue our lesson, while using hidden message to tell the imp that we'll join them as soon as we finish this after we get brodin and maybe Ada
Also if we can get the adventurers alive we'll have a better snack for Janine
>>
>>23275634
Do we need bandtis from the second camp?
would the ones we captures be enough?
>>
>>23275634
Well they took them captive for us, nice of them.

Finish the lesson.

Then let's go see Ada, inform her of what's going on more or less, see what her plans are and how they might hit Erika, then head out.
>>
>>23275762

You need most of the bandits from the second camp or else Janine will not have enough.
>>
>>23275722
They have a paladin, he'll be all "detect evil" and then we'll show up because we STILL haven't finished learning aura hiding and all demons count as evil to Illysia. And we can't just send Sebastian because one person can't control that many prisoners by themselves.
>>
For the record, we need to jinx something for one of the girls to give to Langy, on the off chance that he actually -does- die in a legitimate accident.
At the very least, it could help us in a fight against him or to capture him for very little effort on our part.
>>
>>23275791
I wonder what an army of soliograms would look like to 'detect evil.' Hmm ... would they be based off the caster? Or would they have nothing?
>>
>>23275839
Probably nothing. They're just illusions, they don't have morals.
>>
>>23275791

Then we send Brodin in, have him go all angel mode on their asses and tell them to take the prisoners to a nearby building to face their judgement! Try your demon seeking "detect evil" on that!
>>
>>23275790
Then, finish the lessons, get Ada and Brodin. We need full party to counter theirs.
>>
>>23275762
there were about 42 blood bars split between the two camps, so assuming a 50/50 split more then half of the remaining bandits
>>
>>23275854
So we make a small force of soliograms that look like one of the merc guilds from Fort Hope Then send Sebastian and them to demand the bandits to be brought in under Fort Hopes laws or whatever. Just throwing ideas out there.
>>
>>23275857
This is actually a pretty good idea.
If we play this right, we can have more than just criminals and lowlifes to feed Janine. I wonder how often they get to consume Clerics and Paladins.

Also, Sandact, when can we expect to develop a taste for a particular kind of person?

Eh. I'd let the adventurers go. We have yet to kill anyone that might be considered a good guy and I'd like to keep it that way if we can.
>>
>>23275906

We already have developed a taste for a particular type of person. It's called women
>>
>>23275634

enlightened?
>>
>>23275958
adolescent women...
>>
>>23275906

In all honesty, so long as the thread keeps electing to go after them. I'll say how Brooklyn feels about them at the moment, and depending on those feelings you can elect to go after them. Male or female.

>>23275966

Adventurers are always enlightened.
>>
>>23275932
Letting them go would be much more difficult than feeding them to Janine. We'd have to convince them to give us custody of the bandits because if they find out anything about the shrine we simply -cannot- allow them to live.
They most likely wouldn't even speak to us, and would attack us on sight, which would mean that we kill them anyways. Might as well just do it the much simpler way and get something out of their deaths.
>>
>>23275958
No reason to restrict ourself like that, and the preference thing they have is much more related to their personality than that is.

>>23275906
Not often enough, they would like that. And we do not like Illysia at all. If we can take them alive safely that'd be good, might be worth another Succubus or two if we can take them all.
>>
>>23275932

Yeah...I'd rather pass on actually doing harm to people genuinely trying to do good. We have an issue with angels who are dicks. As long as these are decent enough people? We don't really have cause to hurt them if we can avoid them.
>>
>>23275981
>Adventurers are always enlightened.

>>
>>23275993
They're Illysia, they consider our existence something that ought to be purged and killed, letting them wander around our backyard is a terrible idea.
>>
>>23276005
>two of them are elysian affiliated
I'd assume angels
>>
>>23275987
>>23275993
A compromise, then. Tell Brodin to try to get them to give him custody, and if they refuse, then he can tell relent and lead them to the shrine and their doom.
They either agree to the only thing that would let them live, or they die in a manner that is beneficial.
>>
>>23276020
ah, but only Cleric and Paladin follow the Church of Illysia
>>
>>23275987

Not really. We have an angel on our side. They have true faith. If Brodin breaks out his angel kit and tells them all to butt fuck each other, they'll probably do it. Then never even need to know we were there.
>>
>>23276012

Technically only 2 of them.

I'm not saying we shouldn't deal with them if they actually pose us a threat...but I'd like to thing Brooklyn is decently humane when they can be. Even if they don't like us, they are likely trying to do good.

I'd prefer to avoid killing them unless it's absolutely required.

>>23276042

Not my preference...but at least it gives them a chance.
>>
>>23276062
Yes, but do you really think they would party with people bonded to demons?

Not just the Cleric and Pally.
>>
>>23276078

...is there any other options I wonder. Elementals? Fey?
>>
>>23276042
I'm fine with a compromise. All Brooklyn can do is give them a chance to walk away from this.
>>
>>23276042

Sounds good to me. I'm not suicidal, I just don't want to kill good guys if I don't have to.
>>
>>23276086
>The Adventuring group consists of a Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard, and Paladin. Both the Cleric and Paladin follow the Church of Illysia.
I read that as the party's leader is either the Cleric or Paladin and the others are hired help
>>
>>23276117
They probably work like any regularly-run party. Just a band of people working towards their own goals who find it convenient to work together for a time. A Cleric and Paladin of Illysia, though, I'm sure, would absolutely refuse to work with someone enlightened by a demon.
>>
>>23276096
And I have no problem removing what may be a pain in the ass on the long term, if they keep hunting snow bandits.
>>
Uh.... wouldn't brodin be slightly opposed to killing adventurers aligned with his boss? Like, this seems like the sort of shit that'd get him in trouble.
>>
>>23276162

Possibly. We'd have to find out.

At the very least, looks like the general consensus here is 'Don't kill unless we have to'.
>>
>>23276162
Celestia is not monolithic.

That said, the only reason I have an issue with letting them go is that we need the aether.
>>

Brodin opposed to people dying when it's their time... Let me think about this for a bit... Too bad he isn't part of their church.

God damn Adventurers! You’re going to need a campaign to destroy them! You need to send progressively more powerful minions afte-

...No. This is not a game.

“I can understand how this is confusing Brothen. Tell you what. Let’s go back to normal division for a minute, then after we’re more familiar with that we’ll go back to long division.” you say taking out a sheet of about 20 problems. “Think you can work these out?”

“I... I can try... I think I can.” Brothen says.

“Good. I’ll wait a few minutes before coming back. Good luck.” you say smiling to Brothen and giving him a pat on the back. Getting up, you make a small ‘come here’ signal to the Imp. You sit down on the chair and speak very quietly, so that Brothen cannot hear.

“Tell them to keep watching for now and to notify me of any movements the adventurers are doing. I’m going to try and bring some reinforcements of Ada and Brodin.” you then look at the clock in Brothen’s room, seeing that you still have another hour left. “Tell them I also have one hour left on my job. That’s it for now.”

“I shall deliver it right away mistress.” The imp says before you assume he speeds off towards Mina.

“...Miss Brooklyn, I have a problem with this question...” Brothen says pointing at his paper.

“And I have answers!” you say getting up and walking over to Brothen.
>>
>>23276182

We have plenty of sources of aether without them. I mean, Langly and that Greed demon in charge of sacrifices pop to mind right off the bat, and I'm sure there's plenty more Pirates around. Hell, we might even talk the adventurers into sending us regular shipments of pirates as part of their goodly duties!
>>
>>23276256

[2/2]

******

After your job with Brothen, you immediately head over to try and make contact with Ada. You head over to her room, thankfully not encountering any royal guard on the way before knocking on her door. “Excuse me, Lady Marisa. I have that book you wanted.”

“Oh! Lady Brooklyn! Just a second!” Ada says on the other side of the door. She opens the door, mainly still in her nightgown, but it seems as if she’s preparing for something. Her face lights up in mock delight. “Oh thank you! I’ve been looking all over for this book! I assume you had a look through it as well?”

“Oh yes. I certainly learned a thing or two from it.” you say, wondering what you should break asking a favor to Ada.

(For conquering most of the book, Brooklyn’s Aetheric/Occult theory increased to Good! rank! This is also the ability used for spell accuracy!)
>>
>>23276195
It's probably not their time yet though, we'd be cutting it short. Not that they have a reliable time, being enlightened.
From what he said in the baths, he is part of their church in as far as the reapers work for Celestia.
>>
>>23276264

Good rank! Then all the headaches were worth it! *cheers from the crowd*
>>
>>23276283
He also said that he only -technically- worked for Celestia. Also, he can't shy away from indirectly leading to someone's death like that under the excuse that "it isn't their time". If it weren't their time, then we couldn't kill them anyways. We make it their time by killing them.
>>
>>23276283

But he also made clear that mortal religions don't really cover what's actually going on. You could say he's aligned with that church as much as he is any other church, but that doesn't really mean much when you think of just how diverse all the religions out there are. I mean, if you're a catholic, that doesn't mean you have to follow the teachings of Mohamed, do you? Even though both worship the same god?
>>
>>23276264
"I'm wondering if I could impose on you for some tea?"

Then get right to it after we're in her room.

"I don't really have a lot of time here so I'll cut to the chase, I need help, now. Can you provide it?"

If we need to provide more info for her. Then;

"A group Adventurers have captured a number of bandits. Bandits I was going to sacrifice tonight. Before you ask 'why not other bandits?' Can't. I need these ones because they're the closes to the location. This is very important to me if you can help, I would greatly appreciate it. If cannot, that's fine. I know you have plans in the making of your own."

Eh.
>>

I'd rather have Ada keep an eye on Leona and Erika for the day, and Leona after we take Erika off for her transformation.

then we take Brodin with us to catch the adventurers, between the four of us they shouldn't cause too many problems.

Over concentration of resources though... We don't need Ada to wipe our asses for us after all. If she's got things in hand here and wants to come that's cool, but if not we'll be fine without her. After all, worst comes to worst we get to try out our cool new abilities!

Leona wasn't in danger last night, what if Erika disappearing for a while causes Landry to sacrifice Leona as the next best thing?

and explaining things to Ada would be fairly simple.
>>
>>23276810
So Landry is sacrificing tonight? Because that's news to ... well everyone I think. Erika isn't going to be gone for more than a night at best. We explain the basics to Erika and let her know she can talk to Ada, if she needs help right then and there. And having Ada return with her after turning can be a good thing.

Unless we're planning on keeping Erika in our house all the way to Thursday or beyond.

“Might I bother you for a spot of tea milady? I have some rather interesting things to discuss. (I need your help. Bad.)” you say to her.

“But all means, please come in.” Ada says waving you into her room.

“...Are we good talking here?” you ask.

“Nearly all the time. What’s wrong Lady Brooklyn?” Ada asks sitting down on a chair.

“Things have become complicated. First of all one of my students, Erika Langy, is fated to die this Thursday night.” you tell Ada.

“...Yes... That coincides with Langy’s empowerment ritual.” Ada says. “Erika is most likely going to be sacrifice.”

“Exactly. Even if I save her, fate may say she has to die which will only force Brodin’s hand. In order to save her, I’m forced to turn her into a Succubus far sooner than I thought. Mina is out in the ruins Northeast of her along with that Psionic ranger we met. She cleaned out the first base of about 17 or so people, but the issue is the other camp was taken over by a band of Adventurers. A Church of Illysia Paladin and Cleric are amongst them.” You tell her.

“...Oh my.” Ada says listening to this. “Are there still enough Snow Pirates left?”

“Mina thinks so, as the Adventurers took most of them alive. The issue is the group is going to moving all of the Snow Pirates to a town near here at sundown.” you say.

“...What’s the group composed of?” Ada asks.
>>
>>23276901

Honestly? If Langly in involved, we are already working with one hell of a messy timeframe.

He may be not exactly king of the Demons...but he's Enlightened. That means he can fuck with destiny by existing.
>>
>>23276965

“Paladin, Cleric, Rogue, Fighter, and Wizard.” you tell her.

Ada sighs. “Adventurers are always a pain. You have *no idea* how much more often people would hire them over hardworking Succubi like us. Racism I tell you.”

“I know this is sudden Ada, but I need your help if you can spare it.” you her.

Ada sinks back into her chair and sighs. “I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place... For one, having an actual Langy noble in the castle, and an *Ayarian* no less would make my job of taking over the castle far more easily. Especially since she can not worry about the shapeshifting. But... If I do so I’d miss the socializing gala tonight. I was going to spend some time there to finalize some suggestions on people.” Ada says.

“So it’d interfere with your plans?” you ask.

“Short term yes. Long term no. It’d push Langy’s assassination back another... Week I’d estimate.” you say.

“...Wait a second. Gala? Erika could be in danger!” you reply.

“Don’t worry about that Brooklyn. If Langy is going to sacrifice her, then she’s going to be guarded almost as well as Langy himself. Erika is brash, but I cannot think of anyone who want her dead. ...Beaten yes, but not dead.” Ada says. “I don’t mind helping you out on such a thing however, as believe me, I’d *really* like an Ayarian in here with me. Even just the ability to freely read surface thoughts on a whim is a gift from the heavens like you wouldn’t believe. If you don’t mind pushing Langy’s death date back, then I have no qualms with helping you.”

(In addition to Ada’s choice, you get to select one Ability for her!

A) Potential: Three Ranks, same description as everyone else. Increases naturally with time.

B) Counter: Three Ranks, same description as everyone else. Increases naturally with time.

C) Awareness: Never considered Flat-Footed when caught by surprise. Can still be flanked.
>>
>>23276975

[3/3]

D) Backstab extra: Sneaky Flanker: Ada can perform backstabs against flanked opponents, but they can still attempt to parry/dodge the attack at their full defense bonus. Backstab damage up.

E) Backstab extra: Silent and Deadly: If Ada attacks a flat-footed opponent while unobserved, she may attempt to perform a coup de grace against that opponent, which causes an instant KO if successful (She may elect to knock out or kill). Secondly, she may attempt to perform Sneak Attacks against flat-footed foes even while observed. If using a sneak attack in this method, she is able to attack opponents who are normally immune to sneak attacks with a large accuracy bonus.

F) Knife Mastery: Increased Damage with knives. Increased Crit range (90 or higher is a crit with knives)

G) Water Mastery: Increased effectiveness with Water Control Magic.

D, we have a lot of flankers, and we can use our Exploding Light Goons to flank like a motherfucker, this gives her consistent damage.

"I would love your help for this. Thank you very much, I appreciate it.

If the guarding she is under is overly extensive I may need your help getting her out of the castle tonight for the transformation.

Also, if it doesn't interfere with your method of killing Langy we may wish to bring him to Janine for a sacrifice, nobles are her preferred meal."
>>
Backstab extra: Silent and Deadly, and if she's got something to do tonight let her do it. She knows what the situation is now and she can help from here. We don't need her with us and I want langy sacrificed ASAP.

Well, you know what I mean. If he does...anything Aethery, that's fate rippling as it changes.

So while we are opposed to him, we can't rely on fate rituals to provide us with all we need.

...which is also why we should probably be careful he doesn't just go for the second option when his first vanishes.

Limited time? You mean like the twins getting back and us working out the kinks for our trip to T.O.? The sooner he's dead, the sooner we can focus on the next step. We've got more going on then just what's in this town and we need to start preparing for it.

She only said that her purposes require his death to appear to be an accident. We can meet that requirement while still sacrificing him, as noted in the previous thread.

Yea, we might have only met him once, but he's been a pain in the ass this whole time. The only reason we had to fight that pride knight is because of him. Not to mention, once we kill him we can kill the Greed demon in charge of those sacrifices. Let's kill him before another of our students or friends gets targeted for death, ok?
>>
>>23277455
I agree that we should kill him, wholeheartedly. One week isn't going to make much of a difference in the long run, though. One week is an acceptable delay for Ada's backup in case of a fight.

“I’ll need all the help I can get.” you reply.

“Yes, I often prefer more long term things over short term ones. I grew up out of the short term mind trap mortals often find themselves in. I’ll agree to help you.” Ada says. “But sundown doesn’t leave us with much time.”

“I’m aware. We’re going to need to double time it there if we hope to make it on time.” you tell Ada. “Meet me in front of the shrine. We’ll head over to meet up with Mina and Sebastien after.”

“Got it.” Ada says as she gets up, pulling out the wooden stick that was keeping her hair together. She then walks over to her bed and begins to search under her pillow. “Now where did I put... Ah.” Ada then pulls out two knives from under her bed.

You leave Ada’s room without saying a word. One down, one to go.

(+4 gold due to job)

You head back to your place, quickly throwing your bag aside. You almost tear off your clothes with the speed you take them off at.

“...Woah, where’s the inferno?” Brodin asks looking up from his book.

“Mina and Sebastien ran into a complication. A group of adventurers captured the second base full of people we were going to give to Janine. They’re leaving at sundown and if we don’t capture them then things become a whole lot harder.” You say taking off your dress and flinging it on your bed.
>>
>>23277455
>Fact: With him dead we get full access to the library.
Not time sensitive
>Fact: With him dead our revolution becomes a hell of a lot harder to detect or stop
We don't want a revolution we want a covert take over and that require him to be dead anyways.
>Fact: With him dead we gain control of the government and can proceed to do whatever we want.
Why are you using the same argument twice?

>Pride Demon Knight
That was mostly our fault. I'm pretty sure Langly aura sighted us when we met and called backup.
>Greed Demon
I'm also pretty sure Leona told us that the Greed Demon teaching the human sacrifice ritual is in TO
>Get targeted for death
The chance of this happening are low, lacking a sacrifice for the ritual langly will be faced with some choices, Leona should be low on the list as she already know the ritual. That may leave Ada as a likely target.

“...Huh... Hm... This book is good but... You need a hand?” Brodin asks.

“I don’t think you can help. There’s a Paladin and a Cleric in the group who are associated with the Church of Illysia.” you tell him as you grab your leather armour.

“...So?” Brodin asks, sounding confused.

“...So don’t you work with the church?” you ask.

“...Affiliated is probably a better term. I don’t even know the official relationship. All I know are my job details of a Reaper down to the letter.” Brodin says. “In short, so long as anyone takes hostile action against a Reaper or attempts to bar them from their duties, then we are free to deal with them at our leisure. Same goes for anyone stupid enough to attack us mentally, magically, or physically.”

“...What?” you say, not sure you’re believing this.

“Yea. I’m legally allowed to kill Angels from Illysia, provided they attack me first or bar me from my job.” Brodin says. “This is why people are often afraid of us. Because we have free reign to kill almost anyone with barely any retribution. This is also why we’re not exactly liked by everyone, but rather just tolerated.”

“You’re shitting me. What aren’t you allowed to do?” you ask Brodin, amazed you’re heading this.

“There are very few people with special fates. I cannot kill Sebastien before his time for instance. Also an obligation to take care of undead such as wandering souls and zombies, but for me dealing with people living past their fates or weak poltergeists is my main duty. I wasn’t kidding when I said I enjoyed this job. I’m basically a freelance cop with a license to virtually do whatever I please.” Brodin says closing his book.

Upgrade Crossing the River Styx, none of the rest of us can really do any status effects, and improving the AoE status effect thing would be great for this group of adventurers and any hordes of enemies we end up fighting.

If you take Executioner again, you can autokill enemies at 50% health or less.

But Brooklyn took Amanda's innocence, so then Mina can take ANOTHER innocence from Brooklyn.

Mina is an innocence hoarder.

Necrotic Shield Upgrade and Gravity Scythe Crusher

B and Executioner for a thousand, Alex.

And I think >>23277636 has right idea for reaction.

>>23277663
>Even -more- than ten percent upgrade to Instant Kill
Does Cleave work with Executioner? Because if that's so, then I change my vote from >>23277654 to C and EXECUTIONER.
If it doesn't, then just leave it at B and EXECUTIONER.

>>23277692

It does, but the second attack must be a mundane attack. It cannot be a unique or magic spell.

I wonder when she'll tell Brooklyn that Santa isn't real. Take Brooklyn's childish innocence and view of the world from her, crush her dreams.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if people actually believed in Santa considering we're in a constantly snowing land and the tech level and historical accuracy has dropped quite a bit since modern days.

The others will have various extras. I cannot think of any right now. Too late to think. I'll post them in the next thread so you can vote on them though. At the very least, the power of each will go up.

River Styx. A confused, blinded, poisoned enemy is easy to drag off for a sacrifice, a dead one is not.

How about you -read- the descriptions, idiot?
If you have Cleave and Executioner, then your EXECUTION will allow you another, normal attack on an adjacent enemy.

B and Executioner. Having that third rank of Necrotic Shield as soon as possible is quite a priority. Free massive damage mitigation is a must.

C and EXECUTIONER seems like abilities which go good together, I pick them.

Gravity: 5
Styx: 1
Executioner: 4

A: Forever Alone

C: 3

All attacks have the ability to try and break a limb, though doing so is somewhat tricky without getting really lucky.

>>23277812
Can Brodin use Styx while purposefully withholding the Instant Death?
If it weren't for that, it would be far and away the best way to deal with large groups of potential sacrifices.

You think A was forever alone. D was so left out that even you forgot about it!

>Insert an awesome, badass extra for Gravity scythe Crusher here!

If you don't mind suggestions...

Necrotic Infection: Chance to infect enemy with a Necrotic poison on successful hits

Ground Shatter: Misses will launch necrotically-infused chunks of the ground up to deal much less damage than a hit to the missed enemy

Also, regarding the relationship between Necrotic Shield and Horseman of the Apocalypse: Death, once Necrotic Shield costs nothing anymore, will Horseman of the Apocalypse: Death gain something else to Necrotic Shield instead?
Say...
Damage dealt to enemies who hit the shield in melee?
>>
>>23278110
personally I'd like Crusher to have a bonus to crushing limbs
>>
>>23278144
sort of a bone crusher
>>
>>23278110
How about

Reverberating Impact: Upon successful strike, target receives additional internal trauma, based upon size of target. Additional ranks of Gravity scythe Crusher allow for finer control of reverberations, for example allowing the user to impact one part of a target and have the reverberations inflict damage elsewhere or to localize it only at the impact site for greater damage.
>>
>>23278110
What about it getting progressively heavier? So we can sort of spend more time on the attack to make it more effective.

Or enhancing it with gravity control for different directions allowing for more versatile attacks.
>>
>>23278266
I considered recommending a form of gravity control that let you quickly reverse the weapon's momentum after the first strike, letting you get a second, weaker strike in.
>>
>>23278266
OR we target someone when we use it and they get gravitated towards the scythe? So not only does the scythe gravitate towards the target but the target gravitates towards the scythe for extra impact.
>>

(Brodin’s effectiveness with his shield increased! Brodin’s rank in Gravity Scythe Crusher is raised to good!)

"...That's totally awesome. You can do pretty much whatever you want. I'm glad we're friends, you can sleep on my couch any day. Thanks for not trying to reap my soul and being a damn good friend.” you say to Brodin.

“Ah no worries. Not everyday I have a demon lord for a friend either.” Brooklyn says.

“I just have one question, if something happens does your boss pull you in, call you a Loose Cannon, and ask you to turn in your Scythe and your Hood?” you ask as you put on your pants.

“Wonder what I did to piss them off. Really I don’t try to abuse my rights *that* much, but what you want me to do compared to the other Reapers? Barely anything. Hell, some Reapers literally openly work for other people. So long as their original jobs takes priority over the agreed job, they don’t care. But... There was this one big fiasco where a high ranking Reaper decided to work for this one Vampire Duke, putting the Duke’s job over his own and...” Brodin seems to close his eyes for moment and visibly shudders. “Well calling a shitstorm is like calling a hurricane a gentle breeze.”

“Huh... Interesting. You need to tell me that story sometime.” you say buttoning up your vest and grabbing your hat. “Now come on, time to hit the road and deal with some adventurers!”

“Right behind ya.” Brodin says pulling the book down on the desk, grabbing his scythe on the way out of the house.

[2/4]

(NOTE: I forgot to make the imp tell you the location. I’ll do a minor retcon and have him tell you where Mina and Sebastien are)

Finding the trail to where Mina and Sebastien are is a bit tricky, but eventually you do manage to find the street. You enter the building, looking around at the various debris on the snow and frost covered floor. But the footprints of Mina are easy to make out, but oddly enough none of of Sebastien’s footprints. Finding a stairwell that leads up a flight of stairs. The stairwell appears collapsed at the eighth floor, but you only need the sixth floor. At this point your entire party is making sure your footsteps are as silent as possible, easily doable with the rugs on the floor. Gently opening the door, you can notice a bored looking Mina, sitting in a chair with a cubical wall behind her. Her clothing appears to be damaged and torn a bit, but Mina appears to be in perfect shape.

“Brooklyn! Brodin! Ada! You made it!” Mina says in a hushed voice, her face lit up.

“Yea sorry if we took so long. We came as fast as we could. Where are the Adventurers?” you ask Mina.

(“The Street below us. I’d suggest that you remain as quiet as possible.”) Sebastien says in your mind. (“The Rogue has exceptionally good eyesight while the Cleric and Paladin have a strong will. Unless you’re exceptionally good at Stealth, don’t go past Mina or else they’ll most likely spot us.”)
>>
>>23278310

[3/4]

You carefully sneak over to where Mina is, looking around the corner to see if you can see Sebastien, but you see nothing. It actually takes Mina pointing to the floor, and sure enough you can then seen Sebastien’s cape and boots. They appear to blend into the snowy floor he’s lying down against almost perfectly. Next to him you can see his anti-material rifle, but that’s out of side. His head is positioned right against the edge of the building, looking down at the streets below.

“Any idea how we can see the situation then?” Brodin asks.

As soon as it is said, you can see an image flash into your mind with snapshot like clarity. You can see a two men in armour surrounding a rather large campfire, eating what appears to be some sort of wild animal. You can tell which one is the Paladin as the Paladin’s armour has tacky white and gold trimmings in addition to a sunburst shield. You can see an image of a rather buff man with a gold tiara and symbols of the Illysian church on his armour currently trying to heal one of the wounded Snow Pirates, hands glowing a soft golden light. A male white haired elf in black robes can be seen next to the fighter, reading what appears to be a rather hefty tomb.

...Where’s the Rogue?

(“He’s in the guard tower. He’s very good at hiding.”) Sebastien says.

“What kind of skillset are we looking from the opponents?” Ada whispers as she cloaks herself, walking to get a look for herself.
>>
>>23278314

[4/4]

(“The Fighter is a Warlord. A natural genius in melee combat, uses a broadsword. If he gets in your face, then he’s not going to be easy to shake off. All of his attacks seem to pack a wallop to boot. The Paladin is mainly a defensive type. Build like a tank and capable of doing divine retribution to people if they try to ignore him. The Cleric is a support role. Providing healing and various other supports, such as blessing his comrades weapons or showing the opponents with the ‘light of heaven’. The Wizard is nearly all offense. Wide assortment of AOE’s and single target spells at his disposal. He tends to say in the back, but with reach of the Cleric should he need help. The Rogue typically either breaks off from the party to attempt to attack any fragile looking members or combat supporter roles. He’s also in excellent shape.”) Sebastien says.

You’re surprised he managed to collect such a detailed report.

(“The hints are all over the base. The scars of recent battle. But a large chunk of it has to do with that I’m switching back and forth between hearing the Fighter’s and Rogue’s surface thoughts at the moment, then piecing together things from there.”) Sebastien says. (“Needless to say we don’t have much time left. As soon as the Paladin and Fighter are done eating, they’ll be leaving with all of the Snow Pirates.”)
>>
And I'm done for the night. Feel free to use this thread to plan how you attempt to tackle this problem. I'll answer any questions about the base in the next thread.

..Oh yes, one more thing.

("I'd also be careful around the Paladin and and the Cleric. Their attacks can really tear into various creatures. Mostly 'evil' ones such as Demons.") Sebastien warns.

>>23278319

Sounds like it's time to put operation "Angel Brodin" in effect! Have Ada stand by ready to take down the wizard if things look bad, and Mina ready to jump down to help Brodin while Sebastien and Brooklyn provide ranged support.
>>
>>23278385

And by ranged support I mean Sebastien pops the paladin while Brooklyn pops the cleric.
>>
>>23278346
Okay first thing first, do we want to assassinate the rogue or do a synchronized attack against the whole party, targeting the rogue could get them a man down if are successful, but if can escape we lose the element of surprise.
>>
>>23278409

First we try to get our resident angel to try talking to them. If that fails and he gets out peacefully I'd like to use Ada's new skill to knock them out if we can and take the prisoners. If there's trouble while he's down there, the plan that's already up should do a decent job dealing with them.
>>
First we send Brodin out alone to see if we can convince them to give him the captives so he can bring them to a secret place for purifying their souls.
If they refuse, then he can relent and lead them to the secret place, where they all die.
If they -still- refuse, then Ada knocks the rogue unconscious, assuming she can sneak up on him, or the wizard if not, while Sebastian takes out the one Ada doesn't. If he can't get at the one Ada can't get at either, then he goes for the Cleric, but tries to only incapacitate him, not kill.
Then, Brodin goes for the paladin, Mina goes for the Warlord, while we sit back and fling spells at whoever's left with Sebastian and Ada backstabbing at her convenience.
>>
>>23278319
Don't say anything out loud, just think it for Sebastien to relay.

("Understood. People, incapacitations would be nice, but only do so if you can do it easily, not make yourself vulnerable doing so, and can ensure they'll stay down for the rest of the fight.

Seb, Ada, you two need to coordinate, the two highest priority targets are the Cleric, and the Wizard, the Wizard is squishy and the Cleric's buffs are dangerous to keep around. Decide which one of you is taking which, try to end it in one shot.

Once that is done Mina, Brodin, you are to engage the Fighter and Paladin in melee, Brodin, take the Paladin, he can hurt Mina more than he can hurt you. Me and Seb will provide fire support from a distance. If you need a pile of exploding goons on your position to get you some breathing room I can provide them, just give me the signal.

Ada, I don't want you staying in melee, after you take down your target return to stealth. I'll be making myself into a target while Seb remains nearly invisible, the Rogue will be coming after me, I'll be the bait, your task will be to intercept him before he can stab me in the back and stab him in the back first. Keep an eye on him, if he's getting close and you won't be able to get to him in time signal me, I'll shadow jump and leave an explosive clone for him to stab.

Any thoughts, questions, or additions?")

>>23278474
>>23278385
I don't really like the Angel Brodin plan, I don't think it'll work and it'll ruin the element of surprise we may have.
>>
>>23278486
We can make a soliogram clone of ourselves to act as bait to get the rogue. Even better, make it explode upon backstab.
>>
>>23278409
Focus fire on the cleric first so they don't have healing.
>>
>>23278486
imo the cleric should be first priority as we doesn't want to face more than we need to blessed weapons
>>
>>23278486
Why would they even consider that an Angel is allied with a group of demons, or even isn't someone to be trusted implicitly? The Angel Brodin plan has a very reasonable chance to work, and the potential payoff is quite worth it.
It's too bad we can't implant our suggestion through others' words yet. That would almost ensure their cooperation with Brodin.

As a side note, one way we could convince them is that Brodin has us captive, but isn't quite powerful enough to destroy us outright, so he needs their captives in a special shrine to help fuel our destruction.
>>
>>23278486

Why wouldn't it work, and what element of surprise would we lose by having an angel visit them? It's not like they're not already keeping watch for any threats.
>>
>>23278486
This sounds perfect, amplifying our strengths and covering our weaknesses.
>>23278567
>>23278570
No one likes reapers, they are not trusted and i think they know enough about their religion to tell the bullshit that plan would give them.
>>
>>23278567

I'd rather they had no idea we were ever there unless we have to take them down. Let Brodin go in alone while we keep watch. Sebastien can keep us in real time communication while we're ready to rain destruction on them if anything goes wrong.
>>
>>23278565
That's why I suggested for Ada to take either the Cleric or Wizard, and Seb to take out the other, probably through using "A Certain Psionic Railgun" at as high as it goes if it's the cleric, I could see using richochet working well on the wizard.

>>23278528
Might work, problem is casting, casting reveals our position and we won't be convincingly able to make them think the clone is casting. Maybe cast from some shadowy corner and whisk ourself away when the time comes leaving an explosive clone behind us, and as he gets hit by the clone exploding Ada stabs him in the kidneys.

>>23278570
>>23278567
Nobody really likes Reapers, they won't particularly trust him, it'll put them slightly more on alert, instead of eating they're wondering why in the hell a Reaper is here and paying attention to their surroundings.
>>
>>23278599
He doesn't have to tel them that he's a Reaper, specifically, just an Angel. We can give him pretty wings of light and shit to make it look convincing, and the Paladin's Detect should do the rest.

>>23278565
seeing as 3/5 of the party is demons this is vital, if we can eliminate him before he can bless the fighter and rogue then we'll only have one holy weapon to worry about

First off, reapers aren't liked, that's different from not trusted. Everyone knows that they do an important job and that's why they can go wherever they damned well please. If they weren't trusted they wouldn't have the freedom they do.

Second off, an angel tells people with true faith that they must do something. Do they even have the option to say no and keep their faith?

If they know enough about Reapers they know they they kinda exist outside Celestia hierarchy, yeah they technically are part of it, but they go where they please and do their own thing. They won't take orders from a Reaper, that's not how the chain of command works, and throwing illusions on him won't work, they'll be seen through pretty quickly by at least one member of the party and then the jig is up.

If they don't know that much about Reapers they won't take Brodin's orders as these guys are Adventurers, they are the sort to deal with threat first with violence, and investigate later.
>>
>>23278685
>>23278702
They all worship the same faith, so if one calls BS then the others will probably listen, and the paladin and cleric are more likely to call BS due to their knowledge of their religion.
>>
I'm glad I wasn't able to put forward my plan of luring the bandits to the shrine by telling them "YOUR ANCESTORS WISH TO SPEAK WITH YOU". Especially since the succubi pretty much ARE ancestors, of a sort.
>>
>>23278786

Based off everything Leona said about their religion it doesn't work that way. Angel > all. No exceptions. That's exactly how the chain works. He's got wings so his word is law.
>>
>>23278792
This still only means that they -might- refuse, at which point there's nothing stopping us (the two raptors you never knew were there) from taking them by surprise. It is almost no risk at all for a great potential reward with a still reasonable chance of working.

While Brodin's talking to them, Sebastian can feed him useful information about what the possible dissenters are thinking so that Brodin is even more likely to convince them.

The longer we talk about this, the more ideas I'm going to get to increase Brodin's chances of succeeding.
>>
>>23278823
Leona also didn't know that Reapers were part of Celestia. I really wouldn't take her word on anything theological right now.

Either Illysia generally believes Reapers work for the underworld, which is possible I suppose, or they do know that they work for Celestia, which still doesn't mean they'll obey him.

Remember, this is an Adventuring Paladin we're talking about, Mr. CLEAVE AND SMITE himself.

>>23278862

>>
>>23278893
These are professional murderhobos, they won't be fooled, at least not for any significant period of time, by any illusions we cook up like that. At least one of them, if not more, have supernatural vision of some kind, including Aura Sight, they'll notice something being weird if what looks like an Angel to the naked eye has an Aura of a undead.
>>
>>23278882

She doesn't know everything obviously, but once she saw those wings she shut up and listened. From that moment on anything he said to her was like the word of god himself! As for maximum alert, if they did do that it would only help the rest of us because if they're completely focused on Brodin like that then the rest of us are going to be a really nasty surprise if they don't play ball.
>>
>>23278910
It's a damn good thing he isn't undead, then, isn't it? The only time his aura is unusual is when he has his Cowl up, which hides it entirely and perfectly.
We don't have to have the lights up all the time, just for a brief moment when he appears, to set the mood. And it won't actually be an illusion of wings, just a burst of real, wing-shaped light. You can't see through something that is actually there.
>>
>>23278910

Hmm.. Aura sight. Brodin's second ability... angel of death.. hmmm.. angel.. I'm afraid that I don't see the problem. Aura sight confirms that it's an angel just fine.
>>
>>23278916
And she was sheltered, didn't know all that much about the religion, and other influencing factors that aren't common to the current situation.

And we really do not want them on maximum alert, we don't want them to have Aura Sight and whatever other sights they may have on right now, we really don't want them to take a break from lounging and eating, we don't want them to form up and pay attention.

>>23278939
>>23278942
Read his profile, he's Undead, it says so pretty clearly. He may also be an Angel, but he's very much undead. Either we put on a stupid illusion that gets seen through, or they notice he's a Reaper, neither of which is good for us or will predispose them towards trusting him or doing anything, anything at all, that he says.
>>
>>23278777
lol
>>
>>23278956

I have provided you with multiple reasons why they would listen to a reaper while you haven't provided a single reason that they wouldn't other then your say so. If you can find ANYTHING in any of the threads that would point to their not listing then I'll be glad to deal with that. Until then I'll stick with Angel > all.

As for maximum alert. Nice. They are completely focused on the scary Brodin in front of them. That makes them even less likely to notice the rest of us because Brodin's so scary. ... I don't see the problem.
>>
The tl;dr version; have Brodin show up, quite possibly while drunk, if they they don't give, just light-dazzle-blind the lot of em to incapacitate them, if that doesn't work, kill them.

Frankly, I'd hope it doesn't come to that, but... yeah. We've made a promise to Erika.

Hey, how good a tactic is slapping light/dark blindfolds on people? I don't think they could be pulled off easily if you put barbs on them, and it should put anyone out of a fight. We can use solidograms to deliver the strikes.
>>
Why are we even arguing about this, it seems to me that the people who want to go the angel Brodin plan are the minority, its showing that they won't be convinced due to them thinking that they are the the best and everything the spews out thier mouth is gold, and avoiding the obvious criticisms on their plan while them themselves can't think of any on ours.

We just need to out vote them, at the end of the day.

So, what's your plan? Attempt to kill or sacrifice a bunch of adventurers to our dark gods, while a large bunch of prisoners are watching and wanting to make a break for it?
>>
>>23278956
Ah, I did have that backwards. I thought he had some of the effects of being undead without technically being so. He actually is technically undead while not having some of the effects.
I've been reading through the archive, though, and I can't find anything indicating that his aura makes him recognizable as undead.

>>23279041
It isn't a matter of Angel vs. Fighting, it's a matter of attempting diplomacy -before- turning to fighting. When there is no real drawback to doing so. Remember that these are, essentially, good people that we would prefer not to -have- to kill.
If you want to vote for Brooklyn to simply kill anyone who is vaguely in-her-way-ish regardless of what kind of person they are or whether they can help Brooklyn in the long run, feel free to do so. I can't help but think you'll be in the minority on that, though.
>>
>>23279041

I just love that he tried to claim that the people that didn't want to randomly go murderhobo with in the minority only to have 4 posts in a row call him on his bullshit.
>>
>>23279029
Them being on maximum alert doesn't mean they will only pay attention to Brodin, it means they'll be paying attention to him and turning on all of their different vision abilities and scanning the area because they're not idiots.

That is much, much, much, much, worse than them sitting around eating a snack and reading a book.

We have no reason to suspect that they'll listen to him at all. Leona was a sheltered religious girl who had never seen an Angel in her life, she's going to be much more obedient than seasoned Adventurers. The Cleric will know his theology and know that Reapers while technically Angels and under the command of Celestia do their own thing and hold no authority over them.

Do you really think that an undead angel will stroll up to the adventurers in the middle of fucking nowhere and they'll do what he says for no fucking reason? No warning bells will go off at that point? They won't be suspicious in the least? Really?

All that sending Brodin out like this will do is put them on alert, damage our chances of having the element of surprise, and make our lives more difficult and complicated.

>>23279091
The same sort of thing that would make his aura recognizable as an Angel or ours as a Demon.

There is a drawback towards doing so, it means instead of getting a sneak attack on unsuspecting enemies we get much less of a sneak attack on alert, on guard, enemies.

These guys aren't just in our way, they're valuable sacrifices for the Queens, they're working as part of Illysia, an organization that we are in direct opposition to, and not the sort of people we want wandering around our back yard fucking with our territory.

>>23279119
>These guys aren't just in our way, they're valuable sacrifices for the Queens,
Fuck you.
>they're working as part of Illysia, an organization that we are in direct opposition to
Double fuck you. Let's go kill Brodin and Leona and throw their bodies to the dread queens since they aren't entirely under our direct ideological and spiritual control.
>>
the way I see it Brodin is probably just going to be stalling for time, then while he's diplomancing Ada is getting in to position, and brooklyn is creating invisible minefield. when it all goes to hell Brooklyn and Sebastien ranged alpha strike either the cleric or the wizard, Ada saps the rogue, brodin checks the paladin, and mina gets the warlord
>>
>>23279144
Brodin is a bro and a good friend, and we're already subverting Leona's faith to put her in our camp, not to mention she is not a danger to us.

Those two are completely different than a heavily armed band of Enlightened/Awakened murderhobos traipsing right next door to where we live, presumably with standing orders to murderize any Demons they find. They are a clear and present threat.
>>
>>23279041
I also enjoy a healthy debate, and this is quite entertaining in that regard. My roommate does not enjoy a healthy debate, so I have to get it where I can.

>>23279119
>Do you really think that an undead angel will stroll up to the adventurers in the middle of fucking nowhere and they'll do what he says for no fucking reason? No warning bells will go off at that point? They won't be suspicious in the least? Really?

Which is why he next relents and offers to -show- them what he's going to do with the captives, leading them right into our trap. They go into the shrine, the Queens pop them out of their bodies into their own little plane, and everyone enjoys a nice good snack.

An offer is much more appealing when it seems the person is conceding something to you.
>>
>>23279119

Dude. They've got how many prisoners and you're telling me that they're not scanning the area now? Please tell me some more of this fantasy you're living. You claim that Leona's and others reactions don't count and yet you can't find anything in all these threads that support what you claim their reaction should be. Brodin is one of the most scary things around and yet suddenly these people in hostile terrain, who are already set up to spot any trouble will suddenly be paying LESS attention to where he's at to pay more attention elsewhere? Man, you have an active fantasy life.

Please. If you're going to even pretend that you're not just name calling while sticking your fingers in your ears at this point, please just try to find one thing in any of these threads that indicate that reapers get anything less then complete respect from everyone they deal with. Just one thing. That's all I ask.
>>
Guys, better question, what are we going to do when Leona or Amanda ends up on the chopping block next? We need to have plans to get them out.

Now we know the probable method of death, we can tell Leona her sister's likely to be sacrificed and we can save her from that fate, which is fine, but there's only one way to do that and have her keep living.

That, and we need to get all three of them out before they're sacrificed.
>>
>>23279259
Better question, yet, what are we going to do when they attempt to sacrifice Erika without knowing that she's a Succubus? What are we actually going to do about the -cause- of her death? Being secretly a succubus doesn't take her off the Sacrifice list.
>>
>>23279221
Thing is you don't plan to make Brodin go to them as a reaper, you plan on dressing him up as a angel and tell them some BS that will probably clash with their orders, let alone been seen through be their own knowledge of their religion.

I'd be okay with the plan if it was something more along the lines of >>23279181 or >>23279153.
>>
>>23279259
Amanda doesn't live at the "castle" so the odds are she'll be fine and leona father is lord Langy, but Erica's isn't
>>
>>23279259
>That, and we need to get all three of them out before they're sacrificed.
I think the only reason Erika is being sacrificed is because she has no blood relation to Langley himself, Leona is part of the family and part of her birthright is to do the sacrificing, and Amanda is from a different noble family, sacrificing her would be too much trouble for what it's worth.
>>
>>23279221
Brodin literally said people tolerate Reapers earlier in this thread, they dislike them and are afraid of them and they are legally allowed to kill anyone who gets in their way. These guys are Awakened, Reapers make immortals and those who have exceeded their natural lifespan, which is what pretty much anyone with Aether does, in order to keep on living. He said they're affiliated with the Church, but not part of it, and are separate from most of the other Angels.

Seb said the Rogue is in the tower watching, but the rest are eating and reading, not exactly scanning the area. Their prisoners are secured.

I said that the reaction of a sheltered girl who had literally never seen an Angel before, and who really did not react well to Brodin's reveal, is going to be very different than the reaction of Adventurers who are on a mission. If an Angel shows up instead of lounging about, like they are, they will turn on all of their sensing abilities that cost Aether, which is why they're presumably not on right now, and look around.

They aren't going to say "Look, an Angel of Death, the type of being who kills people who exceed their natural life span no matter what they are affiliated with, hey Bob, you suffered an otherwise mortal wound last month and didn't die, he wants us to come with him to a strange place in the middle of nowhere, let's follow him guys! What could possibly go wrong?"

They have no reason to trust him, no reason to follow him, they know their Theology so they know he's not the one in charge of them.

>>23279181
Why in the hell would they follow him? They've got their marching orders, they aren't going to just happily go along with it, it's a big risk that'll cost us our element of surprise.

>>23279259
Leona is part of the main family, won't be sacrificed, Amanda isn't part of the Langy family at all, they're both safe.
>>
>>23279283
Once she's a Succubus we can fiddle with her fate all we want without fear.

Brodin said once it happened he'd clarify it to his superiors and no Reapers would be sent against her, at least not for a good long time, and one it does happen it'll be a newbie Reaper's hazing ritual and she'll be strong enough to take him on.
>>
>>23279296

Actually, I always said to let him go as a reaper. I said that the illusions were unnecessary, and I agree with you that they actually raise the chances of these guys getting suspicious. As a Reaper he already is an angel. We don't need more. If others really want to add some flash then I don't care enough to argue the point, but my main thing is we've got someone on our team they should listen to, why not give that a shot before going murderhobo on their asses. That's all.
>>
>>23279332
Its all in how you present things. Being an Angel -does- count for something to people of faith, and he won't come right out and say "Follow me to this secret place I want to show you something."
He starts off by saying that he needs their help, and requires custody of their prisoners. If they wish, he'll provide compensation. When they refuse, he'll reveal a bit more about why he needs them and relent by telling them "Look, I'll even let you come watch while I do it, to make sure it isn't for evil. I know Reapers don't have the best reputation around, so I can understand you not trusting me right away."
He makes it seem like them coming with him is not something he wants, but will endure if it means he gets the captives.
>>
>>23279283
I didn't think we'd leave her at the castle at all.

It'd be somewhat of a blow to her, but... yeah. Better than being killed and sacrificed.
>>23279332
>They've got their marching orders
More like, they're a bunch of murderhobos, and they thought going to kill some bandits hooyah would be a fun night out as well as JUSTICE!

They're unlikely to be given orders "YOU MUST DEFEAT THESE PARTICULAR BANDITS"

It'd completely be a good plot hook for them for suddenly RANDOM ANGEL OF DEATH.

Brodin can actually make a good case for saying he needs to "question" some of these bandits. If they want to come along or not, up to them, if they don't fine. No skin off Brodin's nose.

And seriously:
>THEY ARE ALLIES OF CELESTIA THEY MUST DIE
>THEY WILL NOT RECOGNISE BRODIN AS AN ANGELIC AUTHORITY

Make up your mind. If they're paranoid they'd rather retreat than attack an angelic figure out of nowhere - they've likely just gone through a fight and NOT want to get in another.
>>
So present Brodin as being there *doing his job*. He's there because the bandits are supposed to die -- soon, and in a certain place. No, his boss hasn't told him why. Yes, they can have the heads afterwards for bounty collection if they want.
>>
>>23279380
why even mention evil in the first place? There is no reason to put ideas into their mind where none may reside. If they have qualms about that, deal with it when it comes up, not before.
>>
>>23279332

Ok, you actually took something from the threads. I can work with this. I never once argued that they were liked, but when you mention that Reapers are legally allowed to kill anyone that gets in their way, you're leaving out an important part. They are allowed to do so because it is universally agreed that their work is vitally important. If these people know anything about religion, which with true faith they should, then they should know killing a reaper is a pretty damned fast way to get kicked out of the church. I mean, let's forget about politics and all the other issues. Do you really think for a second that their bosses are going to want to risk Reapers boycotting their lands?? Reapers are Angels. No one messes with them because their job is vitally important. These people are not just murderhobos, they're religious murderhobos. That means that they are not going to want to do stuff that would get the heavens really really pissed at them... like killing an angel. Does this make sense to you?
>>
>>23279380
The Cleric and Paladin ought to know enough about Reapers to know that they aren't part of the standard Angelic power structure, can take side jobs, and pretty much do whatever they want.

All this will do is lead to us losing our element of surprise and the opportunity to take 2-3 of them out with alpha strikes and mopping up the rest handily.

>>23279395
Both are true, they're part of Illysia, which is directly opposed to us and we really don't want a group of Aetherically awakened adventurers with a hate on for our kind walking about. And Brodin hardly counts as an authority they'll listen to and obey, Reapers are tolerated, not loved and respected, and do not fit into the Illysian chain of command.

They might not attack immediately but it'll twig every single paranoid sense they have and ruin our surprise attack. That means we don't get a chance for Seb and Ada to instagib the Wizard and Cleric making it an easy fight. I want an easy fight.

If you're an Adventurer, a Random Angel of Death is not a cause for celebration, it's a cause for paranoia, distrust, and being ready to fight.
>>
>>23279471
I didn't say they'd automatically attack Brodin, but they will go full paranoid, as in Shadowrun levels of Paranoia if a Reaper shows up, which will reveal our location and lead to them defending themselves.

In addition, I would not be surprised if people with their abilities beat out their death clocks pretty regularly, it's a natural part of using Aether and being in that profession. Brodin did say it was common practice to make people who use Aether battle for the right to keep on living. When someone who as far as you know has a reason to want to kill you triest to convince you to follow them somewhere quiet things get testy.
>>
>>23279478
But he's still an -Angel-. I'm not saying that makes them automatically do whatever he says, I'm saying that it makes them consider it honestly with the slightest bit of favor.

And it still doesn't guarantee that they will notice the rest of us. We're all out of line of sight except for the two people who can hide their auras, and we don't even know if they -can- see auras.
Coincidentally, the two people they won't see even when they are looking are the two important people for getting a surprise attack.
There is -nothing- at risk for trying, and, again, Brooklyn hasn't attacked any good people so far. She doesn't want to start now, unless absolutely necessary.
>>
>>23279395
>More like, they're a bunch of murderhobos
They will be Lawful good, and if they were murderhobos then the bandits would be dead already, i think there orders are more along the lines of "Bring the bandits to x, there they shall receive judgement/redemption in the eyes of god."
>>
Welp, I'm going to sleep. I just can't stay up any more. It will be interesting to see how long the murderhobos that want to randomly kill everyone will keep going.. You guys are outnumbered. can't you just try talking?
>>
>>23279559
>Lawful good
>members of an illegal cult
>>
>>23279568
Lawful good in their eyes, don't forget the the world has been taken over by 'evil' demons to them, to them this cult is the fighting force against the evil.
>>
>>23279542
I would be very surprised if none of them could see Auras or had some other level of vision beyond normal, it's pretty much the most basic of basics, not to mention Seb said the Rogue had exceptionally good eyesight.

Them going full paranoid raises the chances of us being discovered by far too much.

These are people that if they knew about Brooklyn would try to kill her on the spot. The Church of Illysia considers us a horrific abomination and I do not want these guys wandering around near where we live.

>>23279564
I am fine with talking when talking is warranted, in this case it isn't. This is not a random killing, it is a planned out killing to take them down efficiently with minimal loss. Talking makes that more difficult and will quite probably lead to a fight anyways, but one where we don't have a large advantage.
>>
>>23279559
>>23279568
>Starting a "D&D alignments are complete shit" debate while still in the middle of a different one
They are Lawful Good, though. They don't recognize the Rule of Evil. A paladin isn't going to abide by the laws of a Lich Overlord simply because he has political power. Their religion says that this rule is inherently unjust, so its laws are to be disregarded.
>>
>>23279559
>think there orders are more along the lines of "Bring the bandits to x, there they shall receive judgement/redemption in the eyes of god."

>they're capturing people alive
>therefore we have to kill them

Seriously, if they were devout angel-fucker-worshippers who MURDERCLEAVESMITE, they wouldn't bother taking people alive.

All Brodin needs to do is say "Yeah, I'm here because this goes with saving a certain girl from being sacrificed to demons, also this will help bring down demon-enlightened folks in charge, because fuck them," and HEY LOOK THEIR AIMS NOW COINCIDE WITH WHAT BRODIN IS TELLING THEM.

Assuming they're celestia-aligned anyway.
>>
>>23279680
And telling them that would lead to all sorts of suspicion. They'd investigate Fort Hope closer, wonder why in hell a Reaper is doing this, and generally spend their time poking their nose into our business and making our life obnoxious, and it still doesn't deal with the problem of them going full paranoid, noticing our merry band, and it leading right to a fight but without us having an element of surprise.
>>
>>23279709
>They'd investigate Fort Hope closer
Then we shove them in and have them eaten. This isn't rocket science.
>>
Doesn't >>23279740 contradict what >>23279680 is saying.
>>
>>23279740
Still doesn't solve the paranoia problem and a fight most likely breaking out anyways right now, I agree with taking them out and sacrificing what we can to the Queens, but sending Brodin to talk won't help us with that. It'll turn a nice happy ambush where we hold all the cards into a clusterfuck that is likely to backfire on us.

On that note I'm hitting the sack.
>>
>>23279760
Have a good sleep, shame we couldn't come to an amicable solution to this problem.

>>23279759
I'm a pragmatist, if not an outright murderous one. They get one chance to walk away and leave things alone, if not, they get ate.

But they do get one chance.

Hell, I'm tempted to set up the bandits the same way;
"who amongst you would choose to turn away from this path of violence, step back and be witheld your prize your ancestors offer!" And don't eat anyone who pulls back.
>>
Let's use brodin as a distraction, he try to convince them to let him take care of the bandits by saying "it's for my job" but he enters the camp through a different side than ours so they don't scan in our direction, in the mean time Adam and CO get in position in case they refuse. If the murderhobos give us the bandits great, but have Seb track them to make sure they don't follow us to the shrine, if not then follow one of the battle plans that were proposed.
On another note, how will we prevent Erika form being sacrificed by langy? My best guess would to pull a kidnaping act along the lines of "if you don't<insert unreasonable demands here> you won't ever see your daughter again" but as it would prevent Ada from receiving help from Erika's ayarian power it's probably not the best way, if we end up doing that we ask Seb to take care of her until langy is taken care off if this guy don't want to be found you can, from my understanding at least
>>
>>23279806
One chance. Wasn't this the original compromise before people started getting bloodthirsty? I really don't understand what this whole argument was about when we just end up back where we started.
>>
>>23279911
Well, considering I'm on the "talk to them first" side, we haven't actually gotten anywhere.
>>
>>23279979
Honestly, I get the feeling that we spent our whole time arguing with one person with a couple of people occasionally chiming in on his side. Man that guy was stubborn.
>>
>>23279911
>>23279979

Wow, I wandered off and...what happened?

So...are we giving them the chance or not?
>>
>>23280184
We are, but none of that, dress Brodin up as an angel stuff I think, I think it was that original suggestion that started this in the first place.
>>
>>23280206
On another note, i just took a look at Brodin's sheet, his persuasion is basic so we better be ready for the worst.
>>
>>23280240
Situation bonus for being fed what possible dissenters are thinking by SeaBass, though.
>>
Here is how I see it. If we attack them now we'll most likely have an easy battle without much injury. If Brodin fails in his persuasion attempt it will be a lot harder and we might even have a risk of some of our friends dying.

But what we do not know yet is how likely Brodin is to succeed in his attempt. His persuasion is at basic and he does not have the suggestion like the succubi do, which is a negative factor. Him being an angel (even a Reaper) is a positive factor yet it is unknown by how much. We do not know much about the church of Illysia. Do churches usually contract adventurers to hunt bandits? Why do they want the bandits alive? And after they hand the bandits over what will happen to them? Will they put them in jail, execute them or brainwash them? Or maybe even sacrifice them (I am just throwing this one out there)? We have no idea how the adventurers would reach to Brodin.

Before we go further I would strongly suggest that we confer with our other party members about the persuasion plan and only go for it if they think the plan is likely to work. After all it is their lives that we will be putting at risk and they will likely have valuable input since they are much more experience that Brooklyn. As it is the persuasion plan is one giant unknown at the moment.
>>
>>23280772
This is probably the most reasonable suggestion throughout this entire discussion.
>>
>>23280772
Still, we should prepare for the worst, starting with targets, Brooklyn should hit the mage, Seb hits cleric, Mina hits fighter, Brodin hits paladin and Ada, is going to have to find and kill the rouge, with any luck the cleric or wiz will both be down, if not a least one.

Anyone any different ideas?
>>
>>23280842
>rouge
Rogue even, I have got to stop typing it like that.
>>
>>23280842
The rogue is going to be the most difficult to catch flatfooted. I suggest that SeaBass goes for the rogue, since he can detect him by thought and doesn't rely on a flatfooted attack for massive damage.
Ada would be better going after the Cleric, I think.
>>
Concur. We should meet with the others and give them a quick questioning on the probable danger/motivation/response to our plans.

Sebastian and Brodin probably won't care, Ada would likely strike first, and Mina would probably want to talk.
>>
>>23280904
The only problems with that is getting close, not to mention the rogue is in a building somewhere, he will be hard to hit with a bullet.
>>
>>23281227
Well, he's going to have difficulty attacking anyone while in the building, so either he lets us knock his whole party out while he watches, or he gets beaned by Sebastian as soon as he leaves the building. And Sebastian will know he's going to leave before he actually leaves, so he can't catch him off-guard.
Sounds like a non-issue, to me.
And I'm sure Ada, with her Great! stealth skill can get near enough to the Cleric while Brodin's talking at him that she can gank him if they outright refuse to cooperate. We should tell her not to wait for a signal, though. The signal for everyone else is their Cleric falling to the ground unconscious. Just tell her to drop him as soon as it is apparent that they aren't going to let us leave with the captives.
>>
>>23280772

The thing I find interesting is that people keep bashing Brodin for having a persuasion of basic when most people don't have any skill in it at all. I mean, the way things work in this system it means that Brodin actually does have some skill persuading people. It might not be the best, but it's a damned sight better then your average joe trying it.
>>
Is it possible to summon tentacles behind people with Magic-fight skill?
Could we potentially just summon like five darkness tentacles with knives for ends behind the cleric and wizard and stab them to death?
>>
>>23281490
I'm telling you, we should summon tentacles -inside- people. Can't dodge or run away from that, and it scares the shit out of anyone else who sees it. No prisoner trying to run away after he sees the guy who just kicked his buddies asses suddenly sprout a dozen tentacles from his body.
>>
>>23281571
I always thought that tentacle summoning thing was limited to the ground.
Why sage? We are far past auto-sage anyways.
>>
>>23281604
I think it's limited to shadows. So not necessarily the ground. But there's no light source inside people to make shadows.
>>
>>23281604
Habit. I usually sage when I'm making a short or unimportant reply.
>>23281622
There is no light inside the body which means that it -is- in shadow. That's what shadow is. Place with lack of light. Strictly speaking, there is light that goes up to their skin, then the shadow of that skin is in their body. Those shadows are the ones we fuck around with.
>>
>>23281622
But everyone casts a shadow.
Wait, i just read on the skill thing. We are able to jump between shadows?

>>
>>23281690
Although if they are wearing baggy clothes we could jump in between the folds of their cloth?
>>
>>23281647
Nah, it's magic. Shadow is different from darkness metaphysically or some shit. Because balance, basically.

>>23281652
We've been able to do that for ages. Dunno why we've never used it, I've suggested it a couple of times.
>>
>>23281690
Eh, I didn't think Sandact would let us do something OP like that, but if I really wanted to push it, there's no such thing as darkness that isn't a shadow. The rules of magic don't give a fuck about reality, though. That's why it's magic.
>>
>>23281737
I still think it would be pretty OP to just jump behind a person in his shadow and shoot like 10 lasers through his body. And repeat this a couple of times and you got yourself some very dead adventurers.
>>
>>23281762
>just jump behind a person in his shadow
But that's silly.

You stick your hand through the shadow then laser him to death without risking the rest of you.
>>
>>23281762
There's still a difference between "very difficult to protect yourself from" and "literally impossible to defend against".
The former is slightly permissible, and the latter is simply not.
>>
>>23281773
Why not two hands at once on two different persons?
>>
>>23281762
We're usually best at long range, if somebody did manage to dodge/counter/survive they could fuck us up royally.
But Brodin can use shadow jump like that. Suddenly there's a scythe in your back!
>>
>>23281622
>I think it's limited to shadows. So not necessarily the ground. But there's no light source inside people to make shadows.

>light power
>create magic sphere of light behind a rock, create shadow over everyone
>slap a light blindfold on everyone in quick succession

Shadow teleport probably has a decent cost to it as well as leaving us vulnerable for a bit, I'd think, though.
>>
>>23281789
Point is that with the shadow transport thing we can always be at long range
>>
>>23281773
If we fire the lasers parallel it would not be possible to discern if the lasers were shot from the front or the back.
>>
>>23281793
The sheet doesn't say anything about it's cost or any specifics, really. We'll have to ask Sandact about that.

Now, more ideas to fuck people over in an unexpected manner.
If any enemy ever jumps, we lower gravity for them by a quarter, effectively making them jump four times higher than they intended.
Then, when they are at their peak, we crank it up to four G's.
Or, if we want to just fuck over everyone's ability to move properly, we randomly and rapidly change the gravity in our range.

Or, if we want someone to get ganked from in the middle of a battle, but they aren't flatfooted, we fuck with gravity for them only, making them flatfooted while Ada's concealed and in range. Instant KO combo. Like Lock On and Fissure.

>>
>>23281945

>>
>>23281896
This is really far too much to handle in a battle. In a battle, we stick with something simple, like SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE WITH LASERS rather than "lower gravity for one person INSTANTANEOUSLY WHEN THEY JUMP and then RAISE IT UP AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE VERY HIGH".
>>
>>23281960

There is something good to be said about the simple solution to a problem. Evocation is an underrated solution to problems.

We only get in fights if we fuck up. We're supposed to backstab and manipulate, not fight.

If we're going to fight, we end it fast and brutal or we run, nothing fancy like "arty farty gravity techniques".

Leaders aren't supposed to be on the front lines risking everything, though obviously we do care about our friends. So if we're going to get things dead, we shoot them in the fucking face, and if they're immune to being shot in the fucking face, we should have been running already and working out when's the best time to stab them in the back.

Like Blizzy. C4, face-blasting, overkill.

>Why did i find THIS funny?
...

>>23282104
We used those tactics because Blizzarios was more powerful than us, outright. Also, we can't rely on being able to flee from enemies that are immune to our first combat technique. That's why we develop a varied set of combat styles and abilities. If our go-to attack doesn't work, we move on to trying something else that seems like it would.
>>
>>23282166
There's two combat scenarios;
Either we're being ambushed, in which case fleeing is the best bet and then bombardment,
Or we're either ambushing or walking into a straight up fight, which means we'll have setup time.

Either way, we should be running or have set up a plan beforehand. Trying to fuck around with fancy techniques when we don't know our opponent's not optimal, we should set clever tactics to our opponents on a case by case basis while generally pumping our skills in general.

What? There are like an almost infinite amount of different combat scenarios. We should be prepared for as many different of those as possible.

Just using one attack and one plan and not being able to adapt will spend the end of us.

If we are being ambushed by a -real- threat, then they're going to take steps to keep us from being able to run. Nobody smart enough to actually threaten us would attempt an ambush where we could simply run away. You -can't- rely on a single combat skill to carry you. I'm not saying we should use these all the time, but keeping the more unorthodox skills in practice is important to being able to be flexible and adjust to the combat situation.
