Aside, anything could be a totem. For instance, the gi Omar's wearing could be a totem. It's just something to hold ideas together.

What bothered me the most from the assessment yesterday was Kill's disturbing speed... He cleared distance before I even knew it. With what he had mentioned, it's a type of invocation.. My training today mentioned something about it and well... If I'm going to do well, I need to know more.

Wallie rolls his eyes and buts into the conversation," Look kid, what Kill's say'n, is that Quickening makes Invokers like you speed up, altogether. Mind, Reflex, pulse, all that nonsense. It's how you'd get close to an Evoker that can defend-"

Kill growls at Wallie's interrupting, until he gives him a sharp punch in the shoulder," Hey, kid was talk'n ta me! But yeah, Wallie's right, Quicken makes you perform everything fas'er. Shifts find it great because it speeds transformation and healing."

Ince more thinking back to my training in Karate. It hasn't yet served me in spars, however I'm sure that between the breathing, and the discovery of Quickening, I should see a large improvement in my striking potential.

At a Buzzer, the first target is deployed from the flow, it has a digital number that reads "2000."
I draw in my power further, feeling my marks glow. Kill said he had thought of a Bee, so... My speed and perception improves, I step in and deliver a chambered punch, smashing into the plate. It triggers and colder air pours in.

Another Target is deployed not too far from the first one, I strike that one, yet it doesn't go off, I felt slower that time. Backing off, I breath deeply again and think of a bullet as I deliver another punch, smashing it and gaining more cold air.

With the next one, I know it'll just be harder. Once more, a bullet. Chambered, and released. Another trigger.

I can see my breath at this point.
"Oh, oh, that's a good start Omar! I might have to respect you next time!"

Ugh, this bitch... Shaking my head, I let it come to me again. Unleashing another powerful punch that attains a trigger.

With the chill, I start thinking of fur of some sort, or simply something to keep our heat in. My natural ability causes my hair to thicken upon my exposed arms, legs, and neck as I deliver another triggering punch. So far so good. Without the inherent advent of death, I can relax and just let the power come to me.

I continue on, facing difficulty with the 11th target, reading 7k psi. . . Even with my chambered bullet punch, I'm having trouble...

I draw back for a bit, it's gotten very cold, and despite the fur adaptation, I can feel it. I can see my breath.

Drawing in my chambered arm further, I focus on reinforcement, feeling that similar feeling of pure power, adding on my natural proficiency for adaptive shifting.. yes, I'll call it that... Still, to them, beast mimicry.. I feel a good form come to me and increase my energy absorption to achieve it. My fist becomes a nearly solid bone, and I feel coils of muscle in my arm as I potential striking force is accumulated.

After feeling that it's a bit too warm to be wearing fur, and some more chidings from the bitch over the come, I smash the target with such force, it effectively breaks it.

"Aw goddamnit! I didn't get a good read on that! Didn't you're mother teach you to not break things?"

For an invoker the more mundane or "real" a concept is, the easier it is to perform.

I mentioned in last thread, that the "plane" that their powers originate is the "Flow" a parallel that encompasses thoughts, ideas, souls, spirits, dreams, and gods. This would also include such legends.

Also, yes, I included gods, technically, they can be absorbed and used, though that's another risky move..

The backlash would be either losing yourself to the concept as it's not fully "absorbed" or the failure of absorption could cause invoker related breakdowns, hemmoraging, inability to absorb for a while, death....

With the residual tinge of flames still in my body. I lay in the hospital bed and take in Fauna's story. That could explain why she's so... Scandalous in her actions... But wait..

If she was so sick years ago... and what Wallie said was the truth... Could she...

My thoughts are interrupted as Wallie and Kill come into the room like they own the place.

"Kid, what the fuck was that about? How'd you do that shit? You ok?" Kill seems concerned for me, just as much as he is curious.

"Man, you're lucky I was on the seen to keep the heat in after that crazy bitch walked into the room after you. Just saw her too, awww man, are those fingermarks?! Fuck was she doin' to ya kid?!" Wallie goes on, as I roll my eyes.

"Wallie, I'm fine, and.. I don't think she's all that bad man... Really.. And Kill, I don't know man, it just happened... I'm fine though.. I feel powerful.." I flex my fingertips. They still feel burned, though I figure I'll get used to the feeling. The skin shows no marks or blemishes related to a burn.

I do however notice that there's a flowing red and gold marking on my hands and body. Similar to the original design, though far expanded...

Though it's nice to see these guys, and they're bros for chucking up on me, I want to see Fauna... I don't know... her tragedy.. and mine.. They're similar and yet not... I feel like I get it though...

They're actually considering putting you in S class based on that. Benefactor's interest and all, you might be too dangerous for them to keep. . .
