Sup anon. Let's have some tanks, yeah?

Just like ghost, I'm always in the IRC.

It's been about an hour since world war three spread to the middle east. Sitting in General Garrison's office, you find yourself flanked by both Major Thomas, the clean cut Royal Marine Commando, and Commandant Du-Cheil, an equally hard looking man from the French Foreign Legion. A battery operated radio in the back of the room squawked what you all knew so far as the four of you huddled around a tourist map of Saudi Arabia.

So far, Iraqi Air Force units have been attempting to pummel King Fahd international airport, where most of the NATO's airborne elements were stationed. Iraqi ground had made a two pronged attack, one towards Ar'ar in the north, and Khafji along the Persian gulf as the other target. So far, they had made incredible headway towards both cities. Worse yet, now the Syrians were making noise about sticking in with the Iraqis.

You rub the stubble on your chin. As of right now, there were no battle plans to get in the fight in either city, and the four of you were just making arrows on the map of the Iraqi pushes towards the Saudi lines. On one hand, there were a lot more Saudi units than there were Iraqi units. On the other, all the Iraqis were republican guard, veterans of the eight year long war of attrition between Iraq and Iran, and the Saudis were all green.

Even so, NATO seemed to have all the confidence in the small, small contingent they had in place. No new troops were on their way, or so Garrison had said. Given the size of the war in Europe, you've got more than enough reason to believe him. The Russians were making slow, but steady advances across Germany, although at high cost. Even so, every inch of land given up would have to be retaken, a very ugly and bloody prospect for anyone.

“Alright Gentlemen, lets hear some battle plans. I know all of you are itching to get stuck in, but we've got to have some priorities. The King is making all sorts of noise about foreign invaders and has given us full strategic and tactical leeway, so the gloves are off.” General Garrison says, looking up at the three of you.

Major Thomas is the first to reply. “General, it's mandatory we bog them down at Khafji, or at the very latest, Jubail. KFIA is too important strategically, and Abdul Aziz seaport is second to Jeddah's for import-export. If we give either of those up, we're letting the Iraqis hamstring us supply wise.”

To your right, Du-Cheil shakes his head. “Major Thomas raises good points, General, but we need to take pressure off the center of the line first. I think we all know that the Saudis can't hold Ar'ar by themselves, and if the line breaks there than the Iraqi push can continue almost all the way to Medina unopposed. That's all almost open desert, sir. Very hard for the infantry to fight in.”

General Garrison pours himself a fresh cup of coffee, taking a sip before crossing his arms. He turns his head to look at you, eyes boring into yours.

NATO navies can retake the seaport, and we can retake the airport.
But if we let the Iraqi's push into Medina, they'll be among civilians and it'll be difficult to push them out.

"we need to counterattack, not defend"

As we've seen firsthand with the Saudis, if their chain of command is broken, the troops panic and go to pieces.
Therefore, if we hit their battalion and company command units in headhunter strikes, their troops on the ground will be paralyzed - granted, as Rep. Guard vets not as bad as regulars, but enough for the Saudi troops to hold the line and breathing room to organize a counterattack.

So yeah. We're specops. Let's operate operationally.

Air superiority is pretty much our only advantage here.

At least this is an opportunity to show those royals how shitty their "elite" guards are.

I agree. I think that's how we should approach the attack on Khafji. If we can decapitate that attack fast enough, it may give us time to defend Ar'ar as well.

So, here's a map of Khafji, from the actual battle that had taken place.

It looks like the perfect opportunity to encircle the Iraqi army if we can pull off a successful decap strike, since they'll have one flank trapped against the coast. Then it's just a matter of hoping the Saudis can capitalize and roll them up.

You study the map closely, noting where major Saudi, Kuwaiti, and Iraqi cities lay. The two Iraqi pushes threaten to both decapitate and choke Saudi Arabia if they're successful, and right now the General is asking you to choose which is more important to stop.

“We gotta hold Khafji, sir. It's too vital, supply wise. Plus that's where our air is flying out of. We lose air, we're in deep shit. Plus we can use the JP4 at the base to extend our range.”

General Garrison nods, finishing his coffee. How he plowed through it that fast, you'll never know. Must be a colonel and up trick, Carpenter could do the same thing.

“Alright, fine. We're moving in-” he checks his watch, snorting. “God damn Iraqis couldn't even be assed to start a war at a decent time of day. We're moving in sixty mikes. I want supply projections and force readiness reports on my desk in ten.”

Following you three out the door, the general stops and looks at his aide. “Pete, I want those Iraqi force reports on my desk yesterday. Dig through Janes books if you have to, just give me an idea of what we're up against. Especially witch wise.”

Back at your own billet, everyone seems to have fallen into a fervor. Your infantry is checking, double checking, then re-checking their gear, making sure everything is taped down for silence, everything reflective is marred. Tankers are making sure their rucks have everything they may even remotely need before securing them to the racks on the outside of their turrets.

Your witches, especially Seigel and Ooishi, have been running over their personal weapons and strikers. Rockfield is helping Rosalez refit her ma deuce back onto her striker, holding it in place while Rosalez pins it. Patterson, however, is reading. Her striker unit is sitting ready in it's gantry, her fifty millimeter cannon resting in it's own upright.

“Calm before the storm, sir.” Anderson says, stepping beside you. “Everyone's ready to go, for the most part. Just going through what we've all got, making sure it's good to go. I gotta say, your tankers are pretty squared away. Nobody even went for the Nintendo until they had their personals and whatnot all ready to go.”

You chuckle to yourself. “Well, at least I managed to pull that off.”

Anderson nods. “Yep. My boys are all squared away. They're helping out their tankers now. You're gonna have a handful with Meaney, sir. Especially with that gunner of yours.”

You turn to square up with Anderson. “What makes a handful, coach?”

He chuckles. “You kidding, sir? You just put a nineteen year old tank gunner and known mischief maker with a twenty two year old special forces weapon sergeant and known mischief maker. Plus Meaney played linebacker for Louisiana State. You two are gonna have some uh...interesting conversations.”

“Well, at least there's that. I thought we were gonna have problems.”

Anderson shakes his head. “No sir. Everything's just peachy keen on that front. Everyone gets a long. Even Seigel is getting along well with the witches. Integration is going well.”

“Good, good. Look, Garrison wants force readiness and supply projections on his desk like, now. Any chance you can handle that for me?” You ask, looking at your vehicles. “I wanna run over the company, make sure everything's golden.”

Anderson nods. “Sure thing, sir.”

Running over your vehicles as quickly as you can, you notice that everything is so far in the green. Now you've just got to figure out what to do with yourself until the warning order is given.

The turbine engine makes it a stealth tank though. The Iraqi's couldn't hear our tanks coming until we were right on top of them.

Compare that to the M2/M3 Bradley's diesel, which is so fuckloud it hurts your ears when driving by the 40 foot tower you're sitting in.
>>
>>22923696
The turbine has its benefits, particularly for our special forces role. It is quiet, can run on almost anything flammable, and is incredibly reliable.

The fuel consumption is fucking nuts though.
>>
>>22924023
And the ground won't shake when you have a tank company with turbines driving by?
Not that being silent wasn't a good idea, but 60 tons of thundering steel aren't exactly where I would start and try to be stealthy.
>>
>>22924119
In tank vs tank, if one side has diesels they aren't hearing jack shit if the other side has turbines.

Add in that we own the night, and you get why the only M1s we lost in the Gulf War were to friendly fire.
>>
>>22924119

No they are so quiet because they are all out of gas.

For real though the difference is we always hear them first, which is a Big Deal in smaller unit engagements.
>>
>>22924154
Fighting outdated tanks sure helps a lot, too.

>>22924225
I'm not a tanker myself, but can't you, like, make a diesel somewhat silent?
It sure works in cars.
>>
>>22924266
More restrictive muffled exhausts kill yer mpgs and your horsepowers. Big high compression diesels have to be making a lot of noise to be moving enough air and burning enough fuel to actually create a reasonable amount of power.

Its a trade off but a turbine will generally make a lot less noise than a diesel of the same power output. The turbine will also put out a seriously hot exhaust plume which can be a problem for friendly infantry and for the tank if the enemy has thermals.

To summarize: The armor only stops small arms(5.56/7.62), so .50 cal and 14.5 can shred them. 20mm isn't effective against even T-72 grade armor. And TOW missiles only work if you have the element of surprise, since you have to be stationary and hold aim on your target from shot to impact.

When you get shot at by tanks in a vehicle like that, you have done something terribly wrong.

So you would ambush a patrol with two or three TOWs and shoot what's not a tank to shits with the 20mm, then run before they find out where you are.

You decide that it'd be a good idea to check on your assigned Saudis. Unfortunately, they're not in the compound. Their barracks and motor pool is just on the other side of the wall, though from what you can hear they're gearing up as well.

Hustling up the stairs to the roof of your building, you're able to see over the wall. Tahira, the Princess-Lieutenant, is checking over her strikers while her senior NCOs go over their vehicles. Their officers, however, are nowhere to be found.

Down below on the street, the Royal Marines Commando are all doing just about the same. In fact, the air in the entire compound is alight with tension and electricity. Everyone knows they're going into battle, but nobody knows what they're going to be facing. The Iraqis have done a deceptively good job of hiding their military prowess, whether it be that of a housecat or Sun Tzu's own spirit made manifest. Worrisome, then, is the fact that your tiny company, or group, or whatever you've been organized into officially, has to go and blunt a full on assault on Saudi ground.

Mega, your loader, shows up behind you.

Michael shakes his head. He's always been the ominous sort, very well suited to keeping secrets and seemingly well fitted for his new special forces life.

“Haven't seen a damn one. Maybe they're in briefings? Don't speak much, 'cause there isn't much valuable that doesn't get said between you and Nicky. Words wasted is time wasted, sir.”

Your turn to shake your head. “Nah, no way they're being briefed. They'd have their CO there with them.” You say as you point to the PL, who is now running over their gear. A tiny spark of pride wells in your chest, knowing that you're the one that taught her to do such things.

You're not allowed outside of the gates without proper escort, they say. You pull the rank card, something you absolutely hate doing, but even that doesn't work.

You close your distance with the policeman who's adamant on keeping you in the compound. His mustache twitches as you lean in and say “I believe, mister saudiman, that you leave me no choice.” before backing away.

A corner of your green beret pokes out of your pocket, reminding you of your recent promotions and job changes. On the other side of the compound, you can hear the whine, followed by the roar of the turbine engines on the four Abrams tanks.

>[] other (use booze hound as a ladder)

Struck by a bolt of ingenuity, you run back to your billet and jump into the Booze Hound. You pull your headset on and thumb your push to talk.

“Hans! Sneak us up to the wall, line us up parallel. I got some business I need to handle.”

“Jawohl! These plans are always good, Captain.”

Standing in your still open hatch, you make sure to make eye contact with your sergeant Norton in his tank, Mister Fister.

“Sarn't, I need you to keep everyone here until it's time to roll out. I got something I gotta handle. Anyone gets rowdy, get Rockfield to crack the whip.”

Standing his own turret, he locates the Booze Hound and shoots you thumbs up.

The Abrams lurches, Hans guiding it out of it's berthing. What seems like an eternity later, it slides up next to the compound's wall, leaving a few inches of slack.

“Nicky, swing the turret just to our left and raise the barrel. I'm gonna climb this sombitch.”

He gives you a dumbfounded look, then shrugs and complies. The barrel makes for a decent incline, and you scurry up to the wall. As luck would have it, you're just on the other side of the Saudi's barracks. Fatima Tahira looks up at you as soon as you peak over the wall.

“Oh look. An American army captain doing something crazy. What a surprise.”

we're insulting her officers
>>
>>22927040
That might have been your intention, but it came across as nothing more than an insult and a disparagement of her military, especially in the context of what we've called them, said to her, and the public chewing outs in front of her men that we've given in the past 3 weeks.
This wasn't banter between two militaries that have a healthy respect for each other, like it was between us and the British Commandos.
It was us, who have loudly and publicly declared for weeks our disdain and scorn for the Saudi military, insulting the Saudi's for being incompetent and perpetually late disgraces to their uniform, which is what we've been telling her every time we talked with her during this training assignment.
>>
>>22927064
Its already pretty clear by thus point that we don't have a high opinion of her forces. We've been trying to train them for weeks now.
>>
>>22927105
>Its already pretty clear by thus point that we don't have a high opinion of her forces.
Yes, which means that it's not witty banter between militaries that respect each other.
It's an insult hurled by a military that believes itself far and away superior to the other, regardless of how justified it is.
>>
>>22927105
Exactly.

So just how would she know that this is banter now instead of another insult?
>>

You look around and shrug.

“Saudi Police wouldn't let me past the gate. They've been doing a really good job of keeping us locked in here when we're not training. Look, I just wanted to say that, uh, I know we've had our differences as commanders and as soldiers, but I also know that neither of us want to see mama Arabia fall to some shit-stain baathist with a crappy mustache. The royal house guards ready to go? Everyone's on our freq, your RTO's ready to call in some hate?”

Tahira, surprised, locks eyes with you.

“I have to be honest, captain. I fully expected to be yelled at again. As far as I know, we're all ready to go. After everything, mister Bishop, I believe that I can say in full confidence that the first royal house guards are honored to be screening your left flank. Somehow you've instilled a lot of pride in my enlisted. I...I guess I should thank you.”

Shouting policemen cut off any response you could've thought up. Three or four of them are pointing at you, shouting at you in their native tongue and running to where you're leaning on the wall. you look at the PL, who looks at the policemen, who are looking at you.

“Aw shit. Guess I should get down, huh?” you ask Tahira.

“Probably a good idea. Non-muslims shouldn't be out of the compound. I can't talk them down, either.”

“Uh, Right. See you on the other side, royal house guards.”

“Indeed. See you on the field of battle, Captain.”

You slide back down the barrel, and settle into your tank. The shouting on the other side of the wall maintains, though pulling your headset back on helps to mute the sound.

“Airport, sir?” Anderson asks on the tac-net.

“Once more into the breech, dear friends, once more;
or close the wall up with our English dead.”

You reply, quoting one of your favorite Shakespearean speeches.

“In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage:
Then lend the eye to a terrible aspect;”

Anderson surprises you with his response.

“Thought you were the only one who knew Shakespeare, eh sir? Didn't think a special forces southern boy could quote him?”

“Aw hell, you got me there, LT. How long is this flight gonna be?” You ask as the gate rolls open for your vehicles. Up front, Ooishi and Siegel, filling out your recon role, peel out towards the airport. They're to arrive a full ten to fifteen minutes before you, and have the aircraft prepped for your loading.

The loading, flight, unloading, and most of the drive to Khafji are completely uneventful, though tense.
Anderson's voice breaks over the tac-net. “Sun's gonna start comin' up here soon, sir. We're hearing small arms and explosions here. Looks like we've got about ten kilometers to go. Once we hit the city, my boys are gonna dismount and movement to contact through. Recommend you hold a stable firing position until we call in the cavalry. “Get some, El-tee. We're gonna settle down in the first place where we can get four guns forward. You need help, big brother's right around the corner.”

Anderson chuckles. “Roger that. Watch your fires into the buildings, we're gonna worm around in 'em.”

“Solid.”

Your convoy rumbles into the city center of Khafji before slowing to a halt in an obscured square. Palm trees adorn the corners and center of the square, their bases covered by dense shrubbery. Two of the lanes are blocked by rubble, and Saudi army forces are slowly bringing up your rear. Pockmarks in buildings as well as glass lining the roads reminds you a lot of fighting in Europe, though either the frequency of the shooting there was much higher, or the accuracy of the Iraqi gunners is much lower than you would've thought.

Anderson and his ODA dismount from your vehicles, leaving just your four vehicles and your five witches. All of their weapons are at the ready, though none of them are shouldered. All of your vehicles have their safeties off and weapons loaded, looking down the avenue. It's safe to say that anything coming down that lane would have a very, very bad day if it weren't friendly.

“Sir. Siegel and Ooishi want off the leash. They say if we let 'em go, they can find the command elements and we can put 'em on ice. My only reservation is if they get caught far enough out, we might not be able to get to 'em in time.” Rockfield breaks over your command net.

“Let 'em go hunting. Weapons free in self defense. They find it and paint it up for us, we'll kick in their door and kill 'em.”

“Roger that sir.”

From behind your scopes, you see Rockfield tap Seigel on the shoulder and draw her hand across her neck in the classic throat-cutting motion. Seigel, in turn, sharply slaps Ooishi's rear-upper thigh. They both swing out wide, Rosalez taking their position and covering it with her .50 cal. You immediately feel your face go red.

“Jesus, what the fuck do those special forces girls DO?” you ask nobody in particular.

“I dunno sir, but if I could get into that course I would die happy. I can guarantee that.” Nicky replies.

A fusillade of small arms fire erupts to your two oclock, before Anderson breaks over the radio.

“Hey sir, guess what we jus- squirter, right! Meaney, put it on him! Don't let that little faggot get away! Guess what we just found?”

“Do I really need to guess?” you reply, quickly switching over to your inner-vehicle network. “Hans, get us there, now. I don't care who or what you run over.”

“Not if you're an educated man, sir. I count three T-72's, I think. They're ugly, though, some knock off, license built variants I think. Never seen 'em with white light spotlights on the front, though. Mind coming to kill the shit out of them?”

“We're on the way. Sit tight, quarterback, blocker's on the way.”

Booze Hound crashes through a building before coming onto a main road, where a few blocks down you're able to see an exchange of gunfire between an unseen force on the street and a force in a building. A hidden cannon roars, tearing chunks of the brick and plaster out of the top corner of the building housing the second group of shooters.

> []“Anderson, I need to know if you're in this three story at my three.” (this has the lead by one at time of writing.)

“Hans, roll us real slow up there. Nick, pie off the corner. I think that's Anderson and his boys in that three story, but I gotta make sure first.” Your thumb finds purchase on your radio, where you flip to the tac-freq. “Anderson! You in this three story to my three oclock? I don't wanna put a HE right on your head.”

“Yeah, that's us sir. There's five, say again FIVE of those bastards down there now. We're gonna see if an AT-4 can crack one of those fuckers. Advise you roll down the alley on your eight, come up on their three. They're all looking at us, and I can't see an IR lens anywhere on them.”

Before you can even reply, a flare of white followed by a lance of light screams from the building and into an unseen enemy. The explosion is audible from even inside your tank, and is followed by rippling secondaries. In return, four cannons bellow and turn the building into a faceless slab of concrete in it's lot.

“God damn, crack those fuckers, sir! We just barely got out of that shit!”

“Hans, roll us down this alley here. Nicky, ninety degrees right, it's gonna be a running shot, so keep your eyes peeled. Norton! I need you right behind me! Rockfield, get up here and put some hate down with that SAW of yours!”

Your orders are coming fast and hard now, hearing that your boys were in trouble. Killing a penetrator is easy. Killing multiple penetrators is one of the hardest things in the world, and you plan on letting whoever's around that corner know just that.

Rockfield, more maneuverable and faster than the seemingly lumbering Mister Fister, slinks up next to the wall just on the other side of the corner. She looks back and gives you a thumbs up before whipping around the corner and letting of a long, loud burst of her saw.
>>
>>22928877

Screaming down the alley at almost top speed, you quickly come upon a perpendicular alley. Just on the other side, you can see that Anderson knew his shit, and knew it well. The T-72's were that in body, though apparently not in spirit. You could pick out major machining flaws as well as the spotlight he was talking about, though they're still tanks. And they're still mounting the 125mm gun native to the build.

“Give it to 'em, Tricky.”

Booze Hound, not to be outdone, roars it's own hatred at the Iraqi tanks. Your penetrator slams through dead center of the turret armor of the first tank, sending a gout of flame out of the opposite side. The flame peters for just one moment before the entire turret becomes a massive fireball, separating from the hull and sailing away, as though carried by the wind.

“WHOA! Holy shit!” Nicky shouts, his eyes pressed to his scopes. “I've never fucking even HEARD of that shit happening!”

Not wasting any time, you order Hans to roll you forward. The alley turns sharply to the left up ahead, leading to somewhere you're sure is also in enemy hands.

From behind you, Mister Fister's cannon shouts it's personal challenge at the enemy. You're not able to see the results, but a massive explosion and fireball over the rooftops you're just behind tell you all you need to know.

“Jesus christ, sir! It's like we're shooting their ammo directly!” Sargent Norton says over the radio.

[] “Yeah, something's up. These ain't 72's. Press forward, see what we can gain out of this.”

If they're using Soviet equipment, they're probably also using the Soviet tactic of "send in the expendable shit first".

Well, in real life, Iraqi T-72s really were that shitty, but nobody realized the true depth of how much they sucked until they actually went up against decent MBTs.

But, since this is Witchverse, we can never be too careful about what the Iraqis may be packing.

Well, if you wanted to destabilize the Earthlings so they'd soften themselves up for invasion in '89, there are some things you'd do. You'd get the Americans and Russians slugging it out, obviously, but you'd also give a certain psychotic baathist with a shitty mustache high grade weapons and encourage him to go a-conquerin', so that the Middle East gets just as destabilized as Europe and Asia.

We need to keep Seigel & Ooishi apprised of our location. Just in case.

>[] “Fuckin' back it up. These things are going up like paper. They've got a trump card we ain't seein' here.”

“Norton, Rockfield, back it up to the square! Anderson, we'll crack one more, then hit the last one with another AT-4. Get back to me at the square and we'll reign in Ooishi and Seigel, talk about a plan of attack! Something ain't sittin' well with me, here.”

Norton's tank immediately starts reversing slowly down the alley, leaving the pair of Iraqi tanks dumbfounded as to where their assassins were. The two remaining tanks begin to press forward toward the building in order to confirm their kills, but alas. They were going to have a bad day.

The second AT rocket from your infantry streaks down and slams into the lower glacis plate of the leading enemy tank. You can only imagine the hell that the crew on the inside is going through, having molten copper shot into the cabin at high pressure. You watch the top hatch open and two Iraqis spill out, ablaze. The remaining Iraqi tank, having watched it's four brothers die horrible deaths, begins to reverse down the street...right into Nicky's waiting gun.

His shot is low and left, plowing through the engine compartment of the T-72 knockoff, completely disabling it before setting it's exterior on fire. Not wanting to stick around in a confined space, you straighten the turret and have Hans back the vehicle back down the alley.

“Sir Hotel Kilo element. We've got the Iraqi command element in our scopes. Lots of T-72's around 'em, infantry too. I count um, eight vehicles, and maybe a platoon of dismounts. Can't see any other elements though. Advise, over.” Seigel whispers over the tac-net.

From your right, Anderson and his eleven boys ghost back into vision.

“Dunno about you sir, but I get the idea that the Iraqis want this city pretty badly. Sounds like shit is heating up near the refineries. We oughtta make sure those get held on to.” He says, checking his ammo.

>Wat do?
>>
>>22929239
Get their location, make sure we can move to support if they get lit up.
Then let them shoot.
>>
>>22929239
Take Anderson and his people to the refineries and have the others cause as much chaos as possible at their command.
>>
>>22929239
Have Seigel and Ooishi set up a sniper position.
Us and Anderson, with Rockfield and Rosalez, hit their command element and draw away their T-72's.
Siegel and Ooishi then snipe the command vehicles and kill the officers while we kill the tanks and infantry.
>>
>>22929239
Hit the command element, I say, full force. Refineries are important but we might be able to take the initiative away from the Iraqis this way.
>>
>>22929324
This. We take out the command elements and the Iraqis will begin to fragment. They aren't trained for independent action.
>>
>>22929239
How feasible would punching them in the face from one side to draw their attention before pulling back while Seigel & Ooishi drill them and then do the same be?
>>
>>22929337
>>22929321
Well, if we kill their commanders, won't that cause their rank-and-file to fall into disarray and make keeping the city and the refineries easier?
>>
>>22929362
>hit a stationary, unsuspecting target
>hit a moving target taking cover from enemy shells
uh
yeah
>>
>>22929239

I'm assuming that the command element is dismounted?

I'm leaning towards having Sushi setup to snipe the commanders.

Our tanks make a quick attack and break off, draw off the majority of their infantry and armour that we didn't kill, leaving the command element in the open for sushi to take care of.
>>
>>22929412
So you want to reverse the order of >>22929324
?
Have Seigel and Ooishi hit the Iraqi command element first, then we punch the T-72's from the side while they're still traversing their turrets towards our sharpshooters?
>>

Pretty much.

>>

That can work as well.

Lets do that.

Are we moving in just to cover Sushi and Seigel's retreat or moving in to wipe them out?

Because while they will be disorientated, the rank and file of the Iraqi army can fight as well as any other just by itself if you don't need force integration and I'm not too keen on driving our tanks into a platoon of infantry.
>>
>>22929501
>scared of unentrenched infantry
>laughing HE shells.jpg
If they get to cover we run the fuck away, though.
>>
>>22929501
I was thinking of just to cover Sushi and Siegel, unless the Iraqi's get REALLY disoriented, and we end up being able to mow down the infantry with coaxial machine guns, Rosalez's M2, and Rockfield's SAW.
>>
>>22929536
Hey, remember, we got those shiny new cannister shells.

One good shot and all that infantry is toast.

It's a city fight and they're hanging around that location.

If they haven't taken the time to set up defences and entrench at least abit, they are beyond incompetent.
>>
>>22929239
Let Ooishi and Seigel get us some intel. What is the range to the refinery? If it is close, let's detach and take some Saudis to get blooded. Break the Iraqi thrust and perhaps allow us to use the momentum to flank.

“Alright boys and girls, the fish rots from the head. We're gonna hit that command structure hard and fast, hopefully that'll throw the enemy into disarray. Hotel Kilo, you keep us updated on their movements. Once we're in position, you're gonna hit the lead elements, and we'll mop up. Go word is 'liquid'. Roger that?”

Seigel's voice is barely audible. The sounds of small arms around her has picked up, though the calmness in her voice tells you that none of it is directed at her.

“Roger that. We're in a used car lot, behind a chain link fence. Three blocks up, four blocks left. Advise you travel one up, six left, two up. You'll show up right behind them.”

“Solid. Everybody hear that? Anderson, you're leading the way, Rosalez, right behind them. Rockfield, Patterson, mix up with the tanks.” Your company quickly complies, Anderson's infantry slips into the alleyways and ground stories of the buildings ahead of you.

“Sir, we're gonna leave about a block of distance between you and us. We run into anything, you'll be close enough.” Anderson says up ahead of you.

You roger up with a pair of clicks on your radio, before following the witches ahead of you. While tense, the drive to your ambush location is relatively uneventful, which is incredibly surprising. You'd imagine that there would be pickets, or security this close to the enemy command structure, but so far not a damn thing. A scare from a civilian in a Toyota truck speeding down the road, though after seeing four Abrams cannons pointed at him, you imagine he won't be speeding anywhere ever again.
>>
>>22930040

“Sir, they weren't kidding. This place crawls with armor. I count twelve of those paper T-72's we just ran into, unless every Iraqi variant has those silly spotlights. Two, say again, two platoons of infantry. Republican guard, all of 'em.” Anderson whispers over the radio. “They're in an ugly position though. Looks like a construction site. Low cover for the infantry, that's about it. All the armor is in the open.”

“Hotel Kilo here. Enemy command units are in a semicircle of four-bys, center of the formation. Can't tell by their insignia, but it looks like maybe a colonel and some junior officers. We're all lined up, waiting on your word.”

Get Rosalez, Rockfield, Patterson, and Anderson ready to spray those infantry to make them keep their heads down.
Once they're in position, engage.
Ooishi and Siegel take out the command elements, and we pop in and take out those tanks a few seconds after that.
>>
>>22930093
>I can't help but think of a depressed cyclops for some reason.
It's depressed because it knows that it's a shitty Iraqi knock-off of a somewhat respectable (for its time) Soviet T-72.
>>
>>22930048
give HK permission to fire on command elements and roll our armor in, make sure to move past their front arcs, their turrets are slow to turn, get us out of their arcs of fire and we tear them apart
>>
>>22930048
Snipers take out the command element. 3 Abrams deal with the armor with DU rounds while the last Abrams uses canister shot to take out the infantry. The rest of the witches engage at will once the first shot is fired.

“Alright. Simple game plan. Quarterback, Rosalez, and Rockfield, you're on supression duty. Keep those two platoons down as best you can. Armor, we're on tank duty. Hotel Kilo, neutralize that command staff.”

Nicky slowly rotates the turret onto one of the T-72's, centering the reticule on the thin turret ring.

“All units. Liquid.”

The faint pops of Ooishi and Seigel's rifles are barely heard through your tank, and the four 120mm cannons drown out the other small arms being fired around you. Four of the T-72's almost immediately go up in flames, three of them exploding spectacularly. The other eight, caught in the act of either facing away from you or just beginning to engage first threat of Seigel and Ooishi, instantly recognize their folly. A third AT-4 rocket slams into the rear of one, igniting it's transmission and fuel tank.

The remaining seven tanks begin to reverse, not wanting to stay in the killzone any longer than they have to. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be something they've practiced. Three of the tanks run into each other, two of them tracking themselves. The third, sandwiched between the two immobile vehicles, is met with an enhanced M40 round, the bullet slamming through the steel and tumbling into the ammo racks. The secondary explosions and high speed shrapnel sets one of the already mobility killed tanks on fire, and ruptures it's fuel lines. The fire spreads and grows almost uncontrollably, acting as a fence to barricade the infantry.

All Abrams having been reloaded at this point, the four remaining T-72's are set upon. The APFSDS penetrators bore directly through the armor plating, either killing the crews inside of them or lighting the ammunition storage. Two more go up in spectacular fireballs, separating the turrets from the hulls.

The enemy infantry, seemingly set upon by all sides and having just watched eleven of twelve of their tanks be disabled in about twenty seconds without having even fired a shot, almost all immediately throw down their rifles and put their hands up in surrender.

The final tank's hatches fly open, followed by a white tee-shirt tied to a rigid-antennae.

You look at the destruction in front of you, and can't help but mutter “god damn. Feel sorry for the fucker that has to do the BDA on this one.”

“I hear that, sir.” Nicky replies.
