=============================

You are JOANNA CONSTANTINE. For the past fifteen years, you have been an agent of a shadowy organization known as THE BUREAU. As AGENT 029, you come face to face with PARANORMAL HORRORS on a day to day basis. Fortunately, the Bureau's scientists turned you into the FORM OF ARETE, which makes you the embodiment of a hero. As a side effect of THE PROCEDURE, you cannot age, and are forever trapped in the body of your fourteen year old self.

You have a tendency to FUCKING SWEAR a bit more often than is entirely necessary. You also utterly despise anyone who takes an... interest in you or your FELLOW AGENTS, as clearly they are all pedophiles.

You have been assigned to lead an investigation into the disappearance or death of multiple Burea Agents investigating SITE 029, one of who happens to be your best friend, BELINDA. You have determined that whatever was responsible for their disappearance was an EXTRANORMAL ENTITY, and not some schmuck from the NSA, and are fairly sure that Belinda, at least, is still alive.

At the present moment, you are preparing to mount a rescue mission to free some of your COMRADES from the less than competent clutches of the DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY. They are being kept at an ABANDONED DAIRY FARM but a few miles outside the irradiated RUINS OF BOSTON. The big question right now is who's going to be riding what vehicles, and where your MISSILE PODS are going to be attached.

And put the rockets on the APC.
The VTOL is a civilian model so the rockets would be its only weapons. Also, a VTOL coming close to the dairy farm might spook the DHS.

We DO need either the VTOL or APC because we'll be rescuing some girls in unknown condition.
We should all go in the APC.

OP, is the APC using a Diesel Engine, or an Electric Motor? Does it have a Stealth Mode so it can move quietly?

You go through the short yet arduous process of attaching the missile pods to the Armored Personnel Carrier, as you have come to the conclusion that bringing in a fucking VTOL to a DHS run prisoner camp is damn near the same as yelling to them "Hey, fucking DHS twats! Why don't you fucking sacrifice my comrades to whatever fucking dark god decided it would be a good idea to lend you a mother fucking shoggoth." With this many fucking unknowns, even if you are pretty fucking certain you could kill all of them fairly easily, coming in loud and heavy is a good way to ensure fuck mothering Cthulhu begins his ten thousand year reign of despair.

"And we're not using the whirlybird because..." Amy asks, somewhat put out that she won't get to fly the thing into glorious combat.

"Because that fucker is fucking -loud-," you reply. "Engines roaring like a lion's fucking mating cry is not exactly the fucking ideal method of getting somewhere discretely. Ford and General, over here, runs on smooth ass fucking electric, and more importantly can run without the 'blind people GTFO' sound."

Amy pouts, but can't really find much of an argument against your point. All of you get into the APC, which still looks like a black FG 150 of the sorts that a rich idiot would purchase.

The Dairy Farm isn't that far away, taking you something along the lines of forty minutes to get from your place in Boston to a mile or so out. You sincerely doubt that the DHS would react all that well to you simply running your truck into the side of, say, their barn, so now might be a good time to disembark from the vehicle to get your stealth on. A woods surrounds the farm, just waiting to be exploited. Carmina is probably the best shot, not that any of you are -bad-.

You briefly contemplate the thought of having a lesbian orgy, though by briefly it is meant for the barest fraction of a second before you reign in your thoughts and nip the idea in the bud. You're not Hilda, who eagerly jumps into the bed of every ephebophile she makes pleasant contact with, nor are you Amy or Carmina, whom bed another agent despite it being a violation of the Bureau Code of Conduct. Frankly, you're not even sure how the mechanics behind such would work, nor does the thought of fraternizing with another woman/girl/whatever the fuck you are "charge your batteries," so to speak - you're pretty sure that if you didn't find the concept utterly fucking disgusting, you'd be in Hilda's camp, not theirs.

"Alright," you say, "everybody out. Hilda, stick with the APC - we'll give word once the other agents are secured or if things go to fuck. The moment you get word, charge up those missiles with fucking Hellfire and let them rip." You throw a floating file that you dug up from the DHS servers at her, and she lackadaisically catches it in orbit around her head. "In the interim, those are the blueprints for the buildings - check it for structural faults, and get your firing solutions."

"Not full Hellfire, I hope?" Hilda half asks, pouring over the schema. "Or is local ignition of the atmosphere the type of retribution we're looking for."

You grin viciously, and turn to Carmina.

"Carmina," you say, "scout the place - GMaps gave us some data, but that's..."

"Hardly up to date," she finishes for you. "On it."

She disappears for the briefest moment, and returns collapsed into a pile or agony on the ground. Amy rushes over to her, and tenderly helps the moaning girl up.

"Fuck, fuck, fuckity FUCK," Carmina swears, "Got... one more run in me today, cap. Gonna save it for egress, if you don't particularly mind." She breaths heavily, leaning on Amy's shoulder. "From what I saw, seem to be about two dozen letters in this can of alphabet soup, lightly armed, nothing heavier than a bullpup. Not even a fucking sniper on the roof. Getting in shouldn't be much of a problem." She rubs her knee.

"Joints kicked in before I could take a look inside anything, though," she says. "Saw some lights up on the top floor of the house, but I've a hard time believing even they could be that sloppy. Couldn't get much of a look at the barn or the shed, though - they might be keeping them there." She pushes herself up off of Amy, who reluctantly lets her go. "Found a pretty good looking tree to snipe from about half a click east of here. I... I think I'm just gonna walk there."

She hobbles off, at a pace that would still put most sprinters to shame. "I'll have you covered in time minus two, commander."

Can we use whatever systems in the APC to hack into the DHS/phone provider company so we can track the DHS personnel by phone?

That way, we can have Hilda guide our movements, since she's also looking at the blueprints of the facility.

"Thermal on, girls," you tell Amy and Gertrude, "wouldn't want any of those mother fuckers to catch us off guard with fucking optic camouflage, now would we."

You poke at one of the many icons floating in the peripherals of your vision - a near black green sphere crossed with a much brighter green set of latitudinal and longitudinal lines, with the label Visionhanced floating in bold, friendly letters just below it. The world takes on a different set of hues as your mind adjusts to the overlay of the new data from the infrared spectrum overlaps with your normal vision. Had you ever used lysergic acid diethylamide, you would have likened it to a particularly balling trip, albeit one that only lasts for a handful of seconds.

That brief moment pass, the three of you embark into the surrounding forest.

To your average observer, the scene would have been utterly ridiculous. Two frail looking waifs accompanied by another girl only the slightest bit larger, each wearing a special suit of active camouflage - and a subtly less effective paint where the outfits wouldn't cover - would hardly be intimidating as they should have been for their skills. Indeed, thanks to Amy's hilariously oversized Terminator Railgun, the entire party looked almost comical. But. inspite of that you go unseen to where the farmland meets the forest.

"Okay," Hilda's voice whispers into your ear. "From what I've been able to get, there are five teams patrolling the perimeter in case someone tries to do exactly what we're doing. One's coming your way, and will be at your current position in time minus two minutes." She sighs in frustration. "Unfortunately, someone taught these guys proper doctrine - none of the buildings are more heavily guarded than any of the others - each has three goons on the outside, at least. Can't get a pin on anything inside - seems like they've all either ditched their phones or set up a bunch of Faraday cages."

>2x Natural Twenty: Double Critical
>New Power Unlocked!

You wait for the patrol to pass. They are the picture of the man in black type - the sort of fellow you would guess has no soul, lives only for the mission, wearing everyday the same suit that they will inevitably be killed in. Or, at least, the would be the picture of the man in black type if the three of them didn't look like a troupe of actors trying their damnedest to be badass. Seriously - the asian woman had the figure of a fucking porn star, the african man had an afro that went out of style seventy years ago, and the caucasian man was wearing a cowboy hat straight from the westerns.

You almost sigh in disgust. You could live with their stereotypicality, honestly, had they not been flagrantly disregarding the concept of trigger discipline.

"The barn first," you sign to Gertrude and Amy. "Quiet takedowns only - we don't want to let everyone in the facility know where we are. Amy, take the guard on the barn's left side. Gertrude, take the guard on the right. I'll take the chucklefuck standing right in front of the door."

The two nod, and the three of you begin to crawl your way through the pasture, keeping your profiles lower than the tall grass. It takes you about ten minutes to make it from the treeline to the barn, but no one spots you, and from the distinct lack of gunfire no one spots your buddies, either. Getting the drop on the chucklefuck is easy as not breaking your neck on the high dive at the local pool - something you are rather adept at.

Unfortunately, the man has quicker reaction times than you thought, and physical strength is far from your strong suit, and the moment after your rather pathetic blow to his head connects a knife slips between your ribs and pierces your heart. You die to the sound of a high velocity bullet slamming into the motherfuck's skull.

Of course, the Universe will not let you die.

You hold, after all, the mother fucking Form of a Hero.

As you bleed out, a new set of words flash along your mind's eye, searing through your fading vision like a triad of suns breaking the veil of night and bringing forth the glory of the dawn. These words tie themselves to the core of your being, granting you a relative control over the narrative powered purely by your ability to fiat away inconvenience. The Perfect and Resplendant Form of Arete fills your mind and body, casting forth the light of your soul and bending reality to its will. The words fade into clarity, their splendor becoming a part of you, but another facet of your undying perfection.

:Spell Compiled
:IRON HEART SURGE

His bones were too strong, not brittle enough. Such inconvenience was not conductive to the proper form of a heroic narrative - though the possibility in reality for a young hero to be slain by a barely trained mook is present, it makes for a poor story. The universe shifts itself to have helped you as is its duty, removing the inconvenience from your path, allowing you to fulfill your role as the universal hero.

Your heart is unpierced.

That path is unmade, anathema to the natural order.

You stand atop the mans corpse, your hand bloody with his grey matter. Fragments of bone litter the ground, his skull crushed by the weight of your blow, and you feel better than you have in ages.

You wipe your hand on the man's jacket just in time for dear, sweet Gertrude to swing around the corner and gape at you in utter shock.

"Holy fuck," she says, immediately catching her swear in her mouth. It takes her a moment to regain her composure. "Joanna, if I may inquire, have you taken up the habit of taping silenced pistols to your fists? I'd have guessed you were taking some sort of steroid, by the way that the man looks, but you do not seem to be displaying any prominent visible side effects."

"You hid the body?" you ask her.

"Well, yes, I did, sir," she stammers. "Though that doesn't answer my..."

"Then help me get rid of this motherfuck," you say. "There a shed somewhere back there, or should I just toss him behind a barrel? Not in the mood to dig the fucker a shallow grave." You rub your chest where the knife went in. "Fucker stabbed me in the heart."

At that point, Amy comes around the corner.

"You know, Joey," the brunette chirps, "usually getting stabbed in the heart kills people."

"I got better," you deadpan

The front of the barn is locked. It's a piss easy lock, though, so you imagine that without much effort you could open it. If you really felt like overkill, you could probably even just fiat it away as an inconvenience, though if you don't know what's on the other side that might turn out to be an even greater inconvenience. You could also try to climb your way in through one of the window at the top, though this has the added inconvenience of the barn both lacking perch to climb easily and metal to magnet to.

>Crit Fail!
>Effect: Lose all common sense. Be the Kool-Aid Man

"Okay," You say, after dropping the dead guard's body behind a barrel, "here's the plan. We break in there, will kill every mother fucker that so much looks at us funny, and if the girls are in there, we snatch them and give the Hilda the order to send this fucking place to hell." You cock your bullpup, leaning up against the wall, ready to slam your way past it.

"Oh, I like this plan!" Amy says, her smile getting vicious. "Subsonic rounds, I presume? I'll set mass to single kilogram shots."

"Unsubtle," says Gertrude, "but sometimes in the face of brutality, one must abandon subtlety to be triumphant. Very well."

"Alright, alright, enough with the philosophizing!" You give the sign, "One..."

The three of you pull back from the wooden barnside.

"Two..."

You brace yourselves, getting ready to charge right through the thing.

"Three."

As one, the three of you slam your shoulders into the wall of the barn, each of you subtlety boosting it with your power. You utilize a hero's speed to increase the force of your blow, Gertrude sends an electric shock through her skin to char the wall away, and Amy becomes like unto a five foot two blade crashing against it. The sturdy oak wall capitulates under your force, and the three of you crash through.

It is dark inside. There is no sound of gunfire, nor the gnashing of teeth or the tekeli-li's indicative of a shoggoth's foul presence. Something sets your hair on edge though - something subtle, something more horrifying than either of those. You feel movement to your right, and in a fit of professionalism you throw a flare at it, ready to light it up with high caliber low velocity rounds. It's grim silouhette is cast upon the far side as the flare douses the barn with blinding light, and it opens its maw and releases it's terrible cry.

Anyway, It's rather inconvenient for no bad guys to be in the barn. Therefore I vote we use IHS to bust in on the enemy control center proper, preferably right behind the most capable fighter there so we can gank him before he figures out what's going on.

I wasn't sure how to write it in without breaking the mood, given that Spells have the whole 'sun against the minds eye' thing going on. Needless to say, in a more dramatic situation, it will be evident when it happens.

"Fuck!" You exclaim in shock. That cow came the fuck out of nowhere, in a manner eerily reminiscent of the shoggoth that had been fucking things up during the Ward Incident. Come to think of it, that little piece of fuck had disguised itself as a cow as well - beady little red eyed fuck that ate people the way most bovines go through grass. Had a habbit of sneaking up on people in the same manner, actually...

"Nope," you declare, "Nope, not at all." You raise your bullpup, ready to put the thing out of your misery.

"Joey, it's just a cow," assures Amy.

"Yeah," you reply, aiming the laser sight right between the damn thing's eyes. "And back at her apartment that fucking shoggoth was just Gertrude, having finally gotten enough money for her species reassignment surgery to be the shoggoth she always was on the inside."

"That's not very funny, Joanna."

You shoot the thing in the skull, anyways, just to be sure. Then, immediately afterwards, you attempt to IRON. HEART. SURGE. your way into making the Barn the DHS' proper headquarters, such that could get the drop on them out of nowhere. You fill your mind with perfection, and...

The spell fizzles. You see a blonde woman, who may or may not be a figment of your imagination, yawning in the corner of your eye. Your head resounds with a melodious voice that seems to be more disappointed than anything else, and you notice that the figment lady is frowning.

"Tut, tut, tut," she says, her parasol spinning, "you shouldn't try to take so easy a way out, Mister Anonymous! That way is no fun, and that use of powers does not fit with her theme - she cannot simply use it to wrest away her failures in so anti-climatic a manner!" She gazes past you, into the eyes of >>22727842 "Why, that would not be heroic at all! Where is the drama! The excitement! The payoff of a building narrative!"

She smiles, and turns back to you. "The narrative serves you, child. But it cannot break the laws of drama, and to so retroactively change something fundamental to it goes against its nature." She pats you on the head, though you are fairly sure neither Gertrude nor Amy notice her. "Now I believe you have some comrades to save. I'll be rooting for you."

You are paralyzed from the whole "Higher R-State Being just did Higher R-State Fucking Weird Shit" thing for long enough to concern your compatriots. You are broken out of your stupor by a clap on the back from Gertrude.

"Where to now, Joanna?" she asks.

"The shed, next," you say. "Odds are pretty steep that there's some sort of hidden bunker just waiting for us to discover it amongst the rakes and shovels - ten to one says one of them is the lever."

"I dunno," says Amy, "sounds too much like something out of a B-Movie."

"Amy," Gertrude responds, "did you even see the first patroll?"

"Honestly," you reply, "I'm beginning to suspect that something like that might actually be the fucking case, given all the shit that's happened."

The two other agents give you a look, before following you. Crawling through grass is not hard, though avoiding putting your hands in cow shit is a bit more difficult than you initially anticipated. You're about a hundred yards out from the workshed when you notice that something is wrong - there are six people there, not three. Shouldn't be much of an issue, but you doubt you can get all of them in a single salvo even if you burnt a spell.

"Carmina," you whisper into your headset. "You seeing what I'm seeing right now?"

"If by you're seeing a bunch of fish in a bucket," she responds, "then yes, I see exactly what you do."

"Any chance you can take down one of the stragglers?"

There is a moment's pause - thirty seconds at the longest. The group of men and women, who had been spread in the door's front, begin moving your way, walking z patterns across the grass to discourage sniper fire. While this certainly makes it harder for a sniper to hit their target, Carmina has a certificate from the Bureau's Strategic Fire course. She can hit a the wings off a fly, and if it weren't the bullet's pressure trail, the fly would even survive the shot.

The woman on the far left drops.

You spring from cover, letting you Form take hold of your actions. Perfection fills you like white hot fire, and across your mind's eye the words PERFECT FORM scroll with light like a pair of suns. Your control is steady, your aim as perfect as possible - you squeeze lightly on the trigger three times, semi automatic. Each bullet strikes true upon their helmets, though they strike without full perfect (11 Damage). Thus is the imperfection of the world - though you yourself act perfectly, with each degree of separation, that perfection bleeds away.

"Amy!" you yell over the din of the fire. "Cut them!"

The other girl embraces her inner power, and a sharp wind blows over the field of your little skirmish. Amy picks up a blade of grass, her eyes bleeding off the Form of Sharpness, words unknown to you whispering in your ear just as truly as the flash over her mind's eye. She waves the grass blade in the direction of the guards firing upon you, and each of them drop to one knee - the tendons on their right leg severed just as surely as their vocal chords (5 damage to all, AC Reduced by 4).

Though in pain, they can still fire, even as their aim wildly misses their marks. You use this opportunity to obtain cover from their fire behind a slab of discarded sheet metal. It is not cover that is fitting for a hero such as yourself, however - a true inconvenience that you seek to rectify.

You let your power consume you, letting it flow naturally through the self to allow the narrative to serve you as is befitting of your stature. It sees your inconvenience, this minor detriment that poses threat to your life, and you share your perfection with it. The fires of your soul fly through you, spreading from your self in your surroundings, and across your mind's eye you see the words blazing like the unconquerable sun: IRON HEART SURGE.

The sheet metal is sheet metal no longer - it is as it always was, a discarded sheet of carbon fiber, meant to be sold by the farmers when they went into default, but never leaving the grounds for lack of proper book-keeping. It shrugs away the oncoming bullets even as you return fire. Amongst your hail of shots, some graze them, though none fully strike true (3 damage to Guards 1, 3, 6).

>Last post for tonight. Will continue tomorrow if thread is alive.

You decide that it is best you finish this now, and haul your asses into that mother fucking shed so you can grab your people and burn this fucking side quest to the ground. Had you actually been using ammunition rather than chunks of hypervelocity metal, this would be the dramatic moment where the authorial types would have you switch to a full clip, only to enrage all the gun loving types because a clip is not a magazine.

You roll out from behind your cover and begin to -move-.

There isn't much they can do to react - they had given up trying to get past your shield to focus their fire on Amy and Gertrude, not to mention that by the time your presence is recognized, one of them has had their brains blown out by Carmina. They move to put their guns in your direction far too slowly to be anything but futile - you are already in the air, well above them, by the time they shoot at where you were.

You spin around mid air, flipping yourself into a better position to see your targets, noting the confusion and horror upon their faces. With a certain detachment, you notice that they're the ones from earlier - it doesn't matter, though, they're in you fucking way. From the looks on their faces, these chucklefucks no doubt have just begun to realize the depth of the shit they had gotten themselves into when they went and fucked with a god damned magical girl.

You fire off three bullets - one tears into the porn star looking chick's face, another bloodies the curls of that absurd afro, and a third blows a hole through both cowboy hat and skull. All three of them drop dead. You sink the landing perfectly.

"Okay," you declare, "We're done here."

>>
>>22729915
cursing? sure. But using just fuck is very uncreative and boring. Not to mention gets annoying.
Invent some curses or use proper words as a curse.
>>
>>22729861

Tell Carmina and Hilda to keep us covered while we're inside, and to keep an eye on the house as well. Might be something worth looting in there.
>>
>>22729861
Check if the shed door is locked. If so, check dead suckers for keys. If no keys, remove the hinges from the door, possibly via Amy.
>>
>>22729905
But didn't you hear? Using fuck in between every other word in lieu of actual writing is so fucking Cyberpunk. Yesiree, the defining feature of Cyberpunk is how edgy you can make everyone sound through gratuitous cussing. Not the technology, not the overgrown city and malnourished morality, not the conspiracy, the new slang, or the neon jungle, but all the cursing.

Why is it most magical girl quest writers cant even get a proper handle on the genre they so unceremoniously cram their fetish into?
>>
>>22730030
There are elements of those in the quest. I think you're just wilfully ignoring them to bitch about the language and magical girls in general.
>>
Question for a latecomer: WHY are we wasting all our personal powers on mooks? We've got a sniper and someone who can cut throats at a distance.

For future assaults, one sniper shot, two throat cut, while we be on standby to shoot if something fucks up.

It's going to be a shitcunts bossfight inside, you can tell.
>>
>>22731517
Because we have plenty of power usages, generally? They refresh every thread, and so far we've hardly used 'em that much.
>>
>>22729861

Have Carmina look around the farm with her scope to see if the patrols have started to show signs of being alerted.
>>
>>22731517
In this specific instance there were 6 guards and only 3 of us and a sniper. Without power usage they would have most likely gotten off a more descriptive alarm. Besides, we only used one in a fight.
The first one was to cancel out a critical failure, and the second one was in the fight just now.
