It's time to play again, /tg/! Sorry for the slight delay; I was distracted by posting possibly the single greatest stream of hatred I have ever put into words!

You are the Long Fangs tribe, a primitive tribe of peoples on the cusp of the Bronze Age. With the assistance of your heroes and the guidance of your gods, it falls to you to guide your people through the ages, steering them through good times and bad, towards their eventual, far-off destiny. Do you think you are up to the task? Can you (to steal a phrase) build a civilization to stand the test of time?

Previous thread is here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/22773961/

Rolled 3

Hey there!
Have been reading the past threads and am looking forward to joining you guys. Great work so far Britfag!
As a sidenote, I think the calendar is not yet added to our science list.
>>
>>22864410
Here as well.
>>
>>22864520
Welcome to the game. As you may well know it has been running forever and a day so it's nice to have new people.

Feel free to suggest actions and blah blah blah all that other good stuff.
>>
Don't you die on me, you son of a bitch!

From what I know, he's likely to get himself some food ^^
>>
>>22864838
Seems entirely likely, actually. But then again, I'm not usually here until 1730 so this could be entirely normal.

Also, Ska, chat. Please. I have a question that only your German-ness can answer appropriately.
>>
Missed the last thread, but gonna be here tonight. Howdy all.

AND THAT'S ENOUGH PEOPLE TO START!

>When last we left the Long Fangs...
>"Hrunti, I believe we need to talk serious about our tribe. We are not the people who killed the white wolf so long ago. Our people have grown, made mistakes, and had triumphs. I believe it is time we finally learn about the gods, and what our place among them is exactly. What is in the deep woods? What are the gods? What has our world been?"

Hrunti, the god of the wolves, looking as though a tall, strong and lithe man, clad in buckskins and with the pelt of his former form, the great, white wolf, draped over his shoulders, rubbed his rough-shaven chin and looks down at Derrik. The god still bares the marks of his true nature by the colour of his hair; white as the pelt he wears as a cape, as well as the white, wolf's ears atop his head, the tail behind him and his piercing, yellow eyes. Derrik, the wolf god's ageing priest, sits before the great bulk of the Wolf Oak, Hrunti's sacred site. A knot of the roots makes an excellent seat for Hrunti, as he considers Derrik's words.
"Those are all very, very good questions," Hrunti nods slowly, considering his words carefully, "And know this much before all else... I do not know everything."

"I know my own nature," Hrunti goes on, "For if I did not, I would not 'be'. I could not. And I know of the Deep Woods, by virtue of the long years I spent there in the hunt. I know of the pack and of the prey; I know of the spirit of the wolf... Of you humans, I learn what I do not know. Of the other gods and spirits of this world, I learn too."
"Will I tell you all that I know? Perhaps, though most likely not. Will I tell you SOME? Certainly. Will it all that you desire to know? No. Nor will it be all that you may NEED to know. I do not have a use for whelps that eat but do not hunt for what they want."
"Ask then and I will teach at least a little."
>>
>>22864410
Jackov here.
>>
>>22865316
>Sorry that took so long! I had to find the right words.

Hrunti has agreed to answer some questions the tribe has regarding godlore! He may also volunteer some relevant information. He is NOT able, or willing to tell you everything however and this will NOT unlock new abilities, though you may unlock new things you can research, by finding out about them through Hrunti. It will take CULTURAL EVENTS to fully research aspects of god lore, however.

Is that clear enough?
>>
>>22865316
"What is in the deep woods, besides the mundane beast. What creatures that boarder on the realm of spirits inhabit the dark reaches. Are there beings like us and you, inteligent. Are their creatures powerful and deadly we may hunt in your honor?"

"Worship must do something for you, you are not the one to ask it merely to stroke your own vanity. We need to know this if we are to combat the Sun God's influence."

"We wish to grant you more power, more dominion over the world. Instead of just a god of wolves a god of the entire forest, or of nature itself. To help you along that path we must know if it is possible for you to absorb another spirit, and its dominion, into yourself."
>>
>>22865369
I'd like to know what beasts lurk in the forest and if he believes we could make use of them beyond food. We will gladly hunt/capture them ourselves obviously, but any clues he might deem acceptable to give would be lovely.

Or perhaps if he might know where the Lion Tribe has gone.

Side note, we should totally get back on leaving offerings for the gods again. We havent done too terribly much of that in a long while.
>>
>>22865369
The Imperial Emperor of Lupin Affairs believes that we should ask where to find beasts to ease our burdens, in both peace and war. Work animals or guard animals or something.

We need to ask if there is anything in the woods we need to worry about, any creature that we should avoid waking or any grove that we should try not to defile.

We need to know if there are any secrets in the forest that could help our tribe greatly, anything from a spring that might have certain curative qualities to a tree whose branches will burn forever, that kind of stuff. Enchanted locations, basically.

We need to ask how to hunt the biggest prey, in order to bring further glory to Hrunti's name. Tactics for taking down boar and bear without casualties, and perhaps even larger monsters.

We must know how to fight against the gods or godly magic. If this information requires any special oaths or vows that we will not use it against allied gods, take it. Also, ask this question last in case we offend. That way we'll get the information we need BEFORE we fuck things up.

We do not need to ask what gods are in the Deep Woods, Hrunti has all but confirmed that everything either IS a god or HAS a god.

So sayeth Emperor Lupis Fullius Moonius Lyconious, the Fifth of His Lineage

"DO NOT ASK SUCH A THING!" Hrunti shouts, a look between panic and horror on his face! The god takes a moment to collect himself, then explains. "I am as I am, as it is my nature. Were it not my nature, I would not be. Understand?" Seeing Derrik's confused expression, Hrunti sighs and continues. "If I were to consume another god, or elsewise take their power, I would no longer be Hrunti, the White Wolf. I would be something else entirely. The strain would tear me in two and neither would be myself. A lesser spirit might take on the powers of a god, as I took my own nature from the last spirit of the wolves, some thousand seasons ago, as you humans measure time, but I was then merely one of The Pack, not a god. Understand? A god is as they are and cannot be otherwise, save by their own nature changing, something that I cannot do."

"As to what lies within the Deep Woods," Derrik can practically hear the Capitol Letters, "There are many things." Hrunti looks up at the Wolf Oak and frowns slightly, "Think of this place as a door to a house. Or more accurately, as a gate in a wall. Those that know how may walk here, from this land to the Deep Woods, if they know how. Within those endless forests dwell many beings, some lesser, some greater, some greater than I. If you would hunt them, be cautious and know that I will not bless you if you kill a spirit there and bring its wrath upon me, by any means." He snorts and smirks, "Unless by the 'deep woods', you mean those you can travel to by simply walking. In which case my answer would be: Find out for yourself!"

"Worship, now there's an interesting thought..." he strokes his chin and grins, "It may mean something more to me and then, it may not. I do not think I shall tell you!" He laughs and sits back, "Though now you mention it... A festival may not go amiss. All your hunts are well and good, but a party would please me greatly! With music and drink! Offerings too, of course..."
>>
>>22865621
As many as Hrunti feels like answering!

>>22865447
"The Lion Folk have passed beyond my sight," Hrunti sighs, his smile dropping. "They have not entered the forest, this much I know. A shame. But I still have you all at least. It would be most lonely without you humans around."

"If you wish secrets of the forest, you may feel free to search for them!" he sighs, in response to Derrik's next question, "I am not inclined to serve as your personal guide. Mark your own territory, grey pup! And tell your fellow men to do the same! Nor can I give you great insight into the hunt." He leans forward and seems somewhat more serious. "Listen well, for I shan't say this again: I cannot teach you much of what you wish to learn of the hunt. I can teach you to run, to stalk, to act as one. I can teach you of the wolf and the pack, but I cannot teach you a man's way to kill a bear, or a boar, only the Wolf's Way. Do you understand me?"

The Wolf God sits back as Derrik digests his god's last words, then listens to the old priest's final questions. "My interest in humans? It goes as deep as it goes. You are interesting. You do many clever things, as I have said before. You are better conversation than The Pack or The Prey, that is for sure. As for how far the relationship between a god and human should go..." He leans forward and grins, "Bring me a young woman, or a girl from your village, one who is willing to learn from me, then you'll know."
>>
>>22866220
I like the way he thinks. A festival and a woman. He truly is a god of the people.
>>
>>22866253
Hrunti once again proves that he is bro-tier level of god.
>>
So then, after the harvest and salmon run, festival time, right? I mean, that will be the best time to do it. Might make for another lean winter, but not so bad as last time if our crops took hold well enough.

This starving shit, we brought it on ourselves, but maaaaaan.
>>
>>22866220
Well, looks like we're gonna have a party to get Hrunti a women.

Maybe the demigod is still on.

Hrunti's on top of it. Get it? Yeah, you get it.

Also, gif isnt a gif.
>>
So, we can't have Hrunti absorb gods, but there must be some way to increase his dominion. if not absorbing then increasing his power so he can demand the other god's be under him.
>>
>>22866666
Shit dem quints. There might be though I dont think Hrunti himself will be entirely too big on the idea.
>>
>>22866788
We can calmly explain to him as our civilization grows we will make enemies, both god and mortal. To continue our survival together we need to make him more powerful as a necessity. We do not wish to fight, but sometimes it is unavoidable.

If he does not wish for power we will still worship him as we do before, but will be saddened because our paths will diverge and his walk will no longer be on the same as ours.

Basically it's a wish for expansion, for ourselves. We wish one day, as we tried to do with the Riverlands, for all to be united under the great banner of Longfang. We are not attempting to merely have a tribe, but to birth a nation.
>>
>>22866831
I do not see that happening. We'll look to Hrunti as we have always looked to him. Besides, if the day ever comes when we become technologically advanced to not need him as much, well, he's still hrunti.

EVENT
It's harvest time! The fields have FINALLY borne a harvest! Fields of waving grain are harvested by the tribe, finally putting an end to the fears of famine!
>>
>>22867274
Good a time as any for that festival then.

B. Send Trym out to hunt. He isn't Derrik, but he is still a hunter and a hero. Fish as well.
D. Its fall so fruits and stuff should be ripe.
F. Dat Festival. Make it for all of the gods in thanks for the harvest. Make offerings and such. Find Hrunti his woman.
>>
>>22867274
So guys... what's our course of action?

IIRC we wanted to chop down some trees in order to expand the fields and do some other shit I don't remember.

Also looking for good stuff like the beehive from 30 threads ago.
>>
>>22867274
B) The salmon run happens in 8, I think britfag forgot about it. Send Rina to get us fish.
F) Festival for Hrunti, make offering and find him a woman to his liking.
I) Begin felling trees at the edge of the field so as to expand it again later.
>>
>>22867317
Sure we don't want to throw some woodchoppan in there instead of fruits? IIRC we don't get much from that anyway.
>>
>>22867371
This is me.

Also our harvest happens this turn, so lets see how much food we get this turn! Harvest plus salmon! I bet it will be a fairly big boost!
>>
>>22867322
I figure we could throw the apiary in with the harvest of good from the forest, yes?

And field can probably wait a turn until moon 9. We've still got that and two turns in spring to expand.
>>
>>22867380
I think harvest is atumatic, isn't it? With that one family taking care of the fields.
>>
>>22867385
But we need to chop wood AND expand. That will slow down progress, and we really should expand much more.

Also what Ref said
>>22867380

Food should be relatively high, compared to usually.
>>
>>22867385
Well, we have 170 units of food coming in. So thats enough to keep us all fed for two months. Factoring in the fish that should keep us tied over for three. We'll be able to do only one food thing a turn and keep the others for research and such.
>>
>>22867410
automatic, wtf
>>
>>22867410
yes it is automatic.
>>
>>22867418
So lets say the salmon run brings in... I don't know... 30 units.

Plus we have an automatic ~15 per turn from our various traps and such.

so that's 215 units, enough for everyone for three whole turns without any hunting or anything being needed. I say we still spend one per turn on stuff, but use the other two for fun things. In addition food research... that is our main thing right now that needs doing.
>>
>>22867478
Yep, I think that was the hivemind's plan for the past threads.
>>
>>22867521
We should develop a hive mind...

Also as per the whole food research. What do we do next? Expand fields are a must, but i think we should assign vassal clans to the farming one. Make them subordinates who also work the fields. it will help to lead to a more defined structure for such things, but also it will be needed. One clan can't do everything.

Maybe use a free action to speak to Tagril Broadeye (head of the farming clan) about if he needs some extra hands around the field and suggest the subordinates thing to him. From his interactions with us so far it seems that he has a healthy lust for power.
>>
>>22867571
Ref, I assume.

Food research would probably be coupled with asking our farming god, because research is still discovery-based.
>>
>>22867672
I was thinking something not based around farming. Our animals could use advancing, also trapping in the woods to provide an automatic meat like the fish traps do for fish.

Also we need to get it through our thick skulls that eating the rock wobblers is a good idea.
>>
>>22867689
Also I would be remiss to say that the salmon run happened last thread in turn 7. Maybe it was early this year? I don't know but yeah. Already done.
>>
>>22867748
Oh well then. Lets give Rina a rest then during the winter. Maybe throw her a boon with setting her up some apprentices to take the load off. Britfag, how has the outpost temple down the river been doing? I knew we staffed it with 5 or so apprentices.
>>
>>22867788
>brit sees this
>fuck if I know
>>
>>22867371
seconding this... seems like the thread stopped...
>>
>>22867371
Actually, the salmon run was LAST moon... There's still a little time to change this. I kind of nodded off there...
>>
>>22867371
B) Send Trym out to hunt. He isn't Derrik, but he is still a hunter and a hero. Fish as well. Without Rina.
F) Festival for Hrunti, make offering and find him a woman to his liking.
I) Begin felling trees at the edge of the field so as to expand it again later.

How does this sound?
>>
B. Send Trym out to hunt. He isn't Derrik, but he is still a hunter and a hero. Fish as well.
C. Begin felling trees to further expand our fields later and give us wood for more buildings.
F. Dat Festival. Make it for all of the gods in thanks for the harvest. Make offerings and such. Find Hrunti his woman.

Trym may not be a priest, but he is still a hunter of great renown in the tribe. His expertise and the legend surrounding him encourage the hunters alongside him to work harder than ever in hunting down their prey. Under Trym's expert leadership and guidance, they bring home a substantial amount of meat from the various animals of the forest, though everyone is starting to get heartily sick of the smaller animals, which, once boned, do not particularly leave much to be eaten. Out on the river, though the salmon run is (for the most part) over, fishers still manage to catch a healthy haul as the last of their annual bounty swims upstream.

Those of the village not involved in hunting or fishing, promptly set to felling trees, clearing more of the forest, in preparation for expanding the fields even further. The bronze tools, bartered for from the Spray Folk, make it a considerably easier task than otherwise and several of the villagers are heard to comment, wondering how they could go back to stone and copper after this.

Finally, as the harvest comes in, the entire village erupts into celebration! The Hard Times, as they have come to be known, are at last over, with baskets full of grain being stored in the village, for use over winter. The grain porridge they make may not be particularly appetizing, but it's filling and is a very, VERY welcome change to meat that has been the sole source of nutrition for some years now. The village has good reason to celebrate and its does so, draining the last of the reserves of berry liquor and partying for days. Perwan in particular is praised highly, her shrine being covered with offerings. As part of the celebrations too, a young woman is selected and brought into the forest by a singing and drinking procession. She is presented before the Wolf Oak and there is a mighty cheer as the god Hrunti appears in person to claim her.
>Field leeength!
>>
>>22868764
The girl does not return until the following morning. When she does however, she immediately swears herself to the service of Hrunti, as a priestess of the Wolf God. She then proceeds to viciously assault a trio of unfortunate, still drunk, revellers, who had the bad taste to make a few lewd remarks about her 'service'. After the three had been beaten savagely and she had been hauled off them, the girl tugs her buckskin pants down and incites anyone present to check, if they so dared, to see if she was still a virgin. No-one chooses to take her up on the offer.

I hope they are having an adventure (just think of the possibilities). Maybe even brining Ya'Jal back as an actual artifact. The spear of bone shall become our longest fang.

I was thinking more sending her to commune with Chani or some such.

Also, we have two heroes and one semi-hero out in the wilderness right now. Gerin, Shield Maiden (I'm just gonna call her Susan), and Xotel (scary shield man).

WAIT! I just got an idea, what if on their journey they encounter whatever came to Xotel that night, what if he comes back a full hero unit?

>>22869159
Trym again leads the hunters out, this time after larger prey and they together bring home several heads of deer that would not be missed among the herds. Properly butchered and combined with the fish from another trip out onto the river, the tribe is now reasonably certain that the worst of their hunger pangs are well and truly behind them.

The fields are expanded once again into the newly cleared land, before the ground gets too hard to work in the winter. The fields can now produce a grand total of 230 units of grain and 48 units of vegetables every harvest season.

The tribe makes one last foray into the forest before winter, fetching fruit and berries from the trees and setting to explore the nooks and cranies and secret pathways they may have missed. Before the moon turns, the Long Fangs have an intimate understanding and knowledge of the forest immediately surrounding the village, though nothing immediately comes to light as being out-of-the-ordinary.
>>

278? Damn, that is nearly four months of food. If we explained a bit more next spring we can bump that up to three fifty, and hopefully all the way to five hundred by the end of next year.

And it's for feelings like this that I started this quest. All I can say is, "Don't stop now!" You've got a long, long way to go for greatness. But you've beaten the first great challenge of ANY civilization, at LONG last.

It took you some time. You lost direction along the way an awful lot. But you finally did it. You took that first step at long last. You've mastered agriculture.

I think that marks an excellent place to stop for today. I'm glad you all enjoyed today. I hope next time I can actually keep up with you all and try and provide you with a quest that actually goes somewhere, rather than dragging it's feet.

Good night, all. The next quest is on Thursday, the 31st, at 1600EST. I hope to see you all there. Good night and sweet dreams to you all.
