Argh! Okay, running late tonight, everyone! You can thank my ISP for that, as apparently, they couldn't find their ass with both hands. Regardless of that, I do believe it's time for Civilization Quest!

You are the Long Fangs tribe, a primitive tribe of peoples on the cusp of the Bronze Age. With the assistance of your heroes and the guidance of your gods, it falls to you to guide your people through the ages, steering them through good times and bad, towards their eventual, far-off destiny. Do you think you are up to the task? Can you (to steal a phrase) build a civilization to stand the test of time?

Now then...

>Previously on Civilizatio Quest
Xotel does not react when called out to, simply continuing his journey to the door. Trym reaches out to stop the warrior, as Xotel is about to cross the threshold. Xotel turns... And Trym is momentarily stunned in shock! In the light from the door, the Long Fangs hero now has a good look at Xotel's face. The warrior is no longer himself!

Xotel's eyes are now black, the irises a gleaming yellow. Blood stains his mouth and chin and his teeth are long and almost bestial in appearance! His cheeks are sunken and hollow, giving the appearance of a man wasted by hunger or disease. Even as Trym stands in shock at the hideously transformed man before him, the thing that was once Xotel looks down at the arm and hand Trym grabbed, the skin stretched tight over the bones so as to resemble a claw.
>'Xotel' rolled a 29
The thing that was once Xotel flings out his arm, pushing Trym away with such force that it flings the hero through the air, crashing into Gerrin and sending them both tumbling back with such force as to crack the wattle and daub wall they smash into! The creature then turns, steps out the door and leaps into the air, landing on the thatch roof of the hut opposite and crawling with lightning speed over it, leaping to the next and heading for the training grounds, terrified villagers screaming in horror and fear at its passing!
>>
>>23031679
The creature flashes along the rooftops, leaping from hut to hut as it leaps towards the training grounds! Trym and Gerrin manage to pick themselves up with a tangle of limbs and groans of pain, stumbling out of the hut. They have only a brief moment to do something...

>I believe Xotel may be acting rather strangely. Wat do?

Also try to cut off his way so he can't get at Svell as he seems to do.

>>23031875
Gerin grasps the bone spear he seems to have grown somewhat attached to and immediately charges after the rampaging creature wearing wearing Xotel's skin, his powerful legs pounding the snowy ground as he bull-rushes through the village, using his sheer size to bowl panicking villagers out of the way. Meanwhile, Trym tries to impose some kind of order upon the tribe, calling out to the devouts and to the hunters to rally and pursue the creature!
>Trym rolled a 6 on 2k1
Unfortunately, the hero's voice is lost in the chaos and he goes un-heard. As the creature moves ever closer though, several of the villagers and indeed the priests, fall to their knees and call out to the gods of salvation, as the creature begins to exude a palpable aura of 'wrongness'. As though in response, emerging from his hut, his hair deshevilled and his eyes wild, comes Derrik! The old priest carries a bow and arrows and dashes for the training grounds and the shrine of Groza. As he passes, some say they can see a spectral wolf running alongside him, supporting and giving speed to his aged body.
>>
>>23033384
We're so fucked.
>>
>>23033384
So we've got our bone wielding non-godlasying warrior going after him, followed by our actual godslayer who can't even get our villagers to chase the obvious fucking danger to the village, and coming up in the rear, the guy so old he couldn't even participate in the last war. Yea. We're fucked.
>>
>>23033384
Just as Gerrin and Derrik reach the training grounds, the creature makes a flying leap off the last roof, clearing half the open ground as it makes for the shrine! The three devouts sent to guard Svel emerge and blanch at the sight of their twisted companion! Seizing its chance, the creature lunges, one of its taloned hands punching through the first devout's chest, lifting him up, off the ground as its other claw grips the crown of gurgling warrior's head, twists, pulls and wrenches the head away with a cracking of bone and a sickening, wet tear of flesh! Horrified, one of the other devouts lunges for the creature that was Xotel, driving his spear into its chest... But the creature just looks down and the skin of its cheeks splits as it grins a hideously stretched, sadistic smile!

Groza and Derrik have mere moments to act before the creature finishes off the other two devouts! Wat do?
>>
>>23033403
Nope. Derrik.
>>
>>23033455
Launch Ya'Jal at the creature with a throwing spear toss while shouting out to Groza.

"Groza, lend me your strength! Let me fight this creature!"

Derrik should just try to shoot as many arrows as possible and get the spirit wolf to attack it.
>>
>>23033491
Ageed, I guess. But I want Trym there ASAP as well.

Fuck the villagers if they don't listen to him.
>>
>>23033491
Should we kill it? Is Xotel still in there somewhere or is it just the monster now?
>>
>>23033455
Have Derrik fire off some arrows to draw the demons attention from the two warriors while Gerin closes the ground and brings his (hopefully not any longer) worthless spear to the attack.

For shits and giggles, can we get svell to try and talk to Demon Xotel? I mean, Svell is a god aaaand they were friends before this whole deal, maybe Svell can reach whatever is left of Xotel and get him to rage against the possession of his body, eh?
>>
>>23033491
This
>>
Derrik and Gerin exchange a brief look and a terse nod and as Derrik fits an arrow to the string of his bow, Gerrin steps forward, hefting Ya'jal, the spear of bone and hurling it with all his might! "Groza, lend me your strength! I fight this creature in your name!" Amazingly, the spear flies with surprising accuracy, despite its light weight, aimed straight and true at the creature! With un-natural speed however, the creature turns, his talon smashing the spear from the air and sending it spinning into the snow as it hisses evilly. The opening gives the devouts a chance to rally, one hacking at the creature with his knife, while the other attempts to cleave its hide with his axe. Meanwhile, Derrik starts firing with unerring accuracy, but the arrows barely seem to bite upon a hide now rapidly darkening and roughening, like the skin of a boar!

The creature turns, swiping at one of the devouts and disembowelling the axeman in one fell sweep of its hand, even as the knifeman leaps on its back, his arms around the beast's neck, stabbing in a frenzy, even as his knife breaks against its hide. With the devout hanging there, Derrik can no longer loose, as the creature smashes open the front to the shrine to reveal Svel, still kneeling and staring up at the creature in fear. "No... Not you. Not here... Please... No-!"

Even as the god protests however, the creature reaches down and grips Svel around the neck, lifting him close to its twisted face, now starting to be crowned by three pairs of horns that push from its forehead and back across its head. It breaths a foul, black miasma and Svel screams, forces to inhale the black mist...

There is time for maybe one action. It does not seem mortal weapons will bite upon this creature. What do you do?
>>
>>23034480
Shoot Svell with an arrow. make sure it's through the head. Because he is a god this will banish him to the spirit world for a year and a day, and deny the boar thing its prize. I doubt what it is doing will be temporary, so shooting Svell is the only way to save him.
>>
>>23034539
Reluctant second...
>>
>>23034539
I really don't like this, but we don't have time for anything else.
>>
>>23034539
Remembering the defeat of Hrunti, we cannot truly kill a god, only banish them for a year and a day. Fuck it, banish svell.

Khione is going to be fucking furious. Not to mention the demon which is going to be infinitely more of an immediate problem after this.

>>
>>23034539

I'm seconding both of these, if possible.
We could have Derrik kill Svell and have Trym/Gerin name the beast at the same time.

Alternatively, if only one is allowed, then kill Svell first. We'll name next time, if anyone is alive by then.

>>23034813
Or The Seed

Guys, guys. Have the guy on its back jam the knife hilt in its eye. I mean, terribly powerful and all, an eye is still an eye and, hell, have the guy just use his fingers if he discarded the knife.
>>
>>23034987
I'm changing my vote to this. If it's possible, we name him while stabbing the fucker in the eye.

With our odds, Derrik probably won't make the shot anyway.

>>23034944
You're a fun guy.
>>
>>23035134
That's what I'm saying though. You have the devout on his back, then the demon, then svell.

I might have read it wrong, but it seems unlikely that derrik has any chance at a clear shot at svells head.
>>
>>23035134
I like this idea.

>>
>>23034944
What Ska said, Seed. You're a fun guy.
That is why I am going to kill you last.

>>23034987
The devout clinging to the beast's back raises his knife and brings it down once more in desperation, skewering the creature's eye in a spray of red gore! With a howl of rage, the beast's mouth opens un-naturally wide and bites down, sheering through flesh and bone, biting the devout's forearm in half and causing him to pitch off the creature's back, screaming in pain and clutching the spurting stump. The distraction provides all that the heroes need however!

Gerrin charges forward, bellowing the name of his god as he slams his shoulder into the creature, smashing it to the ground through dint of his sheer size! His hand scrabbles for a weapon as they roll on the ground... And closes around a good-sized stone. The priest of battle brings the stone up and smashes it down heavily onto the creature's head, stunning it for a moment! Gerrin raises the rock again and again brings it down, this time causing the creature to roar in rage, kicking the priest off. As Gerrin and the creature scramble to their feet, the beast reaches behind it and pulls at something... Plucking Ya'jal from its hide, where the force of Gerrin's blow had driven the normally useless weapon into its hide. For a moment, there is a pause... Then the ground shakes slightly and the thunder rolls... Gerrin grins, eager to fight on as the eyes of Groza settle upon him and his foe. "You killed a defenceless child on this ground," he spits, "Groza demands retribution, filth!"
>>
Rolled 5

>>23035816
DONT FORGET WE'RE NAMING THAT FUCKER
>>
>>23035816
The creature looks at Gerrin, the priest's muscles bulging and the rock in his hand dripping slightly with blood from the creature's skin and Gerrin's scraped palm. It looks down at the prone form of Svel, the god's chest unmoving, no breath left in him... The creature snarls, turns... And flees! Faster than any man can follow, it flees to the village walls and scrambles up, over them like a spider, even as Derrik's arrows harry it, though they fail to do much as it leaps from the walls and flees out into the forest! Derrik curses and spits. "Pah! Were I just a few winters younger, I'd track that thing to the ends of the earth! Argh, but I'm weary... And I've already tracked it too far today."

Derrik is exhuasted, two devouts are dead, another taken by the beast and a fourth brutally wounded. The shrine of Groza is damaged and Svel, the god of ice, lies, to all examination... Dead. What will you do?

If there are no actions taken, the turn will end here.

Gerin carries the injured devout and Svell to the river, laying them inside the shrine to Chani and begging her for aid, but despite offering his own blood, she does not answer. The gods, it seems, will not answer those who serve another, unless under strange and dire circumstances. The devout's wound is staunched the best the wise men can and when she arrives two days later, Rina ensures that the wound heals cleanly into a stump, though she cannot restore the man's mangled fighting hand, forcing him to leave the devouts.

Svell meanwhile, is beyond even Rina's arts. She can find no signs of life in the body whatsoever and though Khoine's priest assures the tribe that Svell should vanish as though melting ice, the body remains, un-touched and un-changing.

Action Points: THREE

A) Send out scouts (specify direction)
B) Send some hunters out to hunt game and catch fish
C) Gather resources (not food)
D) Gather wild food in the forest
E) Have your wise ones try to solve a problem
F) Hold a cultural event (specify)
G) Craft specific objects
H) Send envoys to another tribe
I) Other
J) Ask the elders for advice (No cost)
>>
>>23037266
Options from last thread before the event.

B) Hunting with Trym and the Wolf Priestess
E) Masonry research, start figuring how how to cut all this stone we have lying around and have been doing nothing with.
F) In the dead of winter we bring together the clan heads in order to discuss our current situation and our plans for the future. The priests will be here as well and everyone is invited. The war taught us we must become more organized and have a better power base. This will be the first steps towards discovering what our tribe must become to survive. If we must have a chieftain. Use the speeches from thread 58 to try and gain support.

Also as a speaking action:

Go ask Gerin what Groza though of the expedition, and if he would help point them in the right direction to holy ground.
>>
>>23037306
sceonding.

It is clearly time for to make our society stronger. However, I now know that simply going out and killing people is a bad idea. We have to work our way up to that.

I) Hold the devouts up as something to be idolized. Something to be inspired by. Make everyone believe that you should live your life trying to become stronger.
B) Hunting with Trym and the Wolf Priestess
F) In the dead of winter we bring together the clan heads in order to discuss our current situation and our plans for the future. The priests will be here as well and everyone is invited. G) Build a pentegram around the village for protection from the demon.

One thing I am going to add. Try to get Khoine here to see what she wants to do with the body. Offer to give it a proper send off with a cremation if she so choose. Otherwise do what ever she wants with it.
>>
>>23037306

This!
>>
>>23037811

Wait, better idea, if it doesn't cost an action I say we throw it into the snow. Bury it in the frost for the last month of the year.

>>23037898
This! Do this, for the love of all that is holy!

Actually, you might want to preserve the body. From what I gathered the demon just took his soul and you might be able to revive him after killing the demon.

One last thing. A talking action.

Ask Derrik what the fuck happened, he seems to know at least something. I want him to tell us if he would, out of courtesy.
