Sup /tg/! Finally comes the day where I can run my own bullethazard.
But before we start, I'll need to know if any of you are interested in this. Questions are welcome as well.

A short backstory: it's an alternative future, where humans have managed cheap spaceflight. But due to this development, countries find it easier to wage war; and thus two superpowers have emerged: the Aquila Union and the Triumvirate. In the resulting war on Earth, the Aquila Union were triumphant, and forced the Triumvirate forces to settle on Mars. Currently a tense cold war is looming, and space pirates have begun rising from the dark criminal underworlds...

And we arrive with three factions, all of which are available for /tg/ to choose.
Will you side with the Aquilas, who uphold global justice with advanced technology; The anarchic forces of the Cayman Pirates which loot and pillage, or the iron-handed Triumvirate who wants to return to their homeland?
I'll go by majority after 5 posts. When we have decided on a faction, I'll put up the unit sheet and starter mission briefing.

Whichever has the most tech

What's the difference between the three factions. I mean mechanically.
>>
>>22869467
Good thing you asked.
Aquilas' units are more geared towards completing the missions, being versatile and equipped with better tech, but expensive; Caymans' units are more for loot and pillage with no regards for life (thus more for the batshit cleave everything kind of player); while the Triumvirate are more defensive in general.

When we pick a faction I'll explain more about that faction.

Welp, it's decided, we are the crew of Cayman Pirates. Pic is what units we can use for now, the unit class at the topmost row and the loadouts below them.

The Cayman Pirates are a collective term for all the underworld criminals, space pirates, mercenaries and refugees who decided to band together. They prey off the ships of both the Triumvirate and the Aquila, soon becoming a pain in the butt for both faction as the Caymans hit their supply.

Now, decide your name, your class, and your loadout; A player may not change class later, but may change loadouts. Then you put them in your nametag. So for example if you want to be a skirmisher with a sword, you'd put (Skc-SW) in front of your name. Also, a trip is needed, so I can tell who is who in the melee.
>>
Here boss, no, don't bother asking about the nickname.

Ah yeah, you're also supposed to pick which loadout you want, so the available loadous for (Coh) is (Coh-KH), (Coh-EW), or (Coh-IS).
Don't worry, there's probably tons of things that can be hacked in that freighter.

By the way, that Hoshino sure is nice enough to send us the blueprints, so we're not going in completely blind. Kurage Maru? We're gonna hit a jellyfish? Whatever this 'exotic goods' are, must be worth something.

>>
>>22870150
For now, the limit is 12, but that can change if we get an influx of new players.

Oh, almost forgot, there are things called 'Tac-points', which is the representation of loot needed to call in favors/reinforcements/what have you. For the Cayman Pirates, the ways to generate Tac-points is to:
a) Loot errythang not bolted to the floor
b) Kill every non-ally mofo unless the cap said so
c) Hack errythang
These things will generate Tac-points in small amounts.

Okay, the roll call so far:
[Asc-AR]"Buttercup" !i64JEple9o
[Coh-KH]Coffee !xQVJCx6odo
[Skc-Sw] Nash !cCsMsaA4k2
Mc Funky D. (COH-EW)
(Asc-GL)Is !!VMJuvVuY6J8

Nice, I'll wait for 5 more minutes for any other new folks who wanted to join. Also, if there is any confusion in doing stuff while in mission, just ask, and ye shall receive.
>>
>>22870272
The D. wants to know if we roll for actions and all that good jazz.
>>
>>22870315
Yep, doing actions (which usually meant shooting or slashing or hacking at stuff) uses rolls of d10s. The system is roll-under, and for hacking/weapons there's a target number (the boxed numbers), and how many dice you roll (the x numbers after). So for example a Skc-SW uses her sword [7]x1, she just rolls a 1d10 and hope she gets below 7, while an Asc-AR shoots her Ak normally [6]x3 rolls 3d10 and hope some of them are below 6.
>>
Allrighty, so far the roll call is:
[Asc-AR 1]"Buttercup" !i64JEple9o
[Coh-KH 1]Coffee !xQVJCx6odo
[Skc-Sw] Nash !cCsMsaA4k2
Mc Funky D. (COH-EW 2)
(Asc-GL 2)Is !!VMJuvVuY6J8

Notice the numbers, they'll be what differentiates between you and a fellow with a similar class.
And since the 5 minute is up, these motley crew will be sent on the first wave! Hold on while I set up the pieces on the map...

Hurtling through space, the Assault Borer hides itself in the asteroid belt, waiting for the Kurage Maru to pass.
"3..."
The freighter grows from a small speck into a larger shilouette.
"2..."
Kurage Maru slows down, as maneuvering to avoid the asteroids are crucial for their cargo.
"1..."
A strong electromagnetic pulse bursts, obviously our own Jamming Beacon, hidden in the asteroids, starts working.
"Into the breach, everybody hold on!"
The Teredo engages its thrusters, and plunges headlong into the side of the Kurage Maru. As soon as it impacts, large holding claws on its front end unfold and bite into the hull.
And then, a loud SHUNK and a drilling sound, as the bore bit extends into the ship.

You guys are the yellow dudes. Nash is the 1st Skc, while Rocksteady is the 2nd. There are doors to the north, south and east of your position; the drill bit seems to have hit the cargo hold, right above a crate.
Hackable things will show themselves as a green laptop icon. ACTION PHASE GOOOO

But Jonsy, you are all out of ammo... are you rolling for bluff?

Oh, thought it was 3 double shots. Redoing.

"Haha! Spaceguy you better kill that asshole! And you the chicken shit, pick up a fucking weapon and start fighting back or lay on the floor and don't move!"

>>22874367
because I'm Asc I never actually have to DECLARE overwatch right?

Also, so I have two pistols... but only 3 bullets between them per reload? Cause I've only shot in 2 rounds before this I though- OH! forgot the overwatch attack. Nvm.
>>
>>22874347
Well, see the sixhole revolver with 3x in PD's sheet? That means reload after 3x use. You've emptied your chambers with that stunning double headshot, and you are now empty.
I'll take your rolls for bluff and dodge, respectably; in future missions you just don't get this chance.
EDIT: oh, okay, rolling with this post then. >>22874347

Also, someone want to bot Funky D and his inadvisable cloak?
>>
>>22874385
no, it's cool, I recorded the original roll, and put in my actions >_>
>>22874367

also he's been botted.
>>
>>22874385
Already did, he will Inadvise us to the generator room. *2 cloaked hackers*
>>
>>22874384
well, you have to, the Combat Focus thing is activated, so you have to declare overwatch when not using CF.

Lemme see... who haven't moved yet? Wurm? Buttercup?
>>
Okay, I'm assuming everyone's got their shit together. Wurm, last call for actions, unless you want to be botted, in which case get the botter to post.
Buttercup, I see your deleted post, I will treat it as if you are reloading.

The conscript in the lift is startled as a killbot just leisurely strolls in, followed by a blur. Did that blur just press the lift controls?
Meanwhile, Wells channels Jonsy's threat through his rig, and projects it using technotrickery to appear as if there are two Jonesy. A reply:
"You can go fuck own mother, Cheki Breki!"
Nash managed to get the civilian to stop, drop, and cry on the ground. Will this net him any Tac-Point? We shall see...

Well, since most of the players are sleepy or have a big day ahead of them, I shall halt Epsilon drive until next time.
Next time being either tomorrow, friday, or weekends. And oh, it's archived already, and I can track this through foolz.
Good evening, thank you for playing, resume next time!
>>
>>22875176
Somebody archive the thread real quick.
>>
>>22875190
Is already archived on SUPTG. Upvote it!
>>
So yeah, in the meantime, if people have questions and etc. post em here.
>>
>>22875364
Oh my god! We forgot to loot those damn soldiers! I feel so ashamed...
>>
>>22877887
Relax, you can do that post-mission when the ship's fully under your control.
I mean
if there are any ship left.
>>
>>22877924
Unless this epsilon drive thingy-majiger is small enough to be carried by one or two people, the ship had better survive...

Also. The ship's hull looks TINY! How do they survive microasteroid impacts? Things like a quarter sized chunk of solid iron or titanium hurtling at a serious percentage of C relative to the impacted vessel? Is it shields? Are our drills just specially built to punch through an otherwise unbreakable material? Is it like the Ring World Material and is either unbreakable, or deforms so much that it effectively seals itself by making a "pipe" from one end of the ship to another?

That's all pretty important. Cause it'll completely change how we go about SPACE COMBATAN! If it's something like shields, then any impact from the inside, even something as simple as a GRENADE, hell, even to high a caliber of bullet would tear through the hull. Of course, we could be using subsonic ammunition... that would explain why our gun shots (which should be LUDICROUSLY loud inside of a contained environment like this) but body armor would mostly protect against that...

Also, how does long distance space combat work? Like, inside of a ship, the contained environment would mean that any serious impact (such as, for example, a Davy-Crocket level nuclear device impacting and exploding against the hull), would pretty much pulp anyone inside of the vessel from the vibrational energy transfered first through the hull, and then into the air. And at the speeds things go in space, it's not like that would be impossible to over come, especially if we got boarding pods which must be fairly accurate in terms of guidance systems, to meet something else in space.

or is the answer ultimately "It's all unobtanium powered devices. Leave your hard sci-fi at the door please/thankyou." In which case, I must declare I has a sad.
>>
>>22878903

I'm pretty sure it's that second one, because you are majorly over thinking this. There are only two things we need to worry about. Killing assholes and sweet sweet loot.
>>
>>22878903
huh, yeah. Hull is supposed to be thicker, at least the outer ones. Ships have rudimentary shields that deflect micromets (and in Aquila's case, weaponry), as well as special alloyed hulls (which could be made from unobtainium). Eh, it's somewhere between soft scifi and hard scifi. And yes we're using subsonic boolits.
Long distance space combat, eh? Well, there are lasers and missiles and solid rounds, as well as space fighters. Players can and will have space battles, riding ships from fighter to frigate class.
the ship size classes are:
fighter
corvette (includes gunship) - Teredo is in this size category
frigate
capital
>>
>>22879046
So... if we're using subsonic bullets...

why are none of these guards wearing body armor? Which would pretty much ensure that there's nothing getting through at the speeds we'd be shooting. Silencers+Subsonic rounds don't do the "mouse fart" but they'd screw with the sound more than enough to make it quiet, but at the same time, wouldn't they have hard time piercing armor even kevlar?
>>
>>22879097
...derp. Well, this is based on rule of cool anyways, with hard scifi to root them a bit. But yeah, what if the bullets go supersonic just as they hit the targ-
ehh, it's late, accept the rule of cool for the moment.

>...derp. Well, this is based on rule of cool anyways, with hard scifi to root them a bit. But yeah, what if the bullets go supersonic just as they hit the targ-
>ehh, it's late, accept the rule of cool for the moment.
aye-aye

Alternatively, however they generate microgravity might just not be that condusive to wearing metal plates or shielding of some sort all over your body... but yeah. Rule of cool works XD. Or maybe these guys aren't full military? So they're more the spacer equivalent of mall guards? Or even just fully fledged crew who are actually allowed to carry weapons unlike the civvies on the ship. Wait, no... something tells me the space-russkies probably aren't big on corporations and they'd not send nonmilitary fighters to guard some sooper-seekret macguffin...

So yeah. Rule o'Cool it is.

Or if we're being REALLY fucking creepy, the unobtanium walls of the ships are echoless. They'd pretty much screw up and dampen and silence all sound rather than reflect it properly... the problem is, that echoless chambers tend to drive people insane within 45 minutes as their ears start to pick up the sound of their own breathing and heart beat to compensate for the complete lack of background noise...

So then they'd just all have to wear earplugs or have speakers placed at regular intervals pumping out elevator music to prevent people from going insane... more expensive ships with higher powered engines that could afford the extra mass of, you know, an inner layer that wasn't echoless unobtanium (since the laws of momentum and inertia don't change just because you're outside of gravity. The more massive the ship, the more fuel is necessary to burn to accelerate it), they'd be fine.

That would explain us using faster-than-sound bullets, and why no one was hearing us :P

Also, doors being air tight would pretty much ensure no noise was passing between rooms. And we can be fairly certain all the doors are air tight when closed.
>>
>>22879273
I just found a lil'guy in the elevator, anyway, anyone coming with us, or do we have to tackle the entire engineering section by ourselves?
>>
Kill him, I'm making sure we don't get slammed from 3 directions at once. Get into the crew quarters, get into engineering, get inside, hack the doors to lock them behind you, kill shit, start shutting down power to the doors in any section we don't control (like crew quarters).
