Using angrydorf's layout because i'm lazy. Rules are pretty simple, just vote for one of the options, the one that gets the most votes wins, voting ends whenever the OP starts typing up the post.

Dwarf: Forced to start in a mountainous region. Starts with iron tools tech, iron metallurgy tech, smithing tech, and brewing tech. Major penalty to magic, penalty to population, penalty to diplomacy.

Elves: Starts with great knowledge of two types of magic, starts with wooden bows, major bonus to magic, bonus to diplomacy. Major penalty to armaments, major penalty to population.

Lizardmen: Need to live near a water source. Nonconventional breeding triple current population each year, bonus to armaments. Cannot use life/healing magic, penalty to tech, penalty to diplomacy, carnivorous, bonus to poison and death magic, strong resistance to diseases and poisons.

Humans: Bonus to diplomacy, bonus to population, bonus to armaments, penalty to tech, penalty to magic.

Goblins: Major bonus to population, bonus to armaments, starts with wooden spears and wooden bows. Cannot research tech/gains tech by raiding other civilizations, cannot use magic, carnivorous, major penalty to populations.

Orcs: Bonus to population, major bonus to armaments. Penalty to tech, major penalty to magic, penalty to diplomacy, carnivorous.

Gnome: Major bonus to tech, bonus to magic. Penalty to population, major penalty to armaments, penalty to diplomacy.

Your Choice: Suggest an original race, the GM will state the penalties/bonuses for that race.

(Keep in mind you can change the affects of the races by adding a locational prefix, I.E Forest Goblins, Mountain Elves.)

Goblins.

AWWW YEAH!

Goblins are creatures of adaption, they can and do live nearly anywhere in the world, they are one of the few species that can endure the hot and dry deserts, or the disease-ridden swamps. Far in the north, where very little life exists, live the goblin tribe of Vaal. This tribe many hundreds of years ago were driven out of their mountainous homeland by an alliance of dwarves and humans. The Vaal Goblins, over the generations changed, their physical and spiritual anatomy mutated. These arctic goblins are now omnivores, as it was nearly impossible to live in the harsh winterlands without being able to eat both plant and meat. For some reason they can now use ice magic, perhaps the gods pitied them, or perhaps took an interest in them. Nonetheless, the Vaal Goblins live in an extremely hostile environment, their new home is a frozen wasteland, the white plains only broken up by the occasional mountain, wood in this environment is scarce, but occasional small forests do grow here. The goblins have made stone pickaxes to build their homes in the mountains, as it is impossible to live outside in the cold. During blizzards it is a death sentence to go outside. They have elected a new leader, chief Grogut, with this new leader they plan to flourish in this wasteland, and hopefully go on the warpath back to their mountainous homeland and take it back by force.

In this wintery landscape it's difficult to find food, so what might the Vaal Goblins be eating? They have been hunting small game like ice krugs (small foxes with huge mouths, can easily swallow up goblins whole) and pine fruits (thin hard black fruits that grow on the trees in this landscape.) But with all the recent hunting the krugs have began to migrate farther north, so the goblins will need a new source of food. The goblins begin to scout the land around them, they don't really find anything until the 9th day. They find a small forest, in the middle there is a small lake, they start experimenting with the frozen lake, they take their pickaxes and cut a jagged openning into the lake. Underneath they find a strange huge fish, the fish are about as big as the goblins and they have huge maws with jagged sharp teeth, the goblins are afraid to try to kill them, they reckon that the Maw Fishes could easily tear through goblin flesh. They decide to make the journey back, making sure to mark the forest by stacking a few stones. Another scoutting party reports seeing a strange large white-furred creature walking about. It walks on four legs and has huge clawed paws, it seems to have one large head and a black nose. It has one large eyes on it's head and a large mouth. Grogut thinks that it might be a distant cousin of the bear, a fearsome and respected creature that lived in the mountains of their homeland. The Vaal Goblins need to strategize on how to take down the mawed fish, or if they're feeling dangerous, on how to take down the white bears. One of the elders in the clan warns the chief not to attack the white bears, that they are strong creatures not to be hunted.

While the goblins aren't stupid, it took them many years to develop the stone pickaxe, thankfully spears were rather easy to make, since they are essentially pointy sticks. The smarter goblins modified the spears, they used large branches and wittled them down to create better, straighter, more refined spears. These fanged-spears have four inwardly pointing bits, they are part of the stick itself and theoretically will make it impossible for the maw fishes to escape if they are impaled. The goblins return to the lake and test it out for the first time. The cold wintery air bites at the goblins' flesh, tension fills the air as they wonder if all the work they did would make a difference. They circled around the main hole and peered into the water, the deep blue color made it hard to see anything, but their most skilled hunters were able to see the fishes well enough. One of the hunters thrusted his fanged-spear into the water, "I got something!" he shouted, the others were excited, some of them held onto the hunter and help him pull the fish out. It took a few minutes but eventually they got the maw fish, it was much larger than they had anticipated, and despite being stabbed it was still flopping around wildly and making weird gasping noises. One of the goblins took out a sharp rock and cut the fishes head off, they began to examine the body, the teeth were large and sharp, perfect for stabbing. Unfortunately the meat was bitter, but it was extremely filling. A small camp was created at the lake, just some small shelters to allow the hunters to sleep at the lake for a day or so. Hunters will now fish at the lake, they will remove the teeth and add it to our stockpile.
BONUS
The goblins have created a new type of spear, the 'stabby-stick', it is a thick straight stick that has a maw fish tooth at the end, the tooth is kept on the end of the stick with some stringy bits found from the trees in the forest.

The goblins want to tame the white bears, thinking that perhaps they will be able to help them travel around the wasteland, and if they cannot be tamed their furs will help the goblins retain heat and keep their homes nice and warm. They try to dig a large pit, thinking that if they can lead the bear into the hole they can trap it. They dig a large hole with their hands (not very efficient) and put some maw-fish meat inside, they then hide behind a nearby mound of snow. After an hour one of the large white bears approach the hole, it looks inside, trying to figure out a way into the hole. It seems genuinely distressed, it would be caught off guard if the goblins attacked, by now that the creature is in full view it is much scarier than it originally looked. The goblins don't attack, knowing that if they did they at least a few of them would be killed. The white bear simply leave, knowing that it can't reach the meat without falling into the hole. Next time the goblins make a small slope that leads into the hole, once the white bear is in the hole the goblins will destroy the slope, making it impossible for the bear to escape. They create the new hole, place some meat inside and wait. This time the white bear comes back, it walks down the slope and starts eating the meat. The goblins rush out and collapse the snowy slope. The bear quickly realizes what is happening and begins roaring. Just when the goblins thought they had caught the white bear, the fearsome creature literally climbs up the hole but jumpings and digging it's claws into the snow, in fear the goblins flee. The white bear walks free now, but on the bright side nobody got hurt.
>>
[D]
The goblins think that their hardships has divine origin, the life here is tough and dangerous because the god of hunting wishes the goblins to become strong, this is almost like training. Even the gods wish for the goblins to return to their homeland, morale is raised. The chief plans to hold a ritual on the last day of every month, they will create a circle of blood using their prey's blood. The goblins chant and prey to the deity of the hunt, the chief standing in the middle of the circle. No response, but the goblins seem to enjoy preying, they feel more invigorated, more aware.

Some of the children have come of age recently, with these young men at our disposal our productivity will slightly increase. Thankfully due to the cold it's easy to keep food fresh, we now have a good stockpile of food, consisting mainly of maw-fish.

The goblins try to channel the magical energies of the world into their bodies and exert it as ice magic. They find it very difficult, their will must be unbreakable, and their minds focused. They find it easier to use ice magic out in the cold. The goblins have learned to channel their magical energy to create ice bolts, which are essentially spikes of ice that are launched at the desired target.

[D]
A small detachment of goblins are sent to explore the south. They have to take breaks inside of small caves and under large rocks to rest, travelling in the cold is tiring. Just as they are about to turn back they discover a huge mountain about thirteen miles south. They explore the mountain to find... A tower. A stone tower made of bricks, it seems to be attached to the mountain itself, it pierces the clouds in the sky, but it's hard to see due to the snow that covers it. It's top cannot be seen, it looks almost like there's a blizzard in the sky around it. The goblins don't know what to do, so they tunnel into the side of the mountain and create a small chamber to rest, they send one goblin back to the chief and ask for guidance.

EVENT
One of the smarter goblins, while exploring the maw-fish forest discovered a new plant, a white flower that is rare and only grows in the forest, the goblin found that the nectar in the flowers center has some interesting properties. It seems to disinfect wounds and can even speed up the healing process. The one who discovered this has become the medicine man of the village, his name is Vograut. Vograut smashes these flowers up and creates what he calls 'medicine paste' which he mixes into food for the clan, even if the user isn't injured, simply consuming the paste makes them feel healthy and invigorated.

The goblins took sticks larger than their spears and whittled them until they became nice and around at the edges, then they would attach three mawfish teeth at the end of the stick. This weapon works much like a javelin, the three prongs, while they don't damage the enemy much, will maximize the possibility for infection and pain. They name this weapon the throwy-stick.

[D]
A detachment of fourty armed goblins is sent to the tower, they explore aroun the tower, they find a large wooden door with strange marking made out of some sort of yellow shiny material. They try to enter the tower, but the door is locked. The goblins bash it down, the inside is lit up with white sticks attached to the walls, the sticks on on fire and slowly melting. There is a spiral staircase, but that's it, the first floor is pretty barren. So is the second floor, and the third, the goblins end up doing quite a bit of walking before they find something. On the twenty-first floor in the middle of the room is a humanoid figure made up of ten large round boulders. The goblins examine the statue, but it suddenly begins to move, not only that, it attacks! The ferocious creature clobbers several goblins, causing terrible injuries to their torsos. The goblins escape without anyone dying, the creature didn't follow them.

Some more children have come of age and are ready to work and fight for the clan.

[A]
The dark cold dwellings that the goblins currently lived in would just not do, with their recent advancments they were left to wonder why they would allow themselves to suffer in such terrible homes. The goblins went to work making their dwellings more accomodating, they used their pickaxes and made their hallways and rooms square, they carved out chairs, beds, and tables from the walls, they then insolated the inside by placing leaves on the floor, it wasn't excellent but it made living more comfortable. Good thing that goblins can see in the dark.

One of the stronger goblins takes a group of fourteen warriors and heads out to defeat a white bear, the chief was not told of this. They return with a slew of bear meat, bones and teeth, and most importantly it's gloriously furry pelt. The chief both congrajulates the warrior and scolds him for not reporting his plans to the rest of the tribe. The warrior seems to want the pelt for himself, but some others feel that the chief deserves it more because he is what holds together the clan.

+1 Culture Point.
1. He who sows the seeds deserves the harvest.
2. He who is in high position deserves the harvest.

The pelt should benefit as many as possible. Let the hunter who felled the beast take the first portion, the chief the second, and the rest can be given to the scouts and hunters so they may brave the snow and cold winds.

And let me take the head of the bear to the place where it was killed, to leave it there as an offering to the Hunt God.

>>
HE WHO SOWS THE SEEDS IS THE FARMER

>>
[B]
The bear pelt is crafted into armor, bear pelts are quite thick, and because goblins are so small the pelt can be used to cloth many of the goblins, with this new clothing the warriors/hunters will be better at weathering the blistering cold of the outside world. The rest of the pelt is divided among the chief and the hunter, the head is left at the site of the battle as an offering to the god of hunting. The hunter is now pleased.

Hunters report that a large blizzard is coming from the east, it will arrive in a few days.

The goblins hunt as much as possible, stockpiling up a huge amount of food.

[A]
Using strips of bear fur the goblins make the once cold and hard stone beds more comfortable and warm by laying the strips on top. Besides that the goblins lay down more leaves and gather more wood to create fires at the entrance (so the smoke isn't trapped in the caves.)

The blizzard hits harder than the goblins anticipated, most of the goblins relax at the very big and wide entrance of the cave, warming up with fires, some of the goblins move rocks to the entrance to create a sort of makeshift wall that keeps the cold out of the cave. During this time the goblins converse, improving their language and intelligence, they talk about many things, the wise men of the tribe share their knowledge. The goblins haven't been able to do something like this in years. For some reason the magically gifted goblins strip themselves of clothes and leave the cave, the chief tries to stop them but they simply tell him that nothing is wrong, that they hear the cold singing the white song. They leave.
