We don't know where they came from or how they came to be or even how they are capable of doing the things they do.

The Sues.

They're impossible. They can do impossible things. Anyone who ever beat a sue, became one.

It's impossible, and we're hiding in dark places under this sparkly hell.

People stopped counting how long we've all been this way, from the day that the old world fell.

From what they say, it's been generations.

Then one day, we stopped seeing sues. One day, someone said it was all over.

But living didn't get any easier.

I'd say, them sue nations have decided to play hide and seek with us. Somewhere down there, there's a mermaid sue waiting to jump ya, or some some half animal retard self-shitting sue waiting to take you to its nest, or sumthin'.
>>
I thought we discussed this before; after the initial outbreak, it was a very very short period until humanity was wiped out.

The only thing left standing were people who could survive pure author fiat; i.e. other sues. That didn't know they were Sues.

This is a rather lackluster setting premise...

How long has it been? ? Is it really that time again? It seems as if you only just arrived.

===

It took a very long while, a lot of luck, on the part of the remaining humans of Meta-Earth, before discovering 'real knowledge' could repel the sues. In that time, who would've thought to bring books with them in a matter of survival, hiding and escape? In many places with the mary sues vying for rule, the years of hiding stretched into generations. When the rest of mankind crawled out of their hiding holes, they emerged warped, with a new bizarre religion springing up around knowledge.

Thus the powers of "canon" and "real knowledge" were condemned to the rigors mindless ritual to ward away the vileness of the sues, and some took to callling upon purging the sin of sue in the hearts of men. Others were branded as those with too much "sin" and "taint" that they were subjected to be purified and be judged in some proclaimed afterlife.

The places around the world least affected by sues were prime targets for looting and raiding. In the aftermath of the Crossover War, the resistance cells, the remnants of mankind on Meta-Earth began a frenzy of pillaging and raiding the better-off places in the aftermath, the violence erupting making more libraries/schools to be destroyed, knowledge being scattered, made into an object of reverence instead of being a tool, the new garlic-and-cross of this age. The widespread occurrence of banditry, general mistrust and individualist survivalism complicated matters.

===

There's been calls ringing out for a while about the war of the sues being over and that it's time to come to the surface and rebuild. One day, you hear about a call coming from "libraries" and "universities" needing to be defended against their books from being destroyed. Over the years you've managed to scrape up the pecking ladder in the Free Town society and become a trusted scout.

Your town leaders have sent you to a newly-discovered location of a distress call, a place long avoided...

What is your name? Are you out here for treasure? Are you out here for power? Are out out here to kill the last sues?
>>
The name is Roger. First name, anyways. Last name...well, orphaned before I can remember, so they just call me Roger. I signed up to help search for knowledge so I can help protect the town, and all those kids who are lucky enough to have parents.

>>

No last name? Did they give you a Spaz name to go with it back in the day? Oh, where are my manners?

Spaz is kind of English and not-English. It's what you get when you shoehorn every other language into English then rape the result. The older generations look back at their times and now, and kinda sad really, for them. When their generation started kicking the bucket, there was some use of English, but *real* English? You won't find any any "native" English speakers left outside the Sue nations.

They say "native" English is the tongue of the sues, could call it mary sue English, after the fact where all the Spazzers of the current generation started testing language to check for sues.
>>

Well, they found me stealing from their stores, but were kind enough to just feed me. I was mesmerized by the vegetables, couldn't get enough. So they called me "Green". Since then, it's been Roger Green for anything official...pff, official, hah.

And also to Survive. Surviving is good.
>>

Surviving is very good. Especially with all those crazies and bandits out there.
>>
>>23036509

Your name is Roger Green, scout of the Free Town of the name Blue Dale, of kinship to the outpost Blue Devil....

...wherever Blue Devil outpost is, or whatever became of it. You heard horror stories of sue fights, of power that they wave like children, power to end the world several times over. You hope that, these books that survivors cared for to repel the SUEs are intact, and haven't been flash-fried in explosions mountains-wide, while sues and their nations, thralls and all, decided to fight on a whim.

You're on an old but reliable ride, a mini fighting ride called a technical. With you is a scout team, people, kids who grew up in the same town as you, all scrawny, chewing and weaned on hydroponic produce like sprouts, alfalfa and lentils, and the occassional potato.

A scouting force of six, you included, sitting shotgun with Skeety Rakrood at the wheel and Adnan Soong at the bigguns. The rest are cramped up in another vehicle, Rhuburt Philips driving the other rover behind you.

It's been that way with Spaz names, a mix of names of nations, coming together, hiding from the mary sues. Hard times led to making names this way.

You got Alexander Rex sitting in the back of the other rover, the quiet dude, but he tries to be cool with everything. Maybe he's crazy.

Each rover has a toolkit, and other weird supplies like wires and ingredients to blow stuff up with. Each three-man team has a big medkit, and each man has the occassional patch or meds as first aid. Lucky if you got some of those stims to break out in a pinch.

You and Rex have got these helmets that you pried off some dead army dude, weird stuff happens when you press a switch in there, makes you see things moving easier but kinda garbled.

All team members have a weapon, and the occassional forged pistol. Real and proper ammo takes luck to scavenge for. They did manage to somehow make reliable home-forged bullets from scraps. You? You got a pretty good form of assault rifle still well cared. Alex has a hunting rifle that you put two bullets into. Soong has this shotgun, and Skeety has this long rifle with a scope, so he can shoot really all the way across and look out for stuff. You and Philips made sure you got binoculars for each team too.

The distress call to defend a library, comes from a place you dread to go.

All the way down there in the distance, is where the sue nation lives. A city. Buildings.

And it's quiet, with the occassional crash or gunshot.

Seems you're not alone at the party.
>>
>>23036910
You look back , inside your ride.

You're not a real gun nut either, but stashed away, just in case, are two submachineguns, and you got enough ammo to go between everyone, and these too.

Looks like you'll have a gunfight anyway on your hands...

Just wanted to see if there was anything down there. Your scope can sometimes be better than the binoculars or even Lex and me's helmets. Alright boys, let's move in. But keep noise down, don't fire unless I or Lex says so. Kapeach?
>>

"Got it."

The two rovers drive up to the sue city...

Under the groaning death-sighs of a now-quieted sky, the city in question lies before them. Like a man on the deathbed watching passersby, the low rumble of winds observe those who approach a former playground of the SUE nations.

With that, Skeety hops off and sneaks around for a good half hour.

"...Woah, shit. The place is empty! Empty...everywhere."
>>

On your end, you see -nothing-. Yet, there's a faint echo of a gunshot somewhere in the city. Skeety is still fine though....

"Just more streets and rubble".

Morris, last guy in your team, who people casually call him the sherpa (You hear from others that's not the proper word for it, or that it's even a nice word to use), is an intensely veteran scout, who's gone to places and brought tales of his own that you also listened to at some point.

He somehow is familiar with the city.

"I've been here before, when they started saying that the sues started disappearing. Then there were things in the sky. Some things. Took the chance to get all the supplies I could. Was a bit too easy."

Morris guides you as you drive up further.

From a distance, anyone could say that this former city is a bombed-out piece of work, showing what's been left behind between SUE fights. The power to destroy worlds, the strength to crush anything, and the most childish minds to wield them have left a parting gift, one of too many on this ruined planet. The jumble of greys, dirt and ruin become much like a grimy ash-mixed scar of a cigarette pushed into supple skin. Roads and pavement have been rooted up from the ground, like piles of glass shards. Jagged edges reveal violent forces throwing once-orderly pavement into many pieces pointing in random directions leading into the sky. Don't make the mistake of falling into the ruined concrete, or cutting yourself against it. Any unlucky person would find themselves with one too many gashes, or find the occasional piece sticking right through them. Roads are no longer the smooth ride they once were. Asphalt laid down to make roads is but craggy shambles, and numerous craters.

Skeety reports back in. "Hey boss, ya want me to turn back now?"
>>
Rolled 55

>>23037562
Green. You see it. The city has growing things. Plants crawling up former things that men have made. Things in bloom, sometimes, The concrete sometimes breaks and gives way to sprouting moss and grass.

You look up.

An upward examination further inside the city leads you to see high-rise buildings with smashed-out windows, whole floors converted to open-air balconies from prior destruction. Other buildings miraculously have their windows intact. Growing up in the hidden settlements of mankind made you unfamiliar for a long while about the concepts of how humans from this "Old World" used to make their homes and other creations stand tall above the ground. The occasional supply raids told of hushed stories passed down by mouth about these places while they sneaked around trying to evade the myriad SUEs and their thralls, and their wild, roaming bretheren with animal forms and ones masquerading as survivors...
>>

"Sorry, you gave me no choice," I say to the dead man. "Hope you find a better place. In the meantime, your stuff can give us a better chance."

I tuck everything away, even the shoelaces. Never know when stuff will come in handy. I talk into the radio while doing so.

"Team 2, pull back, get in the buildings and use them as cover. Skeety, make sure to look for anybody with a gun to rival yours. If you see one, take them out. Otherwise, call out their positions to the others. Can anybody tell me what these guys look like?"

I proceed to run in Team 2's direction, making sure to use cover as I do.

>>

It's much better than your shivs or a butterfly knife for sure.

>>radio
It's a two-way with the earpiece and mouthpiece.

You contemplate trying to re-negotiate, or intimidate the other band of raiders.

>>can of food

Some of the food from "the old world" that's survived is a treat for the surviviors. When it comes to meat, or some other stuff in cans, your generation can't stand the stuff. In fact they call it a poison reflex, where you just up and hurl out the stuff back out the mouth again.

Meat is a real rarity on the dinner plate that most folk do without. There's not enough protein most of the time, and the food grown to substitute for real meat isn't quite satisfying to people who miss meat. You're not one of them.

From one of the old geezers who taught the trade, he once ranted something during chow time. "... hell, whole generations of kids now most of whom have never once eaten meat....kinda depressin' to look at a lot of the wiry little bastards. They're tough and stronger than they look but still there's not that much to 'em."

These raiders probably found a surviving stash of food that the sue nations overlooked. After all, sues don't need that stuff and could care less about their human thralls.

>>23038600
You do this, and sneak around to a higher spot, with Morris trailing you. Rhubert tells you the other dudes are raiders, complete with masks and vests. They only have small arms and crossbows. There's one dude with a fancy crossbow that's got arrows shooting one after the other though, like a revolver.

Sounds like a combination of both.
There's the SUEpocalypse setting that /tg/ built a while back, and then there's the Editors Setting that was the basis for Meta Quest.
Both had Earth experiencing near-total collapse due to a SUE invasion.
Some things, such as calling this Meta-Earth and references to the Crossover War, are from the Editors.
The usage of "real knowledge" and books of good literature and science is from SUEpocalyspe.

It's tense, but the two groups cool off, in spite of the other team losing another guy.

Sometimes one book isn't enough. A library is like a fortress against a SUE. But, ironically, we regular folk are the biggest danger to it. Listen, do you mind if we keep this radio on us? If we see a SUE or their slaves, we'll let you know. And if you find anything, you can let us know?
>>

"Gotta use a lot of knowledge and lore to keep sues away. There's always that one sue that's managed to stumble onto answers to weak questions, or a question that's used too often."

The boss answers the following:

>>Ask about:
>Places to stay the fuck away from - places SUEs and their pets inhabit
The sues are usually further in the city. They'd usually have fancy homes and big towers. Big open places is where they'd like to hang around in.

...that is, for human-looking SUEs. Animal sues are a crapshoot but usually easier.

>Traps placed by survivors
Watch out at entrances to subway stations and alleys between buildings. Usually they're bombs or razor wires. There's the occassional bath of chemicals though, or some spike trap or thing that shoots arrows.

Sometimes, survivors like to place traps near their usual stashes or escape routes.

>Stashes of food, parts, supplies, ammo, medicine.
He refuses to tell you.

>Places to find books and knowledge
He has no idea, only that he sees scraps of knowledge on pieces of paper scattered in the city. There's the occasional book in some of the tall buildings.
>>
>>23039764
Welp, if a trap's still set, that means there's no SUEs behind it.
