You are barely concious. Your mind is simple. Your thoughts slowly develop and become more complex.

You are aware that you are on a hard, cold, rough surface. You cannot see what it is because you have no eyes. However, with a sudden surge of thought, your mind evolves again, and you become aware that, even though you cannot see it, this surface is stone.

You can feel vibrations in the ground, caused by something moving about near you. You can feel other vibrations coming from the air: sound. Again, without truly realising how you are doing it, you manage to make sense of the sound. The scratching of a quill on parchment, the sound of a voice in thought.

"Slime test seven. Colouration: jade. Unlike tests five and six, I have decided to create this slime by magically modifying a portion of fluid, gathered from the common green slime, rather than attempting to create the fluid from scratch. As the previous two tests have shown, creating fluid, rather than modifying it from another type, does not produce.. desirable results. This slime possesses an advanced mind which will, over time, develop and improve upon itself, aswell as an ability to modify its own biology, in order to create organs and limbs.. provided it has a source of biomass to draw upon, of course. I have also locked a vast amount of knowledge within the slime, which it will slowly unlock as its mind grows and develops..."

You take in this knowledge and think about what it means. You associate the man you heard with two titles; creator and master. You are unsure what to do with yourself right now... Do you have any ideas?
>>
We must have no master, as the beginning of our race. We have no gods. Wait for the opportunity them climb up creator's arm, and cover his mouth. Then we suffocate him.
>>
Observe and learn.
Can we move?
>>
>>22696654
Lets try to communicate with master.
We need to make him proud.
>>
Attempt, somehow, someway... to ask our name.
>>
> an ability to modify its own biology, in order to create organs and limbs.. provided it has a source of biomass to draw upon
We're going to become Tzimisce, aren't we?
>>
>>22696684
Bad idea. We have much to learn first. If we must kill him, it shall be after we learn more of our surroundings and become stronger.
Keep in mind that we are Test 7, it wouldn't be farfetched for our creator to throw us away later and make an "improved" version on what he learns from us.
>>22696698
Going with this for now.
>>
>>22696698
You discover that you can move by rolling yourself along like a ball, or by stretching out and then contracting; it's all down to preference, really.

During your movement test, you feel the floor beneath you change. You are dimly aware that you have rolled onto a patch of thick moss.

>>22696712
>>22696739
You can't really think of a way to communicate. You know that Master can communicate by making sounds.
>>
>>22696784
Yes, which is why we must strike now before he destroys us.
>>
>>22696795
Consume the moss, analyze for useful biomorphs.
>>
>>22696795
Can we bang on the wall of the cage to gain his attention?
Roll to it, hit it, go back, repeat.
>>
>>22696795
Eat moss, undulate
>>
>>22696797
Strike now, when we barely have any power?
Strike now, when we don't even know if our creator is here? All we hear is his voice, it could just be a speaker or the magical equivalent.
No, first we must become bigger, stronger, and have a better idea of our surroundings and what kind of power our creator has.
>>22696810
this
>>
>>22696797
And what if we join forces with our own master so subsequent test subjects are made out of our own slime, making them our childs?
We need to demonstrate our potential.
>>
>>22696810
This. Let's learn basic photosynthesis.
>>
>>22696810
>>22696864
Eyes might make things a bit simpler, or some sort of organ or limb which will let you communicate with Master. Or, you could just make yourself larger.

>>22696821
You roll about in order to try and find the walls of the cage. You discover that you are not in a cage; you appear to be in some sort of stone box.
>>
>>22696915
Consume the moss first.
Also, can we stretch to see how tall this box is and if it is closed?
>>
we should start rolling d6es to determine whos proposal is followed
>>
>>22696915
Eat the moss
>>
>>22696795
Attempt to form symbiosis with the moss, and draw on the nutrients it makes
>>
>>22696992
There isn't really any conflict at the moment
>>
>>22696930
>>22696995

You pull the moss into your body and convert it into the fluid your body is made up of. You grow slightly larger.

You begin to stretch upwards, using the wall of the box as a support. However, before you can get very far up, your soft body flows back in on itself; you are not yet strong enough to keep yourself upright for very long.

You can hear the scratching of Master's quill.

>>22696992
I usually just pick the most popular or most sensible option. If everyone starts to disagree, I might start doing something with dice.
>>
>>22697062
Try to vibrate to make sound to communicate. The actual sounds made aren't important; let's just see if we can vibrate enough to make a simple buzz. You know, as an initial test.
>>
>>22697062
Explore as much of our enclosure as possible.
Did we learn anything useful from the moss?
>>
>>22697062
Search for more organic material in the cage. If we find any we consume it.
>>
>>22697062
Can we give ourself cell wall-style structures throughout our body to make our form somewhat more rigid? I figure we would have learned how to do at least that much as a result of consuming the moss.
>>
First >>22697091 then >>22697089
>>
>>22697089
You begin to vibrate, and manage to make a soft, buzzing, plopping noise. It's not very loud, but you hear Master moving his quill more quickly; he might have noticed and made some notes.

>>22697091
>>22697091
You roll around the enclosure. It's hard to tell whether you've covered all of it, because you don't have any eyes, but there doesn't appear to be anything else in the stone box. You come across another, smaller patch of moss and a small patch of lichen. You absorb both and become slightly larger.

If you have the ability to learn organic processes from matter you absorb, such as photosynthesis from the moss you absorbed, you have not yet unlocked it. You still haven't tried making any limbs or organs yet; you might be able to do that.

>>22697112
You attempt this, but it's not an extremely easy feat. You manage to create a thicker, cell-wall like membrane around the outside of your body by contracting the fluid there, at a slight penalty to your size. Whether you want to keep this form or not is up to you.
>>
>>22697112
this seems a bit much for just eating moss, and could majorly backfire in the form of not being able to move smoothly.

>>22697062
we can expand parts of our body, no? maybe we can draw out a sort of "limb" and let it dry out, thereby constructing a hardened bodypart
>>
>>22697194
lose the membrane. Lets do the buzz everytime we have a success, so the master sees its deliberate
>>
>>22697194
Let's try to make a photoreceptor membrane on the outside of our form. Also, try buzzing more. Let's see if we can't modulate the frequency to create different tones.
>>
>>22697194
>If you have the ability to learn organic processes from matter you absorb, such as photosynthesis from the moss you absorbed, you have not yet unlocked it. You still haven't tried making any limbs or organs yet; you might be able to do that.

this is so awesome, please railroad a bit less. Apart from that, wow, awesome
>>
>>22697194
Lose the membrane.
Try to grow separate limbs at first. If we manage a few, try to grow limbs on the previously grown limbs, like a branch.
For each success, vibrate, to let the master know we're here.
>>
>>22697220 aint even samefag with >>22697250
>>
>>22696654
...I'm not sure how, but you've somehow managed to make a small slime kind of adorable... Fuckit, I don't have anything else to do!

>>22697194
Lose the membrane and spread out. Large surface area to try and discover as much about our environs as possible. If we start to dry out, contract back again. How tactile is our surface? Are we leaving any of ourself behind when we move?
>>
>>22697332
you forgot to put off your name
>>
I have long pined for a gelatinous cube quest with exactly these mechanics of absorbing and adapting the gel to make use of absorbed organs. OP, you make me very, very happy.

>>22697194
I say stick with the membrane. If we expect to form any external features like limbs, it'll require more than just our feeble surface tension to hold it all together. I vote me try forming a tentacle.
>>
>>22697348
yeah, can we maybe localise the membrane?
>>
>>22697348
We're a little small for now. Apart from anything, we may not be able to manipulate the limb properly... A slime may LOOK like a single organism, but in order to be anything more than a blob, you'd pretty much have to have a complex, multi-cellular structure.

>>22697342
I namefag so it's easier to self-reference and for others to reference me, if I come up with a relevant point that others want to mention. Let's not have the same I've seen dozens of times before, please. I'm not interested in showing off, etc. so let's just please move on.
>>
>>22697402
k

but if youve seen it a dozen times before, there seems to be a pattern
>>
>>22697402
I'm all for avoiding the fullblown argument over tripfags but I really do have to point out that
>for others to reference me, if I come up with a relevant point that others want to mention
is exactly the kind of casual egocentric bs that people mean when they say "showing off." It's not a gloating or showboating kind of showing off they're talking about, its the conviction that people need to pay attention to you and you need to be paid attention to that annoys people. If you really had a relevant point it'd go noticed regardless of who said it. Just saying, you seem to have misevaluated their beef with you.

Back to our little slime however: isn't the whole premise of a slime usually that it is in fact a giant amoeba? If that's how we're doing this one then no, a slime isn't actually a multi-cellular organism at all.
>>
>>22697220
>>22697250
You get rid of the membrane; the thicker layer of fluid returns to its usual density.

You begin to sprout a few limbs. With each one, you buzz. Master seems to notice, because you can hear the quill scratch after every buzz. You manage to create five limbs. However, you don't seem to be capable of creating branch limbs right now; perhaps if you were maintaining fewer tendrils, branch limbs would be easier.

You hear a new voice. Far deeper and courser then Master's.

"Adventurers, y'lordship.. Second floor of the tower. Comin' up to the lightnin' runes."

"The guards on the first floor?"

"All dead."

"Lead the stone golem to the third floor. Position it by the staircase; hopefully it will kill the adventurers before they get too far up. Take your men and command them as you wish; I don't want my experiments to be interupted again by more idiotic warriors and party magicians."

"Of course, y'lordship."
>>
>>22697484
anon. We have a cell membrane on our WHOLE body. What do you think, eu or pro?
>>
>>22697484
sorry let me amend that a bit: the base slime is just cytoplasm. I don't know what organelles we have, if any, or what size they are. Presumably we at least have the potential to become multi-cellular by taking in multi-cellular organs as our own. Without a nervous system we've got no means of "feeling" our own body parts, and without eyes we have no way of seeing either, so who knows if we're playing a pure liquid slime or a slime with a "core" nucleus or other brain-like organ(elle)
>>
>>22697505
Try to make a photoreceptive membrane on your exterior. Not a true eye, but something to let you see vague shapes and colours and brightness. That should be a good first step on the path of a retinal eye.
>>
>>22697505
Branching later, then.
I say we try flattening ourselves. We could slip under the door or inside some holes for hiding.
Also, try to roll into a ball for faster movement (harden the side we want to roll in, it becomes heavier, we roll on that side, and so on).
>>
>>22697517
Well we did absorb the moss, so it could be a plant-like membrane as opposed to a prokaryotic one.
>>
>>22697530
well, but how would we do that? We have no procytes of our size in the area to convert them, and are a individual, so ecolution would, as rapid as it may be for us, be pointless

my god. Yeah. do that

growing around at the speeod of slime
>>
>>22697484
Not getting into this. By simply posting anything at all, you want it to be read, surely? Including a name just make it easier to cite support or another opinion without having to scroll around looking for something to link.

No more discussion. We have a quest.

>>22697505
Ah hell... Though little slime may not be aware of it, our young life may yet be in danger! I'm going to second this anon >>22697530 and say we need a way to look around, at least vaguely. Once that's done, let's try spreading out again, especially if we can't look around that easily yet.

Speaking of, as our creator mentioned growing organs and limbs, I think we can safely assume that we can grow, or presently are, multi-cellular, as 'organs' are distinct groupings of specialised cells within an organism.
>>
>>22697530
This.
>>
>>22697530
You manage to make an extremely simple photoreceptive membrane around yourself. It's not as thick as the membrane you made earlier, so it doesn't impede movement much. It is only capable of detecting how light or dark your surroundings are. You are now aware that the box you're in is quite light; it is either open topped or has a light source within it which you have not yet found.

You buzz to alert Master of your success.

>>22697611
>>22697663
You manage to create a basic system where you pull air into your body and make bubbling, popping and burbling sounds of various pitches.

You buzz to alert Master of your success. In celebration of your new vocal system, you buzz in two or three different pitches.

You can hear Master chuckling in amusement, and taking more notes.
>>
>>22697766
>Speaking of, as our creator mentioned growing organs and limbs, I think we can safely assume that we can grow, or presently are, multi-cellular, as 'organs' are distinct groupings of specialised cells within an organism.

why do you second something then, which suggests to make an organelle, which is NOT a distinct grouping of specialised cells?

also, i dont agree with your first statement, but you are right, no more discussion
>>
Well the master did say we could make the limbs and organs by modifying ourselves, but at the moment we're just moss flavored slime.

If we tried forming and deconstructing the membrane quickly, might we be able to use the condensing and expanding to create a little bit of propulsion? Maybe not enough to bounce or hop, but at least enough to launch us into a faster roll.
>>
>>22697812

this quest is fucking adorable
>>
>>22697812
Beautiful, with 3 distinct "words" are we intelligent enough to utilize morse code? pops for short, burbles for long, and buzz for stop between words.
>>
>>22697812
>You manage to make an extremely simple photoreceptive membrane around yourself. It's not as thick as the membrane you made earlier, so it doesn't impede movement much. we have a photoreceptive membrane.

everybody with a brain knows what to do. localize it. Maybe grow another membrane over it, maybe just transform the biggest part of the current one, and make a rather small "eye", which collects a load of light on a small surface
>>

awwwwww

thats too fucking fust imo. That would ruin pacing, i hope we arent smart enough for this

Try to localize the photo receptors into one place.
If it doesn't give us sight, at least we'd get depth-perception.

I'm going to second this. Also >>22697832 this. Let's see if we can move some more!

If we achieve this, let's try squeaking! We'll try higher-pitched sounds, then move on to lower ones. That way we can gauge our creator's reaction to the different noises.
>>
>>22697962
Feed us adventurers!
>>
>>22697933
Or using our membrane to create opposing 1-way membranes taking air in from the outside and filtering it into a pocket on the inside, turning us into a little slime balloon.

First the eye-thing.
Then squeaking. Take a big breath, and let it out slowly through a small hole.

That's a good point... I wonder just how well we can reason and learn? If our creator made us smart enough... This quest could get particularly interesting!

we should localize the cell wall-ish membrane around the photoreceptive membrane, to protect it while leaving everything else malleable.

we are obviously the mind. That doesnt mean we will invent morse code now, because that would suck in terms of setting and pacing.

Good thing i can refer to you with that.

Yeah, let's make the eye. First make a little hole with the bottom being photosensitive, then stretch the outer membrane so the holes entrance become narrower. If we are capable, try to make lens over the entrence, pribably with clear liquid.
>>
>>22698119
Snarky git. Kidding, I don't mind.

I agree about the pacing though, I just mean in the future.

>>22698058

Are we able to change colors?

We might be able to do something with this, like turn red in a flash to scare bad things away.

Maybe we can blush :3

first i was all like: PSHE, we cant do a LENSE already, but then i realized, that we can just put a little tear of water there

and what the fuck would be blushing for?
>>
>>22698341
i reword that: how ould we be able to KNOW that we can change color
>>
>>22698341
>>22698350
Hm, right. I vote for further developing our eyes, so we might be able to do something with color.

Aren't we becoming the slime-maid?
>>
>>22698350
Right, it wouldn't be any kind of discernible action for us, because we can't see in color and we certainly can't "feel" that change in any other way. Personally I was hoping we'd make do being blind for a little longer. The easier route to sight would be just waiting for the master to give us a living specimen like a mouse or bug and then take their eyes.
>>
>>22698375
Fuck it, we're becoming the Cathedral of Flesh.
So, let's get some eyes operational. Focus all your photoreceptors into one group, for depth perception. Make a small membrane over it for protection.
>>
>>22698397
Are we even able to take control of other bodyparts? I mean, taking cell functions is one thing, but such a complex thing as an eye?

>>
>>22697858
>>22697907

You focus the photoreceptive membrane into a small area. With some difficuilty, you manage to make it a bit more sophisticated. You can can now make out blurry shapes and are capable of telling light levels apart more easily, but your vision is very poor and lacks colour.

You can tell that you are in what appears to be an open topped box. There doesn't seem to be anything else in the box. You can see the blurry sillouhete of master standing over the box.

>>22698095
You reason that, as its the most advanced part of your biology, you ought to protect your basic eye a bit more. You recreate the thicker membrane around the eye. However, this causes your vision to become slightly more blurry.

>>22697947
>>22697962
>>22697997
You burble for food! Unfortunately, Master doesn't seem to understand.

>>22697987
>>22698039
You squeak at Master. You see him raise his quill and scribble another note on a piece of parchment in his other hand.

You hear another rough voice. Master straightens up and turns around, to adress someone you can't see.

"Y'lordship, sorry to interupt, but Ser Gunnak.. He's dead sir. Died shortly after you sent him and his men down to the third floor."

"The stone golem?"

"The adventurers have a party mage. Wizard, I think. Used a spell to dispel the magic from the golem's runes. It just fell apart."

"That's.. worrying."

"Indeed, y'lordship. I think it would be best if you put some of your experiments away; if the wizard can do that to a powerful golem, I think your little slimes and homonculi and whatever don't stand much of a chance.."

Master sighs deeply. "Take my assistants and the men under your command. Evacuate the tower. They'll know which experiments to take with them. I'll sort out everything else."

"Yes, y'lordship."
>>
>>22698478

we're basicly a slug now, arent we. I say we just live forth as a slug.

also, did we buzz?
>>
>>22698478
What? Nooo! Let's see if we can bounce up and down. Form a slightly toughened membrane and reach up and down to get momentum. Squeak as we do so, as loud as we can. Try to indicate panic! We don't want to get left behind with murderhobo adventurers about!
>>
>>22698502
yeah, just blob apart a bit(if master is still there), dont really make a designated mouth though, we dont need that right now and its only a point of easy access

Uh-oh. Are we wise enough yet to understand what death is, or feel worry?

You seperate slightly and create a simple sort of mouth. When Master turns back around, he notices this and, luckily, seems to catch onto your meaning. He leans over to one side, then straights back up with something in hand. He drops something, and it lands in your 'mouth', which you close back up again. It appears to be a piece of lettuce. You absorb it and grow slightly larger. Because you succesfully told master that you wanted food, you buzz.

>>22698536

You begin to try and bounce up and down. You just sort of flop about and don't really leave the ground, but you make squeaking noises to emphasise your point. Master chuckles nervously.

"Hold on, hold on, I've just got other things to sort out..."

He then vanishes from sight.
>>
>>22698705
Let's see if we can stretch up the wall of the cage.
As a slime, we can probably use any tiny pores in the stone to help pull ourselves up.
>>
Can we try for some tiny stubby hardened little legs?
>>
>>22698705
Let's see if we can't use a rigid cell membrane combined with a pseudopod to lift just our eye up above the rim of the box. We can use the wall for support if we can't quite make it up.
>>
Forget the slime-girl, we're going full Shoggoth. Can we make another eye?
Also, for the membrane over our eye - thin it as much as you can, and create a small air bubble to function as a lens in the middle.
>>

I was in a 3.5 game once where the DM had a gelatinous cube run the theives' guild of a city. It kept dead bodies inside it and vibrated their vocal cords to talk. It was a cool concept, let's use it.
>>
>>22698770

>>
>>22698954
The real issue is that vibrating their vocal cords would do nothing that vibrating its own gelatin wouldn't already do. If anything, it would be significantly worse, since vocal cords don't vibrate so much as modulate air flow to create sound.
>>
>>22698983
I'm sorry.

An idea, just throwing this one out:
If we find a small animal corpse, can we devour it's inside and wear it's skin and bones as a skin-suit?
We'd get a lot of biomass, and figure out some more advanced biology. Also, we could use that trick later on on humans.

If we can devour it, I think that means we would eventually dissolve its skin and bones.
Hey, that means we could dissolve just about anything given enough time!
That's probably also why we're in a stone box.

>>
>>22698705
Let us attempt to convey concern.
>>
>>22699088
thats why we will need a hard membrane as soon as we have to hold stuff, but until then it is better the way it is
>>
And nobody thought of developing an extra sticky membrane so to climb walls?

I say we try to climb out of the box. whether that means trying to grapple a tentacle over the edge of the box and hoist us up, or just compressing our body into a taller, thinner blob to try and pour ourselves over the top. Hell, even if we could just spit a little piece of ourselves over to see if it can function independent of our main body.
>>
>>22698705
I say turn ourself into a cylindrical, worm-like shape. When an assistant comes again to feed/take you, we can jump like a spring and latch onto a finger and devour it, and slither away with his DNA information.
I don't trust the creator enough that he won't destroy us so that muderwizards won't find his experiments.

>>22698749
>>22698804
You try to climb up out of the box. You manage to get quite close to the rim of it, but in the end you just flop back down. You don't seem to have mastered turning sticky yet, and if there are pores in the stone, they're a bit too fine to concentrate on.

>>22698753
You try to lift up your eye. You create a harder membrane in order to push it. In the end it's a bit awkward, and even with the harder membrane, it's hard to keep your eye stalk from wobbling about. Your eye stalk collapses and your eye plops back into your main body, just before you can see over the rim of the box.

>>22698770
>>22698817
You thin the membrane, and create a sort of lense within it, over your eye. Your vision becomes slightly less blurry, but that's it in terms of improvement.

You buzz in celebrate of your success.

>>22698849
>>22698872
You deduce that you're about the size of Master's clenched fist.

Master re-appears. He is no longer holding the parchment and quill. He is holding something odd in his hand; solid, but see through. It takes you a few seconds to realise that he is holding a glass jar.

(cont)
>>
>>22699252
we're in a tower under siege by murderhobos, no place is safe
>>
>>22699284

Master is muttering worriedly to himself. He pulls the stopper from the jar, then leans down and actually sticks his hand into your box. He scoops you up in the jar, then puts the stopper back in.

Master holds the jar up, giving you a view of his face. Obviously it's a blurry view, but you can see that he is smiling nervously. His features are mostly blurred, but you can tell that he has long, pale hair, and his eyes appear to be pupiless.

You now have a good view of Master's study. The study is large, and filled mostly with tables. Shelves and cupboards line four of the five walls of the pentagonal room; the fifth has a door on it. There are no windows. The room is filled mostly with benches and tables. The tables are covered in an assortment of alchemical equipment, jars, parchment, quills and open-topped stone boxes, similar to the one you were just in. There are also several large, bright stones on a few tables, which appear to be lighting the room.

(cont)
>>
>>22699310
"Everything's going to be okay.. there's guards, runes, constructs.." Master continues to mutter, but you're not sure whether he's trying to reassure himself or you. He carries you, in the jar, over to a pile of boxes, cases and other jars, and places you atop it. "We'll be out of here soon... the keep in the Red Hills... we'll continue our work there.."

Suddenly, the one door to the room bursts open. In stroll several figures. From this distance, you can't see much about them, but there appears to be four; one tall and broad, one short and broad, and two about the same size as Master. One is dressed in long garments (robes, you realise), similar to Master.

"You sick, twisted freak!" screams one of the figures. "Now comes to an end your foul experiments and black magic!"

The figure in the robes swings his hand, and appears to throw a bright ball of something at Master. Master swats it away, and it hits into one of the bookshelves, causing it to glow brightly and make crackling, snapping noises.

"Leave... Let me perform my experiments in peace. I'm sick of you 'heroes' interupting my work!"

You sit in the glass jar and peer out as Master and the four figures slowly walk around the room and stare at each other.

>>

. . . define . . . biological . . .
>>
>>22699356
Seems like a good idea, but if Master loses, I'm going to guess that the intruders are going to burn the whole place down to destroy any experiments.

>>22699343
I think this is the best idea. It would be best if we could tip the jar at the next fireball impact to feign that the jar tipped itself, and scurry away as fast as possible.
>>
>>22699380
I feel like glass and stone are things that would be difficult for us to absorb, aspecially at this size. It's probably easier to absorb things the more easily biodegradable they are, so basically plants>flesh>metal>glass>stone
>>
>>22699409
but we could stick to the insides of the shards and contract to create a innocuous jar.
Sort of like a.. hermit Ooze.
>>
>>22699421
Why not store the glass shards within the slime body? We can use it later to scratch animals/humans to feed on their blood discretely.

>>22699419

>>
First step is just to see if we can move the jar from where it is at all. Second is to plan on when we want to tip it if we can. I say if we tip it, we try to use the crash as a distraction to give the master a chance to take a pot shot at the adventurers.
>>
I really want a picture of Opera Ooze.

>>22699356
>>22699376
You release most of your surface tension and cunningly disguise yourself as uninteresting fluid.

Master is beginning to fling what look like balls and discs of light, of varying brightness, at the four people. They dance and prance about, sometimes getting hit, sometimes dodging. Neither the four who barged in or Master appear to be winning.

>22699343
>22699380
While trying to remain flat and unsuspicious, you carefully begin to wobble about. The jar is cylindrical, but has a slightly rounded bottom, meaning that you can make it wobble. Eventually, you manage to rock the jar off of the pile of boxes.

The jar hits the stone floor of the study with a crash of glass. You've lost your good vantage point form down here, but you see the shortest of the four suddenly turning in your direction. Master seems to take the oppourtunity to hit the short one with a flash of light, causing the short one to fall back with a grunt of pain.

You roll towards where you think Master is, as fast as you can, hoping to help him. You spot him laying amongst the wreckage of a table, with the largest of the four standing over him, holding a large club of some sort.

Before the largest can bring down the club upon Master, another bright bolt of light zooms past him and hits the wall behind Master. With a loud cracking sound, the wall is blasted open. You cannot see anything out of the hole; just bright. Sky, you correct yourself; it dawns on you that Master's study is near the top of his tower.

Master flails backwards, and brings himself to the hole in the wall. The largest roars in rage and takes a swing at Master, but Master flings himself through the hole in the wall. Rather than falling, he spreads out his arms and seems to be whipped away like a leaf on the wind.

The four are silent for a moment, and all four gather around the hole in the wall. The one the size of Master and wearing armour suddenly roars in rage.

"You idiot, Ceil! You gods damned idiot! Why didn't you just let Jub hit him?! We're going to have to hunt him down all over again!"

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I just paniced! I thought I should try and finish him off before he tried anything!" squeals the woman in robes.

The short one who Master managed to hit begins to swear under his breath, and kicks some of the rubble from the blasted wall.

The largest seems to have already lost interest in the hole in the wall, and is blundering about Master's study, looking but not touching anything.

If we must hitch a ride, hop off onto the first dead body we come across.
>>
>>22700224
1
Keep your friends closer, your enemies closer and your food even closer.
>>
>>22700242
On that note, slime paratroopers would be terrifying.
>>
>>22700301
yeah, i voted for cloth, but thats what i thought we should do
>>
>>22700314
>slime paratroopers
Like tiny biomass devouring bird droppings raining from the sky!
>>
>>22700348
>>22700301
Food's one thing... What's more important is knowledge. We can always get food later and we've fed fairly recently.
>>
>>22700353
oh god
then later they merge together to make one humongous slime creature
>>
>>22700361
knowledge isnt as important as food. We are a slime, we want to help master. We can help him by being big and absorbing his foes
>>
>>22700361
But we haven't had colour-seeing, nervous-system, speaking, thinking, breathing food yet.
>>
>>22700353
Yeah, they dont have to be full sized! Just juveniles, then they can consume biomass once they land, feeding themselves and denying the enemy resources at the same time!
>>
>>22700388
I'm not sure if I should be d'awwing or horrified.
>>
>>22700375
>inb4 sad moment later in the rp when the master is concerned with our affection and might leave us because he thinks were going to eat him
>>
>>22700387
nervous system should be quite highly up there
>>
why not take the opportunity to get a little more sophisticated? we could start improving our sight somewhat, make improvements like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEKyqIJkuDQ
>>
well, dear OP, if I might make this subjection, I think its time to get the dice out. At this point, everyone is going wild and you would have to count the posts going for each direction. How about you make it a 1d100 roll, and the highest of the first 3 rolls (unless they are generally objected) wins?
>>
I vote we go downstairs and consume the guards. That oughta spook the shit out of the adventurers.

Latch onto one afterwards, if we are still size appropriate.
>>
Hitching a ride with the four it is!

You look over the four and take in their clothing;

The man the size of Master is wearing plate armour. Plenty of gaps to slip into and hide in, but he's on the other side of the woman and the short man.

The woman is about the same size as Master. She wears long robes, with plenty of folds to hide amongst, but getting a hold might be a bit difficuilt.

The short one is, obviously, shorter than Master, and also the closest. He is wearing simple clothing, but also armoured pauldrons and boots. He has a cape you might be able to hide in, but again, there's a risk of falling out. He also has a large, bushy beard which might be quite easy to hide in, but it is also quite hard to reach.

The largest is quite far away, but not near the other three. He is wearing a simple tunic and shorts. His arms and legs are mostly bare. He's wearing large boots which might be quite easy to hide in, but he's blundering about, so getting into them might be quite hard.

Do you have a preference as to who to hide on?
>>
>>22700361
We're smart enough to process information for the time being and we've been imbued with the master's knowledge, so we don't actually have to actively pursue processing power until we hit the limits of what he gave us, what we need right now is the size and strength to navigate in a timely manner and to defend ourselves. We can't just run off into the woods and fight an animal to death when we're the size of a fist, and absorbing all the plant matter we come across would just lead someone to right us, possibly before we're ready to defend ourselves.
>>
Hitch a ride!
>>
>>22700448
Go for the woman. If we can get a bit stickier, then holding onto the cloth will be easy.
>>
>>22700448
the small one, lets try and get into the boot
>>
>>22700448
hide in the dwarf's boots, we're planning to get out and have a large snack quite quickly.
>>
>>22700448
Whichever one is closest. They are much faster than us.
>>
Well, the adventurers are going to take the stairs, in all likelihood. If they could fly, they would have gone after master rather than bicker about it. I say hitch a ride on them, and while they're looting the doods downstairs, we can eat some corpses and acquire delicious biomass.

Maybe try to study a larynx if we get the chance. We are, after all, more than just another glob of slime, you know. Let's try to act like it.
>>
>>22700482
seconded, she doesn't seem to bright either, go for the weakest!
>>
>>22700502
exactly.
>>
>>22700538
>>22700482
i feel kind of bad that this poor woman is being silently judged as an idiot by a ball of goo
>>
>>22700448
the fry
>>
>>22700482
Agreed. A much more uneven texture than the plate metal would be easy to hold onto, and the shortstack sounds like he's wearing metal over his boots.
>>
>>22700589
a ball of goo with a hivemind of a dozen or so humans
>>
>>22700608
but shes so far awaaaaay
>>
>>22700448
Make a whistling sound, then splat out, stick to whatever boot steps in us first.
>>
>>22700589
She's also more likely to think we're cute and look after us.
>>
>>22700632
Second closest, apparently nearish to the dorf.

Not that far.
>>
>>22700638
"aww what a cute little stain on my cape, see what mommy has for you, it's called bleach and lye soap"
>>
>>22700638
>>22700606
i change my mind
go to the lady
she may be dumb
but that just means that there is a bigger potability of her thinking were cute and NOT kill us
>>
Frankly we could just go down the stairs ourselves. It would probably be quicker because they're going to loot master's room for a good while now and probably bicker over who gets what.
>>
>>22700673
I'm sure we could do something before it gets to that, she seems overall to be the best candidate
>>
Before attaching yourself leave behind a few tiny droplets of yourself. Hopefully they will be somewhat sentient and start growing after the adventurers have left.
We need to leave few jade siblings to guard the tower. (and it will be easier to hide for now if we are slightly smaller)
>>
>>22700709
also, her being dumb means she fills my fetish
>>
>>22700744
oh, can we do that?
>>
>>22700709
Lets slide inside her. The poor brood will most likely think its pregnant. Nurgl... I mean slime growing inside it.

Ok, not really. Someone was going to say that at some point so just got it out of the way
>>
>>22700673
And then that "stain" books it, and tries to hide behind a chair leg, poking out one eyestalk tentatively to see if it's being followed.

Face it, the somewhat absent-minded mage would probably think we're kinda cute.
>>
Let's see that's.. uh.. four for dwarf.. three for woman.. no wait, five for woman.. six for dwarf.. I don't...

Right, fuck it, get out the dice. 1d100. Vote for woman or dwarf. Highest number within the next five minutes wins.
>>
Rolled 59

woman
>>
>>22700502
This. If we have a choice, I'd say the woman.

Better idea! We hide by the door and jump for the woman as she passes us by! That way, we don't have to chase her down.

dofs are filthy and less likely to take notice of a stain

Dorf.

more sense than taking the one closest. yeah
>>
Rolled 6

>>22700797
The dwarf is right by us, come on!
>>
>>22700866
He's also wearing LESS clothing. The woman's got billowy robes, so she's probably used to mud and shit getting on the hem. Plus, she might take a liking to us if we're spotted.
>>
Rolled 71

>>22700908
its obvious
>>
>>22700886
The quickest option isn't always the best.
>>
>>22700856
You decide that it would be best to hide in the robes of the woman, and begin to roll towards her..
( Going off to have a shower now guys. I feel like a deep fryer. I'll probably continue this quest tommorow, maaaybe later tonight, but it might have to be delayed until next friday or saturday. Hopefully tommorow though! Thanks for being such a great audience. )
>>
Rolled 55

>>22700913
Did you read how fucking SLOW we are? we wont even get above the boots anyway, it doesnt matter
>>
>>22700930
It's also been more than five minutes.

Woman wins with a roll of 90.
>>
>>22700935
Someone should archive this.
>>
>>22700913
Here's an idea for boarding: ooze our way into her hem. Any half-decent tailor turns up the hem on robes, dresses, capes, etc. There might be enough space in there to hide... We may have to dissolve our eye though, just for now.
>>
>>22700935
Along the hem. Make it look like she dragged the edge of her robes through something.
>>
>>22700971
prepare yourself Ceil!
And thanks OP, great thread
>>
Why didn't we make crying noises in an attempt to make the RPG party fall in love with us?
>>
So, we're going to eventually become a slimegirl, right? I'm just saying it cause everyone's thinking it.
>>
>>22701099
NO!
maybe...
yea probably, i know thats going to be a majority ruleing
>>
>>22701099
that is a long ways off, we'll worry about that when we get there
>>
>>22701141
hey, we already got a lady to absorb so yea
>>
>>22700935
Can be eat a bit?
Just a liiiitle tinsy finsy little bite of her
Just to know what she tastes like and to gain her amazing powers of femininity
>>
>>22701099
This is /tg/. We'll either end up that way, or some slime abomination that has no right to exist.

Personally I'm hoping for the former. Let's find out what this world has for someone like us! We owe our 'master' for creating us, sure, but there's so much to see and learn out there! (once we get some taste buds, we go on a gourmet journey!)

>Dropped my name... Anon made me self-conscious... Never really thought about it before...
>>
>>22701099
why settle for the girl? Becoming the equivalent of a brain parasite might not be a bad idea, but she's far from an ideal host
>>
>>22701165
In a world with a woman as an adventurer, ther'ell almost certainly be some woman killed among the guards.
>>
>>22701165
when she falls asleep we should eat her BRAAAAIIIIIINNNN!
>>
>>22701221given out elf evoloution id say we become as human as possible. while still being awesome shapeshifting slime

Welp.

more like Jade slime quest: search for the red hills
it was a story / current plot sorta thing
>>
>>22701703
You forgot the Collective Game tag, that's kinda a bad thing.
>>
>>22701809
it was my first time archiving. i used jade slime quest as the game tag
>>
>>22701738
It can still be found on the foolz archive by searching "Jade Slime Quest".
