Why, Hello there, /tg/.

Are you ready for another rousing adventure in the life of Wayne "Rooster" Rogers?

Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest

Last time on Digimon Quest, We had learned that Digimon change shape and become stronger periodically, and the issue of Zoe being in our bed was brought up.

We learned more about that sneaky points system, and Salamon showed off. Just a little bit.

Now, the next course of action is up to you!

"Salamon, Frimon." I begin, and they look up from where they're stuffing themselves with those sandwiches. "This Digivolution...can you tell me anything else about it?" Salamon looks thoughtful, while Frimon just stares at me blankly. Either I'm not getting anything out of him myself, or he doesn't know anything. Salamon does reply, however.

"It's when a Digimon changes from one form to a stronger one." She says, sounding rather sure of herself.

"By stronger, you mean..." I think back to what she did outside. There's no way that was normal.

"Yes, like that." She nods. "I couldn't have done that as I was before. And there are probably things I can't do now that I will be able to when I get stronger!" She sounds hopeful, and anxious, like she's looking forward to this, to getting "Stronger".

That she even needs to be stronger worries me. What sort of situation or life would require something like Sala to have powers like she does? Is it a natural thing, or was she given powers like these? That she was sent here for me, and has power like these, are both very unnerving ideas.

Zoe sees my unease, and places one of her slender hands on my shoulder. I'm not sure if it helps, but the sentiment is appreciated.

>update several times, searching for 'Gale'.
>Digimon Quest has arrived

Fuck yes, time for Digimon fun!

[X] Smile down at Salamon, and nod at her
-[X] Say "I'm looking forward to seeing it as well."
-[X] Check the page to see if anything related to evolution has suddenly appeared - who knows, we might have gotten lucky!

Because if there's one thing we need to do, it's be encouraging here.
Especially since Salamon is looking forward to this.
>>
Hm, will Salamon be the current permanent shape, or will she risk going back to what she was before?
>>
Hm, maybe we can ask Zoe to talk to Frimon?
They might need some time alone, get some bonding done.
...Could maybe also help with evolution for Frimon, as well?
>>
Digimon Quest?
Digimon Quest.

I'm thinking Frimon wouldn't know anything about evolution, since he's never really gone through anything like that, unlike Salamon here.
>>
>>22936197
>Following Digimon's "rules," if you get your asses kicked hard enough, she'll revert.
>all the more reason to win all the fights, huh?
>>
>>22936341
Hey, not bad!
So, does this mean we can permanently get her to Witchmon as well, when we get there?
Because that'd be really helpful.
>>
I think we might have come upon a decent idea? Talk to our digimon, while our friend Zoe talks to hers?
Maybe we can even go out of the room for a bit, give them time to bond while we do the same with Salamon?
>>
>>22936374
>So it seems. I'll get on it, then.

>>22936354
>I'm not going to make any promises on that. You'll just have to see for yourselves.
>>
>>22936341
Well, here's to hoping the /tg/ dice gods won't screw us over too badly, then.

>>22936469
Fair enough - i'm sorry if i'm asking too many 'system related' questions, here.
>>
>>22936521
>Not at all. It's only natural to want to know how the game you're playing works.
>It's not a bad thing to be curious.
>I'm trying to give you enough information on things as they crop up, but without people asking, I sometimes overlook things.
>>
Should we give our digimon a name that isn't the same as her form? you know so we have something to call her no matter what level she is.
>>
>>22937155
>I like this idea. Anyone else in favor? If so, then I can work it into this post before I finish it.
>>
>>22937188
Yes please.
How about "Lilianne" or something like that?
>>
>>22937245
Either that or Sally.
>>
Hey, Gale, when you post the next update...can we get a pic of the evolution path we've picked for our digimon?

Also agreeing with the idea of getting a unique name for Salamon - it shows more care, and I'm all in favor of that.
>>
>>22937277
I'd be ok with this name, too.
I put up Lilianne as an option because it also kind of references LadyDevimon in a way, and seems a fitting name for Witchmon too.
Give us a good name for several stages of her evolution.
>>
>>22937277
I like Sally. See if she likes it too.
>>
>>22937452
Asking seems like a good idea, but sure, i'm fine with that.
>>
>>22937546
>Asking it is, then.
>Won't be much longer now.
>>
>>22935988

Ask Sala why she wants to get stronger. It seems like she's very powerful already?

Then ask if there are any other digimon in the human world?
>>
>>22937277

Seconded for "Sally". Saves Gale writing out a ton of stuff everytime.

Sally, Sala, Sal, ohgoddeviltits, whatever works for the scene.
>>
"I...guess I'm looking forward to seeing what happens, too." This only bolsters the little puppy's enthusiasm, and she starts nodding emphatically, her ears flopping back and forth.

I stand, getting up from the side of the bed, and gesture to Salamon to follow me as I make to leave the room.

"W-wait-" Zoe protests, reaching out to grab my sleeve. "Where are you going?"

I do my best to make my smile as reassuring as possible.

"Don't worry. I'll be just outside if you need me. In the meantime..." I send a look at the frilled fuzzball sitting - is it sitting? I don't know- nearby. "Why not get to know him a little better? He seems friendly enough." A lie, or at least from my point of view. The little bugger's only been polite or amicable when Zoe's involved. She takes my words to heart, it seems, and nods more to herself than me.

"Yes. Maybe that would be nice." She mutters, and I take that as my cue to give the two a little time. Closing the door quietly, I then look to little Salamon, who's still beaming up at me.

I swear, the way she smiles can be kind of unnerving.

"So," I begin, trying to think of a way to begin this conversation. "...I have to ask; Salamon: is it your name, or what you're called? Because both you and that other one have 'Mon' at the end of your names. I'm just not quite sure how that works."

(cont'd)
>>
First of all, I just wanted to say this great, keep it up Gale.

Second, I cast my vote for Sally.

She blinks, and then seems to think to herself.

"No, it...it's something like 'what I am.' I'm a Salamon, so I'm called a Salamon."

I can't shake off the overall weirdness of that statement. Salamon is her species name? Not HER name? Would that be like calling Zoe or me "human" instead of our names? When I ask her, she makes the universal "kinda-sorta" motion.

"It's a little like that, but humans have a different way of naming things, I think. You're all different looking, so calling eachother different things makes sense." Her expression is beginning to look as though she's even confusing herself. I get the feeling she's not even fully informed on the situation, either, so I try to change the subject.

"Do you," I stop, and take a moment to regather my thoughts. "Do you...want a name? It doesn't have to be anything complex or difficult, just...something to make you different."

Once I finish, I look back down at her, and once again, I'm struck by just how ADORABLE this little thing is.

"R-really? You'd do that? You'd name me?!" She half asks, half yells.

"I'll take that as a 'yes.'" I joke, finding her enthusiasm and cheer infectious. When I try to think of a name, however, it just seems silly to call her anything except-

"Sally?"

She begins to bounce up and down on her little legs, babbling almost incoherently. Another "yes," I suppose.

"Sally it is."

What now?

>>
Depending on how paranoid our MC is, we should check to see if the good old doc is lurking around.
>>
>>22938024
[X] She's too adorable - bend down, and pick her up.
-[X] Then go to the computer, and see if anything new has come up - we might have gotten lucky!
I vote against checking on the doctor - that's just tempting the /tg/ dice gods, and i'm not sure what we'd want to know there.

Also, let's give Zoe and Frimon some more time alone - it's important that they get to know each other so Frimon can evolve and our group get stronger

>>
>>22938024

Peer out the window to see if you see the doc. Make sure he's... y'know. Not dead or mugged or something.

After that, chat to Sally in the other room, give Zoe and Frimon more time. It seems like she doesn't know a huge ammount of her world, but you can explain stuff about your world if she wants to know.

>>

Feel free to make our Digivolution... semirandom.

Have some decisions alter these factors, but don't tell us what they are.
>>
>>22938170
We already did decide on the main stuff, to be fair.

>>22938152
I think we checked it out in another room?

>>
>>22938132
Hm...
We probably should at least check up on him - but I don't like the idea of just dragging him into our house if he's not in danger. That seems kind of counterproductive, given that, well, we've been trying to hide this from him up to now.
>>
>>22938210
what is the canon path? are is it a secret? (wasn't here for the set up sessions)
>>
>>22938122
I'm the one who asked for that - thank you very much.
>>
>>22938242
The canon path is basically the whole little lineup there - I think Lilithmon will, for instance, be easier to get than Ofanimon.
And Witchmon will be easier to get than Blackgatomon, and so on.
>>
>>22938229

Hmmm. Should we start brainstorming a lie?

Or shall we cross that bridge when we get to it?
>>
>>22938295
Well, we should be relatively safe from him calling in anyone else.
I mean, what's he going to say? That a puppy spoke to him, and he passed out?

>>22938152
>The computer IS in your room, but the "Check on computer" and "check on Zoe" options are two different things.

>>22938242

>The Canon line itself goes from Witchmon to Lady Devimon to Lilithmon.

>So far, we seem to leaning toward checking on the Doctor?
>>
>>22938341
So if we check the computer, we wouldn't interrupt Zoe and Frimon, then...?
Because that's what got me a little worried.
>>
>>22938341
Think so.
With an addition of picking up Sally, because carrying her is the best.

>>22938295
We won't know what the situation really looks like, for the lie we'd need to tell.
So I don't think we can reliably set up any work for that until we'd know.
>>
>>22938498

I bend down and wrap my arms around the still joyful Sally, lifting her up as I walk. She looks up at me from her new vantage point, and asks where we're going now.

"Well, see...that Doctor's been kind of weighing on my mind for a while now. He was in the way, yeah, but I shouldn't have just left him there." After thinking for a second, I add "Good job, by the way. I wasn't sure how we were going to get past him." She swells with pride, and the rest of the short trip to the door is quiet.

Once we're downstairs, I decide taking a look outside would be smarter than just heading out with no idea of the situation.

The doc's still lying out there, unconscious. Sally did a serious number on him, I guess.

Puttiing her down and asking her to stay inside while I deal with the problem, I cautiously tiptoe out the door, edging closer and closer to the downed physician.

Upon closer inspection, it turns out he's only sleeping; no nasty bruises or welts from hitting his head on the ground, thankfully.

He begins to stir, however, and I think fast.

His eyes open slowly, and he looks around with a bleary look that wouldn't be out of place for someone who was just knocked out by a small dog.

"ugh....what happened?"

When his gaze lands on me, I don't see any sign of recognition. Whatever Sally did to him, he doesn't remember much of it.

>>
Well that's a relief - he didn't get seriously hurt, then.
Just sleeping.

I think we can do this - someone who just woke up generally needs some time to think things through.

So how about...
[X] "Yeah, I'm not entirely sure, myself - you just ended up passed out in front of my door.
I'm glad you're not hurt, or anything, by the way."

Not technically lying - I don't think we fully understand how digimon powers work, only that they do.

Plus, well, being friendly generally helps, doesn't it?
>>
Sally is hiding or something, right?
We don't want him to suddenly remember much of this.
>>
>>22938897
This works. Offer to get him some water or Tylenol or something then send him on his way.
>>
>>22939191
if he starts demanding answers from before play dumb and make him think it's all just a dream.
>>
>>22939191
Sure, giving him a glass of water is a decent enough thing - plus, it gives him that to focus on instead of anything else, which is nice.
>>

>>
"I'm not so sure. You were just passed out in front of my house. Are you alright?" I ask, feigning ignorance. Well, not entirely. I myself have no idea how Sally's powers work, and he WAS just passed out in front of my house. So I guess it's not a lie.

The doc gets to his feet, still a bit shaky, and I reach out to steady him. He gives me a wan smile in thanks, before rubbing his head and muttering about how he isn't "old enough to be falling asleep in strange places yet."

I offer him a glass of water or an asprin, but he merely shakes his head and waves me off.

"I'll be fine when I get back home. Just need to rest somewhere soft, for a change." I'm not sure if that was a joke or not, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth here. He clambers back into his car, which I notice was parked just a short way away, and drives off. Thankfully, he's regained enough of his motor skills to drive safely, it appears.

Heading back inside, I shut the door, and lean against the wood, sighing in relief. What could have been a major crisis has been averted, for the time being, and we have one less worry.

I send another grin sally's way, and pat her on the head thankfully.

So...what now?
>>
>>22939727
Does Sally have any questions?
>>
>>22939727

[X] "So, you've got any questions, Sally?"
-[X] After check try and see if you can't make some snacks, because we could probably use something to eat as well - and Sally will doubtlessly puppy dog eye us into giving her some more food as well.
-[X] After that, carry her again, and then head to check computer.
>>
>>22939971
I vote we get the whole day off.
Because, well, we kind of need it, I think.
Both to talk to Sally, but also to calm down and relax after everything that's happened in the last, what, hour or two?
>>
>>22940142
>>22939997
>>22939820
>So we're going with talking to Sally some more, and then checking on...Zoe? The Computer?
>>
>>22939727
Make some food and head back to the room, and then investigate the computer.
>>
>>22940198
Sally, then computer, and then we'll see.
>>
>>22940198
From what I'm seeing it's question time with Sally, then make some snack, and finish off by investigating the computer.

We could probably do the Q&A while making snack too.
>>
>>22940432
Yeah, talking to Sally and snacks before we check up the computer seems to be what we've decided on.
>>
>>22940432
>>22940821

>Alright, then.
I pick Sally back up, before heading into the kitchen. I'm hungry, and I never got to eat any of the sandwiches I made earlier.

while I'm carrying her, I notice Sally staring at me out of the corner of my eye.

"I've asked you a lot of questions, Sally," I begin, and she nods, probably thinking about how well she answered some of them. "So it's only fair you get to ask me some as well."

I set her down on top of the kitchen counter, and while I'm looking for what I need to prepare a small snack, she starts to bombard me with questions.

"Okay, then how old are you?"

"I'm sixteen. Almost Seventeen, though."

"Cool! Where are we, exactly?"

"Well, there's my house, and we're in a little town called Threshold."

She makes an "ooooh" sound, and then goes back to her questions.

"So who's Zoe? She seems nice, but why is she in your house if her house was totally fine? And it's bigger than yours!"

"She's here because she's sick, remember? And we go back a long way. I took care of her like this before, and we've been friends ever since."

"Yeah, but why is she in your bed?"

"...because it was the gentlemanly thing to do?" I wasn't giving one of my close friends the couch, not when she's sick. Hell no. This seems to satisfy Sally for the moment, though why she's this aggressive when it comes to my friend, I have no clue. "Any other questions?"

"...I don't think so, but if I do have any, I'll ask them!" That's fair enough, so I agree, and, upon finishing the snack (a sandwich of my own and a small side of potato chips) I head back upstairs, Sally bouncing along behind me, humming a little tune.

Perhaps I ought to look at that file again. It seems like it's meant to be some sort of...communications, between myself and somebody or thing else, so maybe they have something new to say.

I hope they do, anyway.
>>
>>22940988

I knock on the door, and Zoe invites me back in almost immediately.

Inside, Zoe's still in bed, while Frimon is now at the foot of the bed, his huge eyes following me as I walk over to my laptop, opening it and powering it back up.

The file is still open, and the text is there, but now, there's an addition.

{Thou hast made most excellent progress, ye who art Chosen! Indeed, perhaps soon thy gate shall be ready for the journey!}

{Prepare theyself, Chosen, and thy companions. The day draws near.}

Oh god, what now.

>>
>>22941022
[X] "Gate? What gate?"
-[X] Turn around towards Zoe, pause for a moment, and then say "I think we're going into something very big."

This can clearly change, so experimenting to see if whoever is doing this is willing to share some more ideas would be nice.

Ask the Digi's about the text file, and about the "journey" or "Gate".
>>
>Sorry this took a while, and it's not even that long. I'm multitasking at the moment.

I'm struck by a thought, and I place my hands on the keyboard.

This thing, this file, it's been typing to me in real time, like some crazy google docs prank.

It stands to reason I should be able to type back.

"Gate?" I type, deliberately and with purpose. "What gate?"

For a few seconds, nothing happens. I almost resign myself to the fact that it's only a one-way connection, until the cursor moves down a line, and begins to type again.

{The Gate shall reveal istelf when the time is right.}

Despite any other questions I ask, however, there is no response after that reply.

Giving up on the laptop for the moment, I turn to Sally. She's been a pretty reliable source of information so far, despite not knowing everything, so maybe she'd know what exactly this is.

However, she just shakes her head.

"All I know is that it's supposed to help you," She says, looking as confused as I feel. "But I don't see how this is helping."

With a sigh, I turn away from the laptop.

Zoe's looking at me oddly, and Frimon is alternating between looking at Zoe and staring at me.

I should...

[X] Explain what we've found out so far
-[X] Then ask what she's learned from Frimon.
-[X] After THAT, remember to call your parents.

Sharing info is good.
And doing that first, also means we'd be in a better position to ask how their discussion worked out.

I think we can do all of this, so eh, might as well try.
>>
So hey, looks like asking at least shows there is someone capable of responding to us!
That's good news.
Just need to find a way to make them more, you know, willing to talk to us.

Hm, as for what to do - I kind of think we might want to strategize, see if Frimon has any special tricks he can pull to help Sally out (because if this is a group, well, clearly she's going to be the main badass of it - and I trust her more than I do Frimon).

So I think asking Zoe how the conversation went with Frimon sounds like a good idea.

This is a good point - get some stuff so we can cook food, and medicine for Zoe, and toilet paper, we definitely need toilet paper.
'Gate' generally means an opening to somewhere else, so we probably want to be prepared.

>>22943292
Ah, ok, fair enough. So, can't really talk about strategy then. Still, talking about ways we can handle situations together seems like a good idea.

I gather my thoughts and begin to explain what's been happening to Zoe. She's been so patient with us- with ME. She at least deserves to know everything I know, and I tell her as much.

I explain about the file, and tell her about what it's been saying, and how I can apparently make contact with it. And when I mention the "Gate," she cuts me off.

"Gate? Do you mean...you'll be going somewhere?" And that stops me right there.

I hadn't thought of that.

And that makes me feel stupid.

All these references to a Gate, and I hadn't thought that the gate must GO somewhere.

And that if it goes somewhere, and it's waiting for me...

"...I'm going to need to pack." Zoe looked taken aback.

"Pack? You're actually going to go?" I nod, still thinking.

"I'm going to need food, and a tent, maybe. They have small tents that fold up smaller, I think..."

I'm so caught up in the planning of an expedition I know nothing about, I don't notice that Zoe's gotten out of bed until I feel her hand on my shoulder to support herself. Instinctively, I hold her steady, noting that she's still breathing deeply. "I'm..." She says between breaths, "I'm going too."
>>
>>22944384
"Out of the question." I can't allow that. She asked me to take care of her, not take her to god knows where. "You're sick! I can't endanger you like that!" She just gives me one of the most determined looks I've ever seen her use.

"If I have my medicine, I can... handle myself well enough. And...you'll be there." She coughs again.

"I-" I can't seem to find the right words. Sally, who I had almost forgotten was here, chooses this moment to pipe up.

"If you're worried about the Digital World being dangerous, then you shouldn't! That's what we're here for!" Frimon nods his agreement, looking as serious as ever.

I was torn. WAS that what they were for, the Digimon?

Was there some danger we'd have to face, that they would have to be a shield against?

I dimly note in the back of my mind that my parents should be coming home soon, and that I never did call them to tell them about Zoe, or Sally.

And then I hear the sound of gravel crunching in the driveway.

[] WAT DO?
>>
>>22944397
[X]...Aw crap. Quietly panic for a moment.
-[X] Hurry up to the door, to meet the parents, and tell them about Zoe being ill, and her parents not being there - no mention of what happened to the doctor, though.
-[X] Probably best not to go too much into detail about Sally, though.
>>
>>22944397
Forehead meet palm. "Oh crap my parents are home and I haven't told them about you or anything yet." Rush to meet them.
>>
She would be a terrible liability any moment Zoe doesn't have access to medicine, we should tell her as much.
Keep cool, tell the monsters to hide themselves and act as plushies anytime they're discovered.
>>
>>22944397
[X] Zoe come downstairs and call your house. Try to explain that you're going to go camping for a while. Tell them it will be for longer than a week, and ask for as much medicine as they will allow you.
-[X] Greet the folks outside, and run interference while she does this.
[X] Once the inevitably force their way inside we need to tell them what's up. As calmly as possible.

We need to have the two digimon stay with Zoe while we delay/prepare the parents, and if they're all together it will be easier to explain things.
>>
>>22944567
Prepare the parents? I doubt any sort of preparations will work for 'your child is going on a magic adventure with evolving monsters and a sick girl for who knows how long. My vote is keeping a tight lid on the whole digimon deal.
>>
>>22944606

"We're going on a journey to find ourselves. The current lifestyle we both share have led us to question our place in the world, and to that end we must see more of the world. We shall need provision." Basically we bullshit about things and hope for the best.
>>
>>22944546
I've got a feeling whoever is talking about the gate thing won't really be giving Zoe much of a choice in the whole matter.
So we might as well prepare to journey together because, well, 4 people is better than 2 (one of whom would be sick).

Although loading up on medicine and such is definitely vital.
Hey, you know what we should try and get with us, if we can?
A bike.
Those really speed up travel time.

>>22944606
Yeah, I'm pretty sure no matter what we tried, we wouldn't be able to calm them down.
>>
>>22944606
We should still tell our parents something rather than just disappearing on them. They'll probably find out about the Digi-Adventure sooner or later, so we may as well get it out of the way now.
>>
In all honesty, they'll probably think we're crazy if we tell them the truth, so I say we spin a reason on why we need to leave for a week.

Or if they're the kind of parents that are most mons anime, they'll probably too clueless to notice.
>>
we could tell them that after doing everything to convince her not to go that we decided to go with her on her camping trip to make sure nothing happens to her. we do after all have a history of taking care of her.
>>
>>22945037
Could work...
But would the school be ok with it?
We don't even know WHEN the gate will be opening, so we can't exactly give them a solid date.
>>
I don't know how exactly we would convince the school without our parents help, but we can get around not knowing the date by just saying she hasn't decided when she's going. if were convincing enough we can get them to call the school right before we leave and say there taking us out for x amount of time.
>>
>>22945150
That...might actually work.
Huh.

Well, if we can get our parents to agree with us, it seems like a decent enough idea.
But we need to tell Zoe that this is the plan if we do, so she doesn't screw anything up.

But we still shouldn't try and tell our parents about any digimon or anything.
>>
>all these reactions and plans about the parents
>you can't even imagine my face right now.
>this grin I have, it is insane.
>if you'd like, I can give you more time to work out a plan.
>>
>>22945464
A grinning DM is never a good thing...
To be fair, though, my ideas were mostly about getting a bike so we can move around better.
>>
>>22945464
What option would be winning now, if you started writing?
Because it seems going to talk to them before they come inside seems to be the option we're going with here.
>>
>>22945524

True, but what we're going to say to them is unclear.
>>
>>22945464

I play with a pathfinder DM who loves it when someone screws up and grants one of the monsters flanking or when we are all together for a nice AoE spell.

So its not too hard to imagine that grin.
>>
How about we go outside and say that we want to take Zoe camping? We could tell them that we want her to feel like she's not dead weight to people, and that she can do things on her own.
>>
I dont think were going to come up with anything significantly different with the information we have, might as well just post
>>
>>22945834
Kind of agreeing, here; I don't think we can make a very decent plan until we get more info.
I do like the idea of the whole camping thing, so if an options opens up for that, it seems like the best way to go.
>>
>>22946041
>Ah well. Here I was hoping to finish Lagann hen.

>so, we're going with bluff the parent out with a camping trip we don't know the date for?
>>
>>22946212
I believe so, yes - if nothing else, we're planning on going out and talking to them outside, before they get inside.
>>
firstly what is our parents like are they chill ok with almost anything you do, are they strict expecting you to go to school every day no exeption?

we need to know what they are like to act accordingly.
>>
>>22946637
>You'll know soon. I'll make two posts. You'll see what they're like first, then you can roll for bluff.
>>
That sound. At least one of my parents is home. I have to think fast to get this all under control.

Turning to Zoe, I motion for her to hide Frimon. Sally gets the hint and folows, ducking under the bed, while I wrack my brain for a story to tell.

I've already mentioned camping gear to Zoe, so that might do, and it'd give us a legitimate excuse to be away from the house for anywhere from five days to a week, or maybe more, without arousing suspicion.

I pitch the idea to Zoe, and she agrees readily, since I was, basically, caving to her demands to allow her to go with me.

Now all I had to do was convince whoever was out there that this was NOT a stupid idea (it was) and that we would be perfectly fine (there was no promise of that at all, aside from Sally and Frimon's reassurances) and that the school was okay with it (they most certainly would not be).

As I dash dowstairs and outside, I'm greeted by the sight of my father's car in the drive, and the man himself climbing out of the old and battered vehicle.

My dad -Paul Rogers- is dressed like he usually is: what would normally be considered typical work clothes, but extremely untidy, untucked, and overall messy. He's got ink on his coat again, which is really an everyday occurence, and his hair isn't even making an attempt to stay in what most people would consider a "normal" hairstyle. His glasses are the only part about him that isn't spattered with paint, ink, or tone, actually.

But then, a graphic artist has to see to do his work properly.

He's got a briefcase full of his latest works in one hand, and I can tell he's going to want me to go over his latest novel as soon as he gets inside. That'd normally be a good time to get him to approve the trip, but as things are, I can't allow him inside in the first place.
>>
>>22946759

He sees me on the porch, and his face lights up.

"Wayne! Kiddo, hey! So, I just got a new serialization, and I wanted to go over some of these ideas with you..."

He's so wrapped up in his "work" (I say "work" because there's no way anyone could have a job they enjoy that much and still call it labor) he doesn't notice I'm out of school at least an hour early.

>Roll for bluff! Let's go with 1d20 for the bluff itself, but I'll accept rolls for other actions this time.

Some time in the outdoors, the REAL outdoors would do some good for our friend, I think. That should also be factored into whatever we say.

So how are we going to try and convince Zoe's parents to let her go camping?
>>
"Hey, Dad," I begin, and already, I'm panicking. But I don't let it show. "I've been talking with Zoe." His attention caught, he now focused on what I was saying.

"Zoe? What's new with that poor girl? She getting any better?" The worry was evident in his voice; just as well, too: Zoe was treated like one of the family whenever she came around, though it was never for very long. My parents, in her owns' absence, took a great interest in her health. Which played out in my favor.

"That's the thing, actually. She's been getting worse again." I'm still telling the truth at this point, which only helps to sell the bluff. The look on my dad's face when he hears this almost makes me break down and tell him the truth, but I keep going.

"So we were thinking; why not go camping? The fresh air would do her some good, and we think getting away from everything would be a nice change of pace."

I can see him thinking about it, before he asks the question I was dreading.

"Well, who would be going with you, and when would you be going? Hell, for how long?"

I think fast. Very fast.

"We'd be going alone, actually. Like I said, she wants to get away from the city, and she really only needs one person to watch out for her. As for when, we're not too sure, but we're thinking it'd only be a week or so."

He frowns, and for a second, I think he's seen through my lie. But slowly, a smile spreads across his face. Oh, oh no. He's not going to-
>>
>>22947806

"You kids wouldn't just be making excuses so you can spend a week together ALONE, would you?"

I sigh, and my face meets my palm, before I realize that this is exactly what I needed. Rather than see through my lie, he's just made it bigger. Slowly, I nod. His grin grows to an absurd degree, and he elbow me in the side.

"Kid, you only had to say so. You two are still young! you have to go out and do some of fun stupid things we did when we were your age!" He thinks for a moment. "Except the drugs. Don't do those. They're not so fun."

I nod shakily, and he slings an arm around my shoulder.

"So, where is Zoe, exactly?"

I try to look innocent as he asks, but when my gaze flicks up to my bedroom window, he follows my line of sight and sees Zoe looking down at us.

"I always knew you'd get a girl into your room eventually, kid. It was just a matter of time."

God, my family embarrasses me.

[] What now?

>>22947700
>Zoe's parents
>Refer to the first thread; they're always away on long trips.
>>
>>22947824
[X] Ask him if we can go shopping for supplies, and if he know where to get more of Zoe's medicine.
[X] Along the way the subject of notifying the school should also be brought up.

Ideally we should go immediately, so as to give Zoe enough time to go to her house and pick up whatever she needs.
>>
We're going to need some sort of battery pack for the laptop. Getting some ready to eat meals should also be on the list of things we need to do before we're taken by the gate.
>>
>archiving the thread now, since my time runs short. If we can get the thread to keep until tomorrow, then I'll try my best to run again.
>Until then, let's see how far we can get.
>>
>>22948297
>Huh. Well. seeing as my time is actually cut a little shorter than I thought, it seems this won't be possible.

>I'll run tomorrow, hopefully, but in the meantime, don't forget to vote the threads up!
>Thank you all for such an enjoyable session once more. Without you, based anon, I'd just be a guy asking myself what to do.
